Incorporating Felting Into My Home
Tumblr media
Much of my creative energy goes into building pieces for other people, but incorporating felting into my home as we settle into the cabin has been really fun. Before I found felting, I made lamps. I have included a few pictures below.
Tumblr media
Tripod Lamp
Tumblr media
Copper Bowl on a Pedestal - aka the Crazy Lamp Kitchen Sconces For the cabin, I combined the two passions in my kitchen and screen porch. In the kitchen I created felt sconce vessels with a branch and curly copper wire on top of each. I wanted them to be organic and differ slightly from each other. Each is heavily stiffened to hold its shape. I love the reflection off the window they give at night. It looks like the moon.

Second kitchen sconce
Tumblr media
Wet felted vessel kitchen sconce lit up Screen Porch Chandelier My screen porch lamp was several years in the making. I found this antique dairy receptacle at a barn sale a few years ago and knew it would make a really cool lamp but wasn't sure where it could go. This is a big boy! So definitely needed to be a statement piece.
Tumblr media
Antique dairy globe receptacle I cut cream felt into long strips and then I bought a long strand of rope covered electrical wire . The rope was fished through two of the holes in the globe and I wove the felt along the outside of the globe. Then I got stuck for about a year trying to figure out how to hang this thing so I stuck it in a box and didn't think about it for awhile. As we were completing our screen porch, I knew I finally had the perfect space for a statement. So I pulled the box out of storage and got back to solving the hanging problem. I ultimately incorporated more rope and created a basket for the globe. The rope was left long so I could adjust height on the fly and intended to trim it once the final height was determined but I like the rustic look so I think I will keep it!

Boho globe rope and felt chandelier lit up
Tumblr media
Boho globe rope and felt chandelier Wasn't sure if my husband would be on board with the chandelier but he said it was "sick". Pretty sure that is good! I also have more traditional felt pieces hanging on my walls like all of you but I like incorporating felting into my home in unique ways that I have never seen before. I would love to get feedback from you on what you think. Read the full article

Wayne was raised in the small town of Gale's Hollow, working as a local lamp smith at Contour Lamps. While at first, he aimed to simply make a name for himself and gain some extra spending money, he soon relied on his craft to help his mother fund medical expenses for his sickly sister.
As time went by, he slowly began to befriend his coworker, Jamie O'Neil. Often finding their stories of fictional triumph, delight, and horrors to be fairly delightful to listen to as the sun set for the work day. It was something that almost always was able to distract him from the unfortunate situations at hand.
At least till one day when Jamie told him a story that stuck out to him as odd. It was about a shadowed being that brought misfortune to anyone foolish enough to walk alone at night with a torch. At first, Wayne dismissed it as well-told fiction, as he'd tricked home a fair amount of times in those conditions with no problem. Yet, when he heard the voice of a uncannily happy woman lost in the dark that night, he wasn't sure anymore.
⇢ᴘʀᴇsᴇɴᴛ:
After making the mistake of leading the shadowed being to his town, Wayne found himself overcome with guilt and shame when the aftermath of the creature's attack played out. Haunted by the demise of his home and loved ones, he hopes the mysterious letter he received from an unknown baron can be the cure to the curse he brought upon himself.

History and Evolution of Glass Lamps
Glass lamps have a rich and fascinating history that spans centuries, evolving from simple oil lamps to the intricate masterpieces we admire today.
In ancient times, glass lamps were crafted by skilled artisans using traditional techniques, with designs influenced by cultural and technological advancements of the era. These early lamps served not only as sources of light but also as symbols of status and artistry.
The Middle Ages witnessed significant developments in glassmaking, leading to the production of more refined and elaborate lamp designs. With the invention of stained glass, artisans began incorporating colorful glass panels into lamp shades, creating stunning visual effects when illuminated.
The Renaissance period marked a golden age for glassmaking, with innovations in both design and craftsmanship. Prominent glassmaking centers emerged in Europe, such as Venice and Murano, where master artisans honed their skills and created exquisite glass lamps fit for royalty and nobility.
In the 19th century, the Industrial Revolution brought about mass production techniques, making glass lamps more accessible to the general public. This era also saw the rise of iconic designers like Louis Comfort Tiffany, who revolutionized the art of glass lampmaking with his innovative techniques and distinctive style.
Today, glass lamps continue to evolve, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern design sensibilities. From classic Tiffany lamps to contemporary minimalist designs, glass lamps remain cherished symbols of beauty, elegance, and innovation.
Unique FAQs
Are glass lamps fragile?
Glass lamps are generally durable but should be handled with care to prevent breakage. Avoid placing them in high-traffic areas where they may be knocked over or bumped.
Can stained glass lamps be customized?
Yes, stained glass lamps can be customized to suit your preferences. Many artisans offer custom design services, allowing you to create a one-of-a-kind piece that reflects your unique style.
How do I choose the right size glass lamp for my space?
Consider the scale of the room and the intended purpose of the lamp when selecting the size. A larger room may accommodate a statement-making lamp, while smaller spaces may require more petite designs.
Are glass lamps energy-efficient?
Glass lamps themselves do not affect energy efficiency; however, the type of bulb used can impact energy consumption. Opt for LED or CFL bulbs for greater energy efficiency and longer lifespan.
Can I use glass lamps outdoors?
While some glass lamps are suitable for outdoor use, it's essential to choose weather-resistant materials and ensure proper protection from the elements. Consult with the manufacturer or retailer for guidance on outdoor suitability.

Burned Out ←12 13 14→
Terash rolled the beacon in his hand, inspecting the side along either edge until he found the faint inscription, a seven-digit number. Moving his gaze to the opposite half of the device, he soon found the second number. Turning the beacon back and forth in his hand, he compared the two numbers, quickly confirming that they were identical.
Shifting the beacon to his left hand, he reached into his inner breast pocket and withdrew a small waxed canvas-bound book with his right. As he did, he turned his attention back outward. Vaniyo was no longer yelling and Balucon and his top hand seemed to have left the site entirely. She was crouching silently next to the circle, staring blankly forward. Once again, she looked fearful.
Not wanting to disturb her, Terash kept himself busy with the notebook. With one hand, he managed to flip it open and then began awkwardly pushing through the pages with his thumb. Once he found the next blank page, he shifted the notebook to his left hand, pressing the beacon into the gutter in order to hold it open. Pulling a short wooden pencil from a small sleeve on the outside of the book, he began by writing the date and time. He added a couple of notes about the location, particularly a description of the route they had taken on their way here. The last note he made was the number inscribed on the beacon. After copying it, he double-checked it against both inscriptions to make absolutely sure that it was accurate. By the time he would be back in Hallium, writing his report, the inscription was likely going the be too corroded to read.
His notation complete, he returned the pencil to its place and the notebook to his pocket. Then, he slid the beacon into his right jacket pocket. Back at the towers, the Lampmakers would want it back. While the outer casing of the device would be too degraded for reuse, there were many of the inner components which could be put to good use.

elves of arda ֎ vanyar ֎ headcanon disclaimer
Ingwion Antarion was the eldest son of High King Ingwë of the Vanyar and his wife Antarë, born in the bliss of Aman and elder brother to Teleptië, Arnalaurë, Ilion, and Altacallo. He was ever close to his father, and became a fair and wise prince among the Eldar. Shortly before the Darkening of Valinor, he wed his cousin Ilwen Eldacalië, the daughter of his mother’s brother Tinwë and the Telerin wife he had met in the Halls of Mandos.           When Darkness fell upon Aman, Ingwion and Ilwen’s plans to start a family were set aside until the chaos settled. Ingwë and his son worked tirelessly to bring hope to the Vanyar, and with the aid of the minstrel Elemmírë they created a festival of lanterns and song to usher in the Sun and Moon. Some centuries later, Ingwion at last felt free to settle down with his wife, and Ilwen bore him two daughters: Ingil Nielluin and Airiel Wailima.           Ingil was the elder by seventy years, and inspired by the stories of the Meren Calmalírë her father organized, she became a lampmaker and storyteller. In the Third Age, Ingil met and married Telimektar, a Maia of Tulkas and friend of her uncle Altacallo, and they lived their days in joy and peace.           Airiel married younger than her sister to Lirindo Úrion, the grandson of Olwë Lindaráto. From their union was born Meril Turinqi, a princess of both the Vanyar and the Falmari. Meril grew to be strong of will and wise in lore, and taking after her father’s people she settled upon the island of Tol Eressëa and was elected as its Queen by its eclectic population of ancient Falmari, returned Noldorin Exiles, and late-coming Teleri.           That the Exiles and late-comers were free to sail to Aman at all was in great part thanks to Meril’s grandfather. When Eärendil and Elwing brought desperate news of the perils of the Free-peoples of Beleriand, the Valar at last stirred the Amanyarin elves to action against Morgoth. Ingwë remained in Valmar as High King, but Ingwion was named the Captain of the Host of the Valar, serving alongside Arafinwë of the Noldor and Eönwë of the Maiar in the War of Wrath. It was he who freed the haven of Eglarest in the first battle of the war, driving the orcs from the shore, and throughout the conflict he proved a noble and capable commander, earning great renown for himself and his kin.           Upon Morgoth’s defeat, Ingwion returned to his family in Valmar, more grateful for the peace of Aman than ever before, and spoke in favor of lifting the enchantment of the Shadowy Isles to allow the war-wearied Beleriandrim the chance to find safety in Valinor. Moved by his account of the War of Wrath and his pity of its survivors, Manwë agreed, and thus the Exile of the Noldor and the Sundering of the Teleri began to be recompensed.
