on a much brighter note, i'm thinking about trying to write SNW-era spirk and it's difficult to do, because i cannot fathom a spock and kirk who don't already know that the other is very important to them!
like no wonder the 2009 reboots had to have a character who'd seen the old timeline (much less ambassador spock himself). can you imagine the torture of watching spock and kirk interact without knowing? without being aware of the relationship that would define them and their source materials? like goddamn no wonder you need someone to tell both of them to give the other a chance.
i try to think about SNW-era spirk and my brain immediately wants to either expand on 1x10 a quality of mercy or some sort of soulmate au. but even a soulmate au doesn't scratch the itch, because a soulmate au doesn't even manage to communicate to these characters that they will be very important!! and i can't imagine a spirk without the knowledge of their power.

It's them the boys my love's the lights if my life the yees to my haws my oTP-
I can't even begin to explain why I love them for me they just WORK-
John has been alone for so long, stewing in his regrets and failures as an older brother. He needs a gentle figure in his life to assure him that he matters and that he deserves love because despite all the mistakes he's made he's working to change
Trollex doesn't have much screen time, but he strikes me as a kind, gentle, and loving. He's open to the inclusion of other genres of Trolls, and strives to be a better King because of it.
In my personal headcanons, Trollex doesn't have a good relationship with his family because of how willing he is to let other Trolls in their kingdom. So he's lived most of his life trying to apease someone who was never gonna give him a chance, unless he went back to their old ways.
But when he meets John, someone who is unabashedly himself, he falls hard. And John falls right back, falling into the arms of this gentle giant who's more than willing to tell him how much he's loved over and over again.
These two are cheesy as hell and can often be found with their foreheads pressed together, whispering sweet nothings to one another.
They found each other late in life, but by god they're gonna make the most of it.
I could go on for hours about these two and frankly I already have so imma cut it off here and just say these two are without a doubt my OTP and I can't stop thinking about them-

What's the problem with Deku's writing?
well for one he's a main character. which is strike one.
technically that's a joke but also not. there's a lot angles i could take in order to complain about deku, so for now i want to take the angle that as a main character, there are things that are going to be taken for granted as endgame for the narrative, but it's so taken for granted that the story forgets about the actual material needed to reach the endgame.
i'm going to use ofmd s2 as an example of this, because it's another thing i like to point at and go :) bad writing. so for that, it's very evident that the writers are aiming for "ed and stede are together and are ready to embark on a new, more mature phase of their life together". you can tell this because the showrunner was constantly talking about it in interviews. and indeed, the season ends with ed and stede parting ways with their crew and pirate life to try their hands as innkeepers.
but to reach that endgame, the series has to a) get stede and ed back together as soon possible, meaning they have to lean heavily on coincidence rather than any real efforts on the part of the characters, b) resolve the very emotionally stark situations the characters had left s1/started s2 in a way that makes the happy innkeeper endgame possible, but this makes the segue from drama to resolution unbelievable because the series can't really dedicate the time to dealing with that fallout before hopping onto the next big issue, which c) means that the ways that the other characters have been hurt as a result ed and stede's relationship drama have their pain sidelined and shrugged off, and in turn d) the focus on ensuring that ed and stede are together and in love means that their relationships with other characters get de-emphasized and feel much less lived, which rebounds and makes ed and stede feel more one-dimensional without the magic that fleshed them out. and most dire of all e) the audience is expected to believe that "sorry i was a dick" "you're not a dick life's a dick" is meant to indicate a development of maturity that means they are able to go off and be innkeepers together. it is NOT there.
essentially, the focus on a specific endgame without care about how that endgame is achieved ends up undercutting the triumph and catharsis of that endgame, rendering it much more hollow. people still enjoyed ofmd s2, and they're allowed to! but they enjoy it because their otp ended the season standing next to each other. three feet part. not for any genuine critical acclaim.
it's a similar issue with deku, especially in this final arc. his obvious endgame is that he'll affirm shigaraki's humanity and pain, "save" him (what that looks like yet, we don't know), and in turn become the greatest hero. we've got all the bones of that - just recently in 411, deku did his whole "you ARE human" declaration. but the lead up to deku and shigaraki's confrontation is thematically shallow and heavily dependent on us knowing that deku is a great kid and a great hero.
deku starts the third act realizing that if he understood the villains that he's faced, things could have turned out differently - the set up is that deku has to understand shigaraki as a person in order to stop him. the lead up to this is. well he asks muscular "what's up with you" one time in the middle of battle. that didn't work out. and then he had his nagant confrontation, where he was more shocked about her killing the former commission president than he was about the commission ordering a lot of evil assassinations. and then never thought about what that meant for society at large. and he was just like "well i know the world has some greys in it now" and that fixed her i guess. overhaul was there and deku made no real effort there to get why he was so frantic about seeing his boss. and then he has that conversation with ochaco where they both go "isn't it crazy that we have empathy for villains".
so basically the most work that he actually put into "understanding villains" was with nagant, who is a completely new character who has the baggage of "hero commission assassin is ANYONE in series gonna talk about that", and the potential she possesses as a shigaraki foil and a stepping stone for deku towards his endgame gets muddled. she's also basically, while a significant confrontation, is one beat of many in the third act.
so the set up for "understanding villains" as a factor in deku's endgame, in seeing villains as human, is pretty weak. and deku was honestly really dependent on getting that build up and using other villains as a learning experience, bc his actual dynamic with shigaraki is sparse. compare it to uraraka and toga - the "understanding" thread fares a lot better there, because uraraka has had specific and charged interactions with toga that deeply affected her and made her think. deku's most constructive interaction with shigaraki was way back at the mall, before the training camp, but that's not enough to carry chemistry through their supposed arc as hero & villain.
but the story already knows that deku, one way or another, is meant to succeed, so it acts like he received the necessary development to be able to understand shigaraki as human in their confrontation.
there's a similar lack of meat for many other aspects of deku's characters - like his relationship with the vestiges, where yoichi could be 2nd and 3rd around on deku's behalf, and his mastering of the new ofa quirks, which we get TOLD has consequences or that he's struggling with, but it's never in a way that actually causes him substantial issues that he must overcome.
but actually, we can move all of that aside and ask one simple question about deku's character: what does he think about the floating death coffin the other heroes built for shigaraki?
deku gets confronted by the vestiges about having to possibly kill shigaraki, and his response to that is "yeah i guess but i gotta try saving him". which is very nice, but it just ends there. deku doesn't have to deal with how everyone else - people who are scared, or have been hurt by shigaraki and the villain's actions - might feel about this initiative. at no point does deku have to stand his ground against the other heroes after shigaraki's head, he doesn't have to convince anyone of his point of view, he doesn't have to look inward and understand why he wants to do this. it's just "well if i can!"
deku doesn't have to have any thoughts about the floating death coffin. he never has to be in scene with it before it started malfunctioning. he doesn't have to have any opinions about its construction, about the heroes deciding to take this path. he doesn't need to have feelings about it, he just has to save shigaraki.
and when that happens, the narrative will celebrate him, and the heroes will be like "wow deku really is the greatest hero, kids these days are so great". they don't need to have thoughts about deku wanting to do this in the first place, because it's going to happen and no one can stop it.
in a similar way that some ofmd fans can walk away happy with season 2 because they don't need anything more than their otp standing together three feet apart, a lot of fans would be happy with deku and shigaraki's likely endgame because what matters is that deku is the hero and that he saves shigaraki. but from where i'm standing, deku has so little substance and build up to this endgame (or at least the build up is THERE, but poorly done) that it's hard for me to be impressed.
also everything @codenamesazanka said here. everything she says i nod and go hell yeah.

2023 Fic Recs!
Happy International Fanworks Day everybody!!! To celebrate, have some fic recs! These are some of my favorite works from last year! You know the drill- all completed last year, various ratings/lengths, nothing from multiple authors (although i was SO tempted, especially by @chocolateteapotsvis as always), and in complete random order.
Thank you to all of these lovely authors for brightening up my year! :D And also enabling my procrastination lolol
Halbarry, my otp, of course:

"It'll be okay," Hal soothes. "I don't need to know what's troubling you right now, but whatever it is, it'll be all right." "It focuses…on what…I want," Barry says through gritted teeth, like each word is painful to get out. Or maybe embarrassing? He peeks up at Hal through his fingers with a meaningful look, as if hoping Hal will understand…through osmosis? "Buddy, I can do a lot, but I can't read your mind."
When I Come Back, I'll Wear Your Wedding Ring by ketchup_monthly (General)
hal has some issues he needs to work through, but he loves his boyfriend very much. barry just wants to get married. aka: i wrote yet another halbarry fic furthering my "hal is a huge romantic" agenda

Buddie!
glue by ProsperDemeter (Teen and up) -this entire series is SO PERFECT
“It’s just…” Connor shrugged. “No offense, man, but… you’re twenty-five. Do you really want to be spending so much time falling for a guy with a kid?” “I’m not falling for him.” -- A month away from graduating the LAFD Academy, Evan Buckley gets introduced to new recruit Eddie Diaz and things certainly change for both of them after that. -- Another season one rewrite.
I'll Feel You Forget Me Like I Used to Feel You Breathe by turningthepages (Mature)
A car accident leaves Eddie without ten years of memories. He forgets meeting Buck, falling in love, getting married, and bringing two more kids into their life. As Eddie struggles to adjust to this new life, Buck struggles with being in love with someone who doesn't want to remember him. Oh, and they have really cute kids. or Just another Hollywood Amnesia story the fandom probably didn't need but lived in my head rent free for too long.
help me hold on to you by Ink_Dancer (Mature)
"You doing okay, Buck?" Eddie asked. Buck snorted. Loudly. It echoed. Eddie clicked his tongue. "Okay." He started moving again, coming over to Buck's side and starting to gather up an armful of takeout cartons. "What're you doing?" Buck asked. "I'm taking care of you," Eddie said firmly. "Because you're not doing a very good job." Or: Buck recovers slowly from the ladder truck, the Buckley-Diaz family goes stargazing, and Eddie and Buck get stuck in an attic during a house fire.
to your front door by hammersmiths (General)
Pepa’s been eyeing him all evening, so it shouldn’t be a surprise when she says, “Why aren’t you dating Eddie?” And yet Buck still nearly veers the car straight off the road.
maybe it's the way you lean on his shoulder by allyasavedtheday @littlespoonevan (Teen and up)
“Eddie,” she blurts. “Hi. Sorry. I didn’t realise you were here.” The sound of her voice makes him move and he quickly sets the knife down, offering her a warm smile. “Hey, Maddie. Don’t apologise; I’m not interrupting your schedule, am I?” “Oh no,” Maddie shakes her head quickly, waving the idea away. “The uh- the schedule’s been retired. I was just gonna make Buck dinner but-“ “Looks like we had the same idea, huh?” Eddie replies with a half-laugh. “Well, you’re welcome to join us. I’m making lasagne. It’s not quite on the level of Bobby’s famous four-cheese recipe but Buck’s still on a comfort food kick.” * In which Maddie realises there might be more to Buck and Eddie's relationship than she'd originally thought.
Stucky:
Werewolves in the Workplace by leveragehunters (Monkeygreen) @leveragehunters (Teen and up)
SHIELD was the only intelligence agency that assigned werewolf and vampire agents to work together in the field, but the program had been a staggering success. They compensated each other’s weaknesses, complemented each other’s strengths, and a werewolf could feed a vampire and shake off the effects faster than ordering a pizza. Bucky knew all that. What he didn't know was why this particular vampire, one Agent Steve Rogers, was holding out a protein bar. They were perched in the rafters of a warehouse, waiting for not-overly punctual arms dealers to show up and deal arms, had been stuck up here for a couple of hours, but none of that explained vampires suddenly offering snacks. In his near decade as a werewolf in SHIELD, Bucky had worked with a lot of vampires, and they all tended to be pretty much the same. Steve Rogers was different, didn't fit the vampire mould, and Bucky couldn't quite figure out why. Not that it really mattered. Steve was just someone he was occasionally paired with on SHIELD assignments. It wasn't like he was going to have any effect on Bucky's life.
Waking the Fire in Me by humapuma (Explicit)
Steve’s knees nearly went out from under him, but he grabbed onto the table to stay upright. He whined – he couldn’t help it. His chest cracked open, breaking him down until he was sixteen years old again, thin and sickly. The pale grey of those eyes was so familiar, but Steve hadn’t seen it, hadn’t even thought to look for it. How? A voice screamed inside. How did I not see? His entire being trembled as he whispered, “Bucky?” The Soldier’s usually cold eyes changed then, something flashed in them as his nostrils flared, harshly inhaling Steve’s scent before he said the words that finally made his buckling knees give out, forcing Steve to the ground. “Who the hell is Bucky?” A ghost found his way to the Avengers, asking for help - a ghost of a man long thought dead.
the time that's slipping by its_tortle @its-tortle (Teen and up)
“Hello?” she calls. Steve holds his breath again, even as he feels pressure build up behind his eyes. Because that’s his mother’s voice, and he hasn’t heard in twenty one (conscious) years. He doesn’t dare move. OR 'If Steve was going to travel back in time for anything before returning to his own timeline, it would be to see his mom again one last time'
Tongue in Cheek by rohruh (Explicit)
“No, no,” Bucky leans into his space, close enough that Steve can feel the warm tufts of his breath against his cheek, “go on.” “It’s just,” Steve’s not quite sure how to phrase this. He’s not sure what his motivation was in starting this whole conversation, really. “I guess I wish that I could kiss like that, is all.” Bucky stares at him, his eyes bright as the warm glow from the streetlight dances off of them. “I could teach you.” Steve’s mouth goes dry. “Teach me?” “Yeah,” Bucky snatches the joint out of his hand and leans back against the wall. “Give you a kissing lesson, or whatever.”
Backhoe by ZenaidaMacrouras @zenaidamacrouras1 (Explicit)
Steve Rogers is a seasoned activist and not at all afraid to get arrested while protesting the building of a pipeline. HOWEVER he is TERRIFIED when he realizes he’ll be chained to the same backhoe as Bucky “very handsome southern boy who also plays guitar and struts like a panther in his very tight, worn thin blue jeans” Barnes. Our brave, tiny Steve will find out once and for all: Can you catch on fire from blushing over your crush? May Contain: Extended descriptions of how to get arrested while chained to a backhoe, copious amounts of sisters, Appalachian accents, cheerful silliness interspersed with tragic background realness. Pining with a happy ending. Chicken related controversy. Tragic background realness mainly consists of parents passing away, because who doesn’t love adult orphans. Discussion of funerals. Very brief homophobic interaction in chapter 18 (marked in the chapter intro notes). There is no violence, but there are a few moments where you might think there might be violence. Overall this is a romance not a gritty, hard hitting documentary.
Various pairings:
Till You Find Your Dream by Kyele @timeforalongstory (Explicit) (Brudick)
You know, my child, that the orphanage cannot continue to support you once you become an adult.” The abbess sighs. “There is one path that is always open to you. You may choose a holy vocation, and take orders. The Sisters of Perpetual Grace will accept you as a postulant if you choose.” Dick had known to expect this. “Thank you, Reverend Mother,” Dick says respectfully, “but I cannot follow that path.” The Mother Superior nods. He looks unsurprised. “Then perhaps,” he says, “you would be interested to hear of another opportunity.” From the papers on his desk, the abbess removes a single sheet. “Are you familiar with Captain Wayne?” Dick accepts a position as governess to eight war-orphans, adopted by millionaire and WW1 flying ace Captain Bruce Wayne. The rest is inevitable.
Seven by HollyDB (Explicit) (Spuffy)
It's been months since Willow almost ended the world, and a tense summer has turned into an ominous fall in Sunnydale. Spike is back from wherever and acting weirder than usual, a new threat is rising that—for once—doesn't seem to stem from the hellmouth, and Buffy has no idea who to trust or what to believe. She also doesn’t have the luxury of time to figure it out. Some things never change.
Seven Lessons by Tessabeth (Mature) (Cazriel)
At Windhaven, teenage Cassian's in trouble again. As punishment he's paired with the strange shadowsinger who hangs around Devlon's headquarters. 40,000 words, ten chapters, complete. Some timeline tinkering. “You,” says Devlon, pointing at Cass, “need to learn self control. He’s got it. And you,” pointing at Azriel now, “need to learn to use those pathetic curtains you’re carrying around on your back, and this one knows how. So there you go. You’ve got a week. At the end of the week, I want both of you flying, and both of you able to put up a solid shield without blasting your comrades over a cliff. Now fuck off.” Azriel bends down to the Commander and murmurs something urgently in his ear. Tendrils of shadow writhe around his jaw. “No. No, I’ll manage it without you. I’ve let this go on too long; you’re too old for this bullshit. You can come back when you can fly. Go on, fuck off. And shut the door behind you.” Back out in the gelid dusk, the two look at each other warily. Azriel still says nothing. Cass sighs. “See you in the morning? Meet by the mess?” Azriel ducks his head in agreement, and disappears down an alleyway. It’s going to be a long week.
Desperate Times by Eienvine (General) (Sifki)
Sif sees the man’s lips curve up in a sharp, cruel smile. “I have long dreamed of seeing Odin on his knees, begging for his life. I cannot have that, but I can at least see his son beg for someone else’s life.” He won’t do it, Sif is certain; if there is one thing that can confidently be said about Loki, it is that he is horribly proud. And proud men do not beg. Not even to save her life.
Sit, Stay, Speak by Fenris13 @ragnarokhound (Explicit) (Jaytim)
“He’s not here. Just his suit,” he tells Babs, gathering up the costume. “The apartment’s untouched, but downstairs looks like a hurricane went through it.” There’s a crackling hiss through the receiver as she sighs, tense. “Shit. Okay. Is there anything—?” “That’s not all,” he interrupts, standing up with an apprehensive look at his unexpected new companion. “There’s a dog.”
and tell the ones you love (you love them) by LadyMerlin (Teen and up) (Jaytim)
Weeks pass and the clan remains occupied with the chaos that is Gotham. It’s no busier than usual, but Bruce feels himself tiring easily, still recovering from his involuntary jaunt through the timestream. Everyone is remarkably kind to him, giving him time and space to recover. Unfortunately, all that time gives him, well… a lot of time to think. To consider. To analyse the changes that have occurred during his absence. There are new alliances, new tensions, shifting fault lines in the geology of his family. He reminds himself that this is the best case scenario; that everyone is still alive and well, that things could have gone much worse. But he can’t help but feel there’s something he’s still missing. Something he hasn't been told. AKA: the one where Bruce learns how to use his words, and tries not to be too nosy about his children's love lives.
those kind of friends by gabrieeella (Mature) (Jeronica)
He remembered the first time he’d seen her wear her hair like that, the way it’d unsettled him a little. It was so Betty-like, and yet not Betty-like at all. Betty’s ponytail moved like spilled sunlight. Veronica’s swung around like a guillotine. Or, a series of unexpected late-night encounters force an ever-distant Jughead and Veronica to explore who they really are (and could be) to each other.
you dug my heart a grave by jilliancares @jilliancares (General) (Spideypool)
He’s laying there, groaning and in pain and clutching his ribs, but even worse— [Really? Is it really worse? Give it a good, hard think and tell me if this is worse.] —but even worse, sparks are flying. Literally. Or: Wade realizes that Spidey is his soulmate.

We're back with more community faves! The coven loves sharing these recs and we know the creators are so happy to see the blurbs about why you are so fond of these pieces.
Check them out and leave some comments and kudos!
==============
“After the Proposal” and other comics (@smileyrice) “I don’t know how to find all of smileyrice’s SC fanart works in one place but this adorable bit is emblematic of the drawings, comics, sketches, and other works depicting day-to-day scenes and stories of David and Patrick’s lives. All of smileyrice’s art is just precious and beautiful. The stories are adorable and the design/look of the comics is at once true to the canon and quite original. I love them very much and am grateful to be able to revisit them often.”
All things being equal (surreal) “It's such an honest and beautiful look at disability and representation, but not in a gimmicky way. It's really just a love story, for the OTP we all hold so dear, with one little thing changed. Also, the level of healthy communication in this is like 27/10.”
the ever and ever that fiction allows (lookingforshadows) “An underrated, sparkling gem of a fic.”
Happy Golden Days of Yore (@blueink3)  “It’s my annual Christmas Eve read (and often times in between when I need a good cry with a happy ending). Divorced David and Patrick are so broken without each other and this fic heals them in the best possible way. It is sob-inducing but so satisfying in the end. The writing is superb.”
The Immortals of Schitt’s Creek (middyblue) “I love the magical realism in this fandom and this fic was one of the firsts for me and I come back to it often. There’s seasonal vibes, drama, bittersweet realities, fluff, smut, and everything in between.”
Improv piecing (@my-nameless-bliss) “David feels that love is like fabric. He’s used to having to piece together scraps to have enough, but Patrick has him rethinking the metaphor. I love this peek into David’s head—the bits of his history, the careful consideration of people’s motivations, the focus on figuring out how to do this early relationship “correctly.” Nameless_bliss has such a gift for sounding relaxed and effortless while actually packing a lot of thought and emotion into each section.”
It’s Time (@lisamc-21) “I keep going back to this. It's not the longest fic yet you still feel the years of pining that happened prior to where this story starts. I love a good friends to lovers fic and this is one of my faves!”
Moon Shot (@resilientrose) “This fic is beautifully written with a captivating plot and wonderful characterisation. The angst will make you hurt but the payoff is well worth it. A fabulous college AU with art student David and baseball player Patrick.”
Small projects (GClane) “It's gentle, but packs a massive punch.“
This Time Around (@distractivate) “Secret dating when a boyband gets back together, weaves in the characters so well and you can't help but be into each new turn the D&P relationship takes!”

Praeteritum Asks! Desperately want to know more about Elizabeth , her hobbies and if she was born in the church, how she met Primo, how they started dating, etc. I just love them, OTP right there.
Tumblr media
I'm sorry this took a while, but I can't even begin to express how excited this ask made me! I went a bit overboard so bare with me there is A LOT under the cut. There's some super messy sketches to go along with it all too lol 👻
Thank you so much for the ask, I hope you enjoy 🖤
Elizabeth and Primo have known each other for a very long time. She was born in the church with her family having a significant amount of influence among the higher clergymen. Her father had been a cardinal for a time even back when Nihil was Papa. Primo's eyes locked onto Eliza ever since he first saw her during the first ritual he led as a bishop, and he could never look away again. Primo married her when he became a cardinal, but it wasn't until he was close to becoming Papa himself did he and Eliza start to have dreams. Lilith would regularly come to Eliza, claiming her a her as one of her spiritual daughters that was destined to take the position of Prime Mover, which hadn't been present in the church since Nihil was a boy. Primo and Eliza will regularly perform the divine ritual of conceiving the antichrist, yet despite being married for many, many decades, he is still stunned every time he sees her walk to him. Since Primo is often used as some what of an oracle for the Pseudomonarchia, this little human behavior can be a bit annoying, which of course they voice to their poor chosen vessel in his head... all at once. Thankfully Lilith is dominantly present during every conception ritual.
Their relationship is one you can really only achieve after knowing someone for a very long time. Despite leading very involved lives in the church, even after Primo steps down as Papa, they naturally gravitate back towards each other at some point during the day.
Tumblr media
Primo can get fairly cynical and dark at times, bordering on resentful, and that's not only because he's had to do some shit to please Satanas- thanks Imperator. Eliza never fails to reel her husband back in and calm him, just as Primo can put a smile on Eliza's face without necessarily even trying. This isn't to say Eliza doesn't have a darkness to her as well, she's just a bit more subtle about it. An enraged Papa Emeritus I is not a dark entity that the church or any unwanted individuals that have wandered onto the unblessed grounds wants to witness again- they have had the fortune of not yet witnessing it from Prime Mover Elizabeth. However, Eliza and Primo at their cores are good and love their family and the siblings of sin very much. And with that, let's get into Eliza's duties and her relationships! ^^
Tumblr media
Of course, other than helping her Papa in their garden, the Prime Mover is very involved with the children in the church. She is a wise and patient maternal figure that has an extensive amount of knowledge on herbal medicines, the dark arts, and other teachings that she gently exposes the children to. Never would she force these practices upon them, but rather guide them and allow their paths that Lucifer has already paved for them to direct them towards a certain interest or specialty. While Eliza does have the help of her ghoulettes Cirrus and Cumulus, which Primo summoned to help his wife during her first year as Prime Mover, her new assistant, Sister Natalia, helps her with the younger children very often. Natalia is young and has only recently taken her final vows to be an official sister of sin, as she'd previously been connected to a Catholic order... but she is never the less an eager, fast learner that Eliza sees a great deal of promise in. Her close relationship with a certain Cardinal and his ghouls gave the Prime Mover the idea of introducing the children early on to the ghouls, so as to reduce intimidation and see them as helpers and protectors rather than beings to fear. Sodo and Mountain were used during this little trial meeting, and it went better than you would expect. (Mountain put a flower on his head to try and make his nearly 8 feet tall ghoul ass look less scary).
Perhaps her favorite duty, which she sees as more of a privilege, is being a mentor to her niece, Bellamy. Despite the situation being a bit complicated and accidental, Sister Diana and Papa Secondo's daughter is adored within the church. Little Bellamy is very curious and bright, with a bit of her father's sharp tongue and her mother's serenity in the face of the hellish things that surround her. (I'll do one of these for Diana and Bellamy if you guys want!)
Tumblr media
As I mentioned, Eliza met Primo when he was a Bishop, so by extension she has known his brothers since they were quite young. Her interactions range from teasing to mothering, but never in an overbearing way. One of the reasons Primo fell so hard for her was because of her care towards his younger brothers and little Cardi, who Terzo would often be dragging along with him to get into trouble when they were children. The Prime Mover is also very close to Sister Diana, as she will often gentle pester Papa Secondo to marry Diana already, but she's been unsuccessful so far.
The cardinals worry her, but for different reasons. Terzo seems to run straight forward into the fires of Hell with reckless abandon, while Copia drowns himself in his work far too much for her taste. Satanas help her when Papa decides to lead a ritual with BOTH of his cardinals involved.
Tumblr media
Her least favorite relationships are with Sister Imperator and Papa Nihil. They don't always see eye to eye, but Imperator and her work well enough together to make important decisions within the ministry. They get along, as long as Imperator doesn't start making vague threats towards her boys.
Papa Nihil on the the other hand, she respects, but she finds herself praying more often than not for patience while holding the sacrificial bowl containing his offering. It doesn't matter what the ritual or sacrifice demands of this man, Nihil takes this as an chance to vent to Eliza, literally and metaphorically bleeding himself out. Thankfully Nihil has a level of appreciation for Eliza. Her father had been one of his cardinals after all. Unfortunately he doesn't have the same appreciation for his own sons, but does seem to be somewhat interested in Bellamy's upbringing.
Also, I know there's a lot going on in that last sketch, so to summarize: Nihil thinks Secondo is getting too distracted with Sister Diana and Bellamy, but can't complain too much since he continued the blood line. He thinks Primo had more to give and doesn't under stand his decision to step down, and REALLY doesn't understand why Eliza and him haven't had a child of their own yet. Terzo is the golden child but his rebellion is starting to get on Nihil's nerves. He's too stubborn to admit that Terzo and Copia posing as priests in a Catholic Church during a mass that was live broadcasted that one time was a pretty damn funny-(That rumor that Nihil mentioned about Terzo and an ex- Catholic nun is pretty shocking, I wonder if it's true...) And of course, Copia just existing irritates him.
For various reasons, Eliza has yet to become a mother, and while she is satisfied with her life as it is, that is one of the few things that actually distress her greatly. She feels as though she is not fulfilling her duty, and more so, she deeply desires a child of her own. She may not show it outwardly, but the rest of the family can tell the topic upsets her sometimes. So when Imperator or Nihil bring it up, arguments are bound to start in her defense.
Let me know what you guys want to learn more about next 🖤

DRAMA REC: So I feel like any real review of Thai drama Moonlight Chicken is hard without heavy spoilers because honestly I don't know how to talk about what makes me passionate about it without discussing all the character relevations that occur over the course of its 8 episodes. I'll try to be generic as much as I can.
The thing about why it's hard to discuss without spoilers is that the characters and their full baggage are revealed slowly episode by episode, because like in real life you often learn about new friends & love interests slowly as intimacy deepens...
But from what I can see online, it's very subjective for viewers - depends on the person if they find these themes and personal challenges compelling or not. This doesn't fit with the typical "BL asian drama" format.
My personal viewing stake: There's an otp that has TAKEN OVER MY BRAIN. I have been searching for this energy ever since finishing Lighter & Princess. Gotta confess that I couldn't care less about the second couple who are teenagers. Apparently MDL and a lot of tumblr only liked the teen couple (valid!), but I just skipped over them mostly because when my brain locks in on Real Adults with Adult Problems I often cease to connect to high school student storylines. But the age gap couple with a 39 year old character who is FEELING his age... Jim & Wen. I've watched all 8 episodes now and they are like cocaine to me.
Ep 1 setup: We're not in Bangkok! (gasp) Jim is almost-40 and runs a late night diner in the less upscale part of town. Wen, about 10 years younger, is drunk at his diner as he's trying to close for the night. They pick up on the unspoken signals, instant electric connection, and end up wandering back to Jim's place and having what looks like fantastic sex together (without exchanging names).
But then after that first night, in the remaining 7 ep of the show you get a slowburn build up from zero as Jim doesn't want a relationship - with anyone. This is truly, sincerely a 'it's not you, it's me" situation. He is mired in baggage and the angst is SO DELICIOUS to me. Angst and soft hand touches and late night conversation. There's YEARNING. SO MUCH YEARNING.
Tumblr media
And then my darling Wen! Who brings almost the same energy as the Lighter and Princess FL. @dangermousie I never thought I'd see this irrepressible determination and tender, good humored patience again! He is deeply sure that there is something special here with Jim and is unrelenting about trying to scale Jim's walls. I know that sounds like psychotic SML material lmao but it's all about the tone and context. It's very clear that Jim is allowing Wen in his life and doesn't, deep down, want Wen to give up on him. He's damaged and scared but I always felt he wants Wen to be right - that they are falling in love and can build something real together. He just can't make himself take that step. I mean, in their 2nd meeting he is EQUALLY INSANE to agree that it's v normal and hinged behavior to let his 1 night stand start randomly showing up to work shifts at his diner as 'temp staff' he can't afford to pay because... um. Basically to stalk him? idk I don't think it's stalking when u have a mutual agreement?? 🤔
Wen falling deeper into Jim and KNOWING the feeling is mutual no matter how many times he's (so gently!) pushed back... can be sooooo personal. 😭😭😭 The vibes of this "we're Not Together™" but it's inevitable, I'm just waiting for the timing to be right... reminiscent of the last 10 episodes of Lighter & Princess. This building intimacy and tenderness that stretches on until as a viewer you feel like... They ARE in love, they're together but just without the sex. They just have to stabilize their lives first before committing whole-heartedly. THE BITTERSWEET PINGING. (screams)
One thing I've observed is many people seem to struggle to connect with Jim's character. The closest thing we have to a protagonist (?) Maybe. Anyway, I suspect it might be a generational thing. I found the drama incredibly compelling, but I grew up queer in the 80s and 90s. I'm well into my 40s, a bit older than Jim, but I think the generational queer experience overlaps pretty well considering the sociopolitical differences btw us/thailand.
The screenwriter is an older out gay man, so I presume that's also a factor in how he did a pitch-perfect depiction of Jim's struggles to find home.
Wen has his own baggage that feels very real and raw. I loved his storyline because I could personally relate to it also from my queer relationship experience.
I've blabbered on here before about how I feel like there's something different about queer stories being told to other queers, not targeted to straight viewers primarily - I'm not saying it's better than the big brands and popular international media including lgbt rep. It's just different imo and I do think it's valuable. I want to see stories about the complexities of the experience & about the gay community that can't just be mapped to straight people. Where the story would not feel the same if you flipped the sexualities. That's what Midnight Chicken was to me: the characters of Jim and Wen and their personal development & slow love story together felt very queer and the age gap was a relevant part of this. And that called to me. I could recognize parts of myself in them and my personal experiences as a gay woman.
I was impressed by the writing. Strong acting. The directing of individual scenes is excellent BUT the 1 big flaw is the editing. Very amateur, super abrupt scene changes! Just jarring. But whatever, I've seen some terrible editing in cdramas too. Also note the storytelling tactic is to show a series of meaningful moments & interactions over like 6-8 months of time. Events progress in ways we don't always see and it's not always spelled out to the audience, everything that happened since we last saw them. That may or may not work for the viewer.
[Plus there's a very sweet & wholesome teen love story that also gets a happy ending, if you're into that. One of the teens is deaf and there's no "cure the disability" nonsense, don't worry. I was adult-focused but I did appreciate the complicated family relationship subplot with Jim trying to caretake his nephew and their relationship to the mostly-absent sister.]
ok so now into spoiler territory. Letting the relevations come out organically would be a much better viewing experience BUT...
SPOILERS ON JIM & WEN BACKSTORY
Jim's whole deal is he had a big love in his late 20s-early 30s that fucked him up good. He grew up being told gay love isn't real, leaves his rural farming town with his sister in their teens, disconnected from his family... But even his sister, who loves him, had the perspective that it's Just A Phase. Jim expects to Prove Them Wrong. Then his boyfriend cheats on him.... With a woman. Activate that generation's internalized homophobia and self-doubt. And then before he gets to truly confront his partner, his partner dies in an accident. So he never gets resolution.
And he's stuck under a mountain of debt, on the edge of poverty because he didn't get any of the guy's assets when he died of course. No rights under Thai law. Partner's family takes it all but the old car & the cat. All he has is the small chicken rice shop they had bought and ran together and it's killing him, he both hates and loves it. He's this amazing member of the local community but doesn't see himself and his own worth clearly.
Wen is working through the guilt of falling out of love from his 1st gay relationship that lasted 5 years of his 20s. Broken up but still living together. Trying to stay in each other's lives (I've seen this a lot, because in small gay communities you don't just cut ties with good people you care about). But living together is toxic for both of them, despite the real care that's there.
He also feels disconnected from a community at the start. He has work collegues, all straight friends, and his now-ex boyfriend. But you get the subtle sense that his local ties are all with the boyfriend Alan's family and mutual friends with Alan who don't all know about the breakup yet and he doesn't know how to interface with them anymore now that he and Alan aren't the same. He's the one who fell out of love, so he's "the bad guy" here and the straight friend he tries to talk to about trying to co-habititate with his ex and stay close friends doesn't really get it, because that's just way more typical behavior for older generation queers - it's notable that when the situation is fully explained to Jim, he doesn't seem to find it bizarre at all (as said, I've gone through that myself, and known friends in that situation; found that subplot to be very well done.) (I read that many viewers were disappointed this wasn't a standard infidelity situation where Wen is just regular cheating on Alan, but I have to say that I feel the opposite. The subplot and how it played out felt very relatable to me. I didn't need a cheating angst plotline in this drama that could be transplanted into a straight drama. I wanted more stories that represented my lived experience as an adult lesbian, and Wen's narrative gave me that.)
Wen keeps searching for a home even while living with Alan and having loved him in the past. Which to me was a sign that he'd moved to this smaller city, living in Alan's condo and in Alan's life with Alan's extended family... He started eating beef because Alan did and following along. He doesn't know where HE feels at home, what Wen needs to be comfortable and happy. When he more & more starts to believe he can make this home with Jim, he's determined to make it happen.

Imagine your OTP saying I love youto each other five times without the actual (romantic) meaning of it. + if one time they say it right
Peterpatterlina
Julie wasn't sure she was breathing as she waited for Mr. Brunner to return her math test. Calculus had never been her strongest subject, and this test was a big one-so she had reason to be nervous.
"Hey," Reggie whispered. "You'll do great, I just know it."
"If I do it's only because you tutored me," Julie replied.
Unlike Julie, Reggie excelled at math, so when he heard she needed help, he was happy to offer his services. It got him out of his house in the afternoons and neither of them mentioned how Ray slipped him a few bucks after each session.
The tests were handed back and Julie turned hers over with trembling fingers. Preparing to see a sea of red when she looked. But... as she looked it over, there was almost no red there. And a big fat 82% on the top.
"Oh my god!" she shrieked, turning and shoving it in Reggie's face. "Look!"
"Told you that you had this," he said with a smirk.
"Because of you," she replied. "Reggie I love you."
He grinned. "Love you too Jules. Now let's get to lunch. Your treat."
2. Luke stuck his tongue out of his mouth as he worked on his latest song. It was almost perfect, but the bridge was giving him trouble.
"Need a hand?" Julie asked from her spot besides him on the couch. They had both been absorbed in their own song, hanging out in her garage as they often did, not needing to talk, just swap songs when they needed to.
"Yeah, this bridge is killing me," Luke replied, handing over his notebook. "You?"
"Nah, I'm good," Julie replied, humming the tune to his song, making little notations along the margins regarding tempo, then came to the bridge part. She then started writing, scribbling madly and Luke had to sit back in awe as she made something work that had flummoxed him so badly. "How's that?"
Luke looked it over, and then a wide smile split his face. "Molina I love you and your beautiful brain."
She smiled back. "The feeling's mutual. Now let's see if we can fix the chorus."
"Wait, what's wrong with the chorus?"
3. Reggie slipped through his window, creeping around the house and then jumped on his bike, taking off towards Luke's house.
Sure it was late at night, but Luke barely ever slept, and honestly Reggie knew he wouldn't either if he stayed at his house. Not with his parents going at it like they were. Plus Luke had offered Reggie a place to go any time he needed.
Thankfully it was a short bike ride, and he quickly stashed his ride in the back yard, so as to not piss Mrs. P off. He knocked against Luke's window where there was still a light on, and Luke opened it up, giving him his infamous boyish grin.
"Hey Reg. Hop on in."
Reggie grinned, hoisting himself over the ledge, and threw off his leather jacket. "Thanks. The folks were re-enacting World War Two in the living room, I needed an out."
"I told you, any time," Luke replied, sitting himself back on his bed. "You wanna cuddle or the sleeping bag?"
"Cuddles please," he said, shucking off his jeans as Luke killed the light. Climbing in beside Luke, letting himself be pulled into those arms of his. "Thanks Lu. Love you."
"Sweet dreams Reg."
4. The applause was still ringing out as Julie and the Phantoms left the stage, the four of them beaming as they entered their green room.
"That was legendary!" Luke whooped as he launched himself back onto the couch.
"I can't believe we actually did that!" Reggie exclaimed, rubbing his face with a towel.
Alex was buried in Willie's arms but shot them all a pleased smile, even as it looked like he was ready to doze off then and there.
"Guys... we just played The Orpheum," Julie exhaled. "We could go real places from here."
"To the top boss!" Luke grinned, but then noticed Julie's watery eyes. "Hey, what's wrong?"
"It's just... I wish my mom was here for this."
The boys immediately got up and gathered her in a hug. Giving her all the support they could, even if they could never replace her mom. Julie sniffled and hugged them back. "Love you guys so much."
"Love you too boss," Luke replied.
"Forever and always," Reggie echoed.
5. Julie fluffed her hair in the mirror, and applied another layer of lip gloss before exiting her room. "How do I look?"
Reggie gave an exaggerated whistle while Luke pretended to use an imaginary camera, causing Julie to blush as she waved them off. "Thanks guys."
"Where you going Jules?" Reggie asked.
"Hot date," she replied, packing up her purse. "Dinner and a movie, but felt like making an effort. I really like this guy."
Luke felt a churning in his gut at that, sharing a look with Reggie. They had both discovered they had feelings for Julie long ago, and each other. But they had decided to not butcher their friendship and the band, the would keep their feelings to themselves.
Now it was coming back to bite them.
"Alright, I'm gone. Don't wait up!" Julie called at the door. "Love ya!"
"Be safe!" Reggie called.
"Have fun!" Luke added.
The door closed behind her and the boys shared another look-the sentiment clear. Fuck.
+1. Luke and Reggie decided to wait up-they both knew neither of them would be able to sleep until Julie got home.
But of course, neither of them could stay focused on any one thing either. Songs were all full of longing and scratched out phrases about unrequited love. Books got rifled through and tossed aside. Games were distracted button mashes.
"How long has she been gone?" Luke asked.
Reggie glanced at the clock. "Hour tops."
"Fuck," Luke said, tossing his head back onto the couch. "We gotta tell her Reg."
"I know," he replied, thought it was a mere whisper. "I think we might be too late though."
"Too late for what?"
They turned and saw Julie standing in the doorway, make up streaked down her face, looking much less jubilant than she had when she left.
"Julie!" Luke exclaimed coming over to hug her. "What happened?"
Reggie rushed to give her a wipes so she could clean her face, embracing her as she trembled in their hold. "Do we need to kill this guy?"
"You'd have to get in line," Julie snorted. "He seemed so nice online and then he was an arrogant, racist jerk in real life so I kicked him in the balls before I left."
"Good on ya boss," Luke chuckled.
"You deserve so much better than that waste of space," Reggie added, directing them all to the couch.
Julie sighed, relaxing back into the cushions. "I know, but every guy I like is either a jerk, or into someone else or..."
"Or?" Luke asked.
"Or it's more than one person. Both of whom I love like crazy, neither of whom I can be with because it will ruin everything," Julie finished, though her words were muffled from where her face was buried in her hands.
"Julie..." Reggie started, looking at Luke who nodded at him. "Julie, you know that they love you back right?"
"And not as friends, not as a sister or bandmate," Luke added. "Head over heels, hearts on our sleeves, completely gaga in love with you."
"Really?" Julie asked, lifting her head, looking hopeful. "You never said-neither of you!"
"Well neither did you!" Reggie replied, then laughed. "We're all idiots."
"We wasted too much time hung up on what ifs and maybes and worries," Luke said.
"We have lots of time left," Julie replied. "I love you both, you both love me..."
"And each other," Reggie piped up. "So what do you want to do about it?"
"Turn on a movie and see where the night takes us?" Julie suggested.
"We can get a pizza, since I doubt you ate," Luke added.
"Sounds like a perfect first date," Julie replied.
From then on out, they knew that every time they said I love you, it meant in the way they had always hoped, even if Alex claimed they said it to excess some times. But they never got tired of saying it, hearing it, and most of all, feeling it.
And they had a lifetime to do just that.

Character ask for Donna!
And thank you! 🤗
Sexuality (canon): Heterosexual, heteromantic, allosexual, alloromantic.
Sexuality headcanon: Generally heterosexual/heteromantic but intrigued by the possibilities of her being bisexual/biromantic. The rest is the same as above.
Gender Identity (canon): Cis female often with (for the 1970s) gender non-conforming expression.
Gender Identity headcanon: Nonbinary, social dysphoria with some but rare physical dysphoria. (But since the term nonbinary hadn't yet been coined until the late 1990s, and people's understanding of gender in the U.S. was very limited in the 1970s, she can't self-identity as nonbinary. She has neither the concept nor the words to explain how she experiences her internal sense of gender. So she lives with social gender dysphoria and rationalizes it away by thinking many types of women exist, so she simply doesn't fit what's typically expected a woman to be. Compartmentalizes her dysphoria for decades until society catches up with whom she actually is and has the words to explain it.)
Otp: Donna and Eric
Sistp: Donna and Jackie.
Notp(s): Donna/Mitch, Donna/Casey.
General Headcanon: If Donna and Casey had consummated their relationship sexually, she might have developed an even stronger self-delusion about the reality of their relationship and Casey's nature. Her relationship with him is a form of narcotizing her grief from losing her mom and Eric. Hyperfixating on Casey, suppressing her personality and beliefs to be more like him and his, might have broken her when Casey calls off their relationship. She would need quite a while with a romantic relationship (and time in therapy) to recover healthily.
Opinion on the Character: My meta In Defense of Donna expresses much of my opinion. But she, like Eric, is deprived of the chance to keep growing and changing because of the rush to the engagement storyline in season 5. She becomes stagnant as a character, goes without significant development in seasons 5-7 (the engagement arc is plot-focused, not character-focused -- with some exception).
The writers also wasted the opportunity to develop her relationship with Jackie during seasons 5 and 6 when Jackie lives with her and their parents date.

Sooo I came [back] to the SPN fandom after many many years of being completely out and [thanks to my dearest] this time I'm going to fully dedicate myself to wincest.
Naturally, I'm a multishipper. I don't care much how many other pairings with my fav chars exist / usually I ship more than one thing per fandom or per character.
But them. Oh, them.
The Winchesters. Sam and Dean. Dean and Sam. I hear how their names merge in my head into something entwisted so much it'll never get unraveled again.
They. Have. Everything.
In my usual little doll plays with the characters I prefer to go rather dark. Rather sick. Sometimes, rather dirty. Not for the sake of general evilness, naturally and inevitably inherent to being an artist, but for the sake of feelings.
The contrast is better where it's darker. The light is brighter. The love is sweeter when there's pain, the hope is luminous when there's despair. The contrast enhances the emotional impact.
But Dean and Sam? Sam and Dean?
They already have it. They have everything and anything. The pitch black and the beam light. It's been made canon, probably, years ago.
Then I thought: what had ever made my brain go full-time crazy mod? What had ever squeezed my heart so tight I couldn't breathe?
Here are some of the best [imo] moment of my other fandom's biggest OTPs. Some ships are canon, some are not. But all of the moments DID canonically happens. [I'm using X & Y so it's more descriptive]
X & Y are constantly being forced to fight each other despite their genuine connection. the forcing power massively prevails their own. that's how their relationship starts... and how it ends, with X finally forced to kill Y. then X has to restart the whole world so they could be together again.
X & Y met when both were mentally down and then spent a horrible amount of time being tortured in the cruelest way alongside each other. later, they could let go of their twisted connection. but they don't.
X silently begs Y to kill him after committing the Literally Worst Crimes Possible for which he'll never forgive himself. Y complies. Y never stops thinking about X.
X spends his whole life protecting Y with growing understanding that Y will never accept his nature.
X sacrifices himself sexually, mentally and physically at once to the person he despises the most - simply in order for Y to get away from that monster.
X (who's kind of been a psycho murderer) went through a terrible experience where half his personality got destroyed. Y takes care of him despite the previous attempt of X to kill Y in cold blood. They end up fixing it (in a way).
X is obsessed with Y to a weird, absolutely not redeemable level. Body dismemberment included.
X is successfuly fighting the massive-level brainwashing so he doesn't hurt Y, although everyone they both knew and loved die around them.
X goes so mental after Y dies that he is committing a terrorist attack suicide so the world could feel their pain.
X goes full on self-sacrifice during a rescue attempt for Y [okay that's way more than one thing but it gets me every time!]
X says "Hey Y, we die together or no way at all". and so they do.
X never recovers after betraying Y and later goes through big torture time with the thought it was deserved for that betrayal.
X & Y [& a kid] slash through an endless amount of enemies so they could be a family together
X & Y are destined to be together but they go "fuck destiny"... and stay together for who they are.
X & Y fight together against a clearly overpowered villain. and win.
X & Y seem to desperately want to finish each other off but never act upon it when there's an opportunity. they're so different that they're the same.
X dies in a stupid accident. Y tries to save his life, and, when it's not possible anymore, dies alongside, refusing to live in a world without him.
X dies and Y can't let go of the corpse. Even when the rotting visibly starts.
X has memory issues but he's done some terrible things (child murder, massacre). There is solid proof. Y does not believe that for a second, because Y knows X to the core.
None, I mean it, none of these is wincest.
But, looking back... How many of them fit to be? How many of them could fit with the right situation? How many of literally (imo) most heart-moving tropes seem to be made for this pairing of brothers whose love trascends any normal limits?
So, yeah... I'm really gonna dedicate myself to wincest these days.

in reference to prev post I joke about loving divorce on here a lot but in full sincerity t'pring and her story is a GREAT example of why I genuinely, unironically think divorce is a beautiful thing. as much as people have a right to their opinions about fictional ships and if seeing two people stick with a relationship through thick and thin appeals to you then each to their own, but in real life the idea of relationships being Work, as in the capitalist sense of a job you have to do in order to be financially secure enough to live, has historically been a major tool of the patriarchy in restricting women's freedom. divorce, especially no fault divorce, can be argued to be as crucial to women's freedom as the right to work and the right to vote. if you don't have legal recourse to end a marriage once you've entered it, and you live in a patriarchal society where your husband has more money and social standing than you, you are essentially a prisoner.
t'pring is a perfect example of this bc although I don't know if we ever find out the Vulcan stance on divorce, the fact that she isn't able to break off the engagement without having her fiance killed is pretty telling!! this story is very much of its time in the 60s and I'm glad that trek is no longer characterising the Vulcans as quite so extreme, but I also Love the way T'Pring gets to logic her way out of a situation that wouldve seen her (and Spock) trapped and unhappy for the rest of her long life.
I think that a lot of fandom attitudes reflect/magnify the wider patriarchal disdain for divorce, the whole idea of an otp and wanting your ship to be endgame isn't bad on its own but when people are aggressively against the idea they could ever split up, even amicably, it makes me wonder why the ending of a Disney movie is the ultimate romantic ideal for them. jokes about a divorced female character always characterise her as calculating, self-serving and wealthy whereas jokes about a divorced male character always show him as sad, pathetic, barely keeping himself presentable (like single men can't wash clothes for themselves) (i know many of them can't but why are you normalising this??).
although I said each to their own before, it does ring alarm bells for me when people look at a ship where the male character mistreats his love interest, and decide that they want to see them stick it out and make things work. does she have to teach him how to respect her in this vision? why does the sunk cost fallacy not apply? would you feel the same if your male blorbo was with a woman who didn't see him as a full person, or are you already writing her out to replace her with a guy?
I think it's frustrating for me to see people make the same assumptions with fiction that in reality have led women I know and love to waste months to years of their life trying to "fix" a relationship that was never functional to begin with with a man who refuses to do the bare minimum. so in conclusion, I am not being a bitch or a hater and am in fact speaking with a heart full of love and wonder at the vast spectrum of possibilities for life and relationships when I say ✨Divorce Him✨

for the OTP ask meme: 14 and 51 for Webgott (or whichever ship where that's an interesting question/whichever you want lol)
[Ask me about my OTPs]
Thanks for the ask :D I love the questions you picked, they're difficult but in a great way :3
14: How do their personalities compliment each other? How do they clash?
So to me, the way David is portrayed in the series makes him seem like a guy that's even-tempered enough people may wonder if anything actually gets to him, who can definitely be oblivious to how things and people work (I mean, the guy is out of a war for 4 months, comes back, and it apparently doesn't occur to him that the guys he doesn't see right away might be injured or dead? Come on.) In my headcanon, part of this even-tempered-ness exists because he got lucky and is just like, emotionally solid, so to speak, but another part of it is also that I headcanon him as someone who doesn't always realize he has Feelings about Stuff, until they bubble up and he finds himself snapping about it.
(Full disclosure: my headcanon of Web is a little bit autistic-leaning, but I think his spot on the spectrum would be one where he'd go under the radar until and unless something made it impossible for him to arrange his life in a way that accomodates his needs)
Meanwhile, Joe definitely knows when he feels things, he's just generally not happy about feeling them and has a tendency to make it everyone else's problem. (Or Web's, once they get together.) I think, in a way, the reason he ribs Web constantly (seemingly especially after he comes back from the hospital?) is because he can't wrap his head around the concept of a guy who's been living the same shit Joe has and seems to be as affected by that as a a dog is affected by the theory of relativity. I think it just doesn't compute, and at least his earlier niggling is partially a scientific experiment to see if he can Make This Guy Emote.
Which of course, to Web (who is oblivious and doesn't realize his apparent mental stability in the face of Everything is odd) probably feels like gratuitous targeted harrassment until he figures out how to read Joe and realize that actually this is just an elaborate form of pigtails-pulling (or at least it becomes that after a while)
So, like. Overall I think Web and Lieb compliment each other in the same places they clash: Web doesn't know what he feels most of the time but has no issues talking about it when he does, which Joe finds both fascinating and frustrating because who the fuck rolls over on their back and bares their chest like that on a regular basis, am I right? He thinks it's breathtakingly brave stupid.
Meanwhile, Joe will bite your head off before he admits that he like strawberry cake over chocolate, actually, but because Web is already used to having to retroengineer his emotions from context clues (and he's trying to figure out why Joe hates him specifically) he ends up accidentally figuring out a whole lot about Joe that other people don't, which then gives him the necessary insight to respond to what Joe is externalizing rather than what he's saying which in turn makes him possibly the best person for Joe to hang out with.
51: What’s a non verbal way they say I love you?
Honestly? All the ways. As in, I think they probably go like, ten or twenty years without ever actually using the words, mostly because again, Joe is allergic, and by the time Web realizes it he's already been showing it for a while anyway.
I would say the most deliberate way Web says this to Joe is to get him food, especially greasy or sweet food on a semi-regular basis. Forget flowers: David knows that as far as Lieb is concerned, love is stored in the butter.
For Joe, I think when he actually tries to show affection he does it by seeking out activities that are relevant to David's interests (though not without complaining, of course). This ranges from spontaneously giving David his gracious permission to drag him to the sea so thay can go sailing, to saving for three months so they can drive up to that conference about sharks two states over.

First Impression
-Definitely falling under the average green ranger stereotype of being the silly but less engaged member of the team, though that is quite alright cause he'll probably give some positivity to the team due to the state they are in via the season
How I Feel About The Character/Impression Now
-.....I love this twink and honestly me and everyone else should love him, the fact that he was in a mafia, managed to escape, gave medicine and supplies from said group to orphans in needed AND GOT OFF SCOT FREE WITH HIS TOASTER BOYFRIEND speaks volumes.
Favorite Moment
-So far has to be that scene between him and the cartel where he's got that serious face, I'll have to go back and fully complete RPM but seeing Ziggy look so cold is amazing.
Idea For A Story
-okay think of this....Ziggy as a Peter Pan type character who was reborn in another world that raises orphans or children who've passed early and they live in this alternate world with magic, at the same time he's an assassin that's teaming up with Dillon and Tenaya(who also have powers based on fairy tales) to steal ancient treasure from a tyrant king in order to rule the rule, Once Upon A Time walked so this can run.
Relationships
OTPs
-Ziggy/Dillon....obviously, can't have a happy twig without his grumpy muscular emo boyfriend.
-Ziggy/Scott, Ziggy/Flynn. Both these work really well in my opinion.
-Crackship idea if this crossover was ever a thing...Ziggy/Jarrod/Dillon/Casey, imagine all that chaos together with those four like(I'd pay to see a one shot of this tbh). Heck not even a crossover needed because JKP exists in the RPMverse and assuming the entire team is alive then this could fly, crazy twinks and the emo duo.
BROTPs
-Ziggy/Dr.K, honestly feel like he understands Dr.K and they are really close when it comes to hearing each other out, plus Ziggy might actually get her to enjoy some hobbies.
-Ziggy/Casey...seriously Disney fucked us over from ever getting this interaction, be happy with marvel I guess but imagine the send off you could've had.
-Ziggy/Tenaya, she needs earplugs every time he talks about Dillon...
Unpopular Opinion
-Kinda wish we got even more of a backstory for him or seen Ziggy encountering other green rangers. I feel like both him and Trip would get along quite well to be honest.
One thing I wish would/had happened in the show
-....We serious? That Jungle Fury/RPM crossover obviously because ALL THOSE INTERACTIONS AND SUCH WOULD'VE BE LEGENDARY.
-Even if he didn't end up with Dillon we should've had Ziggy kissing some guy.
-Imagine a scene of Ziggy hacking Venjix down with his axe after he found out the program's intention for Dillon, or if Venjix succeeded and Dillon died...it would've been brutal like Ziggy would be shown Venjix why the cartel kept him around🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡
Headcanons
-The RPM team technically has sentient zords because in reality they hold secret Engine Souls like their Go-Onger counterparts. This is actually a result of humanity evolving and without the vitality from Earth's nature so their animal spirits evolved into Engine Souls, thing is the team hasn't unlocked them but when they do the zords will be able to talk(a little fib of my JFAU movie arc idea with RPM cause we deserve that crossover).
-Ziggy's fingernails can turn dark green because of Venjix exposure, some humans after being exposed to the virus during their apocalypse developed small traits via their survival(Scott having sharper canines, Summer being able to detect metals for tools, Flynn when growing out his hair has white highlights and can absorb radiation, Gem and Gemma can see people's dreams and Dillon can purify dirty food and water).
-Ziggy sleeps with a huge dolphin as a pillow or just something to hold whenever he's sad. If he can't morph then he'll fill it with rocks and beat down venjix monsters with it.
-Sometimes when he would leave the dome(before the world began to return to normal) he'd walk miles until making it to the ocean since it wasn't fully destroyed and enjoyed watching the waves. Plus that spot is the only one in the world where the stars in the sky are still viewable.
-After RPM Dillon, Tenaya and Ziggy ventured out into the world to see what needed to be fixed, they built a railroad and it oddly began to glow with energy. This led to the team getting powers via trains and soul power with imagination, humanity's will to keep going(ToQger adaption), villains born from the deceased malice of humanity aim to take advantage of this world and others leading to the team having bigger stakes than last time.

5 and 6 for bl tropes
5. Second Chance Romance
My favourite trope! I don't know what that says about me, but I just love a second chance romance even though I wouldn't want a second chance with any of my previous romances. I especially love queer second chance romance because often the reasons that lead to the breakup involve societal pressure and problems with self-acceptance. I can't fix an old relationship that fell apart because of my own internalised phobia, and while I now know it wouldn't have worked out anyway because of personal differences, it's still nice to find forgiveness in a story.
Anygays!!! After writing all that, I'm actually going to reinterpret this trope for my own purposes haha. Because I really want to answer More Than Words. It's based on the prequel to my favourite manga, In the Apartment.

First off, everyone please go watch this show, it's so moody in the best of ways and the acting is incredible!!! (It's Amazon Original in Japan) Mieko and Makio are best friends and high school classmates, Eiji is Makio's older university boyfriend who they meet at their part-time job. They're inseparable as a trio, but they're also young and stupid, and over the years their dynamic changes irrevocably.
It seems many many on Mydramalist at least were disappointed in this show because they thought there would be a happy ending for Makio and Eiji, but the thing is, this is not a story about them as a bl couple but about Makio as a young queer man. There is a happy ending for him, with someone else! A person can have more than one big love in their life.
I know I'm viewing this show differently because I've read all three volumes of the manga whereas the show stops at volume two, so I have that knowledge of Makio and Sugimoto as the endgame otp, but even without that knowledge I think this is such a wonderful story about second chances, not with the same person but with someone new. Even if you fucked up in the past, you can still start over with all your regrets. I mean, not everyone gets to live happily ever after with their first love and best friends from school!
6. Coming of Age
Tumblr media
Itsay my beloved again! I love how it captures such a short period of time with such intensity. That's being young! Now if a month passes literally nothing changes for me or my relationships but in the past that was such a long time, a month.
Thank you for the ask!
