I have a small draft of an Gravity Falls/The Owl House au where Eda and Stan bond while trying to find a way to divorce without making the autorities aware of their location and decide to became a two people (later three for Raine reasons)/two realms rock band.

Featuring:

- Stan being way too unafected by the weirdness of the Demon Realm.

- Raine Whispers failing their task of remaining only friends with their ex after joining her band and instead getting back together (she opens up about her curse and now they just can't find a reason not to). [Look Raine fully got involved because a) Raeda is my OTP and more importantly b) Stan is just a really good wingman]

- Fiddleford complicated journey where he abandons his wife (and lowkey his son) for a scientist; does not tell the people involved (including the scientist); gets friendzone because of a triangle; gets a crush on a rockstar; does not question the fact the rockstar looks like mullet Ford sans glasses until he introduces his favorite band to his partner/bff/guy who chose a triangle over him; discovers Pines Twin drama

- Stan tries to sing a "hey we could be best brothers again it was an accident and I'm sorry" ballad but Ford is too distracted by the fact Stan bandmates are witches.

- Ford in the Demon Realm. Ford in the Demon Realm. Ford is living his autistc dreams in the Demon Realm. Ford has glyths now look out. Ford in the Demon Realm.

- Bill in the Demon Realm. He is pissing off a bigot and being a bad influence to an infant god. Do I hear a hurray?

- Please please please see my vision of Bill babysitting Enzo Gabriel... I mean The Collector.

- Baby King enters the picture at some point.

- Hooty meeting Bill. (Also at some point Hooty HAS to met Soos, I can not explain why this is important to me but it is).

- At some point in history the band devolves from a hit band to a footnote on the history of indie rock 80's bands (basically they just hit BIG in the Demon Realm and end up negleting the human realm) and everyone forgets it until the day ten year old Luz Noceda creates her first AMV using one of their songs and decides that's her favorite band ever.

- Dipper is also a fan. Mabel isn't exactaly a fan as much as she love like one specific song and also thinks 90's Raine is cute.

unpopular opinion: akutagawa distancing himself from dazai the same way atsushi does with the director is not the right way (or it's too ooc for me to see happening) for akutagawa to heal. i don't agree with simplifying akutagawa's feelings for dazai as plain dislike, and i believe akutagawa heals by finding more fulfilling reasons to live beyond appeasing dazai.

So happy to have found your blog. QaF is one of my favourite shows. I've watched it for the thousand time last month and started listening to a podcast so the obsession is strong this time (and there is no one to obsess with). I have a new appreciation for S1 and new and improved dislike for S4/5. The only things I liked from those season being: britin cancer arc, ted/brian friendship, ted×blake endgame, some drew/emmet and, I don't know if it's unpopular or not, brian's "I love you" [I think it was needed at some point to have it expressed in words, could have done without justin's sudden obsession with settling down at the old age of 22 lol] and the britin ending. As much as britin is my OTP and I think they are endgame, Justin needed to be on his own, to be himself away from Brian. They do work because of their age difference, but that also means that Brian has lived his life before Justin while Justin doesn't know who he is outside of his relationship with Brian. My HC is that after a year and half, they decide to start working toward being together in NY and a year and half later Brian moves. So a 3 year long distance relationship (they do their own thing, meeting when they can).

Last thing before this word vomit is over: the things that pisses me off the most is that they never develop a relationship between Justin and Emmet and Justin and Ted, it would have given it something more to have him be a part of the gang apart from being Brian's bf (even if it's implied to be the case). I do not get why they decided to make Micheal the friend of all people. Big anti-micheal sentiments from me. I do not think he's the worst in general (even if I personally can't stand him) but he IS the worst in relation to Justin AND Brian, even if I get his narrative function.

Season 1 is a classic, but I think s2 is becoming my favorite. Loving s3 is too easy!

Season 4 and 5 are heartbreaking because I think something changed in Randy's acting in s4. It's more flat and reserved. And Justin got some insane personality transplants (Pink Posse gave me 3 aneurysms and 2 PTSDs). And it used to be that all these characters had conversations and chemistry, now they have Clunky Dialogue and Interpersonal Dynamics Curated For Plot Development. Like... when Brian and Justin approached Emmett at Woody's in 401 and Brian was like "excuse me, have you seen my friend Emmett? He used to be so fabulous 🥰" -- that was a fucking jumpscare. Brian got possessed somebody bring the hoLY WATER!!!

The Pink Posse dialogue made me cry pink bloody tears. I kept reminding myself: it's okay for them to be so cringe. They're only 20! When I was Cody's age I, too, was an angry edgelord always trying to provoke strangers into a fight because I had no friends to talk to, only I did it on online anime forums instead of assaulting random people on the streets. But like... even 17 y/o Justin was cooler and smarter than thiiiiisssssss.

I love Ted's storylines in season 4. I love his recovery arc, his relationship with Blake the Counselor and Ted and Brian are my brOTP.

I'm currently rewatching season 4 so will hold my angsty thoughts about s5 for later. But i have a lot of resentment and anger over it.

As to the Britin ending - i think I hold all the possible opinions about it and struggling to pick one. On the textual level, it's not really a breakup. And yes, 100% Justin needs to live through his formative years and find out what he actually needs - without staying in Brian's shadow, without the meddling of that "chosen family" because that boy is way too easy to absorb other people's influence. And I love NYC for him, with all the holes in that makeshift plan they got for him. 

But when I watch season 5, it feels like Brian and Justin have been drifting apart and Justin doesn't even like Brian much anymore (and honestly I can see why because cowlip did him dirty). I choose to believe for now that it's all just a feeling I get because of Clunky Dialogue, reading too many Randy interviews, and because of tired acting, but it makes me so angsty that I can't feel the love even when I'm told it's there.

I just tried to write a list of 5 things that Michael did that made me um... not a fan. And honestly, I think just the JR custody battle was sufficient. Y'all can keep him, I don't want him. BTW, on my first watch I was a B/M shipper for like 10 episodes!

You're right - Justin and Michael do not make sense as friends. Michael is terrible when it comes to how he relates to Justin, with like 3 random exceptions. When Justin joined the gang, he instantly clocked Michael as a petulant manchild and idgi how that changed, because Michael hasn't. Michael is not smart enough - neither intellectually nor emotionally - to keep up with Justin and their only conversation topics are Rage and Michael's vintage 1992 edition of The Brian Kinney Operating Manual.

I just don't buy their friendship.

Brian wouldn't be friends with Michael if they met as adults, and neither would Justin if Michael and Brian weren't a package deal. But hey, maybe I'm projecting because I don't know how to be friends with someone if we can't even have a conversation about like, American imperialism, neoliberal commodification of self, or at the very least ADHD and our childhood trauma. Brian and Justin are equals intellectually; Justin and Michael are not, and neither are Brian and Michael. I hate that Michael became such an influence on Justin because it should be the other way around. 

I just rewatched the cancer arc and I am SO ANGRY at Michael for ratting Justin out and at the fact that for Plot Reasons Michael was given this show's singular Emotional Intelligence Stick for 50 seconds and HE had to school JUSTIN of all people, to tell him that Brian was afraid of being seen as less than physically perfect. Biiitch, Justin RAISED that boy for 3 years after you fumbled your custody, don't tell him how to do his job! 

And to add insult to injury: when Michael spilled the beans to Brian, he made it all about himself and then it was Brian having to comfort Michael and kick Justin out. UGHHH I'm gonna stop now before I develop a working hermeneutic theory that Michael is the actual villain of QAF lmao

Now that Pull Me in Deeper is over, I wanted to take some time to thank a lot of people. Writing and posting this fic has been an amazing experience for me. It has changed me as a writer in so many ways, and I couldn't have done any of it without the support of so many people along the way.

(warning: overly emotional sappy rambling. I'm sorry if I forgot someone!!! to be honest, so many people have been supportive of me and popped in and out of this experience and you all have left an impression)

First, I wanted to tell you guys a little bit about my experience writing this fic.

I had never written Canon x OC before I created Alexius in Summer Heat. I've primarily been an OTP fic writer, focusing on one couple per fandom that I would fixate on. When I started Summer Heat, I really wanted to explore as a side story of Eris in a relationship, and for me, the only person who kept popping up was someone like Alexius. Summer Heat was a safe zone to play around because I got to develop him and his relationship with Eris while still focusing on Elucien. When Summer Heat was over, I got the idea to write Pull Me in Deeper because I wanted to explore whether Eris x Alexius would be able to carry their own story on their own, and I wanted to challenge myself by writing a fic that mostly contained original characters.

There was a lot about this experience that was new and challenging. Writing only Canon x Canon ships and those that were really popular in fandoms did not prepare me for some of the trials and tribulations that come with writing Canon x OC fics. You often feel like you are on your own island, separate but adjacent to the fandom. You hope that people on their boats passing by will stop and visit you. Maybe stay a while. Sometimes, I will admit, I felt lonely, especially in the early days of writing this story. I went from a very built in community of shippers who loved the ship for the ship and we could squee together about how adorable our OTP was - to basically trying to convince people that Alexius was a worthy partner for Eris and worth taking a chance on reading about him. So I gained a whole new respect for the Canon x OC parts of the fandom, and I'm happy I can count myself among you now.

To say it frankly, I've grown so attached to Alexius and his relationship with Eris over these last several months. He is very real for me now. You really can't spend this much time living inside of a character's head and being committed to their HEA and not adore them. Not only is he a representation of so many people in this world that I love, but he also has given me so much confidence in my ability to create original characters. In the past, when I have sat down and tried to writing original fiction instead of fanfiction, what always held me back was creating characters that felt like real people. After Alexius, I feel sure now I know how to do that, and for that, Alexius will always be my baby. Please know, as long as I'm writing ACOTAR fanfics, Alexius will be in them and there will be more in store in the future for Eris x Alexius centered fics (more than there already are lol). Eris x Alexius is my Eris OTP and now that I have the Eris bug, I won't be stopping.

Okay now to shoutout some specific people:

@crazy-ache - You have always been there for me in every stage of my ACOTAR fanfic writing process. Thank you for telling me early on, when I felt guilty for this fic expanding so much and taking so much of my focus, that it was okay for me to branch off in this direction and leave Elucien on the shelf for a while. I really needed to hear that then. And thank you for always being up for reading my first drafts, brainstorming through scenarios and plot, and just being my cheerleader. I love you, and I really cannot ask for a better writing partner and friend.

@lucienarcheron - The very first time I ever had the instinct to write Eris with an OC, I ran to you for advice. You trekked this path long before many, many people, and you have been instrumental in me taking a chance. Especially seeing all the hard work and focus you've put into Spirit Meets the Bones really inspired me to want to write an Eris x Alexius solo fic. So thank you so much for being an Eris x OC mentor of mine.

@thrumbolt, @works-of-heart, @bonecarversbestie, @little-fierling - Thank you so much for creating fanart either of Eris x Alexius or inspo from this fic. You all have also been such amazing commenters on the fic itself, leaving insightful, smart, and hilarious feedback. It's so rewarding to have readers who are driven to create based on something you made. And it really helped me in times when I've been down or unsure of myself, that there were people out there who thought enough about my fic that it inspired creativity in them.

@olenvasynyt - your long comments and even longer voice notes that you've left me in DMs have been such a treasure. I especially love the head canons and little snippets you have shared with me about your own Male OC that you have created for Eris. It's such a small community that we are in, and I really can't wait to meet him too. I love that we both have such a strong love for the Autumn Court and creating OCs.

There was quite a few people who started reading PMID because they were familiar with my Elucien fics and got to know Erixius in Summer Heat. I really appreciate all of you who migrated over and decided to go on this adventure with me!

I also had a group of people who really surprised me joining on and reading this fic, and that is the Azris shippers. @the-darkestminds, @jules-writes-stories, @mistandmemories, @constantsins I have ] always enjoyed your expressive, thoughtful, and analytical comments and words of encouragement you have given me. RenTori is my secondary OTP but they have sadly always been overshadowed by the more popular Allmate ships. WELL, I am here to show y'all the reasons I ship rarepair RenTori! Even if no one wants to read this, at least I can have this for reference for myself...

Base Game:

Huracan and Ren don't really interact in the base game, BUT Huracan does show concern for Ren by addressing him along with Aoba* upon first arriving at Glitter. This doesn't sound super notable, but most characters in the game don't acknowledge Ren along with Aoba like this....

*Note: Fan translation words this as "we should rest today", but Huracan uses "omaetachi" which is used like "you guys" in this case. Hence why JAST opted to use "you two."

At the end of Mink's route, he also advocates for what he knows Ren would want for Aoba (to be used to save him) when Ren can't say it for himself. It really seems that Huracan is coming from a place of understanding Ren's devotion as an Allmate rather than just trying to get Aoba to do what Mink wanted, at least to me.

The drama CD is the real reason why I started shipping them!!!

First of all, it's super cute how they basically tag-team tease Aoba together.

They always seem to be on the same page, especially when it comes to Aoba's well-being...

...and when one of them wants back up, he calls for the other.

WAHHHH They were speaking to each other privately!!! They spend their time chatting when Mink and Aoba aren't around…

And, the best part of it all: It's basically implied here that Aoba himself ships them! Honestly, it's this teasing from Aoba that had me 👀 at them in the first place. Well, even if I try to read this part without shipper goggles, I just can't see it any other way.

On the same page

Unlike Ren and Clara who seem very incompatible, and Beni and Huracan, who are always bickering, Ren and Huracan seem to share the same opinions and get along seamlessly! It isn't just because they are both Allmates. They really are compatible.

Deeply devoted to their respective owners and trust them with their lives

Huracan allowed Mink to transfer him into the motorcycle and Ren allowed Aoba to use the USB drive on him. Ren would follow Aoba to the ends of the earth, and Huracan literally did so to find his way back to Mink.

Attached to and protective of Aoba

They both try to ease his frequent worrying whenever they can with reason. They're very patient with Aoba and always happy to give advice AND ALSO TEASE HIM A LITTLE (which is the cutest).

Always together

Obviously they live together, and sleep together, and basically do everything together! Since Mink doesn't depend on Huracan as much as Aoba does Ren, he doesn't mind leaving Huracan along with Ren to watch over Aoba. Thus, Ren and Huracan get to spend extra time together. Aoba also often remarks that there aren't many Allmates in Mink's homeland, so it makes even more sense why they are drawn to one another in a place like that.

Conclusion:

Even though it's sad for Ren that he can't end up with Aoba, I think Huracan is a very good partner for him and vice versa.

Ren shows Huracan that he isn't merely a tool to be used and definitely rubs off on him by the time we reach the end of the drama CD. Huracan goes from saying he's a tool and doesn't care about having a name to being very proud of the name he has. I think this definitely comes from being inspired by Ren, his devotion, and seeing the way Aoba treats him in turn (Mink, as well, as his opinion on Allmates definitely changes from start to finish of canon).

Obviously, they share a home together, and will always be together due to their owners being partners. They also show no interest in other Allmates besides one another. They never bicker or disagree and speak respectfully to one another.

Though it might seem a little strange that they are different types of animals, I don't think it really matters much to them as Huracan was literally a motorcycle for awhile lskdjlsf. Plus, they both see one another as an "Allmate" rather than their respective animal, I think.

Anyway, I hope this proved interesting to read for at least one (1) person out there. I really love these two and will always ship them, forever!

If George had a big brain like me, he would let Arya marry 3 times throughout her life like Nymeria Ny Sar. First she marries Jon and will have the classic Stark-looking children that George loves so much, thus fulfilling his original OTP dream, then she marries Gendry (maybe she will have more children too!) and finally she goes to Dorne and marries Ned Dayne, after her children are older and ready to take over. She would live a long life full of love and adventures. Now, I need to kidnap their editors to make that happen

this is the first time i'm hearing about nymeria and her three husbands, and this is the first time i've seen someone bring them up as a headcanon for arya to follow, i'm honestly impressed nonnie!!

i like the idea; i really do, but i've the littlest problem with it, personally speaking. after jon comes back from being dead, i just can't see him being able to have children. like if i remember correctly, in game of thrones the only thing that jon got to show that he came back from the dead was a few more scars, and that's it; there weren't any consequences at all (the dude died, ffs; he stopped being alive and human, and surely that changes your physiological processes and responses, no shit!) that's why it is very hard for me to believe that it is going to be the same in the books, so in my opinion, jon should be arya's last husband. the one she doesn't have children with, but the one that she stays with until her time comes, and in that way we have the "soulmates" aspect of jonrya tackled.

continuing with my opinion about your headcanon, i think that arya first husband should be edric dayne, i've to admit that in my own mind (because i can't write fics at all) i've played with the idea that when arya reunites with the brotherhood without banners, she asks for him, with the proposition in mind of a betrothal between them.

it's just that i like gendry's irrational jealousy, and it's irrational in my opinion, because, yeah, from a societal standpoint, edric dayne is obviously the one that is better suited for arya in a romantic context, but the only thing we saw in the books during that time was sweet and shy little ned trying to make a new friend, nothing less and nothing more, and gendry is behaving like the biggest asshole all around to him, and edric dayne did nothing to deserve it.

so i played with that idea in my head because i wanted to recreate gendry's irrational jealousy, because it was really plotless now that i think about it. the obvious answer was that arya was looking for alliances and armed men that house dayne could provide. what for exactly? i don't remember, and i failed to consider that we have fake!arya married to ramsay bolton, and we have an elmar frey on the loose (?) crying for his princess and their broken betrothal... so maybe arya realized that she couldn't escape marriage since she wasn't even in westeros for the damned thing to happen to her, so arya decided to take things into her own hands and choose herself who is going to be her husband.

so with all of that said, yeah, i think that ned dayne should be the first husband of arya stark, and i don't think that his genes would overrule the stark look from taking place in their children. (i know that house dayne has something with their eyes, but let's ignore it for my sake, please)

anyway ned dayne dies (sorry to my nedryas!) leaving arya behind with some children, and now arya as a newly widowed lady that already has offspring, i can see that giving her the opportunity of getting married to a landless knight (gendry!) without a lot of fuss... and maybe arya and gendry have children; maybe they don't. i've a preference for gendrya taking orphans from the wars under their wing and giving them parental guidance (aka gendrya invents adoption in westeros) i forgot to say that i see this happening after the nedrya children are already grown, because when you have a lot of children, consecutively, i tend to believe that they fall in a scale of neglect; you absolutely can't care for and support all children equally if you have a lot of them, like what we have with rickon, the poor boy is even neglected by the author.

okay, so gendry has to die too; again, i see this happening after their children are grown up, so arya has a "coming back home" moment, and that home is jon's arms.

Imagine that he learns Harry has to die in order to bring down Voldemort... he can't accept that reality and so he makes a bargain with Voldemort... in exchange for Harry's life, he will dedicate his own to protect Voldemort's human horcrux. He will stay at Harry's side until his last breath and ensure that he lives no matter the cost.

Harry doesn't even feel betrayed, cannot feel any such thing in the face of the damning evidence of Sirius's love for him. A love so overpowering that he cast aside everything he ever held dear, his own values and principles, Lily and James' cherished memories, his vanity and pride, because none of that could hold a candle to his love for Harry, burning hotter than a star. Sirius will always choose him, save him, even if it means letting the world fall.

And there would be nothing to forgive, on Harry's part, the same way Eurydice could not fault Orpheus for wanting a glimpse of her on their way back to the living.

And it really doesn’t seem fair that Draco Malfoy is back in Harry’s life, all of a sudden, and even though he’s wandless, and living with Muggles, and making his mother cry with his lifestyle choices, he’s happy. So what's he doing right, that Harry isn’t?

Because things don’t really change, do they? And if Harry can’t be happy, he’ll settle for a good night’s sleep, some posh antiques, and the opportunity to find out what Malfoy has been up to for all these years.

And that’s what starts it all.

Excerpt:

"This is exactly what I'm talking about, Potter. You think I'm happy without magic. I'm happy despite not having magic, you twat. Sometimes it itches under my skin until I think I'm going to go mad. And you show up like this—" he gestures wildly at Harry's Wizengamot robes "—and you Apparated here, didn't you? I could smell it off you when I opened the door, Potter." He sways closer to Harry, and he looks angry again all of a sudden. "You reek of magic, Potter, and you don't even know it. And it's so hard sometimes, being around that. It's just as well you didn't take me up on the offer of a fuck, I suppose. I’d probably have been able to feel your magic when you were inside me. Pretty hard to go back from that."

Harry, having never been in love properly, wonders if this is what it’s always like—feeling simultaneously pissed off and turned on and, through it all, endlessly fond—but suspects it might be just down to it being him, and Draco, and how they are together.

There are loads of fics I could have picked for this prompt. I considered Heal Thyself by astolat, and of That Old Black Magic, by bixgirl, for example, which are both all-time favourites of mine. I've been trying to rec less popular fics, because to me that's part of the fun and the challenge of recfest, and because I think we're so blessed to be in a fandom with such a wealth of talent going back twenty-odd years. But these fics were the very first two to pop into my mind when I heard the prompt, and I kept on coming back to them both, and it feels only right to rec them - and to rec them together - because I do see them both as the very best of Drarry. Both authors' words feel so truly full of love for the characters, and the world, and the ship, and both authors write Draco and Harry so convincingly and unequivocally as two parts of a whole. WWPWCS, of course, so witty and clever, has the amazing scene above so early on, where Harry's just appalled to learn that anyone might have thought he was at any stage obsessed with Draco Malfoy - and then he proceeds to demonstrate how completely and utterly obsessed he is with Draco Malfoy throughout the entirety of the fic. And then there's ML, such a brilliant, complex, emotional piece, with its Harry who begins to find unexpected joy in the little things as he spends more and more time around this fascinating, self-sufficient Draco. Of course, both fics then have their own excellent OH FUCK moment, the moment the dam bursts and Harry realises what we've known for ages - that he's so completely in love with Draco that there's no way back, and what the hell's he going to do about it now?

Neither fic's a quick read, but both are spectacularly written, with such delicious denouements that they are SO COMPLETELY WORTH IT, and if you're getting to read either of them for the first time - god, I envy you!

Only Blood Communion and Interview With the Vampire to go now. I'll make more elaborated posts about my thoughts once I'm done with everything, but here are some of my opinions:

TVA is absolutely my favorite (I've said it before and will say it again: the most purifying cry I had in my life, it destroyed and restored me in the best possible way), TVL, TQOTD and Prince Lestat are also on my top 4, though I don't know where to place the latter on my personal ranking. The others are sort of tied and the order changes according to specific aspects. Like, Blood and Gold covers a lot of eras and places of the world, has multiple interesting characters, so it's fun in the sense there's a lot of stuff to see, even if I'm not a Marius's fan and he isn't the best narrator imo. On the other hand, something like Merrick is more packed, just her, Louis and David (and some Lestat), but I just love her as a character and the whole story of her family. I can't really choose.

Memnoch would be the last because it was the one I struggled with (tho I loved Armand on it), I thought the concept was great and I could've loved it with a more active, intense and eventful execution. Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis is second-to-last because most of the plot was dumb to me, the part that made sense was solved in an unconvincing way, I had to do a lot of suspending disbelief even for a supernatural/sci-fi story... But it was nice to have so many characters I love reunited, even if some didn't have lines, it's nice to know they're around and I enjoy the vampires having sort of a healthy little community.

Favorite character is definitely Armand, then Lestat, then Pandora, Maharet, Mekare, Flavius, Merrick, Bianca, Gabrielle, Mona, Benji, Avicus and Petronia (they didn't appear much and did awful brutal stuff, yes, but having an intersex/gender-fluid character was great and they had so much baggage I could empathize with them). Most after Armand and Lestat are tied. I don't know if I'd call Benedict a fave, but I'm somewhat attached to him (and I KNOW about those spoilers). I LOVE Vittorio and Ursula too and I hope they can appear in some shape or form on the show. I don't looooove Antoine, but he's alright to me. He just seems to be a poor/broke dude who wants to live, have friends and dedicate his existence to his hyperfixations and I can relate because same lol. I get him.

Favorite pairings (either as an OTP or brotp): Lesmand (👑👑👑), Pandora and Flavius (👑👑), Maharet and Mekare (👑, they just don't get more crowns because they don't appear as much as I wanted 😔), Armand and Benji and Sybelle (as duos and a trio), Armand and Riccardo, Armand and Bianca (pretty much Armand and everyone that isn't Marius lol), Lestat and Mona (their childish siblings-coded beef entertains me), Maharet and Jesse and Vittorio and Ursula (👑👑). I wish I had seen more of some characters/dynamics, tho.

MAYBE I could tolerate Marius and even love Magnus (he seems to have a sad and interesting story) if all I'd seen of them had been the content of the last trilogy, but given the previous books, I'm not sure I can enjoy Anne's decisions. I have a lot of mixed feelings about Magnus apologizing and Marius's behavior not even being seen as something to apologize for in the first place, but that's for another post.

Some of the books I would've been able to read and love with or without the show, some I only read to get information, but I'm mostly glad I'm equipped with so much of the lore now. That's not to say there aren't problematic things even for the genre that I need to compartmentalize and ignore (to some extent and not completely) for my enjoyment, because there is a lot of that, but it hasn't been a waste of time. And I'm glad I know what can happen in the future, make silly little fancasts and have events to look forward to seeing on the series. Obviously, opinions can change with the next books, when I re-read the novels or even with conversations and discussions... And that makes me excited as well.

abt the give me a character game: PETE pretty please 🤓

How I feel about this character:

Genuinely, he is incredible. I talk more often about my love for Vegas, but Pete does something to me. He is such an incredible example of self-doubt and insecurity. Like it reaches Buddha levels of self-perceptions. I love him, I want to put his brain in a jar, I want to give him to Vegas as a sacrifice, I want to see what a lobotomy would do to him, I want to kiss his pretty cheeks and his soft tummy. FUCK, I love him.

All the People I ship romantically this character with:

I ship Pete with Vegas and Vegas alone. I don't believe in soulmates but these two certainly made me question that. From the moment that Pete watched Vegas pull teeth from a man's mouth, I knew he was a level of crazy only Vegas could reach. And there is NO SHIP that Pete could be in that would satisfy me as much as Vegas crawling on his knees, praying at Pete's feet. They are incredible.

My Non-Romantic OTP for this character:

Macau. I know that most people would probably say Tankhun or Porsche, but I have to be honest (this is a hot take) I am not a big fan of Porsche and Pete's friendship. I write it, but I don't love it, and I admittedly think that Porsche has some insane levels of selfishness that if I were Pete, I'd be pissed about. (I.e. Porsche knowing Vegas tortured Pete, AND THEN TRADING ACCESS TO HIM FOR INFORMATION???) Like the audience knows they're in love but my god, if my best friend did that they would not be my best friend anymore.

That in mind, I think that Pete's relationship with Macau is something that could be so beautiful in canon. I once saw a Tumblr post where someone said Macau was the only one who loved Vegas before Pete came along, and that getting to share that with someone would be incredible for him. And I agree but beyond that, I think it's clear that Pete is a nurturer and while Vegas loves Macau, while he protects him, Pete has a gentle touch that I think Macau would crave in a parental figure. In addition, I think Pete would see Macau as a chance to give someone a childhood he didn't have. I think living somewhat vicariously through raising Macau would heal something in him. Anyways, their relationship is perfect to me.

My Unpopular Opinion about this Character:

It goes into what I said above, but I genuinely don't believe his relationship to Porsche is as deep as it's often described. I don't think that in another world, Pete would've loved Porsche. I believe he's Porsche's best friend, but I don't think Porsche is his (still friends, just not BEST friends). I think Pete sees him as another person in his care, and he is used to being the caregiver in this world. I think they became closer later on, yes, but during the series, I think Pete is the preschool teacher to Porsche's toddler persona. I think he went into the Minor family house because he felt responsible first and foremost, soooooooo yeah. That's a hot take that might piss some people off.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character:

I wish that he and Vegas had more time together in the safe house. I wish he got to go outside (even on a leash) and bask in the sun while Vegas stared at him longingly.

I wish he broke down in front of his friends. People forgot about him after he was kidnapped, Porsche turned him over to Vegas for some info, and no one really fought throwing him into a suicide mission. I recognize he's a guard and technically expendable, but for people who say they care about him, they don't treat him as such. I wish he broke down, and I wish he screamed, and I wish he him just how invaluable he feels because as much as he lost it with Vegas, Vegas is the only one who has crumbled at the thought of being without him and the others should feel ashamed.

Guilty Pleasures: The feeling of skin ripped from flesh, laying out an identifying bodies left in a mangle of viscera, the taste of blood while biting in wild shape, that she regularly pictures friends without skin, what their flesh might taste like. ANYWAY.

Hobbies: Picked up whittling from Halsin, around the same time he started teaching her druid craft as a way to be a little more productive with the knife she refused to put down. Mainly actually likes doing detailing in buildings. Has gotten very good at climbing about Shadowheart's parent's home since she can't remember where a ladder is, can remember how to get up to reach doorframes, windows and so on without one.
