You had just gotten paid another hefty sum for brining a new fighter to the Grandmaster, not as good as the supposed Lord of Thunder Scrapper 142 caught but still nonetheless, he was pleased and you were more than satisfied with your payment.  You were at a bar, feeling pretty good about yourself. You deserved it and you wanted to treat yourself to a drink. You sat on one of the barstools, nursing a drink and did your best to ignore the gladiators behind the barrier nearby. You weren’t looking forward to this upcoming fight, but then again, you didn’t particularly care about them in the first place anyways.  Scrapper 142 joined you, opting for a bottle instead of a glass.
You understood her. It was an unspoken feeling you knew she also understood. You were similar people, and on this planet to escape your past. She had been here much longer than yourself, and you observe that nothing can penetrate her hard shell. She was invincible, and you envied her ability to keep her emotions at bay. Well, except for the drinking, but you still admired her.  At some point she went over to the barrier and actually spoke to one of the gladiators. It was odd, but you didn’t question it. When she got up, you bid your goodbyes and headed to get ready for the fight. You knew you wouldn’t see her at the arena, but you know she wouldn’t take it personally that you left without a goodbye.
Walking down the hallway towards the entrance, an arm grabbed your bicep and pulled you down an empty hallway. Without hesitation, you pulled your blaster with your free hand and pushed it to the temple of whoever grabbed you. When it made a clinking noise, you sighed, knowing exactly who it was.  “Mando,” you say curtly, yanking your arm free and turning to face him.
“I need you to tell me about the God of Mischief,” he states plainly.
“I thought you were a good bounty hunter,” you roll your eyes.
“I didn’t get any information, I’m working with nothing,” he explains. You stare up at the visor, like somehow, you’d be able to study his eyes. You can feel them staring back at you though.
“How is this my problem?” You scoff and he sighs, clearly getting frustrated.
“You’re the only person I know on this planet that can help me,” he tries to insist, “I’ll split the reward, please.”
“I’ll tell you what I know,” you say defeated. You felt bad for the man, and you knew it must’ve been hard for him to come to you. “But I’m not helping you hunt him down. I don’t want to be close to this.”
“Deal,” he says, and offers out his gloved hand for you to shake.
“We can’t talk here,” you state, “the fight is going to start soon and I need to be in attendance for a work thing.”
“A work thing?” he taunts. You chuckle.
“Unless you want to join me,” you offer, “If you can get a babysitter.”
“Fine,” he says, following your lead. You walk in silence to the stands, and you find your regular seat, and he takes the one next to you. You chuckle at how out of place he looks, too bulky from the armor to fit comfortably.
“Do you always need to wear all this?” you ask him, gesturing to the armor.
“Yes, it’s part of my code,” he replies, looking down at the arena. “Now, the bounty.”
“He’s one of the two princes from my home planet,” you explain. “He’s actually a god, with powers.”
“Powers?”
“Yeah, astral projection, shape-shifting, hypnosis, telekinesis, teleportation…”
“Are you serious?”
“Yeah,” you say with a chuckle at the shock in his voice.
“How the hell are you supposed to catch someone like that?” he sighs, leaning back in his seat more.
“Outsmart him. Take advantage of the fact he probably has no idea you’re here or that anyone would be after him.”
“Would anyone be after him?”
“Oh gods, he’s made enemies all over the galaxy,” you retort, “I have no idea how to determine who sent you. He has a laundry list of enemies.”
“Of course,” he grumbles.  “Just in recent years, he sabotaged his own brother’s coronation by allowing the Frost Giants to attack Asgard- our planet. Then, skipping a lot of other chaos, he led an alien attack on Earth. He was supposed to face lifetime imprisonment in the Asgardian dungeons, but he was freed to help fight when Dark Elves attacked Asgard, and he faked his death. This brings us up to speed to when I left three years ago. With everyone thinking he was dead, he returned to Asgard and removed his father, Odin, from the throne and had been ruling Asgard disguised as Odin. He was doing so for several years, before Thor- that’s his brother; Thor came back and exposed him. So that’s when I left, so if he’s done something else since, I don’t know.”
“That was the summary?”
“That was the very abridged version,” you chuckle, “but that’s sort of the relevant bit.”
“Why did you leave?” he asks curiously, “it seems like him being exposed by Thor was a good thing but you left.”
“Because I mourned him for years,” you say spitefully. “Told me himself while disguised as Odin that Loki was dead. Lied right to me, deceived me and the entire kingdom. We built fucking statues in his honor like idiots…”
“You loved him,” he states simply, preventing you from spiraling. You appreciated his ability to simplify the situation. It was grounding.
“Yes,” you say simply.
“And you’ve been here for three years and he only just shows up now?”
“Yeah.”
“Asshole,” he mutters, making you laugh.
“Indeed,” you agree.
“You deserve better,” he affirms.
“Then a wanted war criminal? I would hope so,” you jest.
“No, I mean, yes, but you seem- just, never mind.”
“Thanks.”
“Do you still have feelings for him?” he asks, after a short, uncomfortable silence.
“I don’t think I could even if I wanted to,” you answer honestly.
“I understand,” he says, but he sounds like he’s far away, lost in his own thoughts.  You both fall into a more comfortable silence, when the giant hologram of the Grandmaster emerges introducing the event and the fighters. You aren’t really paying attention; you have heard it all before. The Champion will come out, the crowd will go crazy, and he’ll just defeat whatever poor soul they put up against him. However, you are snapped out of your thoughts when you hear a familiar voice yell.
“Thor?” you say in disbelief, standing up from your seat to get a closer look. His hair was shorter but without a doubt it was him. “Shit, what happened to him?”
“Thor, like Loki’s brother?” Mando asks, staring down at the fight, both of you at the end of your seats. You look over across the stadium, and you see a familiar figure in the Grandmaster’s private box.
“That weasel,” you say, narrowing your eyes, to try to get a better look. It’s him. Without a doubt, it’s Loki sitting on the large couch next to the Grandmaster. “He’s right there,” you point, and Mando follows your gaze.
“He’s watching while they send his brother to slaughter,” Mando observes and you nod.
“I thought I couldn’t be more disgusted,” you scoff. You wanted to be surprised but how could you be? This was Loki. Gods, you had been so blind for so long.
“What can we do?” Mando asks, already trying to look around for the exit. There are way too many people.
“Thor has powers like Loki- not the same ones, but he’s also a god,” you say, partly to explain but also in an attempt to calm your own nerves. “He can win this.” You hear Thor proclaim that he knows the Champion and that they are friends from work, and you cover your face with your hands from the secondhand embarrassment. You silently plead for Thor to stop trying to talk and just fight his way out. Mando hesitantly wraps an arm around you. He’s stiff and awkward but you appreciate it regardless. It was comforting. “I can’t watch,” you say, hiding your face in his shoulder.
Mando had never experienced something like this, ever. He hadn’t touched someone for this long in a very, very long time. He knew the circumstances were terrible and his heart was breaking for you. But selfishly, he basked in the feeling of intimacy, even if it was strictly platonic. Hell, he wasn’t even sure if it was platonic, because that implies a friendship. His mind was racing and he tried to ignore the warm feeling spreading throughout his body at the contact. He doesn’t dare move; he was enjoying the feeling too much.  Mando was rendered speechless as he watched the man literally conjure lightning from nothing. The fight was unlike anything he had ever seen. Of course, he’d been all over the galaxy and has seen wonders, including the little baby back in his room, but never has he seen so much power yielded all at once. He gulped, thinking about what he would be up against trying to bring in Loki. Without a doubt, he’d need to use the carbonite chamber on the Crest- but would that even hold a being of this much power? He didn’t have much else of a choice.
The crowd erupts, booing as the Grandmaster rigs the fight in the Champion’s favor, and Mando rolls his eyes under his helmet. Of course, he thinks. However, he can tell the man is still alive and is relieved to tell you, especially since you didn’t dare look at the spectacle- too afraid to watch the fate of your friend unfold.  “He made it,” Mando said gently, nudging you and you finally turned your head back to the arena. They brought out a stretcher and the floating device brought his body off of the ground. He was breathing. “We can find out where they took him soon,” he says reassuringly. He felt compelled to help you find Thor, not just because of his own needs, but he genuinely wanted to return the favor for the intel you provided- at no charge at that.  The crowds clear out in a somewhat orderly fashion, but then take to the streets to celebrate the Grandmaster’s Champion.
You are furious that Loki would sit by and watch as Thor was sent out on that field. You had no doubt in your mind that he knew that was happening but didn’t stop it. You knew him too well to think otherwise. Part of you a very long time ago had a hope the two could actually work as a team, and you had seen Thor try- you realize that now. However, at the time, you always defended Loki. You remain seated, even after the whole section of seats has long since been cleared. You felt numb and disgusted.
“Any way I can help you, I’ll do it,” you say finally, your eyes fixated on the crater that was formed by the fight. You were rigid, very much pissed. You had wasted a large portion of your first year here hoping he’d come after you, and as much as you’d say you wouldn’t have taken him back, you know that you three years ago would have fallen back into his arms in a heartbeat if he had tried to come find you. Skurge knew where you had been sent. Loki could have easily gotten that information and followed you if he had wanted to. He obviously didn’t. And you have already wasted more energy than you should’ve in your lifetime by his side, defending him, mourning him, loving him. You were done. If there was any doubt of that in your mind before, the display before you tonight solidified your feelings.
You wanted to see him get what he deserved.
“I need you to get close to him again,” Mando says hesitantly, and you can hear the reluctance. He knows he’s asking way too much from you, but he’s desperate. It’s the only way he can think of to out smart him. He cringes, not wanting to subject you to this character again, but he feels as though he doesn’t have a choice.  You were right that Mando needed to take advantage of Loki not knowing he was here. He could operate behind the scenes while you distracted him. It was a flimsy plan at best and he was sure you would say no. He wouldn’t blame you. He saw the hurt and pain on your face, just out for the world to see. You were usually much better at hiding it, he had observed, but the events of today undeniably bothered you greatly. He felt relieved to have his helmet on. He couldn’t imagine the discipline of controlling your expressions. It was something he never needed to master, and he admired your ability to do it.
“I’ll do it,” you sniff looking back at him. Your eyes were glossed over with tears that you were not letting fall and you still held yourself with your head high. You were trying your best to not let your emotions spill over, and he marveled at your strength.
“You sure.”
“Positive. I can do it. Besides, I don’t know how you’d do it without me.”
“You’re right,” he chuckles.
“I always am,” you joke. You wipe your eyes and stand up, both of you heading out of the stadium. “It’s probably better if we try to find Thor tomorrow,” you conclude noticing how dark it is now. Mando nods in agreement.
“Are they immortal?” he asks hesitantly, wanting to talk to you longer.
“No but we live a long time,” you say with a sigh, “Very slow aging process as well.”
“How old are they?” he asks, “I mean- do you not age either?”
“Loki and I are similar in age, Thor is older,” you explain. “I mean, I don’t know an exact age in years, but at least a thousand? Thor probably about five hundred years older or so if I had to guess.”
“Are- are you serious?” he asks in disbelief.
“I’m an old maid,” you chuckle.
“You look younger than me,” he says, still in shock.
“Asgardians have a five-thousand-year lifespan roughly,” you giggle, finding it amusing you’ve made the bounty hunter speechless. “I know I look pretty good for my age,” you joke.
“Yeah,” he says in agreement, and he doesn’t miss the way it makes you smile. There’s a tension between the two of you that becomes glaringly more obvious, and you both chose to try your best to ignore it.
“So, what are you?” you ask. “You and your son- what species?”
“I’m human,” he says quickly, embarrassed at what you thought he must look like under the helmet. “He’s adopted,” he explains, and you laugh at how flustered he sounds through the modulator.
“Are you from Earth?”
“No, I was born on Aq Vetina,” he explains and you nod.
“I’ve never heard of Earth.” “I thought Earth was the only place humans dwelled,” you say intrigued, “Interesting.”
“Are you royalty?” he asks, trying to change the subject from his backstory.
“Almost was,” you admit, “but no. I was in the Einherjar army, warriors who protected the throne.”
“Almost?” he asks, not wanting to pry but his curiosity of wanting to get to know more about you getting the better of him.
“Loki and I at one point were engaged,” you say, facing the ground.
“I’m sorry,” he says quickly, “I shouldn’t be asking.”
“No, it’s okay,” you say reassuringly, “It’s nice to talk about it after all these years. I’m enjoying having someone who’s willing to listen.” He wondered if that would be something he would want as well.  “Then he faked his death, and well,” you joke, “I would say that is the most unique way I’ve heard of to break off an engagement.”
“I don’t think that was because of you…”
“Oh, I know,” you reassure him, “But it clearly showed me how little he actually cared for me.”
“He’s a fool,” he said quickly.
“I’m afraid I’m the one who deserves that title,” you jest, trying to make the atmosphere less depressing.
“I don’t think so,” he counters, but doesn’t expand on his statement. You nod as a silent thank you. “I need to get back to the kid,” he says, “Should I meet you tomorrow?”
“Where are you staying?” You say, “I’ll come to you. I’m too close to the Grandmaster, and then by extension Loki- me going to you keeps you off the radar longer.”
He gives you the name of where he’s staying and his room, actually trusting you with it. You immediately know where he is staying and you assure him you won’t have any trouble finding him. You insist you want to go find Thor alone and he respects your request. You promise to go to him after. You part ways, and you return to your apartment and him to his room.
With the secured behind him, he picks up the child and checks on him. He felt guilty for having left him so long, but the kid had only just woken up when Mando arrived back at the room. The child was babbling and happy, and Mando fed him. His mind is still racing with thoughts of you, and how much you’ve been though.
It almost angers him, the way that you’ve been treated and discarded. Like you were just a pawn in a chess game. The pain and sadness behind your eyes said more to him than your words had, even though he hung on to every syllable. He feels ridiculous, but part of him thinks about how he can be the one to change it. He can be the one to give you justice, by catching the man as he was sent here to do. And maybe somewhere also in the back of his mind he thinks about being the one who can truly make you happy.
The rapport between the two of you was so seamless. He never had such an easy time talking to someone before. It’s like you just showed up out of nowhere and fell into his life and he wants you to stay in it. He thinks about if you both are successful, he somehow by some miracle is able to catch this guy, would he just part ways with you and never see you again? He hates the idea already. He knows how irrational he is being, but he allows himself to indulge in the idea of sharing things with you the same way you opened up about your past to him. He thinks about your words about how good it felt to have someone to listen, and he thinks about the urge he has to tell you everything. He thinks about finishing this job and getting off this wasteland planet and taking you away with him. He knows it would never happen. You are the closest thing he could ever encounter to a deity, and there’s no reason for you to want him.
With the child tired out yet again, Mando closes his pod when the baby is asleep and he is now free to take off his helmet. There’s a mirror on the wall and he looks at his reflection. He sees the signs of aging on his face, something you won’t experience until long after his lifetime. You’re the most beautiful being he’s ever encountered and here he is thinking you would return the affection he has begun to feel towards you. He doesn’t believe you’re someone who cares too much about appearances, but you are used to walking among ethereal beings. He knew he would not be good enough. Maybe he had been alone too long and his mind is playing tricks on him, but he can’t forget the way he made you smile. He clung onto it and took pride in it, desperately wanting to be the cause of your smile again.

Today was going to be like any other day. Normal. Or bad. I had made sure that Loki didn’t remember. Or, I tried to make sure. No one was going to remember anyway, so what was the point? Except . . . they all would. I groaned into my pillow.
I rolled out of bed, not even glancing at my phone. I didn’t want to see the date. I didn’t want to be reminded about today.
Tony and Thor and Peter would want to throw me a large party. Steve and Bruce would buy me something thoughtful and I started to feel bad already. Nat would probably be the only one to mostly follow my wishes about today. (I hoped.)
Loki would most likely hover around me and spoil me beyond the stars. Without my permission, too. Shower me with whatever I wanted, go to ridiculous lengths to keep me smiling. Drop cute pet names like “darling” and stuff. My heart fluttered at the thought.
I sigh. Loki would not be able to spoil me today.
I stumbled to the bathroom to take a shower. I wasn’t even properly awake. I blinked my still-glued eyes furiously, trying to see. “I look like crap,” I mutter. “They will kill me today.” I wanted to die today.
I stripped, getting in the shower. I kept it quick, trying to make it as easy as possible to leave my apartment before the others came at like, eleven, or something.
I could hear car horns honking. I sigh. Today was going to be long. I wrap a towel around my body. As I walk out, I noticed something new. My eyes widened.
My dear, Could you please wear this today? I had something special planned. I thought that you would like this, and maybe the . . . headdress along with it will spike some interest.
Underneath the note, there was a long, green and silver-laced dress. The sleeves were simply straps that hung on one’s shoulders.
Peeking above the top of the dress was a headband-crown-thing with Loki’s horns. Basically a more feminine version of his helmet, but not a helmet? It wasn’t gold, but silver. The top was missing.
What was he planning?
I glared at the fabric. It wasn’t something I would wear usually. . . . I debated in my head, but it was at least an excuse not to put on pants, today. I rolled my eyes, grabbed the dress, and started dressing.
***
I looked at myself in the mirror evilly. Loki seemed to know what would look good. Drat. I peered around the apartment. Where were my shoes? I looked in the spot where I left them; where my cat, Jingle, might have batted them. Nowhere.
Green satin heels sat by the door. I growled. Loki! I huffed and slipped my only options on, surprised immediately. They were comfortable. Like wearing pillows without the bulk.
“For the love of my socks,” I mutter. “Who told him?” I grabbed the stupid crown thingie as I made way to the stupid door. As I grabbed the handle, my hair flew into a beautiful hairstyle. I growled. Something told me he expected me to wear the horned crown.
I set it on my head, irritated. I couldn’t even each the top of the horns’ curve. As soon as I thought the words, the whole thing changed size to be a perfect fit. This, too, was comfortable.
He got a head start on the spoiling.
I finally turned the knob and made my way into the hallway. The neighbors weren’t out, so I didn’t get any weird looks. I held my breath as I went down to exit the building, peeking out the window only to see the bright sun. I was hoping for rain, maybe to muss my hair.
Not only was the sun out, but I saw a horse’s tail flick impatiently. Gold and green. I swallowed and walked outside. To see him.
Loki POV
No, I didn’t have to wear my armor today. I didn’t have to go and pick (Y/N) up from the apartments, either. I didn’t have to bring a horse, or buy her things. But I did. I did it, anyway.
Perhaps she had forgotten about today’s importance. Or, even better, she remembered, and I could fluster her as much as I liked. I knew that she might have dreamt about this when she was younger, or must have known someone who had.
Today, I was not just simply Loki of Asgard. I was Prince Loki, Son of King Odin. I grinned down at (Y/N), hoping my face wasn’t red from her beauty. “Hello, darling. A little bird told me that today was a special day.”
I slid off my horse, bowing down with a smirk. She folded her arms and pouted. I rose, kissing her hand. “Happy birthday, my princess.” I grinned at the mortal girl. She pulled her hand away.
“That’s not fair. I didn’t want to be celebrated,” she growled. She shook her head. “This isn’t fair. I didn’t ask for—”
“I rescued you from the others, dear. I’m your Prince Charming for the day.” I take her hand again as I bring her toward my horse. She flushed. I beamed. I leant in and whispered, “Or I’ll be your bad boy, if that’s more your thing.” She shoved me, rolling her eyes.
“Stop it,” she huffs. She turned to the horse. “How am I going to get up  onto . . . ?” I lifted her, and she yelped. She climbed onto him side-saddle. I smiled excitedly.
“Today shall be wonderful,” I vow, climbing on next to her. She wrapped her arms tightly around my waist. I was trying to make a scene, having the entire street celebrate with me. I saw some girls gape in jealousy, some men, too. I smirked in victory. My princess, I thought. Mine. My success made me giddy, but because of an opposite cause. I could tell they were staring at her, not me.
I think it was the fact that the was not only seen as I saw her, but I didn’t have to share her.
I told the horse to move, feeling (Y/N) grip tighter. I chuckled, turning so I could see her out of the corner of my eye. “Haven’t you rode before?” She shook her head, seeming to be panicked. “Don’t worry, darling. I would never let you fall.”
I made way down to the park, making sure to get some of my brother’s friends to see our wonderful lady by my side. He said they would be by that coffee shop, Avenger Beans. As we passed, I caught a brief flash of Thor’s thoughts. He was admiring my lady, with some death threats directed toward me. He was jealous, too? Glorious.
“Loki, look, it’s Thor!” (Y/N) giggled. She waved. Thor waved back. I rolled my eyes. Thor . . . always the ladies’ choice. I looked back at (Y/N), thinking about being nice to my brother for once. Maybe my princess would smile more.
“Would you like to say hello?” I ask. She shook her head, her face dark at my suggestion. My heart skipped a beat. “Why not?” I press, arching a brow. I puckered my lips.
“I’m spending my birthday with my Prince Charming?” She said it like it was a question, or stating the obvious. I felt my face grow hot, the corners of my mouth moving to my ears. She giggled again. She was probably humoring me. But there was a possibility that she meant it. . . .
“You’re so easily amused,” she says. (Y/N) was wrong, but I didn’t tell her that. She was only of the only things (and people) I smiled for.
I watched as Thor glared at me. It felt nice to have claim to something he wanted just as badly as I did. (I didn’t just want her, I loved her.) I sat up a little higher than before, now that I could see his uncomfortable expression. This girl chose me, I thought with a realization. My heart beat hard.
“Where do you want to go, dear?” I asked. She pointed to Central Park. I looked back at her and grinned. She did too, but belatedly realized what I was up to. I bundled the horse’s reigns in my hands. Her eyes went wide as my lips tugged into a maniac’s smile.
“No, no, no, no!” she protested, but not in time. I snapped the reigns, and the horse ran. She laughed, holding on tightly. “Too fast!” I shook my head. She gripped my shoulders. My cape flapped as we sped by. She latched on to me.
“Never!” I laughed. “One day, you and I will ride on the steeds of Asgard! Much, much faster.” She held on more fondly at the mention of One day. Perhaps she felt the same way that I did. She rested her head on my shoulder.
“You make it sound like I’ll marry you,” she said to me, her breath tickling my ear. She kissed my earlobe. I gave her a cheeky grin.
“Nothing is stopping you!” I laugh. She turned that dark, blushy color.  I beamed. “If I proposed right now, what would you do?”
“I haven’t heard one, so we’ll never know,” she replied. It was my turn to go red. I reigned in the horse, slowing us down. I slid off again, an idea coming to my brain. “Loki?”
“If I proposed right now, what would you do?” I asked again, serious instead of joking. She swallowed. Her thoughts were clear to me. What if this is a joke? Would he laugh if I told him I’d say yes? My heart beat rapidly. She would say yes?
“What would you do?” I ask again, desperate to hear the words from her mouth.
“I would say yes,” she starts, seeing my my face light up. “But I’d tell you I would want to hear you say how you feel about me first”—she slid off, too, into my arms—“get down on one knee”—(Y/N) wrapped her arms around my neck—“and pledge your heart to me like a fairytale bad boy prince.” She smirked at me.
I took her hands. I sunk to one knee. “(Y/N),” I start, doing exactly as she said, “I love you. I promise you my heart for as long as I live. I’d kill, as well as save, a planet for you. Will you be my princess, (Y/N)? Will you marry me?” I grinned as she tried hard not to laugh. Though we were both serious, this whole manner was unforgettable.
She looked around at the crowd of people who were watching. She blinked back happy tears. Had I truly made her cry? She took a deep breath, trying to speak, but ended up laughing and sobbing. She just nodded. “Yeah.”
I kiss her hands. “I don’t have a ring but—” I try to say, but she stopped me.
“The horns,” she joked. “Engagement crown.” She giggled, pulling me up. I wipe her eyes. She kissed me, standing on her toes. “How about this? It’s semi-official until you get a ring.”
“Excellent,” I agree. “Engaged to be engaged.” I kissed her forehead. “We only have so long, princess. Let’s hurry.” I lift her back onto the horse, following suite.
“Where did you get this idea?” she questioned, obviously about her birthday. “Why did you decide to do it this way?” I brought our horse into the gateway of the park as I thought about my answer.
“Nat said something about almost every little girl wanting to have a prince at least once. I kind of became obsessed with making a point.” I cleared my throat. “It was truly just a dare, though,” I lie. She nodded.
“Suuuure. And the silver?” she asked, kissing my neck. Was she distracting on purpose now?
“Just our colors, love. Silver and gold. Green to match.” I kissed her hand, getting down, and helping her as well. “I’ll park the horse.”

Your POV
I was still in the same outfit as before by the time we walked into the party. (It seemed there was no way of escaping it after all.) Tony walked in, beaming at Loki and I.
“You dressed up the birthday girl?” he asked, looking me over. Loki stood a little closer. It made me uneasy to be the very center of attention.
“Indeed. I also took her for a ride around the city.” Loki wrapped his arm around me. I felt my cheeks warm again. He kissed one of them before whispering something into Tony’s ear. His eyes widened.
“You—?” Loki nodded, cutting him off.
Tony quickly turned his focus on me, putting a box in my hand, pulling me by my other. “Come on, kid. I have everyone here now, so I need you to be the the guest of honor like you’re supposed to.” He drug me out to the living room where the other Avengers were, along with a mountain of presents. I swallowed. I looked behind me.
Loki didn’t follow. I frowned. I tried to look farther, but Tony turned me back to facing forward. “So how’s Reindeer Games?” Tony mutters, smiling. I flushed.
“He’s fine,” I squeaked. He led me over to the huge group of people. I moved as slowly as I could. “Tony did you really have to do this?” I whisper furiously.
“Yes,” he said. “Now go have fun.” An element was off, like he was hiding something. I vaguely wondered what it was. Was it what Loki said to him?
----
“Open the next one,” Nat said happily. A book, definitely. From Nat and Clint. Okay. I ripped the paper. I grinned, against my own morals about books. Bruce had gotten me a necklace. Tony had bought me a dress. Thor made me a knife.
“Romeo and Juliet?” I gasped. “Thank you!” I set it on the other presents I got. I looked behind me. I had heard a sound. “Does anyone know where Loki went?”
“NO.” Tony said that way too fast. I narrow my eyes. Thor was coughing on his coffee. Something was definitely up. The others looked at the two. I blindly accepted the next present from Nat’s hands, my eyes never leaving Iron Man and the God of Thunder.
“Okayyy . . . ,” I said. “Who is this from?” I was told by Sam.
We spent maybe another two hours doing presents before Loki walked in. He seemed nervous. I smiled at him as he sat down. My lover wrapped his arms around me. “Sorry for the delay. I had some business to take care of, princess.”
***Hours Later***
Loki POV
“Loki!” (Y/N) whined with happiness. “I said no more gifts.” She hung onto me. I chuckled, kissing her happy face. I tickle her back with my fingers. It had been several hours since we left the party, even more since we left the park. I had made sure not to ruin her lovely face before as I kissed it all over.
“Well, this one can slip by your order, my love,” I tell her. She sighed.
“Fine,” she spat. She snuggled into my bare blue chest, pulling up the blanket, peeking up at me. I smiled softly, tucking her hair out of her face. “What is it?” she asked, narrowing her eyes.
“Well, while Tony and Thor kept you busy, I went back to Asgard for an hour or so and was able to get my mother’s ring, and—”
“You what?” She sat up, eyes wide. I was afraid I had upset her. She covered her mouth in shock. “Your mother’s?” I nodded slowly.
“Yes,” I whisper, easing her back down. “It was the only thing I could think of that would be worthy for you.” She wrapped her arms around my neck lovingly, suddenly. I made a noise of surprise.
“Oh, Loki!” she cried, kissing my face. I kissed back, rolling on to my side. She kisses me so passionately.
“Would you like to see it?” I ask. She nodded. I took it out. She gaped.
“Loki, it’s beautiful,” she whispers. I slipped it on her finger.
“I love you,” I say.
“You’re my Prince Charming,” she giggled.

Part 34 - The Infinity Stones
Tumblr media
No one's POV...
They all stared at you, ready to listen and get teached. You sighed and called a window open. You opened a file with the name Infinity Stones. It opened 7 windows. 6 of them had one colored gem and the last window had a golden Gauntlet showing. You started after Laufey sat down on a chair to listen too.
"Interrupt me, if I forget something, Laufey."
He nodded. You took a deep breath.
"There exist 6 different, very powerful gems. They are called the Infinity Stones. Every gem has different powers and are very dangerous in their own way. The purple one is the Power Stone. Laufey, could you please show it, because Fandral looks on the complete false one.", I said.
He nodded, stood up and put his finger on the purple gem, which was at the very left.
Tumblr media
He sat back again.
"Thank you Laufey."
"What can the Power Stone ?", Loki asked.
"The Power Stone carries enough power to wipe out a whole planet and has to be kept in an special container, because it is very powerful. If you aren't strong/ worthy enough, you explode into pieces. So...The carriers can use the gem to mow down entire civilizations like wheat in a field. Once, for a moment, a group was able to share the energy amongst themselves, but even they were quickly destroyed by it. And only beings of extraordinary strength can control it. A God or Jotun isn't enough there. So don't think of funny things with it."
Laufey nodded.
"She is right. Don't ever think that this thing is easy to control."
"Anyway ! The green gem is called the Time Stone."
Tumblr media
(All of these pictures Photograph by Cole Iba Except the Powerstone and Gauntlet.)
"It can manipulate time to the users will. Fast, slow, rewind, you name it, the Time Stone can do it. Then we have an orange one... the Soul Stone..."
Tumblr media
"No one knows what it can do exactly... All I know is that... it could prove to be the most powerful Infinity Stone of them all. Its powers, I believe, go from reviving the dead to stealing super powers. So...yeah...Fuck that shit I am out... The next gem is the Reality Stone."
Tumblr media
"It's color is red. This one is a bit harder to describe, because all I know is this...with its powers affecting humans by essentially rotting them away. If the Reality Stone is with a powerful enough host, it can increase the host's strength and can help convert matter into dark matter. Better said...it can be a second Loki. It can turn a sharp dagger into a toy dagger, which isn't sharp at all. Then we go to the blue gem. This one is the Space Stone."
Tumblr media
"It houses unlimited renewable energy. Bad news for oil companies, good news for evil guys. But it can be also good news for good guys. And lastly....the yellow one, which I don't want to talk about actually, because one of us came in contact with it already... The Mind Stone...."
Tumblr media
"That thing got used as a brainwashing tool. And it's all it's good for.", you finished.
"How did they get created ?", the others asked, except Laufey.
"I think Laufey can explain that better than I.", you said.
He nodded, stood up and stood next to you. He started...
"As my father told me... It was told that six entities existed before the universe even came into being and, after the so called 'Big Bang', the entities transformed into the six Infinity Stones, one for every fundamental aspect of the universe. He also actually told me that they were called the Cosmic Entities, who created them."
"The Cosmic- what ?", Thor asked confused.
"The Cosmic Entities, you oaf.", Loki said interested to know more.
"Who were they ?", Thor asked again.
"If you could shut up he would tell us, you big silly oaf !", Loki snarled at him annoyed.
"Loki...", Frigga and you warned him.
He sighed.
"I am sorry. Can you please tell more ? Do you know more ?", he asked Laufey.
Laufey nodded and smiled. He turned to you.
"He really has some manners from me. That is definitely my son.", he said chuckling.
He turned back around and stared at Loki.
"All I know is that... The Cosmic Entities were a group of primordial cosmic beings responsible for the creation of the Infinity Stones. They were mysterious and powerful beyond mortal comprehension, existing as myths to the oldest species in the universe. Their names were...Death, Infinity, Eternity and Entropy. And, if the story is real, they even had their likenesses portrayed on the walls of the Temple Vault on a planet called Morag.", he told them.
"But there are 2 names missing...", Loki said.
"I know. It is just a story, Loki. Not everything is true. Remember that.", Laufey reminded him.
Loki nodded and looked down. Then something sparkled in his eyes, his head shot up again and he jumped in a standing position, shocked.
"Is Odin after these gems ?!", he yell-asked.
"Yes. Yes he is. But he doesn't know where they are hidden.", you answered slyly with a smug grin.
"And you know it ?", they all asked.
"Yes of course ! I am also after them ! I wanna kill someone with a whole army and then I want to destroy them !", you said.
"Who ?", Loki asked.
"You know who Loki. He hurt you and is now after you. They took you from me, now they will feel it much worse !"
"About who are you talking about ?", Laufey asked.
"I told you about them. Don't play dumb Laufey.", you said with anger in your voice.
"Oh...HIM..."
Loki froze up. He stared in shock and panic into nothing.
"Loki was there too ? Why didn't you safe my son ?!"
"Because they set traps everywhere ! That would have been suicide ! I had to wait for his return and hope to Odin, that Loki will survive this ! No one could see, smell, feel or even find him ! I told you everything once before !"
"Yeah...you did...I am sorry for yelling at you....", Laufey said with guilt.
Loki snapped out of his daze and stared at the window with the Golden Gauntlet. He cleared his throat and got your attention. He put his finger on it.
"What is this ?", he asked.
Tumblr media
"This is a Golden Gauntlet, Loki. Made for the Infinity Stones, to control them. And guess where he let it made. Yes ! Nidavellir ! I bet that no one is still alive there. With the Stones I can bring them all back and kill HIM. Don't tell me, that you don't want to kill HIM for all of the pain and trouble he caused !"
"Wait ! It belongs to HIM already ?!", Laufey and Loki asked.
"Yes, but right now he doesn't do anything. He is waiting. When this last one fails...he goes searching them himself. I want them before he does. And Odin can't know it, because he is also after them."
"But you can't control them !", Loki yelled at you.
"I know that ! But he will find them otherwise ! I need to take them and hide them with my real self !"
Loki took a step back, tears near. Laufey was also and Frigga too. They knew what that meant for you. For them.
"Please...don't do that. Destiny please no... Don't do this to us. You will die !", Loki said crying now.
You smiled and grabbed his chin.
"How can I die, if I am not here myself ? You all forget that I am possessing a dead human body. My own is still hidden and he can't see us. He will never find out about it. And then we will plan on how to use them, without dying."
Realization hit Loki and he blushed. Hard. You laughed.
"You forgot. Right ?", you asked him.
"Yes I did...", Loki whispered.
"So...that's why you want to do it ? You aren't in your own body ? Wow...", Laufey was amazed.
You giggled.
"I will also have some help."
"Who will help you ?", Thor asked.
"You don't know them. The Guardians of the Galaxy. I know 2 people, which would love to help me."

third times a charm (loki x sigyn)
Tumblr media
Plot: Loki awakes on a mystirous ship after the events of ‘Infinity War’  leading him to a shocking discovery. A woman.
Paring: Loki Odinson X Sigyn Notes: old oneshot/sceniaro I wrote last year for an english assignment
was pretty proud of my mark so have this <3
༺═──────────────═༻
I woke, feeling burned out but somewhat buzzed, probably because I have just realized I banged my head on something hard and solid above me. I groan at the sensitivity of not just my head, but my whole body throbbing in pain.
Soon my eyes widen as I recall of the previous events that what seemed 40 seconds ago. Ship, thanos, blast. My heart sank into my stomach, the Asgardians. My brother, Thor. did they survive? As for me, I was just being choked to death by that monster that thinks he could be a god, surely if I’m here, they must be here too.
I finally decide to open my groggy eyes, white light pulsed at me, before creating a blurry, then clear image in front of me. I was on a ship of somesort, very brighter than the one I was just previously on with the rest of Asgard. I scurried to my feet in panic, my limbs aching even more. My heart also slowing down a bit as I realize that this unknown ship I am on was not in fact moving, but was structured on the ground.  I yelp out in strain as I turn my neck, my hand reflexing to come up and hold it. I walk further into the ship limping slightly. I see light coming from the scattered windows, some having glass smashed.
“Where am I .. ?” I whispered to myself.
It was eerily quiet as I examined the ships control panel, buttons, switches, and steering devices. I recognized the layout, this was indeed my home planets, asgardian technology.
“Seems.. You’ve awoken.” A female voice spoke behind me,  I think I had just gotten a taste of my own medicine after pranking Thor all those years, my whole body jolted, and I turned around instantly, seeing a woman at the ships entrance. She wore a velvet green traditional asgardian dress, it looked dirtied as well as having rips and holes around it.
“What happened..?” I asked slowly, gathering my bearings and rubbing my forehead.
“The ship blew up, Thanos is after the stones.” I could have sworn I saw judgement flash in her eyes momentarily, anger circulated throughout my body, how dare she disrespect her king of asgard like that.. She should have kneeled!
“I’ll have you know, I am your king and-”
“Asgard is gone. You are not my king, you should at least thank me for saving you. Me, your saviour..” She cut me off, retorting sharply as she smirked slightly at her last comment. That’s right, I am no longer king, but I am still Loki, God of Mischief. I was taken aback by her bravery, to stand up to someone of such a higher rank to a girl like her.
“How did you manage to save me?” I said, eyeing her.
“While I was blasted in space, almost perished. One of Asgards emergency ships was also falling in abyss from the blast. I climbed on then I noticed a figure not too far from the ship, once thanos left, I grabbed you and pulled you on .. Just my luck, It ran out of fuel and I landed here a day ago.” She said, walking around the ship taking a few odd looking blocks out of a rusty side panel and throwing them in a bag she had in the doorway.
I nodded, my eyes a little wide by what she managed to do. That’s clever and smart for just a asgardian, she’s lucky she didn’t even get damaged from the blowup.
“What is your name?” I realized I never asked, I should at least keep my manners.
“It’s Sigyn.” She said, hesitantly.
“Well then.” I paused, “Sigyn, I must stop thanos, I think around this time he’s roughly going for the soul stone on vomir. I must get there before him, I am losing time as we speak.”
She looked at me, her eyebrows furrowed in question, probably thinking my plan was a suicide mission. “Are you insane?! If you thought your evil sister was a hard match, Thanos is four times more powerful!”
“Yes .. Not as if you had magic that could help me, besides I am a god. Remember?¨ I said waving my arms around; I really did not have time for this. She looked at me even more angered. I shook my head and grunted in annoyance.
¨Healing powers, remember? How did you think I repaired your neck?!¨ She mimicked, anger piercing at me through her eyes.
I shook my head, rolling my eyes at her then holding my elbow out in annoyance. I suppose I cannot stop her pestering so I might as well bring her along on my journey.
I looked at her again waiting in annoyance for her to just hurry up.
“Oh for the love of odin, hold onto my arm.”  I said, raising my voice as I tapped my foot, glaring at the ceiling while I waited.  She’s almost as clueless as a midgardian as I teleported us both to Vomir.
The planet was foggy and dark, it had some sort of cheerless and heartsick downcast upon it that could make even the strongest man feel sick to the stomach about it. She let go of my arm, as we both cautiously took steps further onto the unfamiliar planet. Sigyn let out a yelp as a rat looking spider creature ran across in front of us. I rolled my eyes again, sneering at her.
“Hush! There are .. others” I said, listening closely to a large cliff towering over us, there were muffled voices, then a scream and a large thud. We both stopped our movements, I felt in my pockets for my daggers as a weapon, but they were no longer there. I’ll just have to use magic.
“L-Loki look!” Sigyn yell-whispered to me, pointing in the distance with fear in her dark blue eyes that shined brightly on the foggy and dark planet.
I knew in that exact moment, we have already lost this battle. Thanos had gotten the last stone that he needed; The soul stone. He was travelling somewhere now. I ran to a edge of a small hill, trying to catch a glimpse of where his own ship was headed, a spark of hope bubbled inside me. Maybe now I could at least track him from here. I squinted my eyes, then my stomach dropped when I realized where he was going.  Midgard.
“Sigyn! We must go, he’s on his way to the midgardians.” I panicked at her, she looked at me confused from the use of “Midgard”, then her eyes lit up. “Like .. Earth, the planet?!” I nodded thinking for a moment, we wouldn’t be able to teleport. Ah! My infamous route, we’d just have to jump into a certain space time hole and we’d be there.  grabbed sigyn with no time left to spare, she screamed as I jumped off the planet's edge “Hold on!”
I yelled as we fell further.  I close my eyes shut as go deeper into the abyss of space. I groan, holding my head for the second time today in pain. The moment I opened my eyes I knew where we were, New York. Just like the same battle in 2012, Thanos’s army covered the blue sky. I felt anger as I stood from the broken sidewalk and watched the mindless creatures destroy and kill the midgardians. I turn around, to find sigyn behind me healing a midgardian that collapsed on the ground bleeding onto the concrete. I looked at the sky again, trying to think of a plan. “Sigyn, you heal them, I’ll take care of these filthy creatures.”
I teleported onto a rooftop, using my magic to twist and turn the necks of the giant snake like creatures till they fell to their death. I continued this method till my magic was running low, and I was becoming tired. There were only three giant ones left in my eyesight, all of the midgardians had run off to safety and evacuated. I breathed shallowly, running towards all three with my daggers, I jumped, using some of the rest of the magic I had to levitate myself at the middle one, slitting its throat. While using my magic to copy and make the other daggers perform the same movement on the other two creatures till they all fell to their death. I floated back down, collapsing.  I hear footsteps behind me, I turn to look and see Sigyn standing above me, holding her hand to help me up.   “I think I’ve finished them off, but there had to been more earlier. Perhaps it was what my brother calls him the man of iron..” I spoke, pondering to myself, coming to the conclusion I confused Sigyn again so decided not to respond to my thoughts I spoke again to her, “The battle isn’t over though, something is happening in wakanda, I sense it..”  I wait a few moments, before becoming annoyed and turning to her. My mouth falls agape, my whole body froze as I see what was left of her legs and body becoming of tiny pieces of dust, floating away.
Disintegrating into thin air.

I have always loved you - Thorki
Loki felt endless guilt on his shoulders. He wanted nothing more than to apologize to Thor. Thor felt nothing but regret weighing on his chest, he told deaf ears he was sorry every day.
--------
"I might give you a hug if you were actually here."
"I'm here."
The memory was nothing but distant despite it only happening a handful of days ago. It was like a meadow of sunflowers compared to the present situation. How Loki wished to reverse time, go back to the memory. Spill all his feelings as Thor held him in his massive arms full of relief. He longed to apologize over and over again for the endless pain, tell Thor of the constant guilt that hung over his small shoulders. A universe of pain that rested on one small pair of shoulders. Some he'd caused, some he has earned, and some that had been inflicted in his years of life.
Now in this moment, he could only think of the happy moments in life. Him and Thor growing together, training together, actually caring about each other. He couldn't think about his betrayal, his anger, his jealously. He remembered Frigga teaching him the art of magic and Odin preaching to both Thor and him about what it meant to be a king. The happy memories seemed endless now, he began to wonder how he was caught up in all the bad one's so quickly. How he had cast aside everything good to him. His mother and father both gone and now all of Asgard. And soon if he didn't act, himself and Thor.
Loki wanted to live.
He wanted to carry on and fix his horrible acts. He wanted to spend his time with Thor like they once had together. To Loki, that was too much to ask. He was already burdened with guilt the size of the universe. As he gazed at Thanos and his minions he had never wanted to live more. Being in front of the ones that has tortured him until he had lost most of his humanity, that convinced him to destroy New York like he would get some time of positive feeling from seeing people suffer. In truth, he thought if Thor could understand his pain he would feel better but it didn't. It made him feel worse seeing Thor heartbroken over his actions, looking at him with such disappointment and hurt.
Again Loki wanted to go back in time and tell Thor all his feelings but he quickly casted aside that thought. The past couldn't be changed and the present decides the future. Loki's blue eyes shifted to Thor whom was as tattered and beat up as him. Thanos held him like a ragdoll which only managed to infuriate Loki further.
Loki wasn't native nor was he stupid. He knew first hand what Thanos and his minions were capable of. All he had to do was look around him and see the destruction of the Asgardians.
His gaze shifted from Thor to Thanos and he tilted his head. He knew Thanos' only goal was the Tesseract and Loki would not be handing it over so easily. The giant already wielded one, Loki couldn't imagine the power of two. It was unthinkable of the likes of him having the power of the universe. Although Loki knew not of his goal, he knew he would pursue it no matter the cost. Even if that meant wiping out entire races, planets, perhaps even a solar system. Loki looked upon the giant with utter fearlessness. The universe didn't have time for cowardness nor second guessing. The fate of the universe rested on Loki's strong shoulders.
"We have a hulk."
Then Loki found himself throwing his body into his brother and the rest after that was a blur. To this day Loki could only remember small details. Bits and parts here and there. He tried his hardest to block out any moments but still he awoke at night, sweating and panting. The memory in his dreams was real and accurate but as soon as he would awake the memory would leave him. The only thing left in his body was fear. He often found himself hiding his face in the closet softest thing, usually his blanket and he wept. There was no one there to comfort him or tell him it would be okay. Mostly because he believed it wasn't okay.
Years had went by and with those years so had his reason for living. That day on that ship with his brother and Thanos had been the death of him. Not physically. Mentally, emotionally. It broke every aspect of him. On that day with fire raging around him, he had to witness his only hope in life die. His only reason for wanting to be good, gone. His only reason to keep going, gone.
Loki was not like Thor. He was not strong. He did not have friends. He didn't have a world to protect. He didn't have a purpose. Not anymore. He had found his resolve on that ship and lost it only seconds later. He wanted to live for Thor. He wanted to correct his mistakes for Thor.
The broken prince turned onto his side has his tears slowed. He wiped his puffy eyes and took a deep breath. This was almost a daily occurrence. The pain. The pain was endless. Loki wanted to die. Loki wanted to return to Thor so they might again embrace each other. The only reason he hadn't thought to end it all was because Loki thought this was his punishment. He believed he deserved this pain and suffering. He had hurt Thor and so many others over and over. Killed dozens without a second thought, he deserved this.
"I deserve this."
---------
Thor walked into the large, white building like he had almost every day. He tried not to miss going there. He was always anxious and worried when he entered. He had a coffee in his hand and he drank it to sooth his nerves as he walked to the receptionist. They were well acquainted by now. "Mrs. Banner, how are you today?" Thor greeted with a fake smile that he had learned to perfect. The woman gave him a smug look her face speaking 'really?'. She was a young woman with strawberry blonde hair. Her attitude was aggressive but from what Thor could tell she was very loyal and caring to the patients and family members. "I've told you many times to just call me Natasha, honestly." She rolled her eyes like it really bothered her that much. "I'm only 26, being called misses makes me feel like a 40 year old soccer mom. I'm not at that point yet." She joked causing Thor to chuckle. By now he had signed in and glanced up at her. "How is he?" He asked already knowing the answer. "Still breathing." Natasha answered. They exchanged a look, her gaze full of sympathy. This happened everyday. He would ask and it was always the same response.
He gave her a quick goodbye and thank you. He told her he'd talk more on his way out which she responded with a sassy 'whatever you say'. Thus Thor found himself wandering the all too familiar halls. These halls were coated with white paint, the tile was white and the ceiling was white. Everything around was pure, the setting a hospital should have. His shoes tapped as he walked to the elevator. This was his daily route. Receptionist desk, hall, elevator, hall, agony. That's how it always went.
Thor really hated the hospital, it reeked of sickness and fear. He didn't like being helpless to all these people, he wanted to help but he had no power. The elevator stopped on the third floor and let him out. He followed the perfect white tiles all the way to room 316. His blue eyes glanced into the room through the glass beside the door. There laid his precious Loki. Sleeping. For what seemed like eternity.
It took Thor a moment to work up the courage to walk in as it did everyday. When he finally entered the room he went to replace the water for Loki's flowers that constantly sat beside him, giving him an excuse not to look at Loki just yet. Once he was finished procrastinating he slowly turned his electric blue eyes to Loki's sleep figure.
He sat on the edge of Loki's bed, carefully, and took his unmoving hand in his. His eyes traced Loki's beautiful face, Thor always thought he had the most precious smile that stretched from cheek to cheek when he was truly happy. He missed that smile. He missed Loki's voice. He missed everything that had to do with Loki. Thor's fingers twisted a strand of soft black hair. Loki's hair had grown a lot, it was halfway down his chest by now but Thor refused to have it cut. Loki was perfection no matter how he looked.
He sighed and ran a hand through his short hair. He looked out the window and realized he had left his coffee with Natasha. It dawned on him how tired he really was. He looked down at Loki and lifted his arm to wrap around himself. Thor placed his head on Loki's shoulder and held the younger man close. He missed getting an embrace back but holding Loki was enough for now. Slowly his eyes closed and he drifted asleep. For now he would forget about the pain and agony and focus on nuzzling his face in Loki's smooth locks.
He awoke to shuffling and a little bit of beeping. Quite unwillingly he opened an eye to see Loki's doctor. "Hey Dr. Banner, how's he doing?" Thor asked, regretfully sitting up, away from Loki's warmth. Loki, of course was still sleeping as Thor held his hand and rubbed his knuckles with his thumb.
"He's doing better, last night he had a sudden shockwave of brain activity, it gave me quite a scare. It seems like good news. Brave wave activity could mean he's starting to wake up from his coma." The doctor informed. Loki's doctor was a middle aged guy who was kinda hunky. He was the reason he got along with Natasha so well, considering the two were married.
The news made Thor lighten up, his eyes showing hopefulness. "He could really wake from his coma?" He asked Bruce, sounding like a little kid in a candy store. The thought that Loki might wake up overwhelmed him. The doctor put down his clipboard and began to take his patients vitals. "It's not my intention to give you false hope. Loki has been in this comatose state for over a year, we can't get too excited to tell what a little brain wave activity means. For now we just have to keep praying." Bruce told Thor in which the younger man nodded understanding. The doctor gave Thor a pat on the shoulder and Thor nodded at him. "Thank you Dr. Banner. For all your help." Thor said and the man smiled. "Its my job" He said and walked out of the room closing the door behind him.
Now alone again, Thor could only stare at Loki's sleeping face. He recalled the events that led up to Loki's accident. They were living together and like all lovers, they were fighting. It was about Thor's father who didn't approve of their relationship. His father had disrespected Loki and numerous times had put both of them down and condemned them. Thor wanted to stop his father but he couldn't, they were still family and he could never speak ill to his father but Loki could. Loki and Odin didn't get along one bit and Loki resented Odin.
Thor was stuck in between, he loved Odin as his father and Loki was his lover- his boyfriend, whom he really wanted to spend the rest of his life with. He wanted the two to get along. He remembered how happy Loki was when he told him they were going to take a vacation, let out some stress. Loki had given him that smile of pure happiness that he adored. Thor should've known Loki would lash out in anger when he found out the trip was actually going to be with his parents.
They argued for hours and hours. Thor couldn't understand why Loki didn't want to make things work, Thor couldn't understand how Loki could be so selfish. All he was asking for was a little compromise. When Thor raised his voice and started cursing it was so surprise that Loki grabbed his motorcycle helmet, slipped on his jacket and left for the cold of winter to talk him.
Thor had been so infuriated he hadn't even thought about the consequences. A motorcycle speeding in anger in the cold of a winter's night. How could he have been so stupid? He got the call only an hour or two later and rushed to the emergency room. He found Loki was still in surgery. Internal bleeding, severe head trauma, and so much more. He remembered seeing Loki's lifeless fingertips slip from the table only to be put back into place by one of the many nurses. In that moment Thor could only hope and pray. He could only stand and wait. He waited an eternity. His heart racing, his eyes tearing. When the doctor came and told him Loki was in stable condition, relief flooded Thor and he couldn't wait for Loki to wake up. Then the news followed that there was a chance Loki might not wake up.
And here they were, Loki still in his eternal sleep. All his cuts and bruises had long healed leaving his face pure in its beauty. Thor was filled to the brim with guilt. He knew Loki's parents died when he was only a child. He never experienced parental love and care and Odin rejected him without giving him a chance. Thor cursed himself for not realizing it sooner, Loki only wanted acceptance. He cursed himself for trying to force Loki when in reality he should've been forcing his father. He loved Loki, too much that he had taken it for granted. He didn't realize what he had lost until it was lifeless and immobile.
Thor longed so badly to reach out and shake Loki until he woke up. To tell him how sorry he was and how much he loved him. Thor wanted to express how he loved Loki so so so dearly. He regretted not doing it when he still had the chance. He wanted Loki to tell him it would be okay, that he was forgiven. This weight of guilt on his chest was too heavy. It was crushing his heart.
Thor snapped out of his thoughts of guilt and grief when the tips of Loki's eyes began to water. This happened occasionally. Loki would cry in his sleep, which only told Thor they were both suffering. Before the tear could slid down Loki's cheek, Thor took his sleeve and wiped away the liquid. His hands moved to cup Loki's face gently and softly he pressed their lips together.
"I'm so sorry Loki." He said as he always did. As expected there was no answer.
The days blurred into weeks and everyday he visited Loki in hopes a new day would bring good news. One particular day when he walked into the hospital, he saw Natasha's eyes snap onto him. "Don't bother signing in. Go. Hurry." Her voice was full of urgency that made Thor's stomach do a flip flop. He didn't even question, he flew to the stairs. The elevator would be too slow.
His heart was pounding out of his chest of what he expected, his stomach was caught in his throat as he raced to room 316. Could Loki actually be awake? Could he finally say what he needed too? Thor ran down the hall and slammed open the door to Loki's room. He stared for a second. Loki was sitting up facing away from him towards Dr. Banner. "Thor-" Bruce wouldn't have time to finish as Thor was already kneeling in front of Loki, his eyes full of every emotion under the sun. "Loki? Loki. Please it's me." Thor pleaded. The Loki he saw now was different, his eyes were dull. It was like his body was moving but his mind hadn't fully awoken. His eyes didn't move to look at Thor.
Thor gripped Loki's shoulders desperately and turned to look at Bruce. "What's wrong with him!?" He shouted helplessly. "I've never seen anything like this. It's like he's sleep walking. His mind isn't fully conscious but his body is active and moving. His pupil's are barely responding to light which means he's barely awake." Bruce explained. Thor contemplated for a moment before looking back into Loki's eyes and gripped his face tightly. "Loki please, it's me. Loki, can you hear me? It's Thor."
Loki's eyes flashed in a sparkle of awareness. Slowly, shakily, his slender arms wrapped around Thor's shoulders loosely and he leaned into his lover. "T.. Thor.." Loki muttered weakly. Thor could've been jumping for joy, he embraced Loki tightly and buried his face into his lovers shoulder "yes yes, its me Loki." He responded, gripping at the cloth of Loki's gown.
Loki only tightened his arms around Thor. His awareness coming back slowly. "I-i... I thought you were dead.. I saw you die.." He sobbed into Thor's shoulder. "What are you talking about?" Thor asked softly and slowly pulled back to look Loki in the eyes. He stared into those beautiful orbs he longed to see for so many months. "Thanos.. He, he killed everybody. What happened to Asgard? Where is this place?" Loki was stuttering nonsense that Thor didn't understand.
"Loki I'm right here." He said taking his lovers hand. "The hospital you're in right now is called Asgard. You've been here for almost two years. Loki, do you not remember your accident?" Thor asked and wiped away Loki's heartbreaking tears. "A-accident?" Loki stuttered trying to remember. He reached up and gripped his head. "Thanos.. The infinity stone.. Living without you? I lived through all of it" He said, looking at Thor half expecting him to disappear any moment and wake up from another nightmare. "That can't be possible, I dreamed about your death every night, I-i cried everyday. Everything with Odin, and Midgard. I-i wanted to tell you how sorry I was for it. I was living my punishment.. For everything I did to you." Loki bursted into full on tears and sobbed. Thor moved forward and hugged Loki tightly.
"Loki, I promise, it was only a dream. You were in a car accident on your bike. We were arguing about my father." Thor said the details vaguely trying to get Loki to remember. Loki starred at him with tear filled eyes of guilt and hurt. "You wanted Odin and I to get along by going on a trip with all four of us.. I remember some.." Loki said unsure of himself. He saw flashes of Thor screaming at him, he remembered grabbing his helmet and slamming the door. He remembered bright lights before everything went dark.
Thor was beyond happy Loki was awake but they had a lot to talk about. Everything before and what they would do from now on. "Loki, will you lie down?" Thor asked softly, he didn't want the younger man to push himself. Loki shook his head no furiously and Thor quickly hugged him. "It's okay, I'm right here." Thor said once more and eased Loki to lie down. Thor sat in the chair next to Loki and they held hands tightly. Dr. Banner had already long left, giving them their privacy although he would be in soon to check on Loki.
"Loki I'm so sorry. I tried to force you to like my dad even though he was the source of the problem. I blamed you, and thought of you as selfish. I'm so sorry I did that. I see now, you only wanted acceptance, to be loved. I'm sorry, if only I had realized sooner. No amount of apologizes could make up for how I've made you feel... Loki, you mean everything to me, I'm sorry it took me till loosing you to figure that out. I love you more than I can comprehend." He said and leaned against their enclosed hands, letting out a gentle cry. He had been holding in these feelings for almost two years. He wanted to say these things so bad, he craved forgiveness.
"Thor, it's not your fault. If I hadn't acted like a child thing's wouldn't have ended up this way. In my dream... I truly believed you had left me, you had died and I cried everyday. I wanted to tell you how sorry I was for betraying you and hurting you over and over. Now I see that that was my brains cooping mechanism of some sort. Everyday I believed I deserved the suffering I was enduring. The suffering of how I couldn't tell you how sorry I was. I'm sorry Thor, I'm so sorry. I'm sorry I made you angry, I'm sorry I rejected your wishes. I wish nothing but to make you happy but I failed. I'm so sorry.." He choked on a sob and Thor quickly moved up and hugged him tightly like he could never let go.
Loki's arms wrapped around Thor as tightly as he could and together they cried. Of happiness. Of sadness. Of guilt and pain. But for the first time in what seemed like eternity, it was in each others arms.

Það er aldrei of seint fyrir ást.                                          It's never too late for love.
“We are going to be late!” You ranted, stomping your foot when Susan started to flirt with the questionably young taxi driver that had brought you here. New York City was crazy, especially if you were in a hurry. Note to self—leave at least two hours earlier next time. This job interview would determine what direction your hopefully successful future would take, so you were definitely not having your friends ruin this one opportunity for you… even if you had to act all bitchy and bossy.
“Please, (Y/N), calm your tits, we’re gonna be on time. We still have…” —Karen looked at her fancy watch— “…twenty minutes.”
“So I can call you?”
“Anytime,” Susan bat her long eyelashes at the taxi driver before waving him goodbye like a spoiled princess, making you roll your eyes in plain annoyance.
“Why did I even bother bringing you two?” You asked, rather yourself than your friends when they giggled. They decided to answer you anyway.
“Because you love us? The building is only three blocks away, don’t worry.” Susan appeased. Her long black hair was falling over her shoulders like a wave of shimmering pitch when she loosened her tight ponytail. A sigh escaped her lips.
“Let’s go then.” You mumbled, seeking to distract yourself with your surroundings as you wandered along the busy pavement. This city was insane. Luxurious and important, it screamed career and success like a euphoric fury. How you would adapt to living here if you actually got that job today, you were unsure of. As for now, you were staying with Susan and her younger sister Karen, who had generously offered you a place to crash.
You were grateful, really—but sometimes, the siblings were a pain in the arse. Susan was right though. You still loved them and you three had experienced amazing things together already. You were best friends for life.
“Excuse me? Can you help me?” No. You could not. Being a tourist yourself, you would be of no help to anyone and besides, you were way too focused on your upcoming job interview. Two more blocks and your future would, if you got lucky, change for the better forever.
You flinched when Karen let out a scream, turning around in an instant to kick whoever had scared or attacked her right in the balls. The self-defence class, which you attended thrice a week, had been training you for situations like that. It made you feel safe when you were walking on the streets on your own, especially when it was dark out already. The slow progress you made with your personal trainer was paying off and making you vigilant, when you found her jumping up and down like a gummy ball and fangirling as if to react to spotting One Direction on the street, however, you frowned.
“OMG!” Susan spelled out, her jaw dropping. Her eyes were fixed on the long-haired blonde, who had addressed you. A tall and broad man dressed in battered clothes that reminded you of a homeless person. It was his face that made you realise your friends’ excitement though.
“You are Thor! OMG! You are Thor! You are the Thor! I love you! May we take a selfie with you? Please?”
The Thunderer smiled cordially and despite his confusion (welcome to the club, mate), he nodded. You didn’t care about the Norse God at all. Crushing on superheroes was Susan’s thing. You were fine dating normal men.
“Of course,” You doubted Thor knew what a selfie was in the first place but it was the least of your problems right now. Standing a few steps away, you scratched the back of your hand like you always did when you were nervous.
“Guys, we’re going to be late, for Fuck’s sake, please hurry!”
There was another person waiting. Clothed in a plain black suit that looked like it had been tailored for him, he dug his hands into the pockets of his pants. He appeared to be as irritated as you were, however, when you looked up to study his face, your heart skipped a beat.
This… was Loki. This was the very man who had tried to take over the world and caused mayhem all over New York City a couple of years ago. The man who had killed hundreds of innocent people and fought against the Avengers! His raven hair framed his flawless features, his stinging blue eyes boring right into yours. It seemed like with a single glance, he learned all of your darkest secrets and deepest desires.
You blinked, frantically, and looked away quickly when you noticed you were staring each other down, though you could still feel his scrutinising gaze on you when you brought your attention back to your friends who were now snapping crazy pictures with the God of Thunder.
You would never make it in time if they kept dawdling. Susan and Karen were both busy ignoring Loki completely as they talked to Thor, although Karen shot him one disgusted peek when she spotted him standing next to him.
“How can we help you, Thor?” Susan smiled and for just a brief moment you feared she would faint from pure delight.
Ten minutes.
“I am looking for a man.”
“Ha, I could swear most men are looking for a woman.” You muttered to yourself, scratching the back of your hand even fiercer.
“(Y/N)!” Susan admonished embarrassed. A careless shrug was all she received in return.
“Well, can you be a little more specific?” You continued. “Half of the population of New York is male.”
“(Y/N)!” Susan repeated. You shrugged once more all the while sudden curiosity hit you. What was he doing here in New York City and much more importantly, why had he brought Loki? For all you knew from watching the news, the God of Mischief had been called back to Asgard where he would have had to face justice and a proper punishment for his actions. Your curiosity was directed at him, fascination washing through your veins like a gushing wave of hot water. He just stood there, watching you, with a barely visible smirk playing on his thin lips.
Thor took a deep breath. You could tell he was irritated by your scornful remarks, clenching his fist repeatedly to assumingly keep calm, the other hand fumbling around with the ridiculous umbrella he was carrying despite the sunshine. Something was bothering him when he scowled, this much was obvious. But as were you—you had approximately five minutes left to show up for your job interview. Thor was a self-proclaimed superhero. Surely, he could take care of his problems himself and on top of it, deal with a few cocky insults.
“We are looking for my father,” he tried again, speaking slowly as if he was scolding an immature and young child who had stolen biscuits from the kitchen before supper. “Odin. He disappeared.” Following his dark words, he glared at his brother angrily from the corner of his eye. So he had something to do with it. You were not surprised he was, you had read the articles in the newspapers where they had described him as a mischievous, evil and witty cockroach from outer space.
“What does he look like?” Susan tossed in eagerly, playing with a strand of her black hair.
“He has… grey hair, a beard… he is one-eyed and wearing an eye patch and—“
“Thor…” It was the first time you heard him speak. Instantly, you turned your head to face Loki. His smooth voice was seducing, alluring and enchanting and nothing like what you imagined what a man who tried to conquer and subjugate the planet would sound like. You wished he would say more. You wanted to see how well-chosen and witty words left those thin lips.
No wonder he had succeeded in making a crowd kneel before him in fear… or had it been awe in the end? Loki wasn’t what SHIELD had let the world know he was. He didn’t seem like the monster they had described him as at all… was this the fatal mistake they had made back then?
Better stay away from him, you thought to yourself, withdrawing your gaze to stare longingly at the busy street in front of you. You were only a few blocks away now. Maybe you should just leave and let your friends deal with the strange Asgardian brothers.
Sighing, you moved to step away when you realised the reason for Loki’s unnerving comment. The mist crept up right behind you. Black, green and silver, it spread on the busy pavement, scaring passengers away and alarming a few pigeons. Wind was blowing where there appeared a black and gaping portal, promising dread, fear and death. Your blood ran cold. What was this sorcery?
Susan and Karen were frozen in place. Not daring to move, their eyes widened. They barely noticed Thor striding forward to shield them from the unidentified threat in the heart of New York City. Loki stood idly by, his lips slightly parted. Concern was present on his face, along with the undeniable expression of thinking hard. A plan was forming in his mind already.
Out of the green fog stepped a woman. Long and black hair framed her pale face, her stinging blue eyes even more intense with the black eye shadow she was wearing. In fact, she was abusing it but still, it suited her eerie appearance.
Smiling cruelly, she moved towards you.
“Who are you? Identify yourself!” Thor demanded, his right fist bringing up the umbrella. A weird sound erupted from it when he did and you understood with a start it was his famous hammer Mjölnir. This attire had merely been a disguise, hence Loki’s black suit.
“Me?” The woman replied, shrugging. “I am Hela. I am the Goddess of Death. And I am your queen.” She shrugged once more, her wicked grin widening. “Kneel.”
“I beg your pardon?” Loki narrowed his eyes, leaning forward ever so slightly.
She was another power-hungry sociopath then. Narcissistic and self-driven, with an inexplicable desire to rule a people. You needed to get away. Now.
“I don’t think so.”
What happened next was too fast for your mind to comprehend. Thor threw his hammer at Hela, a swift movement of his umbrella which had turned back to its original form within the blinking of an eye—and a lightning bolt swallowing him whole for the fraction of a second but instead of it colliding with her body, all covered in black leather, she… she caught it.
Hela sighed—she sounded almost disappointed. “Very well,”
An explosion erupted, knocking you to the ground. Simultaneously, you were pushed aside by someone and something hit your head—whether it was a body part or a piece of debris you did not know, for the only thing you could hear was the staggered screams of passengers and the high-pitched ringing in your ears. There was a sticky liquid running down your forehead and staining your cheeks. It was burning in your right eye, you could hardly see anything. Blood? Were you bleeding?
“(Y/N)…” It was Susan who croaked your name. She was lying on the ground, it was her foot that had connected with your head when you fell and when you looked up to meet her terrified gaze, you saw fear and anguish glistening in them.
A piece of metal was buried deep inside her chest, reddening her revealing outfit. There wasn’t much you knew about anatomy but with the blade being plunged into her body this close to her heart, you knew she would not survive even if an ambulance brought her to the hospital this instant.
Hela had killed her. Her absurd wrath had snuffed an innocent, one of your best friends.
“Susan… Susan, open your eyes, look at me! We’re gonna get you help!” You cried, biting back your tears.
Anger, fear and panic flooded your veins, paralysing every last limb of yours. Frozen and dumbfounded, you lay there, struggling to get up and breathing heavily all the while the goddess of death kept attacking Thor and Loki.
Thor was powerless without his hammer. He was surprised and confused and even Loki seemed startled. He flipped his daggers gracefully before flinging them at Hela so smoothly you could barely see it but even he would, on the long term, be defenceless against the ruthless goddess.
You attempted to get up and run, save yourself and Karen for as long as it was still possible. Was it? You doubted it. Momentarily, your important job interview was forgotten. If you died today… would the last thing you felt be worry about showing up on time?
It was then you heard an ear-piercing hiss. Out of thin air, orange sparks extended on the pavement. They created a circle through which suddenly, you spotted the head of a man. Dark hair and a neatly trimmed beard framed his face, a red cloak complementing the colour of it.
“Get in there! Quick!” He spoke, urging you on to… step through the portal? You could barely believe such a thing existed when Thor frowned and jumped inside without hesitation, quickly followed by Loki but then again… Hela had stepped out of a cloud made of green and black fog.
“Karen! Karen!” You bestowed frantically. She had realised now that Susan was dead too. She was kneeling next to her on the ground, her watering eyes empty and lost. She was bleeding too but at least, so you figured, she would be able to heal.
“Karen!”
“We don’t have time! Leave her, you can’t help her!” The head of the strange man shouted severely as it appeared once more. A foreign hand wrapped around your upper arm, pulling you inside the orange portal.
With a start, the streets of New York City, Karen’s kneeling form and Susan’s dead body were gone.
A/N: Let me know what you think! I’m already working on the next chapter, I’m so hyped!

A/N: My poor Loki. Can I hug him?
4th October: Trickster. 🐍 | feat. Loki
Words: 2071 Warnings: violence
Your heart had jumped upon hearing that Thor would be coming back to Earth and apparently, he needed the Avengers to help him defeat Hela—the goddess of death. Quite intimidating, really, but that wasn’t what excited your as of yet rather boring life at the Avengers manor Tony had built. (There was still a lot of bad blood between Steve and him but at least they were ready to fight side by side again to save the planet from the queen of Helheim.)
She wasn’t even half as interesting as the man you were looking forward to finally meeting though. Thor had let slip that Loki—the Loki—God of Mischief and Trickery was still alive. And now the Thunderer would bring him along because of his skills, his wits and powers, which would be both helpful and indispensable in a fight.
Thus far, you hadn’t had a lot of time to talk to the man you were crushing on. No one must know, after all; and all your raving had to remain a secret. How could you love a man who had tried to take over the world and killed fellow humans in the process, after all? By understanding his true motives, listening to what he had to say and comprehending the hurt hidden deep inside him, you answered quietly. But your short time with him had paid off. Loki was wonderful. He could be so charming and playful and once you managed to hold a normal conversation with him, he would even present you this cheeky smirk you loved so much. You liked him. More than you should, perhaps, but that didn’t matter.
For as long as he was here, he was going to need an ally anyway. Fury as well as the rest of the Avengers treated him like a mutated insect. He didn’t have his own room—if he wanted to sleep, he had to use one of the provisory cells in the cellar of the manor and on top of that, Tony (supported by Clint and Natasha) had insisted he was handcuffed at all times. Magical handcuffs that prevented him from using his magic against them and that only Tony or Thor were able to unlock.
Several times already you had tried to convince FRIDAY of telling you the code but you hadn’t had much luck yet. That computer girl was way too loyal to Stark.
Sighing, you made your way to the huge living area. There were so many windows it could have been a giant winter garden, only with a much nicer temperature. It was almost peaceful, even if living with the Avengers was anything but so. Especially today. You were greeted by loud yelling and swearing the closer you came. Frowning, you listened, slowing down only a bit.
“You did what?!” Thor roared, his voice echoing through the room so energetically you thought the glass of the windows might break. His frantic steps, almost clomping holes into the ground, followed the words he spat.
“What choice did I have? I had to get him out of the way once and for all. It is temporary. With the right spell he will be back to normal within seconds. If you ever find him, that is.” Loki. It was Loki who spoke. His smooth but dark voice was eerily calm, though there was a hint of anger and… insecurity in his tone.
He really did have a talent for provoking people, even if he was at disadvantage. He was the Trickster, after all. Bolting into the room just when you heard Thor’s fist connecting with Loki’s face for the first time, you gasped at what you saw.
The God of Mischief was on his knees, his hands resting uselessly against his stomach as they were, as usual, cuffed together. He made an effort to dodge the oncoming blows but when Thor grabbed his clothes to keep him in place and kept punching him, again and again, you felt like throwing up.
Blood streamed from his nose, his forehead, his lip. He grunted silently, the pain prominent and torturing his body. Within a matter of moments, he stopped resisting, his blue eyes widening. Loki saw what you saw. Thor had gone mad. He was throwing a fit, captured in his uncontrollable rage and he was letting it out on Loki for doing yet again something that had angered the Thunderer.
But what made it even worse was that both Tony and Natasha silently stood by, glaring down the bleeding and helpless god as if he was a particularly disgusting kind of vermin.
Thor didn’t stop, making you scream out in agony. Storming forward, you reached for his upper arm, barely able to clasp it, for his muscles were so big, and tried to tear him away from Loki.
“(Y/N), stay away from them!” No, Tony, I will not.
“Thor! Thor, stop it, he is handcuffed! Stop it!”
He didn’t listen to you. No, he didn’t even hear you. Lunging out again, his elbow hit your left cheekbone. A sharp and stinging pain cursed through your face as you lost your balance and fell back but you were far from giving up.
Looking around the room frenziedly, you spotted a flower vase. Quickly, you got on your feet again, removed the flowers and let them fall to the ground before throwing the stale water right into Thor’s face. You let out a sigh when you noticed he hesitated with a start, his expression confused as he looked up at you with cold water drops decorating his face and dripping down his body.
“Thor, you’re killing him!” You bellowed again. Finally, the God of Thunder pulled away, taking a few steps back and examining his bloody fist. Loki only glared at him with utter disgust. It took him a while to comprehend you were trying to help him when you knelt down to take a look at his injuries. Nothing that wouldn’t heal, you figured. He was a god, after all.
“Can you stand up?” You whispered, making sure none of the others—all of them occupied with Thor—could hear you. Loki nodded, still suspicious but that was the least of your problems now. Fortunately, however, none of them objected when you led the Trickster out of the room and brought him upstairs to yours to send him straight to the bathroom.
Mutely, you pushed down his shoulders to have him sit on the edge of your bathtub so you could wet a towel and clean his face.
“What happened?” You finally murmured as you knelt down between his parted legs and brought the moist piece of fabric to his face. Loki flinched, ready to pull away before realising you wanted to wash off the blood.
“A ridiculous question given you can clearly see that,” Loki huffed in response. Pursing your lips, you tried again.
“Fine. How did this happen?”
His eyes locked with yours, causing your heart to skip a beat. “When I banished Odin to Midgard, I took his memories so he wouldn’t pose a threat to my ruling.” He said quietly. Your own eyes widening, your lips parted in shock.
“No wonder Thor lashed out then.” You replied, shaking your head ever so slightly. You attended to the wound on his forehead now. It was healing already. He really was remarkable.
Loki scoffed, frowning in an irritated manner. “Is that all you have to say?”
“Pretty much. Thor’s always had a bad temper.”
If anything, the God of Mischief looked even more confused now. “You are not judging?”
“Why would I? You wanted the throne, so you took it by all means necessary.”
Silencing, he seemed to think about it for a while as you cleaned the gaping cut on his lower lip. He was still bleeding there, probably because he kept on talking but even now that he had closed his mouth, he was making you nervous. It was never easy, being in Loki’s company. He intimidated you as well as impressed you and the fact you were crushing on him didn’t exactly help. Especially when he mustered you like a piece of art. Your heart skipped a beat when he suddenly started smirking.
“W-what?” You stuttered, daring to grasp his knee for balance. The blood was almost gone now. Don’t panic.
“I quite enjoy the sight of you kneeling before me,” he purred. For just a split second, you thought he would pull you flush against him and devour your mouth with his bleeding lips but unfortunately, he only leaned back with a treacherous sparkling in his blue eyes.
Even more irritated now, you cleared your throat.
“You should get some rest so you can, um… heal properly. You can sleep in my room, I was planning to stay up late anyway.”
Loki found himself nodding, his eyes narrowing at your suggestion. This was new. All of the others simply ignored his presence most of the time and now there was this mortal woman offering him her bed. Just because you had chatted rather civilised a couple of times it didn’t mean you would such a thing. He still was Loki, after all. Nothing would ever change that. You, on the other hand, didn’t seem to care. So he accepted, sinking into the soft mattress and pulling the blanket over himself. Never before had he been grateful for something a mortal had done for him.
You were furious when you left your room again. You had tucked Loki to bed, making sure to lock the room from the outside. He would still be able to get out but without your key, no one would be able to get inside. In case Thor came back to finish what he had started, you wanted to bring at least some kind of barrier between the brothers.
“You!” You shouted, angrily starting at Thor in the living room. “You are absolutely disgusting, my friend!”
The Thunderer frowned before tilting his head. “I am terribly sorry, (Y/N). I did not know it was you behind me. Does it hurt much?” He asked in a concerned manner. Tony and Nat only stared at you, fuelling your wrath.
“I don’t care about this!” Briefly, you pointed to your cheek. “Loki was handcuffed and you flailed at him like a berserker!”
This time, Thor frowned, unsure of what to say.
“Just leave it be, (Y/N). It’s not like Loki hasn’t done worse things.” Tony tossed in. Gnashing your teeth, you glared at him.
“Yeah, maybe but none of you were handcuffed when he attacked you. He was defenceless and you still didn’t stop! Couldn’t you see he wasn’t even fighting back anymore?” You clenched your fists, ready to pounce on him and make him feel what Loki felt. Only his pain went so much deeper. His was more than just physical.
Thor didn’t utter a word when you growled and just left before the first tear could roll down your cheek. This was not fair. Loki didn’t deserve that. He had done terrible things, yes, but out of desperation. There was so much more behind his mischievous and cunning façade that he put up for everyone to mock them.
Biting your lower lip to hold back your sob, you returned to your room only to find Loki lying peacefully in your bed. He had dimmed the lights. Had he fallen asleep already? You didn’t know. Right now, you just needed a few moments of silence. So, quietly so you wouldn’t wake him up, you lay down next to him, glancing at the dark ceiling in the process. Another sob fought to break free, this time loud enough to tear apart the peace.
You flinched when Loki spoke up.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” you said, a little too fast. “Nothing, sorry. Just sleep. I’m sorry.”
Shifting on the bed, you attempted to turn away from him, only to suddenly feel his arm grabbing your waist and pulling you against him. You could feel his cool chest, his muscles pressing into your back.
He sighed. He sighed? Loki sighed!
His hearing was good. He knew you had called out Thor for attacking him and oddly enough, the thought of it filled him with both pride and… warmth.
Soon, you grew tired, comfortable in his arms. You fell asleep before him that night, having him wonder what on Earth he had done to make you like him.
