#Ogerpon Hearthflame Mask

As requested by oodlenoodleroodle a coord inspired by a coord inspired by Pokemon #1017 Ogerpon (Hearthflame Mask) with the same base dress as the rest of the variants

So, I have. Not posted. In a while. Anyways! I was super proud of these and wanted to show them off. I made Ogerpon some pixel sprites! I think these are very good, personally. I drew them in the order they are displayed: Teal, Wellspring, Hearthflame, Cornerstone. Each one has a mistake, sadly. Teal mask shading was very lazy, I just got black and white for some of it and lowered the opacity which I don't like doing but the colours were annoying my brain. Wellspring is hard to see but the outline for the legs should change colour with the shading, but it didn't. Hearthflame is same as Wellspring, but I find that the mask for it looks very weird. Cornerstone actually looks pretty good to me! It was my favourite end result. However, it was very confusing to draw. And here are the smaller ones! These are ones you would see in a Pokémon battle. 93x93:

I used Ogerpon's showdown sprite as a reference by the way, I would have struggled immensely without them. Thanks, Showdown! I usually don't like asking for reblogs but I am really proud of these and would appreciate it ;^; Let me know which one I made is your favourite out of the 4 ^^;

For example: My personal favourite is the Cornerstone! I think the shading is really good, the line art is great, despite me being worried that it would look horrible, I started it last night and I freaked out because it was looking really bad. So, the fact I got it to what it is now, made me REALLY proud.

I will be making a no-mask one soon! That will take a while due to the fact I won't have a reference for it. I managed to do Wellspring and Hearthflame within 4 hours. So it usually takes 2 hours (in total, ignoring breaks or stopping for the night) for one sprite. Due to no reference, I will assume it will take at least double the amount of time. And Ogerpon belongs to the Pokémon Company, of course. And if you cannot tell, Ogerpon is my favourite Pokémon now! Rip Sylveon.

Going Bug in Shield freed up Fire for Pokémon Violet, instead of Dark forcing me to pick Sprigatito like I did in my first playthrough. So this was the rowdy crew that got me through the Elite Four and beyond: Skeledirge, Coalossal, Blaze Breed Tauros, Volcarona, Solarona (Paradox names are terrible and I won't use them) and Hearthflame Ogerpon.

Imagining a Teal Mask AU... Pokemon: The Crimson Mask...

Saw someone making fake Ogerpon masks for additional typings and naming them things like "pollenwing mask" and "spooksoul mask"

No shade to that creator, the masks designs they came up with were nice.

But there IS a naming convention to Ogerpon's masks!

Aside from the teal mask they are all "home" themed names.

Hearthflame = the hearth is where you cook meals at home.

Wellspring = the well at home where you get water.

Cornerstone = the first stone set when building the foundation of your home

The masks represent Ogerpon's home. And Ogerpon was unable to return to the town it called home once losing them.

we’ve got a drawing of Kieranpon in his Ogerpon form and a Full body drawing of Pecharunt Kieran

first off: pecharunt kieran (who i really need a better name for..)

since pecharunt kieran is working with scraps of their identity, their human form is… off putting, to say the least.

since in their human form they don’t have a special place to store their poison, it just kind of ends up naturally explelling itself, like through the tears and saliva. the poison also causes their human form to be extra weak, which is why the chains are there for support. (it’s also because his human form is just. unstable in general but like. yknow)

in terms of memories, pecharunt kieran’s memories are split between pecharunt’s memories before the merge, the fragments of memories from kieran before the split, and the weird mishmash after the split. Pecharunt kieran is the only merged entity that has knowledge of the previous timeline, although the MC sometimes has strange dreams about it.. but this is about our pecha boy not the MC

due to the weird mishmash of memories and the poisonous saliva, Pecharunt Kieran can’t really speak normally. They talk in broken sentences, as Pecharunt could not speak any human language beforehand, and there’s only a little bit of Kieran we can work with here

in terms of personality and emotions, Pecharunt Kieran feels very envious of their counterpart. Kieranpon got most of their memories and personality and such, and is mostly stable in terms of appearance. Pecharunt Kieran feels as if they should have gotten those attributes, and believes that Kieranpon stole those qualities from them. so they DEFINITELY will end up fighting. and while Pecharunt Kieran’s human body isn’t very strong, the chains are. (i mean just LOOK at them)

SPEAKING OF THIS AU’s KIERANPON

this is mostly just gonna be about his Ogerpon form, and how it is different from his sisters (i haven’t drawn her ogerpon form yet

in terms of what parts of Kieranpon got compared to his sister, he got more of the true parts of Ogerpon, instead of the parts the signboards talk about. They both did, but in terms of symbolism Kieran is more “true” to the original Ogerpon. Kieran and Carmine both look very similar, but there are some differences.

While Kieran’s horns, curve up, Carmine’s horns curve more downwards and back almost. Carmine is also taller and has more sharper features in general, but in terms of strength, both are about the same with their masks

SPEAKING OF THE MASKS, there is only 1 copy of each mask! so they have to share. Kieran tends to use the Teal and Wellspring Masks, while Carmine favors the Hearthflame and Cornerstone Masks. They both have their own cudgels, though.

Both Kieran and Carmine can understand what Pokémon are saying, but Kieran specifically seems to have the easiest time understanding them by the way! technically ALL of them can but like.. yknow

Ogerpon Mountain Frost fake mask form by me for the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Discord’s holiday contest :3

LORE: The Mountainfrost mask is Ogerpon’s secret 5th mask. Some time before the loyal three attacked, Ogerpon and her late human decided to trek towards snowy mountains on a journey for unknown reasons. As a gift of well wishes and protection, the town’s mask maker sent them off with the Mountainfrost mask. Then one day, Ogerpon and her human returned to their shelter after gathering firewood to find that an avalanche had completely buried it. Luckily Ogerpon, her human, and their masks were unscathed, but the Mountainfrost mask was unrecoverable beneath the snow. The mask maker’s wish for the two’s protection had worked and took the avalanche for them. However, seeing this as a bad omen, the two decide to return to Kitakami for safety without knowing the tragedy that awaits them.

Upon terastalization holding the Mountainfrost mask, Ogerpon’s Embody Aspect will grant her evasion. Without tera, she has Intimidate. The mask design is inspired by the four emotions Ogerpon’s other masks represent. Teal = Joy, Hearthflame = Anger, Wellspring = Sadness, and Cornerstone = Fulfillment, so the Mountainfrost mask represents fear. All masks also take inspiration from masks used in Japanese Noh theater. Because the Wellspring mask takes notes from both the Onna and Namanari style masks and shows the descent of feminine sorrow into evil, and because ice is a different form of water, I decided to lean into the Namanari mask inspiration further by depicting the fearful screaming face of a woman who has been abandoned, left to perish in the cold, and is growing blunt oni horns as a result of her descending emotions. Then upon terastalizing, the face morphs from fear to hatred (as hatred derives from fear), and the once blunt horns develop further to show progression in the depicted woman’s path to darkness. Other inspirations I used include the Yuki-Onna, Krampus, and “The Scream” by Edvard Munch.
