About that Medicare for All slogan

So I've been seeing 'Medicare for All' slogans again, and while I fully believe in universal health care I think they need to revise that slogan. Right now I also see a lot of people sneering because older Americans aren't glomming onto that slogan. 

They really should, IMHO, be making that slogan "EXPANDED or REFORMED Medicare for all" to get people on board. Because as it is, it can be really costly, and many seniors and disabled people are not able to afford healthcare even with it. Those thinking it's a panacea as it is, without reform? Well, let's have a peek and see.  

1. Background: Medicare is a program mostly for seniors and disabled people receiving SSDI. 

There are two basic ways to get Medicare: be over a certain age (right now 67) and receive Social Security Retirement. OR, be younger than 67, disabled and receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). Disabled people who receive only SSI are not eligible for Medicare. 

Original Medicare functions like a PPO. For those outside the States, you can go to any doctor that accepts Medicare and there are little to no prior authorizations required. This makes it easier for people to obtain quality care because they can go anywhere, more or less, and aren't trapped in a narrow provider network. 

BUT: 

2. Medicare is fucking confusing. 

There's Part A (hospital), Part B (outpatient), Part D (drug coverage), Part C (Advantage plans) and several other moving parts, each with their own fee schedules and rules. 

3. Medicare isn't free. 

Part A is free for most, but if you don't qualify for that, it can cost up to $506/month. 

Part A also has a deductible of $1600 every single inpatient hospital stay. For those outside the USA, the deductible is the amount you have to pay out of pocket before the insurance will pay anything at all. 

If someone is in the hospital for a while, they start paying copayments that begin at $400/day, starting on the 61st day. If they need to be in skilled nursing facilities for surgery/injury recovery, copayments of $200/day kick in after the 20th day.

Part B (outpatient) has a premium which, as of 2023, is $164.90 per month, as well as a once-yearly deductible of $226. 

Medicare is an 80/20 scheme, which means they cover 80% of the bill and you get the rest. That might not sound too bad until you look at what medical care in the USA costs. A simple MRI might be billed at $3000. 20% of that is yours. Still sound reasonably priced? 4. Medicare doesn't cover everything. 

Dental, optical and many other things are notoriously not covered by Medicare. That's why you will find people on Medicare buying separate coverage for these things - which means they're paying additional premiums every month. 

5. We haven't even gotten to prescriptions yet. 

So prescription coverage for Medicare is under Part D. You have to choose a prescription drug plan to administer your benefits and they are all different. Some might cost you nothing. Some might cost you a lot every month, so if you're keeping count, that's your fourth monthly premium after Part B, vision and dental. Some change their formulary every year. Those commercials about Medicare open enrollment? That's the period in the fall when people on Medicare have to sift through the formularies and see if their PDP is going to cover their meds next year. Some people do qualify for Extra Help from Medicare which covers the premiums and brings down the coinsurance for meds, but not everyone. 

Oh, and the meds are tiered. Tier 1 are the most basic/common meds that will cost you nothing or very little. Tier 4 are meds that are barely covered, perhaps 30%. 

Wait, there's more! There's a 'donut hole' or coverage cap built into plans. Essentially, when your med costs reach $4660 for the year, the coverage gap begins. Right now you pay no more than 25% of the drug costs, but it used to be a complete gap. This continues until you reach $7400 in drug costs, at which time you enter the 'catastrophic' tier where meds usually cost a lot less. And it resets annually. 

Think this is a hard cap to reach? Remember, common meds for things like cardiac conditions and headaches can cost $1000 each per month. Take a few of them and you're up to that $4460 real quick. 

This is why you may have read or heard stories about seniors taking bus trips to Canada to buy meds. It's honestly cheaper sometimes to take a trip across the border than navigate this shit. 

6. This is why a lot of people get pressed into an HMO. 

In order to navigate a lot of the above, a lot of people get pressed into optional Medicare Advantage plans, technically Part C. These are mostly HMOs run by major insurance companies. They offer the promise of consolidating benefits, eliminating the copays and drug coverage web - at the cost of pressing you back into an HMO with referrals and prior authorizations, as well as their limited network.  OR people get a 'Medigap' supplement that covers the costs that Medicare doesn't, while allowing them to remain with original (PPO style) Medicare. Those typically cost more than the Part C plans.

7. Some people do get help, but it may be hard to navigate. 

Some people have secondary insurance they can keep through a job or spouse. That might have premiums attached to it.  Some states have Medicare Savings Programs to help people pay the costs. But not all.

Some people earn little enough for SSDI or retirement that they also qualify for Medicaid as a secondary insurance. Medicaid generally picks up that which Medicare doesn't - such as that 20% coinsurance and the deductible. Medi-Medis are often pressured into joining HMOs as well, which really don't benefit them. 

Medicare also has some programs like Extra Help and such, which they can help you apply for. But this is a lot for people to navigate.  So- this is why Medicare for All might not thrill people the way you think it might. REFORMED Medicare for All on the other hand might make the same people jump right on board.

Chapter 13 - Shopping Montage

(1:18pm, 1 hour earlier at Bueno Nacho)

"Well, that was a filling meal..." Kim exclaimed, patting on the bib portion of her overalls. "I know that I cannot fight crime on an empty stomach."

The salad bowl was about cleaned off.

"Girl, it's like a fiesta going on in my mouth!" Monique exclaimed, "I should really cut back on the Diablo sauce!"

"Really good salads as always!" Tara exclaimed.

"I am agreeing with ya as well, KP!" Ron replied. "The churros and Nacos are like heaven's food, the perfect snackage!"

Rufus then belched loudly, his mouth smothered with cheese.

"Rufus, what do you say to us ladies?" Kim asked.

"Excuse me?" Rufus squeaked.

"Good naked mole rat!" Kim replied, patting Rufus on the head.

Ron then felt a rumble in his stomach.

"Um, ladies, if you don't mind, I may need to use the little boys room!"

"Go right ahead, Ron." Kim replied, "We aren't going anywhere...yet!"

Ron rushed to the men's restroom.

"So where are we gonna hit up next?" Kim then asked the two other girls.

Monique replied, "Kim, you need to get in a trip to the mall before you and the fam leave for Utah!"

"Great minds think alike, Monique!" Kim agreed, "Now we'll have to wait on Ron..."

She then heard the flushing of the toilet and Ron coming out of the bathroom.

"Hey, girls, we ready?" Ron asked. "Where to next?"

"Take a wild guess!" Kim smirked. And then all three girls gave him the dreaded puppy-dog dog pout.

Ron gasped, "Oh no, not now! Not the...!"

"...mall!" Ron groaned as he followed behind the three girls at the Middleton Mall. "Curse the person who invented the PDP!"

Rufus then went on his owner's shoulder and chirped.

"Sorry, Rufus. Someone has to carry the ladies' bags..." Ron sighed.

The four teens (and naked mole-rat) approached Club Banana.

"Shop till you drop, girls!" Monique exclaimed to Tara and Kim.

Kim then took out a piece of paper. It was titled "Colors of CB Overalls I Own". It had dark denim, regular denim, hickory stripe, camo, black, duck bib, mustard corduroy, painter's white, paint stains, brown, khaki, red, orange, yellow and green all checked off.

"Now...which color don't I own yet? Oh of course, purple! It would look great for the trip! And it would complete the rainbow that I own!"

She went to the women's overalls section of the store to search for the purple overalls.

Ron then went to the front desk and saw what his new girlfriend was doing.

"Hey, um, where exactly are the guys' overalls?"

The female sales associate sighed, "In the back of the store, to the left."

Ron went to that area of the store.

"Let's see...medium...medium..."

He finally found a dark denim pair.

"Boo-yah! This is totally perfect for me!"

Kim also found her purple pair of dungarees.

"Spankin'!"

The two of them met up at the dressing room.

"Ron? You're actually getting overalls too?" Kim asked in surprise.

"Why not, KP? They'll go perfect for the trip tomorrow to Utah!" Ron replied.

"I actually have not seen you wear them since you were 6." Kim said, pointing to her BF's overalls.

"There's always a first time for everything after an 11 1/2-year pause!" Ron said.

He then asked, "But what is the difference between the guys and girl's versions?"

Kim then pointed out the CB charm chains on the beltloops. "I think that will answer your question. Now if you don't mind...ladies first!"

She grinned as she entered into the ladies dressing room. A few minutes later, she came out in the purple overalls.

Rufus gave a paws up. Tara and Ron gave a thumbs up. Monique also gave her approval as well.

"You really dig those dungarees, girl!" she exclaimed.

"Check them off the list!" Kim exclaimed, "They are definitely going in the travel fashion wardrobe!"

She then looked at the rack featuring a baggy overall black leather variant that was on sale for $30.

"This pair would be perfect for a night out on the town or going to a fancy event!" Kim said as she grabbed a pair.

"And now, for me, the moment of truth!" Ron said, holding his overalls. He went to the men's side of the dressing rooms to change.

A few more minutes later, he came out in the overalls on his own with both straps hooked.

"Wow! I actually do not feel like a farmer in them!" he exclaimed, holding the straps. "These are totally badical!"

Ron then continued "And here is the other test..."

He unclipped the right strap of the overalls, allowing it to dangle behind his back. He had seen Kim, Monique, and Tara do the one-strap look on a few occassions at school and outside of it and also, unfortunately, see Bonnie go down the both-straps undone route.

"Success!"

"You know, you don't look bad at all when you do 'em one-strap!" Kim grinned.

1. Ik Ik "haha how cringe are you" of me to say, but honestly? Homestuck. Homestuck helped me in a time of need and when i so desperately wanted something to latch onto. Finally, I caved into my friends telling me to read it-- and it's been a blast!! The epilogues / hs^2 make me feel kinda sad though, because so much of what I loved about the original was yeeted through the nine circles of hell and into the trash. I love Y/ffany's (I call her Yippi tho) design, the art is really pretty at times, Harry is a major dork, I LIVE for seeing Vrissy bc honestly?? Her design is 10/10, very early 2000s emo style and I also live for that. Tavros is cute and a nerd and I think that's swell!

But in terms of story and how any of this happens, it makes me sad to see it happen. If Vriska could return as Vrissy, why not OTHER beta trolls? Where's my Eridan fish man, writers?? Give me the boy or perish by my fury.

2. Also super "haha how cringe are you" but,,, murder cats (Warriors), esp the early 2005-2015 amvs and stuff. I remember watching Flightfootwarrior's "I Will Not Bow" Scourge amv for HOurs and having no clue what was happening, but all these edgy kitties were KITTIES! It's introduced me to a lot of music I still listen to to this very day (Imagine Dragons, Young/the entirety of Hollywood Undead, Breaking Benjamin). And yknow what?? This new arc is absolute chaos, but in the good way.

I'm an "OG Fan". I prefer the first arc, The Prophecies Begin, to almost any of the other arcs. I just could never get into the other arcs-- not to say I haven't read them, I HAVE and the Fire Scene was probably one of my favorite moments beside grumpy Jaypaw, god complex Lionblaze, and fear the gods Hollypaw. I thought the build-up for it was SUPER satisfying. Gray Wing is my baby and I fully embellish in the Gray Wing is Silverpelt theory.

This new arc is definitely something new for the universe. While I didn't read aVoS (but I may do that if i can find the files for it), and so I don't know the major events of it other than what I've seen M.A.P.'s (Multi-Animator Projects, for clarification,,, bc unfortunately that term is also something disgusting). There's fucking cat possession and all the Clans questioning their belief system, yo. Shit be on fire.

Also the Imposter is 100% Ashfur, that's canon now, yeah??? Also im sorry but fuck Root x Bristle that's the dumbest shit I have ever seen. Give me Root x Shadow or face the wrath of my dragon plushies.

3. As much as I hate the author,,,,, Harry Potter. It's been a major part of my life for as long as I can remember. I can never really remember why, but I've always just loved it- the movies, the books, the extra little merch that would pop up in my local Walmart. Of course my favorite character is Draco Malfoy. I could go on and on and ON about how I think his character arc was SHIT and JKR didn't have the balls to make him a confident gay man that was always implied through the text (at least, my lesbian ass thought it was implied but i may just be projecting, idk). I could ramble about Draco for HOURS and what I think his character SHOULD have been and how his parents are horrible (more specifically, Lucius bc Narcissa [?] Actually showed a few good moments), and a child should never have to pay for their parents sins.

Oh noo, Draco's a villain because he's a victim of major abuse and peer pressure? He's a villain because a literal child can be horrible and they'll always always always stay as a horrible little fiend?? Fuck that. He's a child.

Unlike manchild grease pan Snape, who was a racist piece of shit and shouldn't have became a fucking school teacher but it's okay because he was ~~~in love~~~. No, fuck you, he was a creep. James Potter n Co may have been a little posh bitch to you, Snape, but that's no fucking excuse to continue to bluntly be a little cunt all the way into adulthood. You're an adult who flatly changed your PATRONUS to imitate Lily's. You have no excuse. And Harry went and named his child after you LIKE JESUS CHRIST, DID RON'S SISTER NOT HAVE A SAY IN THE NAMES TOO?????

I also fully adore the idea that Muggles can run into Hogwarts and their patronus can 100% be a made up, fantasy creature. Imagine you learn the patronus spell and suddenly fucking ARCEUS comes from your wand. Imagine learning the spell and CHTULU (i did not spell that right but im so tired) comes from your wand-- an entire ass fucking Lovecraftian, Eldrith horror is just the embodiment of you. What if it was a fucking Homestuck character like Vriska? How fucking METAL would that be?? Hskajssowjjsjs get on it fandom.

4. Hee hee very evident by my url but Pokemon is another major thing of mine. While vespiquen isn't my favorite (that title goes to Hydreigon), it is definitely up there!

I've ALWAYS enjoyed the idea of Pokemon. You run around, training up these fight monsters and collecting them. I remember playing my sister's Ruby version on her flip-up Gameboy. I couldn't even read but I ran around catching god only knows how many of the same pokemon wherever she was. Apparently, I had fought for hours in the same area and leveled her Blaziken up to lvl 50 something and left her lvl 30s in the dust LMAO.

I got my first game when it was Pearl/Diamond. It was Pearl, and it still holds a very fond place in my heart. I could barely read, I could barely write-- I had named my Turtwig something along the lines of "MmorpHy" and my player boy "ZbsibJ". Yes I remember the names slightly. I really didn't get far-- I barely got to the first gym but I was just so happy to play it.

I eventually lost the game, as a 5 year old would do, but I can still vividly remember what was happening when the game arrived. I had just came back from the dentist and was quite tired from fighting the dentist bc I was super scared. Mom suddenly handed me a box and said it was mine-- my overseas (at that time) dad had bought me Pearl and my sister Diamond, because I lost my shit about it when he visited one time.

Well, tdlr, I played it for about five minutes while struggling to stay awake against the loopy gas they made me take. I fell asleep listening to Twinleaf Town's soundtrack. Every time I play a rom of Pearl and I get to where the player's house fades in and I hear that first tune of the song, I get a huge smile on my face and cry-- as.. Weird as it sounds.

A few years later, I had gotten Pokemon Black bc I liked Reshiram on the cover. Now, this one I could actually READ when playing, but I don't remember a lot of things about it. I probably lost this one too, as a 8/9 year old would do. I DO remember, I chose Snivy and my sister chose Tepig (hrmm there's a theme here of grass/fire goin on......) and vibing to the music. I was so amazed by the sprites moving, I just kept getting into encounters to see the sprites move (oh boy, no one tell younger 7-9 y/o me about Zelda......oh wait....)

Playing Pokemon NOW, as a 17 year old """gifted""" chick, I stil have very fond memories. I recently beat Pokemon Black again and GOD the OTS SLAPS. I fucking adore the soundtrack-- the track that plays when you battle a trainer, the low health dings being turned into a legit song that also slaps, the battle! gym leader themes-- and oh my gOd, the legendary theme is amazing? It really tells you just how glorious these pokemon are supposed to be. It's not intimidating like Groudon/Kyroge/Rayquaza's themes. It's not action packed like Palkia/Dialga's is, it's not filled with tension like Giratina/Arceus's is-- but it radiates the GLORY that the beasts portray. And I live for that. (Also, Kyurem's version is my favorite because it glitches in the beginning and that's rly cool)

P/D/P and BW/BW2's stories, imo, are some of the greatest ones. Yeahhh, US/USUM's is cool and I haven't played XY nor SwSh-- but the ones I can find memorable are PDP and BW/BW2. I love N. I love Barry. They're my sons. Ghetsis is fucking terrifying, Cyrus needs a hug. Giratina scared the piss out of me when I was younger, which was NOT helped by Giratina and The Sky Warrior.

I think my favorite movies are the gen 4 ones. The Rise of Darkrai having a tear-jerking theme for such a mysterious pokemon (i still tear up when i hear Ocarion), Giratina being spiteful is a mood and Shaymin was cute, Arceus being angry is also a mood. Yeah, Pokemon 4Ever made me cry my eyes out over Celebi, Mewtwo Returns made me again cry because Mewtwo accepting who he is, I remember how vastly different the BW movies are-

I just. I have a lot of memories with the series, even if Gamefreak and Nintendo kinda do the series dirty a lot (your top-grossing thing and you made That monstrosity for the Switch? How dare you.). It's comforting to be stressed and pull up my roms for the games and to play them. Mystery Dungeon is incredibly fun to play, Pokemon Ranger is really fun with the concept (Shadows of Almia continues to kick my ass to this very day and FUCK the Jungle Relic, I hate the Water Challenge fucking gyarados bullshit). I remember the pokemon I got for MD (I got Time, my sis got Darkness) was Mudkip, if that is any help.

I love my little fictional pixel monsters.

5. Yup, someone told tiny 7-9 y/o me about console games. The legend of Zelda. My first Zelda game was Twilight Princess on the Wii and BOY did I play the fucking SHIT out of that game.

Honestly, looking back and looking at playthroughs now-- I still love TP. Twilight Princess is still one of my top favorite Zelda games-- yes, even after playing OoT, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Skyward Sword, the anniversary four swords edition for the DS where you could play by yourself (Nintendo pls bring that back, I don't have friends to play it with ;-;), Phantom Hourglass- ect.

Something about Twilight Princess grabbed me by the head and yeeted me into the world. I can remember playing it for hours with little to no breaks. I, a tiny 9 y/o, had gotten the hang of the controllers and managed to get past the tutorial quite easily. And then, I was launched into the game and I wasn't stopping for NOTHING. Mom and Dad would have to force me to save and get off to go and eat dinner. THAT sucked.

I had done everything on my own up until the first temple, the forest temple. Not where/when you saved the dumb kid, but when you were saving the spirit's light. Theeeeeeennn I got stuck on the fucking Forest Temple for deadass six months straight. I'd play for hours, running around in circles, unable to figure out where to go, and because I didn't grasp the temple's purpose of being that way- I'd get angry and get off. It wasn't until dad looked up a walkthrough and talked me through what I was supposed to do that I learned how to get through temples.

I had gotten to the last little fight with Ganondorf before the Wii broke and i could no longer play. Despite the Wii being broke and we got rid of it, I was ADAMANT on keeping the game, and I kept that game for YEARS. It was an original copy out of a sealed box, and I eventually lost it when I left it accidentally at my now ex-friend's house.

She had a Wii and I went "hey I have a Wii game!" And I brought my Zelda over. Worst fucking choice of my goddamn life. Mom called me to come home and said I couldn't sleep over like the original plan was, and that was it. My ex-friend stashed my Zelda and I never saw it again. And, even if I wanted to-- I couldn't get it back, which makes me upset. We had a BAD falling out. She likely doesn't even remember it's there, or sold it to the local game junkie kid who buys ALL games.

But I still love the game. Midna was amazing, and I loved how snarky she was and she has a very cute design! The game's OST is fucking phenomenal. Midna's Desperate Hour makes me cry bc goddamn it really sells how serious that situation is. I love Hyrule Field's theme in this game. I love the Twilight Realm's song. Zant was fucking hilariously scary. Ganondorf's design in this game scared the piss out of me when I was younger.

Midna and this game's Link and Zelda are def my favorites. Yeah yeah, Sheik is cool and all I Guess but dhsushwishs Midna holds the special place in my heart. She was totally my gay awakening BUT

For other game antagonists, I adore Ghirahim-- let's go you funky little queer-coded villain. Skull Kid was great, I love the entire dynamic of him. Prankster lost soul stumbles upon Majora's Mask and the mask makes him act out due to powers-- which, I actually took very heavy inspiration from for one of my OCs. The moon falling to Hyrule was a fucking terrifying looming threat.

But the game series holds a place, and I've yet to be able to play BoTW-- although, I'm fairly certain I'll like it. The playthroughs I've watched of it are all fairly decent! I just. Gotta save up enough money to buy it haha.

Dang guess I gotta go watch a Twilight Princess playthrough again.

Pewdiepie is back, and boy oh boy, does he look better than before? 👀 I mean, other than the new 1080p quality this new video has, he looks kinda cleaner jdkhhgskgs.

Anyways, it’s nice to see Felix again being active and happy in a video. Starting off fresh with a new LWIAY (er, LWHY) makes sense since there were a lot of stuff that happened there while he’s away. I only saw the Cooking Week part when I heard about the Subreddit changing, and I wasn’t able to catch up with the other topics they went through (I could’ve participated during Painting/Art Week! Big F. 😞).

Thank goodness he survived the whole “face mask washout”, though I didn’t expect him to buy three packs of those. And for him to wear five of them all at once (as a joke, of course).

I did not know about the Ninja thing, so I’ll just let that pass.

When Felix mentioned these “big projects”, of course this got me thinking of Markiplier’s “Heist” series and Sean’s upcoming Ego content. But as big as projects could go, what will these ones be? And when will these be released/announced? (Speculation should be later, I don’t want to pressure him too much for this time.)

I really love the effort people put into the cakes, artworks, and Lego customs that made into Sive’s folders. There were some pretty good ones too back in the Subreddit, but they’ll start disappearing into the void before I could find them again.

With all that being said, I can’t wait for more new content for this year from our #1 Youtuber. Again, welcome back PewDiePie! ✨

What made you decide to come to Dengeki Online?

I haven't mentioned it before, but I love anime and video games! I especially love light novels, so I've been looking up to Dengeki for a while now...!

To be honest, a long time ago, I applied to Dengeki's novel competition. It really didn't go well, though. Ahaha.

She grinned as she entered into the ladies dressing room. A few minutes later, she came out in the purple overalls.

Rufus gave a paws up. Tara and Ron gave a thumbs up. Monique also gave her approval as well.

"You really dig those dungarees, girl!" she exclaimed.

"Check them off the list!" Kim exclaimed, "They are definitely going in the travel fashion wardrobe!"

She then looked at the rack featuring a baggy overall black leather variant that was on sale for $30.

"This pair would be perfect for a night out on the town or going to a fancy event!" Kim said as she grabbed a pair.

"And now, for me, the moment of truth!" Ron said, holding his overalls. He went to the men's side of the dressing rooms to change.

A few more minutes later, he came out in the overalls on his own with both straps hooked.

"Wow! I actually do not feel like a farmer in them!" he exclaimed, holding the straps. "These are totally badical!"

Ron then continued "And here is the other test..."

He unclipped the right strap of the overalls, allowing it to dangle behind his back. He had seen Kim, Monique, and Tara do the one-strap look on a few occassions at school and outside of it and also, unfortunately, see Bonnie go down the both-straps undone route.

"Success!"

"You know, you don't look bad at all when you do 'em one-strap!" Kim grinned.

Chapter 26 - Day 2: Blowin' In the Wind

(4:30pm)

The Stoppable family was on Interstate 90 west when Ron caught a glimpse of an advertisement of "1880 Town".

"Oooh! Oooh! KS! Can we got there?" he exclaimed, repeatedly pointing to the sign.

But Kim denied him.

"No, Ron. We agreed that we won't stop at any sidetrips through the duration of the trip."

"But it has a skeleton man walking a skeleton dinosaur." Ron complained.

"So cool!" Rufus squeaked.

"I read on their site that the town's closed right now. So access denied!" Kim remarked.

Ron grunted and folded his arms. Rufus did the same as well.

"Man...I wanted to see the kids of what the Wild West looked like. And Rufus wanted to walk into an actual saloon!"

"We can do that another time, Ron." Kim said. "But we gotta get the van to Camp Grinning Bear first. We HAVE to stick to the schedule that I have made!"

"Aww...come on...can we at least take a picture with the family behind the sculpture?" Ron pleaded. And then, he and Rufus utilized the infamous puppy-dog pout.

Kim looked at him and groaned loudly.

"Oh Ron...Rufus, not the PDP! Not now!"

She then relented and said, "Fine...we can take a family photo in front of the sculpture BUT we are only going to be there for 10 minutes. Understood?"

"Yes, ma'am!" came the reply from the other Stoppables.

She pulled the Stoppable-mobile over onto the emergency lane right near where the sculpture was and slowed down.

"Mommy, can we get closer?" Justin asked from the backseat.

Kim then replied hesitantly, "Ugh...very well..."

The Stoppable-mobile and the camper went into the grass and parked right next to an information sign. But what the family didn't know was that the flopping left bumper cover wrapped around one of the sign supports.

They all got out of the vehicle.

"Kim...you may wanna hook up your other strap." Ron said, pointing out the undone strap dangling behind his wife's back.

"Thanks for that info." came Kim's response .

She hooked up the right strap of her overalls to be at least presentable for the photos, despite the fact that she was only clad in her bra and whatever was left of her shirt.

"How many photos are we going to take?" Ron asked.

"Three: one for the kids, one for me, Rufus, and you, and one for the whole fam." Kim replied.

"But who's going to hold the camera phone?" Ron wondered. "We didn't even pack a stand!"

"Hmm... you're right. Maybe we should get Mary involved." Kim suggested.

"And Canna?" Ron questioned again on his relative.

"We're not going to get her involved." Kim said, shifting her eyes around "I have that gut feeling that she's going to do something to me...but I don't know what..."

Ron then heard his stomach gurgle. "Uhhh...KS? My stomach!"

"Can it wait, Ron?" Kim muttered.

"I'm trying to..." Ron whimpered. "I'll go the camper and get Mary."

He got out of the van to head there.

He knocked on the damaged siding of the camper and spotted Mary taking a few selfies of herself.

"Hey, Mary, you up for some family photos?" he asked his relative.

"Oh yeah, I'm up!" Mary giggled with delight.

"Where's Canna, by the way?" Ron wondered.

"She's asleep." Mary said, pointing upwards in the bunk. Canna seemed to be under the blankets.

"Sounds good." Ron said, "Come on, let's go!"

Mary nodded her head and got out of the camper.

As the two left, however, Canna was under the blankets, texting away with Bonnie.

Ron walked with Mary to where Kim and the kids were.

"Okay, now that we have Mary here, we can take the pictures in front of the sculpture and then get the hell back on the road." the redhead said, huffing inbetween breaths.

The five of them walked on over to where the barbed wire fence was. Said fence was 200 feet from the sculpture.

"So how are we doing the pictures?" Mary asked.

"We're going to take the first one with just the kids, the second with me, Rufus, and the hubs, and the third with the entire family." Kim explained the order.

"Sounds good to me!" Mary said with a smile.

"Here's my camera phone." Kim replied, handing her smartphone to Mary. She escorted the Stoppable children to about five feet from behind the fence.

Ron's stomach continued to churn.

"KS...the chimmeritos from the Bueno Nacho are starting to betray me..." he moaned.

"Ron...can it hold? We are going to take the pics right now!" Kim insisted before pointing to Mary, "Look, she's taken a picture of the kids already!"

Mary had indeed taken the first intended photo of Justin and Alexa.

"Come on, Ron. Let's get with the kids so that we can take the other two photos!" Kim exclaimed.

Ron, though willing to be in the photos, was clenching his stomach, barely able to make it to the fence. Rufus followed right behind him.

Ron grew a look of discomfort on his face.

"Ron...smile!" Kim demanded.

"But...KS..." Ron pleaded.

"No buts, Ron!" Kim exclaimed, glaring at him.

Ron forced a smile on himself, hiding what was really bothering him.

"Okay, everyone, say...happy trails!" Mary exclaimed.

"Happy trails!" echoed Kim and Ron.

Mary took the photo without any incident.

"Now, the whole family!"

Justin, Alexa and Rufus all approached Kim and Ron

"And, once again, everyone say...happy trails!"

Kim and the kids smiled but Ron had to forcefully smille.

The photo was taken...and then a very loud sound began to emit.

Kim's smile faded that into disgust.

"Uhh...EEEEEWWWWWW!" she exclaimed, holding her nose. "Who just did their business?"

"It wasn't me!" Justin replied.

"Not me!" Alexa added. Rufus also shooked his head sideways.

"EWWWW! Ron?!" Kim shouted, "I thought I told you to use the bathroom 40 minutes ago at that gas station!"

"I did!" Ron countered, "But I only did number 1."

"And you HAD to do number 2 in your pants..." Kim groaned, looking at the seat of Ron's jeans, which now had brown stains on them...the liquid kind of brown stains.

"But I couldn't hold it in, KS!" Ron whined. "The cheese just gave in on my stomach and..."

"EWWW! TMI, Ron!" Kim shouted. "Let's just get out of here..."

When she began to walk, though, she felt a slight tug against her.

"Ron? Did you notice that?" Kim questioned.

"Notice what?" Ron wondered.

"Something seems to be stuck on my leg. Can you look down?" Kim requested.

Ron's brown eyes looked down and he saw that a barb of the barbed wire was caught against the right pants leg hem of his wife's overalls. To complicate things even further, it had rained earlier in the week and Kim's right wedge heel shoe was trapped in a mud hole

"I think I may have found the problem!" he exclaimed.

"Good, now, can you get it out?" Kim asked.

"I'll try to!" Ron replied.

"Maybe I can help!" May said, offering to help.

But Kim declined the offer.

"No, we got it under control! Can you take the kids back to the van?"

Mary nodded her head and escorted the kids back to the Stoppable-mobile.

"Man...this barb has got your overalls good, KS..." Ron said, trying to fiddle with the cloth to avoid getting pricked by the barb. It wasn't working too well.

"Ron...we don't have much time. We have to get back to the van!" Kim exclaimed. She was going to make a run for it.

But Ron sensed where this was going.

"KS, I don't think running would be a good..."

He then heard the denim fabric being torn off her overalls, and the right wedge shoe coming off her foot. It tore off half of the right overalls pantsleg and showed off most of her bare thigh and foot. Kim gasped at the damage being done to her clothes.

"...idea. But look on the bright side! At least you're free now!"

"Ron...let's just get out of here now before I make a further ass of myself!" Kim insisted.

The both of them got back to the van. Kim put the key in the ignition and started the engine. She shifted the gear to reverse...only to forget the fact that the left side of the bumper was ripped off by the information sign supports. It only left the right side intact.

Kim growled, holding her nose due to Ron's pants issue, "I am starting to hate this vehicle more and more..."

Ron replied, "Agreed with ya too!"

The Stoppable-mobile got back onto the interstate.

Have you gotten used to helping out at Famitsu App?

I think I'm getting used to it, a bit at a time. But since there are a lot of people around, it's still tough. Because I haven't really conversed together with this many people before.

What are your thoughts on working with us?

It's very fun. It's great to be able to do different things from what I do at home or at school.

They mostly have tasks that I haven't done before, so there might not be that much I can work on, but I'm still very glad that they've let me work on a variety of things.

What motivated you to work with Famitsu App?

Ayumu-san and Ai-san invited me. "Let's do this together", they said. Hardly anyone ever asks me to do anything together like that. So I accepted their offer instantly.

I wanted to make an commemorative recording of it, and when I asked them to say it again, they were kind of surprised. That's a good memory, too. Rina-chan Board: "V ♪" [TL: as in the peace sign]

When you’re working at Famitsu App, what do you talk about with Ayumu-chan and Ai-chan?

With Ayumu-san, we talk about being a school idol a lot. Often, we talk about trying our best together.

Also, there's Ayumu-san's childhood friend ??, who was the one that invited me to be a school idol. Perhaps I've listened to her talk about them a lot as well.

When she talks about them, Ayumu-san seems really happy, and I like that person as well, so I smile when I listen to her.

Ai-san teaches me about a lot of things. She knows a lot, whether it's about academics or about having fun.

And she gives me things like candy and tsukemono [TL: pickled vegetables], so I love her.

But listening to her belting out rapid-fire puns is honestly kind of a tough situation.

How do people react to your board?

As expected, everyone seemed surprised at first. But they adjusted surprisingly quickly. Humans' ability to adapt is incredible.

After they got used to it, we've had a lot of fun. I'm happy to be able to converse with this.

When you’re working at Famitsu App, what do you talk about with Ayumu-chan and Rina-chan?

I talk about work with Ayumu-chan a lot, I guess. And afterwards, I tell her about things like the latest popular apps. When I tell her about some interesting social apps, she smiles a lot when we're talking about trying to make friends using them.

With Rina-rii... oh yeah, I call her Rina-rii, but anyway, we manage to talk, with her using the Rina-chan Board. That thing has a lot of faces, so it's pretty amusing.

Oh, and I promised Rina-rii that we'd go shopping together. We're planning to hit up some cute shops and eat pancakes with tons of cream! Rina-rii is the type to want to be fed!

Do you have any thoughts on clothes?

My clothes? I guess I'd say they feel freeing? But I like them, and what's most important is that I wear what I want to wear!

Though it might not come through that well in my rendition (despite English being my most fluent language, I’m not great at writing in it...), her language does make her sound older than the others (so far), living up to the maturity touted by her PR.

What made you decide to come to Dengeki Online?

Hmm... the word "Dengeki" sounds good. [TL: it translates to "electric shock"] It's like it'll bring a little shock to your heart and body, and that kind of stimulation is what I want to accomplish as a school idol.

Please describe your appeal point(s).

My adult-like manner, perhaps. I might not have the "cute girl" feeling of other idols, but I think that maybe I could bring the fans enjoyment with a more mature charm.

...for example, hopping and jumping around like a cute girl might not really suit me, but sexy dancing with my flexible body is fine too, right?

What are your strengths and weaknesses?

My greatest strength is dancing. Right now, every time I practice, I can feel that I'm getting better, so I put way too much effort into it. Afterwards, I might check up on how my posing and walking look in the mirror.

I want to be able to give everyone a little electric shock, so I hope that one day I'll be able to say that posing is my specialty.

I can't help but think that if she bit you, it wouldn't hurt at all, and instead it'd just be cute.

Setsuna seems like the quintessential school idol. Even though she already towers above the rest of us in singing and dancing, she's always aiming ever higher and putting in so much effort. She doesn't brag. While she's younger than me, I think I'd like to learn to have that same attitude.

How do you spend your days off?

I like going to flea markets, I guess. You can find surprisingly good secondhand clothes and accessories, so I end up losing track of time. I enjoy the excitement of haggling over prices with the dealers as well.

At those kinds of places, there are a lot of street performers as well, right?

I like watching those performers too~ Being able to draw people's attention in a short time is something that us school idols have to do as well, you know. So it's very useful to see them work.

Please tell us which subjects you like and dislike.

I like science classes. The answers are clear-cut, and the methods and formulae are exact. You can derive the answers just by following the procedures—isn't that wonderful?

What genre of music do you like?

I listen to everything, but if I had to pick a genre I like, maybe ballads. Listening to a ballad, you can really lose yourself in its mellowness, right? I like that kind of song.

Someday, I'll be able to take my listeners into my own world like that too... I want to try singing that sort of song.

You usually show the image of a sexy and mature Karin-chan, but when do you unintentionally become childish?

Times when I become childish... maybe when I'm playing games. I'm not very good, but I easily become really serious about winning, so until I succeed, I pester whoever I'm with to let me try "just one more time!".

What must you work on every day, as someone who's aiming to become a model?

Practicing posing and walking is, of course, important to do every day. Aside from that, perhaps the daily routine would include eating niboshi [TL: a dried sardine snack] and drinking milk. After all, it's important to take care of what [your parents] took so much trouble to give birth to.

What has been good about becoming a school idol?

I'd have to say that it's the fact that I've been able to meet so many people. All the people cheering me on, the people working with us, and my fellow school idols too.

What should school idols keep in mind on a daily basis?

You have to be conscious of the importance of making your movements beautiful. Of course you have to keep that in mind for dancing, but being charming in your movements is something that's needed in acting as well.

Actors in historical plays, for example, gesture elegantly, and even the most minute movements can snatch one's attention without noticing! You could even say that the feeling is like that of water flowing down a stream, with nothing stopping—oh, I'm so sorry.

Once I get started talking about acting, it's hard to stop myself...

What were your first impressions of the two you're working with?

Umm, to be honest, when I first met Emma-san and Kanata-san, I thought they were the same age as me.

Perhaps you could say that it's because they're like big sisters? There's this tenderness when they’re around, and I end up feeling kind of like a spoiled kid.

I go to see plays, and watch DVDs of dramas and movies. And recently, I've been thinking that it's important to have some time where I'm not thinking about acting, so I decided to take up that challenge.

Acting! Ah, I guess I can't only say that... Umm...

A little while ago, I was into collecting small Japanese-style accessories. The other day, we were working on a Taisho Romance play, and the accessories in the props were really cute! Being able to learn about worlds that I didn't know much about is one of the fascinating parts of theater.

I only realized this recently, but perhaps it's having the courage to leap into the world of school idols.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I was surprised that I had that kind of courage in me. I can't help but be really grateful to the senpai that invited me to become a school idol.

When I was a child, my mom took me to see a play for children. On that stage, the actors shone so brightly, and before I knew it, they really drew me into it.

After that, I thought that "I want to go up on stage like that!", and that's how I got started.

Unexpectedly, you're bad at ball games.

My motor skills aren't bad, I think, but no matter what, it seems that I'm only bad at ball games.

When the ball goes flying, you could say I get confused, and I can't move like I want to. Whether it's receiving during volleyball, or catching a pass during basketball, for some reason, the ball manages to hit my face every time...

Uh, please don't laugh! Because I really do worry about it...

A message for everyone cheering you on, please!

Recently, I've been given this space to convey my words to everyone, bit by bit, and I've been able to communicate—in my own way—my efforts and feelings.

And I've been able to hear the voices of everyone who's responded to what I've said here.

The voices of those who've cheered me on, those who've encouraged me, and—though it's a little embarrassing—those who've said they like me.
