bucchigiri ep 12 lb thoughts:
wow, tbh I was not expecting to get more backstory on ara this late, but it's appreciated
aww ara thought matakara was cool
i'm still unsure what exactly a honki person is to be completely honest
komao is the best nurse thanks buddy
bucchigiri pleaseeeeee let mahoro do anything please im begging
ahaha the cat gag is finally revealed
also he just fucking stole jasmine right out of there lmaooo
okay so... mahoro uses a man to wake her brother up... sweetie I'm sorry but your brother only cares about men and fighting. it's time to give up
the siguma goons dressed in nurse outfits I'm cackling
yet again love is used as a metaphor for fighting and here it's applied to arajin and matakara hm
ahaaaaa as I predicted his wish changed. specifically to wanting matakara to wake up, no less
so like, is ichiya's issue with senya similar to matakara's issue with arajin? in that he wasn't as strong as he wanted him to be
is it inappropriate to say senya is lucky and I would like ichiya to beat me up as well
oh damn ichiya was sick and wanted to be killed by senya. senya looked up to ichiya and didn't want to do that.
komao carrying zabu aww
so now that ichiya is controlling matakara's body, matakara is stuck with his darkness. notably, the best friend stone lies in there, broken. he sits in the corner of his laundromat room, the place he's had to stay since his brother went to juvie
ofc these two muscled bitches can only make up by fighting
divorced dad senya got his wife back by being real for once
the only thing stronger than ichiya's pettiness--matakara's lack of self worth
ope well the only thing stronger than matakara's lack of self worth is ara's delusional love for mahoro ig
wow his wish change did not last for long lol
ohhh matakara shoving ara away, he believes everyone from his past makes him weaker "I don't need my friends, or my brother, or even you!"
matakara is deathly afraid of being left alone. it happened with ara, it happened with his brother, so now he wants to sever all his relationships so he can't be hurt again
literally shoving the love of friendship into matakara's face so he can't reject it, healing the inner child so afraid of loneliness
matakara finally having his investment in ara acknowledged and reciprocated
senya's unfinished business is done, he can ascend to heaven with his boyfie
i KNEW that stamp was gonna be for matakara. also stamping it in blood hell yeah
matakara I love youuuu
ahh a very sk8-type ending montage
MATAKARA YOUR BESTIES LOVE YOU
i'm at least glad mahoro is still ignoring the fact ara exists
did shindo wear fake boobs and heels just to sneak back into NG 💀 he's fulfilling his true calling in life: to be the drama member of an idol group
lmaooo catboy doing his best sales
ara and matakara making gyoza again 😭
matakara's brother is alive phew
lmaoooo the ending
well, I guess the ending would keep it open for a potential S2, if that were to ever happen. good episode with excellent animation, even though it didn't quite fulfill all of my desires for this show. would've liked mahoro to have a more active role in all this. this show also felt a bit limited by runtime and writing at times, but overall it was a pretty enjoyable experience with charming characters (who I would've liked to learn more about, tbh). matakara and ara's fight was amazing. I wanted more ichiya and senya than we got but I'm glad they resolved their issues too. I'm kinda curious as to what happened with ichiya after the fight. is he also in the bullet with senya, did he pass on, or is he in his own bullet? if it's the first option, I need a spinoff of their stupid domestic lives inside their separate spirit world

Companionship XP Part 31- Important Conversations
18+ Kaminari Denki x fem!reader quirkless, streamer au
Summary: The decision to start a youtube channel was a spur of the moment thing. Sure you’d watched your friends have great success with their own channels, but when you uploaded your first video playing Genshin you never would have guessed it would take off the way it did. You’re perfectly content with the community you’ve built but if there’s one thing you’ve been missing, it’s someone to co-op with. When Mina offers to link you up with one of her old friends with his own channel, you just hope he won’t be too obnoxious. Enter Kaminari Denki. He’s definitely obnoxious, but he’s also so much more.
Masterlist Help Lulu <3
Tumblr media
Part of you knows that meeting up with Shindo may be a bad idea. But being with Denki and taking time away has shown you just how dysfunctional things with Yo have been since your break up.
Heck, you know you and Yo were certainly dysfunctional in your relationship but you didn’t realize just how much so until being with Denki. You constantly felt like you had to prove your worth with Shindo, especially once he started his youtube channel. You’re not sure there’s one moment you can point to in you and Yo’s relationship where you felt well and truly adored. Yet that’s how Denki has made you feel every day.
As you finish up your shift you scan the cafe until you spot Yo, sitting at a table waiting for you as he takes a picture of his coffee. You roll your eyes. It amazes you sometimes how different the two of you have become. You thrive off your ability to fade into the crowd and enjoy life without an audience as soon as you end a stream. Yo wants every single moment of his life documented and posted for an adoring public. It’s not much longer after that when your shift ends so you remove your apron, hand it off to the coworker taking over for you, and walk over to join your ex at his table. It’s a good distance away from everyone else so you should still have privacy and the freedom to talk.
“Thank you for finally talking with me, I’ve missed you babe,” Shindo grins and immediately you make a face.
“You have to stop calling me that,” you sigh.
“Why? Don’t tell me it bothers your new boyfriend. Listen if he’s that insecure-”
“It bothers me, asshole. When did you become such a fountain of unasked for dating advice?”
Shindo seems genuinely taken aback by the fact you’re pushing back at what he says. Sure you gave as good as you got during fights over the course of your relationship, but once the two of you had committed to being friends and letting go of the hurt the breakup had caused, you’d held yourself back a lot.
“You’re being really hostile right now. I thought we agreed we would avoid this after we broke up,” Shindo tells you and god he sounds stern when he says it. Is he lecturing you? Does he think he has the moral high ground here? He does look hurt after a moment though and he’s not entirely wrong, so you force yourself to take a deep, steadying breath.
“Look, I didn’t come here to fight with you. But we seriously need to work on boundaries. Publicly shipping me with people you know I’m not interested in, showing up at my work with cameras, inserting yourself into my dating life. It’s too much. Way too much. It was driving me fucking nuts,” you sigh.
“I was just trying to be a good friend. I had no idea that would be an issue for you,” Shindo scoffs, leaning back in his chair with a roll of his eyes.
“That’s just it. We’re not friends.”
“Excuse me?”
“We’re not! We’re something… Something weird and toxic just shy of friends because I genuinely fucking resent the way you treated me before and after we broke up. You’re… kind of awful and I think I just said that stuff about us staying friends when we broke up because I already missed you but it’s just… not a good friendship and frankly I don’t think I want it anymore.”
It feels like the air’s been sucked from the room by the end of your confession. You feel lighter having finally voiced your thoughts but it’s still a weird crossroads to be at. Shindo has been part of your life for years and years now. The idea of letting him go is kind of daunting, but it’s also so incredibly freeing.
“So… what? This is it? Friendship done?”
“Yea… Yea I think so. I hope one day that we can actually be real friends. That day just would have to be far, far in the future.”
On that final note you rise, giving him one final nod and wave before turning to leave the coffee shop. You nearly bump into someone hanging relatively close to the door and your table. They provide a quick apology, looking between you and the table you’d just vacated, before giving one last apology and leaving. It’s odd but you shrug it off. Nothing can really sour your mood anyway. With Yo and the shadow of your former relationship with him finally off your back, you make your way back home, knowing you’ve got a Genshin date with your new boyfriend waiting there for you.
A/N: Ahhhhhhh it's finally done. Sorry again for the wait y'all. I am happy with the end result though. Yo and reader's entire post-breakup dynamic but this part in particular are inspired by the song I'm Trying (Not Friends) by Maisie Peters

18th Chopin Piano Competition: Stage 3
Check out the competition masterpost for more info. Here's @wobster109's, who's also commenting on the competition, masterpost (and it's usually evening sessions which I am missing).
Repertoire
In short, all participants must present: a sonata (or a set of preludes) and one set of mazurkas.
Competitors
There are 23 competitors performing on Oct 14th–Oct 16th. According to the drawn order of performances, Szymon Nehring (Poland) will be the first participant.
My posts
These may come up a bit later than I was posting them previosuly, because I’ll be watching the competition live (!), in Warsaw Phillharmonic, and of course won’t be posting here during the sessions.
Update: so if you want to read more than my impressions, actually check out @wobster109's posts.
Oct 14th, Morning

Results
My picks (apart from the Poles, by default):
Leonora Armellini
Alexander Gadjiev
Avery Gagliano
Hyuk Lee
Kyohei Sorita
The jury qualified 12 pianists:
Ms Leonora Armellini, Italy
Mr J J Jun Li Bui, Canada
Mr Alexander Gadjiev, Italy/Slovenia
Mr Martin Garcia Garcia, Spain
Ms Eva Gevorgyan, Russia/Armenia
Ms Aimi Kobayashi, Japan
Mr Jakub Kuszlik, Poland
Mr Hyuk Lee, South Korea
Mr Bruce (Xiaoyu) Liu, Canada
Mr Kamil Pacholec, Poland
Mr Hao Rao, China
Mr Kyohei Sorita, Japan
(PR Radio: no Khozyainov... he by his whole self showed us he wants to be a chopinist, a big loser of the competition...)
Trivia
PR 2 will host a two-hour sum-up on Sunday, which I'll try to sum up (hehe) for you.
12 pianists; who they miss: P. Alexewicz, S. Nehring... (better to try and lose than not try); N. Khozyainov, M. Shindo. M. Candotti, A. Gagliano, S-Y. Kim
Also: it's good to try on Chopin's competition again. (Thinking abt Nehring, and maybe Alexewicz?)
A very interesting photo of the jury! A nice quote from Rafał Blechacz' fb, who quoted his professor, K. Popova-Zydroń before his own competition: "The only real loser is the one who loses his love for music".
A great group of colourful pianists in the finals. Every personality is different! (saying no to the myth of the competition that goes for averageness) Also the pianists are different in their abilities, the best out of the entire generation [I know, this sentence doesn't make sense]
11 days, 100+ hours, 150+ recitals up to now.
A question: did they change their minds about some pianist or another? Yup, sometimes bc they got to know the pianist's ideas better (N. Khozyanov, J. Kuszlik), sometimes the pianists had better or worse recitals (M. Candotti). All in all, lots of fluctuations, in the speakers' opinions.
Lots of pianists were choosing brillante style, which isn't really popular (Rondo à la Mazur, variations op. 5 and 12...)
N. Khozyainov: he really knows Chopin, and it helps him playing, choosing his recitals' pieces and layout. Fugue! The ending of Barcarolle! Maybe a bit too much in Sonata? (An academic 'vivisection') Maybe ghostly Mazurkas? (A.k.a. we should ask the jury, but can't rn, so we're wondering why) he did a lot pf contrapuncts
A discussion about the pianists, who become more and more international.
L. Armellini: (interview) she needed to save her energy during the sonata, esp. 2nd movement; loves Mazurkas. | Has a chance to get the mazurkas prize. Great Polonaise-Fantasy (lots of allusions-only to the polonaiseness), great Mazurkas op. 41 (which is difficult). She was in the competition 11 years ago, maybe the audience award once more.
Mazurkas, Polonaise and Sonata prizes have been already decided by the jury (!)
J J Jun Li Bui (Dand Thai Son's student) Rondo à la Mazur: very singing, bird-like ;) Sonata: one of the best interpretation; second theme in the first part was just great, dolcissimo... And a few other places that I didn't catch (He concentrated for a long while before the sonata). Great Mazurkas, very interesting. Mazurkas and/or sonata prize candidate. (And he's 17!) A "piano poet", "he turns everything into gold".
A. Gadjiev: stage 2 was better? Quite unpredictable, but in a good way, lots of (controlled) imagination. Great Polonaise-Fantasy, with chiaroscuro. He knows why he plays sharply sometimes. He has his own vision of Chopin's music, very persuasive (consequential or not?) You may not accept some of his images, but accept him as a pianist. (Here peans abt the sonata)
Martín García García: no scruples? (He's liked by the audience though, he's so positive!) Finals (f minor, played also by Gadjiev) are gonna be interesting. One of the speakers though 2nd stage is gonna be a happening 😅 A good sonata. (I kinda missed it, but there was a lot of good stuff. Played kinda like Pogorelić, I think. And great, cantabile cantilene (and yes, he also sang to himself during the performance)) Programme: three different (!) preludes before the sonata, without any connections. The speakers have serious problems about connecting the pieces' setup. (From the interview: sonata complemented by other pieces. How to play Mazurkas? Enjoy yourself 😉 he actually recognizes ornaments and accents on 2 that are also in Spanish folk dances. He chose the preludes, bc these are the ones that his girlfriend likes the most.) A bit trivialised Scherzo.
Eva Gevorgyan: she's prepared very well. A great talent. Very mature Fantasy. It's her first "mature" competition and she said somewhere that she decided to take part in it "inbetween", just dropping in to Warsaw (but also it's a bit coquettish, she managed to play the difficult Fantasy so well). Not really original Mazurkas, very good Sonata.
A. Kobayashi: preludes! She's got lots of sharp edges? Good technique. Lots of interesting details, changes of facture.
(preludes or sonata? Can preludes replace a sonata? The speakers believe not really. Once upon a time the rules stated that the pianist needed to play a few preludes in spe, and a sonata. Also, "a boring sonata isn't as boring as boring preludes". 🙃)
K. Pacholec: a good pianist, a bit less in stage 3.
J. Kuszlik: the best prepared Pole in stage 3(?).
B. Liu: all the reasons why he should win ;)
Repertoire
Sonata in B flat minor, Op. 35 or Sonata in B minor, Op. 58 or all Preludes, Op. 28.
The exposition in the  first movement of the B minor Sonata should not be repeated; repetition of the first movement of the B flat minor Sonata is optional.
a full set of Mazurkas from one of the following opuses:
17, 24, 30, 33, 41, 50, 56, 59
Mazurkas must be played in the order they are numbered in the opus. In the case of opuses 33 and 41the following numbering applies:
op. 33:
in G sharp minor No. 1
in C major No. 2
in D major No. 3
in B minor No. 4
op. 41:
in E minor No. 1
in B major No. 2
in A flat major No. 3
in C sharp minor No. 4
any other piece or pieces by Fryderyk Chopin (if the hitherto performed repertoire does not achieve the minimum performing time indicated below).
Performing time in the third stage: 45–55 minutes.
The pieces may be performed in any order (except the Mazurkas and the Preludes.)
Should the contestant overrun the time limit, the Jury may stop his/her performance.

Kaname: And Koya-kun says that he watched your Shampoo CM.
Kirishima: Tell him that he was really dashin’! And help me ask him how he made his eyes sparkle like that.
Kaname: —Yeah, see you.
Kirishima: Ah, he hung up?
Kaname: Kyosuke-kun and Hikaru-kun are going to the Concert on the 24th. Tell him yourself then.
Kirishima: For real?
Shindo: What an unusual crowd is going to be gathering.
Kaname: Seems like they’re going because Tsuduki-san got the green light to gather references there.
Kujo: I see. So he contacted you because he knew that we were the one of their backers?
Kaname: Yup.
Miyase: Oh! I’ve just thought of something good.
Kirishima: What is it?
Miyase: How about we invite them to the party since we’re all going to be there?
Kujo: Brilliant.
Miyase: Do you agree to it too?
Kaname: …I don’t mind; not particularly, anyway.
Miyase: I’ll do my best to whip up all the food then.
Shindo: Looks like this we’re having another unnecessarily lively Christmas again this year.

MC: (Phew…we ended up getting off late again.)
When I speed-walked to the Station——
???: Oooooi, Rei! Get on in!
Rei: (Hm?)
I turned around upon being called, noticing a familiar face waving from behind an open window of a car, stopped by the roadside.

Kirishima: Is it cold in here?
Rei: Nope, it’s warm.
Kirishima: I see.
Rei: Thank you so much.
Rei: It’ll be a great help if you could send me all the way back, but are you sure about this?
Kirishima: I was just on my way back from running an errand for Kujo-san, and I was just in the mood to go for a drive.
Rei: Sorry about this…I’m really beat to be honest, so thank you.
Kirishima: That’s good then. I’ve got something I wanna talk to you about too, so nice timing!
Rei: What about…?
Kirishima: We’ll be holding a Christmas Banquet on the 25th so Kujo-san wanted to extend an invitation to you too!
Rei: A Christmas Banquet…
Kirishima: Could it be that you’ve already made plans?
Rei: Rather than plans, I suppose it can be called work…in a sense, but that’s how it is.
Rei: I’m really glad to be invited, but…
Kirishima: I see…So you’re busy.
Rei: (Ahhh, my heart hurts when I see him so disappointed like a kicked puppy…!)
Rei: I apologise. Can I put my invitation tentative or will that be an inconvenience?
Kirishima: You can just take as long as you need. Even if you barely make it on the day itself.
Kirishima: Miyase’s all hyped up making tons of food.
Rei: I want to eat his cooking!
Kirishima: Don’t push yourself too hard at work, okay? I hope you come to the party.
Rei: Yes! Thank you so much!
Rei: You too, Kirishima-san! Be sure not to catch a cold or anything like that!
Kirishima: ‘Course! I’d only make Kujo-san worry if I’m not healthy during Christmas!
Rei: (Seems like everything and everyone are already in Christmas-mood except us down in the NCD.)

⋆⋅☆ Investigation Planning Headquarters ☆⋅⋆
It was only on the next day, that the Investigation took a big step forward.
Imaoji: Seki-san, has that information been checked over?
Seki: Yes.
Seki: Kurisu bought drugs from the dealer in Club R and used it before continuing with his night life.
Seki: That’s why we’ll call him out on his way back and intercept him then.
Seki: That’s the plan we’ve come up with after all the prior investigations we’ve carried out.
But the new information from his Ace was that, “Kurisu didn’t do drugs at all when he was out enjoying his night life”. Therefore——
Yui: Then, why was he buying all those on a schedule…?
Seki: That’s because…
─────────────────────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
——A few days ago.
⋆⋅☆ Concert Hall ☆⋅⋆
Makoto: ——I see. So, there’s a difference in practicing in a Hall and in a Studio.
Kurisu: Yes! I’d get even more into it whenever I practice in a hall!
Kurisu: The sound’s different, you see. For example, the violin. Are you aware of this, perhaps?
Kurisu: It’s sound like mm~♪in a studio, but nnnn~~♪in a Hall.
Makoto: ——I apologize. Amateurs like me can’t tell between such subtle differences.
Kurisu: Ahaha! It’s all OK, all’s good♪Because I’ll show you how different they are now!
Makoto: (He’s someone who’s always full of energy, but he seems to be way more excited than usual today.)
Makoto: (…Actually, his eyes seem to be sparkling strangely…)
Kurisu: Now, my lovely Orchestra! Are all of you ready!?
Kurisu: Let us descend into the lovely world of music!
Seki: ——Pardon me.
Kurisu: !?
Makoto: You guys…
The Orchestra members all looked uneasy as a buzz filled the air at sudden entrance of the Outsiders. Kurisu’s face paled as a sheet as Seki questioned him.
Seki: Kurisu-san, you’re under suspicion of possession and usage of Illegal Drugs.
Seki: ——According to our Information, you use dangerous drugs whenever you do music, more often than not.
Makoto: ——!
Seki: Could I ask of you to cooperate with our Investigation?
Kurisu: …I see~ Alright. I’ll cooperate with you.
Rei: Then, may I check your personal belongings?
Kurisu: What you’re looking for is over here.
It looked as if a lightbulb had clicked in Kurisu’s head as he opened something that resembled a Conducting Baton’s Case——
Aoyama & Yui: ——!
A bucket’s worth of white powder fell from within.
——And now, back to reality.
Makoto: I’m with the NCD right now. I’ve also gotten arrested.
Kyosuke: “ARRESTED——!?”
─────────────────────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
⋆⋅☆ Investigation Planning Department ☆⋅⋆
Makoto: I’ll contact you again once I’ve been released.
Aoyama: Released…?
Makoto only calmly sipped at his coffee after he ended his call.
Rei: Makoto-san…please don’t say things like that; It’ll only invite more misunderstandings.
Rei: We only wanted to ask you some questions.
Makoto: I just wanted to try using the word “release” in relevance to my current situation.
Makoto: I just thought that I’d never have another chance to do so in the future if I didn’t take the opportunity now, when it presented itself.
Man: Ahaha…
Seiya, the Concert Master who seated beside him, only laughed bitterly at that.
Apparently, it looks like the Concert Master was responsible for “Rounding everything up” when it came to anything concerning the Orchestra. You could say that he’s a Conductor-player, if anything.
Seiya: Uhm…So, how long do we have to stay cooped up in here, exactly?
Aoyama: We’ve already heard whatever you have to say, so you’re free to leave.
Seki: Thank you so much for cooperating with us.
Rei: Thank you so much!
Seiya: Ahh, is that so. That’s great to hear…Everyone in the Orchestra’s really worried.
Rei: (Oh, that’s right. Their Conductor was suddenly arrested and taken away in the middle of their practice, so they must have been pretty shaken up about it.)
Makoto: It doesn’t look like I can gather the material I need in this situation.
Seiya: You must have it rough too, Sensei. I’ve got to think of something else, now that I’ve lost my Conductor…
Seki: You have my deepest condolences.
Seiya: Thank you…Actually, I’ve been thinking about this for quite a long time now, but…
All Three: ?
Seiya: All the guys down in the NCD look astonishingly dashing.
Aoyama & Seki: Wha——
Rei: (That’s what caught his attention!?)
Seiya: Man, I thought that I’d have gotten used to being around such good men after having spent every day seeing Kurisu-san around recently.
Seiya: But Seki-san and Aoyama-san both have a manliness about them that would make even top Kurisu-san’s own.
Seiya: I’m really, REALLY, in the mood to play a Violin now! I feel like this will make for a really nice tune!
Seki: R-Right…
Rei: (I wonder if all musicians are all that emotionally sensitive…)
Yui: ——Seki-san. About Kurisu, Imaoji-kun’s Investigation seems to be going smoothly in that field.
Seki: I see, that’s good——
Seiya: PINK HAIR!? AND NOT TO MENTION, ANOTHER DASHING ONE!?
Yui: Huh…?
Seiya: HA!? I apologize for being so loud.
Rei: (Seiya-san…)
Makoto: (How interestingly curious…)
Seiya: No— Really, all the beauties are being gathered here, in one place.
Seiya: So good, that I’m almost tempted to ask you to take Kurisu’s place as the Conductor to draw in the same crowd that his good looks would have inevitably drawn.
Rei: (Just for that reason…?)
Yui: What in the world is he talking about…?
Makoto: ——I see.
Rei: Huh?
Makoto: The NCD suddenly turning into Orchestra Conductors? Now… that’s interesting.
─────────────────────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
⋆⋅☆ Investigation Planning Department ☆⋅⋆
Makoto: ————
Aoyama: (……? I don’t know why, but I feel like…he’s staring an awful lot at me…?)
Makoto: (The Narc’s Ace, Aoyama Itsuki.)
Makoto: (——If he were to be the Replacement Conductor…)
─────────────────────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
Aoyama: ——Stop. I’ve already repeated myself countless of times, but this isn’t getting any better. Is it that difficult?
Aoyama: I’ll play the Violin so listen well to how I do it.
Aoyama: ——♪——♪♪♪——♪♪——
Player: ……! He’s way better than me! I’ve just lost all my confidence!!
Aoyama: Huh…?
Player: Rather, normal people like us cannot just manage to do everything like you high-spec people do on the drop of the hat!
Aoyama: Yes, I do understand that I’m on a different level from the average joe. Therefore, it was in my intention to do this properly and stand as everyone’s equal here.
Aoyama: How about you first tell me what you’re able to do? …Wait, what can you do?
Player: There it is; that’s what I was talking about.
Aoyama: ……?
─────────────────────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
Makoto: (…That didn’t turn out very interesting.)
Makoto: (Since he’s an Ace, he might be much more suited to be the Concert Master than a mere Conductor.)
Aoyama: (Why is he staring so intently at me with such a poker face?)
Rei: (Makoto-san…?)
Makoto: (Next will be him…)
Seki: ……?
Makoto: (The reliable Section Chief of the NCD, Seki Daisuke——…)
─────────────────────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
Seki: ——Yes, everyone’s doing brilliant.
Seki: Especially the Violins, it was a pleasantly beautiful sound.
CRAAASH!!
Seki: !?
Percussionist: WHOA!? ALL THE VIOLINNISTS HAVE FALLEN PREY TO THE CONDUCTOR’S SUGAR-SWEET WORDS!
Seki: Eh…?
Woodwind Player: Hey…you’ve…got to be…kidding…Even the guys are down for the count!?
Brass Player: THE CONDUCTOR’S WAY TOO HANDSOME, I CAN’T CONCENTRATE AT ALL!!!!
─────────────────────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
Makoto: (…Maybe it’s because I read the original work of the Love-comedy movie that Kyosuke’s going to be appearing in; my imagination seems to be oddly geared in that direction of things, for some reason…)
Seki: Uhm…?
Makoto: (He’s up next, I guess.)
Yui: ……?
Makoto: (The NCD’s most Inquisitive and talented brain when it comes to Research, Yui Kotaro——…)
─────────────────────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
Yui: No, all wrong, that’s not it! Violins! You’re causing Arteriosclerosis with that!
Yui: More——! We need more, if we’re going to make for a nightfilled with bloodshed!
Yui: Cymbals! More violent actions! Treat is as if you’re having Sympathetic Nerve Reactions!!
Player: W-What is he talking about!?
Player: He’s super, duper, hard to understand…!!
─────────────────────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
Makoto: ——Pft!
Yui: ! What’s with him?
Rei: Um, Makoto-san? Is everything alright there?
Makoto: I had thought that it’d be interesting to see all of you NCD people as Replacement Conductors, but——
Makoto: I think that’s impossible, after all.
─────────────────────────⋅…⋆⋅☆
⋆⋅☆ Investigation Planning Department ☆⋅⋆
Seiya: Of course, it was just a little joke of mine.
Seiya: To an Orchestra, a Conductor is akin to their heart, or a Piero, at times.
Seiya: It’s precisely because we’re not high-leveled individuals that we can’t just simply pass the reigns over any Conductor just on the drop of a hat like that.
Yui: I won’t do it even if you asked.
Seki: Yui.
Yui: …Sorry.
Seiya: Haha. Looks like I’m the only one with a long history running, as things are looking out to be.
Seiya: I was also introduced to other people, so don’t worry about it.
Makoto: Does that mean that I can still continue gathering the data I require?
Seiya: Of course, if that is what you wish.
Makoto: That’ll be a great help. I’ll be in your care again.
Seiya: I suppose this must also be some sort of fate. Please come by to watch us on the 24th, if you’re free.
Yui: A Orchestra Concert on Christmas Eve?
Aoyama: That doesn’t sound bad at all.
Rei: Now that things have come down to this, I’m kind of interested in seeing how the performance turns out.
Seki: We’d gladly attend once the case with Kurisu-san calms down. We’ll be supporting you.

Kaname: ——Big sister?
Rei: Oh, Kaname-kun? Hello.
Kaname: Are you on the way home now?
Rei: Yup. You too?
Kaname: I’m on my way back from the Bookstore. I checked where this particular book was stocked and that was the only Bookstore that had it.
Rei: I see. What a coincidence.
Kaname: ————
Rei: ? What’s wrong?
Kaname: …Do you have some time next weekend, big sister? It doesn’t matter even if you’re only free in the night.

In the s3 ending, after the sinister picture of Sibyl and Akane overlapping, we see the screen with a repeated list of biometric data of a number of people:-
Takumi Yonehara*; Atsushi Shindo*; Anne Oignies; Bazarov (ep 1, Bazarov Trsikov, age 50); Lee Aki*; Asahi Rick Fellows*; Haruki Kamiya* (Haruki Enomiya); Tetsuya Sasakawa; Kouzyo Tsuchiya*; Yatsumata (ep 1, Hitoshi Yatsumata, age 68)
Going by the rest of the list, this seems like a roster of people whose cases our inspectors are involved with victims mainly, but minor relation to the foxes(ie not the big bifrost or others).
Meaning also, Anne Oigines is in danger.
Sasagawa is the only non-victim on the list except that he was the fox inspector given off to foreign affairs. Also Bazarov was the one attacking but he was also a victim of sorts in the being scammed manner and should have been in the victim section as to not create trouble.
Right after this, we get Kogami on one side(with full profile) and Karina, Hercules and Azusawa on the other side:
Tumblr media
Hopefully we get more of Kogami...sigh...
Also, Karina, and Hercules may still have more left to be seen of.
This might also indicate we will focus on a limited set of cases and the remaining 4 episodes may focus more on Atsushi Shindo, our guys and the foxes and Bifrost and maybe, other minor groups(in OP) who may not be that relevant as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok. Still a lot for 4 more episodes.
I don’t think the profiles are supposed to be accurate as some details didn’t match for Yatsumata and Bazarov(we got their full profiles) and it has typos:- Saskawa is supposed to be written Sasagawa. Another, should have been Haruki Enomiya but is named Haruki Kamiya. So, another typo? His name is written 榎宮 春木. The 榎宮 surname is usually Enomiya, and the kanji 榎 can be read as ka as well.
Also, the updated character profile for Azusawa Koichi states he is 46...and I don’t know why I just said that.
That Shindo Atsushi commited suicide after killing Kei’s brother and had a fox card fits somewhere with Azusawa’s modus operandi of getting people to kill themselves
Tumblr media
and appear accidental but it seems so simple a solution.

BNHA Rewatch: Episode 56 “RUSH”
mysterylover123
aka The one where Aoyama does something.
Tumblr media
Shindo is trying to remind us that he’s still in this arc. Well, you still look like the fusion of my two best boys so I forgive you for splitting up Class 1-A. Conditionally.
Tumblr media
BTW I think Nakagame has a thing for him and I’m here for it.
Tumblr media
Oh great more of this guy.
Tumblr media
THIS IS WHY PEOPLE ALWAYS SHIT TALK YOU
Tumblr media
Seiji actually did have a plan. Ugh I hate watching this again.
Tumblr media
Kaccan can lay traps too you guys!
Tumblr media
Kaminari standing up for Kacchan and owning the crap out of Seiji with a good plan? I swear my fealty to you for here and all time, you spiky haired Pikachu.
Tumblr media
“This is why everyone thinks you’re an asshole, dude!” What Bakugou hears: “This is why villains kidnapped you and you ended the symbol of peace, you useless weak loser.”
Tumblr media
Oof. That lip lick. I don’t often hit on Bakugou because he’s usually in too much pain to be attractive, but day-um.
Tumblr media
The episode then gifts us with a Todomomo. Yay!
Tumblr media
I’M SO JEALOUS OF SERO RIGHT NOW.
Tumblr media
Deku of course comes up with an amazing plan for him, Uraraka and Sero to all pass.
Tumblr media
Deku shows his character development here by refusing to listen to this guy’s pleas to just let him win. My boy has grown ya’ll. He’s no longer willing to let himself hurt just so someone else can benefit (at least until the end of the Internship arc when he’s totally willing to do that again.)
Tumblr media
Aww Aoyama and Iida bonding! The moment is coming.
Tumblr media
Iida has grown so much from the guy who left Uraraka to get crushed by the villain in  the Entrance Exam.
Tumblr media
We’re then gifted with the Wonder Duo’s teams meeting up to celebrate and a blessed BKDK moment I’ll comment on later.
Tumblr media
Now we’re blessed with a Kamijirou teasing scene too. Though I do wanna give Jiro a little smack for this. I mean, Kaminari was awesome here! He saved Kacchan’s ass and Kiris’ too! Respect him girl!
Tumblr media
Todoroki’s love interests are both looking at him very softly.
Tumblr media
Aoyama and Iida are such a strange team-up, but honestly the episode just sells it.
Tumblr media
Baby Aoyama! So precious! Getting Culture Fest Arc feels…Chapter 169 feels. Damn Season 4’s gonna wreck me.
Tumblr media
I’m tearing’ up man! (And to think this is a very great deal due to Deku’s influence on the class, and how he’s inspired the “save others” side of the coin. I love best boy so much.)
Tumblr media
Class 1-A! Never underestimate them. They’ve got Deku and Kacchan, and everyone they’ve inspired. They win right there.
Tumblr media
Shocking that Tokoyami was one of the stragglers, honestly.
Tumblr media
Warp refraction OMG. Tooru is now officially one of the most OP Class 1-A members. She and Ojiro were chilling together again too. Another ship!
Tumblr media
I WANT A THUMBS UP FROM MINA NEXT TIME I HAVE TEST ANXIETY. More acid veil!
Tumblr media
BTW why did Toga decide to pass the first round at all when she’d already gotten Deku’s blood?
Tumblr media
“There were that many left?” IKR Aizawa?
Tumblr media
Iida and Aoyama pass last in the very last seconds of the test. That makes me smile. Go Iida!
Tumblr media
Oh and now rescue exercises too.
Episode 56 is a nice, finally, end to the first phase of the PLE. I honestly feel like the anime drags this part of the arc out a lot more than the manga, and finally wrapping it up in one fell swoop was a long time coming. It marks an uptick in the momentum of the arc, and a welcome one. Part 2 is much shorter (random filler episode aside) and I’m looking forward to getting through it. The PLE arc is not a favorite of mine, but what comes before and after is worth it.
BKDK CORNER:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“You made that borrowed power your own, I see.” “Did Kacchan just….compliment me?!?!” OMG this scene is freaking adorable. Our lovely duo has grown so much. Deku is so cool. Kacchan knows. Holy Shit. How Many episodes to go? Holy Crap, only 3 to go. It’s almost here.
BEST GIRL OF THE EP: I’m gonna give the MVP award for the ep to Mina.
RANKER: Most Horrifying Quirks in BNHA (in terms of what they can do to you).
5 Outburst (Ms Joke)
4 Mushroom (Kinoko Komori)
3 Overhaul (Kai Chisaki)
2 Decay (Tomura Shigaraki)
1 Meatball (Seiji Shishikura)

Peony Pink and Cherry Blossom Tea Ch 6: Can We Talk
Summary: Things go wrong in the feelings department in the worst way
Relationships: Todoroki Shouto/Uraraka Ochako; past Shindo You/Uraraka Ochako; background Tokage Setsuna/Jirou Kyoka
Rating: T
Warnings/Notes: um. Angst and I’m sorry about that. Pls don’t hate Yui
“Hey there,” someone says from behind her. “That’s… an interesting thing your doing to our weights.”
Uraraka Ochako, fifteen years old, first year student of Ketsubutsu High’s general studies department, looks guiltily from the floating set of weights to the owner of the voice.
Her eyes meet dark hair, all messed up but in a nice way, like he just rolled out of bed. A handsome face with a sharp jaw, a little dirty and scratched from a scuffle. His gym clothes are all soaked with sweat and burnt and torn to shreds at different areas. He smells like he rolled around a barbeque pit, making her wonder what the heck are these hero course students doing, killing themselves in training?
“Oh,” she says in embarrassment, releasing her quirk on the weights all at once. They fall noisily on the concrete floor, making an ugly sound that causes both of them to flinch. “Yeah, sorry. Am I allowed here? If I’m not, can you pretend that this didn’t happen? Sorry, I got bored, and my friends--”
He raises two pretty eyebrows at her, lets one side of his mouth curl up in interest. “You got bored waiting for your friends, so you started floating weights around? Most girls just play on their phones or text, or something,” he says with amusement.
She shrugs and scratches the back of her head. “I would, believe me, but--”
Her phone is an ancient thing with a huge line in the middle of the screen that dies when she uses it for more than fifteen minutes. It’s at ten percent right now, and she left her charger at home, and she really didn’t want to walk the 2 kilometers to her tiny apartment in the darkening city without a working phone.
She doesn’t want to explain the pathetic story of her phone and poverty, though, so she stammers out, “Much more interestin’ usin’ my quirk than playin’ Candy Crush, that’s fer sure.”
He guffaws, and she sees a row of perfect, mesmerizing white teeth. “Well, you’re right about that,” he says. “You’re also right about you not being allowed here. This place is technically for hero course students only.”
She flinches. “Um… okay… so about the pretending part--”
He tilts his head, a smile that’s both playful and devious on his lips. “You asking me to be an accomplice, Ms. General Studies?”
On the surface, that easygoing smile is telling her that it’s okay to say yes. But Ochako finds something a little disconcerting under that facade of his--she knows he’s plotting something under that pretty boy face of his, but what?
She stares dumbly at him, not really sure what to do, until he laughs and breaks the tension. “Don’t worry about it. I didn’t see anything,” he tells her with another easy smile. “Just don’t do it again. You might wreck our equipment with that quirk of yours, ya know?”
She feels her ears turn red. “I’m sorry, I just got surprised. I don’t get to practice my quirk as much as you guys,” she says, picking up the weights one by one, floating the heavier ones in the air. She tries to be gentle with the landing, but partial gravity release is hard. When she releases them, the guy has to run and catch them in one hand.
Muscles in his arm bulge as he does. She bites her lower lip.
She isn’t sure if he notices. He pauses a bit, eyebrow raised. “That’s too bad, ‘cos your quirk is cool. If you went to the heroes course, I think we’d work really great together.”
She blushes further. No-one has ever told her that her quirk was anything other than ‘okay’, because while it’s exceedingly simple compared to others, at least it didn’t make her look weird or smell bad. ‘Cool’ isn’t a term she’s ready to hear. “Thank you,” she says, because she isn’t sure what else to say.
The guy steps closer to her. “I’m not just saying it. I’m serious. You don’t look like you believe me.”
She laughs awkwardly and steps back. “I… I didn’t say that.”
“Here, I’ll prove it to you.” Suddenly her hands are in his, and he’s staring right into her eyes and she’s paralyzed.
She hears her heart pounding wildly in her chest, feels the blood rush from her brain to her heart to her cheeks and the sound is so loud she almost doesn’t understand what the boy tells her next.
“Let’s spar. Right here.”
She freezes. Makes a silly face that makes him laugh out loud.
“I’m serious!” he repeats, dragging her to the sparring area with cushions. She stammers all the way there, even when he somehow gets her to pull off her shoes and stand in front of him, arms akimbo. “It’ll be quick. You try to activate the floaty thing on me, and I’ll try to dodge. Promise, I won’t use my quirk against you or knock you out or anything.”
She gives him another ridiculous look, shakes her head. “Are you sure?”
He smiles lazily at her, and positions herself for combat.
With a smirk, she tosses her uniform blazer aside, rolls up her sleeves, gets into position.
It’s a tough seven minutes, but it ends with the over-enthusiastic boy hooting up the ceiling in excitement, and Ochako collapsing on the mat from sheer exhaustion.
She releases the quirk, and he falls, lands on all fours like it’s no trouble. He helps her up with one pull of a strong arm and asks for her name, as if the thought just came to him then.
What a weirdo, she thinks, and tells him her name.
After that fight, life goes on in General Studies. In between struggling with English and chatting with her friends about the cafes they want to visit after school, Ochako doesn’t think much about him, except in quiet moments where she’s alone and she’s free to squeal and smile and roll over in her bed like an idiot.
Two weeks later, she finds a letter in her locker--a messy scrawl asking to meet with her outside. No signature. Her girl friends squeal at the potential confession. She shrinks at the potential threat.
When she gets there, Shindo Yo, as promised, stands there by himself with just his easy smile and his sincerity. “Uraraka-san, I like you,” he says with an intense look in his pretty dark eyes that makes her melt. He takes both hands in hers again, making sure that her finger-pads don’t make either of them float this time. “Please go out with me.”
She manages to say yes, somehow, despite the fireworks going off in her little brain. The happy smile on his face makes her heart feel full. He holds her hand, fingers intertwined, and takes her home.
When they find out the next day, all her friends squeal and ask how the heck did you manage to get the most popular guy in the hero course to look at you? At the risk of admitting violating school policy, she keeps her mouth shut and her smile consistently mysterious.
Days later, she opens her shoe locker and finds it full of garbage.
 *
Ochako, strangely enough, misses the unsophisticated, garbage-in-your-locker type of bullying in high school. Because at least then she has a concrete, visual evidence of all the nasty shit going on in those evil little minds of theirs. Plus she can make the garbage float above the bullies and make the icky shit drip over their heads. It’s a satisfying stunt she pulled off once, and paid for with a hard shove against her locker, which didn’t make it any less worth it.
Now that she’s all grown-up there’s nothing as solid as garbage that showed their nasty thoughts in striking clarity. Only whispers and dirty looks that just won’t die down. Only these so-called professionals making her wait for too long when she needs to endorse important things about patients, and then blaming her for her slowness when things happen. Only anonymous comments on her (already locked) social media accounts and on the HGH Facebook pages that make not-so-subtle comments about her spending so much time staring into Doctoroki’s eyes that she makes a lot of mistakes at work.
Her HGH ‘parents’ are enraged, of course. Mina especially is always on the verge of throwing hands at anyone who so much as squints in Ochako’s direction. Eijiro, the more rational parent, has been coaching her to tell the nursing supervisor about the goings-on, but how is she going to do that when one of them told her to keep her relationship from affecting her work?
Also! How can her ‘relationship’ get in the way of work, anyway, when there isn’t much happening in that area? Sure, they make enough public appearances (lunch in the very middle of the cafeteria, facing each other, fifteen minutes max twice that week!) to keep the charade going, but… Doctoroki and her have gone back to being quiet.
It’s not that they’re being cold. They text as often as they can, but things have been insane at work. Shouto needed to back-up Dr. Momo a lot this week. There has also been an increase in villain activity everywhere, which means more wounded civilians and pros to tend to. Ochako herself feels the strain. She replies to him diligently, tries to get a conversation going despite the hour-long gaps in between replies.
It definitely isn’t the same as the nice talk they had over the weekend. She supposes this is why there are articles and articles in girly magazines about how hard it is to date anyone in the medical profession--for them, time is a construct that only serves to tell them how much they haven’t accomplished yet.
But at least this time Shouto seems to be a little less clinical in his texts.
Todoroki Shouto (1434H): Got a case with pedia--trauma, burn injuries, just stabilized. The pro who rescued the child days ago just visited. Midoriya is having his pre-op crying session as we speak.
Todoroki Shouto (1434H): Should I comfort him, or let him be? I feel very out of place just watching him here.
Ochako giggles imagining the scene. Deku-kun doesn’t always need the pre-op sobfest, but in hard cases he does it to focus, and so he doesn’t burst out into tears in the middle of the OR. Or so he says.
Three hours ago, she realizes, as she looks at the timestamps. If the other nurses didn’t make her wait so long and didn’t give her such a hard time during endorsements, she might have been able to reply to him earlier.
She starts to type, sorry, Shouto… you know, im having a hard time with work lately
… and then shakes her head, puffs her cheeks, deletes. No, don’t… Shouto doesn’t need to hear your drama, he doesn’t need more emotional load, he doesn’t have that sort of responsibility for you. This isn’t real. Isn’t real.
Me (1737H): sry! Brought a couple of cases to med ward, took a while!
Me (1738H): i hope u told him he was gonna be okay! deku-kun needs a lot of tlc!!!
Me (1738H): work hard!!! I hope the baby makes it :(
She sighs and drops her phone in her scrubsuit pocket and patiently waits for her ‘tattoo date’ in the hospital lobby.
Her phone vibrates again, and she inhales a bit, hoping that it’s Dr. Tokage telling her that she’s on the way down and they can finally go to Illusion Inks for her next session with Jirou. It’ll be an hour of her being pierced with needles while watching two pretty girls shamelessly flirt while she simmers in mild jealousy, but it’s definitely better than moping about at home and waiting for the next reply from--
  Shindo Yo (1740H): Hi, Uraraka-san!
Shindo Yo (1741H): Busy day at work, I bet (✖╭╮✖) it’s the same for us too
Shindo Yo (1741H): what r u up to?
She stares glumly at the texts. Of course it isn’t Doctoroki. She breathes, asks herself why she’s doing this, but does it anyway.
Me (1742H): I’m on my way out of work, senpai.
Shindo Yo (1743H): wow, ur replying fast to me today! Happy~ O(≧∇≦)O
Shindo Yo (1745H): u must be rly rly pissed at work today huh? lol
Me (1747H): ig
Me (1747H): lots of villain attacks lately. busy
Shindo Yo (1748H): u know it :( we’re trying our best too. Just worked a double shift cos of that. Im beat!
Me (1749H): same
Shindo Yo (1750H): yeah u look like it 〈(゜。゜) gotta do sth bout that
She freezes and narrows her eyes at the text. Wait, don’t tell me--
Me (1751H): senpai. Dont be creepy
Shindo Yo (1752H): waaaah im not
Me (1752H): im callin security
Shindo Yo (1753H): pls dont i promise im not bein creepy!!!
Me (1754H): yes. u. r!!!!
Shindo Yo (1754H): only a little!!! just dont move ok?
From her vantage point in the middle sofa, she immediately looks around the lobby. There are only a few people sitting, waiting, speaking to the receptionist, who all suddenly turn to her with barely-concealed interest in their eyes.
She smells strawberries from behind her. When she turns her head, she gets a faceful of box and strawberry scent. “What the--”
“Whoa, easy,” that familiar voice says with a chuckle. “You really are extra pissed today, huh.”
She gets the box out of her face and gives Shindo Yo a solid glare. “Senpai! What are you doing here?!” she squeaks.
He isn’t wearing his skimpy hero uniform, thank god. He’s in a shirt, a leather jacket and skinny jeans, a lazy smile on his face that would have made her stupid with want in her younger years. He chuckles again and leans forward. No sense of personal space whatsoever, as usual. “Had business here. I’m just waiting for my associate to get to the lobby so we can time out.”
She raises an eyebrow, obviously not believing him. “We?”
“My new agency, remember? We’ve been crazy busy lately, but when we get time we try to see the people we help out on the field.” He moves the box around, as if it’s proof enough of his claims. “I just saw a young lady I rescued from an attack in Naruhata. She gave me an entire box of strawberry mochi. Which is sweet, but unfortunate, seein’ as I don’t really like sweets and all…”
Even though it’s not uncommon for pro heroes to do just that, especially the young ones, Ochako isn’t convinced. “Really. Where is she admitted?”
Shindo rolls his eyes, pulls out a card attached from the box and reads. “Dear Seismic-sama, Thank you for saving my life. Heart eyes. It isn’t much, but please accept my gift! This is my fav snack ever and I hope this makes you happy, exclamation exclamation. Stars and hearts and cute rabbit with hearts for eyes. Love, Luna-chan from room 432.”
He lets her read the card, and she has to admit that the glittery gel ink and the cutesy handwriting makes it look genuine. She stops narrowing her eyes. “Okay. I guess that’s pretty nice, senpai.”
“Right?” he says with a proud little grin. “Am I still creepy, Uraraka-san?”
She puffs her cheeks. “You still are,” she says with a petulant upturn of the nose. “I really thought you were waiting to ambush me! You really gotta be less weird when you text!”
“Haha, fine fine.” He tries to look apologetic, but not really. “So… you alone here? Are you waiting for Todoroki-san, or…”
“Oh… no… he’s busy,” she says. Instinctively, she looks at her phone and sees no messages. She wonders if the surgery is over.
“Hm. Odd.” There’s a little devious glint in his eyes as he says it, one that makes Ochako narrow her eyes at him again like he’s a creep. “What, I’m just saying! Because she told me she’s just finished talking to him, and--”
She? Who she? Also, what would Shindo know about Todoroki anyway? Seriously, why does he care so much about the two of them, when--
“Shindo-senpai. Uraraka-san,” someone says from behind him, making Ochako’s words of protest die in her mouth.
Two people approach from behind them, staring at their conversation as if it’s the strangest thing in the world. Ochako meets Kodai Yui’s raven eyes and glassy skin and aura of gentleness that she’ll never achieve in her lifetime ever. The momentary breathlessness that any normal person gets from staring at her magnifies upon seeing the person next to her.
“Oh… Yui-chan and Todoroki-kun,” Shindo says. Standard friendly smile on his face, a raise of an eyebrow as he glances at Ochako knowingly. “You guys done with your little talk?”
Ochako doesn’t mean to stare, but the way Shouto looks at her in a mildly perturbed manner makes her wonder how shocked her face must look like.
Yui nods. “Our patient is okay. Todoroki-san and Midoriya-san did well.”
The other pro nods, and then sticks his hand out to shake Shouto’s. “So I guess that means I should congratulate you, Doc? Yui-chan was so worried about Tanuki-kun. She was pretty happy knowing that you were on board the case and all, ya know?”
Face not moving the slightest, Shouto nods and takes Shindo’s hand. “Thank you. Seismic-san, right?”
“Nah, you can call me Shindo. Or, senpai. We didn’t go to the same school, but we’re both proper heroes, you and I,” he says, eyes creasing. “Uraraka-san calls me that, so I don’t mind if you do too.”
“Hm,” says Shouto, looking at Ochako curiously.
Ochako stupidly looks down on her hands.
Yui glances at the two of them with an unreadable look before looking at Shindo again. “Senpai, Yoarashi-san might be wondering where we are right now.”
“Ah, you’re right.” Shindo makes a bashful face and bows to the two of them. “Sorry for cutting our conversation off so abruptly, Uraraka-san! I guess we can continue next time, eh?”
“Huh? No, that’s--”
Before she can protest no, we aren’t talking about anything important at all, don’t say misleading things in front of my fake boyfriend, Shindo is already pushing Yui by her shoulders out of the lobby and giving the two of them a small wave of one hand. Soon, they disappear in the elevators, leaving the doctor and the nurse alone.
Shouto blinks once and trains his eyes to hers. “You two seem close,” he says neutrally.
She nods, bites her lower lip. “I knew him from high school.”
My first boyfriend, she wants to say. First person I ever loved. First boy to ever break my heart. Because it’s the truth, a distant one that’s so far away that she should feel nothing significant if she admits them.
Still, she doesn’t. And she wonders why the words don’t come.
“Hm,” Shouto repeats.
There’s something odd going on in his eyes, something very hard to read. Ochako decides that if he were to ask anything at all about Shindo, that she’d tell him everything--how they started and how they ended and how Shindo is weaseling himself back into her life and she’s probably giving him one too many chances to do so by replying to his stupid texts because she’s stupid and lonely and stressed over all the gossip and all the things going on in Shouto’s family that really isn’t any of their faults--basically all that she can’t tell Shouto because heaven knows he’s got too much on his plate as it is, and Shindo seems to like listening to her, but she really wished that it was just Shouto and her and none of this shitty drama--and even though none of this is real, sometimes it feels so real , just like their drive back from Shizuoka, and--
And…
And, Shouto doesn’t say a single word. And… all that senseless drivel dies down her throat. She looks down on her hands again and gives up on that trainwreck of ideas.
Instead, she braces herself and says, “You and Yui-san.”
He blinks. Without a word or a single movement, waits for her to continue.
She inhales as quietly as she can, and speaks again. “I didn’t know you guys spoke too,” she manages, without any incriminating lilts to her tone. Or so she hopes. “I mean… I’m not, you know--I’m just a little bit surprised, I didn’t know she was the pro you were talking about earlier--”
Ochako do you really sound as much as a jealous bitch as you do in your head?! You’re just stating cold hard facts, so don’t be weird about this. Don’t be stupid.
Shouto speaks, after a beat of loaded silence. “I should have texted you about her, I suppose,” he says quietly. “She went to us right before the surgery to make sure that--”
“Paging Dr. Todoroki to ER. Dr. Todoroki, to ER now. Dr. Todoroki--”
They look up the ceiling, then at each other, and down on the ground simultaneously. Open their mouths at the same time, wordlessly clamp them shut as if they’re each other’s awkward, awkward mirrors.
Shouto exhales quietly, and says, “I should go. That might be Dr. Aizawa looking for me. I heard there’s been another Nomu attack nearby.”
Ochako nods. She tries to give a bright smile. “Okay. Do your best, Todoroki-kun.”
“Okay. Be careful going home, Uraraka.” He looks down on her hands, that odd look never leaving. Ochako carefully stares at his mouth, waits for the usual smile he gives her before they part ways.
It doesn’t come. Soon she watches his broad back disappear as he goes past the doors to the ER.
Later, she realizes that she’s still holding the box that Shindo left behind. For Seismic-sama, the card reads, clearly visible to the naked eye.
She wants to shove her face repeatedly into the stupid mochi.

The bothersome feelings of that odd encounter don’t leave her, not even when Setsuna eventually makes it to the lobby and asks her why she looks like she looks like Dr. Shiozaki after talking to an atheist. She manages not to say a lot of how she feels on the way to Illusion Ink, but eventually caves to the heavy interrogation when Kyoka starts working on her tattoo again.
(It’s really hard to be dishonest while a sharp needle is drawing lines on the inner, softer side of your arm.)
She doesn’t tell them about the fake-dating scheme. Just her honest troubles about people talking shit and treating her like shit, but not hard enough that she can complain to people about it. People hinting that she isn’t good enough for Shouto, just because she’s an ordinary nurse with an ordinary face and an ordinary quirk, and how fucked up it is that people would rather see him with Yui-san rather than someone like her.
And actually seeing him with Yui-san, out of nowhere… that took her by surprise. Made her feel weirder than it should. Shouto didn’t even look that bothered when Ochako was eyeing the two of them with all those silent questions floating in her head. She was ready to listen to whatever excuse--no, explanation he would give, but he got paged, and all she has is that heavy shitty feeling in her tummy to bring home.
“Hm,” Kyoka says, as she lifts the needle and dabs her swollen skin with gauze. (Lots of people going hm this evening. She’s starting to get sick of it.) “And you say that Doctoroki saw you talking to that Shindo guy at the lobby, right?”
Ochako winces, but doesn’t say anything.
“Hm,” Setsuna concurs, as her sharp teeth work through a strawberry mochi. “Todoroki saw, all right. I was watching all of you from the back, ‘cause it looked like drama was ‘bout to go down--”
Her jaw drops, allowing a shocked stupid sound escape from it.
“-- and it was obvious that Seismic was super into you,” she continues without an ounce of shame. Her disembodied hand floats and stuffs a mochi into Kyoka’s mouth, who receives it blankly. “If I were Todoroki, I’d be super bothered. But he didn’t say anything at all after that encounter. Right, Ochako-chan?”
She closes her jaw, and winces again. That’s also part of why she feels like shit right now. “Is it weird that I feel bad that he didn’t feel bad about this?”
The other girls look at each other. “Well… I mean if it were us, and it was Yui instead of Seismic makin’ eyes at Kyoka-chan, I won’t be bothered,” says the lizard girl thoughtfully.
“I agree. Yui looks like a sweetheart,” the tattoo apprentice agrees with a sage nod. “I even got her photobook! It’s really nice, I understand why they had a stampede over it--”
“Oh shit, is it the unofficial one by the photographer, Spiral?” gasps Setsuna, eyes wide when Kyoka nods at her smugly. “Let me borrow please omg I heard the entire book is soul-cleansing, and heaven knows my dead and rotting soul needs cleansing--”
Ochako immediately realizes that she’s speaking with the wrong pair. She sighs as they gush a little more about Yui, until they notice her simmering in a pool of insecurity.
“Oh, but we don’t mean that you’re any less of a sweetheart than Yui,” says the internist with a cackle. “Uh… right. What I was saying was, it’s different, what happened earlier. Seismic and you? I dunno, I guess for others it looks like you guys were just talking but… when I saw you I had half a mind to get you out of there… something just didn’t feel right, I guess? And I was totally waitin’ for Todoroki to do the same, but...”
He didn’t. The little nurse twists her lip. “I wish you got me out of there, Dr. Tokage,” she sighs. “Maybe then I wouldn’t feel so…”
Disappointed. Guilty.
“Weird,” she finishes, with a sigh.
“Hm.” Kyoka and Setsuna say in unison, eyeing her with sympathy and suspicion and it’s weird how they mixed those together.
“Well,” the tattoo artist says thoughtfully, triangular eyes boring right into hers in the most grown-up glint she’s ever seen, “I get the confusion, I really do. You’re dealing with a lot at work, so you’re not at your best right now. Maybe that thing with that Shindo guy is nothing, and that thing with Yui is nothing, and maybe it isn’t worth it to be weird about it. But I think that all those weird things that you’re feeling should be expressed as they are to Doctoroki. You know? I mean… it might be a weird conversation, but you guys are in a real, adult relationship--”
She tries not to choke at the last part.
“--and real, adult relationships require real, adult conversations. Otherwise, there’d be misunderstandings, and trust me, those are the things you want to deal with as soon as possible. Right, Setsuna?”
Setsuna nods and gives Ochako a sawtooth smile. “Gotta say, Ochako-chan, you got your work cut out for you, eh? Shouto’s a talker, isn’t he?”
The nurse sighs deeply. He can be, if he wants to, but it’s obvious that he didn’t want to say anything earlier. Maybe for him it’s all nothing.
Maybe she should talk to him about it. But… how to start talking to Todoroki Shouto about… feelings ?
Yikes, Ochako. Good luck.
The troubled nurse closes her eyes as Kyoka continues shading the entire planet Saturn on her arm.

Todoroki Shouto (0230H): Good night.

Things happen. Outside, society’s on the verge of crumbling because villains keep popping up left and right.
Life in the hospital, however, goes on.
This week, Shouto and Ochako manage to make exactly one public appearance: a coffee run at the convenience store next to the hospital lobby, before he forces his sleep-deprived self to drive her home. She isn’t sure if he does it out of obligation to their set-up, or if he needed a functioning pair of eyes at the passenger seat to wake him up if he falls asleep on the wheel… which happens twice, at different stoplights.
They make it to Ochako’s apartment without incident. She watches him carefully as he rubs his tired eyes and takes a swig of the cheap coffee, which makes his mouth curl in distaste. “Are you going to make it home, Doctoroki?”
He nods, although his sallow eyes seem to say the contrary.
She swallows nervously and says, “You can… take a nap inside, if you want to--”
“I’ll be okay,” Shouto says, with sudden clarity. “I don’t want to impose.”
But you should, she thinks. “I don’t want you to get in an accident.”
He shakes his head. “I won’t. Promise.”
He drains the coffee, to prove his point further. Ochako continues to eye him warily, but it looks like entering her tiny home will make him more uncomfortable than dying on the road, so she keeps her mouth shut.
“You can… take a nap in your car, if you need to,” she says, unbuckling her seatbelt with a sense of defeat.
“Don’t worry about me.” He tries to look at her with some assurance. “I’ll be fine. I’ll text you when I get home. Or when they pull me out of the wreckage. Either way.”
She laughs nervously. That’s all she can do at this point.
Thankfully, twenty minutes later as she sits on the floor biting her fingernails to the crescent, Shouto sends a photo of his car, parked safely in the garage. Home. I’ll be sleeping in a bit. I’ll see you at work tomorrow.
And that’s that, for the week. Ochako feels a little empty, if she were being completely honest with herself, but really, she shouldn’t have hoped for anything different than this sudden exhausted back-and-forth between them.
She shouldn’t have allowed herself to feel much more than that.
Because as it happens, on the dull Tuesday that follows, all hell breaks loose in the feelings department, in the worst way that it can.
 *
 It happens like this:
1409H. Most of her work is done, she isn’t on deck for the next procedure. All her paperworks are done, and her shift is essentially over. It’s one of those rare good days at work where she finishes on time. Eijirou and Yuuga are done, too, and to celebrate the rare miracle of being out of the hospital in the light of day, they decide to treat themselves to a nice meal.
Eijirou and Yuuga argue about where to go for some time. In hindsight, Ochako thinks that things might have gone differently if Yuuga had insisted on wanting to eat Monoma’s croque madame a little bit more, but as it happens Eijirou convinces them that NTG cafe is the way to go, because have you even tried their truffle pasta Aoyama? Oh my god you should, and also he wants to see if the owner, Bakugou, is doing okay today. (He doesn’t elaborate much when he’s asked why he wants to check, though.)
Ochako hasn’t been to this cafe much--the first time she ordered something, Bakugou was manning the counter and had the gall to write RoundFace on her cup. Never mind how accurate it is, and how very amused Mina was at the time it happened, it was still pretty darn rude. But she digresses.
Today, though, the other blonde barista named Kaminari takes their orders, and they take a seat at the back of the cafe, near the exit at the other side.
As they wait, Yuuga gushes about the Idiabazal cheese he got thru the Cheese of the Month club. Ochako tries to be interested, but ducks down to send a message on her phone very quickly:
Me (1432H): I finished work on time today so im eatin out with eijirou-kun and yuuga-kun :) i hope work won’t be too insane for you today.
She stares at the screen for a good minute after she sends it, expects nothing and sees nothing. She pushes her phone back to her pocket, tries to lose herself in Yuuga’s sparkles, and…
The cafe collectively holds its breath, as the pro-hero Yui enters.
Even Yuuga pauses for a good second to say, “Ah! My, isn’t she stunning?”
Dressed simply in a sleeveless white shirt and jeans that fit her just right; very light make-up that enhances the glow of her face. Straight, dark hair that falls over her shoulders. She goes to the counter to place her order, not minding how Kaminari instantly goes whey and almost messes everything up.
“Yeah, she is,” Ochako admits with just a smidgen of sour in her voice. She watches as Yui regards the grenade-matryoshka bomb at the counter with prolonged interest, opening and closing the doll as if it’s the most amusing thing in the world.
Huh, she thinks, seeing the unmistakable smile on the other girl’s face. So she can do something else with her mouth…
She reprimands herself for sounding so mean, and goes back to sipping her cold brew.
The door chimes as another person enters the cafe. She doesn’t look up, not until she hears Eijirou cough, and Yuuga hum in surprise.
Ochako almost doubles over herself, when she sees the scene in front of her.
Todoroki Shouto looks mildly out of breath, like he ran on the way there. His coat is slung over his arm, and when he reaches out to touch Yui on the shoulder, she turns and stares at him as if she’s expecting him to be there.
“What the,” Eijirou mumbles, looking at Ochako with more than just a little concern.
They exchange very sparse words, and pick a table at the other, more intimate end of the cafe. They don’t seem to notice that they are there. When they sit, Shouto’s back is to them. Yui’s face is visible from Ochako’s vantage point, if she peeks over the other customers’ shoulders.
“Well… this is quite étrange ,” Yuuga whispers to her, conspiratorially. “Did you know about this, mon enfant? ”
She numbly shakes her head and keeps an eye on them from a distance. Yui seems to be saying, thank you for meeting me here, Todoroki-san. You must be busy.
Eijirou reaches out for her hand. “Baby, you okay? Maybe we should go there and say hi? You know, it could be nothing, and...”
Ochako shakes her head again, and watches Shouto’s head move a little as he speaks. The heroine replies with a curt nod. There are plenty of words being exchanged--she misses a lot of the words being said, and barely deciphers, I understand. For your family though, this might be important.
The blonde turns to her with a questioning stare. “ Mes amies, Ochako doesn’t look so well, perhaps we should leave instead, let her have some fresh air--”
“Shush, you two,” she snaps, a little too sternly than she means. Her two friends flinch and look down. She’ll say sorry later, but now she can’t feel any sense of apology, she can’t feel anything--
Okay, Yui says, an odd look in her eyes. Her mouth doesn’t move from its usual straight, impassive line. She says something that Ochako can’t quite catch, and then--
I want to hold your hand.
Shouto freezes. Ochako freezes even more, because Yui reaches out and holds his right hand, and he doesn’t stop her, and she says something in such a low voice, her mouth barely moving, like it’s a secret between the two of them, and Shouto leans forward, says something back, and--
“Babe.” Eijirou’s tone is sharper now, sharp enough to cut through the panicked haze that her head is suddenly lost in. “Ochako. Look at me.”
She does just that, and wonders why his face is suddenly so hazy and why it’s hard to breathe. When she inhales, it’s shaky, and an ugly sob wants to escape from her open mouth. She doesn’t let it though, she focuses on the way Eijirou is holding her hand and the way Yuuga is patting comforting circles at her back, keeping the sounds at bay.
“Let’s get you out of here, okay?” the redhead says softly. He shimmies out of his hoodie and places it on top of her shaking head. “You don’t have to say anything, we’ll just get you through the back exits, get you some fresh air--”
“ Oui, ma petite chérie, ” Yuuga adds, dabbing her cheeks with a paper napkin and glaring at the other tables, who begin to stare. “We’ll take care of you, do not worry.”
“Okay,” she hiccups stupidly.
They make it outside somehow, away from prying eyes. Ochako guesses and hopes that the faraway table doesn’t notice them and her and her stupid tear-stained cheeks and puffy eyes. Eijirou drives her home, with Yuuga tagging along, sitting in careful silence.
In her tiny apartment (the one Shouto doesn’t even want to step into, ahhh it makes more sense now), she allows her friends to sit herself down on the floor, wrap a blanket or two around her, play her favorite songs. Yuuga fusses about her bare kitchenette and somehow comes out with a cup of hot cocoa, while Eijirou sends an SOS to Mina and Hanta to come after their shift, if they can.
They ask her to talk, in turn. About her and Doctoroki, if there were any problems, if there were any signs. Because, social media aside, come to think of it, her friends don’t know a thing about the two of them. “I mean, I see you guys eat together at work sometimes, but I… haven’t seen you two talk up close. Except that time in the locker,” Eijirou says as gently as he can.
She shakes her head. Keeping up appearances is hard enough to do for the crowds and Shouto’s family. “We haven’t been… talking a lot.”
They never did get back to talking about their IRL talk. They ask why, and the urge to tell her closest friends about the fake dating scheme wells in her chest like a dam about to break, but she stops herself on time. Still, she can’t give another reason other than being busy. Eijirou and Yuuga look at each other and sigh in unison.
“Whatever is going on, mon cher,” Yuuga says, after they carefully try to wheedle more useless details from her, “You two simply must talk. Yes?”
Ochako sniffles and says, “But… talking is hard.”
She’s afraid of admitting to Shouto that she feels hurt, even though by all accounts she doesn’t have the right to. Especially when Shouto did all this in the first place ‘so no-one gets hurt’.
Eijirou laughs and ruffles her hair, like the brat that she is. “Yeah. It is. But I don’t think you’ll feel any better just not talking about this right?”
She buries her face in her fluffy blankets and whines.

Todoroki Shouto (1756H): Good work today. The patient we operated on is recovering really quickly.
Todoroki Shouto (1758H): Are you on your way home?
Me (1805H): ya i am. In mina-chans car
Todoroki Shouto (1806H): Okay. Let me know when you’re safe at home.
Me (1810H): …
Todoroki Shouto (1812H): …?
Me (1814H): why
Todoroki Shouto (1820H): …
Todoroki Shouto (1821H): I’d like to know that you made it home without anyone causing you harm or threatening you.
Todoroki Shouto (1822H): I don’t want a repeat of what happened in Shizuoka.
Me (1825H): ah. ya that makes sense
Todoroki Shouto (1829H): Are you all right, Ochako?
Me (1830H): yeah i am
Todoroki Shouto (1831H): You sure?
Todoroki Shouto (1832H): Please be honest with me
Todoroki Shouto (1832H): Whatever is bothering you, I’d like to know. I’d like to help.
Me (1834H): Doctoroki
Me (1837H): Shouto, I mean
Me (1838H): When should we break up?

Cells at Work! 13 (FINAL) | Double Decker! 2 | Slime Datta Ken 1 | Run with the Wind 1 | Bakumatsu 1 | Zombieland Saga 1 | DakaIchi 1 | Radiant 1 | SSSS.Gridman 1
Warning for discussion of 18+, potentially triggery things within the DakaIchi discussion...and the nature of that show being a yaoi will tell you whether you want to read that discussion in the first place. (There are full stops and lines around it in case you want to dodge that particular part, since Radiant comes right after it.)
...Otherwise, have at it.
Cells at Work! 13 (FINAL)
Apparently “distal” just means your extremities…
For some reason, I already knew about the fact that you can die from losing one third of your blood…because I read a Tumblr post that was meant to be for action writers and it was about blood loss.
…Huh? Was this a blood transfusion? That would explain why these new RBCs are so clueless about our RBC. Update: Yup, guessed it.
Come to think of it, there’s a WBC Nendoroid and a Platelet one but no RBC. That’s a bit disappointing…
The WBCs using that wobbly stick thing in the background are amusing, eheh.
Anyways, that was fun, even if I did get used to the routine of RBC getting lost and WBC fighting antigens in the end. See you next time!
Double Decker! 2
We’re now properly in the fall season, and of course now that the first drop’s out of the way, we’re starting with the best show this season (at least for the moment).
So does that mean if we’re NEETs we’re not paying for these detectives…? Is this an incentive for people to pay their taxes (LOL)…? (Okay, I’m kidding, I’m kidding. Sheesh.)
DD Partners…? Sounds…uh, partnery, considering what DD stands for.
Why is Travis blinking so much when he’s apologising…?
Snarky narrator is fun. I thought it was Kirill during ep 1 (or at least, it was for a bit), but now this narrator’s talking too much in 3rd person for it to be true. Maybe…it’s future Kirill. *collective facepalms from the peanut gallery* Or maybe it’s Kirill and a narrator, and Kirill will then break the 4th wall somewhere.
Now that’s monkeying around…LOL. *gets pelted by tomatoes* Oh c’mon, can’t I get in a decent joke around here?!
Well, as much as the can thing Doug does to Kirill is tropey for anime, I gotta admit this ain’t monkey busin-eh? You want me to stop with the jokes? Aw. Fine then, I’ll stop…
There’s something utterly relatable about having gone down the path of your dreams, only for it not to work out. In fact, I think I’m going down that path right now and I need to decide where to head next. That’s why I’m watching this episode right now – to make sure I don’t regret my future, by focussing on the present with a good anime.
According to this link to Google Books I got when I googled “ignis” and “desperatio” together, this might have something to do with a Panegyric of the Saints…something to do with hell, worms, fire and despair…? Uh, wuh? Am I just investigating this the wrong way?
Sanctus Bridge? As in “sanctuary”? Wow, that’s…ironic.
The rabbit police mascot…you can see it on Deana’s dashboard, LOL. Plus the bird police mascot that goes with it.
The name shots you get of these criminals aren’t nearly as good as “dick suck” (sic) in Kekkai Sensen, but they’re pretty close. Plus they actually do have correct Japanese translations, unlike “dick suck” (LOL).
Seriously, what’s up with Doug’s head prodding? Is it to stop him from trichotillomania (which is the pulling out of hair)? I can see it getting vaguely annoying when the excitement of a new season wears off…
The CGI is kind of awkward in this. You’d need to stare at it for a bit to realise it’s CGI and it’s not the worst effort I’ve seen (*grumbles* Tsukigakirei *grumble*) but it’s still pretty bad…
Oh! Those doors! Is Doug’s car…a DeLorean? (dramatic piano SFX in background)
Was it just me, or did Kirill’s face go funny for a second as he was moping about how he didn’t get to do anything…?
“Let me be your Double Decker!” – That’s what he says as a double decker bus goes by…clever wordplay, huh?
“One is poverty. The other is class.” – Okay, my studies tell me that’s pretty much impossible. Even in social situations, you have a clear leader and subordinates. Poverty is fine and dandy in regards to giving the boot – heck, that’s why things like the Millenium Development Goals exist (or rather, existed in that case, since those were replaced in 2015) – but class? That’s a bit of a difficult one, unless you want to resort to hardline socialist methods, Marxist methods…or communist ones. Not that any of those are bad, it’s just that I happen to like capitalism, even with its flaws and no matter what imbalances it causes to others. It’s just that not having capitalism would mean everyone’s equal, but then everyone’s worse off as a result…because if everyone has the same stuff, no one is different and no one is diverse enough to make anyone special. Get what I mean?
I think this episode sold me even more on the show, the premise…the everything. Except maybe that “I want to get rid of class” part.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime 1
I just memorise this show as “Slime Datta Ken”, so if you’re wondering what that is…now you know.
What was that opening segment for, man…? This is just a boring isekai intro.
I’m laughing! He values his computer over his life? As much as I know I’m attached to my computer, you should prioritise 1) getting Mikami an ambulance, 2) stopping the blood flow or 3) just getting Mikami to preserve his own life. Not that I’ve ever been in a life or death scenario, but that’s common sense, even if it’s a bit nihilistic or unrealistic.
Seriously, there’s currently no pull but how intriguing these unexplained “acquisition” scenes are. Like seriously. Those effects are cool and somewhat intriguing in the same way as Juuni Taisen was.
The picture of a flower…where did it come from? A child? Hmm, interesting way to express such a though process.
The CGI of the reveal was actually really good. Like, Houseki no Kuni good!
Actually, this is very Houseki no Kuni. Reestablishing what it is that makes humans human and what causes a creature to live and all that.
I never knew a slime could be this expressive…
“I see you have guts.” – That’s probably something you shouldn’t say to a slime, LOL.
Oh! This reminds me of a writing piece I had to do one time where you had to tell a tale from a monster’s perspective and make them sympathetic. I wrote about a dragon, so there’s something nostalgic about this.
There really isn’t a lot of movement in this show. Not that I mind it – Juuni Taisen I used to love a bunch and that was based off a novel, but this is an LN-based show…the level of writing in this show is clearly from the LN camp, for one thing. How it got such great production values, however, is another question entirely…
The slime and dragon friendship that just formed made me wanna go “ET!”, just because the gesture they did to seal said friendship did kind of look like that, haha.
Mechasoft Doors MX…hey, I am getting my fix of anime OSs this season after all! Just…not in Gridman yet. Update: There are zero OSs in Gridman, not in episode 1 at least...
Oh wow! That fight scene was so darned cool! It makes me wanna see more already! And the fact he (I already know from promo material the slime’s name is Rimuru) uses his slime form and human form interchangeably…that’s even cooler!
The font down the bottom and up the top of the next episode box appears to say “Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken” (due to the frequency of one of the symbols that appears to be an S, then you do the same for E and you realise it works…then you realise the text is just stylised romaji). There are zeroes and ones on the left and right sides, which might correlate to Rimuru’s “analysis voice”…whatever that may be. Anyways, I’m pretty confident this’ll be something for my lineup, but it’s too early for judgement calls. It’s a keeper…for now.
Run with the Wind 1
Now here’s a show I didn’t expect to follow going in…I picked it up merely on ANN recs.
I’m laughing like a maniac! As much as it was a compelling opening, after the dude arrives on his bike and asks “Do you like running?” to a thief, I lost it. For some reason, I find it almost so unrealistic it became hilarious, in a stupid sort of way. Or maybe I just have a really bad sense of humour. Who knows?
That one guy running in the back in the OP is basically me every time I’m meant to do something physical. Even going up three floors via stairs gets me out of breath though and I live a fairly sedentary lifestyle, so I ain’t a good comparison.
That nickname “Shindo” puzzles me. I can’t think of a kanji combo that would result in wordplay with the characters for “god” and “child” using the name “Takashi Sugiyama”, but I guess maybe we’ll find out in a later episode…?
Thank…uh, goodness for the censorship on Musa…
Musa speaks unusually politely (because I noticed he used “gozonji desu” at one point, which is a keigo variant for “shitteiru”). Maybe it’s because they barely know each other that there’s keigo being flung about. That seems reasonable, at least.
There’s something authentic about this sense of camaraderie. I can tell because my extended family is huge, so gatherings are often like this but multiplied in scale.
“Tsuru no Yu” – Technically that translates to “Crane’s Bath”…”Public Bath” is the place’s purpose.
I was wondering why we’d somehow reverted to not having 10 dudes, but then they show this is actually Haiji’s perspective of the event from the start of the episode and show the scar on his knee. That’s gotta be important for later.
…and Haiji left his towel, LOL.
I still laugh every time I see Haiji’s stupid face (the one he makes when he asks “Do you like running?”).
I’ve associated the slurring of words like “yakusoku-ssu” to be for smol bishies like Yumoto, so having Haiji use it is a bit of whiplash. Then again, apparently that slurring is only used by men to assert their masculinity as far as I know…so, uh, yeah.
Actually…I’ve been wondering. How long are courses at this uni? Where I am, being a straight literature major is 3 years (assuming you also do other stuff that fulfils a straight Arts degree). Also, Fune wo Amu (by the same creator) is about a dude making a dictionary…hmm, so the creator really likes books.
Wait, as far as my short term memory operates, most of these guys at Chikuseisou do arts majors, aside from the law student and the smoker (who does engineering). They do literature or sociology, mostly. So if that’s correct…the author also likes sociology. I’ve been thinking about doing some sociology myself, it would really complement what I know about international studies.
As explained by Kyra, chiku – sei – sou. The sei means blue/green and the chiku means bamboo. Switching the two and reading them differently gives you “Aotake”.
Rent’s $300? Must be cheap, eh?
Also see Kyra’s post for information about the food-based suicide note.
The Kanto Gogakuren refers to this manga, Sakigake!! Otokojuku. It’s basically Again!!, but with more Fist of the North Star-style dudes.
Hmm…turns out you can refer to this show as KazeTsuyo. That’s going to make me confuse it with SekaTsuyo, though…(SekaTsuyo = Wanna Be the Strongest in the World!) Also, it turns out the character for “Kakeru” in this case means “to run” (normally it means “to dash” with a kanji normally used for flying). Wait…did I ever mention how much this show’s aesthetic visuals always look as if they’re a Powerpoint theme (see images below)? They do look like that, don’t they?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I still have no idea why Kakeru has a bad case of resting b**** face, but…uh yeah, forget I said that. The sound direction in this show’s really nice. It really takes advantage of quiet moment to insert natural sounds.
I think if you go “yes!” when Haiji says “I’m going to win over all the dudes”, then you’re sold on the show. I did go “yes”, just without speaking. You know those feelings you only get in your gut and heart? Yeah, like that.
Huh? I noticed a dude called Bruce Chiou is in the credits and he’s definitely on RErideD this season too…
Out of this one, Slime Datta Ken and Double Decker it’s ranked last, but this show’s still a pretty strong addition to the seasonal lineup. Only time will tell if I kick it out or not…
Bakumatsu 1
The only experience I have with this era in anime is Bakumatsu Rock, I think…and that means I don’t know much about it.
Actually…considering the OP, scratch that. I know a bunch because of Touken Ranbu and other similar historical shows.
A…boob window? On a man? I get the black skintight vest is meant to be sexy, but I can’t see the point of that diamond…it’s just something extra for the animators and the illustrators to deal with.
C’mon. Can we not have Dudes Swishing Their Swords at the 4th Wall as something meant to hype up the audience? It’s a cliché, almost as bad as the running scenes you often get in OPs and EDs…Seriously, I can’t believe I’m getting mad at 10 dudes swinging their swords like this (specifically I’m getting mad because they were all in succession – doesn’t matter if it was in time to the music or not).
Okay, who transplanted WWI into this? I know that’s the point of the show, but the sepia really sold the idea of “this is meant to be Old-Timey Wimey Stuff and whoever’s meant to be watching is meant to be a history buff so they can spot the difference”.
Part of the ep title is “Mou Ichido no Bakumatsu”, so a better translation is “The Bakumatsu (Era) – Again!”
Wait, I thought Kondo was meant to look hotter than this (especially because he had what appears to be a coin – or an old-timey family crest – on his head). The frumpy mouth doesn’t sell the goods, yo.
Somehow…I knew Katsura would have glasses. He has them in Bakumatsu Rock. But is it historically accurate to have glasses in the Bakumatsu era, though?
Come to think of it…something that controls time would be pretty hard to destroy, no?
I think I read on ANN that swords being too big to draw in ship quarters is accurate. Hmm.
If this is such an important treasure…then why not have more padlocks on it? Or more guards closer to it (although those guys probably ran away)? Or some other protection around it? Couldn’t this supposed Yoshinobu-sama fight for himself?...Then again, I think this is just a case of overthinking. (insert MST3K mantra here)
Puh-lease. As much as I want a kunoichi (lady ninja) in my shows, don’t make them Naruto run. That’s one of my pet peeves…
Uh…Hagi? That’s probably it, considering there’s a river in the show.
Kakesoba.
Kamaboko.
Tanuki soba.
Well, there’s something to be said about being able to steal Shinsengumi jackets while the men are eating noodles. At least it didn’t involve knocking them out though (weak LOL).
Okay…why do the Shinsengumi look like waiters now? As much as I like a dude in a waiter suit, if I wanted a waiter, I’d go to a fancy French restaurant…
I feel like I’m being clubbed over the head with themes in this show. C’mon, have more tact than that.
There’s basically no chemistry between these guys (Katsura and Shinsaku). How did they meet?
Wait, so Darker Blue is Sakamoto if Green is Katsura and Red is Shinsaku? Sakamoto (Ryouma) is the redhead in Bakumatsu Rock, isn’t he? Okay then. But who’s White?
Seriously, Shinsaku. Learn from the kunoichi and stay quiet and stealthy. I don’t need another shonen hero…
Oh man, Toshizou is normally one of the Shinsengumi I like best (or at least I recognise his name more) out of these kinds of shows. If he has Perma-Scowl, I can’t possibly like this version.
Oh goodness. Souji’s a friggin’ sadist. Come to think of it though, I think this (Okita) Souji looks like the one from Gintama.
Why does Toshizou sound a frigton like any given Touken Ranbu sword…?
If that katana is symbolic…Toshizou must be hecka masculine, LEL. (Note: A “LEL” is not quite a LOL, it’s mostly done in jest. If anything, it’s probably about half a LOL.)
If that blonde ain’t Abe no Seimei, Yoshinobu-sama or some other important historical figure I know the name of, I’m eating my hat! (Not that I’m wearing one, it’s a figure of speech.)
I like Sakamoto’s face here, but man, I get distracted by the man candy below it…(i.e. his abs and bare chest, LOL. What did you think I was referring to?)
Oh great. (sarcastic) Sanada Yukimura almost always has that silly helmet, ever since Sengoku Musou I’ve pretty much tried to run away from it. I’d recognise it anywhere.
Who had the grand idea of letting Sanada keep his horse, anyway?
Okay, as much as I like making snarky comments, I made one too many here, methinks. Time for the drop pile.
Zombieland Saga 1
I read spoilers just a little bit, so I know the main twist is “zombie idols that sing death metal” already. If you didn’t want to know that at this point…sorry.
Whoa! They killed their protag off the bat? Not that I didn’t know that wouldn’t happen (already knew it would), but that’s gutsy. Truck-kun, go back to your darn isekai shows already.
Okay, I know this is a schoolgirl, but can we not with Sakura’s Schoolgirl Run for Dainty Ladies? This is a zombie show, dangit. Run properly. Can we also not with the boob jiggle?
Well, that’s one way to defeat a police officer (or get yourself arrested): Spade to the Brain.
Otsumami appears to be the name for the squid in Kotaro’s pocket.
You can’t see Kotaro’s eyes, even behind those sunnies…hmm…
Wow. Miyano sounds like he’s having such fun voicing Kotaro, y’know?
From the flyer: “They are coming soon from the underground...” Yup, that’s right, alright. Zombies have already come from the underground.
Tae’s credited under ????. They’re still holding out on us!
It seems like a pretty good keeper, provided you can keep up with who’s who.
.
..
...
DakaIchi 1
Yep, the BL anime. Thought I’d never try one? Think again.
As much as I do think I’d want to be hugged by Takato, his face…makes him look like he came out of Junjou Romantica…? Uhh…awkward.
Please don’t let this be a work full of sadism and BDSM. I’m not that kinky, y’know…?
Uh, if you ever knew “boundaries”, Azumaya, that would be great. Thanks.
LOL, what a way to win a dude over. $10! That is cheap for a star.
I’m still wondering if this all constitutes “assault” or some other illegal business. I mean, Takato agreed to everything under the influence of a bunch of drinks.
LOL, the director’s shirt says “concentration”. As in, “focus on the stuff you’re doing”.
Hey wait, how does anyone pull off a kabedon on an operation curtain?!
Uh…maybe it’s just my inexperience with the genre, but…what the heck was that scene with the feathers?
Dangit, Yaoi Hands. If I weren’t so aware of you already, you wouldn’t be breaking the immersion of this show!!!
Random Dance Ending? I so did not expect that, I’m laughing as a result.
Uhh…I cannot believe I did that. I watched an episode of a yaoi anime and coveredit without it ruining my pride! To think I watched 18+ shoujo ai before 18+ shonen ai is really something I cannot get my head around, though…not that I will ever tell you which shoujo ai show I watched. So…uh, it was actually pretty decent aside from the “I don’t get what the heck this scene is meant to be” bits which are probably staples of the genre.
...
..
.
Radiant 1
Uhh…why do I feel like I’m watching Deltora Quest for the 3rd time? Not that Deltora Quest is bad, it’s just too stereotypically high fantasy.
Mahoutsukai. Literally “mage”, but could be “wizard” or “sorcerer” if you went with it loosely. Then again, the French word for sorcerer must be pretty close to the English one which should be enough of a guide for translators, right?
Eh? It’s an…elephant –cow? What is this, Avatar  the Last Airbender? (half-snarking)
I think as the show goes along, its comedic timing is actually getting…better. That’s something, huh?
The show’s just a tiny bit too heavy-handed with its themes of racism or whatever sorcerers stand for. Then again, this is a shonen show. It’s allowed to be this way.
Geez, stylised English really is the order of the day for anime these days, huh? Lessee here…Alma’s…uh, Observatory, I think it says…?
Uh…all this talk about grimoires is giving me bad flashbacks…bad, screamy flashbacks involving a certain Asta…
I just noticed Alma gets referred to that way by Seth. Are these two not related, even though they share the same house (?) and hair colour?
Oh great. (sarcastic) Toilet humour. One of my worst enemies, aside from fanservice…
What’s up with the bat (?)? It knd of seems to be Alma’s…
Hey, I…think I know this kind of story too well. It’s going to eventually end, after a long run, with an adult Seth and that girl from one of the key visuals together…or something. Shonen are weird like that. They always end with a happily ever after and an adult protagonist, or the “the adventure just keeps happening!” sort of thing…y’know?
The plural of Nemesis is “Nemeses”, but it seems the book Seth read said “Nemesis’ Egg”. So the plural is the same as the singular in this case.
Huh? They chose to put both fancily-written French and then Japanese under it, as a homage to the French origins of this work? Huh, interesting.
Tommy’s saying “Gyaaaaah!” not “Yaaaaaaah!” - there’s a difference between those two, y’know?
SSSS.Gridman 1
As a self-professed fan of heroes who never actually got into tokusatsu because I keep missing Power Rangers when it airs on local TV stations, this and Garo are filling in a genre space I never really had until I started wandering tokusatsu wikis...which was before the live-action Power Rangers came out, methinks.
Why do I feel like I’ve seen this font (the one “SSSS.Gridman” is written in)? I thought it was a Calvin Harris music video, since I have a few downloaded legally (due to a CD I found in one particular library), but Harris’s font is slightly different to this one…Well, after some experimentation, it seems to be Arial with extra kerning.
“Amnesiac” is starting to become an anime trope in itself…
Seven-Two-One, LOL.
Ahh, children in puberty. Can’t tell whether relationships are romantic or just platonic. (wistful)
If Utsumi isn’t the goth dude from earlier, I’m eating my hat! (Not that I’m wearing one right-oh, I’ve used this joke before, haven’t I?)
…dangit, now I have to eat my metaphorical hat. By the by, I thought Utsumi was an Ume sort of character (as in, the type who would usually get voiced by Yuichiro Umehara), but no, it was Soma Saito.
The girl with the purple hair reminds me of the Administrator (or whatever her name is, the AI) from Yakusoku no Nanayamatsuri.
Regardless of whether the scene was with volume or not, that awkward pause between Shinjo, Utsumi and Hibiki went just a weeny bit too long…
When Takarada approached Utsumi and Hibiki, the colours of her earphones and eyes really popped!
They seem to treat memory loss as something minor, like a cold. It’s a bit awkward, I think.
Utsumi, kid. If you think computers from the 70s and 80s are huge, you should see server rooms! Those computers are huge! Not to mention, the first computers filled up entire rooms (just like servers do). Even portable server units are about a good 160 cm tall with wheels…oh, you don’t want to hear me prattle on about this? Okay, moving on.
“This really is a pile of junk, huh?” I had to go back and check someone hadn’t skipped a word – they did skip the word, in fact.
T-This is what Trigger have held out on us for? A monster like this looks terrible in CGI, man. Even if it is one of the better efforts. I mean, the eyes don’t even look in the same direction…
Why does Utsumi refer to the computer as “Junk”?
The Ultra series? Y’mean Ultraman?
Let’s just say…Gridman looks much better than the kaiju here.
They didn’t even dispose of the kaiju head properly, LOL.
I feel like the battle didn’t quite get my blood boiling. (Probably because I was grumbling too hard at the kaiju and the parts where the execution got a little too silly.) I’ll put it on hold and see if it gets better in a few episodes, but I’m not holding my breath. Since this is Trigger, it could pull off some great stuff if it tried…it’s just this seemed a little soulless in comparison to everything else I’ve seen them do. Or maybe my increased consumption of anime this year has left me jaded...

bucchigiri ep 8 thoughts (a.k.a. the drama-loving bitch inside me finally gets fed):
marito <- mahoro (can't take a hint) <- arajin (even worse at taking a hint) <- matakara (the worst at taking a hint)
ope well ara is back to being a dick to matakara
okay he's being a liiiiiiittle nice
matakara asking all the people in his life to attend is very sweet
i wonder if he asked ara to host because that's the only way he'd get ara to attend? hmm
kenichiro's little smile 😭
not senya proposing lmao
eh shindo seems a little too sincere. trying to trick matakara? is ichiya making him get close so he can merge with matakara?
oh yeah definitely lol
i need this show to give me more than a static shot of ichiya cause his outfit slays
the animation on the gyoza-making is beautiful
also really nice to see something that arajin is good at that isn't given to him by magic. also nice to see him in a moment where he isn't the butt of the joke about how sad and horny he is
the colors got all desaturated... i'm a bit scared for what is going to go wrong with this party
does kenichiro own any other coat
did he die??? get jumped????
zabu and komao are real ones
hell yeah zabu go off
eat your goddamn guilt gyoza arajin
is ichiya gonna get him when he's weak hearted, like as implied in the first scene?
matakara even during a crisis you are still so gay. arajin is literally just a guy you need to prioritize yourself sweetie
i want matakara to go absolutely apeshit he deserves it
matakara your childhood friend who weighs 100 lbs soaking wet showed up one day with the power of a god and you never considered maybe he might be getting a little outside help
so is a big theme of this show about the dangers of idolization maybe? matakara believes in arajin to an unhealthy extent which only hurts him when he finds out he's nothing like how he imagines. ara is constantly hurt by mahoro failing to be the moe-blob gf of his dreams. mahoro is hurt when her brother doesn't return her affection. we're dealing with a lot of one-sided relationships here
i'm glad ara is finally being genuine and telling the truth
also maybe dealing with how idolization hurts the ones we idolize?
matakara :(
damn matakara is getting possessed by senya's evil gay ex. brainwashed by the homosexual agenda.
ICHIYA IS STUNNING oml
that was a really great episode! i wish we had gotten to this point earlier in the season though. i hope we keep up this more serious tone until the end. it's nice to finally get some real emotional catharsis. probably my fav episode of the season so far. i'm very excited to learn about senya and ichiya's falling out.

Introduction with some rants.
If you want to skip and directly go to the list, click/press/touch: here.
But I suggest reading all the post, not to please me (ok, maybe that would make me happy), but mostly as a challenge for you. To be able to say “I was able to read a horrible and full of grammar error post written by an otaku who belives himself a blogger!”.
Feel my despair.
You know, like watching Boku no Pico, you can put it into your CV… wait you can’t?! Watching Boku no Pico isn’t a trophy you should share with others?! Oh, well… just ignore this then.
So, screw it. After 10 days of blogging, I’ve discovered it’s humanly impossible to comment every single anime I’m following, as much as I would like to. I’m unsure about this kind of post though. So, it may just be a one-time thing. I’ll see whether I’m able to write for next week.
No seriously, the trial in the title isn’t for show. For some wicked reason I spent more hours doing this, than any previous post, while the aim was actually cutting the time I put into the blog, as reality is getting too toilsome (yeah, did you notice how it isn’t the blog to be toilsome, but reality?).
I decided that this will cover most of the anime I watch that I have no time to write articles on. I will probably keep writing more detailed posts about the best ones (in my opinion) at least (probably not the sequels though, as I would have probably already read the original source). They will be here too though.
I consider a week from monday to sunday, so this post will try to cover the anime episodes that came out from monday 24th April to sunday 30th april. Yeah, because I have some weird disease that makes me watch anime as soon as they come out, or I’ll die.
Sleep. is. for. the. weak.
As my first report/ranking post, there will also be short introductions for each anime I haven’t already write about yet. Furthermore, and this is important, as I’ve actually started writing this on friday, lots of this week’s episodes are already out of my memory. So, many of the series I’m actually watching, aren’t here in this post. But, hey. This IS a trial version. The important thing is that at least my favourite are here.
But this list doesn’t represent all the anime I’m watching at all. I’m quite proud to be able to watch ove 50 series per season, sacrificing sleep, but I don’t have the drive to write about them all…
This doesn’t mean I won’t try though.
I obviously use a decimal system while attempting to give a score to each episode.  I try to use the MAL system when possible. Don’t count on it too much though. I’m quite bad at analyzing things, and my only criteria is “enjoyment”, which is already difficult for me.
I’m also someone who easily gives 10s, so expect almost always “good” ratings. Heck, why would someone even continue watching shows that he find “bad”? Well, if you’re a masoch- a no-drop club member like me, you’ll find an opportunity to do so…
In addition, I’m still an amateur both in writing and reviewing. So, expect some serious shit. Feel free to be harsh, critic and insult. Feedback is always appreciated, especially if it is
Now, I beg you, please enjoy this. Be it for my grammatical errors, my patethic attempt to be a blogger or because you’re bored. Or else I’ll feel quite depressed.
Yeah… by nature I’m quite pessimistic…
Index (ordered by ranking):
*NATURALLY, THESE ARE ALL MY PERSONAL THOUGHTS, THUS YOU ARE FREE TO DISAGREE, INSULT MY SENSE OF TASTE OR DO MANY OTHER THINGS. i’LL ACCEPT IT, AS DIFFERENT TASTES EXIST IN THIS FREE WORLD.* What I wish the most is to discuss about anime though.

Re:Creators Episode 4 (9.5)
Well. What to say? I’m really loving it. This is entirely a subjective opinion, I totally understand that it has its flaws, but as I make “enjoyment” my criteria, it’s at the top of my list.
We get to see Meteora’s character development, alongside a long and really interesting theory on her part. The Great Destruction: as the world won’t be able to “correct” these anomalies, that are the “translations” of creations, it will soon reset itself, to bring order once again.
Just beautiful. Be it art, animation, MUSIC (OH, GOD. THE MUSIC. THE FREAKING OP ALONE IS ENOUGH!), the concept, the characters, the MUSIC (yes, I have to repeat it), etc. I love it all.
Let’s all listen to its glorious Opening while reading this so called post! (If the link is dead, well, it means something happened, so I suggest just searching it on Youtube)
But, to try to be a little more objective, I won’t give it a full 10, as I’ve in reality never regarded any anime, but maybe Steins;Gate or TTGL as true masterpieces. So… 9.5! “Great/Masterpiece”!
Hungry, aren’t we? What a beautiful pizza.
RETURN TO INDEX
Shingeki no Kyojin S2 Episode 5 (9.5)
HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT. Finally, I’m starting to feel again that tension and hype of first season.
I actually thought I watched the wrong episode in the beginning though. But it was just a flashback about Ymir and Christa’s past, huh. Thus is explained how Ymir knew about the suicidal drive of Christa… but why? Just why would she wish that? Well, I’m not exactly the best person to condemn one for wanting to suicide…
Anyways! After the flashback we finally return to the caged tower, and FUCKING YMIR YOU BECOME A TITAN.
Well, a short Titan (pfff, ok no). It was amazing seeing her trying to save everyone, not even trying to bring down the tower. You gained my deepest respect Ymir.
Then, Christa finally shows her guts! And the tower is brought down, over the swarm of Titans, but they quickly stand up again and shit gets real. Ymir is getting devoured by everyone and Christa is in danger BUTTTTTTT
MIKASA-SAMA CAMES AND SAVES THE DAY!!!! (While Eren falls trying to look cool). Reinforces are here! The scene was so freaking epic I was singing
SASAGEYO! SASAGEYO! SHINZOU WO SASAGEYO! SASAGEYO!
OH. MY FUCKING GOD!!! A FLY JUST BECAME A DRAGON!!!!
Seriously though, the OP is so fucking amazing I’m actually conflicted which I love the most between the Re:Creators one and this. Screw it! I love both.
Did… Ymir just die?!? Please no. There is so much I want to know! And we get to know Christa’s true name?! Historia… I see. The title wasn’t for show, huh. What a beautiful name for a gorgeous and amazing girl.
We finally are getting on track with this episode. I hope it gets even greater and amazing. A 9.5 for now, it got already better compared to first episodes, mainly because there weren’t many MCs?
RETURN TO INDEX
Seikaisuru Kado Episode 4 (8/9)
The episode revolved around the result of having infinite energy (Wam) given. Naturally everyone would liket to have it(?), so UN demands Japan to give it to them, in order to manage and control the new unlimited source of energy.
Japan is unsure, so UN basically declare war. But, our lord and saviour Shindo, with the help of the alien/God zaShunina, is going to screw them over. I want to believe.
Great episode, the show was already quite good. But now it seems the pace will get quicker, as one does not simply stays still when you’re given infinite energy.
8/9, “Great/Really Good” episode. Oh, and Tsukai is cute. Not to mention OP and ED are really good.
RETURN TO INDEX
Quan Zhi Gao Shou Episode 5 (8.5)
Another episode of Ye Xiu’s badness. But we have a new characte: Su Mucheng! Who answered the call of MC, alongside the dude who loves bricks (I seriously love him, it’s just so hilarous) and the newbie xiao Tang, to regain the time-record broken by another guild who is searching for death.
Sasuga! It was her!
Animations stunning as usual, even the one reused. Can’t really say much about it. I really like, even though I see its shortcomings. McDonalds items are delicious to see by the way.
My score for this episode is 8.5, “Good/Great”. I think it will get even better though, at least according to what readers of the CN say (though it skipped LOT of content).
RETURN TO INDEX
Boku no Hero Academia Episode 5 (8+)
As a manga reader, I’m quite satisfied by this adaptation. But this also mean that I’m unable to properly judge the series as only an anime. Oh, well. Who cares.
The battle is mainly between the OP Todoroki VS Midoriya and Bakugou VS a dude of class B (my… memory), whose quirk is even more OP in my opinion, as “copying” and “nullifying” powers are the best (and most chuunibyou like).
Midoriya lost his headband and forced Todoroki to use his “left side”, showing his better ability to control One for All, but it’s Bakugou who matured the most in my opinion: using tactics and his companions quirks at their best to steal the stolen headband, while also keeping at bay (as much as he can, either way, it’s definitely better than before) hir rage? That’s some growth.
It’s exciting seeing both battles, especially the last part where it becomes Bakugou VS Midoriya VS Todoroki. What a pity that… time’s up. First place Todoroki, second Bakugou, third who? Oh, well. Midoriya wasn’t able to get back his own, but thanks to his skills and companions, was able to get fourth place. Nice job!
Then we end with a confrontation between the 1# and 2# heroes, in parallel with their “legacies”.
Umu, I’m satisfied. I really liked this episode, just like the whole series until now. So, an 8+ for now.
Also, it seems the fountain crying way is a family thing, huh… (after credits part).
RETURN TO INDEX
Saekano S2 Episode 3 (8+)
Another episode of the quite fan-service-ish show, Saekano. My opinion is already set up form first season though, that is, really good. MC is quite generic, but that’s exactly why most of us can relate to it I suppose? Not to mention, he’s actually trying to become a creator, combining what he loves with the useful. Just like another series of this season that I greatly enjoy, Re:Creators.
This episode MC continues to … with the support of the basically already in set future winner/wife Megumi (I’m on Senpai’s team though), and the music band members (who remembers them? I definitely not), the script is successfully implemented into the VN. This permits our Mr. Ethical to get some kind of enlightment, which, I have to say, really surprised me.
I honestly would have chosen the second draft, but he rejected both! Saying that it needs to be rewritten, as it is a crap game. I suppose that they would have been great novels, but bad when combined with music, pictures and other elements of a VN?
Seeing Kumikaoga-sempai’s espression, really broke my heart (after credits).
Either way, you pleasantly surprised me MC. As my score was already high to begin with, I can’t really give it more than 8+. Really good, keep up with it. By the way, the scoring is heavily biased by the fact that the MC is an otaku. Everyone likes seeing relatable characters, right?
RETURN TO INDEX
Eromanga-sensei Episode 4 (8)
Wow! Seriously Ero! But I still like it! LOOL, I can’t stop but laugh at their relationship! Sagiri explaining herself with drawings and Onii-chan writing Light novel about her!
Umu, seeing Izumi and Yamada’s efforts make me understand. Understand how pitiful I am to think that writing things in a horrible way for just a week or so would give me results immediately.
…AHHHHAHAAHAHAHAH HE WROTE A FUCKING LOVE LETTER TO HIS SISTERRRRR!!! And she was shut in her room studying for her brother. WHAT’S WITH THISSS!?? Both were thinking about losing each others? This misunderstanding… Ohh.. My heart… I seriously love the characters of this show.
OOOUCHHH! You’re killing Nii-san here. Why do I think that someone is him though?
And he wants to publish his love letter, make it an anime and WATCH IT TOGETHER WITH HER SISTER?!! That’s quite the otrageous idea.
I am seriously enjoying this show. When I actually watch it, my mind and heart are full of emotions. I laugh, I feel frustrated, I feel happy, I feel sad with them. My score for this episode is a full 8, “Really Good”. Way to go!
And to think, that before the season started I thought it wouldn’t be so good, but almost “Fine” or “Good”. What a pleasant surprise.
RETURN TO INDEX
Tales of Zestiria the X S2 Episode 13 [FINALE] (8-)
Umu, so it ends. Studio Ufotable did the same thing for GOD EATER too… though in that case it was far worse. But quality has a price I suppose? (please stop the joke of “unlimited budget”, I really find annoying when people lower other’s hard work and efforts to simply “they had money”, or “talent” in other cases).
So, we were at the final confrontation with Last Boss. Sorey, as your usual MC, uses the power of bonds to overcome the difficultes and power up (though, dear Heldalf, what exactly were you waiting while he was transforming? Oh, I see. You too were stunned by the beautiful animations).
In a stunning and visually pleasing battle with lots of techinques, skills and other beautiful acts (added to the OP playing in the background) he’s able to finish off Lord of Calamity/Malevolence incarnated/Heldalf in five minutes!? …or not.
As expected from the last boss, he suddenly get reanimated, as you know, malevolence can’t really be finished off. Since it is infinite, to be more precise human‘s malevolence is unlimited, Sorey can’t do anything but choose to seal him temporarely with him, to slowly purify him. But he isn’t dead. Maybe we wil see him soon?
Then, as a last episode, we get to see how other characters continue to live their life after the adventure. Alisha became Queen, and seriously lool like Saber (just why the hell do I continue seeing Saber everywhere!? Is it because there are too many Saber faces in the Fate/ universe already!?). Woah, they become even more beautiful.
Hmm, I’m a sucker for these kind of endings. All is good, and thus The Legend was born.
Nicely done. I’m really satisfied. Although it seemed quite rushed (never played the game), and for weird reasons we got 2 episodes of Berseria, I enjoyed the series a lot. I rate this episode 8-, mainly because of the stunning animations though (as the story itself was only mildly interesting in my sincerest and humbly opinion). While for overall anime, I give it a 7.5, or maybe a little more. Either way, on MAL it will be 8 because there aren’t decimal there…
By the way, I seriously would like to write a post only for this episode. Too bad reality is seriously crushing me. What a pain in the ass it is. Why can’t I simply do the things I enjoy? I almost feel like I’m offending the anime…..?! What am I saying? I should visit a psychologist…

Clockwork Planet Episode 4 (7/8)
I’ll be frank. The setting is really interesting, and so are the characters. The thing is… the art. It’s not bad or ugly, but I just can’t take the show seriously while seeing it. That aside, after a first not-too-good impression (like most of this season’s show), I think it got on the right track in episode 3 especially. The love confession was incredibly cute. Their lovey-dovey behaviour is really cute too.
In this week’s episode, we see this love manifesting: after understanding that the purge can’t be avoided (why again?) unless with the use of RyuZu’s Imagery Gear, Naoto firmly refuses to sacrifice her (or taking the risk to put her in danger). This really hit me hard, in a good way. For some reasons I was pleasantly surprised, perhaps my opinion was low and I didn’t expect this? This is the joy of not dropping anime.
Everything to save Naoto.
Oh and, am I weird for liking these kind of epithets? “One who follows”. I like it. One who will protect his master for eternity. And thus, she sacrifice herself, saving everyone. But naturally she is saved, and awakes once again, just to be reunited to his beloved master.
Can you feel how I’m liking this? Oh, and it seems a new character will be introduced in next episode. By the way, I really like the OP too, and ED is nice (not as much as OP though).
Great OP scene.
In conclusion, Clockwork Planet keep rising in my humble opinion. From “Average” to almost “Really Good” or more. It’s a 7/8 for me then!
RETURN TO INDEX
Alice to Zouroku Episode 5 (7/8)
We continue from the appearance of new young woman, who came to save Alice. And holy kaw! if she’s strong. Episodes full of action are good. Really nice animations. Not to mention we get to see another “Gate of-” versus “Gate of-“. If you’ve watched enough anime, you will understand what I’m talking about.
I’ve seen firearms before, but hands? That’s new. But not really surprising, heck nothing will ever surprise me more than the glorious Keijo!!!’s HIP OF BABYLON with an artillery of asses. Seriously, go watch it and then read it.
Anyways, Shizuku is strong! Not OP like Alice (heck, you can create “anything”?!), but still really powerful: 666 weapons and 13 grimores! And from a Maid Mahou Shoujo! Oh, well. Tachibana’s Unlimited Hands Work get supressed and she is arrested.
Alice is also understanding that she wishes to become humans, to understand them, to be with Zouroku (this is really sweet, but it makes me feel weird somehow, …who cares?), simply… the wish to continue living.
Everything is nice and good now. I suppose we finished first arc? Well, I’m liking this series. It’s slowly getting better in my opinion. For now, the episode gets a 7/8 for me, a little more and you will be “Really Good”!

Rokudenashi Majutsu Koushi to Akashic Records Episode 4 (7.5)
Here’s the anime that surprised the most this season. After a bad first impression, it quickly gained my favour. Really recommend to not drop it after only one episode.
This episode starts a new arc, and we begin with a Magic Competition. Quite the happy and tranquil episode, which is good once in a while. But this peace, won’t probably last, huh. I’m hyped for the scenes of the OP.
Nice episode, although not as exciting as the 2nd or the 3rd, still good nonetheless! 7.5! “Good/Really Good” rating.
Ending card.

DanMachi Gaiden – Sword Oratoria Episode 3 (7.5)
Hm… to tell the truth, I’m not really expecting much from this, as it is a side series of the main one. Although I am interested in Ais’s side of events.
We also have another main character(?), a not too much expert caster who admires Ais. It reminds me of Misaka Mikoto and Shirai Kuroko from Toaru Kagaku no Railgun (spin off as well), though the Lefiya isn’t as aggressive as Kuroko…
It is actually nice seeing how the two series interwine though. Fumu, Ais get punished for training too late, and the punishment is a date with Loki-sama. But the date, is destined to be interrupted by Ganesha’s beasts outbreak.
Seeing Lefiya’s frustration really reminds me of Bell. Nice to see her resolve, always admiring Ais and yet wanting to fight at her side. Fight on… Summon Burst: it allows to duplicate an infinite number of other spells…!? Thousand Elf?!?
Lefiya, the Thousand Elf
I rectify, she has at least enough talent to be at her side. Bell (at least until what anime covered) isn’t really that strong (though his ability to get more EXP is great, but I’m a sucker for copying or nullifying abilities).
Hou? The monster they fought weren’t all form Freya-sama? This… is actually getting a little interesting.
Compared to the first two episodes, I like this more. Perhaps because we saw Lefiya’s growth? Umu, my score is: 7.5 “Good”.

Oushitsu Kyoushi Haine Episode 4 (7.5)
The episode seemed to be just like another. And it was for the first half, all the princes (well, almost all. As someone goes there already) take the first step in the city, to see first-hand their kingdom. After sightseeing, and stopping a purse snatcher, sensei enlighten them about the wondrous of their kingdom. Which I really liked.
He is then officially welcomed by the royal family.
Really nice episode in my opinion. A 7.5, halfway to “Really Good”. Keep it up!
RETURN TO INDEX
Tsugumomo Episode 5 (7+)
Ho. Tsugumomo. As a manga reader, I’m quite happy to see it animated, I was really worried about the censorship though. The manga is really, really good, especially the art, but it is heavily ecchi parts, and nonetheless the story is incredibly interesting. So, I strongly suggest to read it.
I like how the anime cleverly avoid the cursed steam or the sudden beams of light with various strategems, like showing only partially things, covering them with objects or showing it indirectly. That’s how ecchi should be. I would like to compare this well done element with the Sin: Nanatsu no Taizai’s one… if you ever watched the latter, you then can understand how painful is it to watch it.
Well, anyways. The episode. After the weakening of Kiriha, Kazuya is forced to train, as it seems like his skills during the battle with the Loli Water God were only a fluke. We also discover that the “girl” we saw during first episode was actually… school council president…. that’s huh.. unexpected.
Genius! Four-eyes-kun is a Genius!
Four Eyes-kun is also really likeable. Can’t help but find funny whenever he talk with Kazuya. Then an Amasogi trap them, but who cares about that. The matter is resolved thanks to MC’s training result and four-eyes’s great drawing skills. I really like his character. Oh, and I actually thought the place Loli-God-sama would go to, would have been Kazuya’s house. That was quite unexpected. Too influeced by the troupes I suppose.
Nice episode overall. I like it. Although nothing really extraordinary happened, I think it’s “Good”, or maybe more. Thus 7+.
RETURN TO INDEX
Uchoten Kazoku S2 Episode 4 (7+)
Heh, not angry at all. The new Tengu is simply too good. I fucking love him already. Nice to see Benten reaction too.
Fumu, we get to see a Shogi game with Tanuki transformed? Weird traditions, or maybe they are just bored? Huh. Can’t they enjoy a game without making problems? Seriously… another event is ruined once again.
Umu. Good as always. Although I really can’t relate to that free spirit/will of Yasaburo, as I’m chained down by reality. Though I like how he roots for his brother.
Wait, what? The Shogi set has a black hole in it?
It’s a 7+ for me, a little more than simply “Good”.
RETURN TO INDEX
Shingeki no Bahamut Virgin Soul Episode 4 (7+)
So, Azazel got his ass beaten, met Nina, hugged her and transformed her into the dragon. Umu. She really doesn’t remember anything while being little Bahamut, huh. Wait, I thought being able to transform into dragon was somehow connected to being Favaro’s student, but in reality she was an half? Wait, an entire clan of dragon exist
Oh, Holy Maiden! It’s so nice seeing Jeanne d’Arc. Also SHE HAD A CHILD?!? Have I forgotten something? Nevermind my memory, I’m a little conflicted inside…
Hou, did Azazel truly have a change of heart in after credits scene? Nah, I’m more convinced he’s just faking it, or everything is part of a greater plan.
My opinion of the anime didn’t really change much. I did really like seeing Jeanne again, but that aside. It was “good” in my opinion, so 7+.
Ending card:
RETURN TO INDEX
Renai Boukun Episode 4 (7+)
Ahh, one of the best colorful and funny comedy of this season in my opinion. As a manga reader, I went in already knowing what was I expecting (yandere+angel+kiss note+little sister loving onee-sama+little sister liking brother+rapist-demon-penguins+cat with human/angelic face+ero-sadists+etc. etc.), and I have to say, that I’m quite satisfied by what the anime adaptation delivered until now.
After a first part where we get to see Yuzu’s past, the show get really dark with Shikimi, the erotic-sadistic we caught a glimpse of during episode 3. And as expected from an S, she starts torturing our poor MC, who is immortal and can’t really die… uh. It got quite dark suddenly, didn’t it?
Nfu-fu-fu..
Oh, well. I quite enjoyed the episode.
7+, more than simply “Good”.
RETURN TO INDEX
Hinako Note Episode 4 (7+)
This series is just… so cute. As a slice of life heart-warming and soul-healing show, there really isn’t much to say (I may able to express my reliefs with weird noises though, but I don’t think that’s what you’re searching for).
The soothing tale of our scarecrow, continue in this episode with a training session of dance/gymnastics(?). Just to reveal the beautiful singing skills of Hinako-chan, which makes her eligible for the role of heroine!
Though I foresee some hardships with her shyness. Also, advisor going keikaku doori (just as planned) means she has some kind of solution?
Oh, and both OP and ED are quite catchy. Which is only a plus. The fact that you can find them on Youtube without the fear of them getting deleted at any time helps too.
Still “good”. As many others anime of this genre, it’s quite difficult to have the highest scores, but are easily in the range of “good”-“really good” anime (for me at least). So, a 7+ for now.
RETURN TO INDEX
Granblue Fantasy The Animation Episode 5 (7+)
Let’s talk about the mobile game anime adaptation then. The art and animation are quite good, so are the OST and the OP (seriously good). It was worth to wait for this quality.
Returning to episode 5, Gran and co. are going to confront Tiamat to save the island. Umu. It won’t be that easy I suppose. As expected, Tiamat doesn’t really like to be obedient, huh. Interferences perhaps? Yep, that purple crystal was the cause. Why do I find Tiamat cute? Oh, well. ALL 2D IS CUTE.
Beautiful AND cute.
Nice episode! I could feel the quality. Hm??? Why did I say that? No idea. For some reasons I can’t not notice the fluid animations. No seriously. I have no idea why the hell this is the first thought that came to mind. Oh, well. Who cares about that. We can finally say that the journey begins, Captain Gran? ED is also freaking beautiful. It makes me feel nostalgic for some reasons.
Anyways, a 7+ for me, perhaps more. So more than “Good”.
RETURN TO INDEX
Sakurada Reset Episode 4 (7-)
To tell the truth, I’m not entirely understanding what exactly is happening. But sincerely, I just said “screw it” at least a dozen of times. I will FEEL this anime, while trying to understand it, just like Aquation or Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (now, please don’t tell me you seriously went and analyzed how the fuck they were throwing galaxies as shuriken).
Anyways, after the time skip, I think I sterted to enjoy it a little more, but still quite uninteresting. Episode 4 blew my  mind though. I was really, really surprised by this turn of events.
From the ruthless choice of Kei to actually sacrifice himself (well not really, but he actually died so…) to the tears of Misora while seeing the scene but still doing nothing because MC didn’t “order” her anything. I was quite shocked.
!!! HOLY!
So, for this episode my rate is higher than the usual I give it: 7-. Almost a full “Good” for me. Nicely done. You suprised me.
RETURN TO INDEX
Kyoukai no Rinne S3 Episode 4 (6/7)
Well, Kyoukai no Rinne it’s already at season 3. So if you’re watching it you should already know what to expect from it. Comedy (usually average, but sometimes really funny) mainly about the poverty of the MC. Oh, and he’s a Shinigami.
By the way, he has a crush.
The episode this time is about part-timer clayrovant “Ane” and her crystal sphere, which it seems like it can malfunction as it is quite old already. Her peeping ball is the real thing actually. I suppose a new recurring character is introduced then? Well, funny as usual. So, my initial score won’t change: a 6/7, “Good/Nice”.
RETURN TO INDEX
Gin no Guardian Episode 5 (6/7)
Hm, to begin. I’m a sucker for short anime. So my opinion is already quite positive just for this reason. First episode was quite interesting, but mysterious. After episode 2 onwards, we get to see little by little the events that brought forth the fact of episode 1.
With this episode, we are basically one step away from episode 1 (what a weird way to say it). I’m also quite happy to see finally MC getting some “wealth”. Oh, and you get her father’s approval too! Condolences for his death, but I have to admit he was a great man. And thus begin the confrontation!(?)
I’m so interested in seeing how he got there.
Oh, and I like the Ending theme.
My score is 6/7, a “Good/Nice” rating.
RETURN TO INDEX
Berserk (2017) Episode Episode 5 (6/7)
Oh, Berserk. The manga masterpiece get adapted into anime. Wondrous news, right? Nope. Sorry to say, but I really hate adaptation that ruins the image of their orinal sources. This Berserk is a perfect example. The story is really good, and that’s the only thing that keep me invested. No, wait. The music is also quite nice.
My comments about this show will probably be the same for the whole season: great story, bad animation. I would really like to see this as an “anime” alone, and not an adaptation. Sadly, it isn’t possible. So, as a manga reader, watching this is quite painful. An anime isn’t formed by only the scenario or the story though… as a visual medium, art take a good chunk of its overall rating. So I can’t really give it more than 6/7, which is a “Good/fine” for now.
Just look at that beautiful art. It makes the original’s hide from its… peculiarity. Fuck it, I’ll just get used to it.
RETURN TO INDEX
Atom: The Beginning Episidoe 3 (5/6)
Huh. I wasn’t really expecting much from this show, and I have to say I haven’t been surprised yet. It’s quite average, even though enjoyable to a limited extent.
So, we get a detective and a race begins to resolve a case of lost robo-pet. Huh. Yeah, it is sweet and all, but can’t really say it was good. Last episode was better in my opinion. A 5/6 for me “Fine/Average”.
RETURN TO INDEX
Sakura Quest Episode 4 (5/6)
Umu. Sakura Quest… Well the story is about a job-crawling young woman, Yoshino Koharu, who get a job in the countryside to pose as the queen of the little town.
Our Queen isn’t pleased.
She didn’t actually read the contract and thus is now forced to work there for a year. Far away from her beloved Tokyo, as she seems to have some kind of thing against rural town? Well, anyways, after an initial confrontation she accept her role (more or less) and slowly remembers that she had been there once.
I think it was really uninteresting at the beginning, to only gain some pace with episode 3, but we returned to the quite average story-telling with this. It may because I watched this some days ago, but episode 4 is less memorable then the first to tell the truth. Not really much to say then, personally it’s more than average, thus a 5/6, almost a “Fine” episode.
RETURN TO INDEX
Twin Angel Break Episode 4 (5/6)
Showy, colorful, classical Mahou Shoujo!
The show is… quite average in my opinion. Although it’s quite colorful and OP is really catchy. So it’s not completely mediocre.
We have two Mahou Shoujo, thus the “Twin” in the title: Meguru (our MC) and Sumire. It is a true and classical Mahou Shoujo show, meaning, you won’t find darkness and despair like in other shows, which I won’t mention to avoid spoilers. And that’s why I do not find it exactly entertaining, it’s nice, but not for me.
This episode was more… eventful, it still wasn’t able to make me involved. Not memorable at all, the only thing I remember is that the “bad guy” of this episode was an arrogant self-proclamed dude, who, expecting all girls falling over him while talking about equations (I admit it, I actually found that part a little hilarous), fell in love with Sumire, our blue mahou shoujo.
It is not “bad”, but simply not impactful enough to leave a deep impression on me. Anyways, for now it’s a 5/6 for me. Maybe a little more. Since, even if it’s boring, if I were to choose between “good” or “bad” I would choose “Good”.
RETURN TO INDEX
Busou Shoujo Macchiavellianism Episode 4 (5-)
This episode, was truly disappointing. In reality, after episode 1, this show got worser. It was exciting to see the action scenes, but it then became full of Harem parts.
The sumo-part was barely enjoyable, but still somehow funny. The little laughs were quite unnerving. And the new soon-to-be-part-of-the-harem-loli, wasn’t really interesting.
Sorry, but this episode is less than average for me. A 5-, but after seeing first episode, and the meeting with Amou, I am really expecting it to get better.
Please save this anime.
RETURN TO INDEX
Sin: Nanatsu no Taizai Episode 3 (4.5)
Sadly, I’ve decided to stop writing detailed and with many pictures posts about this show. Mainly because writing so many posts is seriously taxing on body, and would rather refrain from just posting for the lols and ecchi pictures.
Now, first thing to know is: I quite dislike it. The amount of H is too much, but that’s not really the main problem, as there are shows with lots of ecchi that I like. The point is… that I can’t really see an interesting story here, or at least yet. Not to mention that I STILL HAVEN’T A NORMAL SIZED BREAST GIRL (between the main ones, that is)! Why do they just have to be so… obscene? As you may have noticed, I’m not really too fond of cow-sized breasts. Subjective point, but still relevant IMO.
Passing on the episode, what to say if… there was a great amount of H-scenes. Need to mention the pole-stripping-show-challenge between Levi and Asmodeus, who then becomes a Lucifer’s follower and beliver. Oh, and there was ecchi, other ecchi and did I mention the ecchi parts yet?
Ending card:
Remember to get the superior version.
Sarcasm aside, my vote score for this is a 4.5 I would say. So a “Bad-Average” show. Mostly because, i can’t really say I didn’t enjoy it, but you can understand how Ecchi isn’t what I’m searching for in an anime. It can be complementary, but it definitely can’t be the main topic. I still have a slight hope of the show getting better, or a real story.
RETURN TO INDEX
Kabukibu! Episode 4 (3)
I was actually expecting something like Rakugou… but this show… this show is actually really bad. Or at least, it has become a pain to watch it. And I’m really stupid to continue watching something I find bad, but I’m a masoc- no drop club member.
I belive, no I WANT to belive in the potential of all anime. Maybe in the ending this show will be amazin? Anyways for now you don’t get more than 3, “Very Bad”, sorry.
RETURN TO INDEX
Fuuu. And that’s done… not at all! I simply wrote the latest ones I watched! I seriously apologize to the episodes I wasn’t able to comment on, such as Grimoire of Zero, World End, Tsuki ga Kirei, Kenka Banchou Otome, Little Witch Academia, ect. Some of which I really like too! Damn it…
But I have seriously no time anymore. I spent so many hours basically doing comments/review/recommendation and putting them together, which wasn’t my initial intention at all! I just wanted to make a ranking, but then I thought it should be better to say why I put them in that order, and then for some reasons I wrote an essay…hahaha… at least you can see my love for anime, i want to hope…
See you next time, which may be not too soon. As I have to study for over 3 tests, nah, they will probably increase, as teachers just love to make multiple tests per month…
I can’t understand whether I’m satisfied or going crazy. I feel like both actually.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
Hope someone read this post…
I seriously have to revise the ranking post, or else I’ll die. While seeing the works of my more experienced senpai, the one I loved the most was Prattle-senpai’s: the choices of categories’ names is simply glorious.
So, if I will ever try this again, it will probably be different from this post.

Oct 9 (Stage 2)
Evening Session
Hao Rao (China) 17 y.o.; he's the one that said he's not here to win, but to develop.
Ballade in A flat major, Op. 47
Waltz in A flat major, Op. 34 No. 1
Barcarolle in F sharp major, Op. 60
Andante spianato and Polonaise in E flat major, Op. 22
Rec:
Sohgo Sawada (Japan) he apparently studies independently, taking part in various courses, and also studies medicine!
Andante spianato and Polonaise in E flat major, Op. 22
Waltz in F major, Op. 34 No. 3
Barcarolle in F sharp major, Op. 60
Scherzo in B flat minor, Op. 31: gentler parts were very melodic, with nice rubatos. Also very interesting almost-pauses in the second-to-last passage of main theme. I'm listening via radio, so I don't know whether there was a big general pause or he made some mistake?...
Rec:
Aristo Sham (China, Hong Kong)
Barcarolle in F sharp major, Op. 60: there were times when I honestly almost thought he's got three hands, because there was left hand with very well notes, then right with kinda polyphony that was quite broad.
Scherzo in B flat minor, Op. 31: once again I was surprised and inspired by hearing new notes in left hand---that part of the first theme where right hand's passages are imitated by left hand.
Waltz in A flat major, Op. 42:
Andante spianato and Polonaise in E flat major, Op. 22: the polonaise had interesting tempo, somehow flexible, but it made a good emphasis on certain notes. Loved the andante part, really gentle.
Rec: Barcarolle
Intermission---PR2: the presenters are amazed by the miniatures of Hao Rao, especially the waltz, that he played beautifully, with a great coda. | S. Sawada: he got more confident and maybe that's why he had quite a bunch of mistakes; maybe a bit too much emotions. Also unfortunate combining of brillante & brillante---Andante spianato and then waltz. | A. Sham: a gold child? Very virtuoso. Not emotional enough (which is important at this stage).
Miyu Shindo (Japan)
Ballade in G minor, Op. 23: she played the beginning quite slowly, which was very interesting; at some point I felt like the piano is buzzing when she plays lower notes... I couldn't tell you why, but something lacked for me in this piece.
Andante spianato and Polonaise in E flat major, Op. 22: during andante, I thought (and I'm serious!) about classical ballet and some adagio-like dances. Polonaise: very elegant, without rush. I know it's a long piece, but nevertheless as it progressed it lacked some drive, a fire, for me.
Waltz in A flat major, Op. 42: can't say much, but I guess I liked it.
Barcarolle in F sharp major, Op. 60:
Rec: Barcarolle
Talon Smith (United States)
Barcarolle in F sharp major, Op. 60
Berceuse in D flat major, Op. 57: very gentle, I liked the phrasing.
Waltz in A flat major, Op. 64 No. 3:
Andante spianato and Polonaise in E flat major, Op. 22:
Rec:
Kyohei Sorita (Japan)
Waltz in F major, Op. 34 No. 3: I feel like it was very fast!
Rondo à la mazur in F major, Op. 5:
Ballade in F major, Op. 38: very gentle beginning; then---a fire; controlled, but nevertheless.
Andante spianato and Polonaise in E flat major, Op. 22: I liked andante spianato. I liked polonaise, too, but I can't point out anything specific, so I don't know if that's a good rec. (what is a good rec, anyway)
Rec: Ballade
PR 2: today's theme: a Barcarolle and Polonaise Op. 22 duel. Hao Rao and Kyohei Sorita---no. 1s, a lot of spontainety. | Miyu Shindo: stage 2 programme consists of her fav pieces. A bit of uncertainty in her recital, probably because she's young, nevertheless she showed many advantages (rubato!). Barcarolle shimmering with colours (for the first time here?), sadly she couldn't hold the tension till the end. | Talon Smith: a controversial berceuse (mood? But steady left hand, good rubato, left hand theme was every time a bit fuller; bc of that not really a lullaby), waltz a bit blurred at the end. He was promising, but maybe physical condition? Polonaise: good plan, worse implementation. Interview with the pianist: you need to imagine crescendo for it to be steady longer. | Kyohei Sorita, a samurai: great Chopin-y rondo! Interesting ballade, with a great understatement at the end. Intelligently constructed programme: a waltz (a bit mazur-y) as an introduction to the rondo (à la mazur). A great transition between andante and polonaise (for the first time today), with a royal, sarmatian emotion (also a first one).

BNHA Rewatch: Episode 53 “The Test”
mysterylover123
In which not a lot really happens.
Tumblr media
We reopen again with Shoot Style. Gotta say, Deku’s costume Gamma is awesome. It’s even cooler than Costume 2. He spends this whole arc just being an irresistably awesome boss and a real snacc, so get used to this mode of talking about him.
Tumblr media
Kiri clearly agrees with me and runs over to fanboy over his crush some more, along with Kaminari.
Tumblr media
“Feeling all right after nearly killing me a second time, Bakugou?” That’s what Bakugou hears, anyway.
Tumblr media
“I’m someone who must be protected now” Oh man.
Tumblr media
The new costumes are so cool, even though they’re barely any different from the last ones. Kirishima has SLEEVES now.
Tumblr media
Class 1B’s here too you guys.
Tumblr media
Great to see the gals all chilling.
Tumblr media
Uraraka’s Annoying Crush Counter: 12. Once again, it’s someone else telling her her feelings are romantic, her denying it, and not actually figuring anything out, really, about how she feels. It’s getting exhaustingly repetitive by this point.
Tumblr media
Oh, but Mina did suggest it could be Iida, too. Nice job Mina.
Tumblr media
This bit I almost like, because it’s a bit of a new twist on the formula of the Crush Counter - it’s almost sweet, that she’s admiring him like this…but then I remember her evil counterpart is Toga, the stalker Yandere, and this was the song they played when Mineta was trying to peep on the girls in Episode 40, and there goes that. Dammit, I almost felt something.
Tumblr media
Now to the test day. Aizawa is so good he even comforts Mineta.
Tumblr media
INASA YOAROSHI! I’ll admit seeing him gets me hyped just a tad.
Tumblr media
Here’s what I literally said, the first time I saw this scene: “Oh, god. Todoroki is the Worf of this show, isn’t he?” (look it up on tvtropes). He totally is.
Tumblr media
Ooh Ms Joke! She’s like, one of the most OP female pro-heroes (compulsive laughter sounds horrifying) and a part of me wonders if she’s meant to be a good guy girl version of the Joker. Which would make Aizawa…Batman? Wow, that’s…interesting.
Tumblr media
Eraserjoke FTW!
Tumblr media
Yo Shindo looks like the BKDK kid from the future. On another note, I love how jealous Todoroki looks that he’s holding Deku’s hands.
Tumblr media
Hilariously, his bio reads in the manga that he was Hori’s first attempt to draw an “attractive” male character. So what, he was just stumbling into it with every guy in the series before this?
Tumblr media
Although he does look like Deku and Kacchan’s Fusion, so I can attest that he is indeed an attractive male character. Look at him flirting with BKDK and Kamijiro here!
Tumblr media
So I guess now is a good time to state that, the first time around through the anime, I hated this arc. Really, seriously hated it. I complained about everything in it, I found something to whine about in every single episode. I hated the slow pacing, I hated the random new characters who got so much focus, I hated Deku getting molested all the time by half naked girls, I hated the repetitive Uraraka Crush Counter thing, I hated that this arc’s premise was boring…
Tumblr media
I hated this announcer guy’s stupid bored voice (it’s more annoying in the English dub)
Tumblr media
I hated the setup of the exam being so boring (ball tossing!?! really?!?) and nowhere near as creative as things like the Battle Trial and final exam arcs.
Tumblr media
I hated the setting (brown, brown everywhere!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I hated that Bakugou and Todoroki apparently forgot 50+ episodes worth of character development and went charging off on their own like idiots (I got spoiled that they both failed, so I knew this stupidity was gonna get them in trouble and it made me mad that they apparently hadn’t grown up at all.)
Tumblr media
I hated how these other schools were convinced they were so all that and gonna give UA a hard time. Psh. As if.
Tumblr media
OK so I’ve gotten all my gripes (almost all) out of the way in one little rant now. Most of those were just frustrations I had at the time. The PLE arc was unfortunate for me, because it was the first arc I had to watch week-to-week instead of just binging, so it was easier for me to pick at chunks of it while I waited. On rewetting, there’s a lot of things I like about it. I will say that it’s the rare BNHA arc that’s actually, I think, better in the manga than the anime. There’s no filler, of course, it’s in black and white and it goes faster.
Tumblr media
And now to gush over something: SUCK IT YA’LL DEKU HAS LEVELED UP SINCE LAST TIME AND HE’S KICKING ASS AND TAKING NAMES NOW.
Anyways, that’s episode 53. I honestly think it’s really boring, just a lot of setup for the next arc and character intros, but it’s still HeroAca and it’s still a fun time. Again, not much goes on in this arc, so there’s not a lot to say other than “well, let’s see where this goes.”
BKDK CORNER
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at Deku doing everything better’n you Kacchan. Getting all the praise. Being the best. Let that simmer beneath the surface, since you’re no longer pissed at him for lying to you your entire lives (he didn’t figure that out until now) and wait to explode in a glorious battle. Let’s check the clock…8 episodes to go.
BEST GIRL OF THE EP: Ms Joke!
RANKER: Favorite Non-UA Students
5 Nagamasa
4 Yo Shindo
3 Saiko Intelli (anime only)
2 Inasa Yoaroshi
1 Camie Utsushimi (the real one)

Grimoire of Zero 10 - 11 | Royal Tutor 11 - 12 (FINAL) | Kado 10 | Boku no Hero Academia 25 | Tsukigakirei 10 - 11...plus summer 2017 anticipated anime.
Just gonna put this here so it gets more attention while it’s open.-> http://www.strawpoll.me/13311671
Grimoire of Zero 10
Geez, the staff pulled a Kado 0 - 1 on us here…i.e. the ending of one ep is the same as the opening of the next ep. It’s just to a lesser extent than Kado did.
Seriously, who is Him??? They still haven’t told us!
Welp, there’s my answer. It was too obvious to centre a 12 episode series around, I would’ve given a plot point like that about…3 or 4 eps, tops.
Grimoire of Zero 11
The thing about this show is that you can just turn your brain off and watch along. It’s a tad slow, but enjoyable and that’s why I’ve stuck with it.
LOL, I understand what it’s like to have “messy, wormlike handwriting”…
I don’t believe a wisp of that karate chop, Holdem. The hand was at the wrong angle.
Finally, the show gets funny again. There’s the Zero we know.
I love the sense of scale the animators have demonstrated with the spells. Just saying that before I have no more chances to.
Ooh! Oh, that man. I actually side with Holdem on this one, he deserved that punch.
“I-“ – Ooh, at that moment I got completely engrossed in the cliffhanger. Normally shows don’t cut off in the middle of a sentence, do they?
Royal Tutor 11
I can’t believe they forcibly took Gregor. Isn’t there some kind of legal offence for-oh wait. That’s called kidnapping. (partially sarcastic)
I’ve always found it interesting that the princes have to refer to the king as such, rather than “dad”. That seems to be a problem in every single piece of media you get about royalty, although these guys have a conscious sort of “I am no longer the king, but your father” (and vice versa) switch which is controlled by Viktor.
Oh, so it’s basically all the Dickensian stuff you get in Oliver Twist…(I haven’t read it, but you know how it is with classics *rolls eyes*).
Heine’s movements are believable, but there’s some suspension of belief needed for Viktor’s (because he faints a little too fast, I think).
Welp, this ain’t quite crying material, but I can tell there was a “climax” where the audience was expected to cry. Knowing this is anime-only material keeps my eyes dry, I guess. However, knowing that Heine’s resigned as Royal Tutor really made my heart drop…after all, this is the second last episode, and I’ve really had fun watching these princes and their diminuitive tutor.
Royal Tutor 12
Bruno really likes Gendo poses, doesn’t he?
Heine’s voice is great for a noob VA. It really sells the character.
I always thought “hai-neh” was a weird pronunciation, but that’s what it says in the katakana.
Seeing Heine tell others their strengths really makes me feel like I’m missing them already, in a good way. I’m not tearing up yet, but it’s real heartwarming and I know if I were in the same situation, I’d cry too.
“Goodbye” isn’t quite “excuse me”, but I guess it works context-wise.
This is one of those shows where “show, don’t tell” works well and I think the show’s nailed it for the most part.
University degrees don’t necessrily make good tutors. Any student knows that, especially in uni.
I can see why even the author cried at this now, even though I’m still not crying.
W-Who’s that? With the dark hair? Eins???
Ah, there’s my answer. It was indeed Eins. Why does he have dark hair???
Welp, there’s one finale for the spring season over. The anime staff really couldn’t have done too much about Eins, though, which sucks. Come back another time for a different show, ‘kay?
Kado 10
I’m in that weird stage where I want to like Kado, but because everyone’s jumped ship, I won’t want to like it either…what a weird thing peer pressure is. *feels like crying*
I feel like I’m in Superhero Project (one of my stories) where protag Keisuke wakes up in a white expansive room to be trained in his powers. Only this time, they gave the room fractals.
Interesting. It’s like an alien LINE convo.
Sarasouju tree…apparently, it’s this thing. Commonly known as “sal”. I’ve never heard of it, though.
“Humans are ephermeal creatures.” – You remind me of Haibara (Detective Conan).
“There’re guns everywhere in America!” – LOL, that sure ain’t the truth, as much as America has gun problems.
Let’s play another common anime game. It’s called “Spot the Main Character from their Hair Colour”.
(SPOILERS for White Parasite from now on!) zaShunina’s still teetering on “cuckoo” from his facial expressions here. It’s sad, because I wanted him to be mysterious and beautiful like La Luna forever...that’s why I killed La Luna off!
*sigh* Okay, evil mastermind pretender, put your hands back on and please just negotiate like you wanted to in the beginning. (*on the brink of tears* Hey, I realised something. I keep making comparisons to White Parasite, but people find it confusing. By making those comparisons, I seem to have almost jinxed Kado to be this way.)
*crying because Shindo* La Luna’s force of living was the goodwill that it used to create its powers. Does that mean the anisotropic run off trust in the same way? (By the way, please don’t resurrect Shindo. That would break the laws of reality as we know it – even anisotropic laws.) (end spoilers)
Welp, I guess not. B-But, my dreams just got ruined by Saraka kissing Shindo (although the Kado tag spoilered it for me anyway)…
Pffffft. Okkkkkkay, Captain Shang, hold up!
Shindo’s angry face at Saraka wearing his shirt had me dying. He really is Captain Shang.
Kado. You were so beautiful at first. I placed my faith in you. B-But you changed, and now all I can do is see you through as you become a cliché fest I could have easily created with my own hands. In fact, I did create a Kado with my own hands - White Parasite. So I am the one to blame…I will have to see this through as I have seen through White Parasite.
Boku no Hero Academia 25
Well, that certainly threw me for a loop. Between two forces of roughly even power, it’s unpredictable who’ll win, but the ability to humanise a character comes with weaknesses. I know that already, as a writer and reader of hero stories.
All Might is such a fatherly type. I don’t think I could write a character like him – both OP yet grounded at the same time.
Plus Ultra!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wait, the woman with red streaks is his…aunty? Sister? I’m not sure at all.
Aw, this Shouto segment was just too good. I’m worried about Iida though, because from the Stain stuff I’ve seen floating around, he will not take the defeat of his bro lightly. Also, amazarashi is coming in the next part of BnHA! I loved Speed to Masatsu, so it’s good to meet him again here.
Tsukigakirei 10
“An Encouragement of Learning” is a Fukuzawa work.
From Kawagoe to Chiba it really is about 2 hrs. Look.
Oh great. Bad CGI people strike again…
Monzenyokocho.
Did Hira have kawaii eyes just as the other people thrust trash at him?
Imokoi is a Kawagoe specialty involving…wait for it…sweet potatoes. That’s why the sweet potato mascot makes sense.
My eyes!!!!!!!! Bad CGI people stand out more in night scenes (compared to day scenes, of course).
Toki no Kane, apparently also known as the Bell of Time.
The “game” in question, that rock paper scissors, was probably a batsu (penalty) game.
I guess I should’ve guessed Kotarou would’ve gotten angry at Hira eventually. I just didn’t think it would be now.
That shot of Kotarou walking down the street looked a little awkward because it looked like he was walking on a flat surface when it’s actually slanted.
It’s not just my video, is it? Akane’s crying got sped up and that pulled me out of what was meant to be an immersive scene.
Chotto matte means “wait a bit”, but I feel like “I’ll be right there” is warping the meaning a lil’ too much.
Well, I never expected this show to portray anger. It pulled Kotarou’s anger off really well.
I never thought I’d see the day where Kotarou would rely on the potato mascot, either. I like a show that goes out of its way to be unpredictable like this. Too bad it came a little too late in the game.
Tsukigakirei is all about following the heart and not necessarily the mind, so this is a pefect way to show it.
Oh! That was another good unexpected thing, but then they’ve been teasing that since the fireworks. Too bad they kept part of Kotarou’s face hidden right after it.
This end of ep LINE convo is about a couple that can’t sleep, so one of them starts talking about their part time job…then it gets cut off.
Oh, so that’s how Sakura is related to the main events…okay.
Tsukigakirei 11
“To decide that I’m hopeless before I even begin is nothing but laziness.” - Wise words, Dazai.
Were there always two potato mascots at the top of 13.70? I think one appeared there when Kotarou first received his, actually, although I’m not bothered to look…
The people aren’t CGI now…or I’ve somehow gotten used to them…? Either way, they’ve stepped up their animation game (in exchange for ep 12 being late, according to a note on the CR page).
That’s a cute jumper, Akane.
The fact Kotarou changes his message is something I can relate with. Even one forum post can take hours to type, even though time is always never on my side.
What’s that purple thing on the onigiri plate? A pickled plum? No, those are red…
A “root for the underdog” story is a classic, so I can see why Roman’s rooting for Kotarou.
Hahaha…yeah, let’s just sat I can’t understand the science for the life of me and leave it at that. That stuff’s chemistry, I haven’t touched it since I was 14 or 15.
The stuff about circles appears to be on segments, equal angles and so on (you know how you find the angle of a triangle based on where it is in a circle? Yeah, stuff like that).
Oh yeah, I never thought this but…Kawagoe Seminar. It’s named like Sailor Moon’s Crystal Seminar, and for good reason – both are cram schools.
There’s a grade score near Kotarou’s wrist, so understandably he got an A in Japanese.
Parents aren’t like that, Kotarou. They don’t always hope for your failure, they just hope you’ll do well in life…says someone whose parents have aways supported them.
Instead of having CGI people moving, they’ve finally done 2D people. However, the tradeoff is that now the people are not moving, which is just as weird if not even weirder.
“PoPo” is such a weird name for a shop, LOL.
No wait, I take part of my comment about 2D people back. There is still CGI, it’s just less prononced now they’ve bothered to put in 2D background people as well.
That scarf goes well with his outfit…says someone who sucks at coordinating outfits.
Why not just talk with her when you’re ready, Kotarou? If The Royal Tutor taught me anything, it’s that it’s always good to talk things over if you can’t understand each other.
Aitai can mean “want to meet”(like you’re meant to do to make the fish a heart), but the ai is in hiragana (so it doesn’t mean anything) and the kanji for tai used means “red snapper”. As in, the fish.
There’s a lot of ganbaru (try your hardest) used in this ep, and Kotarou says benkyouganbaresou in this “Sorry it didn’t turn out so great” convo. The nuance is therefore lost in the translated version, “I feel like I’m ready to study again starting tomorrow”, although I can’t suggest a better alternative.
Yeah, Kotarou’s mother is right. If you have a normal sleep schedule, you’re able to work better, despite how great it may be to sleep in.
I get easily lost on public transport, so I understand the vibe Kotarou’s parents are giving off.
This ep’s ED LINE convo is two people (one’s a guy, the other I don’t know the gender of) talking about studying and, at the start of the convo, the guy’s mother being angry. At the end of the convo it turns out the guy’s notebook was blank (and that’s the punchline to the convo).
Well, I’ll confirm my lineup for summer here and now. Licensing’s already being doled out as we speak so some of the lineup’s set in stone already. In order of hype:
Definite hype:
Boku no Hero Academia 2* (carryover)
Katsugeki Touken Ranbu*
Reflection*
Nana Maru San Batsu
Kaito x Ansa (already binged Nazotokine to prepare)
Nobunaga no Shinobi ~ Ise to Kanegasaki-hen ~* (see below, carryover)
Medium - low hype:
Vatican Kiseki Chousakan
Princess Principal
Jikan no Shihaisha (seen the first chapter or so of the manga)
Isekai Shokudou*
18if
Youkai Apato
Clione no Akari
Konbini Kareshi
Zannen Onna
Asterisks mean licensing’s been confirmed already for me as of this post - I’ve asterisked anything confirmed to be by CR this season, because that’s likely to be worldwide bar Asia. Katsugeki is the only known show out of the asterisks that isn’t a CR stream.
Funi’s opened up its services to my region (due to the CR x Funi merger), I could probably watch 18if there, but 1) I feel like Funi doesn’t have a good enough player, and 2) I feel like it’ll show up on a service that has a better player.
You’ll notice Nobunaga no Shinobi, a carryover from the last season I previously didn’t care for, is on the list. I was looking at YouTube videos of people’s favourite OPs and I fell in love with Shirayuki (by Renka, it’s the OP for the current season) recently, so I binged the existing content in one day. However, it being a short series means it’s not eligible for simulcast commentary and I’ll have to make a separate ranking for short series once I make my year-end rankings (to include ~ Ise to Kanegasaki-hen ~, and because watching Kenka Bancho Otome has screwed my rankings over enough as it is). After all, my 2016 ranking policy was “a show I saw at least once over in 2016 and had at least one seasonal entry in 2016″, which if applied to this year would make Nobunaga no Shinobi eligible, but it would be unfair to pit it against any shows with standard 24 min eps.

Kado 11 | Boku no Hero Academia 26 | Hina Logi 1 | Grimoire of Zero 12 (FINAL) | Tsukigakirei 12 (FINAL)
I’ll just leave another reminder for this straw poll here, because I need a tiebreaker vote.
Kado 11
Even anisotropic beings have dreams? Welp, that was unexpected.
Uh, hey. Kado staff. Algerian people don’t all look like Asians, y’know? Google says Algeria is in Africa…
So, staff. Why is Shindo the only man/person/human who can stop zaShunina?
Oh yeah. Shinawa knows a way to stop the fregonics!
Basically how I feel about Kado is how Hanamori feels about the situation + Saraka right now – confused and torn.
(laughs) Thank…(face falls) you, Hanamori, for making me laugh with your mapo tofu comment and remember why I loved this show in the first place. It was fleeting, but good…Wait, but isn’t abduction against the law?
Uhhhh. Kado staff. The fregonics suit has boob space. Meaning a woman will wear it…awkwarddddddd…
Finally, we get back from our “shonen battle” roadtrip to drive to the final battle.
zaShunina’s like an old lady now, LOL. Reading on a rocking chair and enjoying the sunset.
Yeah…please just keep your lips away from each other, guys. I was here for the negotiation, remember?
Oh. That wasn’t a boob plate. I was LOLling at their idea to give that to a woman, because the one woman who needs that plate is Shinawa, whose job is already over. Good thing I was wrong there, then. It’s also interesting to note this suit looks like a gladiator suit…like humanity has reverted itself to medieval times to fight zaShunina, who represents the future. (I’m still laughing though, because I knew Shindo was hot under that shirt, but damn, I did get more than enough eye candy this season just by this one gladiator suit…and zaShunina’s butt.)
Well, I kinda did get what I wanted by having the Hanamori/Shindo ship broken, but even though I got a het ship (which I’m normally more supportive of), I don’t support this het ship at all.
It’s cute to see a floating pink cube act like a phone. Or one of those annoying fairy companions…
Welp, it’s almost over. See you next ep for the final simulcast commentary.
Boku no Hero Academia 26
Apparently BnHA’s on break this week, meaning I’m caught up after this.
There was a thing called work experience that we had to do at one point – that’s how I got the experience needed for One Wish They Never Wanted’s bookstore scenes.
It’s cool to see Eraserhead and Present Mic in the same situation as Deku and everyone else. Aizawa looked kinda bishie then, which is unexpected.
I don’t get the reference involving acid blood…
That’s nice. I already knew the names everyone was going to come up with due to the time I’ve spent on the wiki, but the homage becomes much more significant when you see it in context.
Dangit, Midnight. You stole my explanation thunder.
I always wondered why Shouto never got a better hero name. So he literally just used his own name, huh?
I wanna cry at the Iidas’ plight but I have no tears, dangit!
I don’t get it- what’s the “air chair exercise”?
Gran Torino. I’ve watched the movie that has that name, it’s about a vintage car (Ford Gran Torino), an old guy called Walter (Walt for short) and racism. I always suspected Walt was the reason Gran Torino (hero) was named thusly...but until Horikoshi says something about it, we’ll all have to keep speculating…(By the way, the racism perspective in that movie resonated with me, despite my not being a Hmong person. Maybe I’m not properly acknowledging it, but it might be one of my inspirations for Half-Paid Heroes…?)
Hina Logi 1
I have come here to hate on this magical girl spinoff, because man, Luck and Logic squandered what could have been a very good plot – it was “pretty but no substance”, to quote a past me. Indeed, it’s because magical girls are my passion that I have high expectations of new entrants into the genre…
Okay, what is this? Hogwarts???...Actually, the best match, right down to the white turrets, would be Alfea of Winx Club.
It’s stoic girl, Ojou-sama + companions and Shinawa-lite. See? Stereotypes, although I ribbed the names from ANN (having read it a few weeks before I got here). However, before I read ANN, I’d already predicted this would be a pile of road apples.
I feel like I should know who Nina is (from ANN), but I didn’t get far enough to familiarise myself with Nina in the original Luck and Logic, haha.
This genki glutton girl is basically gender bent shonen cliché, y’know? Serve me something slightly different, and I’ll be a happy camper.
I can’t believe I laughed at Nina going “my teacher told me to”, because I expected it.
The humour isn’t funny in this for the most part…the eyecatch says, “16th May. Fluffy! (Fuwaafuwaa!)” “Fluffy” of course being in reference to the messed-up hair.
Urgh, this fanservice is driving me up the wall and giving me a headache…
Ooh, nice transformation sequence!
Enough with the yuri between Nina and Lion! Gah!
“May 16th. From this point forward,  [Kagura] became very angry.” (I had to Google the teacher’s name. She’s so insignificant this episode, I can’t even remember it…)
Lion’s face is getting more annoying by the second…
“May 16th. Everyone ate heartily.” (I used the word “heartily” because I didn’t have a better substitute for oishii in this case, but *shrugs* I don’t care either way.) The use of itadaku I’m still fairly new to, so hopefully someday I can use the word with confidence…
“…reminds me of my mommy.” – Gah, Lion. Are you a toddler? I imagine you with a toddler’s tone when the subs say that.
“Send your beloved Hina on a journey.” – It’s actually a reference to something. Check this article’s title for what it is. That’s a Japanese proverb which says to not baby your kids too much.
I feel like this is a pretty clean drop. After all, if I rage for all the wrong reasons (and come out with a slight headache in the end), you know that the show is a drop.
Grimoire of Zero 12 (FINAL)
Thirteen’s with the crew at the end of the OP. Huh.
I have the feeling that Holdem will never kill Thirteen, even though that dogface is trying to stab the sorcerer right now.
Intruders,much? It’s an army!
It seems like these animal fights were meant to be a big spectacle but observe the background animals and see how off model they are. That’s how much care was put into what was meant to be the show’s climax this ep.
I would’ve loved to see Mercenary do a Batman backhand. Those are always cool and sometimes funny.
The cloud and white-frame animation look gorgeous in a sakuga way! Now we’re talking!
Having someone die solves nothing. It is only those who need an outlet for blame that require needless death, am I right?
Ohhhhhhhh! One kiss made at least 2 or 3 people jealous, LOL.
I wanted to see Mercenary as a human. He could’ve been real hot…dangit.
The ED song is real cute and iyashikei. I don’t think I’ve properly listened to it until now, so…good on me for doing so, haha.
Tsukigakirei 12 (FINAL)
Tsukigakirei’s been a middle ranker for me most weeks, so to suddenly get better around the time when Kado fell was practically begging for the two to switch places…(Note: I’ve made a personal ranking for each ep in a document I’ve kept all to myself, and I haven’t posted them online. That’s why I’ve had comments that indicate where shows are on that ranking at the start and end of an ep’s simulcast commentary.)
That sparkly shot of the river is in the OP too, so when there was a shot of Kotarou and Akane, I was disappoined I wasn’t seeing the OP (even though I still think the live-action bit is a lil’ weird). It’s cute how those guys are wearing the same jackets, though.
There’s a water thermos in the back of Tachibana’s (glasses guy’s) bookstore.
Kotarou’s dragon background is so cool. I want one.
The thing with the rhino doesn’t translate well. The word for “goodnight” here is oyasuminasai and rhino is sai, so…yeah. I think it would be better to call it “sleep rhight” (including typo) to convey that pun better, but hey. I’m not going to major in Japanese.
When Chinatsu revealed she got into the same school as Kotarou, I verbally went, “Oh no!” Don’t you remember how I was with ep 7???
Even Chinatsu has that black jacket, so it seems to be a school-issued one.
My heart just broke a lil’ bit as Chinatsu hugged Kotarou…I’m not sure what to make of it…
I’ve never seen “graduation” being abbreviated to “grad” unless it’s “grad school” and the “grad” in that stands for “graduate” (noun). It’s a very American term, so I never use it, but…the term translated to “grad” is “graduation ceremony” (sotsugyoushiki). Seriously though, CR. Enough with your Comic Sans translations.
The translation of the prologue misses something. The first sentence has da to omou at the end, meaning “I think…”.
A novel board. Y’know, like Honeyfeed. I’ve got quite a lot of experience with ‘em, because I don’t intend to be a person who gains money from writing…not fulltime, anyway.
There’s a site called Syousteuka ni Narou which is basically Honeyfeed for a Japanese audience, with the added bonus of possibly getting your works into print and then anime. The recently announced Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari, as well as Re:Zero and a lot of its kin, have come from that board. It’s pretty clear that Syousetsuka is being parodied here, that’s all…even though the titles of the websites are completely different phrases.
What’s that bird with the long neck called? The one standing in the water? I wanna know…
Normally with anime tears, it’s like me and CGI - I bash most efforts. However, I think this is the effort that I commend the most so far…this anime season is full of surprises…Well, Kotarou? Can you keep up with a girl that does track?
Everyone cries when someone leaves, so long as that person has made an impact. I know that all too well…
Dangit trash CGI people. Just as I got used to you, you become obvious again! Grah!
I admit I shed a few tears there…I’m not crying, you’re crying! (Also, if you haven’t paid any attention to what I’ve been writing, One Wish They Never Wanted was based on similar experiences to Kotarou and Akane’s graduation, although a lot of it happens outside Takuma’s point of view and so I didn’t write it.)
Oh! Hey, these are the end of ep LINE convos from previous eps, coupled with pics of the ones who typed them! The “seaman” convo would’ve made more sense if the translator would’ve bothered translating the word “semi” (short for “seminar”) as it was, because that makes more sense. I really don’t get the “marr” one though.
Well, any show that makes me cry on its first run is a show I don’t regret. I still feel weird putting Kado below it, because Kado was betted than Tsukigakirei for most of its run (as I’ve said at the start of this commentary). Regardless of what happened though, I guess…I’ll see you all for the next show then! Bye for now!

Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga 12 (FINAL)| Classicaloid 25 (FINAL)| Boku no Hero Academia 14 | Kado 0 - 1 | Oushitsu Kyoushi Haine 1 | Sagrada Reset 1
Update: I apologise for all my updates within the spring 2017 debuts. I had stuff due prior to the spring season and so I’ve gone all out in compiling my thoughts and then comparing my thoughts to ANN’s.
(Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga 12)
“Monkey”? I thought it had to do with Todo (whose first name is Saburota, remember, and so could be mangled to become saru or monkey) but I guess…not…?
I thought Shiemi was gonna do a love confession! Where’d Nemu go while all the action was happening though? Plus, Nemu reminds me of Yuji Yata (Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service) and vice versa.
Super Coke and Panta, LOL.
I can’t believe they’re so willing! I remembered this happened but now that I see it animated, it seems a little too fast!
Anmitsu is a red bean dessert – you hear about it for the Kashuu/Yasusada ship in Touken Ranbu (it’s what the ship is called, due to kanji readings). Kuzukiri though…I haven’t heard of it, so here you go.
I never knew you could use the fact Rin is the son of Satan for humour. I never knew it could work, either.
If kemono = pickles…then what are Kemono Friends?! *gasps* (LOL, I kid, I kid…)
Okay, now the “son of Satan’s gonna torch you” gag is tired. That was fast.
What’s a Tawawa? Isn’t that “Tawawa on Monday”?...No? I guess it’s the name of the tower’s mascot then.
Yukio with his straight face, LOL.
Is it “quality brother time” or “brother quality time”? I think it’s the former.
I can finally read Rin’s shirt now. It says “teriyaki” in katakana.
Well, that’s the end of Blue Exorcist for now. See you some other time.
(Classicaloid 25)
Oh, that’s why there are aliens in this show…
It’s interesting to note they used the Bird’s Nest for Beijing rather than Tiananmen Square or the Fobidden City.
So Kyougo was in China. Geez, these stereotypes are a bit hackneyed…
Tchaiko’s so depressed when Bach appears. It makes sense though.
“It just doesn’t strike a chord.” – Perfect phrase for a Classicaloid.
Disco Bach. Now that’s something you don’t see every day.
I haven’t noticed there were white musical notes on the eyecatch until now.
I was wondering why Hasshie, Pad-kun, Kanae and Sousuke were rigged up like how they were in one of the s2 visuals. The reason…let’s just say, I LOVE IT! I’m not entirely a fan of 6th rangers in general, but I love transformations, remember? Rare transformations are all the better to watch again and again!
Doot-doo-doo-doot-doo-doo-doo-doo-doot-doot-doo-doo-doot-doo-doo. It’s Ode to Joy!
Like, look at it. The October airing was definitively confirmed! See you again in October, then.
(Boku no Hero Academia 14)
I skipped the simulcast commentary on the recap episode, as I always do. Disclaimer: I wander around the BnHA wiki a bit so expect to see “I knew that already”s all over the place.
Dang, Deku looks eeeeeeevil in that one intro scene where he’s all lit up.
Those taiyaki (fish-shaped buns) look tasty…
I’ve seen some spoilers so I know Toshinori Yagi is All Might’s real name and All Might’s predecessor (who I thought was the recipient of the letter) was a woman named Nana. Thus, beard man must be Gran Torino, All Might’s mentor.
Katsu, LOL. Ever since YoI, I can’t stop thinking about Yuri K after seeing a pork cutlet.
Best Jeanist (1st person in background), some guy I don’t know…and Endeavour. Spoilers can be annoying like that.
I knew why Ochako became a hero too, but...her name means “carefree”? Never heard that one before.
They say that if there’s a leaf sticking up in your tea, it’s good luck…I think that’s how it goes with green tea, anyways.
I don’t think I’ve seen BnHA go and do a fanservice thing with its girls until now, which 1) is odd for a show with a teacher called “18+ Only Hero Midnight” and 2) simultaneously makes sense as an all ages hero anime. The emphasis in this show is on the action and on Deku, not just the girls, but going to the girls for fanservice only now does kinda show how the audience has grown up enough for this ED trope to be ued.

I’ve been hyped for this ever since I found out it was coming. I do have my doubts about the CGI, but somehow I know this work will be good. Besides, it’s my first fully CGI work in the simulcast commentary – I can’t really let that sort of chance go while I can still do it (because most 3D CG anime are Netflix exclusive). Update: Why have I covered an episode 0? This one seems important to the plot, that’s why. (Well, admittedly...they had to have an episode 0 for a reason, right?)
Ooh, that OP’s real pretty and the language (the one “Ninovo” is written in) intrigues me.
I knew I’d be fine with the CG – if there’s CG everywhere one instance of CG doesn’t stand out – but I wasn’t expecting to be dipping my toes in something so…adult.I was expecting the government affairs, but land restitution? If it weren’t for Shizuna-whatshisname and what came before this, I’d be gone, y’know? (Come to think of it though, anime can make even adult things like taxes engaging, so if you gave me an engaging anime about taxes, I’d take it. After SGRS, I’m more open to this sort of mature content, too.)
There’s been a picture on ANN of Dantalian no Shoka and the dude in it looks like Masayoshi (Samurai Flamenco). When Hanamori is shocked and leaning to the side, he looks like Masayoshi too…
I’d like to know how to make those pleated tail birds.
Strangely, this anime is more flat than I thought a 3D CG anime would look. Update: I raised my eyebrow at the part where Shindo pulls the suit pants off Hanamori, but it kinda made sense to me since Hanamori was drunk...at least it’s better than lucky underwear (Marginal #4).
What could be bigger than a land reform project? Oh, I dunno, aliens? (clearly sarcastic)
It’s not even Google, it’s Setten, LOL.
Chicken nanban. Seems tasty. I also didn’t question this until now, but this is MLIT.
Mac laptop! Dangit!
Hanamori is such a shonen protag, I swear he is basically Masayoshi in disguise as a Cabinet worker.
Hanamori’s face in the commemorative photo, LOL.
Uh-oh. Things are starting to look more CG now…
The ED is kind of a disappointment after the wonderful showing I got from the OP and the episode…plus Hanamori is kinda annoying with his “Shindo-kun!” “Shindo-kun!”…one thing’s for sure, this is one show to keep an eye on…for the moment, at the very least.
(Kado ep 1)
UN?! Wow, Shindo’s crazy good at his job…
Sometimes opening sequences of shows (not the OP, but rather the opening few minutes of the show) can be recap-heavy, but at least Kado doesn’t do that.
Interesting to note CR chose metres as opposed to miles, as I have huge gripes about Detective Conan getting all its measurements turned into miles and inches…
Tokyo Netro and NNK, LOL.
“Have there been any casualties so far?” By the way, the government uses Windows. I wonder if any Japanese people use Linux? Update: I did find Kanata Shinawa at odds with how she lead the government, but at least she knew what she was doing.
Ferrofluid.
Overtechnology – it doesn’t seem to be a dictionary word, but it seems to exist in Macross. To quote this page: “Many of the technologies of Overtechnology are stables of Science Fiction, such as Hyperspace and Artificial/Anti-Gravity.”
AP rounds. The AP stands for “armour piercing”.
Yay! Finally whatshisname appears! (I’ll just call him Shunina for now, since I can’t keep typing out his name or “whatshisname” all the time…) Update: I knew Shindo was the protag, but if you went in without that knowledge, you’d mistake Hanamori to be it. Huh. It’s sort of a good twist, but if they could do without Hanamori, that would make the show even better.
(Haine 1)
Why am I interested in this? It’s obvious from the key visual…
Nice use of perspective/camera tricks to fool the viewer, eh? The show really is kinda charming in a Kuroshitsuji-type way, actually.
Leonhard gives the burn straight! Ow!
Leonhard is basically the twins from Boueibu…? Especially Haru.
Licchie? Or Licchan? (did not use volume) I wonder if CR’s getting in on making English equivalents of Japanese nicknames now, too. Update: Licht is ri-hi-to, so it might not actually be CR’s fault there…
Playboy??? *thinks about the magazine* Ew.
Strangely, Kai’s was the funniest introduction out of all 4. (Or was that not strange…?)
Basically Nanny McPhee but with a teacher and students…LOL. Actually, it’s more Denpa Kyoushi, but Denpa Kyoushi doesn’t seem to have this atmosphere.
Come to think of it, maybe this was adapted because of the popularity of Osomatsu-san?
Tschuss.
This is…actually pretty funny, but it seems a tad lackluster because of the dulled shoujo-esque colour scheme. On the other hand, Leo really is both twins from Boueibu in one!
Sachertorte. I’ve heard of it before but I forgot what it was. Also, I didn’t think Japanese people would’ve heard of sachertorte. Witness the mighty skill of the internet to connect the world!
I had a vague suspicion that the reason Leo didn’t like teachers was because of how they treated him (specifically put him on a pedestal) because he was a prince, but there was always this sad feeling lingering since the interview began, as if I understood him.
I have the feeling the word for “language” specifically was kokugo, but since they speak Japanese and don’t confirm their setting is German in any way, shape or form (even though there are hints to the contrary), let’s go with “Japanese” as the national language.
Wiener melange? Or just a melange? By the way, tagebuch.
It turns out I do understand Leo…”I’m not good at socialising” is me to a tee.
Notice Leo called the tutor “Heine”, meaning this may not run off Japanese honorific standards.
GDI, priest guy (Bruno, since his reading a book there makes him look like a priest).
Ooh, the Alphonse Mucha style ending really does the show a favour, although Heine singing makes this a lil’ cliched in a weird way you just don’t expect from this show. Apart from that, I’d never think people would idolise Germany the same way they do Japan…unless 1) they have a person related to them who is/speaks German, 2) they like German food or 3) they like German technology (which is top-notch, to my knowledge). I’m kinda neutral on German stuff myself, so if I follow this I wonder what’ll become of me. Update: Oh yes, no. 4) They are German themselves.
Carrot, bell peppers and sachertorte? Ew.
Well, I’m keeping this show on. It better not let me down even though I only narrowly decided not to pick it for the ANN streaming stuff. It’s not a groundbreaker, but it’ll definitely be nice to have around…
Update: I forgot to mention I was vaguely disturbed by Heine’s reading of Leonhardt’s diary (mostly by the fact Heine found the diary in the first place - who puts an unsecured diary in a place that’s a little too accessible?), but since it didn’t do much damage to anyone but Leo and it was entirely played for comedy, I wrote it off. If it were a serious show, I may have had to bail.
(Sagrada Reset 1)
I dunno why the English translation is Sagrada when the Japanese is Sakurada. It just doesn’t make any sense.
Didn’t the character descriptions say Sumire was gonna die???
David Production – those Jojo’s guys? I don’t think I’ve seen anything from them until now.
Ugly CG cars, ick.
Haruki’s power reminds me of Erased except this exposition dump here makes her sound pretentious.
I would expect Haruki to be the android.
Was the “please let go” meant to be funny? I almost laughed before realising how serious Sakurada Reset is.
(without volume) Haruki’s so lifeless I expect her to disappear any moment now whenever Kei looks to the side. (with volume) I still think she’s lifeless…
Well, at least they explain why she’s so lifeless…by the way, I seem to remember I wrote a story like this: Next to Me.
August 14th, the day of Kagerou Project, LOL. I watch too many time travel shows.
No one rides swings. You sit on the swing!
Even though I can tell this show will go through some themes very thoroughly and the animation is consistent, it’s a bit of a chore to watch. I was waiting for the end of the episode about 17 minutes in, so I’ll put this on hold (because of the Mari twist near the end – that at least shows promise). The Sumire part doesn’t seem as convincing animation-wise though, which is disappointing as that’s the main plot of the show, right? Update: The reason why I label it a chore is because it’s hard to read the subs on this sometimes, the animation is limited and because it’s easy to miss Haruki’s resets - I actually missed the first one.
Update: Just a note on my preferences - the reason why I think such a show is a chore to watch is because I prefer shows with a distinct personality and/or charisma. Sagrada seems to have a personality, but it hasn’t become fleshed out yet because of all the potential under the surface, and it lacks charisma because of how serious it is.
