came across some "female transformers don't exist!/they're robots they don't have gender etc" stuff on twitter. honestly wouldn't have found it if I wasn't scrolling through the profile of someone I discovered (they were talking about how stupid it was).
and it reminded me of this one tfp fanfic I read back in like. 2016 or 2017? on ffnet where the author said the "don't have gender" thing and wrote both Arcee and Airachnid with he/him pronouns. it bugged me so badly I could only stand to read a few chapters. honestly a pity cos aside from that One Thing I remember it being pretty good.
I do like the trend(?) of taking traditionally male characters and making a female version of them, like cyberverse cosmos and swoop and earthspark skywarp. I've also seen a bunch of fandesigns that do it too more recently! We need more of both just as much as we need more focus on femmes that aren't as often used as Arcee/Elita-1/Chromia/Windblade. Vibes, anyone? I love her bunny ears!
when will splendid yellow convoy (female optimus prime) get some time in the spotlight. she got time in the legends comic but she needs something more mainline

Guess it hasn't been shared here but the covers of the unpublished Collision Course which was suppose to be idw's last title but it was already too late. What I found most interesting is that Starscreams shown on the two covers are his Regeneration One self as that universe was cutt off from the rest of multiverse. There's also how multiversal travel would've been harder to do now as a result of the Shroud in the Fun Publication stories. Apparently there couldn't be any Bayverse stuff as Milne said they needed Paramount's permission which sounds unfair and the fact that a lot lore involving the Multiversal Thirteen was rooted in there. Apparently other stuff couldn't be used as I see no Unicron Trilogy stuff besides Armada Megatron and no 2001 RID. I guess Gobots are also included even though they are canonically Transformers in their realities
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Grimlock vs BW Megatron cover could've tied back to the idw beast wars comic as the Dinobots had gone missing over there and Megatron was next to a protoform x that was seemingly Grimlock. Optimus is in some kind of "Energon Universe" in both one of the covers and a page by Tom Scioli along with Megatron from the 2014-2016 tf vs Gi joe comic returning from Dream Valley from mlp
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Least Milne described it as the tf equivalent to Infinite Crisis though at the time of the tf multiverse, there isn't really an equivalent to the anti-monitor besides Unicron but Unicron hasn't a multiversal singular being in almost a decade so not his death was causing the death of the multiverse like with the Black Hole in Cybertron. Most multiversal threats had already been dealt with by Vector Prime and something like the Hytherion only eats dying worlds so their decay doesn't spread to others

Bob Budiansky has said that he named Ratchet after the less-friendly medic Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
Ratchet_(G1)#Notes
Nurse Ratched (full name Mildred Ratched in the movie, also known as "Big Nurse") is a fictional character and the main antagonist of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, first featured in Ken Kesey's 1962 novel as well as the 1975 film adaptation. A cold, heartless tyrant, Nurse Ratched has become the stereotype of the nurse as a battleaxe.
Nurse_Ratched
Oddly, his handwritten notes refer to Ratchet as "her" and the Autobots' "go-to gal" for repairs. While this obviously was not the final direction the character took, it is an odd coincidence...
Ratchet_(G1)#Notes
Well, I remember bringing up that question early on with Hasbro, "are any of these female?" And then I think Hasbro's attitude was, "this is a boy toy. We don't wanna have, you know, girl robots." So, I said, "OK, just want to clarify that." Bob Budiansky, Rusting Carcass interview
Female_Transformer
[...] Her rough language and manners belies the stereotypes associated with her sex [...] She's more prone to giving her leader, Optimus Prime, a lot backtalk than the other autobots
Close-up of Bob Budiansky's original handwritten bio for Ratchet
A battle-axe is a derogatory traditional stereotype describing a woman characterized as aggressive, overbearing and forceful.
Battle-axe_(woman)
Agreed. I only hear Jeffrey Combs as Ratchet these days. He's the best Ratchet IMO" —Alex Milne, Twitter, 2016/04/03

Louise Fletcher as Nurse Ratched in the 1975 film adaptation

Combs is also known for playing a variety of characters on multiple Star Trek TV series, most notably recurring Deep Space 9 villain Weyoun.

Fletcher had a recurring role as the Bajoran religious leader Kai Winn Adami in the television series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993–99).

Hey I really like your Bumblebee has a beautiful singing voice 😍 now I can think of his teammates catching him sing like that one scene from cuphead and Mugman with cala Maria if you haven't seen i can show you the video lol do you think you can do of how his team react to watching him sing please and I think you're a pretty awesome writer truly one of the best thing I've read
AYY FIRST ASK! WELCOME!
Also thank you, i usually keep my ideas to myself so am glad you wanna know :3
ok so- Team Prime hearing Bee's golden voice!
Sari: The founder of the whole ordeal with Bee singing, she somehow convinced Bee to play a karaoke game with her and that's when the train went off the rails. She'd beg for him to sing her a song, a lil tune or a lullaby to bed, but so far she hasn't succeeded.
Optimus: He actually overheard Bee sing while playing with Sari when doing datawork in his corner. He was kinda impressed with the scout's ability and mentioned it few times in a conversation with said bot. Bee acted odd whenever he mentioned it so he didn't pry.
Ratchet: It's short ball with the old doc, if he ever noticed Bee humming he brushed it off cuz he got more important things to do.
Bulkhead: He once caught Bee singing along to the radio and complimented him, oddly enough Bee never done that again. BH suggested few songs that Bee might like but Bee never sang them. He's just confused why his lil buddy doesn't wanna show off such talent.
Prowl: He actually eavesdropped Bee singing a song in Bee's room and then annoyed him about it the next day, asking him to sing something. [just to get back at all the times Bee annoyed him about his poetry]
and finally, Blitz, cuz this was meant for BlitzBee in the first place and i cannot leave the crazy dancer out of this. [This is the original]
Blitzwing: I was changing the idea a bit and i think he wouldn't know it was Bee singing, he'd just sit and listen, get unintentionally attached and then find out. He would 100% just start dancing while Bee sings 2016 disco songs. He'd totally try to duet him and fail miserably cuz his voice was not calibrated for such thing no matter how hard he tries, sorry blitz.
When they get together later, Bee defo sings him a love song or two whenever they're all alone.

So, I recently heard about McFarlene Toys doing something within the Transformers brand recently and through some Googling, I find that it's apart of this line called Page Punchers and I find an image like the one above. So, what the heck is it? What you get are two comic books, two three inch scale figures of Optimus Prime and Megatron and some kind of stand thing. Now, before I get into what's actually here, when I heard of this I assumed that the two figures would be based off of characters from the current and ongoing Transformers comics from Skybound and Image comics.
But, what I am seeing is definitely not that and I am going to break down the figures first. Megatron is so wildly missing paint that it bothers me, plus this is the IDW design of the character, which I like a lot. But like, the pieces on the side of the legs are supposed to be black, his hand are supposed to be black, his mid section should have a darker grey and some red, and same for the area around his head too, dark gray with red. He should have light grey on sections on the knee pads, his feet should be light grey and the section right above the feet should light grey also.
Prime should have silver on the tanker bit on the legs, some yellow on the crotch sections and his ear things should be much longer. They really skipped out on painted these figures properly and it really disappoints me, especially coming from McFarlan Toys. Prime also doesn't come with any accessories either! No blaster, no axe, not a damn thing, especially when Megatron still has their fusion canon, it's not really fair if you ask me and makes this Prime feel kind of plain and boring.
Now, the comics. As I said, I was fully expecting this to come with issues from the new Skybound series but it doesn't. Instead we get the first issue from the 2016 Optimus Prime series by IDW and we get the first issue from 2016's Lost Light by IDW. Now, this doesn't bother me but I don't think that this makes sense. Why not include the first issue from your brand new series??? You'd get more people interested in the new series if you did but, what do I know? There have been many people that have critized Disney for not making an emphasis on comic books at the height of the MCU and I fairly certain that Todd McFarlane is one of those people so, it really surprises me that for this Page Punchers thing they'd base the figures on IDW designs and include comic books from the IDW Transformers era.
These don't release until the end of April with a price of $17-$18 which, given the lack of paint on both figures and the lack of accessories on Prime, that seems like a little bit much for two three inch figures and two comic books that are now seven years old. I do want to go this just to see if the figures are any good since they are fully articulated and stuff and see if it's actually worth the price. for me, it probably won't especially since I already have that issue and all of the issues from the Optimus Prime series so, yeah.

Quality wise (ie plot, characterization, narration), could you rank the idw phase 1 comics? Is RID good?
I'm a bit confused by this as because RID by John Barber is not phase 1, so I'm not sure if that question is besides the phase 1 one, if there's a confusion about when RID was published or if there's a confusion between IDW1/IDW2 and phase1/phase 2. So sorry, but I'm going to explain what it what just to make sure we're on the same page.
IDW1 or IDW05 is the continuity that spans the main comics published by IDW from 2005 to 2018. It's also the one called just IDW because when it was publishing there wasn't another IDW continuity and people called it that. It's divided by the editorial in 3 phases, I will try to summarize:
Phase 1, started in 2005 with Furman's -ation series (Infiltration, Escalation, Devastation) and some spotlight issues, after Furman the main writer became Shane Mcarthy with All Hail Megatron, and then Mike Costa took over with the 2009 ongoing called just The Transformers. There were other comics and mini series that took place in this continuity during this time, including Last Stand of the Wreckers, which is considered the best of all the phase 1 stuff
Phase 2, begins in December 2011 with The Death of Optimus Prime one shot, this starts the post war stage with John Barber and James Roberts writing two concurrent sister ongoings called Robots in Disguise and More Than Meets the Eye respectively. This marked a shift in the comics and popular opinion is that this is when they started being actually good (and I'd agree, but more on that later), there were more mini series, one shots, mini series and spotlights published. In 2014 they changed Robots in Disguise's name to just The Transformers so it wouldn't be confused with the 2015 cartoon and that's why the fandom calls this whole ongoing "exRID". Later they brought Mairghread Scott to write the Windblade series.
Phase 3, in 2016 Hasbro went on to make a "Hasbroverse" with all the new licenses they got, so this phase is full of crossovers, this was not a popular move. They also decided to relaunch all their main titles, even though they continued the same story. The Transformers (exRID) became Optimus Prime, More than Meets the Eye became Lost Light, and Windblade became Till All Are One. Till All Are One was the first series to end, it was all wrapped up in an annual and a year later Optimus Prime and Lost Light also ended. The last chapters of Optimus Prime occur concurrently with the Unicron miniseries, that was also set up in that comic, with the whole continuity ending in 2018.
Being done with it, IDW launched a brand new continuity from scratch, led by Brian Ruckley under an ongoing called just Transformers. It wrapped up in 2022 because Hasbro lost the license, but it had a good run, I think. Fans call this IDW2 or IDW2019 for lack of a better name.
Now to answer your question.
Obviously the #1 best comic in phase 1 is Last Stand of the Wreckers and I say this very confidently because it just doesn't have anything approaching competition. That comic is very good and everythign else is... well, is bad. You asked for my opinion and they're bad.
Characters are flat, execution is boring, plots are mediocre, dumb and usually deeply reactionary and then there's the racism. There are things I enjoy about them, some moments, some ideas, the fact that I'm lore obsessed and I filter my reading of those comics through the lens of what came after so I project aditional depth that originally wasn't there. I won't say is all unsalvageable, there are concepts in them that are pretty good, some are key to my interpretation of the whole continuity. But if you as me if on their own they are comics of quality, no I can't say they are.
I can be fun to see the ways they fail, but I don't think about them enough to confidently rank them from the top of my head, I would need to re-read them all and I... don't want to do that.
I'd say Stormbringer is the best one on the basis is the one I have less issues with and even if it can be a bit dull and the narration tries to hard, it's just 4 issues. Really, the -ations are probably the best of it, but don't quote me on that.
The worst is probably... Mike Costa whose worse crime (besides the racism and all of that) it's that is all so uninspired while also being the longest running. It's just a constant stream of empty dolls going through the motions of doing a comic that's not fun and doesn't make sense. Again it has its moments, but I feel like most of the interesting stuff from it got picked by Barber who actually made something out of it, and on that topic...
exRID is so good. I love exRID. I like it more than Mtmte at times, I certainly like Optimus Prime more than Lost Light and I'm the kind of person that puts a lot of weight on a story's ending. I will use Mtmte as a point of comparison not to throw shade but because I consider both of them of the same overall quality and the "best" IDW1 has to offer (I mean also the Wreckers series, but that one os made of 3 entries thatw ere thought final and not an ongoing, so it's different).
Character-wise, exRID is not as strong as Mtmte, not because it has bad characters, but because it's more plot-focused. A lot of Mtmte's charms comes out of characters interacting and bouncing off each other even in the more plot-heavy parts, and it has kind of a sitcom-y feel. That is not something you will find in exRID, and I think that's why a lot of people who first read Mtmte are dissapointed when they pick up exRID. It has less space to breathe, not that it doesn't have interesting dynamic or funny moments, it's just that moment-to-moment Mtmte is more enjoyable, and Mtmte's dialogue is just so good.
While exRID has a much more utilitarian approach to characters, where everyone serves a specific purpose towards the overall narrative, they have enough characterization and personality to not be flat and give their actions meaning most of the time, althought everyone is kind of a jerk, exRID it's very sympathetic to its characters. Even when people are being unreasonable, they usually have a point or a reason to feel the way they do. For the most part, the narrative really isn't concerned in having someone be "right" and everyone is some manner of flawed, even the Autobots.
This results in a better narrative econony and thematic consistency, which is really where exRID excells at. Barber had something he wanted to tell and focused on achieving that, while Mtmte kind of starts falling apart at the seams due to everything JRo threw at it and some of it's main characters felt like their arcs were dropped. I feel much more satisfaction towards exRID/OP as a complete story, it does feel like, for the most part, ever small part of it contributes to the whole. While Mtmte deals with the war and it's consequences, the setting creates a distance from it, so it's more about how the characters process it on a personal level (and on this sense, it fails when it tries to work through it on a bigger scale it's not designed to handle), in exRID the consequences are very physical, the peace threatens to break at any moment and the plot is carried out by how characters react to these circumstances, for which we get very different perspectives. Really most characters just want to be safe and happy, but given their story, getting along is not so easy.
Now, problem is that to get the most out of most of exRID, you really do need to read the bad comics of phase 1 (and some of phase 2) and Barber is a continuity freak. Which honestly works great for me, but no so much for other. It is genuinely interesting to see how Barber tackles some of the concepts introduced earlier, especially when Optimus Prime re-enters the scene, as he's a fascinating character work that tries to consolidate all the other writer's portrayals. Similarly, the Optimus Prime ongoing took the brunt of all the Hasbroverse crossovers, which range from good, to mediocre, to bad. You can probably follow the plot even if you don't read any of that, but it does make much more sense if you read all the side stuff.
I'll stop now. But yeah, that's my opinion, I hope you found it useful.

Dat’s right, People, it’s time for ‘Keef watches TFP and you just get the notes!’
This is for season 1, episode 20: Partners
Please reblog or comment on this with your thoughts! I really want to know what your opinion of the episode was!
I write down the timestamps, but I watch Transformers Prime on Stan (an Australian streaming service) so they may be slightly off.
ALSO! I try my best to note points for every character, but tend to get a little caught up by Bee (although I think I do a pretty good job with the notes regardless) so do be warned.
Little confession, this is one of my favourite season 1 episodes. It’s up there with Sick Mind. There’s going to be a point where I write down a scene deconstruction that carries on across multiple points, so I highly recommend reading this!! You'll be able to tell what part I'm talking about because it's got the most continuous screenshots.
~~~~Transition~~~~
00:03 - A r k + the clouds tho
00:09 - 2016 YouTubers apologising for being literal criminals be like:
00:16 - I would like someone to make a fic about Soundwave’s inner dialogue during moments like these.
00:46 - Kinda surprised that he actually w a s talking to Soundwave. He would be aware that Starscream’s just sucking up t get Megs off his aft, right?
01:20 - this is actually a very good set up. Rather than the Autobots and Decepticons just coming upon it, they actually establish a quick explanation to it.
01:26 - all that movement makes Starscream look like he’s in a video game
01:29 - NO. That zoom, the way the camera follows her, The background. Airachnid is 100% supposed to be in a video game rn.
01:32 - I like that shot. I wanna redraw it.
Tumblr media
02:00 - Starscream, my dood.
Tumblr media
~intro~
02:50 - So beautiful
Tumblr media
02:56 - Ignoring how out of place Arcee looks, she’s absolutely right.. expect that there’s no body there.
03:10 - the lighting makes Arcee’s face look beautiful.
03:24 - she gives ya whiplash here doesn’t she? Doesn’t give you enough time to be sad.
03:29 - I don’t understand why she looks so out of place.
03:33 - Oh no… all the flashbacks from ‘Predatory’
03:45 - pardon?
03:47 - Preen: devote effort to making oneself look attractive and then admire one's appearance.
04:01 - I think they gave Starscream the wrong face in this scene.
04:07 - Lore
04:25 - as apposed to doing it… with Mercy?
04:34 - of course he would!
04:36 - obviously.
04:36 - height difference my beloved. I also laughed a bit too hard for a bit too long at the shot. It’s just.. she’s so short, but then there’s also her arms XD
Tumblr media
05:07 - I’ll be honest, I’ve never understood people who got flustered when a character says something cruel. Then I heard the way Starscream said idiot and I’m a little flustered.
05:12 - MM DELICIOUS. Explanations and a setup.
05:22 - A cut away of just Ratchet and Optimus, which also proves Starscream right? Sign me up.
05:29 - I feel conflicted. On one hand Optimus talks. On the other he used a metaphor that is not effective. ‘The past always catches up with the present’ is talking about decisions (eg actions or words). + This is Optimus’s first line of Dialogue since Operation : Breakdown.
06:24 - This is what Starscream said to Soundwave.
07:02 - LOOK AT HIM. HOW DOES HE HIDE! ANSWER MEEEE!
Tumblr media
07:05 - I just realised.. this is the first time we’ll be seeing Airachnid interact with Optimus and Bee (although he shows up in Predatory, she runs away rather than attempting any confrontation.)
07:21 - 1. The way he says 'wait' is such a fatherly pronunciation. 2. O0O she doesn’t listen. 3. She does a backflip. (IYKYK)
07:44 - *sigh* and here we have Arcee being an idiot. Going against Optimus’s orders, fighting Airachnid and doing a scrap job at it.
08:01 - *falls over* *dies* Optimusssssss yessss
08:05 - unlike Arcee, Airachnid listens to Optimus.
08:13 - this is a parallel to Operation : Breakdown. In Operation : Breakdown, Bulkhead took on Breakdown alone. Optimus hadn’t given instructions, so the decision was made by Bulkhead’s judgement. It was not a good call and Bulkhead got hurt, so Optimus had phrased it ‘Engaging the enemy on your own was foolish, Bulkhead’. In this episode Optimus gave instructions but Arcee didn’t listen. She didn’t get hurt, but the risk had no reward. Airachnid escaped regardless. Because she wasn’t hurt and technically did delay Airachnid, Optimus wouldn’t have been as harsh but is obviously still upset.
Tumblr media
Operation: Breakdown
Tumblr media
Partners
08:29 - I’m so done with Airachnid and Arcee’s rivalry. I will forever repeat this. They have one of the worst rivalries in the show. Arcee has a reason to be mad at Airachnid, but Airachnid has no reason to be mad at Arcee. They don’t have respect for each other and they can’t manage to put aside their differences for anything.
08:35 - Hoooo mama… His voice has me shaking fr fr.
08:45 - This shot lives in my head rent free
Tumblr media
09:27 - For everyone who wants to right a fic about TFP Starscream swapping sides, I recommend using this moment as the point where your fic should start. + Although Starscream’s logic seems flawless, the Autobots are just as in the right to not accept him in/do it with much skepticism.
09:35 - This gives off ‘when the adults are talking’ vibes.
09:39 - ‘When you have to sit at the kids table, but you realise that the 12 year-old is more mature than you’
Tumblr media
09:51 - there’s something so perfect about this conversation and Arcee’s beliefs specifically.
10:14 - Kinda forgot she existed for a bit.
10:34 - I’m just gonna.. lie down for a minute.. He’s so cuteeeee.
Tumblr media
11:04 - MMM MMMM BEAUTIFUL. When the leader has genuinely good moral coding✨
11:10 - Damn do I love Optimus.
11:16 - The nickname, the drag, the everything. I laughed for a full minute.
11:46 - there are a lot of parallels between this and Operation: Breakdown.
13:37 - Oh do I love a proper fight scene.
12:41 - Bulkhead getting caught first makes sense. The hardest to fight hand to hand, but also the least agile. Naturally Airachnid would get rid of him first.
13:09 - He sounds a bit like Scar talking to baby Simba.
13:15 - you can see Arcee’s conflicting emotions. She hates Airachnid, but she also hates Starscream. Then there’s that little bit of delight in Starscream’s misery (and a part of me wants to say feminism)
13:32 - to quote Miko from Masters and Students.. ‘whoopsie’
13:49 - Kinda glad that she worked it out so quickly.
14:37 - he’s not even looking in the right place
Tumblr media
15:23 - oh damn.
15:33 - MMM YES. THE GOOD FIGHT.
15:51 - he ran over to his father ;0; though the smarter move would’ve been to stay apart.
15:52 - then he just stares at a rock-
Tumblr media
16:04 - then there was one.
16:08 - No! Go back to the good fight.
16:32 - *clears throat* Arcee’s an idiot. She’s fighting in revenge and anger. Her judgement’s clouded already. Decepticons get their advantages by getting into the heads of autobots. They’re more likely to win the more clouded and chaotic their opponent’s mind is.
Tumblr media
16:35 - and now we have the opposite side of the coin.
Tumblr media
16:43 - Airachnid’s trying to get into Bee’s head. Exactly what Starscream was doing. If she gets into his head, Bee’s hiding and fighting will be worse. Once he gets hit the autobots will loose. Airachnid cannot win in combat against Bumblebee. They both know that. What she also knows is that, unlike with all her fights with Arcee, Bee isn’t fighting for a personal gain, he’s fighting for a cause. If he was fighting with his emotions, he’d be aiming for her to loose, but because he’s fighting for a cause his goal is to win. (It’s trying to kill someone vs trying to stay safe. One has a higher chance of succeeding than the other)
Tumblr media
16:58 - 1. HAH. SO THEY CAN SEE HIM! 2. She knows she’s found a weak point because Bee revealed himself slightly. She made an impact on his thinking as his emotions became slightly involved at the prospect of Bulkhead and Optimus being in danger.
Tumblr media
17:17 - As much as her confidence is expected, if she didn’t believe she had gotten into his head, I bet she would’ve been more cautious to provoke Bee. Thinking that she is in his head is why she’s continuing to taunt him.
Tumblr media
17:40 - in actuality she didn’t get into his head. Rather she got into her own. She became sloppy and less aware of her surroundings.
Tumblr media
17:54 - Bee was still fighting for a cause, rather than with his emotions. By Bee not being effected by decepticon mindgames, Airachnid fell victim to her own tactics and lost.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
18:05 - She had no advantage physically, mentally, nor emotionally. Bee had the complete upper hand.
Tumblr media
18:06 - Now we have the opposite. Arcee’s fighting with her emotions while Starscream’s fighting to win.
Tumblr media
18:12 - Starscream’s got nothing to lose, while Arcee was acting out of rage.
Tumblr media
18:18 - exactly.
Tumblr media
19:11 - Now Arcee absolutely could win and that we be thanks to fighting with her emotions. I agree 100% by that idea except-
Tumblr media
19:13 - for the fact that her emotions got in the way once again.
Tumblr media
19:14 - Bee, my sweet baby child, is another variable in Arcee’s emotional charge. Arcee fought for Cliff, fell for Cliff, and was about to win for Cliff,
Tumblr media
19:17 - but couldn’t bring herself to kill for Cliff. When it was just Starscream’s words and her unbridled rage, Starscream was Cliff’s murderer. When it was just her and the bot that took away Cliff, she would’ve 100% killed him. When she realised it was now her, Starscream, and Bumblebee, another bot that lost someone close, but would never deem that enough to snuff out their spark. That is when she couldn’t kill for Cliff.
Tumblr media
19:27 - this is about to give you guys whiplash because of the stuff above but… There’s something so beautiful and smooth about that slide.
19:35 - wtf is up with this shot. It’s so pretty.
Tumblr media
19:45 - now we all should be laughing at Airachnid, the con that failed completely. She got in her own way and lost miserably.
19:52 - that’s a little fruity ngl.
20:03 - mmm pretty
Tumblr media
20:04 - that was a pun-
20:08 - I totally forgot that Bee was the only one properly functioning… Which one are you taking?
(Red pill- Fic where Bee actually did get hurt during the episode and is just hiding it.(Physical pain).
Blue pill - Fic of the mental toll that dragging two paralysed teammates and another badly injured teammate through the ground bridge can have.(Angst))
20:16 - for a two-wheeler? I’m trying to think what the human version would be. It’s not so much ‘for a girl’.. maybe?
20:26 - If only TFP writers took that advice. *looks at the episodes that have no recovery arcs for certain characters, then looks at the the episodes that have no recovery arc specifically for Bumblebee*
20:42 - *falls over* *dies* *again*
21:13 - now imagine he followed that line up with ‘a little bicth’
- rip/g
That was Partners.
Honestly I like this episode. It brings out the capabilities of Starscream and Bee, as well as bringing out the worst of Arcee and Airachnid in a much better fashion than before. It shows us what happens when a character has the upper hand in all aspects of a fight vs when the do not. Fighting to win vs fighting to make the other lose.
It’s one of the episodes I think best displays just how bad (as in not well put together) Airachnid and Arcee’s rivalry is, while also putting in a bit more perspective to Airachnid’s side of it. She fights Arcee because she knows she can win. Anyone else and she’s gonna lose. Arcee’s always in over her head and let’s her emotions get in the way.
The episode is a bit of a roller coaster for Starscream, but in the end the conclusion is ‘Starscream’s a manipulator and a really good one too.’ Not because he got into Arcee’s head, but because he managed to convince Optimus that there was hope for him.
Then there’s Bumblebee. Ah~ Sweet little Bumblebee. A bot of few beeps because he gave him nothing to say. He carried his team during the episode. Being the only one to not get hit by the immobiliser, the one that managed to fool Airachnid leading her to turn his back on him, which lead to her defeat and snap Arcee out of his murder daze in time to not kill Starscream (regardless of if he deserved it or not) and to conclude the episode there was not a word or gesture of gratitude from anyone.. really makes your blood doesn’t it?. I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t one of the eps that fuels my angstier fics.
Generally though, I like this episode.
Now like I said at the top please reblog or comment on this with your thoughts on the episode and of my points!
Unpopular Opinion
I think the playing of Optimus Prime as a cop was probably the most on-the-nose thing I've ever seen. We got to see what a corruption of power looks like from a Cybertronian perspective that eerily resembled our own political unrest after the events of 2014-2016.
I can't even get into his relationship with Shockwave, because I honestly don't care about Optimus. He's a part OF the system that's suppressing others. How can I root for someone who's still actively benefiting from a system that crushes others?
And then wonder why someone went absolutely furious about the broken system?
Nah, miss me with that.
Anyway, shout out to the OP players here that make him 3 dimensional and a hell of a lot more likable.
So recently, some people said they still remember/love my Optimus Prime/Mikaela fic I wrote back in 2016, called Redline:
“Mikaela wants to practice driving stick, but what happens when an attractive Autobot leader is your instructor?”
so I thought, in light of that, I’d actually make the fic a proper playlist, since it’s been, idk, YEARS. so here’s a little one I threw together (and am sorta still throwing together, orz, it’s a WIP ok):
So you can consider this this thing’s official playlist or something I guess. It has a lot of 80’s synth, because tbh, that’s mostly what I listened to when writing the thing. But yeah. Cheers to the nostalgia of a tale of a heart-throbbing desert chase in pursuit of love and lust between our beloved Autobot leader and his quirky gearhead female driving companion, Mikaela
📓 :3
I had to go browse my gdocs folders for an answer to this one, but here's a Transformers fic that is technically, like, half written, but I started it back in 2016 and the chances of it ever actually getting finished are pretty low. But I open the document every now and then, reread it, maybe add a few words, and it's still sitting in the back of my brain.
This one gets a little messy with different threads being pulled from canon and other fics and headcanons, but stick with me.
This fic has a title, partly because it I did, actually, start writing this: in the dark, a light
As for the setting and such: Transformers. Giant robots in disguise. Optimus Prime, Megatron, etc. This fic takes place on Cybertron, before the war leaves the planet, before the OG animated series, before the movies, before Earth. So no humans, just sentient/sapient robots.
There are some fics out there that play with Transformers and the occult, the Cybertron equivalent of ghosts and boogeymen. I don't remember now if spark shadows was something I pulled from those fics or if they just inspired it, but a spark shadow is kind of like a malevolent ghost that would roam around and kill a mech and eat their spark, their heart/soul, in an effort to return to life.
There is an Autobot, Jazz, who is commonly portrayed as a spy or saboteur. And he doesn't get a whole lot of screen time, though he's present in several of the various franchises, but he's very fun to play with in terms of background and such. So I thought, what if spark shadows are real, what if Jazz is a spark shadow, except that spark shadows aren't actually ghosts, they're an actual type of creature on Cybertron, just ones that live way down deep in the planet, near to the core, and they're an old species, old enough to have become a legend up at the surface of modern Cybertron. And so he's just kind of pretending to be a transformer like the others, but he's got additional senses and capabilities, things that lend well to him being a spy and saboteur.
And there is a Decepticon, Soundwave, who is often portrayed as the Decepticon spymaster, with casseticons that are small animal-type mechs that he carries around with him and also serve as spies and saboteurs. And there's nothing special about him, he's a normal enough mech, but he's the enemy.
And that's a lot of background for a fairly straightforward plot: What if, during a battle, a surface level of Cybertron gives way and Soundwave falls down, deep enough that he can't get out on his own, and he's injured? And Jazz comes down and finds him, only he doesn't kill Soundwave, he saves him and leads him out of the old, dead and unused layers of Cybertron. But along the way, Jazz has to use his spark shadow nature to keep them safe and it's his knowledge of the innermost sections of Cybertron that let him lead Soundwave back to the surface. And Soundwave is seeing this and making observations and starting to put together the clues into an answer that should be impossible, but clearly isn't. And the ending will be them getting back to the surface and parting ways, but now Soundwave is aware that Jazz is some sort of primordial creature that shouldn't exist and it's really all just one big what-if character study, lmao.
I'm not even sure if it's a shippy fic, it might end up being just gen, but I really love the idea and maybe someday I will poke at it enough that it will become a real, finished fic. Someday.
Here is the whole character-roster for a made-up fighting-game I've come up for a squeal  to my CN-Fighter, a crossover fighting starting characters from some of Cartoon-Network's animated shows. The game idea will have some returning characters, along with some new faces, but it will feature a story involving the cartoon, Max-Steel (that aired on Cartoon-Network in case you're wondering).
Here's the basic story of the game idea: The Cartoon-Network is in danger again, this time it's under threat from then world-eating alien, Makino and his Ultralinks, so Max-Steel, the hero of that world, gathers up the heroes on the universe to help him fighting, however, Makino along with his herald, Miles Dread gathers up this world's villains to help them fight the heroes.
Returning Characters:
