Okay so here's my BBC Ghosts dnd au and what kind of character I think each ghost would play!!
This au was inspired by s5 e4 "En Français" where the ghosts realise they're starting to get bored with their routine and want something new. When I watched it I was just thinking these guys need to start a dnd campaign then they'll never be bored, so this is where this au comes from!
Disclaimer: I've only seen a couple episodes of CBS Ghosts but I know there is an episode where they play dnd but I don't know much more than that so any similarities are a coincidence! :D
So first off this campaign is for the ghosts only, Alison and Mike don't seem like the type to play and it'll give them a little break from the ghosts.
Pat would probably be the best choice for our dm, he probably knew about it when he was alive. Thomas would ask but the others would NOT let him. Pat would make a great dm but honestly godspeed to him the ghosts are hard enough to keep under control dming this game would be a nightmare I can't imagine it would last long. If he wasn't dming though he'd probably pick a halfling ranger, que the arrow jokes (nock the arrow jokes???)
Fanny would be a human, no doubt about it, she wouldn’t want to be anything else. And out of all of the classes I feel like cleric probably suits her best.
Captain I was initially going to say is human but I think he deserves to be a little brave and explore a little and play a half-elf, he’d also obviously be a fighter.
Thomas would be an elf bard. Julian would be a drow bard. Thomas is a bard so he can perform and Julian is a bard so he can sleep with people. They hate eachother and compete to do charisma rolls. Also it was my sisters idea to make Thomas an elf as a reference to Mat playing Elf in Yonderland, a connection I wish I had made lol
Robin would be a tiefling wizard. I picked tiefling because they’re the outsiders of the main races and honestly the implications make me sad :( He would definitely be a spellcaster and wizard makes the most sense for him
Mary would also be human and she’d be a druid, 5 potatoes high and all
Kitty would ask if she could be something like a fairy but Pat would probably only know about the main races. Kitty would probably please please please her way until Alison looks it up and confirms that dnd does have a fairy race for her to play. I honestly can’t decide on a class that fits her but I feel like the ghosts would give her little brother mode and she just gets to do what she wants
Humphrey would be a gnome so everyone else can still pick him up and I want to make him a warlock for no reason other than it’s funny to me. Like he is often the comic relief character in the show so it would make sense if he’s the one to break the pattern of their race and class being based on themselves and just have a random class. Also imagine “I cast Eldritch Blast” in his voice
The plague ghost wouldn’t play but I think they could get them in for one game to play a sort of rat king type character they have to fight or something, they would have a lot of fun. They also would have the coolest campaign of their own down in the basement
Also if each of them chose a background it would be this:
Pat - guild artisan maybe??
Fanny - noble
Captain - soldier
Thomas - entertainer
Julian - charlatan
Robin - outlander
Mary - folk hero :(
Kitty - noble
Humphrey - hermit
#I love this au#playing dnd vicariously through the ghosts#bbc ghosts#ghosts bbc#ghosts#bbc ghosts dnd au#them there#six idiots#bbc ghosts au#bbc ghosts pat#bbc ghosts captain#bbc ghosts fanny#bbc ghosts thomas#bbc ghosts julian#bbc ghosts robin#bbc ghosts mary#bbc ghosts kitty#bbc ghosts humphrey

How I would approach Franchaela if I were in the writer's room
It's not going to be the same story as the books, none of the seasons have been, but I think it still has the potential to be great. Unlike others, I really loved s3 (aside from a couple of gripes) in fact, I think most offline people enjoyed it, so I'm not super worried about where the show is heading. It's never been prestige television, just a fun, frothy romance.
If I were to write Francesca's story I would do it this way.
Have Francesca and John settle into a happy and loving marriage that lasts the entirety of s4, alongside her friendship with Michaela. I don't want Francesca to entertain what her feelings might be outside of admiration and maybe a desire to be more like her. It doesn't have to ruin her story with John unless they want it to, and giving that much power to a minute or so of screentime feels like a mistake.
Francesca's season isn't happening until about 2030 so there is a lot of time to flesh out this storyline in a satisfying way if the show is lucky enough to last that long (and considering it will be one of the few certified hits left on Netflix once Stranger Things ends and the cast is more or less rotating, I can see it sustaining itself all 8 seasons unless something drastic happens). I think it shouldn't even enter her mind that she might be queer until after John is already gone. In this time period I think it's realistic that it just wouldn't dawn on her fully.
John dies at the end of s4 or the beginning of s5 (I think I'd prefer the latter), a heartbroken Francesca leans on Michaela for support, but Michaela starts to lose trust in herself so she leaves like in the books. I'm all for army nurse Michaela, bring on the badassery. She'll replace the hole in my heart that Claire Fraser left when Outlander got too cool with slavery for my liking. End tangent.
In s6, after a time jump, Francesca decides to remarry due to her desire for children, Michaela returns, perhaps for some unrelated reason, or perhaps because Francesca reaches out to her hoping to reconnect and garner support in her search for a husband. Francesca's feelings start to come to the surface but she denies them, setting her sights on a man instead, but she is unable to connect with him due to her feelings for Michaela, which she finally acts on mid s6. Considering Michaela can not give her a child I suspect they'd both feel a great deal of angst over this, but decide to commit to each other anyway.
The two women begin to bond with an orphan that they later take in, the kid can be present for the whole season or the latter half.
They can also kill John off at the end of s4 and have the time jump take place between s4 and s5 since they sort of play fast and loose with the timeline anyway and every season is separated by two years. That way Francesca's search for a husband and burgeoning feelings for Michaela can occur alongside Eloise's season, and s6 can be exclusively belong to Francesca, Michaela and their adoption of a child.
As much as I liked the book I think some very good drama can be mined from Francesca's queer awakening and am looking forward to what they do with it. Also, Violet's acceptance of quiet love very much could have been for herself as much as Francesca, seeing as she's pursuing a new romance that is simply nice and uncomplicated compared to what she had with Edmund. But again, time will tell. The story doesn’t have to play out exactly in this way for me to enjoy it, I’m excited to see what they cook up regardless.
#franchaela#francesca stirling#francesca bridgerton#michaela stirling#john stirling#sorry i really don't know where the hell this bridgerton hyperfixation came from#i went from being indifferent to this show to kinda hating it to it occupying all of my thoughts so quickly#i think the addition of hot sapphics plus the bitter loss of arcane is what did it honestly#and i know people wanted masali to be sophie and so did i but i simply like this better#probably in part because bwwm romances just aren't that novel to me anymore#i'm of course not against them at all but there are just way more of them now than there used to be#lesbian swirl just feels more rare because it is

1. Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted?:
As I continue my journey to not caring about this stuff: who knows?! What I will say is that I wouldn't have necessarily predicted that I wouldn't participate in certain fandom events that I traditionally have over the years, but that my list is super lengthy because I have kept up with my weekly drabbles and I've also transitioned to doing more chapter fic than I have in the past.
2. What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?:
No real surprises this year, but I did do quite a variety of drabble POVs rather than sticking to my single ship, plus it might be somewhat unexpected to see that I wrote kid!Natasha + kid!Sharon Carter dual POV.
3. What’s your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
Muscle Memory was technically still posting in this year, and I'm super proud of a lot of that story, but I also have quite a fondness for a lot of the character work and family/feelsy moments in All the Ways Home.
4. Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
Posting Roots and Wings!! I think that what I learned is that I'm allowed to just post what's interesting to me and what I want without thinking about reception, but also and perhaps contradictorily that sometimes the things that I like and want to experiment with will also appeal to people.
5. Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
Finish and post the Great Depression fic
Keep up with my Wednesday 100 drabbles
See if it feels good to go back to some additional fandom events or to start working with some new fandoms/ships - generally use what feels positive to me as the gauge for what I should do rather than expectations or the desire for recognition in some way
6. From my past year of writing, what was…
Story Most Underappreciated by the Universe:
There are easy reasons and explanations for this (it's short and really recent and potentially a little weird) but probably Have Yourself a Scheming Little Christmas.
Most Fun:
Academic Antagonism, Scholastic Strife! I still don't know that the trope super works in the way that I played it, but I like it anyway.
Most Disappointing:
I don't know that there's one that really fits here for this year, but maybe Roots and Wings specifically because the pacing is slightly off - I couldn't find anything to sort of fill in to balance the slower beginning with a slower ending rather than montaging the second half.
Most Sexy:
Oof, maybe I'm just tired, but I don't know that I had any super great sexy scenes this year?
Hardest to Write:
Lol, all of them? My depression hit super hard midyear and made it really difficult to focus and connect enough to complete All the Ways Home.
Most Unintentionally Telling:
The fact that I'm focusing so much on parenthood, specifically fatherhood, and family moments is definitely saying...something. Do even I know what it is? No guarantee!
Choice Lines:
Haha, I have no idea this year. I love my stuff but also it would be a bit out of hand to try to quote many of them. If you have favorites, I'd love to hear them!

Say, remember that "Neo Nobility" cult stuff we discussed on and off again? I think I did a submission with the various codenames/titles awarded to the members ETC.
Anyway, I was musing on it & wanted to share the two inspiration sources.
Outside of what I saw of S5's mask party & Chloe zeroing in on Marinette anyway XD
1: Baccano's mafia having a rite of passage along these lines: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lx6EMt33BFI
I imagine Kagami & Tomoe are stand outs here, but athletic and nimble Chloe with dual daggers is not one to underestimate ;)
2: This world building from the very impressive Travels Through Azeroth and Outland:
“ Sin’dorei are in love with idleness and frivolity, especially here in the capital. Many of our priests and sages say that such behavior is the mark of true civilization, and the only way that an elf can find happiness. They may be right; doubtless for most elves, this is the case. But idleness is a poison for others.” “I’ve observed the same among some human nobles,” I said. “Human nobles are not the same as elven nobles.” She raised her wine glass to her lips and drank deeply before continuing. “Some elves grew bored and jaded. They turned to darker entertainments, forming secret societies. Most were harmless but a few became dangerous, delving into warlock grimoires and summoning demons in hidden cellars all along Murder Row.” “That’s how the place got it’s name?” “Not exactly. Souls are required to summon most forms of demons, but these wayward elves culled souls from wild beasts. Distasteful, but not necessarily criminal. Around four centuries ago, one of these groups, the Fount of Wisdom, sought to summon a pit lord. They were young fools who had no idea what they were doing.” “A pit lord?” Those living maelstroms of destruction are among the most terrible demons in existence. “Horrible, I know. To do this, they kidnapped the daughter of Lord Fairbreeze and sacrificed her on an altar. Evidently the demons were displeased with such a sacrifice. Instead of a pit lord, they summoned an explosion which killed most of them.” “What happened to the survivors?” “They were found, admitted to their crimes, and executed. The ringleader was a scion of House Falconwing, but even that could not save him. His own father dealt the killing blow.” “Was that the last of such societies?” “Only for a while. Gradually they returned, though none were ever so reckless as the Fount of Wisdom.”
3: After that... I can't recall if that came before or after speaking with you, but I think I think:
Yu Yu Hakusho's Black Black Club (Wealthy humans who dabbled in blood sports, & selling demons as as slaves) Along with their "Feast of Human Vices" could or did or do play some degree of aesthetic inspiration. For reference, said Feast was horrific enough that when Demon Hunter Shinobu Sensui found it, his mind fractured and he killed all the humans there. Then he stole the "Chapter Black" a record of all humanities worst crimes & let's just say things didn't get better from there.
Not sure why, but I felt the context was interesting, especially given Gabriel, Emilie & others tinkering with magic artifacts too.
A lot of interesting ideas here, unfortunately I'm not familiar with any of the source material at al >.<;;

What's your favorite season of Outlander so far? I'm torn because I think there's something magical about the first two seasons but then the later ones have all of my favorite characters. I already miss Marsali and Fergus :(
Ooooh good question! I think season 1 will always be my favorite season. I love being in Scotland, I miss Murtaugh and Dougal and Jenny and the craziness of Claire adjusting to being trapped in another time period and watching the beginning of her and Jamie's love story. Plus I love that period of history. I am excited that we're finally entering the American Revolution though cause I also enjoy studying this period of history.
But even though I think s1 is still my favorite I do love season 2 when we meet Brianna and Roger and grown up Fergus (who is such a hottie omg I love him) and I love the flipping back and forth from 1760s to 1960s.
Each season has things I love and things I hate so it's really hard to choose! Like s1 has all the first but so much sexual violence. s2 has intro to Roger and Bree and grown up Fergus (such a hottie am I right!) and the Jacobite Rebellion but the France plot bores me. s3 has two of my favorite episodes Freedom & Whiskey and A. Malcom but god I don't care for the West Indies plot. s4 has the Roger whump but the awful heartbreaking Bree storyline but Bree and Jamie meet finally! s5 also good Roger whump. s6 has the Fergus whump. but with both of those seasons i get kinda bored with the Fraser Ridge plotlines. Ahh it's so hard to pick one!!

DMEBLNCHE : independent, private & selective CLAIRE BEAUCHAMP RANDALL FRASER from Outlander, books & show influences (mainly early seasons), studied by Flora ( 25, she/they, gmt+1 ), follows back from @pixiescribbling.
exploring themes of: being a stranger wherever you go, surviving, loss, the white witch
𝐑𝐔𝐋𝐄𝐒 ↓
001. GENERAL This is a sideblog so follow backs will come from my hub blog @pixiescribbling. especially while I'm still working on putting up the info - never hesitate to ask me any question about my muse, either through my askbox or ims. Triggering content, specifically concerning child loss, assault & surgery will be present, so please be aware of that. I will do my best to tag everything accordingly.
002. PORTRAYAL to make it short: I have no desire to stick strictly to canon & there will be divergencies. my portrayal is mostly based on vibes & draws influences from the books (I've read until book 5) & Starz' show (I've watched up to s5 so far).
003. HATE I won't accept any hate on my dash. there will be no participation in callout culture of any kind, I'm too tired for this tbh. if I see anything homophobic, biphobic, transphobic, racist etc you'll be blocked very fast.
004. MUN I go by the name Flora (she/they pronouns) & I work as a librarian. I'm german, so english isn't my first language & I'm always ready to learn.
