In the server segment, AMD already occupies almost a quarter of the market AMD has significantly increased its share in the processor market, according to recent statistics from Mercury Research. [caption id="attachment_81293" align="aligncenter" width="728"] AMD[/caption] At the moment, AMD already occupies 19.4% of the entire CPU market. A year ago, the company’s share was 15%, and a quarter ago – 17.3%, that is, the growth is very significant. AMD is not going to ease the pressure on Intel. The biggest impact on the overall share comes from the server segment, where AMD has surged beyond its 20 percent share. The company now holds 23.3% compared to 17.5% a year earlier! Let us remember that several years ago Intel said that its goal was to prevent AMD from occupying 10-15% of the server market. As you can see, AMD has already more than doubled the lower limit of this range. [caption id="attachment_81294" align="aligncenter" width="780"] AMD[/caption] In the desktop CPU market, everything is also very good: growth from 13.9% to 19.2%, although in quarterly terms there is a slight decline, since in the second quarter AMD’s share was 19.4%. As for mobile processors, there is also growth, and also excellent: from 15.7% to 19.5%. We also note that in monetary terms, AMD as a whole occupies 16.9% of the market, but in the server segment it is already almost 30%!

Threadripper Pro 3995WX is twice as far behind Test results for the Threadripper Pro 7985WX processor have appeared on the Internet. We have already seen the test results of the 96-core model, but now we are talking about the 64-core model, which means that we can directly compare the new product with its predecessors with the same number of cores. [caption id="attachment_75551" align="aligncenter" width="600"] AMD[/caption] Bravo, AMD. Threadripper Pro 7985WX is 36% faster than Threadripper Pro 5995WX So far there are tests only in Geekbench, but the results there are impressive. [caption id="attachment_75552" align="aligncenter" width="780"] AMD[/caption] Threadripper Pro 7985WX outperforms Threadripper Pro 5995WX in multi-threaded mode by 36%! Let us remember that the CPU has the same number of cores, so the increase is due solely to architectural changes and increased frequency. Compared to the Threadripper Pro 3995WX, the new product is 64% faster with the same number of cores. In single-threaded mode, the increase is approximately the same, but this is not so important.

And it will cost more than $600 In addition to the monstrous Ryzen Threadripper 7000 processors, AMD also introduced the professional Radeon PRO W7700 video card. [caption id="attachment_72131" align="aligncenter" width="780"] AMD[/caption] More precisely, the company mentioned such a model and a full announcement will take place sometime later. But it is already known that the new product will receive 16 GB of memory, which is quite normal for graphics accelerators of this class. AMD is preparing a new video card for professionals. Judging by the name, the heart of the new product should be the Navi 32 GPU, but the configuration is still unknown. If it is identical to that of the RX 7700 XT, then we are talking about 3456 stream processors, and the amount of memory probably indicates the use of a 256-bit bus. The Radeon PRO W7800 with 32 GB of memory costs $2,500, and the Radeon PRO W7600 with 8 GB is priced at $600, so the new product will be located somewhere between them, probably closer to the first.

For next-generation packaging technology Intel has introduced one of the industry's first glass substrates for next-generation packaging technology. As stated in the press release, this revolutionary achievement will allow us to continue to scale the number of transistors and improve Moore's Law for creating data-centric applications. After ten years of research, Intel has developed industry-leading glass substrates for advanced packaging. We look forward to introducing these cutting-edge technologies that will benefit our key players and foundry customers for decades to come. Future Intel processors will be partially glass. Compared to current industry organic substrates, glass offers distinctive properties such as ultra-low flatness and better thermal and mechanical stability, which results in much higher interconnect density in the substrate, Intel says. These features will enable the creation of high-density, high-performance chip packages, and higher transistor densities. In particular, glass substrates will make it possible to pack more chips in a smaller area. [caption id="attachment_56762" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Intel processors[/caption] True, all of these are decisions for the near future, and we are not talking about months. Intel says it's on track to bring complete glass wafer solutions to market in the second half of this decade, which means it's at least two more years away, but likely a little longer. Additionally, the initial use of glass substrates will not be in consumer products, but in solutions for data centers and the like.

But we have to wait The unique mobile processor Ryzen 9 7945HX3D will appear on more mobile PCs shortly. [caption id="attachment_56701" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Ryzen 9 7945HX3D processor[/caption] Insider Golden Pig Upgrade Pack says that this APU will cease to be exclusive to the only Asus model at the end of this year or early next year. Yes, the wait is still quite long, but still, the processor is very unusual. At least in the mobile segment, even AMD itself no longer offers anything similar, and Intel has nothing similar in the desktop segment. The unique Ryzen 9 7945HX3D processor will appear in other mobile PCs Ryzen 9 7945HX3D, let us remind you, is a copy of the Ryzen 9 7950X3D, only for the mobile segment. The processor stands out with an additional 64 MB of L3 cache, which gives an impressive performance boost in games. In addition, which is very important in the mobile segment, compared to the regular Ryzen 9 7945HX, the X3D version consumes significantly less energy. By the way, Minisforum showed a mini-PC based on the Ryzen 9 7945HX3D, but it has not yet entered the market. Insider Golden Pig Upgrade Pack once shared performance leaks of Intel CPUs of different generations and published Intel slides describing the Meteor Lake CPU.

This is an APU for game consoles, but there is a copy in the form of the Ryzen 5 7540U The first tests of the AMD Ryzen Z1 processor, the junior APU in the Z1 line for portable game consoles, have appeared on the Internet. [caption id="attachment_55215" align="aligncenter" width="780"] AMD's[/caption] The Ryzen Z1 is almost technically a copy of the Ryzen 5 7540U but differs in its customizable power limits. These are the first APUs in the Phoenix2 line to feature a new silicon designed specifically for energy-efficient mobile PCs and consoles. [caption id="attachment_55216" align="aligncenter" width="780"] AMD's[/caption] This is AMD's first mobile processor with different cores. The Ryzen Z1 review has appeared Both are configured with two Zen 4 cores, four Zen 4C cores, and an iGPU with 256 stream processors. It is the Ryzen Z1 that underlies the younger version of the Asus ROG Ally console, which is not yet available for purchase. Tests show that with a price difference of $100, this version of the console looks much worse than the older one. [caption id="attachment_55217" align="aligncenter" width="780"] AMD's[/caption] The Ryzen Z1's performance in gaming tests is often much lower than that of the Ryzen Z1 Extreme and its Ryzen 7 7840U counterpart. Yes, in some games and modes, the difference is insignificant, but more often it is huge. However, the Z1 consumes much less energy, and if a portable console is needed primarily for some undemanding games, then the younger APU is even better since with it the console will be more autonomous.

AMD GPUs perform well Various reviews of the Starfield game have long flooded the Internet, but Digital Foundry specialists, known for their meticulous reviews, have only now published their reviews. The authors paid attention to many aspects, including performance. [caption id="attachment_55165" align="aligncenter" width="780"] AMD[/caption] Like everyone else, Digital Foundry found that Starfield performs much better on AMD graphics cards than on generally comparable Nvidia cards. If you're using Intel and Nvidia, you get a noticeably inferior experience compared to AMD GPUs, which is completely out of the norm. AMD graphics cards destroy Nvidia graphics cards, which is far beyond the norm The authors found that the Radeon RX 6800 XT outperforms the RTX 3080 by an impressive 46%, although the cards are very close on average in many games. The AMD GPUs destroy the Nvidia GPUs in this game in a way not typically seen in rasterized games, which is truly way beyond the norm. But it's not all weirdness. For example, enabling Hyper-Threading on Intel CPUs results in worse average frame rates than if it were disabled while disabling SMT on AMD CPUs does not have the same impact on frame rates but does result in longer frame times. At the same time, Intel processors perform better than AMD processors in the game, which looks strange given the dominance of AMD video cards. https://youtu.be/ciOFwUBTs5s?t=347 The review authors also showed a comparison of FSR 2 and DLSS 3.5 (added via a mod), a comparison of graphics at different quality settings, and the game's performance on Xbox consoles.

Initially, only K and KF models will appear The Videocardz resource reports that its sources have revealed the launch date of the new Intel Raptor Lake Refresh processors. The advertising embargo will be lifted on October 16, meaning on this day Intel partners will be able to disclose various details about their products related to the new CPUs. On October 17, at 16:00 Moscow time, the embargo on reviews will be lifted. Sales start on the same day. [caption id="attachment_54848" align="alignnone" width="780"] Intel processors[/caption] New and old Intel processors will be released on October 17, but not all It is worth noting that these dates only apply to the top-end Core i9-14900K, Core 7-14700K, and Core i5-14600K models, as well as their F versions with the iGPU disabled. That is, as almost always in recent years, the top models of the new generation will hit the market first, and everyone else will have to wait. However, let us remind you that in the Raptor Lake Refresh line, only Core i7 models will offer something conditionally new, which will have more cores than the 13th generation Core i7. In all other cases, we will only talk about increasing frequencies.

Based on Zen 6 AMD processors based on the Zen 5 architecture are expected only next year, and the first details about CPUs based on Zen 6 have already appeared on the Internet. [caption id="attachment_54074" align="aligncenter" width="780"] AMD processors[/caption] We are talking about Epyc server processors of the Venice generation, which will be based on the Zen 6 architecture and have the SP7 version. Future AMD processors will have a 16-channel memory controller. Such processors should only be expected in 2025, so much is still unknown. However, it is reported that such CPUs will receive a 12-channel and 16-channel memory controller, depending on the version. In comparison, the current generation Epyc based on the Zen 4 architecture has a 12-channel memory controller. There is no other data, although there were previously rumors that the Venice generation would feature processors with 384 cores. Insider YuuKi_AnS, who shared the data, was the first to publish a photo of the Sapphire Rapids processor without a cover two years ago, and recently he was the first to reveal the characteristics of the Xeon CPU Max line.
