Am rewatching Parks and Rec, which aired smack dab in the middle of the Obama administration, before there was even the possibility of Donald Trump becoming president (let alone twice???), and not gonna lie it’s more than a little painful watching it now and remembering how optimistic I felt about the country’s trajectory at the time. That show painted such a bright and hopeful vision of the future and reality has not stopped letting me down ever since.
