Rose Twins fairy tale? It’s based off the Lindworm myth right? How different is it from the source??

Yes! My rose twins story is loosely based on the Prince Lindworm story. This is going to be a long post so strap yourselves in When I originally came across the Fairytale I found myself interested in the story of the twins born of magic with one cursed to be a Lindworm, and I was disappointed by the fact the second human twin pretty much disappears from the story after the bride plotline begins(Which i found to be less interesting in comparison) So the Rose twins story basically takes the origin story from the fairytale(the Queen of a kingdom meeting a mysterious old woman who tells her to eat one of two roses in order to have a child, but the queen ends up eating both causing the first born child to be born a lindworm) and then makes up a different story with it

As the Name implies the Rose twins story focuses on the bond that forms between the titular characters as they meet for the first time at age 15, having been unaware of the others existence. I also wanted to incorporate the theme I chose to take away from the original Lindworm fairytale, seeing someones layers peeled back, someone at their lowest or most vulnerable, and showing them kindness and understanding.

The older Lindworm twin, Edelweiss, has spent most of her life alone after her original guardian; A mage scholar named Zeris Firamain, mysteriously vanished before she reached double digits.Overtime and fruitless search after fruitless search for somewhere to belong, only to be rejected time and time again, Edel resigned herself to becoming somewhat of a local menace of a town named Vericksvale and scaring off anyone that tries to pass through her cave.Playing tricks on others being the closest she feels she can get to other people with the cards she's been dealt. As a young Lindworm, Edel can summon translucent spectral wings and Shrink in size, becoming as small as a ball python.(She also cries Rose water)

The Younger Human twin, Rowan, has been raised as the crown prince of the kingdom of Decerith and has spent most of his life lonely among other people.When he was younger he survived an assassination attempt that left many others dead, leaving him with Severe survivor's guilt.The Pedestal he has been placed on leaves him feeling that who he really is can never measure up to those expectations and that if people actually got to know him,they would only be disappointed, So he has never let anyone get close enough. Despite what everyone else believes, he might not have been as untouched by the rose curse as it seems, something he has gone to great lengths to hide for as long as he can remember.

I also may or may not have gone on a brief worldbuilding tangent about Decerith underneath the cut

The story takes place in the island kingdom of Decerith, which for the last twenty years has been stuck in a perpetual winter with no known cause, leaving the kingdom in a dire state(with countless people dying on a large scale in the early days of widespread famine and cold when the kingdom was caught off guard by a winter that didnt end, and more dying in the years that followed) and completely reliant on outside trade to survive. Kept barely afloat by their own export of Elyrium, a rare and valuable metal found only in Decirith used in the construction of many a technological marvel

including the Royal TransHerdaeick Railway, a Freight line that runs across the Herdaeick sea and has served as the only way in and out of Decerith for the last 20 years due to the conditions becoming too dangerous for tradition sea transportation.Only its Small crew are able to leave and Enter Decerith(and the desperate people who give up their lifesavings and risk their lives for a one way ticket out, forced to face the hostile elements in train cars not built for passengers, just for the chance of a better future. Members of the train crew who are found involved in bringing people out of Decerith risk severe consequences)

Due it's importance to Decerith's future and how coveted a position in the crew is, the selection process is known to be very cutthroat, and its candidates are trained in combat due to risk the cargo faces from desperate thieves.The TransHerdaeick Line had been intended to be the First of Many Oceanic Railways when it finished completion, with Passenger cars being in the works when the Perpetual winter dashed all these plans and Left the Freight line as the only one of its kind.

Ok, well guys, I’ve reached 100 followers!! 102, actually. In celebration, I’ve decided to do a little face reveal/background for each of my OCs. Hope this is good and gives some real substance to my people.

Roan (pronounced Rowan) Callahan: Roan is a fitness trainer at a local parkour gym. She never went to college, but it was simply because she never felt the need to. She has always had a knack for athletics, and has taken parkour classes herself since she was very little, so she thought the natural career path for her was to train others. Personality-wise she can tend to be a bit aggressive, but isn’t actually mean, just blunt and a tad sarcastic. However, when it comes to Justin, her boyfriend, she is the exact opposite of her regular self. She would die for that man, and is the sweetest, most caring person towards him. She is very loyal to those she cares for, and isn’t afraid to get in a fight to defend them. Roan grew up in a middle-class neighborhood. Her dad is a chemical engineer and her mom is an elementary school teacher. She is an only child, and she is okay with that. She’s seen how some of her friends’ siblings act and has no regrets about not having a sibling of her own. Roan’s passion for animals led to her having many pets as a child, including a rosy boa named Sherlock and two rats named Fred and George. Now she has a ball python named Reaper and a border collie called Phantom. Roan met Justin through work; he was one of her clients. Originally they were simply trainer and client, but as they got to know each other, Justin eventually got up the courage to ask her out, and now they have been dating for almost two years.

Justin Caruthers: Justin is a Biology major hoping to go into med school soon. He is a senior in undergraduate college, so he is nearing the point where he can get into med school officially. Justin is something of a big teddy bear. He’s sweet, kind, always tries to stay positive, and hates confrontation. His personality is the perfect ice to Roan’s fire, and he can calm her down if she gets too heated. H be this as it may, he never tries to control her, because he knows that she is an independent woman and respects her. Justin was raised in London, England. His mother is American but his father is English, and his mother moved to England to be with his father. Raised in a British schooling system, American college is a completely new experience. He is enjoying all of the American foods as well, though he has found that he doesn’t like hot dogs very much. He has one brother named Ethan who is four years older than him and is working in a local hospital. Despite wanting to go into medicine, Justin has a naturally weak stomach and gets very easily motion sick. His anxiety also has a tendency to make his stomach turn.

Edward (Eddie) Harrows: Eddie is a Marine Biology major whose true passion is surfing. He grew up in California, along the coast, where he started surfing at the age of four. Since then he has won many competitions, including three national competitions. His natural competitiveness lends nicely to his chosen sport. He is virtually fearless, and once narrowly escaped a tiger shark along the Australian coast. Eddie I has a very goofy personality. He loves to have fun and makes fun of his friends, playing pranks and joking around, almost ceaselessly. However, through his playfulness, he can also be extremely tough, and will stand up for his friends and family without a second thought. Standing at 6’5, he’s quite intimidating when he wants to be. Eddie was raised by his dad after his mom died in childbirth. He never really missed his mom per-say, because he never knew her, but he was sad at times that he didn’t get to have the relationship he saw his friends having. He has no siblings, and his father never remarried.

Callum Ulrich: Callum is a Biology major alongside Justin, his best friend. Instead of medicine like Justin, Callum wants to go on to be an environmentalist, protecting the habitats of animals around the world. He loves planes though, and has a pilot’s license, so his main goal is to fly himself around the world helping whatever animals need him. He has his own biplane that he has named Falcon Eye, due to the paint job on the outside, which portrays a falcon in flight. Callum is Irish, raised on, of all things, a wool farm. He used to run around in the fields with the sheepdogs for hours, just weaving between sheep and warding off predators. He has seven brothers and sisters, three older and four younger. In order of age, their names are Killian, Saoirse, Lorcan, Rourke, Róisín, Faolen, and Caoimhe. Callum has a similar personality to Eddie, his boyfriend, in that he always has a joke on the tip of his tongue. However, unlike Eddie, Callum will do almost anything to avoid a fight. He hates getting in the middle of people’s arguments, and hates having arguments himself.

Darius Wolff: Darius is a hard-core rocker. Sort of. He acts all hard and cool on the outside, but he secretly loves cuddles with his girlfriend. He does know how to play guitar like a fucking pro, and he plays lead guitarist and singer for his band, Eternal Hardships. Yeah, he knows the name is beyond dramatic, he didn’t choose it. He was outvoted by the rest of the band. Darius was born and raised in Germany, so English is his second language. Mistakes happen on occasion, and he does have an accent, but he is generally fluent in both languages. His dad is an oil tycoon who cycles endlessly through wives, each wife next in line to run the company since Darius has no interest. His passion is actually canids, so he is earning his Zoology degree so that he can run a Canine sanctuary one day. He has a pet fox named Adler.

Ariadne Sangster: Ariadne grew up in an underprivileged community, often going without one or two meals in a day. She didn’t have very good resources in her school, but she still managed to score a perfect score on her ACT and made it into her college with a full ride. She is now on her senior year of pre-med, going into medical school next year with more money than she ever had growing up due to how she could save any money she earned instead of spend it on college. Ari was raised by just her mother because her father was killed in a car crash when she was five years old. She has three older brothers, one of whom died in the same crash that killed he father. The remaining two work together at their own mechanics shop, which is doing quite well. Their names are Perseus (Percy) and Orpheus (Ori). They were all named after Greek myths because their mother always found those myths inspiring, and she hoped that if her children were named after great heroes they would grow up to do great things. During Ari’s freshman year of college, her mother remarried a very nice man named Richard, who takes very good care of her mother and brought his own daughter, Sasha, into the family. Sasha is twenty five and works as a nurse practitioner. Ari loves animals just as much as her boyfriend, Darius. She owns two cats, who she named after characters in her favorite television show, Supernatural. The white on is named Dean, and the black one is named Sam.

Background

Kendra was the middle child of the Crane family, an upper class family from old money and history. The Cranes have been in politics, the stock market, car manufacturing… You name it, someone from their family was probably involved in it. While her mother came from a more simple background, she was still pretty well off as well. She has an older brother, Mitchell, who is following in their grandfather’s footsteps and getting into politics, gunning for Congress eventually, while her younger sister is more of a free spirit. 

Kendra was always the middle child, the scapegoat of the family. She was either ignored or being blamed for her sister’s problems, like somehow she was the reason her sister got super drunk at a party Kendra didn’t even attend. Alana had a lot of medical issues when she was born and almost didn’t make it, so she could do no wrong in her parent’s eyes. She got everything she ever wanted and the slightest accomplishment was ten times better than anything Kendra worked hard for. Sure, Kendra got straight As and an award in science, but Alana got homecoming queen.

Needless to say, there was always a bit of a competition between the two. Alana got all the praise, love, and attention, but she couldn’t match Kendra’s brilliance and talent. Kendra was super smart and talented in art. She got into Parsons School of Design easily while Alana decided to put college off and travel the world and finding herself (note: ten years later and she’s still ‘finding herself’).

Despite not getting much attention from her parents, she had the support of friends, grandparents, and professors who saw her talent and encouraged it. After graduating from Parsons, she started her own line of wedding dresses and became a huge hit very quickly. Her parents weren’t that impressed but at least other people saw her potential. 

Kendra met Daniel Trent at a party, which she was attending to meet people who may fund her next collection. He was charming, sweet, and made her feel like the only girl in the room. He was a hedge fund manager, making a stupid amount of money for stuff she didn’t quite understand, but he was supportive of her own passions and job and it was a great love story. They dated for years before getting engaged. But things all crashed weeks before the wedding.

That was when she walked in on her fiance sleeping with her sister. Turns out, they had been sneaking around behind her back for two years of their four year relationship. He admitted that he was in love with Alana and wanted to end their engagement. 

This wasn’t exactly new to Kendra. Alana had a history of stealing her friends, crushes, and boyfriends before. But she had thought that Daniel wouldn’t do that to her, that he only wanted her. She had seen her sister try to flirt with him when she first introduced him to her family, but he had ignored her. Apparently not as much as she had thought.

She had enough of her sister and yelled at her, really telling her what she thought of her. And wouldn’t you know it, her parents took her sister’s side, saying that there was nothing they could do and they should just let the lovebirds be. And Kendra had enough. She blew up at her parents as well, telling them they always took Alana’s side and didn’t care about her. Even her older brother was taking their side. So that was the last straw of being ignored by her family. She left.

The one family member that had always been on her side was her Bubbe Bertie. Spending time in Denver with her mother’s mother was a time when she didn’t have to compete for attention, it was just given freely as well as love. And a few years ago when her bubbe died, she had left Kendra her house in Denver, Colorado. Her maternal grandparents Alan and Bertie Cohen had lived in Denver most of their lives and Alan was even the mayor for several years. She had always been happy at their house, so she decided to go and live in the inherited house. She hadn’t been to Denver much in the few years, but it was far away from her family and that is what was important. 

Kendra couldn’t stand her own job though. Designing wedding dresses was just breaking her already fractured heart even more. She had worked months on designing and making her own wedding dress for the wedding that didn’t happen. She had plenty of money so she didn’t have to work, but she needed something to do to get her mind off things. Back in high school, she had done a volunteer program at a mental health crisis hotline, which then led her to helping out at a 911 call center later on. She had enjoyed being able to help people and was good at it, even though it was stressful. So she decided to do that again. 

Kendra has been settled in Denver for 6 months now, trying to rebuild her life and forget about her heartbreak from both her fiance and her family. She is focusing on her job, her books, and her pets. 

She is very dedicated to her pets and puts in a lot of effort researching all they need before adopting them. She also extensively trains them when needed. Kendra is a huge fan of books and has a huge library in her new home. She also enjoys cooking, especially sweets, and crafts like crocheting, knitting, and the like.

Kendra is stubborn through and through. When she made up her mind to cut off her family, she refuses to change it. She can hold a grudge when she feels it is justified. She is hard working and dedicated to whatever she decides to do. She is loyal where no one has ever been loyal to her. She is intelligent and loves puzzles and anything that makes her think. She is a huge animal lover and will gladly donate her money to animals in need. She is the type to sacrifice herself for others. She is very artistic but hasn’t drawn or sewn anything since the breakup. She is more guarded with her heart, not trusting that people will stay with her.

• i'm a rather introverted person but i do love talking to people i feel comfortable with. all of my close friends are internet friends. i love texting & facetiming. so if you're bored or interested in having someone to talk to, just ask or text me.

• i'm very keen on sustainability, buying things second hand. i might post things i find at flea markets, online or what a bargain my used books were.

• i'm aspec. which always makes joining communities a bit harder for me because i'm not one to be asked about fuckability & will answer f-m-k questions rationally. if i do gush about how beautiful someone is it usually has to do with aesthetic attraction or gender envy.

↳ it's also worth the mention that i'm vegan because it always comes up in conversation at some point & yes, you can share a picture of your delicious food with me if it's not vegan. i'm glad you're having a good meal.

• my favourite python film is Meaning of Life.

• it took me two years & two tries to finish Flying Circus. not because i hate it but because i'm just so terrible at finishing tv shows. very unfortunate when one likes old british comedy. i watched the last 11 episodes in one day on the 26th of may this year & my brain still hurts.

• my favourite python is graham. (if you knew what i dressed & acted like you wouldn't be surprised).

• i also really like rowan atkinson. i'm definitely going to watch more of his work & might be reblogging some posts about him.

• i like the beatles as well. even though i have to admit i'm more fascinated by them as people rather than their music. ringo is my favourite.

• some other things that interest me: films (particularly old films; silent films & everything), 50s-80s fashion, 20s-30s fashion, collecting, old books, everything old, watching my favourite football (black & white ball) & nba teams, video recording/editing, writing...

Rowan Sebastian Atkinson was born on January 6th, 1955, in Consett, County Durham, England. He is an English actor, comedian, and writer, best known for his work on the sitcoms Blackadder (1983–1989) and Mr. Bean (1990–1995). Atkinson first came to prominence in the BBC sketch comedy show Not the Nine O'Clock News (1979–1982), receiving the 1981 BAFTA for Best Entertainment Performance, and via his participation in The Secret Policeman's Ball (1979). His other work includes the James Bond film Never Say Never Again (1983), playing a bumbling vicar in Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994), voicing the red-billed hornbill Zazu in The Lion King (1994), and playing jewellery salesman Rufus in Love Actually (2003). Atkinson also featured in the BBC sitcom The Thin Blue Line (1995–1996). His work in theatre includes the 2009 West End revival of the musical Oliver!.

Atkinson's early comedy influences were the sketch comedy troupe Beyond the Fringe, made up of Peter Cook, Dudley Moore, Jonathan Miller and Alan Bennett, major figures of the 1960s British satire boom, and then Monty Python. Atkinson states, “I remember watching them avidly as students at university.” He continued to be influenced by the work of John Cleese following his Monty Python days, regarding Cleese as being “a major, major inspiration”, adding, “I think that he and I are quite different in our style and our approach, but certainly it was comedy I liked to watch. He was very physical. Yes, very physical and very angry.” He was also influenced by Peter Sellers, whose characters Hrundi Bakshi from The Party (1968) and Inspector Clouseau from The Pink Panther films influenced Atkinson's characters Mr. Bean and Johnny English.

On Barry Humphries' Dame Edna Everage, he states, “I loved that character – again, it's the veneer of respectability disguising suburban prejudice of a really quite vicious and dismissive nature.” Of visual comedians, Atkinson regards Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd as influential. He was also inspired by French comedian Jacques Tati, stating, “Mr. Hulot's Holiday I remember seeing when I was 17 – that was a major inspiration. He opened a window to a world that I'd never looked out on before, and I thought, "God, that's interesting," how a comic situation can be developed as purely visual and yet it's not under-cranked, it's not speeded-up, it's more deliberate; it takes its time. And I enjoyed that.”

Atkinson was listed in The Observer as one of the 50 funniest actors in British comedy in 2007, and among the top 50 comedians ever, in a 2005 poll of fellow comedians. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with screenwriter Richard Curtis and composer Howard Goodall, both of whom he met at the Oxford University Dramatic Society during the 1970s. In addition to his 1981 BAFTA, Atkinson received an Olivier Award for his 1981 West End theatre performance in Rowan Atkinson in Revue. He has had cinematic success with his performances in the Mr. Bean film adaptations Bean (1997) and Mr. Bean's Holiday (2007), and also in the Johnny English film series (2003–2018). He also appeared as the titular character in Maigret (2016–2017).

Atkinson was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 2013 Birthday Honours for services to drama and charity.

Here are some of my pets to cheer you up! The black and white doggo is Sam (sammie, sammich, ham, hammie, samithy, naughty), she's an italian greyhound. The white and brindle doggo is Rocco (taco man, snooze, boo), a retired ex-racer greyhound. The red (chestnut) horse is Tucker, he's an appaloosa and the love of my life. He's 21! You'd never know by looking at him lol. The black horse (friesian x) is my mom's horse Dante. Not sent is my ball python Rowan bc I didnt know if snakes freak you out or not ❤
