For any Path of titans players I want to highly recommend Prehistopia semi realism to anyone looking for an inclusive, sweethearted and all around wholesome community. It's very quiet at the moment and they could really use some more members as theyre highly underrated and growth seems to be something they are struggling with at the moment.

They have a special fantasy Friday (which is staying all weekend this week) at the beginning on every month where you can play some dinos that are not usually on the server such as Noviana here that was nested tonight.

They recently also had a nesting war which was TONS of fun and the admins say it will be coming back as an event again eventually!

Mourn was brought into the world alone. With no idea where, what, or who he was, he almost immediately took to exploration.

Instinct alone kept him alive. Hiding at every sound and eating any small creature he could find. Trotting along cliff edges and carelessly drinking from large water sources its honestly a miracle he survived into adolescence. He used his mouth to explore the world around him, and found tat he has a particular taste for salt. For some reason beyond his understanding though, he gets incredibly thirsty after eating it. It took nearly thirsting to death several times before he realized he should only eat it near water.

Somehow, he suvived to adulthood by sheer luck. He instinctivly made his way towards his species' nesting zone to seek out others of his kind. Pycnos are skittish on their own, and only really comfortable in groups of three.

He managed to find another male and greeted him joyously. The two clicked immediately with each other. Excitedly playing together by shoving each other around.

Satisfied with their compatibility, Mourn and Orion set off to hopefully find a third. The two noisy and rambunctious males calling out to each other frequently. Alerting all of Ashfall that chaos was to come.

It didnt take long for them to find a third pycno. This one, female. They greeted her excitedly and allowed her to inspect them. She seemed to like them, and followed them on their travels. The two males were happy to show off to her by shoving each other. A show of strength. In return, she presented them with a shell. The beginning of an unbreakable bond.

I’ve been having a BLAST on Path of Titans this dinovember. Between migration events and baby fight nights the community server “Where the Heart is” has been amazing to help learn the game

i want to ramble about panjura from path of titans a bit because it made me have interesting thoughts about map design in games

ok so for context everyone Hates this map because it is a big sprawling forest. the moment a map with more condensed/defined areas came out (gondwa) the majority of the playerbase moved to that

im not even really fond of this game anymore. like. i realized the combat aspect is not really for me and nor is the playerbase really (i pretend global chat doesnt exist its so tense). but what drew me in was that (1.) i had no idea that a game's map design could have so much attention to detail and (2.) ON TOP OF THAT BE SO BIG?? apparently the size of panjura is 8x8km. i heard through someone else that it also took 2 years to design

and i just find it really immersive in the way that you can come across a clearing of shallow trees over a brook or a rolling hill that like. stops to make you appreciate it if youre not focused on "man im fucking bored i gotta kill someone." because my friends advertised this to me 2 years ago as a game where you could just be a dinosaur lol. ive been trying to get some mileage out of it but havent found my niche yet really ive considered quitting the game a few times

and i guess like. gondwa (the alternative) does a good job at being more game-friendly. it funnels players into interactions a bit, and the ocean surrounding it shrinks the area you can wander, heightening your chances of coming across someone to fight. (when i was a new player it used to surprise me that everyone enjoys fighting) the land is divided up by rivers and cliffs, so most people are coming off of common bridges or shortcuts. you could also point to a specific area on the map and say "oh thats [region name]" because the borders are so defined. which is something you can't really do with panjura. thus, gondwa is a bit more palatable and is understandably why so many community servers use it to encourage interactions instead. EVERY area is considered a "hotspot" in its own way.

so you can sort of see why like. most people found panjura boring. the larger lake is probably one of the most notable features here, and even then this cuts off the bottom half of the map which does follow more of their uniform use of forests, cliffs, and occasional brooks/ponds. aside from some steep hills, you can otherwise make a beeline for any area you want to migrate to though. it is comparably "too big"

but thats what i fucking love about it so much. there is so much space that like the map has a kind of private aspect to it to the point that if you DO come across another player by some insane stroke of luck, it's way more memorable? and it has a feel to it like youre just going for a walk. but nobody opens a game to just take a walk. which makes it so hard to describe why i love panjura. its just very quiet and gives you more options if you want your own space to roam. theres also more freedom to be able to enter and leave areas at any point. i'd also like to make a note that people only play for the handful of designated "hotspots" around the center of the map

and after panjura got "replaced" for lack of better word there's not always much attention given to it development-wise; a lot of the regions could be redefined bc they've just always been circular (for context you get quests based on the region youre in. gondwa has irregular-shaped regions) and some of them are very incomplete, like some used to have missing quest items or currently have no quest items at all. meanwhile i wouldnt be surprised if gondwa got a bit more polishing over the year it was released. and that could very well be attached to gondwa just being newer/easier to tweak compared to panjura sticking with the game since the beginning

and thats just. it. panjura is comparatively more realistic and immersive in a careful way but thats all it really has going for it. and with the perspective of game design, palatability, guiding, consideration for the player, etc., you dont 100% know when someone is going to attempt to create something similar to it again. which makes me think about this a lot whenever i play it. it just sort of opened my eyes to what art in games COULD be versus what they thrive as

not even to say that gondwa has no aesthetic aspects to it, it just jams so many of them together though (i took none of these photos):

and like. hearing about it was really exciting. but even if you find an area to be very pretty, the awe stops for me when i roam for a bit and realize how small it is. most of these tend to abruptly end where another region begins. to enjoy a map i want to feel dwarfed by it like as if i could run in it for hours, not just enjoy a small spot and say "that was cool! next drastically different biome please." and i wonder if there are any other games that give you the freedom to roam like panjura does. it makes me sad sometimes how people just straight up call it bad/boring map design and it always made me want to dissect why

Hot take but if you run a video game server group think for a game with presumably a largely autistic audience and you have 10000 rules they should all be in the same place and clearly visible and plainly spoken.

Ive been playing path of titans (dinosaurs game) recently, and there are community servers. Someone got in trouble the other day for not linking their account to their discord. And the mod explained it was mandatory.

It does not say that anywhere.

It says in mantle places "it is mandatory to join the discord." It also, in 2 places, says "you can link your pot account to your discord here." It does not, in ANY WAY say that linking the account is mandatory.

And I tried to politely point that out but I think the mod just thought I was like a troublemaker or something.

So.. since both Arazoa and LOFT either shut down or burst into flames me and my friends have moved to Dynasty for realism community stuff. I'm currently waiting on a couple dedicated groups to nest again to get nested in so in the meantime spun a wheel to randomly choose a dino to play in the meantime and I got Tyrannotitan LOL

I have NEVER seriously played apexes. The most I've done is play super passive Spino who only eats fish and never fights anyone.

I haven't gotten into a fight yet with Rimejaw here but I will say I've accidentally fallen in love with her and I'm going to cry like a little bitch when I inevitably get my ass handed to me by another apex. I am not good at PvP so best I can do is always stay topped up on critters and flee like a coward if I see a giga or other apexes.

She only just hit sub-adult but I'm definitely interested in nesting her 👉👈

Alright first post featuring my dinos!

Dinosaur: Alioramus

Gender: Male

Name: River

(Featuring his mate, Faline)

River's Story: Ashfall's Pack of Organized Crime

River was orphaned as a Juvenile. He was hatched into the intense summer heat. The season was particularly dry. Most of the pack he hatched into didn't make it. Those that did had left to find water.

River was alone.

He waited in his nest, calling pitifully for his parents until thirst pulled him from his sanctuary as well.

Travelling alone, he learned early on that other creatures weren't his friends. That is, until he found her.

Another alio chick. A female. He approached cautiously, inspecting her. When he was sure she wouldnt hurt him, he became excited. Eagerly playing with her in his joy. Her name was Faline.

Their play was short lived, however. Another creature, much larger than the two of them, has decided that they were dinner.

A Yutyrannus. River was panicked, seeing it run towards them. He called out in alarm to warn her and she seemed to get the message. The two of them ran, but there was no visible cover for them.

They were clever though. Both having been alone, they learned some tricks.

Both juveniles dodged and distracted until thr Yutyrannus could chase no longer. Seeing their chance, they both took off away from it.

They survived the encounter, and rested together. This would be thr beginning of an unbreakable bond.

Not long after this, tgey found two more juvenile alioramus. Their names were Velvet and Gravity.

The four grew together. They cared for each other and played together.

When River came of age, he immediately began courting Faline. Gifting her items that were as beautiful as she was. This being butterflies and flowers. She accepted each one. The two of them running to play with each gift. After which they would spend ample time resting and grooming each other.

At this time, another male joined their group. A melanistic one named Viago.

Faline found a cave that she guided River to a cave, where she settled to lay a single egg.

When it hatched , River and Faline doted on the chick. Giving him all the love that they never had the chance to receive. The chick's name was Arson. And with Arson, a new pack was born onntge shores of Ashfall.

Mafia Pack.

After this, the pack thrived. Keeping close bonds through playing, hunting, and resting together. They learned to work together and became strong as River and Faline learned to lead. They would go on to accept many new members into their pack. The following year, Falije would produce a pair of eggs, which hatched two girls. Giving the pack strength and hope for their future.

if you're small and you can't run/fight, hiding is your friend. try to camouflage yourself with your surroundings or duck into a cave if you can

running all the time will use up your stamina and make a lot of noise, unless you're fast and have a lot of stamina just walk and save your energy for when you need it

don't trust random people as a juvi, especially adult dinos!!! most of the time they Will try to kill you. other babies are generally okay to trust, just be careful

if you can get a friend to join you, growing together will be much faster than going it alone

some good beginner dinos are the little raptors, rhamph, ano, pachy, metri, and meg

never trust an eo. ever

if you're getting frustrated, take a break or join a community server with rules against kosing
