I want Charles’ relationship with his father to be as complicated as possible
He’ll raise hell against Charles’ shitty teachers even though he doesn’t treat him any better at home
He’ll defend Charles when he’s in trouble then punish him for getting into that situation in the first place
He’ll fight against the racism Charles faces then turn around and berate him with homophobic slurs
Every time Charles decides he hates his father, the bastard does the bare minimum to look after his son and then Charles feels bad about it
He gives Charles just enough to guilt him into being grateful, looks after him just enough to still be considered a father, does just enough that Charles can’t completely hate him
That’s why he tells Crystal he misses his parents, not just his mother. Despite everything he still loves his father, as much as he wishes he didn’t.

For my non comic readers: I just wanna let you guys know Charles has a half sister named Clementine. Clementine’s mom ended up murdering Charles’ mom while Charles was young. It was ruled a suicide, Charles was told it was an accident, and when he suspects it was a murder he worries his dad did it. And is worried that if his dad murdered his mom then what does that make him as his blood.
Just a fun fact :)
Also his parents names are Mary and Paul :D

The beauty of Dead Boy Detectives is going beyond a mere sexual awakening for Edwin. As George highlights in every interview, the core of ep.07 is the discovery of love and the need/will to be loved. Edwin's sexual orientation in not so relevant anymore.
This reminds me the idea of the philosopher Paul B. Preciado who claims a world beyond gender. In the stair scene being gay is not THE feature of Edwin and of his feelings for Charles. Beacuse being gay is no longer the thing that make Edwin that specific character, on the contrary it matters as much as being straight (or anything else). In other words, it finally means nothing. This is the right direction.
Hope I explained myself.

As the Lennon-McCartney copyright was more or less sacrosanct, Harrison’s contributions to their songs were never credited. “I had my one or two songs occasionally, but really I was more involved than that,” he says. “I know now, writing with friends, that when you’re all sitting around and a song comes out, you have to think carefully about assigning how many percent each person gets. ’Cause there’s nothing worse than being involved in a situation where you think, ‘Wasn’t I there?’ “A lot of Lennon-McCartney songs had other people involved, whether it’s lyrics or structures or circumstance. A good example is ‘I Feel Fine.’ I’ll tell you exactly how that came about: We were crossing Scotland in the back of an Austin Princess, singing ‘Matchbox’ in three-part harmony. And it turned into ‘I Feel Fine.’ The guitar part was from Bobby Parker’s ‘Watch Your Step,’ just a bastardized version. I was there for the whole of its creation — but it’s still a Lennon-McCartney.” “Tell me about it!” Paul McCartney smiles when told of George’s comment. “I wrote ‘Yesterday’ single-handed and not only do I share it — now with Yoko — but the Lennon name comes before mine.” Paul concedes the point about “I Feel Fine” but suggests that “if you were to get picky about all that stuff there’s a million woes and a million reasons to sing the blues. In actual fact we just decided to split it down the middle. Me and John were the writers, unless George came up with something. Anybody who threw half a line in, it just really didn’t count.”

The worst thing Charles’s father ever did was love him
If he had hated him, well that would have been that, it would’ve hurt but it would have been nowhere near as bad as the truth
Because the truth is love doesn’t stop people doing terrible things, so what’s stopping Charles from doing the same?
