"The Ghost and Molly McGee", Ten Years After
Molly’s ongoing work to improve the economic, cultural, and mental well-being of Brighton has earned her the love and respect of everyone in town, a few write-ups in statewide and national publications… and a full scholarship to the University of Iowa’s civil and environmental engineering program. She’s returned to Brighton, working for City Hall as assistant city planner (with her dad as her boss, which isn’t awkward at all, really) while earning her master’s online.
Molly wasn’t alone while she attended UI—Libby was her dormmate all four years that she was there. She earned a scholarship of her own, majoring in English. She also returned to Brighton after graduating, becoming a part-time reporter for the town newspaper while helping run her mother’s bookstore. All of this is in addition to her literary career. Matias, her father, took a second look at the fantasy novel she wrote and realized it was publication-worthy. It wasn’t a best seller, but the royalties from this and two other books Libby has written since let her live comfortably and pursue her passions in life. Her latest project is a series of books helping small children understand and live with the effects of divorce.
Molly and Ollie hit a rough patch after an admittedly stupid argument during their senior year of high school, and their two-month breakup proved just as hard on their respective families as it was on each other. They got back together just in time for graduation from Brighton High, only to part ways as Molly went to UI and Oliver headed for Iowa State. But they carried out a successful medium-distance relationship (it was only a two-hour drive between the two campuses).
Ollie has parlayed his experience as a researcher for his parents’ MeTube videos into a career as a freelance researcher for an assortment of psychological and medical foundations. While he travels all over the Midwest and occasionally beyond, he’s based out of Brighton… specifically, the rental house he shares with Molly. Ollie and Molly are practically married already, but their parents are eager for them to make it official. The couple are waiting a while to save enough money to stage the dream wedding and after-party they always wanted without breaking the bank.
Several years ago, an ill-advised deal involving a shipment of counterfeit designer smartwatches and the Uzbek mafia landed Darryl in hotter water than usual. He’s lucky all he got away with was lockdown in juvie until his 21st birthday… which got commuted to two hundred hours of community service and time served due to an unexpected (and slightly suspicious) governor’s pardon. At any rate, the whole debacle soured Darryl on similar schemes. He’s kept his nose clean since then, barring a few school detentions. He takes business courses at a local community college with plans to transfer to a four-year institution this fall. His current side hustle involves promotions and advertising for assorted boutiques and under-21 nightclubs that have popped up in Brighton's revitalized downtown.
June lives away from home, majoring at Drake University. But she remains Darryl’s best friend, the only person outside his family who’s consistently been there for him after his schemes blew up in his face—figuratively and almost literally; she was the one who detected that leak in the ammonium nitrate storage tank Darryl stashed out near the water tower. They even dated for a while before mutually acknowledging the situation was “weird” and deciding they were better off as friends. On a related note, maybe Esther shouldn’t have paid out all that money to have her wedding dress remade.
Pete and Sharon are still happily married. Pete takes great pride in the improvements he’s helped make for his adopted hometown of Brighton, and he’s especially flattered that his daughter is following in his footsteps. The town’s successes have become Pete’s successes—in the last ten years, he’s fixed up the family home and bought his first non-used car. He’s even dusted off his vinyl for a few gigs at some of the new clubs downtown. Meanwhile, Sharon offers painting classes at the local community center and retirement home. These days, she primarily uses her Gig Pig account to set up painting parties in and around town, sometimes as far out as Perfektborg.
The Chens’ enlightenment about the true nature of ghosts has led them to step away from their “Ghost Chaser Chens” MeTube channel. Ruben has had far more luck marketing his brand of small-batch root beer, now available in grocery and convenience stores all over the state. Recently, Esther inspired Ruben to introduce a “spiked” version flavored with Habanero peppers. Reception has been mixed.
Grandma Nin and her friend Patty are the self-described “Bad Girls of Brighton Hills”, but their adventures have proven more constructive than mischievous. They’ve organized concerts at the bandshell, joined the Senior Construction Crew on home-repair projects for needy families, and hosted a weekly potluck dinner/board game session in the home’s cafeteria. These dinners always feature Patty’s homemade gumbo—Nin helped her fine-tune the recipe so now it’s actually edible.
The McGees look forward to David and Emmie’s annual visits, a chance to catch up with family and connect with their heritage. The Thai lessons Molly took on Triolingo have helped her feel slightly more at ease when the Suksais come to call. Also, Sharon has tried practicing some Thai dishes, with Pete’s assistance and (critically) while Nin isn’t in the vicinity.
A year after Davenport’s closed its doors, the family rolled the dice and started a supermarket specializing in organic groceries, local produce, and hard-to-find foreign brands… items Bizmart couldn’t or wouldn’t accommodate. The gamble paid off, and Davenport's Turnip Patch sells and ships to customers across the region—yes, even to Perfektborg. (Sharon and Nin are frequent visitors since they carry Thai specialties like jackfruit, pandan extract, and even durian.) Andrea maintains the store’s computer systems but pointedly avoids appearing in advertising. She’s back on her socials, but not as an influencer. Her “Girl Code” series on MeTube provides tips and tricks for entry-level coding enthusiasts. The videos feature occasional cameos by her girlfriend Alina, who’s also taken an interest in the subject.
Three months after Scratch cast off his Chairman’s robes, they settled upon the recently departed spirit of a retired manager of an IRS branch office. Since then, the Ghost Council has basked in bureaucratic bliss, leaving the denizens of Ghost World alone and happy. Not long after Todd left, Molly conducted a séance and told Geoff what happened to Scratch. He realizes it will be a while before he sees his friend again, but at least he has Jeff to keep him company.
Todd and Adia have photographed wild horse herds in Montana, kayaked off the Antarctic Peninsula, biked through Croatia, snorkeled with manta rays in Hawaii, and helped refurbish a centuries-old mosque in Brunei… and that’s just in the last year! Their adventures included a meditation retreat in India where Todd astrally projected his spirit out of his body for a few minutes. He “came back” talking about a young lady back in Brighton who showed him how to live even though he was already “dead”. On their next swing back to the United States, Molly is the first person they plan to visit.

Challenge for Bryce Menzies
In just a few days the #Dakar2018 starts. And with that there is also a new driver/co-pilot pairing on the startline. Successful Baja trophy truck racer and multiple winner Bryce Menzies and his copilot Pete Mortensen take on the Dakar Rally challenge for the first time.
Tumblr media
And they do so in the brand-new developed x-raid team John Cooper Works Buggy.
To recap 2017 they raced: Rallye du Maroc 2017 8.) B. Menzies (USA) / P. Mortensen (USA) MINI John Cooper Works Rally and Silk Way Rally 2017 9.) B. Menzies (USA) / P. Mortensen (USA) MINI John Cooper Works Rally Both Rally Raids in the established 4x4 x-raid Mini.

The works buggy is an all new rear-wheel drive racer, which will use the same 3.0-liter diesel engine as the 4WD car, has been developed in response to Peugeot's recent 2WD dominance of the South American event. How will they end the race? Finish at the podium? Win stages and achieve a top 10 result? Finish the rally raid and collect experience? DNF (Do Not Finish) because of some gremlins with new vehicle?

tidbits from the Fellowship of the Ring director + writers’ commentary track (feat. Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Phillipa Boyens)
the prologue, and issue of how to work all the exposition about the Ring into the film, was a source of great difficulty for the writers and went through a lot of iterations. in some versions of the script Gandalf would have told Frodo the story of the Ring in Bag End as he does in the books. at one point they decided to scrap the prologue altogether, only to get a note back from New Line that they had to have it, so Peter, Fran and Philippa had to assemble it from the existing footage they had while they were in England putting the soundtrack together.
the framing of the prologue and exactly what information would be in it also went through a lot of changes before it was ultimately decided that it needed to be from the 'perspective' of the Ring itself since the Ring is in a way a central character in the story. at one point the narration would have been done by Frodo, from the perspective of him writing the book after the quest was over, but it was felt that he didn't have the necessary perspective to make it work and that an immortal character like Galadriel worked better.
although prologue!Bilbo is only seen for a few seconds, costume designer Ngila Dickson meticulously made sure his outfit matched the descriptions given in The Hobbit, including the brass buttons on his waistcoat that he later loses while escaping the caves.
the population of Hobbitton in the opening was mostly recruited from farmers and people living around Matamata, where the Hobbitton exterior set was built. two of the hobbit extras later got married after first meeting on set.
the shot of Sam with the flowers in the extended cut is the only time in the films Sam was actually shown gardening.
the shots of Frodo greeting Gandalf were done with four actors--Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, a small scale double for Frodo and a large scale double for Gandalf. when the closeup is on Gandalf, Ian McKellen is interacting with four-foot-tall Kiran Shah. when the closeup is on Frodo, Elijah Wood is interacting with almost-eight-foot-tall Paul Randall.
while many of the scale shots of the hobbits are actually done using very simple techniques, Peter Jackson chose to invest time in a few impressive ones early on so as to help really sell the idea for the audience from the beginning. one of these is the shot of Bilbo taking Gandalf's hat and staff as Gandalf enters Bag End--it was actually a very complicated shot that involved making big and small versions of the props and then carefully merging them together with CGI.
most of the Bag End scenes were shot by filming the actors on two different sets, a large-scale one for Ian Holm's scenes and a small-scale one for Ian McKellen's scenes, and then merging them together. however the scene of Bilbo serving Gandalf tea was done with both actors on the same set and used forced perspective--there are actually two tables of different sizes lined up to look like one table, with Gandalf interacting with the larger table and Bilbo with the smaller one.
Gandalf hitting his head on the ceiling was an unscripted accident left in because it worked so well.
before including Thorin's map from The Hobbit in Bag End, the writers made sure to double-check where the map canonically wound up in the books. they gave the task of researching this to Henry Mortensen, Viggo Mortensen's son and a diehard Lord of the Rings fan.
Peter Jackson expected to get pushback from the studio about the amount of smoking in the film, and in particular was ready to have to fight to keep in the scene of Gandalf and Bilbo smoking before the party. however no one ever brought it up at all.
most of the hobbit actors in the party were friends and relatives of the cast and crew. although the books state that Bilbo invited 144 hobbits to his special table, "due to budget constraints" the actual amount of hobbits at the party is probably closer to about 100. viewers are advised not to count them too closely.
some of the hobbit children listening to Bilbo's story were played by Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh's own children. one of them, Billy Jackson, was the only actor in the movie not wearing a wig, because he already had "naturally perfect hobbit hair."
the "Proudfeet!" shot was framed as a homage to Ralph Bahksi's animated Lord of the Rings, which was what originally got Peter Jackson into LOTR.
during Bilbo's speech, the polystyrene birthday cake had so many candles on it it actually caught on fire and started to burn. the take was going so well, though, no one wanted to interrupt Ian Holm, so the cake is just sort of quietly burning away in the background while Bilbo talks.
the seventeen-year time skip in the books had to be compressed in the movie because they needed to get the story going quicker and keep up momentum. Gandalf's appearance when he comes back to Bag End is meant to imply that he's even more disheveled than usual because he's ridden pretty much nonstop all the way to Minas Tirith and back.
the scenes of Gandalf in Minas Tirith were the first time Ian McKellen had been in his Gandalf the Grey costume and makeup for months, as when those were shot he had been filming as Gandalf the White for some time.
there was discussion about using subtitles onscreen to identify locations, since there was worry that audiences would have a hard time following all the different places seen throughout the movie, but ultimately it was decided that this might feel too cheesy so it was dropped.
the voice of the Ringwraith that shows up in the Shire looking for Bagginssss was done by Andy Serkis.
the Green Dragon scene was cut for time in the theatrical release, which Peter Jackson was disappointed by both because it was a chance to see the main hobbit cast in their 'natural environment' before the adventure really starts, but also because it demonstrated the hobbit tendency to be gossipy, insular and distrustful of the outside, a trait they had some difficulty getting across in the films.
the full Ring poem is never heard in the movies; the filmmakers wanted to get it in there and at one point it was recited in full during the Council of Elrond, but it wound up being cut.
the Ring 'speaks' with Sauron's voice at certain moments to try to emulate the sense of psychological horror and dread associated with descriptions of the Ring in the books, which was very hard to replicate on film.
in one very early draft of the script, Merry and Pippin would have been introduced when they were caught eavesdropping on Frodo and Gandalf along with Sam.
Jackson chose to shoot the duel between Saruman and Gandalf as physically as possible because he didn't like "wizard fights" in movies "where old guys shoot lightning out of their fingers at each other" (gotta disagree with you there Pete).
Billy Boyd offered to use a Gloucester accent for Pippin instead of his natural Scottish one, but tended to lose some of his comic timing while doing so. it was decided that the Tooks had enough of a Scottish vibe that the natural accent worked better for the character anyway.
the shot of the hobbits falling off the cliff was one of the first things ever shot for the series. it was also the cause of one of the few serious accidents during filming--one of the stuntmen dislocated his shoulder during the fall, apparently just as a freak accident as the stunt itself was not especially dangerous.
the scene where the hobbits first meet the Black Rider looks like it's in remote wilderness somewhere but was actually shot in a park in the middle of Wellington.
the insects coming out of the ground while the hobbits are hiding is meant to convey the idea that everything living tries to instinctively flee from the Ringwraiths, but Jackson admits he isn't sure if that came across well on film.
the Buckleberry Ferry almost sank between takes and had to be saved with bilge pumps.
like Bag End, the Prancing Pony set was built twice, once at normal scale and once at large scale to film the hobbit actors on. some of the people seen walking past the hobbits in the backgrounds are actually on stilts.
the basis of the Ringwraith scream sound was provided by Fran Walsh screaming while suffering from a throat infection.
no real trees were harmed during the scene of the Isengard orcs chopping down Fangorn Forest: it was two fake trees shot from different angles as they were pulled down.
the question of whether it was appropriate to reference tomatoes in the Weathertop scene (since they are new world vegetables) was apparently a source of some contention among the writers. Peter Jackson was of the opinion that in a movie with a Balrog, a tomato should not strain suspension of disbelief that much.
the fight scene with the Ringwraiths on Weathertop was the first thing Viggo Mortensen ever shot for the films, and also the first time he'd ever used a sword.
the scenes of weapons being forged in Isengard were shot in a foundry and the molten metal seen being poured is real molten steel, because they couldn't come up with a convincing way to fake the appearance of molten metal. the workers at the foundry were recruited to play the orc extras in the scene.
Lurtz was created to provide a kind of 'face' for the Uruk-Hai as well as to be a villain that could physically confront the Fellowship at the climax, since both Saruman and Sauron stay within their respective domains and, aside from Saruman's scenes with Gandalf, don't actually directly interact with the protagonists.
replacing Glorfindel with Arwen is acknowledged as taking a big chance, but the writers were already struggling with the sheer amount of introductions to new characters in the film and didn't want to introduce yet another new character only for him to almost immediately disappear from the story again.
filming the chase scene between Arwen and the Ringwraiths was interrupted by massive flooding at the location. the cast and crew took a break from filming to help shore up Queenstown with sandbags.
when Gandalf escapes from Isengard, Saruman is holding his staff with one hand because Christopher Lee had injured his other hand smashing it in a hotel room door and couldn't hold anything with it.
the scene of Sam and Frodo in Rivendell talking about going home was a pickup shot after the main filming was completed, which is why Sean Astin is noticeably thinner there than for the rest of the movie--as soon as principal photography was completed he dropped all the weight he had gained for the role.
Elrond sounds especially deep and harsh while talking to Gandalf about the weakness of men because Hugo Weaving had a bad case of flu at the time.
the Council of Elrond took 6-7 days to shoot and was "a nightmare" because of the difficulty of keeping track of the eyelines of so many people sitting in a big circle.
Sean Bean occasionally glances down during the "one does not simply walk into Mordor..." speech because he has his lines written on a piece of paper in his lap; the speech was given to him so soon before filming that he didn't have time to fully memorize it.
when Gandalf reacts to Frodo volunteering to take the Ring to Mordor, Peter Jackson told Ian McKellen to imagine that he had just heard his son volunteer to join the Army in World War One.

A saúde mental no cinema
Tumblr media
Psicopata Americano (2000)
Mary Harron
Tumblr media
As Vantagens de Ser Invisível (2012)
Stephen Chbosky

Come On Eileen, do Dexys Midnight Runners.
Tumblr media
Ilha do Medo (2010)
Martin Scorsese

Imagine the smell of fresh pastries. All of the pastries you can imagine.
Chocolate cakes, raspberry cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies, strawberry eclairs, confectioners sugar, vanilla cakes fresh from the oven.
Imagine the taste of the sweetest, most fruity desserts you can imagine, still warm from the oven, that melt in your mouth.
Or, imagine the feeling of frosting splattered all over your hands. Licking it off to taste the tantalizing flavors of blueberry and strawberry folded together into one fluffy confection. Or even flour caked all over your clothes. Messy indeed, but delightful in an unexplainably nostalgic way. Or the sound of oven dings. Or delectable treats trapped in glass display cases surrounding you in all directions like a tasty little army.
Now imagine all of these sensations every day from 8 to 4 for five days a week. Amazing, right?
Roman Dante would certainly agree.
He worked as a humble cake decorator, sometimes as a server when he was the last resort, at Sanders Bake Shop, a small local bakery with a few locations scattered around Gainesville, Florida.
It had everything you think it would: baby blue striped wallpaper, tiled floor, a delightfully large selection of treats, a modest kitchen, and smiles and kind greetings from the workers upon every customer that entered into the door.
And Roman’s location was managed by a tall, strict fellow by the name of Logan Mortensen. He was the no-nonsense, follow-the-recipe-like-your-life-depends-on-it type. Aka, not a paragon of fun, or anything really that a bakery would call for.
But, he kept the finances in check and he would scarcely run the kitchen, both of which Roman was thankful for. And Logan did admire Roman’s ability to cull the most immaculate designs for desserts from his ever-working mind, which Roman was humbly flattered by. So, overall, certainly not the worst manager he could have.
And all of his other coworkers? They were all just as sweet as the desserts they served. Especially the modest lead baker, Patton Stockton. Gosh, just talking to him gave Roman a brain cavity. A lovely lad with a heart of the purest gold. He was on a three-day vacation right now, but Roman was still overjoyed at the prospect of being able to talk to him again soon.
The oven dinged. Roman slipped two maroon oven mitts onto his hands, and he lifted open the oven door, his face being hit with the fresh scent of chocolate cake and the oven’s radiating warmth. He lifted up the cake pan and set it onto a patch of floral-decorated cloth, surrounded by many other cloth patches across a wide marble counter in the middle of the kitchen.
Roman pranced over to the pastry fridge, his steps following the invigoratingly poppy rhythm of “Don’t Stop Me Now” from Queen that flowed through his left earbud, while his right earbud waited patiently in his red apron pocket.
(The song was on his “Decoration Dancing” playlist, aka a playlist just for decorating cakes and also to jam out to on slow work days. Logan didn’t really approve of listening to music while baking, but it kept Roman productive, albeit in a very extraneous way, but productive nonetheless, so he let Roman listen to music.)
Roman opened the long glass fridge door before he quickly strode back to the cake, raised it up in his arms gently like a newborn, and after sliding back to the pastry fridge, placed it inside and shut the door behind it.
He adored his job and everything about it. He treasured every day that he stepped in the front glass doors and heard the tiny metallic pink bell above him welcome him with an adorable little ding.
But what he most admired were all the patrons of the bakeshop. The shop wasn’t swamped with people very often, so it was facile for Roman to listen to and observe all the different customers from his workspace.
There were the usual groups of small families or pairs looking for a few cookies or cupcakes to snack on, the occasional frazzled man or woman before a wedding frantically trying to pick out an extravagant cake, and, of course, tons of birthday party planners.
A parent or two would come inside with tiny, adorable children and pick out whichever design the child wanted, more than likely a Disney character or a superhero or a Barbie doll dress cake, and Roman’s heart would melt every time he saw their admiring smiles of Roman’s work.
Roman mostly stayed in the back with Patton, though, seeing as the other employees would go serve, and also because he wasn’t too good at keeping track of orders, nor was he very interested in serving anyway.
However, he still enjoyed leaning past the kitchen doorway opening with Patton and seeing all the adorable children pressing their faces against the glass in awe. Both of them cherished the patrons and watched to see what treats they’d have to whip up together.
But, enough with all of that. Roman could go on and on forever about how much he adored his job.
And besides, the bell above the door rang, signaling Roman to turn his head towards Logan, who was on the other side of the counter reading a recipe book and mixing a bowl of cupcake dough together. (Logan had to take the role of baker today, seeing as Patton eventually succumbed to Logan’s rantings about Patton needing to take a break once and awhile from constant working. Roman felt bad for anyone who had to have the drab delicacies baked up by the subpar chef.)
“Hey, Lo,” Roman whispered.
Logan looked up from the recipe, adjusting his charcoal glasses.
Roman quickly tilted his head towards the door. “I gotta answer that?”
Logan nodded. “All the servers are on break.”
“Curses,” Roman grumbled under his breath.
He pressed pause on his bop and stuffed his earbuds into his apron pocket. He took in a deep breath and put on his best Hi-how-can-I-help-you smile as he headed toward the front counter.
And even before getting past the doorway, a wave of ineffable tension struck him over the head like a falling cake tray. The tension cake was frosted with stress and topped off with eloquent piped roses of intimidation.
This dreary dude looked nothing like any of the patrons Roman’s ever observed before. Heck, he’d be more fitting on a metal album cover than at a pastel-hued bakery like this.
The patron was pretty well-sculpted physically, as if constructed out of the finest of fondants. He wore a slim, satiny leather jacket fit with zippers along the sleeve cuffs. He had a distressed purple shirt under the jacket and two chain necklaces strung along his neck, one with a blank black-rimmed dog-tag.
Ripped black jeans and knee-length spiked combat boots with skulls on them both covered his lower half. Black eyeliner and opaque black eyeshadow made the gothic guest’s green eyes even more striking. Dark circular earrings clung onto his ears. A messy tuft of black hair flowed down to his jawline.
Now, all of that raised the intimidation factor up to the extreme (and the gayness factor too, in Roman’s case. What? This grim guy looked fine). All this humdrum human needed now was a shiny black motorbike, and you’d never want to encounter him on a bad day.
But, all the fear factor of this guy with gruesome guise had a few caveats.
The somber shopper was barely 5’1”, and both his hunched-over posture and his leaning against the wall in the far left corner of the store didn’t make him look any taller.
Also, the menacing man appeared uneasy, glancing around the store constantly as if he thought a cake would leap out and attack him. So, the desolate dude’s anxiety himself settled Roman’s nerves a little bit.
But that didn’t stop his heart from pounding in his chest.
He shook his head and headed out the kitchen door, trying to gather all the courage inside him to go greet the customer. He stood behind the display counter and collected his words.
“Hello, welcome to Sanders Bake Shop!” Roman trilled clearly, despite his quick breaths.
The paranoid patron peered up at Roman, his eyes widening in a snap. He seemed more terrified of Roman than Roman was of him (which, c’mon. Roman was only a few inches taller than him, certainly not as physically fit as him, Roman’s name on his nametag was written in scribbly calligraphy with a star next to it, and Ro wore a bright white sweater under his bright red apron for Pete’s sake. He had nothing to be afraid of with Roman.) Nevertheless, the bleak boy appeared petrified. He frantically set his leaning leg down onto the ground and shamefully waved his hand.
“H… Hi,” the customer responded with a low, gravelly voice. It sounded like the crunching of tires over a rough patch in the road. It made Roman’s heart rate rise quicker.
“How-- how may I help you today?” Roman stumbled over his greeting, which he hoped with all his heart that Logan didn’t hear.
“Uh, yeah,” the cast-down customer shuffled over to the display, stuffing his hands into his jean pockets. “Still lookin’, thanks.”
Despite that answer, the morbid man still appeared to be stalking for something specific in the glass display. But Roman was just happy he could get a break, even if only for a minute.
“Alright, take your time,” Roman lopsidedly smiled, twirling his hidden earbud wire around his fingers.
A moment coated with apprehension like chocolate mousse over a fresh cake passed, where the spooked searcher uneasily peered through the display case, scanning through it with his finger, and where Roman tried his best to keep the overly cheery smile on his face. The creepy client’s curious expression made him look… strangely adorable.
“Do..” the ill-at-ease individual peered up at Roman innocently through his eyelashes and bushy hair, only raising Roman’s gay panic more, “do you guys have off-menu items here?”
“Huh? Oh,” Roman leapt out of his trance of admiring the fretting fellow. “Well, we have some more treats that aren’t in the display case, if that’s what you’re wondering.”
“Hm. Why’s that?” The worried wight asked, seemingly to get the conversation off-track on purpose.
Roman shrugged. “That stuff doesn’t sell well normally. People don’t buy it, we don’t display it.”
“Huh,” the stressed soul mused.
“Is there anything, in particular, you were looking for?” Roman tilted his head.
“Uhm..” the perturbed patron looked down. “do you have..” his voice trailed off.
“What was that?”
“strawb..”
Roman leaned over toward him. “Still can’t hear you.”
“S-Strawberry shortcake?” The dude asked, his voice dripping with shame.
And, just like that, all the tension in the room left. This figure of fear and intimidation. Ordering. A strawberry shortcake. The, unarguably, cutest dessert. That the bakery. Could possibly. Offer. A dessert more fit for a small child than for this foreboding fella.
It was precious.
“Strawberry shortcake?” Roman responded, making sure he wasn’t hallucinating. Making sure he wasn’t imagining the charming client being even more adorable. His face sparked with a smile, and he tried his best to keep himself from squealing like the toddlers that saw Roman’s cake creations.
The lovable lad nodded, holding the back of his neck with his hand.
“Yeah, we’ve got that,” Roman responded, still trying to keep himself from awwing loud enough to shake the earth.
And at that response, the fetching fella’s face irradiated with the most effervescent excitement Roman had ever seen. He nodded his head rapidly, a smile coating his pointed lips like a layer of buttercream frosting between two deliciously stacked red velvet cakes.
Roman, trying to stop himself from dying of adorableness right then and there, turned his head toward the doorway of the kitchen. “One strawberry shortcake!” he shouted at Logan, who peered up from his recipe book and gave a quick nod of his head and raised up two fingers.
(The amount of non-verbal communication Logan and Roman had together was incredible. These two could have a whole two hours of conversation without once moving their mouths. Who am I kidding, they probably already have.)
“Alright. We’ve got two in the back.”
The patron’s smile grew massively before he disgracefully let it fade from his lips. He sprawled a scowl back on the sharp lineaments of his cheeks and lowered his head toward the ground. He stuffed his hands into his pockets as his pupils glanced up at Roman through his eyelashes. “Uh, yeah.” He shrugged. “I’ll take one, I guess.”
“Okay shortcake~” Roman playfully teased.
“Ugh.” the dear covered his face with his hands, cowering away from the flirty remark. This dude really is adorable, Roman silently squealed.
“Bring one out!” Roman yelled to Logan.
Logan peered through the doorway and rolled his eyes, headed toward the back freezer.
“So..” Roman leaned on the chilly marble countertop.
“So,” the slender specter raised an eyebrow, his head raising back up.
“Got any plans later this week?” Roman asked, his heart thumping against his ribs, just barely letting his lungs get enough air to attempt to court this devilishly handsome dude.
“Not really,” he shrugged. “Why’d you ask?”
“Oh, no reason,” Roman smirked.
The lovely lad narrowed his eyes and tilted his head to the side. “Oookay.” His eyes then opened back to normal, tapping his fingers on his thighs. “Say, y’know, if I come here again,” he swayed back and forth on his heels and toes, “what’d you recommend for me to get?”
“Oh! Great question,” Roman smiled. “I’d say the mini s’mores pies myself. Not the most stunning, to be quite honest, but they certainly make up for it in chewiness and sweetness!” Roman passionately raised a finger into the air, earning a chuckle from his one and only listener. “We only sell them in pairs or more though, but I’m sure you could find someone else to share them with,” Roman winked.
“Oh my gosh,” the menacing man put his hand over his face once more. (Roman would have to rethink his flirting if the guy got this flustered every time he made a cute remark. It was fun to tease him though, Roman would admit.) “Yeah, I’m sure I could,” he considered as he lowered his hand, “maybe he’d like to share ‘em with me after his shift?” he smirked.
“Maybe he would,” Roman leaned with his elbows on the countertop, staring dreamily at the pleasing patron.
Roman then felt a sharp jab in his ribs, and he looked over to see that Logan was looming over him like an ominous spirit and had elbowed him to get his attention. “One eight-inch strawberry shortcake,” he calmly stated, holding a cardboard cake box in his other hand with the Sanders Bake Shop logo printed across the lid.
“Ah, right,” Roman stood back up, scratching the back of his neck with his hand and grabbing the box. “Uh, thank you.”
“Remember, flirting comes after work,” Logan flatly reminded Roman, leading to Roman audibly fake-cough to cover up his flustered expression with his hand. The customer chuckled.
Logan wandered back into the kitchen, arms crossed.
“So, uh, your total’s gonna be thirty-two ninety-five,” Roman displayed the total on the register. “Cash or credit?”
“Credit. I’ll save my cash for something else,” the patron gave Roman an equivocal smile.
“Alright, just swipe on the side,” Roman added. “And hey, what’s this ‘something else’ you’re talking about? I thought you said you were free this week.” Roman arched his back upward, sassily holding his hands on his hips.
“Oh, it just kinda came up now,” he furrowed his brows, “Might be going somewhere with a dude I don’t really know. And wow,” he emphasized the interjection immensely, “I think his name’s Roman too.”
“Man, what I’d give to be this guy.”
The charming client chuckled, swiping his card. “Yep.”
“Just sign here and you’ll be good to go, shortstack.”
“Hey, glass houses, you’re not that tall either,” the pretty patron noted as he grabbed the attached pen and signed his name on the screen.
Roman gasped noisily, holding a hand over his heart.
The sweetie, who Roman now saw his signature on the computer and decoded from the sharp lettering that his name was Virgil Heath, blew a quick chuckle out his nose.
“Hey wait, you’re Virgil?” Roman glanced up from the screen, his expression becoming curious.
“Yep. Always have been.”
“My last name’s Dante, like that Dante guy from The Inferno,” Roman looked at Virgil and smiled longingly.
“Hm. And Virgil was a Roman poet too. Cool,” Virgil shrugged.
“Fate must’ve brought us together,” Roman cooed.
“Gosh, you really are like a Disney prince,” he shook his head. “All ya need is a flock of woodland creatures to brush your hair for you every morning.”
“Bold of you to assume that I don’t already have birds sing me awake and deer prepare a bubble bath for me every morning at sunrise,” Roman teased.
The sweetheart burst out with laughter, making Roman’s heart flutter. “Well, then. Nice to meet ya, mister Dante.”
“Pleasure to meet you too, mister Heath,” Roman nodded with a grin spread across his lips, sliding the cardboard cake box over to Virgil and tearing a receipt from the printer.
“Just Virge is fine, I’m not that professional,” Virgil mentioned.
“Then honey-buns is just fine for me,” Roman playfully winked and let the tip of his tongue slide out of his mouth, causing Virgil to shield his eyes once more.
Roman quickly uncapped a marker and scribbled a message onto the receipt. “Okay, you are good to… go,” Roman smiled, placing the receipt face-up onto the box.
Virgil uncovered his eyes. “Alrighty,” he grabbed onto the box, lifted it from the table, and started to tread out toward the door.
“Bye-bye dear Virgil!” Roman cheerfully cried out.
“Seeya,” Virgil turned his head. “And Ro?”
Roman kept his eyes glued onto him.
“Thanks for the cake,” he smiled.
“You’re welcome,” Roman nodded, sweetly smiling at Virgil.
Virgil switched the box to one hand, the receipt still balanced on the top of the box, and opened the door. The bell dinged once more, and once Virgil left, it chimed its own sweet farewell.
Roman watched Virgil intently with his heart racing as Virgil headed back toward his car, the receipt still on the box, thankfully not flying or blowing off.
Once the dude got away from the windows, Roman let out a massive sigh and leaned against the wall. That was a lot.
But as Roman’s heart sank below the crashing tides of adoration, he hoped Virgil would see what he wrote on the receipt before tossing it.. and that Virge would hopefully have some way to respond to it.
-
A few minutes later, Roman was in the kitchen, piping extravagant curls and swirls onto a cake while the contagiously catchy “Hello” by The Cat Empire rippled through his earbuds, when the bakery’s bright red mounted phone rang through the room.
“Logan? Can you get that please?” Roman tilted his head toward the supply closet, where Logan strolled through the door and toward the phone.
“It’s ‘could I get that,’ and yes, I shall.”
Roman let out an irritated exhale. Who was Logan if he wasn’t always annoyingly correcting your grammar like an English teacher?
“Besides, I wouldn’t want you to get frosting all over the phone,” Logan declared. He strolled to the phone and lifted it from its holder and up to his ear. “Sanders Bake Shop. I’m Logan, how may I help you?”
Roman watched Logan’s face become mildly surprised upon hearing the caller. “Oh, you want to talk to Roman? Sure. I’ll put him on.”
Logan looked at Roman and tilted his head toward the phone.
Roman picked up a towel and wiped off his frosting-covered hands while he wandered over. He threw the towel onto the counter as he answered the phone and paused his music. “Hello?”
“Oh, hey, you answered,” a familiar gravelly voice responded. It was Virgil. (Huh.. using the bakery’s phone number to talk to Roman.. smart.)
Roman’s lips curled into a smirk as his fingers started twirling the phone wire. “My my my, why, isn't this the Virgil who I just met today?”
“Sure is. And I saw your note.”
Roman’s heart fluttered in his chest. He had signed the back of the receipt with a calligraphy message:
Meet me @ Prince park 4:30 this Friday? <3
Yes, he did just ask this random dude on a date, and yes, that does make him even more of a Disney prince.
“It sounds great. Frozen yogurt after?”
Roman nodded excitedly, his face igniting with a smile not unlike that of an excited child’s, which received a perplexed observing Logan in response. “Yes! Yes, perfect.”
“Nice. I’m sure it’ll be a real slice.” Roman could hear Virgil smirking over the phone.
Roman smiled at the Hercules reference. “Absolutely! I’ll see you then.”
“Bye.”
Roman hung the phone back onto the wall.
“Let me guess. Virgil?”
“How do you know his name?” Roman pursed his lips.
“You’re not exactly quiet when you’re head-over-heels obsessed with someone,” Logan noted.
“Uh, rude! This is not an,” Roman mocked with air-quotes, “‘obsession,’ this is the start of a lifelong romance!” Roman offendedly corrected him.
“Sure it is,” Logan monotonically responded as he averted his gaze up to the ceiling. He then looked back at Roman. “Anyway, I thought I’d inform you that your shift’s over now.”
“Wait, really?” Roman glanced at the clock, seeing that it was indeed 4 PM, the end of his shift. “Oh! It is!”
“Yes,” Logan adjusted his glasses. “Glad you got that door then, huh?”
“I sure am.” Roman chuckled. “Huh.. Logan, the sealer of fate, and the ultimate wingman.”
Logan raised his eyebrows. “Apparently.”
“Well, I guess I’ll get going now,” Roman untied his apron and pulled it off his neck, strolling over to the apron hangers. He pulled his phone and car keys out of his apron pocket and hung his apron on the rack. He stuffed his phone into his denim jeans pocket.
“Goodbye Logan!”
“Farewell,” Logan waved.
“Thanks for getting me a date,” Roman smiled.
“Don’t mention it,” Logan lowered his hand. “See you tomorrow.”
“Yep!” Roman called out, parading backwards out of the kitchen doorway and turning around to cheerfully promenade out of the store, turning on “Livin’ On A Prayer” from his drive home playlist and letting the contagiously poppy beats fill his ears.
Wow. He just got a date from a day at work, and yet he’s still just listening to his tunes and making his usual commute home.
Yep, that’s Roman Dante for you.

Green Book (2018)
White people tell black people all about racism (again) in this year’s surprise Best Picture victor. Well, pleasantly surprised to a few people — Roma was initially considered the frontrunner, quite possibly of those with their finger within the pulse associated with Hollywood possessed already forecast Green Book’s success. One such pundit was Deadline’s Pete Hammond, an incredibly pro-Green Book voice, though his post-show analysis has a tendency to propose it only won as a result of efforts by means of some Ecole members to rig the vote against Netflix… The reaction to Green Book possesses already been an odd a person. It was initially well received, being successful the People’s Choice Prize after its premiere from TIFF, and racking up approval from both equally critics (a Licensed Fresh 79% about Rotten Tomatoes) and followers (8. 3 on IMDb, which places it 128th with their Top 250 list). Nevertheless the more commonly it is been seen in addition to reviewed, the more this tide features turned, specifically as a varied market has come to it. In its surface, the movie is about defeating racism — it’s the particular true story associated with some sort of bigoted Italian Us (Viggo Mortensen) serving seeing as a new driver for talented Camera American pianist Dr Add Shirley (Mahershala Ali) as he goes on a live show visit of the Heavy South while in segregation — but it is very instructed fully from the white wine guy’s perspective. Coming on the idea from the standpoint of any white guy also, I am able to see why people currently have liked the movie. It’s decently entertaining, along with likeable shows from Mortensen and Ali, who have great hormone balance. A Quiet Place Part 2 download Their chalk-and-cheese relationship is funny without tipping over in to outright comedy; plus, naturally, the way they come to acquire coupled is usually Heartwarming. Although it’s likewise a completely unchallenging motion picture. There’s just enough racism that you get in order to go “ooh, were not things unpleasant back then! ” and be joyed whenever the characters defeat it in various ways, however not so much as to express the actual outrage and horror connected with the era — or perhaps, indeed, the way the idea remains today. You’d assume racism was more or less solved by way of that pair getting together back in ’62. And that is a huge part involving the difficulty with the particular film. If you’d produced this something like 20 or 30 years ago, that level of discourse might be good — beginning to help make old light men experience up to what happened simply by softening it a little, simply by letting these people see themselves within the whitened guy. Now, it all looks kinda naïve plus simplistic. The more you get into it, the whole lot more you realise Golf course Guide has some everything needed hurtful elements of their unique. I mean, the white gentleman actually helps the african american man or woman to become a better black guy! That’d be offensive in the fictional, nevertheless when we were looking at authentic people it seems undesirable. I suppose the counterargument may possibly be that the black man helps make the white-colored guy better too, bettering his capacity to publish like letters, as if that was some type of common beneficial exchange. Nevertheless it is very not equal, is the idea? Plus it’s again almost all from the white guy’s viewpoint: he’s fundamentally great however hey, a tad of a polish wouldn’t hurt, whereas the black color guy needs a figure change that apparently only this particular straight-talking white dude can give him. But hi, seldom just take this from this white guy. For instance, check out and about this specific piece by simply Justin Alter at the D. A. Times about this film and the reception in the wake from the big win. It digs into the film’s concerns plus techniques better when compared to how I ever before could. A good side note regarding typically the film’s title: it is taken from The Negro Cars Green Book, a guide book to help African Us citizens take a trip in the segregated South by listing organizations that would take these individuals. They do use it within the film… briefly, about three periods total. Anyone feel like a motion picture depicting how and the reason why the volume came directly into lifetime might’ve made regarding a good more fresh account. In the end, We come across Green Book a little difficult to rate. On its way to it as a good white viewer, it’s a great enjoyably safe trip into history, with charming heroes on enough of a new personal journey to provide it a story arch, but not so much regarding one as to actually make it challenging. Similarly, that has some sort of simplistic but not essentially negative motif (“racism is undesirable, yo”). In that mindset, it’s a nice, feel-good two hours. Yet, considering it’s 2019 not 1989, I might absolutely see why many are clamouring for additional nuanced engagement with these concerns. I wouldn’t call the idea a bad movie, although it is an old fashioned one, and definitely not this best of what 2018 had to offer.

Have it be that Sinestro used the ring to better his own world and his people love him, but the Guardians saw that as interference and marked Sinestro as a threat)

One of the best forms of enjoyment is watching Films. For fans of movies! Once again, WhatsOn editors are here to make your weekend worthwhile with Film Friday, bringing you an interesting collection of the most recent movies. Enjoy the movies we've chosen for you as you make some popcorn. Tama Sarker writes 1. Lightyear The film is produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios in 2022, and the enjoyable computer-animated science fiction action-adventure movie Lightyear is released by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The movie, which is the fifth overall in the franchise, is a spin-off of the Toy Story movie series. A threat to the security of the universe is encountered as Lightyear, who is playing the role of a space ranger, searches for a way back home while battling it after becoming marooned on a hostile planet with his commander and crew. It revolves around the character Buzz Lightyear, however, the movie promotes itself as a subseries of the Toy Story movies in which Lightyear is a character, as opposed to following the main franchise's roster of toy characters. https://youtu.be/BwZs3H_UN3k 2. Bodies Bodies Bodies Halina Reijn is the director of the 2022 American black comedy slasher film Bodies, Bodies, Bodies. Amandla Stenberg, Maria Bakalova, Myha'la Herrold, Chase Sui Wonders, Rachel Sennott, Lee Pace, and Pete Davidson are among the actors who appear in the movie. In this new and humorous look at backstabbing, fake pals, and one party that went horribly wrong, a bunch of wealthy 20-somethings prepare a hurricane party at a distant family house. However, a party game turns fatal. It had its international premiere on March 14 at South by Southwest, and A24 released it on August 5 of that same year. https://youtu.be/cTzGKsZjBOY 3. Thirteen Lives American biographical survival film Thirteen Lives, based on the Tham Luang cave rescue, was produced and directed by Ron Howard in 2022 from a screenplay by William Nicholson. Viggo Mortensen, Colin Farrell, Joel Edgerton, and Tom Bateman all appear in the movie. The movie plot starts In Thailand, a rescue effort is organized for a group of young boys and their soccer coach who are stranded in a network of flooding underground tunnels. United Artists Releasing's Thirteen Lives premiered in a few cinemas on July 29, 2022, and on August 5 it became available for streaming on Prime Video. Critics gave it largely favorable reviews. https://youtu.be/R068Si4eb3Y 4. Darlings From a screenplay by Parveez Sheikh, Darlings is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language black comedy-drama film that Jasmeet K. Reen co-wrote and directed in her directorial debut. It was also produced by Gauri Khan, Alia Bhatt (in her debut production), and Gaurav Verma under the banners of Red Chillies Entertainment and Eternal Sunshine Productions. It chronicles the lives of two ladies as they discover bravery and love in the face of extreme odds. The movie had the most non-English original Indian viewing hours ever in its first weekend with over 10 million. On August 5th, 2022, Netflix made it available. https://youtu.be/Dmx5KDOpqeg 5. Wedding Season Tom Dey's Indian-American romantic comedy, the film Wedding Season, is based on Shiwani Srivastava's screenplay. Suraj Sharma, Pallavi Sharda, Rizwan Manji, Veena Sood, Ari Afsar, Sean Kleier, and Manoj Sood are all featured in the movie. Two Indian-Americans who are under pressure from their immigrant parents to find husbands pretend to date in order to get through a summer full of weddings, but as they battle to strike a balance between who they are and who their parents want them to be, they find themselves falling in love.

Becontree Estate London Commissions
The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) is marking the centenary of the ground-breaking Becontree Estate in East London with an ambitious series of art and architecture commissions, accompanied by events and a learning programme.
Once described as the largest council estate in the world, the Becontree Estate in the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham remains the largest council estate in the UK, home to over 75,000 residents. Built 100 years ago and conceived as part of the Garden City movement, it was a feat of government planning and radical housing policy. Becontree set the agenda for housing that put wellbeing for its residents and typological innovation at the heart of its design. It was the originator of the cul-de-sac and most houses had both front and back gardens – unprecedented for public housing at the time.
Today, Becontree is a different estate, shaped by 100 years of changes in political decision-making, shifts in demographics and post-industrialization. The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is working to renew and revive the estate for current residents and future generations.
The Becontree centenary is a partnership project between Create London, London Borough of Barking & Dagenham (LBBD) and RIBA, supported by LBBD and the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Additional support has been granted by Arts Council England and the Span Trust.
Marie Bak Mortensen, Head of Exhibitions at RIBA:
“RIBA is delighted to be part of the Becontree Centenary. Through a variety of projects we aim to form new understandings of the estate by both residents and non-residents. The exhibitions and commissions highlight the role that residents have played in the development of Becontree since 1921 and the changing relationship between the physical space and its community.”

Lived in Architecture – Becontree Estate at 100
An artist commission with Verity-Jane Keefe, part of the Becontree Centenary programme
30 September 2021 – 05 February 2022
Architecture Gallery, RIBA, 66 Portland Place, London, W1. FREE ADMISSION
Drawing on her long-term engagement with the Becontree Estate as an artist in residence, RIBA has commissioned Verity-Jane Keefe to respond to the estate, it’s history and current community as it looks forward to the next 100 years.
Keefe has approached the estate as an archive in itself, analysing the layering and alterations to its buildings as a means of understanding the impact that housing policy and political decision-making have at ground level. The artist’s study of these physical outcomes reveals the impact of right to buy and de-industrialization amidst the lived experiences of the residents.
New artwork by Keefe will be presented alongside 33 objects from the RIBA Collections. This juxtaposition will highlight how adaptions, extensions and home-improvements by Becontree residents follow the same trajectory we see throughout history – that architecture is never finished, but ever-evolving as part of post-occupancy and over time reflects broader changes in society.
The commission is co-curated by RIBA and Create London, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The Tree of a Man named Beohha – Becontree now by Kalpesh Lathigra
30 September – 05 February 2022
First Floor Gallery, RIBA, 66 Portland Place, London, W1. FREE ADMISSION
Photographer Kalpesh Lathigra has been commissioned to produce new work that will offer a nuanced study of the architecture on the Becontree Estate in 2021. The series complements the exhibition with Verity-Jane Keefe. Working predominantly on international projects, Lathigra was born, raised and still resides in East London. Through this commission, he will turn his attention to an area that is both familiar and new to him. It will be his debut public solo show in the UK, with the photographs being permanently accessioned into the RIBA Collections.
The commission is supported using public funding by Arts Council England and Span Trust.
Regent’s Park Installation ‘Bringing Home to the Unknown‘

Regent’s Par
Opening 30 September 2021
A collaboration between students from Mayesbrook Park School, an alternative provision school in Becontree, and social enterprise POoR (Power Out of Restriction) Collective will result in a new public realm installation in central London’s Regent’s Park. This is the culmination of a series of workshops that have explored ideas of belonging and activating public spaces. The installation will express the young people’s collective experiences of central London as a mythical place – a landmark in their memory – that represents an area so close to Becontree, yet so far away from their reality and daily life. Through a colourful and functional structure, the young people will take residence in the park, using their voice to create a place where they can have a genuine stake in and invite park dwellers to perform new uses of the iconic park with them.
The commission delivered in partnership with Royal Parks and is supported using public funding by Arts Council England and Span Trust.

Squaring the Corners – a permanent landscape commission by nimtim architects with artist Katie Schwab
Becontree Estate
On site Nov 2021- Feb 2022; launch March 2022
The Becontree Estate, one of the first and largest estates informed by the ideas of the Garden City movement was designed with a vast amount of open, green space including over 2,000 ‘corner plots’ at the end of rows of houses, which are now often neglected or underused.
This commission with nimtim architects and artist Katie Schwab will redesign 12 of these into 3 new public squares for people to rest, play, grow and meet. Each square encourages new activities and performs new functions by inviting residents to take ownership of them. The designs are inspired by geometries, colours, and materials that already exist within the estate.
The Corner Plot commission is co-commissioned by Create London and RIBA, supported by London Borough of Barking & Dagenham through Strategic Community Infrastructure Levy
The Architecture Gallery commission with artist Verity-Jane Keefe is co-curated by Pete Collard, RIBA and Diana Ibáñez López, Create London.
The photography commission is co-curated by Pete Collard and Marie Bak Mortensen, RIBA.
The Becontree Centenary is a partnership project between Create London, London Borough of Barking & Dagenham (LBBD) and RIBA, supported by LBBD and the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
RIBA’s projects are part of Becontree Forever, a programme led by LBBD to celebrate the estate’s groundbreaking and radical beginnings and reimagine its future. becontreeforever.uk
Verity-Jane Keefe is a visual artist working predominantly in the public realm to explore the complex relationship between people and place. She is interested in the role and potential of the artist within urban regeneration. Working with moving image, text and installation to explore possible taxonomies of everyday life. She has a long-term working relationship with Barking and Dagenham, making work for, about and with the borough since 2006 as well as across outer London and internationally. Since 2018, Keefe has been working on Living Together, a multidisciplinary art project https://livingtogether.org.uk/. She is also lead artist on the design team for a Good Growth Funded project in Thamesmead, with Peabody, reopening a former social club in 2022.
Kalpesh Lathigra’s work occupies the space between documentary and art. He was educated in Photojournalism at the London College of Printing before joining the Independent as a staff photographer and later covering news and features as a freelancer for the UK national press. In 2000, he left newspaper work to dedicate his practice to documentary projects and assignments. In 2003, he embarked on a long-term project documenting the lives of widows in India, receiving The W.Eugene Smith Fellowship. Kalpesh published the monograph Lost in the Wilderness in 2015, a five-year body of work looking at life with the Oglala Sioux at the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. His forthcoming book Memoire Temporelle will be published in 2021.
Create London is an arts organisation that has pioneered working with artists to realise new social enterprises, charities and cultural spaces. Power Out of Restriction is a social enterprise that focuses on the development of communities through the elevation of young people. POoR sees the power of the younger generation and seeks to get young voices heard. Through knowledge sharing and design, we aim to bridge the gap between communities, bring together a wealth of demographics, and empower the youth of today.
