A Model of Early Christian Living How Did the Philippian Church Live Out the Gospel? The Philippian church was the first Christian church in Europe, located in what is now northeastern Greece. Before the Roman occupation, the city was the capital of the Greek Empire. Under Roman rule, Philippi became a melting pot of race and culture. “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in…

Small Man to the Sacred Family in Village of Horses, Chapter 2 Verse 12
My much-loved family, you have always followed my guidance, not only when I was with you but much more now that I am away. So then, with great respect, you must walk the path Creator has given you for being set free and made whole. — Philippians 2:12 | First Nations Version (FNV-NT) First Nations Version: New Testament ©2023 Rain Ministries, a non-profit 501© and an Arizona Corporation. finishing Philippians 4
Tumblr media
This week we have taken a dive through Philippians 4.  This literally is one of my favorite chapters of the Bible.  I have a lot of favorites.  As I said a couple times earlier one of my first Bible promises came from verses 6 and 7 (my first Bible promises were from Psalm 139:23-24 and 150:6).
We have talked about peace and how God gives us that gift for leaving behind worry.  His peace is stronger than anything we know and far beyond anything we have yet to experience.  But what we might not have heard, or at least mentioned in these e-devotion, is that the best thing we learn is from verse 9 as it says “the God of peace with be with you.”
Not only will we have peace.  We will have God with us.  He brings peace with Him.  I love that.
But as we close out this week of e-devotions and our dive through Philippians 4 we find some final words from Paul.  Let me share and summarize those a bit for us…
Philippians 4:10-23  NLT
How I praise the Lord that you are concerned about me again… 11 Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. 12 I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. 13 For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. 14 Even so, you have done well to share with me in my present difficulty. 15 As you know, you Philippians were the only ones who gave me financial help when I first brought you the Good News… 17 I don’t say this because I want a gift from you. Rather, I want you to receive a reward for your kindness. 18 At the moment I have all I need—and more! I am generously supplied with the gifts you sent me with Epaphroditus… 19 And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus… 23 May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
That is a lot to digest, and I even condensed a little.  Here are the highlights, and this is so, so good.
When people are concerned about you, it really is encouraging!
We must learn to be content if we have a little or if we have a lot.  I have learned that.
Christ gives us strength and the ability to do so much.  I leave verse 13.
The people blessed Paul and were so generous.  He wanted them to be blessed even more.
Paul pointed them, and now points us as well, to know that it is all about the grace of God.
May we learn to go through Scripture, grab on to what God is saying and watch Him change our lives.  He is molding us to be more and more like Jesus.  This chapter is only a small part of all the God is doing.  My prayer is that you have taken time to dive in these verses and grow with me.
God is good!  Philippians 4 proves that fact once more.

"GOD SEES YOUR POTENTIAL"
Judges 6:15-16, “But Gideon said to Him, “Please Lord, how am I to rescue Israel? Behold, my family is the least [significant] in Manasseh, and I am the youngest (smallest) in my father’s house.” The Lord answered him, “I will certainly be with you, and you will strike down the Midianites as [if they were only] one man.” (AMP) There was a sign that read Antique Auto Show, so Rob and his wife…

1 Peter 4:12 - 19 Hard Sell Trials and Persecution 1 Peter 1:1, 2
If you don't suffer grief, then you have died before those who love and care for you.
If you don't factor suffering into your world view you are ill prepared to live in this world. Christians will suffer and your shouldn't be surprised when it happens. Any teachings to the contrary are false.
vs 13
Philippians 1:29
The people who are persecuting you see something of Jesus in you. vs 14
Matthew 5:3 - 12
We recieve the ministry of the Holy Spirit when we are suffering.
vs 15 - 18
vs 19 Commit to God.
If you don't factor in eternity you are ill prepared for suffering.

Better and Brighter Together
12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. 14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing, 15 that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a…

The Surrender (God Is...)
This post originated with a message from Arise Church. In this scene from the show Turn, George Washington accepts the British surrender at the end of the American Revolution. This was the moment that solidified Washington’s status as perhaps the Father of our nation. Everywhere you look, the United States remembers George Washington. He graces the one-dollar bill and the quarter; our capital is…

"DON'T LET THE PRESSURE STOP YOUR PRESS!"
“I gave up all that inferior stuff so I could know Christ personally, experience His resurrection power, be a partner in His suffering, and go all the way with Him to death itself. If there was any way to get in on the resurrection from the dead, I wanted to do it.” (Philippians 3:10-11 MSG) While John was a prisoner on the Isle of Patmos, far from his loved ones and surrounded by the cries of…

United We Stand - Philippians 2:1-2
In an age when division is all around us, it is more important than ever that their be unity among God’s people.  We must stand together on the Word of God, and in the love that we share as brothers and sisters.  This must not be seen as optional, but necessary for the church to continue to have an impact.
