"I advise you, have patience and don’t abandon ceaseless noetic prayer, don’t allow God to depart from near you. Joseph was in Egypt, in the place of sin, and he did not sin because he recalled God, he had Him near him. Adam was in paradise, where sin did not exist, but because he forgot God, he disobeyed Him and listened to the devil, and he lost paradise. So it is not the place, but the manner which saves man." + Blessed memory of Elder Philotheos Zervakos

How monks and laity should approach the Mystery of the Divine Communion
Tumblr media
Image: Archimandrite Philotheos Zervakos
The present text is a letter of Archimandrite Philotheos Zervakos to a spiritual son, published under this title in the magazine "Orthodoxos. Philoteos Martyria", nr. 40-42, January-September, Thessalonica, 1991, pp. 139-143.
The abbot of Philotheus was from a very young age under the guidance of Saint Nektarios of Enghina the miracle worker, whom he had as a spiritual father. From 1930 until his death (i.e. almost for 50 years) he was the abbot of Loggobardas Monastery in Paros, being one of the most appreciated confessors. He attempted a union of sacramental liturgical spirituality with hesychast philokokic spirituality.
The point of view expressed by Patriarch Philotheos Kokkinos on the matter of Holy Communion, presented and appropriated by Abbot Philotheos Zervakos, remains topical and has a special importance from a theological and spiritual point of view.

I realized that, whenever Phantom Blot is shown as a kid, he doesn't have his characteristic mask (for obvious reasons)

However! In "Tainted Image", his brother, White Phantom (aka Philotheos) is shown with a white mask, but PB is off-frame... 🤔

Today we also celebrate our Venerable Father Daniel of Katounakia. Elder Daniel, known in the world as Dimitrios Dimitriadis, was born in 1846 in a family of a armourer in Smyrna, he was the youngest child in the family and was characterized by outstanding abilities. In his teenage years Dimitrios knew by heart almost all Philokalia. At the island of Paros, he met Saint Arsenius of Paros who blessed Dimitrios to go to St. Panteleimon monastery at Mt. Athos. In St. Panteleimon monastery, he was tonsured a monk with the name of Daniel. Later he lived in Vatopaidi monastery. For 10 years he suffered with nephritis and on August 31, when the Vatopaidi monastery celebrated the feast of Holy Belt of the Mother of God, he was suddenly healed. After 5 years in Vatopaidi he moved to Katounakia where lived alone for 3.5 years. Starting from 1883, other monks started to settle there, so that Danielaioi brotherhood was formed. Elder Daniel was offered to be a bishop but considered himself to be unworthy of it. Elder Daniel had a gift of spiritual counsel and consolation in sorrows. He guarded or cured from prelest many monks and lay persons. He was in spiritual friendship with St. Nectarios of Pentapolis. Also he was in correspondence with Philotheos (Zervakos) of Paros and other monks from the monastery of Longovarda at the island of Paros. Elder Daniel guarded them from the heresy of theologian A. Makrakis. About 200 letters to the abbess Theodosia from the monastery at the island of Tinos and 70 other writings of elder Daniel are available until now. In September of 1929, the elder fell ill with a cold. He was foreboding his death and asked to take the Holy Communion. On September 8/21 1929, on the day of the Nativity of the Mother of God, after the Divine Liturgy and the Sacrament of Anointment of the Sick, elder Daniel reposed. His memory is celebrated on the day before. May he intercede for us always + Source: https://orthodoxwiki.org/Daniel_Katounakiotis (at Mount Athos) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cis1gHYr9qs/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The Greek Orthodox Priest in Akko, Israel
The Greek Orthodox Priest in Akko, Israel
Here’s my article in Israel21C. A story of inspiration, spiritual, faith and hope. He calls himself Father Philotheos, meaning “a friend of God” in Greek. As the priest of the Greek Orthodox St. George Church in the Old City of Acre (Akko) in northern Israel, he serves 600 Greek Orthodox residents of the city as well as 30,000 people in 14 surrounding villages in the Western Galilee. Among his…

It is through unceasing watchfulness that we can perceive what is entering into us & can to some extent close the door against it, calling upon our Lord Jesus Christ to repel our malevolent adversaries. Attentiveness obstructs the demons by rebutting them; and Jesus, when invoked, disperses them together with all their fantasies.

An oc Inspired by this year's theme for artfight! Their name is Philotheos, they have 4 hands + they create blooming flowers which produce small amounts of light. They're a supper chill skeleton, although they're quite anxious. They mostly spend their free time in a library, or in a cave, reading. Very neutral, although will poison anyone with flowers, if in danger.
(They also make other plants, like mushrooms, but that depends on their mood. )

On Watchfulness
"You must direct your wrath only against the demons, for they wage war upon us through our thoughts and are full of anger against us. As regards the manner of the hourly warfare within us, listen and act accordingly. Combine prayer with inner watchfulness, for watchfulness purifies prayer, while prayer purifies watchfulness. It is through unceasing watchfulness that we can perceive what is entering into us and can to some extent close the door against it, calling upon our Lord Jesus Christ to repel our malevolent adversaries. Attentiveness obstructs the demons by rebutting them; and Jesus, when invoked, disperses them together with all their fantasies. Be extremely strict in guarding your intellect. When you perceive an evil thought, rebut it and immediately call upon Christ to defend you; and while you are still speaking, Jesus in His gentle love will say: 'Behold, I am by your side ready to help you.' When this whole detachment of the enemy has been put out of action through prayer, again turn your attention to your intellect. There you will see a succession of waves worse than before, with the soul swimming among them. But again, awakened by His disciple, Jesus as God will rebuke the winds of evil (cf. Matt. 8:23-27). Having found respite for an hour perhaps, or for a moment, glorify Him who has saved you."

The present transitory life is like the sea, and we are the ships. Just as ships at sea, we don't encounter only peace, but many times we meet with strong winds and great storms, scandals, temptations, sicknesses, sorrows, distress, persecutions, and various dangers. We mustn't lose courage, however. We must be bold, courageous, and faithful. If we lose courage in the face of dangers, as timid humans of little faith, let us call on Christ as Peter did, and He will reach out His hand and help us.

The King’s Heart
Tumblr media
Zeus and Hera had argued again, I mean…they always argued, but recently, they did it A LOT.
To calm down, Zeus decided to go on a walk through Greece. He didn’t know how, but he ended up face to face with a small temple, in the middle of literally nowhere.
Entering, Zeus cringed, how old was this temple? It was in an extremely dire condition. When was the last time someone cleaned it?
He didn’t know how it started, but he was obsessed with the temple’s priest. That first day, he bonded with Y/N.
Zeus was sure faith was playing a trick on him, how was he supposed to resist a man like Y/N? He was so handsome, so sincere, so kind, so devoted.
Almost everyday, Zeus found himself going to the small temple, making up a lie to meet with the priest.
“Please, teach me how to pray.”
Zeus felt disgusted, taking advantage of the man’s devotion so that they could be together.
So, he learned and assisted Y/N in rituals. Learning, for example, the rituals and prays for Athena, Dionysus and even Aphrodite.
Zeus felt a little bit jealous, Y/N was so devoted. Zeus wanted Y/N to be like that just for himself.
While this was going on, Hera and Zeus’ relation got worst, with Hera even finding comfort in other people’s arms.
Hera was always a vindictive woman, and her wrath soon reached Y/N. However, the young priest always seemed to survive.
I wonder if that has to do with the King of Olympus? Indeed, it has.
Advised by his daughter, Athena, Zeus decided to break off with Hera. Their relationship was affecting Greece, if the King and Queen aren’t at peace, what is going to happen to Greece?
As soon as he was divorced, Zeus found himself in Y/N’s temple. He just hoped Y/N would love him too.
“I love you, I love you than I could ever love myself, Y/N.”
Y/N’s love was as pure and truthful as prayers. That same day, Zeus found himself on Y/N’s bed.
“Let me hear your moans, my little priest. Let me hear your devotion for me~”
It didn’t take long for the two men to marry. Y/N become God of Tranquility, Security, Calmness and Peace.
It is safe to say that Y/N kept Olympus united, his anergy was pure and calming, his kept the hotheaded Zeus in check.
Soon, the two Kings started a family: Alethea (Goddess of Emotions), Philotheos (God of Triumph), Solos (God of Joy and Happiness), Eudocia (Godess of Dreams), Hypathia (Godess of Clouds) and Theocritus (God of Storms)
Zeus was truly happy, happier than he could have ever been.

The "Good" Housewife
Well if I was a good housewife made a doctor, most of my remedies would involve white wine and making a beer-tea thing, too! "White wine is a brave clean brisk drink" Btw, don't take any real medical advice from seventeenth century man-splainers telling housewives what to do.
Long title: The good houswife made a doctor, or, Health's choice and pure friend : being a plain way of nature's own prescribing to prevent and cure most diseases incident to men, women and children by diet and kitchin-physick only / being an appendix to the book entitled The way to health, or a further demonstration of the philosophy therein contained. With some remarks on the practice of physick and chymistry, by Philotheos Physiologus [i.e. Thomas Tryon]. 1690.
