Community headcanons. Yes, it's my current hyperfixation.
Tumblr media
Jeff Winger:
-Has ODD(Oppositional Defiant Disorder)
-Everyone thinks he's a narcissist but in reality he's just self sufficient
-The entire study group thinks he's secretly rich
- Firm believer that sexuality is fluid and has definitely explored its.. options...
-Lactose intolerant but is oddly insecure about it
-His leader position in the group comes from his need to be in control because he feels like any factor in his life that was out of his control went wrong.
Tumblr media
Britta Perry:
-First, I wanna say her character was absolutely ruined. She had so much great potential.
-Uses activism to make her feel good about herself but after Annie and Shirley wanted to become activists, she felt like she lost her individuality. She stopped paying attention.
-She has a strong need for everyone to like her and has a crippling fear of abandonment.
-She thinks her real issues are with her dad but really, they're with her mom.
-Queer.
-She thinks she's the mom friend when in reality, it's Shirley.
Tumblr media
Abed Nadir:
-He's probably the most complex character in the series. Also I consider him to be a comfort character so this is partial projecting..
-Daddy issues.. kinda canon
-He knows he's on the spectrum even though in the show he never gets/got a diagnosis because the thought of actually being different and not just having small "quirks" scares him.
-He understands and has romantic feelings but can't pursue them for long periods of time, he's probably scared of commitment and only commits to the study group because they're all so different that he doesn't feel excluded.
-Also canon, but he despises change.
-Craves physical touch but only from Troy.
-He has selective mutism.
-Maladaptive daydreams.
Tumblr media
Troy Barnes:
-ADHD
-Codependent on Abed because he lacks self awareness and Abed being uncomfortably self aware helps him feel balanced.
-His crush on Britta was platonic.
-He can't tell the difference between platonic and romantic feelings.
-He's terrified of being alone.
-Part of him thinks he and Abed are more than friends but part of him really doesn't want that.
-Pansexual.
Tumblr media
Annie Edison:
-ADHD
-Lesbian.
-Her crush on Jeff was purely comphet and stems from her parental issues and Jeff's parental position in the group.
-Her parents were probably homophobic and she tried coming out but then later just pulled the "I'm confused" card.
-She was in therapy but she stopped going because she had to pay for it herself.
-She's the "therapist" friend, but gives pretty bad advice because she has too many of her own problems.
Tumblr media
Shirley Bennett:
-Hyperempathetic.
-She thinks everyone's problems are her responsibility.
-She uses religion as a crutch but has questioned her faith a considerable amount of times.
-Making food is therapeutic for her.
-The actual mom friend but hates the pressure of being a maternal figure.
-Scared of failure and projects that fear onto her friends.
-She has a bad habit of deflecting.
Tumblr media
Pierce Hawthorne:
-Insufferable bastard.
-When Jeff graduated he wanted to take the "dad" position since he had always wanted kids.
-He had one wife and they were married for 2 months, he just says he has seven because he thinks he sounds cool.
-Has been to rehab numerous times.
-Thinks he can relate to the study group but the study group thinks he's utterly insane.
Tumblr media
Chang...:
-He was bullied as a child.
-No sense of self and is always trying to find an identity.
-After his wife left he searched high and low for what's wrong with him, he's just eccentric.
-All of his elaborate stunts are because he wants to be noticed because he has a fear of being forgotten.
-Bisexual.
I'm not putting the dean. You can't make me.

Breast Tissue Markers Market to Witness Excellent Revenue Growth Owing to Rapid Increase in Demand
Breast tissue markers provide the advantage of identifying and marking the biopsy area by marking them with a physical label that provides the surgeon with an advantage in diagnosis and surgery. The traditional method involves the use of a regular stainless steel marker. However, more advanced breast tissue markers such as bioabsorbable and mineral markers are used to ensure complete patient satisfaction with the procedure. Coil breast tissue markers are one of the most widely used systems and have a significant share of the breast tissue marker market. The rate of growth of the breast tissue marker market is directly related to research and innovation in diagnostic technology and bioabsorbable materials, leading to more advanced applications in biopsy technology and diagnostic fields. According to the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), only 63,000 cases of all people with breast cancer are expected to be affected by in situ breast cancer in the U.S., including 2,000 men, and nearly 16% of cases will result in death from Breast -Cancer. Breast cancer rates began to drop dramatically after 2002 when a study by the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) published the link between breast cancer and hormone replacement therapy.

Global Leigh Syndrome Treatment market is Estimated to Witness High Growth Owing to Increasing Disease Awareness
Tumblr media
The global Leigh syndrome treatment market is expected to exhibit significant growth due to rising prevalence of the rare genetic disorder. Leigh syndrome is a rare and aggressive neurological disorder caused by mutations in mitochondrial DNA or nuclear genes involved in mitochondrial biogenesis and respiration. The characteristic symptoms of Leigh syndrome include developmental delay, loss of motor skills, weakness, vision problems, and respiratory issues. Currently, there is no definitive treatment for Leigh syndrome. Treatments mainly focus on managing symptoms by targeting the underlying cause. Therapies primarily include vitamin and nutritional supplements, physical and occupational therapy, and medications targeting respiratory and neurological complications.
The global Leigh syndrome treatment market is estimated to be valued at US$ 272.9 million  in 2024 and is expected to exhibit a CAGR of 6.7% over the forecast period from 2024 to 2031. Key Takeaways Key players operating in the Global Leigh Syndrome Treatment Market Growth are Abliva AB, PTC Therapeutics, VAKS Pharma, MITOCH, Medley Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Khondrion BV, OMEICOS THERAPEUTICS GMBH. , Edison Pharmaceuticals, Inc. , Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma Co. Ltd., Taysha GTx, PicnicHealth (AllStripes), Takeda Pharmaceutical Company , Biogen, Ionis Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Sarepta Therapeutics, Inc., and MECOSON LABS PRIVATE LIMITED. The global Leigh syndrome treatment market is expected to witness lucrative growth opportunities due to increasing research funding for rare disease drug development and growing orphan drug designations. Furthermore, advancements in understanding the genetics and underlying mechanisms of Leigh syndrome are likely to aid the development of novel targeted treatment options. Key players are actively focusing on expanding their geographical presence through collaborations and partnerships with regional healthcare providers to cater to the growing patient population worldwide. For instance, in 2021, Khondrion partnered with Taysha Gene Therapies to accelerate the clinical development of KH-176, a gene therapy drug candidate for Leigh syndrome. Market Drivers The primary driver propelling the global Leigh syndrome treatment market growth is increasing disease awareness driven by advocacy programs by patient support groups such as United Leukodystrophy Foundation and Cure Sanfilippo Foundation. Growing government efforts to provide orphan drug incentives and streamline the approval process for rare disease drug candidates are also expected to encourage pharmaceutical companies to invest in Leigh syndrome drug R&D.

Peace I leave with you, My peace I gives to you; not as the world gives do I give to you ; Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.  This means that Jesus Christ is responsible for giving us true peace and not as the world gives to you.  Let not your hearts be troubled.  This means that we should not worry and become stressful over needful things.  I know that for me Jesus Christ is responsible for giving me the right peace that I am talking about.  I will admit that I used to cry out and be stressful over small things and not of matters of the heart.
Next, I used to be a person who would demand things from other people.  What really changed my overall behavior tremendously is that I got into a car accident with my best male friend in Dayton, Ohio on the Corner of East Third Street and Keowee back on April 9, 1984.  I was going on 19 years old during that time.  I will also admit that I was intoxicated due to drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana two hours earlier that day. I was rushed to Miami Valley Hospital for 72 hours of observation.  Three months later, I had  broken my left hand playing basketball intoxicated due to drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana earlier that day.  I had hand surgery on my entire left hand.  I remember when I was playing basketball with some friends and suddenly I got faked out by one of my friends on the basketball court at Edison Elementary School in Dayton, Ohio.  I was not able to play basketball for almost two years.  I had to go through Physical and Occupational Therapy for two years.  Afterwards, I started having seizures in public.  I have had seizures more than several times during a three year period.
Further, whenever I think of this Bible verse, it reminds me of Jesus Christ walking on the water, and the Disciples thought He was a ghost.  Jesus Christ said to them be of good cheer, it is I do not be afraid.  That is in Matthew 14:27.  This is the truth about the disciples on the boat and Peter asked Him can he walk on the water with Him, He said Come! This reminded me of all of my fair weather friends who used to use and abuse me in the process.  It has taken me a long time, but I forgave everyone who had used me and abused me physically and mentally.
Moreover, I consider myself a very good person for forgiving all of my accusers.  There are people who are still angry with me over their foolish deeds that were done by them to me.  I am very happy that God has spared my life right now.  I am very happy for being among the living right now.  My life up to this point is based on my ups and downs behaviorally for the past 28 years now.  Although I was seeking help for my behavior issues.  I have been through a lot of adversity during the past 14 years now.
Finally, I am better right now.  I do not argue with anyone else anymore.  I pray and read the Bible every day of the week.  I have to admit that I am suffering from Alzheimer's and Schizophrenia right now.  I also suffer from Type 2 Diabetes Full Blown.  I have a lot of pills to take each day of the week for a long number of ailments physically and mentally.  The Lord God has been right by my side.  I am losing my memory right now.  I love all of you for your friendship, prayers, and support.  I am trying to complete my fourth book.  Authorhouse Publications in Bloomington Indiana is my Publishers.  Thank you for keeping me and my family members in your prayers and thoughts.  Lord Jesus, please teach me how to cope with my mental illness called Schizoid Affective Disorder and Schizophrenia.  Thank all of you understanding my situation and praying for me and my family members.  Thank you for reading my essay.

All Grown Up: "ALN" Story (Pre-Serum Omega!Steve and Alpha!Bucky Modern Domestic AU [[REUPLOAD]])
Six:
"C'MON EAGLES!" Bucky cheered from the bleachers. Loudly clapping his hands and encouraging, "YOU'VE GOT THIS!"
Cuddling up to his mate and pulling his winter jacket tighter around his petite frame, Steve watched as the omega varsity team ran the ball across the field. More specifically, Nevie run the ball. She was the youngest one on the team, and undoubtedly one of the best players.
"GO NEVIE!" Steve encouraged.
Passing the ball to her teammate, Nevie stayed parallel with the boy. As he passed it back to her, she was able to score a goal. Of course, that only made the Barneses on the sidelines to get even louder.
Sitting on Steve's other side, Oliver joined the family. Since his last physical therapy session ran over, he asked, "What'd I miss?"
"Nevie made a goal," Rhodey answered, taking Ollie's hand in his.
"Hell yeah!" Oliver cheered. "GO NEVIE!"
As the team went back to their side of the field, Nevie glanced over at the bleachers and waved at her family. Her focus didn't remain on them though as she got ready for the next kickoff. Just taking a moment to catch her breath.
Meanwhile, on the sidelines, Cori – and the rest of the cheerleaders – continued with their encouragement. Perfect smiles, shaking of pom poms, and herkies a plenty.
"E-D-I –" the girls clapped, and Bucky joined the cheerleaders from the bleachers "– S-O-N! –" double clap "– Edison Eagles, soaring again!"
Using her prior gymnastics training, Cori did a series of back handsprings from one end of the field to the other. Playfully, Bitsy said, "Show off," just loud enough for their family to hear.
Kit chuckled and pulled her under their arm. Joking, "Now you know how it feels when you dance."
Bitsy didn't argue, she knew that it was true. Instead, she childishly stuck her tongue out at her older sibling. Kit didn't mind though, they just put the younger teen into a playful chokehold and ruffled her hair.
"Stop," Bitsy complained through her giggles.
"Nope," Kit chuckled.
"Dad," Bitsy called out, "Pops! Make 'em stop!"
"Shh," Bucky joked, "I'm watching the game."
Steve shook his head. Before he could tell Kit to let go of their sister, the older teen did. Teasingly narrowing his eyes, Steve pointed his finger at Kit, letting the teen know to behave. All Kit could do at that was laugh.
Redirecting his gaze back to the game, Steve watched as Nevie passed the ball to her teammate. As the boy teammate made a goal, Steve could only focus on his daughter and how she harshly punched a player on the other team.
The whistle was blown while the referee and the coaches quickly crossed the field to split the two omegas up. Steve and Bucky stayed on the bleachers, but stood from their seats. Some people cheered, entertained by the fight while other people told them to, "get that girl out of here!"
All the while, Steve was worried. It had to be really bad to cause Nevie to snap. Not only was she physically the smallest of all their kids, but she was also the quietest. Even more so than Finn. And since she hit the boy so hard that his head whipped back while his nose gushed blood? Well, that only led Steve to believe that the boy deserved whatever he got, if not more.
From the bleachers, Steve could already feel his own anger building. But he stayed where he was. Just long enough to watch Nevie be led off the field and over to the bench. Then, he and Bucky were making their way down to the sidelines.
The rest of the Barneses stayed where they were on the bleachers, but both men knew that their kids were equally as shocked by their sister's violent action. Before they got to her, Cori was marking Nevie's shoulders while the coach talked to the young omega.
"You can't act like that, Barnes," Coach Rae sternly told her. Reprimanding, "You're benched for the rest of the game."
"But Coach –"
Coach Rae shook her head and said, "No, 'buts.' If you didn't want to sit it out, you shouldn't have thrown the punch."
"I-I, but I –"
"She's right, Nev," Bucky sided with the adult omega, making himself known to his daughters.
Nevie looked up at them with sky-blue eyes glassy with unshed tears. Knowing that no matter what she said wouldn't let her play in the last game of the season, she stopped trying. Accepting the ruling and slumping in her seat on the bench.
Steve leaned closer to her and softly asked, "Do you wanna go home early?"
Nevie looked out at the field and shook her head. "They're my team. Whether I play or not, I need to be here for them."
Nodding, Steve kissed the top of her head and marked her shoulder. Bucky did the same and wrapped his arm around Cori's shoulders. Telling the blonde, "Be there for your sister, yeah?"
"Duh," Cori teased before shoving him away so she could get back into formation with the other cheerleaders. Effortlessly falling into step with the rest of the varsity squad as they started their next chant.
"HEY! HEY YOU! YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO! YOU GOTTA BOP WITH THE BLUE AND JAM WITH THE WHITE!"
Just like the previous cheer, Bucky yelled along. Steve shook his head, but couldn't help but smile. Especially when he mimicked the arm movements that accompanied the chant.
Once they returned to their seats, Oliver asked, "What the hell was that all about?"
"Don't know," Bucky admitted while Steve added, "I'm sure she'll explain it later."
Luckily for them, the game was over no more than twenty minutes later. With the Edison Eagles being the victors, the home team celebrated. Jumping around and hugging each other, glad that they had ended the school year with the highest of wins in years! Some of the stronger teammates even lifted Nevie onto their shoulders.
Steve liked to think that the team had been so successful was because of his talented children. After all, Ollie had been one of the best players through all of his years on the high school omega varsity team. And when he graduated, the team had trouble reaching those wins, all before Nevie came along and proved herself to be just as talented as – if not more so than – Ollie. When he thought about it, it was difficult for Steve not to preen.
Grabbing her duffle bag, Nevie joined Cori. Keeping her eyes downward as the rest of the family met up with them. She knew that they'd have a talk later, but her scent was still sour. Bucky wrapped his flesh arm tightly around her shoulders, pulling her close so she could scent him and see that he wasn't angry.
This wasn't the first time that one of the kids had gotten into a fight. Nevie knew that. But this was the first time that Nevie had gotten into a fight. A fight that left her alabaster knuckles red and already starting to turn bluish-purple from the impact of bone hitting bone.
"You guys comin' over for movie night?" Bucky asked Oliver and Rhodey even though he already knew the answer.
"Duh," Ollie grinned, fingers lacing his hand with his fiancé's while he swung their hands as they walked through the parking lot. "We'll meet you there!"
At that, Nevie started to follow her brother and future in-law, but Steve was quick to pull her back. Telling her, "Oh, no you don't. We've got a lot to talk about missy, and it's not gonna be half as meaningful if you aren't there."
Feigning a whisper, Oliver half-joked, "Just agree with everything they say!"
"Sucks to be you," Kit laughed, splitting off from the family to head over to their own vehicle. Turning back, they said, "I'm gonna pick up some snacks. Anyone want anything?"
"I'll text you," Steve said while Bitsy quickly crossed the parking lot to join her older sibling.
As Bucky, Steve, and the remaining two kids climbed into the minivan, it was silent. Silent when they pulled out of the parking lot. Silent when they drove down the street. Silent all the way to their house.

✋ - A hand carding gently through their hair for Leo :)
A response to this ask thing.
Takes place like ~2 months into Luke's contract.
TW: Legalized Slavery Setting, general pain and sadness.
“I know you’re hurting,” Luke whispers, knelt beside a visibly shaking Leo. He is curled on the floor next to the bed, his arm covering his head. It’s a trauma response, and if Luke’s heart wasn’t already shattered from the day, this would have done the job. His hand hovers over Leo’s cheek, the only part of his face that is visible, but he is reluctant to make contact there. Leo’s eyes close slowly, as silent tears trail along his jaw, puddling onto the wood beneath him. “I know, buddy.”
Luke sets the two small pills on the nightstand, and then softly pulls Leo’s arm away from his head. Leo offers no resistance.
“You can bring him in on your own, Senator, we’ll take him for a few hours, we’ll have him home by dinner. Hell, you can even stay with him if it makes you feel better,” Edison said, as Luke paced in the kitchen, his phone clutched tightly in his palm. “Or I can get a court order, and we’ll keep him here for a week. We’ll provide you with a substitute during that time.” There was a pause, and then for extra punch, he added, “We can even do some light retraining if we find it’s needed.” After spending the last three days reading and re-reading and re-reading the contract, Luke knew it was not a bluff; they would forcibly remove Leo if they needed to.
Luke isn’t sure how often Leo winds up on the floor, but this isn’t the time to bring it up. Instead, he sits down next to him; he’s shivering. Luke pulls the comforter off of the bed, gently draping it over his shoulders.
“Can I… can I go lay down? For a… for a couple minutes, p… please,” Leo asked, his voice shaky and his eyes red and his shoulders tense. He barely waited for Luke’s pained nod before he hurried to his room, leaving the door characteristically ajar.
Luke set the bag from the pharmacy on the table, then filled a cup with cold water, dampened a washcloth, and took two pills out of one of the bottles. This was always the hardest part. Of all that he’d learned about Leo, his distrust of medicine was one of the things that came up most frequently. Paired with a very questionable medical history, this was a near constant issue in some form or another.
“Lift your head up,” he whispers now, rearranging himself underneath it. Leo is desperate for physical attention, he craves it, and he doesn’t access it nearly as often as he wants it. It’s one thing that Luke cannot, no matter how many therapy sessions he spends trying, come to grips with how to handle. He knows by now that there are deep-running issues of consent, and of power, and of conditioning at play. But he also will not idly allow Leo to suffer through his contract, through his life. So he’s done his best to categorize ok touch and not ok touch, and it’s honestly all a fucking mess. This isn’t the time to dwell on it.
Leo’s head sinks onto his lap, and he grips tightly into Luke’s jeans. Luke lets his fingers press into the soft black hair, offering a little bit of pressure as he cards his fingers through it, down to Leo’s neck. Tears are still spilling silently from Leo’s eyes, and Luke repeats the action. Back to the top, down to the neck. With his free hand, he sweeps the cloth over Leo’s face, wiping the tears and cooling him down. He lets it linger on his forehead, while he gives a little more pressure at Leo’s scalp.
“It’s alright,” he whispers. “It’s over.” It’s probably a lie, he realizes, as he reaches for the pills on the nightstand. “I want you to take these.” He tries to very strictly limit how often he explicitly directs Leo, and it’s become almost universally linked to taking medicine. He hands him the pills and Leo hesitates, just for a moment, before closing his eyes and swallowing them dry. Luke notices the tears intensify, and mumbles a soft, “Good,” which tugs at his gut uncomfortably. Leo’s body immediately reacts, curling up a little tighter as a tense breath is released. He’s tried to describe it before, he tells Luke that it’s palpable, that sometimes when he hears it, it’s like he can breathe a little easier. Luke is careful not to think too deeply about a lot of things, and that one is always at the top of his list. He keeps his attention on Leo’s head, running his fingers down his scalp.
Leo’s eyes close, and Luke watches the tremors that roll through him, the pattern of gripping his pants tighter and then slowly loosening, over and over, until eventually, the remaining tension dissipates from his body, and Luke knows he’s asleep.
He keeps going, but lifts the blanket and peeks under his shirt to make sure his bandages look okay. Leo doesn’t stir, or move, or do anything. Only when he’s sure that Leo is completely, totally asleep, does he let his own eyes slip shut, a few unexpected tears sliding down his cheeks. He ignores them, he breathes deeply, and he makes sure that none of the images from the day creep into his thoughts. Even as he drifts to sleep, his fingers stay tangled in Leo’s hair.

At Y/N’s request, Bucky agreed that they’d go to the bar together slightly earlier than the time they gave Wanda and Sam. She wanted time to prepare.
Bucky had already met Wanda once, albeit not under the best circumstances. And the friend had already expressed her support of the relationship to Y/N countless times over, with a particular favouring of his “fine ass” as Wanda called it. No, Y/N’s nervousness stemmed from meeting Sam. She knew Bucky had explained the situation from the beginning and was anticipating judgement of being that girl. Damaged goods with a cube van full of past relationship baggage.
They sat at their table in the stereotypical hipster microbrewery: white walls, concrete floors, varnished wooden tables and counters, exposed wood beams. Bucky had his arm around Y/N as he attempted to soothe her anxieties under the glow of the Edison bulbs.
“Sam’s going to love you. In fact I think he already does. He told me last week he’s never seen me this happy,” he encouraged, pressing a kiss into her temple.
Y/N couldn’t help but smile at the admission. “So you’re happy? With me?” she asked bashfully, looking at Bucky from the side of her eyes as she found his other hand and placed it on her thigh.
“Yeah, I really am,” he said with a confidence he’d never felt. Not until he’d met Y/N.
It had been nearly six months since their eyes had met for the first time in the waiting area of the centre. Y/N, the girl that made his heart beat faster. That made him fumble over his words. That made him want to keep going to therapy so he could be stronger for her. That made him wake up early every day just so he could send a good morning message before she’d awake because he wanted her to start her day knowing she was the first thing he thought about.
He pulled her closer and placed a soft peck to her cheek. Not fully satisfied, she turned her head to find his lips. All of her nerves dissipated as their mouths connected like two pieces of a puzzle. Just as she began running her tongue along his teeth, they heard someone clear their throat.
“I know you two are still in the honeymoon stage, but I was sort of hoping to actually get to know Y/N tonight,” Sam teased as he took a seat across from the couple.
“Oh my god,” Y/N muttered under her breath, all of her nervousness flooding back and setting her face ablaze.
Sam laughed as Bucky and Y/N untangled themselves from each other.
“Sam, this is Y/N. Y/N this is Sam,” Bucky gestured between the two of them, rolling his eyes at his friend.
“Sorry, I’m just messing with you two,” Sam said, noticing her discomfort. He extended his hand across the table, “I’m so glad to finally meet the person who’s put a perma-smile on my best friend’s face.”
Y/N shook his hand, relaxing a bit at Sam’s genuine introduction. “I’m really happy to meet you too,” she smiled shyly. “He’s told me a lot about you.”
Just then Y/N saw Wanda enter the bar from behind Sam and waved the grinning redhead over. That grin morphed into shock when she arrived at the table.
“No fucking way! Sammy? Bucky was your buddy?” Wanda yelled.
“Shit, Y/N is your friend…” The gears started turning, only taking him a few seconds for the realization to hit. “That means… shit, that’s why you texted me way back.” The realization slipped out before he registered he’d said it aloud.
“What the fuck is going on, Wanda?” Y/N asked, heart pounding, breath quickening as she heard the man she just met refer to the very past that had birthed her fears about this night.
“Y/N, this is my friend Sam. The one that works at the V.A. that I text for resources. Hun, I’m so sorry, I had no idea.”
“Wait, you two know each other?” Bucky looked at Sam, his brow furrowing in confusion.
“Yeah, Wanda is one of the few friends from highschool I kept in touch with. A while back she reached out asking for some recommendations on where to go for domestic abuse issues. I gave her the link to your organization, and didn’t press further. I never said anything to you because she didn’t give me any details and, well confidentiality obviously. I didn’t want to jeopardize anything on the off chance you ended up on the case… Man, I never put two and two together.”
Wanda took the remaining seat next to Sam, across from her friend who was looking more and more panicked as the conversation continued.
“Y/N, hun, just breathe. Everyone here is on your team. We’re all here for you. No one is judging you, and we’re not going to talk about this anymore. Right, boys?”
“As usual, she’s 100% right. Really sorry for putting you on the spot, Y/N.” Sam attempted to gather every inch of softness and comfort he could muster, putting it all into the apologetic look he offered to the woman he’d just met and humiliated.
“Sweetheart, Wanda is completely right. We’re all just here to meet and hang out and you have absolutely nothing to worry about.” Bucky raised his and Y/N’s clasped hands from where they’d been resting on her thigh and pressed his lips into her knuckles.
Sighing deeply, Y/N closed her eyes to compose herself. She opened them and smiled genuinely, deciding to embrace her dirty laundry being aired out on a Saturday night in a dimly lit bar.
“Well, I was definitely going to wait to pull the abusive ex-boyfriend suitcase out for show and tell until at least the third or fourth hangout. But I guess it’s better that it’s out of the way now.”
Everyone laughed, the tension alleviated by Y/N’s quick wit.
The four fell into easy conversation after that. At first it was mostly Sam and Wanda bonding over how hilarious it had been to watch the two stumble over their feelings for one another during the first months. Their venting shifted into stories of their respective friends, recounting comedic events that only slightly embarrassed the couple. Mostly, both Bucky and Y/N reveled in learning more about each other as their fingers were intertwined under the table, Bucky’s thumb rubbing the back of Y/N’s hand affectionately.
After a pause in the conversation, the four agreed it was time for another round of drinks. Y/N announced she had to use the washroom and excused herself. Her cheeks were warm and ached from laughing as she walked through the bar and into the hallway towards the ladies room at the very end.
She grinned at herself in the mirror as she washed her hands, her stomach fluttering with an eagerness to return to the group. To Bucky. The night was going so much better than she had anticipated. Stepping out of the washroom she turned into the dark hall towards the loud hum of Saturday night. The wind was suddenly knocked out of her as her back slammed into the wall, a forearm pressing against her chest holding her down as the elbow dug into her bicep. A rough hand completely covered her mouth and another clenched the wrist of her other arm.
“You lying whore, you were fucking him. I fucking knew it,” Brock seethed as he pressed himself into Y/N. “Don’t you dare fucking make a sound. You’re going to hear what I have to say, you little bitch. You’re going to pay for what you and your War Amp boytoy did to me. Do you know the firm fucking fired me? I lost my goddamn career because of you, because that fucking dickwad can’t take a little jab to the chin…”
Brock continued to rage while Y/N’s body refused to move. Muscle memory from three years of conditioning. All the blood drained from her face. Her ears buzzed. She couldn’t shift her eyes away from the blazing dark pools that bore into her as he spewed his hate and beer-soaked breath over her face.
It was as if time simultaneously sped up and stood still. Like a fever dream where everything felt too big and Y/N was trying to scream but no sound came out, her body cursed by slow motion movement while everything else sped around her. She prayed that someone, anyone would come down the hall. Doesn’t someone need to fucking pee?! But no one came and Brock started pressing his whole body onto her.
***
The waitress had brought the four pints to the table minutes ago and Y/N was still not back from the washroom.
“I’m going to go relieve myself. And make sure Y/N hasn’t fallen in,” Bucky announced, trying to hide his concern.
She’d been gone for nearly ten minutes and he was starting to worry. Maybe she had gotten overwhelmed by all of the stories. She had been so nervous about the evening. Sam and Wanda were deep in reminiscing about their high school escapades and only nodded as they continued their trip down memory lane together.
As soon as Bucky turned down the hall his police training kicked into gear. Without a word or even a breath, Bucky sprinted to the end of the dark corridor. He grabbed Brock by the collar and yanked him off of Y/N towards the direction of the bar. Then turning on the balls of his feet, Bucky’s fist connected with Brock’s cheek so hard the hefty man was knocked onto the concrete floor, sliding towards the opening of the hall. The bar’s bouncer appeared an instant later as Bucky turned back to console Y/N.
“Are you hurt? Did he hurt you? Fuck sweetheart, I’m so sorry I wasn’t here. Fuck, I’m so sorry. Can I hug y—” but Y/N was already burrowing herself into his chest, trying to hide in his protective hold as he responded by wrapping his arms around her. Her entire body trembled. He rubbed comforting circles on Y/N’s back while she sobbed uncontrollably. Still in action mode, Bucky quickly explained to the bouncer the restraining order against Brock and how Bucky had found him holding Y/N against the wall on his way to the men’s room.
“Well, thanks for doing my job, man,” the bouncer nodded in appreciation, quickly understanding the situation. “I’ll hold onto him while we wait for the cops. I’ll make the call. You want some privacy, you can take this room here,” he said as he punched a code on the pad next to the handle. It opened into what looked like a staff room. Then the beefy security turned around, lifted Brock off the ground with one arm, and dragged him into another code-protected room.
“He’s gone now. It’s over, sweetheart. You’re safe. I’ve got you.” Bucky cooed into Y/N’s hair as the heavy door clicked behind them. With his arms holding her tight again, he pressed his lips to the top of her head. “I’m going to call Sam and Wanda and get them to come meet us in here, ok?” Bucky only felt the shaking of Y/N’s shoulders as she continued to bawl into his chest.
“Oh my god, what the fuck happened?” Wanda asked as soon as the two friends entered the room. She placed a hand on Y/N’s back, searching Bucky’s face for answers.
He explained the scene he’d found and how they were now waiting for the police to arrive. He added that it was necessary because of the restraining order—he had felt Y/N tense when the police were mentioned.
“Jesus fucking christ, I wish I’d been there with you,” Sam teemed, grindind a fist into the palm of hand.
“Bucky got him pretty good,” Y/N piped up quietly, sniffling as she finally pulled away from his comforting hold.
“Fucking right I did,” he said stoicly, trying to maintain a calm demeanor for Y/N but boiling on the inside.
Wanda pulled her friend into her arms, now that she was out of Bucky’s arms. “I’m so sorry I wasn’t there, hun.”
“It wasn’t your fault. It wasn’t any of your faults. Please. I’m sorry for ruining the night.”
Wanda pushed her friend out of the hug and placed her hands on her shoulders.
“Don’t you dare try and blame yourself for the actions of that fucking asshole. He deserves to be in jail as far as I’m concerned. I know, I know, you don’t want to go through that. But fuck, Y/N, none of this is your fault. You hear me? None of it.” Wanda pulled her friend back into her arms.
“She’s right, again,” Bucky agreed. “This isn’t even remotely close to being your fault. Please don’t let your thoughts go there.”
“Guys like that can’t help themselves,” Sam chimed in. “I’ve seen my share of anger management issues at the V.A.. This is not on you, Y/N. Not even a little bit. If it makes you feel any better, I’ve had one of the best nights out in a while and this in no way ruins that for me.”
Y/N sniffled in her friend's embrace, then pulled away to wipe her face and take Bucky’s hand again. “Thanks. All of you. I’m s—” she stopped herself from apologizing and sighed before continuing. “I appreciate you being here for me.”
“Always,” Wanda said and the two men hummed in agreement.
Tumblr media
The police had arrived shortly after. With some pressure from Bucky, they allowed Y/N to make her statement with all of them there as support. He knew how officers can twist these types of situations. Then they took Bucky’s statement before leaving the staff room to find the bouncer and Brock. After interviewing the two men and calling into the precinct to get background on Y/N’s file, the officers returned to the group to let them know they were free to go. They were clearly turning a blind eye to Bucky’s assault of Brock, likely as a result of the damning statement Y/N had given detailing their relationship when filing for the restraining order.
Y/N had asked if she could stay with Bucky for the night when he’d started ordering a Lyft to take her home. She didn’t want to be alone. Sam had offered Wanda a ride home. The four said their goodbyes outside of the bar, wrapping Y/N in a group hug as she had been incapable of letting go of Bucky once the police had showed up. The Lyft appeared and they parted ways.
“Oh my god, Bucky your hand!” Y/N exclaimed when he handed her a glass of water after they returned to his apartment. She’d been so caught up in the aftermath she hadn’t noticed his swollen knuckles on his flesh hand that were already turning purple.
“Do you have an ice pack?” She asked, placing the water on the coffee table before frantically getting up from the couch and b-lining towards the freezer.
“Yeah, should be in the door,” he said sheepishly as he took a seat on the sofa.
“Here. Christ, I’m so sorry about all of this,” she groaned, handing him the cold pack before slumping down next to him.
“Nope. Nuh uh. What did we say about apologizing for things that aren’t your fault?” he asked sweetly. Y/N rolled her eyes and exhaled forcefully through her nose.
“Fine. But I’m still sorry. Not in a it’s-my-fault way, but in a I-have-compassion-for-your-injured-hand way.” She said, flashing him a sympathetic smile.
Then she got a quizzical look in her eye, “Why didn't you use the metal arm?”
“Well, I don't always think of it immediately. I'm right-handed,” he chuckled, adjusting the ice pack over the back of his hand.
“Makes sense,” she murmured, leaning her head onto his shoulder. She was completely drained, no longer able to process the anxious thoughts that tried to seep into her psyche. She could deal with those tomorrow. For now all she wanted was to curl up in Bucky’s bed, his arms wrapped around her, and Alpine at their feet.
Seemingly able to read her mind, Bucky turned to Y/N—still resting on him—and pressed a kiss into the side of her forehead. “Let’s go to bed,” he whispered. She nodded and forced herself to get up, then helped him do the same when he reached out his metal hand. The two worked through their respective bedtime routines within minutes, both eager to be in each other’s arms.
Y/N’s back was pressed against Bucky’s chest, his prosthetic draped around her waist, his hand clasped in hers. “Sweet dreams, sweetheart. Wake me up if you need anything, ok?” Y/N hummed in response, the pull of sleep already sending her adrift. He kissed the back of her head and then closed his eyes to join her.
Tumblr media
Daylight was barely breaking when Y/N roused. As consciousness came, it brought the full weight of the previous night's events crashing down on her. The brain was a muscle, and Y/N’s had been easily reminded of the three years Brock had invested in her emotional conditioning. Her thoughts spiraled and she unraveled as Bucky slept peacefully next to her.
This is too much. Too much drama. There’s no way he signed up for this. He’s just taking care of me because he’s a social worker and that’s what he does. He doesn’t know how to tell me this is too much. Fuck, this is too much. I don’t deserve him. I don’t deserve this. It’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have filed for the restraining order. None of this would have happened if I’d just kept to myself. If I’d just walked away and let it all go. I should never have gotten Bucky involved in this. He doesn’t deserve this. He deserves better. Fuck, I’m such an idiot. How could I do this to him. He’s so sweet and I’m just a fucking mess. Fuck.
With the stealth of a wild feline, Y/N maneuvered her body away from Bucky and out of the bed. He stirred slightly when Alpine lazily sauntered up to take Y/N’s warmed spot next to her owner, but the man remained asleep. Y/N let out a silent sigh of relief as she gathered her clothes and left the bedroom. She got dressed in the living room as tears streaked her cheeks. Then grabbing a scrap piece of paper, she left the note on the counter before she exited the apartment.
When Bucky awoke to Alpine instead of Y/N curled up against him, a flutter of panic spread through his chest. He quelled it quickly with a few long breaths, assuring himself she was just on the couch with coffee already made. Pulling on a sweatshirt and pajama bottoms, he exited the bedroom to an empty apartment. Dread returned, this time in a wave that threatened to replace all of the air in his lungs with a suffocating void as he read her note on the counter.
You shouldn’t have to deal with this. You deserve better.
Thank you for everything.
I’m sorry.

the 1994 battle of the performers masterlist
Prologue
Tumblr media
“Look what I found on the bulletin board!”
Alex looked around his locker, Luke's smiling face next to a piece of paper held tightly in his grip. He closed his locker and pulled the paper out of Luke’s hands, reading over the word.
Battle of the Performers
December 12th, 1994
The Charles Theatre
“What’s this?”
“This, my friend, is our first live gig,” Luke tapped the top of the page.
“A gig?”
Alex and Luke looked up once they heard Reggie’s voice sound from beside them.
“Yep, it's local but it’s something.”
Luke was over the moon about the plan, I mean come on a gig, that’s all that matters, to say the least.
“Perfect timing, my vintage leather jacket just came in,” Reggie nodded his head, just as happy about the news of the gig.
“Hey,” Bobby came up behind Alex, giving him a small pat on the shoulder and waving at the other guys. He looked over Alex's shoulder, reading over the words just as Alex did seconds ago.
“Are we gonna enter?”
“Yes,” Luke was fast to answer, bouncing on his toes at the idea of finally sharing their music with the world. Alex was about to open his mouth to say something about the paper but the sound of the hall going quite caught his attention.
(Y/N) (L/N) held her bag close to her shoulder, smiling at a few people that passed. The once confident girl seemed out of her element as she made her way to her locker.
“I didn’t know she was out of physical therapy yet?” Bobby muttered quietly to the rest of the group. Their eyes trained on the girl as she smiled when others did and accept the sad apologies.
“Did you hear they kicked her from the dance team?” Reggie spoke, overhearing the conversation from his history class yesterday.
Each boy in Sunset Curve felt horrible for the dancer, after the incident with her ACL and her long recovery. They all had just as much of a dream as she did and they’d be wrecked if they lost it all.
As the girl made it closer to the group Luke adjusted himself in front of her, giving a sympathetic smile.
“Hey (Y/N),” his voice was soft, looking around the halls at all the people that watched the two. A quick glare and half the heads in the hall were back to their original conversation.
“Patterson?”
“Just wanted to apologize, you know-”
“It’s fine, wasn’t anyone's fault,” his heart was ripping out as the girl passed him and moved around him. Her head hung low and broken and she opened her locker and rummaged through it. Luke said nothing, moving back with his little group as his eyes watched her a little longer before turning back.
“So the gig?”
“We can’t enter,” Alex closed his own locker, moving the paper for Luke’s eyes. He pointed to the requirements that were printed at the bottom of the page.
MUST HAVE A DANCE NUMBER WITH LIVE PERFORMANCE
“What,” Luke ripped the paper, holding it between his fingers as he read over the words while Bobby helped guide him throughout the halls.
“They can’t do this!”
“They can, it’s their battle,” Alex commented, giving his friend a sympathetic smile. He could tell how excited he was about the idea of a gig, just for it to be ruined by their underprepared band.
Luke sighed, waving Reggie and Bobby bye and they made their way to English and Luke and Alex had Gym.
“This is trash,” Luke pouted as he made his way into the locker room, Alex luckily paying attention to the both of them and held Luke’s gym bag in his hand.
“We’ll find a different gig,” Alex clapped his friends on the shoulder, finding a stall and quickly dipping in before someone else found it. Luke didn’t care enough in the moment to find his own, easily taking off his “school approved” shirt his mother made him wear into his muscle tee.
“Yeah, but this one would’ve shown all of our parents, mine and yours, maybe even Reggie’s,” Luke’s shoulders dropped at that fact. He just wanted Reggie's parents to stop fighting all the time, Alex’s parents get over their old age ways, and his own parents to just understand it’s going to work.
Alex frowned at the thought, knowing everyone had their own reason past the love for music and why they needed a gig.
“She’ll never make it back on the dance team, they’ll have to have try-outs,” a group of “shit-heads” as Bobby would call them came into the locker room. Alex and Luke knew they were talking about (Y/N), which pissed them off and how funny they found the poor girl's pain.
But something else was rattling in Luke’s brain.
Try-outs.
“Alex,” Luke’s infectious smile was back as he grabbed the top of the stall Alex was in, pushing himself up and holding himself there as he watched his friend with a goofy laugh.Alex fell backwards, looking up at Luke with his gym shorts barely on all the way.
“We hold try-outs for the dancers, get our own dance team.”
Alex shook his head, standing back up and pulling the pants up all the way while looking up at his friend.
“We don’t know anything about dance, plus who would try-out for our band,” Alex opened the door of the stall, Luke still keeping his grip and the door swung back.
“The dance team is super picky, anyone not on it will take any opportunity they can get,” Luke jumped down, finally moving to his bag to change into his own gym shorts.
“I don’t know Luke.”
It wasn’t the wrose plan, Alex could agree on that but realistically it would be hard and while they did have time with it being September and all it wasn’t going to be easy to make the whole thing come to life.
Sunset Curve’s music at the moment was good for head bumping but a serious dance routine would take some work from everyone.
“Let’s ask Reggie and Bobby before we decide?”
Alex watched Luke bite his lip and give his best puppy dog eyes.
“I can work with that.”
Tumblr media
“I dig it,” Reggie gave a goofy smile and bit into the apple that he was just attempting to juggle seconds ago. Luke jumped in his seat, smiling widely as 1/2 of the group had said they liked the idea.
“What inspired this idea?” Bobby asked, shrugging as he stole a chip from Alex bag, which caused Alex to roll his eyes.
Luke simply turned around, doing his best to hide the fact he was watching (Y/N) as she looked to be in a heated discussion with the dance team captain, Megan Ray, who looked broken about the discussion but standing her ground.
“Someone mentioned they’d have to replace her with try-outs in the locker room,” Luke muttered, watching as the girl jabbed her finger into the table. most likely trying to make her way back on the team.
“I feel so bad for her,” Bobby muttered, trying to imagine a world where he couldn’t rock out with his friends because of a freak accident.
“Me too, she’s really smart too. Basically saved me in Chemistry last year,” Reggie looked away from the girl, someone he’d considered a good person hurting so bad for something no one could fix.
Once the girl stood up from the chair, trying her best not to draw too many eyes, was when Luke went back to the plan.
“It’ll work like a dream,” Luke muttered, already pulling a piece of paper out with his chick scratch and a sad worked out calendar.
“How do you read that?”
Luke stood up and smacked Alex with the paper, easily going back to the plan.
“I talked to Coach Edison and he said the Gym is free this Friday, plenty of time to get the word out,” Luke smiled at the easily done, but still done, the research he had done.
“What will we make them dance to?”
“Now or Never,” Luke spoke with a shrug.
“Sounds well thought out,” Reggie spoke absentmindedly, trying to remember a thought he just had but lost.
“Come on, we gotta show everyone who doubts us we mean something.”
Luke didn’t know if it was that sentence that struck a chord with them but they all seemed to slowly feed into Luke’s words more after that.
“Peter?”
Reggie turned at the call of his last name, smiling once he saw (Y/N) standing behind him at the table.
“(Y/N)!”
Reggie's smile was contagious as he smiled up at the girl, doing his best to avoid talking about the leg injury, he knew if something happened to his finger and he couldn’t play bass again he wouldn’t want to talk about it.
“Do you have the notes of Henderson’s class? He’s making me take all the quizzes I missed this Friday after school,” she muttered, nodding her head to the other boys as they watched her.
“That sucks, I can give them to you last period.” She gave a quick smile as a thank you, smiling to the other boys before heading back to the table she sat at before with a few other girls they had seen her around the halls with.
“Can’t believe Henderson would be that harsh,” Bobby shivered as if scared at the thought of taking that many quizzes in one sitting.
“He hates anyone who doesn’t do classic field, probably blames her for the fall,” Reggie muttered, finally making it to the core of his apple.
“What! It wasn’t her fault,” Luke jumped in, trying his best to keep his voice down.
“We don’t think that, now chill,” Alex waved at the few girls that had looked their way at the outburst.
Once everything died down, Alex and Bobby both nodded to one another, then looking at Luke.
“This Friday it is.”
Tumblr media
“This is going horrible,” Reggie whispered to Luke at the girl before they tried to dramatically do a split but ending up awkwardly crawling on the floor.
“Thank you Sara, we’ll get back with you,” Luke spoke as soon as the music stopped, reaching over to press stop on the crappy camera they found deep in Bobby’s studios yesterday.
Luke’s finger slipped and he was too worked up to try and find the button so he simply left the camera one, waving as Sara skipped out from the gym.
“We’ll at least she didn’t puke,” Bobby muttered, still in shock and how easily the one boy had his entire lunch on the gym floor.
“That was a nice touch.”
Luke stood up, slowly walking around the table to stand in front of his other friends.
“This is going horribly! Where are the dancers in this place?”
“Probably on the dance team,” Alex spoke up, smiling sarcastically at Luke.
“How about we go to the vending machine,” Reggie jumped up, easily diffusing the tension from the room as the rest agreed a snack would be nice.
They all made their way from the room, all talking about the different dancers and who they thought might be best.
“Maddie was good, but she couldn’t choreograph an entire team,” Bobby waited as Reggie looked over the different options in the machine.
“I didn’t even think about that,” Luke sighed, slowly becoming more and more annoyed with this whole idea.
“Look-”
Alex was cut off when he heard the faint sound of guitar and drums echoing the halls of the old sad school.
“Does anyone else hear that?”
“What? Reggie’s head turning as he chose between M&M or Hershey's,” Luke felt back, laying on one of the tables in the cafeteria.
“Hey!”
Alex rolled his eyes, following the sound of the music, hearing his own beat and Luke’s voice sing from the gymnasium. He walked slowly, stopping at the double door, looking through the tempered glass at the figure in the room. He heard his friends run from the gym, meeting his side as they all looked in the gym at the same sight.
(Y/N) glided across the floor, her hands held on both sides of her head as she easily slid across the floor in her sweat pants. She moved from that to a split, easily jumping up from that and doing small little kicks to the beat of the music.
“Wow,” Luke watched as the girl threw her head back, eyes closed as she took in the music that the boys knew by heart at this point.
She clapped along with the music, looking as alive with the music as the boys did when they played. Once the beat dropped the girl attempted to spin out, catching her leg the wrong way sending her to the floor.
“Oh no,” Reggie and Alex didn’t waste any time before pushing the double doors open and running to the groaning girls side. Luke and Bobby were hot on their trail, sliding as they all huddled around her.
“Are- are you okay?”
She sat up slightly, holding her knee to her chest with her face showing obviously pain.
“I’m fine- Uhm, does anyone have water?”
Luke didn’t waste time reaching to the “judge” table and taking his own water from the table. He turned back and handed it to her, looking at her with panic in his eye.
“Thank you,” she let out a shaky breath, letting herself calm down while twisting the cap open.
“You really are an amazing dancer,” Bobby commented, thinking now the panic was gone would be a nice time to mention it.
“I was,” she spoke as she looked to her feet, watching her beat up tennis shoes with a clenched jaw.
“Uhm actually he means present tense,” Luke laughed, like the situation was funny. I mean he just watched her glide and smile all with her eyes closed.
She wasn’t even scared of being bad, she knew she was that good.
“Did you miss the fall?”
He knew the attitude wasn’t at him, he knew she had a right to be angry about her whole world changing.
“You were great before the fall,” Reggie spoke in a soft voice, hurt about watching her without permission.
“No, I was better before.” She looked up, taking in the room when her eyes stopped on the video camera that was flashing red light.
“Is that recording?”
Luke looked at the camera, jumping up and stopping the recording. He un- screwed in from the tripod and made his way over to her.
“Watch it,” he held out the video to her but she simply pushed it away.
“No thanks, just delete it,” Luke was shocked, to say the least. She could still dance, like really dance, and she was throwing it away.
“You’re just scared,” he challenged the girl, earning a harsh “Luke” from Alex, warning him not to touch that topic with a ten-foot pole.
“You’d be scared if you went through what I went through,” she spoke hurtfully, righting to say.
Luke thought everything over, he didn’t know much about the injury but that it was a torn muscle in the knee and that was the end of it. But something that tears can technically heal, he just didn’t know how that worked exactly, he hated science class.
“She has a point,” Bobby smiled at the girl, doing his best not to say the wrong thing.
“Well, face your fear!”
“Look what happened when I did,” she motioned for someone to help her up, Reggie giving his shoulder and helping her stand slightly. Her body was obviously still in shock and she was slowly taking his arm.
“We can help you! Join us on the Battle of the Performers,” Luke knew it might come off selfish, but he really wanted to help her fight her fears face first. It must suck not doing what you love, but she had a chance so why not take it?
“Do you know how hard that is to win?” She thought it was funny to say the least. The band was good, she wouldn’t be shocked if she heard them on the radio in a few years with some famous award, but people just as new and good to the scene would come from far and wide for a chance at this competition.
Plus, if they really wanted to win they’d find a dancer who wasn’t broken.
“You’ll find someone better,” she nodded to Reggie and let her leg finally work properly again, thankful she would add.
“Nobody we’ve seen is like you!” He was so close to her face, giving his puppy dog eyes like he would with the others, always getting what he wanted then.
“I’m sorry, but no. Have fun with the scouting.”
She nodded at each boy, slowly making herself excused from the now tender room as Luke felt his dreams walk away.
“She has a right to be scared,” Alex spoke, trying his best to see both sides.
“Yeah, but she needed to punch fear like she wanted to punch the dance team captain,” Luke pouted, looking at the girl who left without another look. He was hoping she’d come back like in those horrible 80′s rom-coms Alex watched so much, but she never came back.
He held the camera in his hand, looking at the tape that sat paused. Her face looked almost scared as she stepped in the gym.
“We’ll find someone Luke,” Bobby set a gentle hand on his friend's shoulder.
“Yeah, but we could have had her.”
so, should i make this a series??

#WifeMeUp 2
I’m here for the idiots lately I guess? lol a lot of my shit has been from Jask’s pov lately.
part 1 is here idk how long this will go for but i will defs have a part 3 this is my stress relief AU for the week
Warnings: fuckin cuteness thats what
__________
“Shut the fuck up!”
“I’m truly not sure I could if I wanted to.” Jaskier was beaming as he showed Essie his phone the next morning on their opening shift. He and Geralt, who was most definitely listed as Hot Brit in his phone, had been texting most of the day once they parted ways after class.
“Well show me a picture!” Essie was shocked that he had finally talked to one of his class-time-crushes, let alone flirted.
Jaskier blushed and scrolled through his phone, “He doesn’t post much, but…”
“But?”
They were interrupted by a car pulling up to Jaskier’s window. He rolled his eyes and plastered on his best customer service smile as he turned around, “Good Morning! What can I- Geralt! Hi!”
Geralt’s smile was too pretty for this early in the morning and Jaskier felt a physical ache in his chest as he leaned out the window.
“Morning.”
Essie nearly jumped on Jaskier’s back to stick her head out the window, “Geralt?! Hi! I’m Essie! I’ve heard a lot about you!”
Jaskier blushed and worried at his lip as Essie took Geralt’s order and disappeared back into the stand with a little teasing nudge, “What brings you out at this unholy hour?”
Geralt rested his elbow on the car window, “Work.”
Ah yes. He talks like he texts. This I can work with.
Jaskier shifted so he was only leaning on one elbow and ran his hand through his hair, “And what might that be?”
Geralt’s eyes followed his hand and he took a moment to respond, making Jaskier’s heart flutter, “I, ahm, well, this morning it’s just feeding horses and getting them turned out to pasture. But I give kids riding lessons and help train therapy horses.”
Jaskier’s mouth dropped open, before turning it into a smirk, “For all your badass posturing you sure have a soft streak,” he teased, very pleased with the blush it brought to Geralt’s cheeks, “Do you have a favorite? Horse, I mean.”
“Yes! Roach,” Geralt’s eyes seemed to brighten like the glow of an Edison bulb and Jaskier never wanted to look anywhere else, “she’s an ornery bitch. I think you’d like her.”
Jaskier’s laugh was interrupted by Essie trying to pass Geralt his coffee, but the other barista snatched it before she reached.
“Oh no. I saw you. No note passing.” Jaskier scolded Essie, picking the little folded paper out of the cup sleeve before handing Geralt his drink, “See you in class?”
He gave him a quizzical smile, “See you in class,” he agreed before driving off.
Essie was pouting when Jaskier turned on her, eyes wide and absolutely mortified, “What the fuck Ess?”
“I just wrote down your favorite restaurant. I was doing you a favor.”
Jaskier unfolded the paper to find that she had indeed wrote down the name of a cute little pizza place downtown. Except under that she had threatened Geralt’s balls if he hurt Jaskier.
“What by scaring him off?!” he probably couldn’t hit a higher note if he tried, “He trains therapy horses for children do not fuck around with this one!”
Essie shrugged, “Fine. But don’t be surprised when he takes you to some sub par burger joint with neon signs and too much chrome.”
