I'm currently developing a small indie point and click mystery game called the Beekeeper's Picnic, which features a retired Sherlock Holmes solving cosy mysteries. The game is set just after the First World War, and tackles themes of healing and reconciliation against a beautiful natural landscape.
You can find out more on Steam.
I'm doing all the writing, programming and artwork in the game myself, but I'm not a musician and so I'm on the hunt for someone who can help in that area!
I intend to keep the soundtrack fairly minimal, but I'd really love to be able to commission or licence a few pieces. I've been imagining fairly minimalist contemporary/new age piano - something with the same vibes as this piece by Giorgio Costantini:

But I'm also open to someone with their own ideas!
As an indie creator myself it's really important to me to ensure that I empower others by paying fairly for their work. I've run a handful of successful crowdfunding campaigns in the past and I'm looking to do that for this game, which is part of the reason I'm putting out feelers at this stage to see what's possible and so I can start doing some costings.
If you're interested my ask box is open! and I'd appreciate it if folks could pass this on to anyone who might be interested.
Hi everyone -- anyone who's still here on tumblr, I know I haven't posted in a while -- and welcome to, incredibly, the seventh year of #pianowrimo. One short piano piece for every day in November.
this one is cute! like a youtube video of dogs doing cute things.
Well, this is unfinished... I was going to have a go improvising some violin with it, but is is raining and the only room I can record stuff in is too loud when it rains, so this is just the start... composed a little piano bit to go with it today. Yeah... I actually "composed" this, LOLOLOLOL. How hilarious I am! Shame. I reckon I'd probably just improvise the violin... or, I don't know... the rain means today is over as I think my brain has had enough anyway now... but... yeah.
Should I carry on with it and add more? Or not bother?
It definitely needs more romance adding. The funny thing is, I had thought it should be Romantic… but then - I just love crunchy, verging on atonal chords… And people are like “that’s weird”… and I guess, it is. *I* am weird. Well, and obviously it is a disturbing & transgressive scene too! I hear the notes in my head & as they crunch in dissonance, I feel YES! I am ALIVE! Often I hear the notes in my head & I don’t know what they are so I have to sing the note in my head to learn what it is, hahahaha. But anyway, it’s very different to improvising where I just feel instead. Maybe improvised violin could add some romance???
Sometimes it's worth transposing something into a harder key just so you can accidentally play a chord wrong and realize you like THAT chord progression more than the original one, lol
using “Claustrophobic Piano” by Christian Henson over on pianobook. i haven’t gotten to write something to completion in a long time and this is just. refreshing.
It’s a piano instrumental song called ‘misty morning’ and it’s a part of the sound diary now!📔It gave me cheerful vibes that we need on cold misty mornings like these!🎹🌈🎶🐈💫
just found out i could enter a sonatina composition competition that would award me enough money to pay for a legal name change and THEN some. the only problem is that i fuckin hate sonatinas
