#Please forgive me if I mistagged you

You ever start reading a fic and halfway through realize the tags were incredibly misleading? Bc I was just reading an MCU fic tagged "Team Please-for-the-love-of-god-talk-to-each-other" or something similar, and I was like "oh so this is a middle-ground kinda fic. Usually I prefer straight-up Team Tony fics, but I can deal with this😊". So I happily started reading, but then it turned out that in the fic Tony "hadn't read" the Accords before the airport battle, and they had sneaked in clauses that dictated life imprisonment in the Raft for anyone who fit the superhero criteria and didn't sign them, locator cuffs for anyone who did sign them, and even experimentation on the mutants/superhumans???? People were blaming Tony for the whole ordeal left right and center, even Tony himself, and if they weren't blaming him they were insinuating he had to set aside his "pride" and apologize to Team Cap in order to "fix things". Then Tony had to practically beg Steve to forgive him for "not listening" in Siberia in order to get his help to rescue Peter, who was taken to the Raft and had also joined Team Cap's POV about the Accords. And in the middle of all that, as if that wasn't enough, someone actually tells Tony to get over the murder of his parents bc "thousands of others also have dead parents, big deal"??? That fic was blatantly anti-Tony and pro-Team Cap, to the point that I had to stop reading less than halfway through.

Like, I don't begrudge anyone who likes Team Cap fics, to each their own, but what part of that sounded like Team "They're All Equally At Fault"????? That was one of the most decidedly pro-Team Cap fics I've ever seen in my life. I'm BEGGING people to please for the love of god TAG TEAM CAP FICS AS SUCH, IT'S SUCH A BIG SQUICK FOR ME I HAD ACTUAL SHUDDERS I HATED IT NO NO NO STOP I CAN'T TAKE IT IT FELT LIKE VICTIM BLAMING IT'S TOO MUCH FOR ME

Sorry for the rant but I just- it hit me so hard, it made me feel awful for some reason, I had to tell someone who might understand

Oh oh wow yeah I fuckin hate when shit like that happens because at a certain point you're kind of like "not trying to be a bitch about it but I do feel like this mistagging was done at least semi on purpose??" and then you feel kind of paranoid and stupid about thinking it's that deep but you just can't help it???

But yeah I've run up on mistagged stuff like that before too and I hate it even if I understand how it can happen.

Can I vent..? I'm not sure how to do proper venting because I don't vent much so I'm really sorry! You don't have to read this honestly— just wanted to get it out of my chest.

I don't think this needs any TW's so I'm not putting any.. I'm sorry if this needed any TW's I didn't know if it did,

So.. what's been happening is whenever I try to read x Male Reader/Gender Neutral Reader fics on Tumblr I keep getting bombarded by mentions of she/her or the mentioning of the chest (boobs) and those things give me a lot and I mean alot of dysphoria.. so I check the tags, to which I find out that #female-reader and #fem!reader isn't there!

They don't even mention that the fic is going to be targeted for female readers and they don't have the tags so I could avoid them by filters.. Even worse! Tumblr keeps recommending me female reader related fics. I don't want to see those. I don't want to.. I try and ignore those fics but it keeps popping up constantly on my fyp.

And when I try searching afab reader, it's always with female pronouns.. not even one of them has GN or even Male pronouns. This doesn't only happen on Tumblr, it's the same everywhere.

This is a very silly thing to vent/complain about, I know, but it keeps bothering me, and it doesn't help that my family and everyone else in real life and heavily transphobic and homophobic. The continuous use of gendered words such as: girl, woman, lady and female and mentioning of my damn chest makes my dysphoria more frequent.

I'll never be called a boy in real life. I'll never be treated as a male. Not in real life and not online - Because I keep running into female targeted stuff which aren't even marked as female.

I'm so sorry for this, I just didn't know who else to tell- I'm sorry, I'm really sorry.. please forgive me for this.

You're not alone

A lot of the male/trans/gender non conforming community on this site have this issue and every time I see this shit in my fyp I comment and ask them to tag correctly because it's not right and I'm sorry that it brings you such emotional strife and I'm glad you're talking to me about this, I just ask next time you do please no color coding as I am colorblind lol

But seriously I'm sorry this is happening and it's triggering for me too, I have those tags blocked for a reason and it's not great seeing it everywhere because shits tagged wrong.

They wouldn't like seeing things that make them uncomfortable because of mistagging so why can't they give others that courtesy?

Tag your art. Some common tags are: original art (the concept is original and not from a person/show/podcast that you did not make/participate in the creation of). Fanart (the concept is based off of a show/podcast/series that you did not make or help make.) Collab art (you made this together with someone, give them credit and tag them too, specifically with @username so others can find them)

If you're unsure of a tag terminology (whump vs hurt comfort for example) ask someone or use urban dictionary, they're both equally reliable for gaining answers!

DO NOT TAG YOUR ART AS SOMETHING ITS NOT for example if your art is fanart NEVER put it under the original art tag. In fact especially for that example, as original artists have a harder time getting recognition for their work. Don't steal the spotlight from others just to look good. Mistakes happen but try to avoid them

If you find out you've mistagged something, apologize and fix it. You don't have to be like "oh my god I'm such a horrible human being I didn't mean to I'm so sorry forgive me please!!!!" But for example you could say "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to/realize. I'll fix it right away!" This indicates you had no ill intentions, AND makes you sound much more responsible than the person begging for forgiveness over a single mistagged post. It does happen, and to everyone at some point.

Tag your art so people can find it

If you're not sure what to tag or the definition of a tag ask for help from a long time member of the community or urban dictionary

Don't ever intentionally mistag something it's a dick move

If you accidentally mistag, Apologize and Fix It

Accidents happen, try to do better in the future
