Omega Seamaster 75th Anniversary Releases

In honour of the 75th anniversary of the Seamaster, Omega has released 3 beautiful updated versions of 2 classics and a modern inclusion in the Omega family.

I might do a post about the PO and the UD later, but anyone who knows me will know which of the three I ooo’d and ahhh’d over. (Though I will mention the cool Easter egg on the Ultra Deep. Because the original model was the one that made it down to the Mariana’s Trench, if you shine a UV light on the UD’s face, you’ll see this:)

But let’s get to (for me) the jewel of the trio-

This is a re-introduction of the steel version that was discontinued in 2019. They also brought the monobloc case back, which is a case built entirely of one piece to prevent water from leaking in, if you actually use this watch for its intended purpose! 

Omega has a new proprietary steel called O-megasteel, first introduced on the Ultra Deep in 2022, which gives the steel its shine. The blue dial is a throwback to the 1971 version, and the other notable difference from the previous version is its size, shaving off 3mm from lug to lug and 2.8mm in thickness.

Just an aside, for those who might not be clear on watch dimensions, here is an example:

So this watch is 45mm x 55mm x 15.5mm (lug to lug x diameter x thickness).

Would Mark Harmon Wear This Watch? Scale of 1-10: Absolute 10. He already owns a PloProf, which was the whole reason I started this blog in the first place. Wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if he already owns this one.

Hi! I’m glad someone is getting some entertainment out of my watch posts! :)

I’m kinda a geek about tech-y stuff, so I do like the HYT watches, though I wonder if the novelty would wear off after a while?

So I’d probably go with something classic, and for that, I really like the Omega Seamaster. It seems like a lazy answer, but it’s luxury without basically saying, “LOOK AT ME!!” :)

But if I wanted something sorta in between, I’d go for the Omega PloProf. There’s just something so needlessly clunky about this (for a person who doesn’t dive) that I can’t resist.

I usually don’t like the metal band, but I do like the Sharkskin band on this one. And I could always trade it out for the orange rubber strap that Mark Harmon wears.

I’m a woman, but I like the chunky watches, hence why all these watches are men’s. The HYT is about $60k (!), the Seamaster about $10k and the Ploprof about $8k. … which is probably why I don’t own any of these! Lol!

The Omega Seamaster Ploprof 1200 227.60.55.21.03.001 caliber 8912 master chronometer is definitely one of the more adventurous dive watches made in the last 10-20 years. The whole reissue of the Ploprof series has generally been both excellent and over-the-top with the sedna gold and titanium blue ceramic dial variant being the most wild. It answered a question nobody asked but the answer is so very good. It was my personal watch for pretty much all of covid and I wore it almost every day (while repeatedly changing both it and my underwear daily). I've been wearing a Speedy cream dial moon phase and this hasn't been worn in over a month and so now it's up for sale (on timetitans.com and eBay). It was only in production for about 4 years and while never limited was a very limited actual production; it was recently discontinued.
