since you brought it up, what is your ideal op video game?
Well, honestly, I don't think a perfect one piece game could exist. The charms of the series is the expansive world and its depth of story, and achieving both in a single game would be difficult, if not impossible. I also think there are way too many games rehashing the manga, and that's boring. So many possibilities exist beyond the Straw Hat's journey.
I do think it'd be cool if there existed a sort of build your own pirate crew game set in the op world. I'd actually set it in the past during Roger's last journey, with the goal of becoming the Pirate King. It gives a hard 3 year time limit to beat Roger to Laugh Tale. The Four Blues are the starting zones, and which ones you pick change certain bonuses you get at the start. Like, the East Blue has the reputation for being the weakest sea so combat would be easier but you'd have a higher chance of recruiting a crew member with a Dream at the cost of lower Reputation. Since it's pre Buster Call Ohara, the West would give higher chances of recruiting researchers, and the North would have higher science and military backgrounds, etc.
It'd be a mix of peocedurally generated locations and hand crafted islands, and as you go along recruiting people and fighting you gain Reputation, which in turn lets you fight and recruit stronger people. The bigger your crew the more you have to plunder to keep them happy, and if any of your crew have a Dream you have to help them achieve it or else they'll mutiny or leave the crew, but as Dreamers they're stronger with bonuses based on their skill or occupation.
Maybe how you resolve conflict also affects the type of people attracted to your cause, so if you gain a reputation for brutality more bloodthirsty pirates are more likely to follow you, and they get pissed if you go too long without letting them kill something. As you go along you gain maps, log poses, and other things to help survive the Grand Line, but if your Reputation gets too high a Big Player will come after you to knock you down a peg. Like, stay in the East Blue too long and Garp'll come knocking, and if you lose or fail to flee then he'll wipe out your crew and you have to start over.
Once you hit the Grand Line you gain a new Reputation meter specifically for the Grand Line. No one cares if you're the baddest dude in the East Blue once you hit Twin Capes, but if you find a merchant or NPC from your home sea then they'll know your Reputation and react accordingly. Same goes for the New World.
The end goal is to read the poneglyphs and reach Laugh Tale, whether by recruiting Oden, someone from the Three Eye Tribe, a member of the Oharan archeologists before they're blown up, or stealing the intel from another pirate crew. Should you achieve that goal, the game ends with an epic fight against Roger for the title of King.
There are enough canon characters from this era to make it recognizable (imagine fighting pre-Kaido Moriah!) while giving wiggle room for new characters, islands, and scenarios. I think it'd have to make the act of traveling on the high seas fun with hopefully some cool monster fights to spice things up.
Is this feasible? I don't know, probably not. But I think it'd be fun.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Winter ~ The Captain
she's always busy as the Captain of the Red-Haired Pirates, either trying to corral her crew (mostly Karina and Giselle) or find the next place or ship to plunder.
but for you? she has all of the time in the world.
You're very famously known as her soft spot on the crew, and people will use it to their advantage.
Of course she knows this, but if you're going to continue to kiss her and whisper sweet nothings in her ear... she'll let the shenanigans slide, for now.
Winter likes to show you off, whether by letting you commit the finishing blow on an opponent or giving you a chance to show off your own unique set of skills
Most of the time you spend together is at night when you're out at sea.
She'll be busy looking over the a map or checking some coordinates when you wrap your arms around her waist
a rare smile appears on her face as you state out at the open ocean together.
"Where are we going, my lovely Captain?"
"As long as you're by my side, wherever the seas take us, my dear."
Tumblr media
Karina ~ The Marksman
the loser (affectionate) marksman by day, the greasy (slightly drunk) flirt by night finds herself changing her ways as you two enter a serious relationship.
Karina feels much more comfortable being her dorky, usual self when it's just the two of you alone, but as your relationship progresses, more and more people see a different side of her
if you aren't a marksman like her, she takes you to a local shooting range and teaches you everything you need to know
"You need to aim a little higher on the target, otherwise you won't do much more than give them a good scare."
"I'd love to focus my aim, Karina, but you're making my heart pound when you're this close to me."
Karina is well-known on her crew for her drunken antics, especially with the various people she meets during her travels
It all stops with you - either you're watching her to make sure she doesn't get absolutely wasted, or you're the one participating in her antics while you're both drunk.
If it's the first option, you're able to pull her away from the bar with lots of affectionate or promises of stronger booze on the ship (you just send her straight to bed, and she's too tired to argue)
If it's the latter, you two often find yourselves cleaning the decks in order to avoid Winter's wrath due to the shitstorm that you usually cause.
But hey, at least you have someone to cuddle with as you nurse your hangover away.
Tumblr media
Giselle ~ The Arms Specialist/Mapmaker
Pulling double duty on the ship takes a toll on the amount of free time Giselle has, but when she has a free night, you can be sure that she's living it up, especially with you at her side.
You'll literally have her heart forever if you help her with her daily tasks, she's so stressed out with everything on her plate.
Depending on your specialties, you're either marking the map or helping with coordinates, or you're cleaning up gun powder and restocking the gunroom with newly pillaged supplies.
It works in Giselle's favor because she always can find a reason to talk with you when you're working on similar tasks.
"Do you need some help, darling?"
"I think I can handle myself, Giselle, but I don't mind the company."
After the ship has docked and the sun has disappeared from the sky, Giselle is finally free from most of her responsibilities.
She's dragging you to the nearest bar, either to hustle some of the crew at cards or to grab a few drinks.
You tell her that it's unfair to play cards against people you can't even sit straight, but you find that your concerns are silenced when a bottle of your favorite liquor is sitting at your side.
And if you're just grabbing drinks with her, she's sure to tell you how much she loves you (and all of the awesome pirating stories you missed out on before you started dating).
Tumblr media
Ningning ~ The "Rogue" Mercenary
The quiet, withdrawn "misfit" in the crew isn't drawn to having a friendly relationship to many on the crew, except for you, of course.
She hasn't fully adjusted to the pirating life, considering that she joined the crew after being held captive by them, so she often is quietly looking over your shoulder to understand how to be more useful aboard the ship
"You can come closer, it's easier to learn how to tie a knot when you can see what I'm doing."
"I can see fine from where I'm at, but thank you for the offer."
You invite her to many of the crew's nighttime activities, and it's rare for her to accept, but when she does, you see her cracking a smile and occasionally laughing at everyone's antics.
Ningning likes spending time with you one-on-one, and that's when she confesses her feelings for you.
Literally no one knows that the two of you are together, except for a drunk Karina that saw the two of you embrace one night (and no one believes her, to this day).
She doesn't like to teach you her trade, she went through a lot of shit to get her skills, but she will show you how to fight if you aren't the greatest at it.
You'll just have to put your pride to the side because she will beat your ass, every time, without fail.
Plus, she can steal a kiss or two while she has you pinned to the ground. She lectures you about not being distracted with a smirk on her face, as if it isn't her fault.

Roronoa Zoro - Different.
Tumblr media
Warning : none
Genre : fluff
Synopsis : “It could be with trust. Like it could start of angsty, but finishes with some fluff. For the character it could be with either Luffy or Zoro. I can't decide haha.” - anon
Reader : gender neutral (you/yours)
Tumblr media
To you, there was only one kind of pirate. The bad kind. The kind that ruins people's lives by pillaging and destroying towns. Pirates are destructive and marines are barely better. Assholes who use their authority to do anything they want without any repercussions.
So for you, the only way was being a pirate hunter. To do the job marines (barely) did without being affiliated to them.
Along the way you met another pirate hunter, Roronoa Zoro. Although he mainly did it for the money, you both had the same point of view and quickly became friends. Even working together on a few occasions.
Until you heard he had joined a pirate to become one himself. Betrayed, you went after him for explanations.
You found him in the restaurant Baratie, with what seemed like the rest of his crew. He quickly spotted you, after all, you weren't hiding and nodded hi to you.
You didn't reply, continuing staring and rapidly he knew what this was about. He sighed and said something to his table before standing up and going to yours.
“I don't sit with pirates.” You say, looking at him as he was about to take the chair. He still sat down, after a second of not moving and began to talk.
“I know what you think. But-”
“They're different ?” You raised an eyebrow, already expecting the boring excuses.
He said nothing for a moment.
“Listen, I don't owe you any explanation. Believe what you want but Luffy is not like the pirates you know.”
“I don't believe you.”
“Then don't.” He said and stood up, leaving to go back to his table.
You didn't try to talk to him more, only seeing him again when he fought one of the seven warlords, Dracule Mihawk as you walked out of the restaurant. You stayed, watching his friends’ expressions. Two looked stressed, while one in red looked confident, the three of them too focused to notice you staring.
“Luffy, if I fail to become the world's greatest swordsman… You'll be disappointed. Right ?”
“You could never fail me.” The man in red said.
“Never… again. From now… until I beat him.” He draws his only remaining sword, raising it in the air. “To become the greatest swordsman… I will never lose again !” He declared, before letting his sword fall to the side, passing out and with that you left.
What you saw of them was too little to make you change your mind. So when you saw their ship leave after some time, you followed them, believing they were leaving to plunder some innocent town like every pirate does.
Until you saw with your own two eyes Luffy freeing Cocoyasi village and all of the Conomi Island from Arlong by defeating him.
You couldn't believe it.
The village had gathered to celebrate their freedom thanks to the small crew and you stood there amongst them, shocked.
You expected pirates like Arlong, they were the kind you knew since your early age. But pirates like Luffy ? It was your first time seeing or hearing about it.
Zoro came toward you, two plates in his hand. One for himself, one for you.
He handed you one, waiting for you to take it.
“...Thanks.” You said, unsure of what else to say as you grabbed the plate.
“Didn't think you'd follow me there.”
“You said they were different.”
“I did.”
“I didn't know it was possible. How did you know ?”
He shrugged, smiling.
“Luffy convinced me.”
“Why didn't you tell me you did that kind of thing ?”
“Would you have believed me if I told you we freed the people of Orange town ?”
“You what ?” You said in disbelief and Zoro chuckled at your reaction.
“An evil clown took the town hostage for his circus. Bunch of weirdos.”
You stared at him with wide eyes, you couldn't believe your ears.
“No. I wouldn't have believed you. Is this true ?”
“Yeah, they captured us because we have the Grand Line map.”
“Damn.” You said quietly, smiling as well. “I'm sorry. I know you're not stupid, I should've trusted your judgment.”
“No, I understand. I would've done the same in your place.”
“No, you would've tried to take my head.”
He laughed at that, nodding.
“Maybe so.” He smirked, glad you two were alright again.

Battle of the Captains
Round 3 Part 2 Poll 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda
Captain Flint was the captain of a pirate ship, The Walrus, which accumulated an enormous amount of captured treasure. On August 1, 1750, Flint and six members of his crew bury the plunder on an island located somewhere in the Caribbean Sea. Flint then murders his six assistants, leaving the corpse of one with its arms outstretched in the direction of the buried treasure. The location of the treasure had been marked by Flint on a map and while he was dying it entrusted to his first mate William "Billy" Bones. The only person Flint was said to fear was his quartermaster John Silver, who later even called his parrot "Captain Flint" in mockery.
[The poll runner -hi !- has been informed that Nemo is so against propaganda he'd refuse to use any for his sake]

They say that a siren's song is the most tempting sound in all the seven seas. That the delicate melody is pure seduction in its most refined form. The same could be said about the siren itself though too.
The ‘they’ in question are the sailors- the pirates that travel the open waters far and wide. As the daughter of a notorious pirate captain you grew up hearing many tales of the creatures that dwelled beneath the waves; none more notorious than the siren. They were always depicted as beautiful beings, with the most attractive faces and the body of a fish.
Your whole life was spent upon a ship; at first your fathers then when you became an adult you found a crew of your own. Now you were almost as famous a captain as your father, a woman captain was nearly unheard of let alone one as cunning and quick witted as you. You worked hard for your reputation, showing off your prowess and not letting any man or law stand in your way.
You had never believed in such tales of any fantastical creatures, having never seen one yourself in all your years of sailing. Never once had you encountered anything particularly out of the ordinary- until you did.
The night that you saw it - saw him- for the first time had been a dark one, the moon shrouded by heavy gray clouds covering everything in a sheet of black. You and your crew had come ashore to celebrate a particularly plentiful plunder. The bar you had spent most of your evening in had become boring, the men in there were too far up their own ass to take you seriously, so you decided to take the party back to the ship that was docked down by the shore.
As you made your way down the dock you noticed something from the corner of your eye. There was an unnatural shimmering down by the edge of the dock, a stark contrast to the dark wood, that drew your eye. Just as your head turned to fully see what was causing the light a loud splash was heard and the shimmer was gone.
You rubbed your eyes with the back of your palm, staggering over to the edge of the dock. You peered down into the dark murky depths, narrowing your eyes to find the source (if there was one anyway). Just as you were about to continue on your way, you saw it again. Faintly there was a glimmer that seemed to be moving slowly under the dock.
You dropped to your knees, your shins hitting the wood roughly and you stuck your face closer to the water. Maybe it was the copious amounts of liquor that was coursing through your body, or maybe the sea hysteria was catching up to you faster than you had anticipated, but looking down into the water you could make out a mass.. And a face. If you didn’t know any better you would even say that the figure waved at you.
But you did know better. It was the alcohol, it had to be. There was no way there was anything of note down there. A manatee maybe- but definitely not a person. Either way the mass was no longer visible to you. With a shake of your head to clear your thoughts you stood back on your feet, albeit wobbly and mildly unsteady, and you made your way back to the ship.
Tumblr media
The next time you saw him was out in the open sea. Your trusted ship - the ‘Halazia’- was speeding through the water, allowing the wind to guide you to your next adventure. The sun was beginning to set, giving the sky a deep orange glow that was fading into decadent purples. Most of the crew was below deck preparing to turn in for the evening, leaving just you on the top deck.
You were looking over a map you had recently acquired, the old parchment laid out on a barrel that you were leaning upon. A sudden thud of the wood of your ship was heard to your right, making you jump slightly and spin around, your hand going to the hilt of your sword.
A gasp escaped you as your eyes made contact with another pair- a much darker pair, so dark you could not make out the whites of them. Someone, or something, had climbed up the side of the boat and was peering over at you. Only the top part of their head and face were visible as the being stared at you.
Your hand did not leave your cutlass as you held his gaze, his eyes unblinking as they drank you in. Somehow you just knew this was no normal person. For one there was no way anyone could have made it on your ship without your knowledge. And reason number two was you were out in the middle of the ocean, miles and miles from the nearest island.
The beating in your heart accelerated as your mind raced. You felt like you could not move; as if you were frozen in place under this beings scrutinizing gaze. You did not know what was happening to you, or what he was and why you were reacting this way. The last stow away was swiftly dealt with with the very blade that sat on your hip.
The two of you stared at each other for what felt like hours, though logically you knew it was only a few seconds, before a loud clamoring of footsteps were heard making their way up the steps to the top deck.
The sound broke the spell you seemed to be under, making you turn your head quickly to see a few members of your crew making their way up. Just as quickly as you looked at the crew you looked back to where the being was, only to find he was gone and a loud splash was left in his wake.
Tumblr media
It was three weeks before you saw him again. It was late- much too late for you to be awake- but you could not find an ounce of sleep. You had been tossing and turning in your quarters for hours, unable to get comfortable. The stuffiness of your room did nothing to quell your unrest and you found yourself craving fresh air. With a gruff sigh you got out of bed and slipped your long coat on, then made your way out onto the deck. Since it had to be nearing three in the morning the whole crew was asleep, leaving you alone once more. You did not mind though. The solitude of night was a nice change to the normal chaos of the day.
You sat on the railing overlooking the open seas. The water was mostly still tonight thankfully, giving you a sense of peace. This was exactly what you needed, the salty air and sound of the moving waves were already doing an excellent job of lulling you to sleep, your eyes growing heavier by the second.
That was until a delicate voice called out to you.
“Hello.”
Your eyes snapped back open, the sleep knocked from you like a punch. Leaning over the side of the ship directly next to you was that being again, only this time his whole head was showing and he was resting it on his forearms as he drank you in again. Although you did not see much of him last time you inherently knew he was the same creature as before.
You felt like you could not speak nor move under his gaze. You could do nothing but notice how handsome he was. His black hair was shaggy as it framed his face, his lips a pouty and a rosy pink color. The light from the moon was doing wonders in illuminating him for you.
He smiled when he saw he had caught your attention, addressing you again with his deep purr, “Hi there.” You tried to reply but the words were caught in your throat, unable to come out. He noticed this and a giggle left him, his head tilting in amusement. “Hmm, you can’t talk? Siren got your tongue?”
Siren.. Siren.. No fucking way
All of the air returned to you at once, making you gasp quietly, and finally regain some of your composure. “Who are you?” You asked.
“Seonghwa.” He replied, never blinking as he twirled a piece of his hair. “You’re Y/n.”
“How do you know my name?” You demanded, frightened but intrigued all the same. No, not intrigued, more like enthralled by him.
Seonghwa shrugged coyly, tapping his sharp nails on the wood. “Heard a lot ‘bout you. Been watching you for a while.” He leaned in closer as if he was going to tell you a secret, “I like looking at pretty things. Do you like pretty things too, Y/n?”
You found yourself nodding to his question, face heated up at his words. His voice was deep and sensual, like soft silk. “Yes.”
His lips curled into a charming smile. Damn he was the most gorgeous man you had ever seen. “Mm,” Seongwha ran the tip of his tongue over the front of his teeth, showcasing the sharp canines- sharper than what is natural. “Then how about you come take a good look at me?”
You could feel a sense of trepidation at his words. He was tempting, too tempting, and the warning alarms in your brain were starting to go crazy. As much as you wanted to get closer to him you could not. For the first time in the last few minutes you defied him. “N-no, I will stay o-ver here.” You mentally chastised yourself for stuttering, wanting to remain the strong captain you knew you were.
The creature narrowed his eyes at you, clearly showing his annoyance at your resistance. His nails tapped even harder against the wood. Then he smiled again, an innocent look taking over his features and he batted his long lashes at you. Aww, you don’t wanna see me? You’re gonna hurt my feelings, darling.” He lowered his voice even more, the timber of it sending chills down your spine. “Come over here, before I make you.”
You vehemently shook your head, denying him even though you felt your toes move as if they were inching towards him anyways.
Stay strong. Y/n. You must not give in to him.
Seonghwa gave you a pout then you heard a loud banging sound coming from beneath him, as if a large mass had smacked harshly against the side of your ship. “Alright pretty girl, we’ll do things your way. Remember you asked for this, hmm?”
The siren began to hum, a rich melody flowing from him in waves. He sang to you, in a language you had neve heard before yet you understood it instantly. It was a song of longing, of need and fulfillment. It was absolutely bewitching.
As his voice grew louder you felt your brain begin to fog, like your inhibitions were releasing slowly from you. Your body was swaying to the tune and your feet started to move against your will. It felt less like walking and more like you were floating towards him.
His voice felt like warm honey as it engulfed you, sticky and sweet and oh so delicious as it ensnared you. You wanted to drown in it- in him.
You had made it, albeit slowly, over to the edge, now standing directing in front of him. Seonghwa ended his song with a soft, pleased sigh. “There she is, my jolly sailor bold. Did you enjoy my song? I sang it just for you.” He lifted his hand and ran one long finger down the side of your cheek. Even in your dazed state you could feel how cold and clammy he was as he caressed you.
A mindless nod was your only response. Words would not find you- could not find you- while he had you under his control. Not that you currently mind. The only thing on your mind was him, him, him. Nothing else mattered.
His hand traveled from your cheek down your neck and then to your shoulder. His nails traced the veins under your skin as he went, his black eyes never faltering as he watched the trail. “So delicate, too soft for a pirate. This life isn’t suitable for a pretty thing like you, don’t you agree?” Another nod was all you offered. “Mmm, you don’t want to grow old out here, become weathered and grizzled and burdened by the piracy. No no, I think it’s best to stay this way. To stay soft and tender and young. Forever.”
His final word came out like a deathly hiss as he grabbed you forcefully, yanking your whole body over the edge of the ship with him. A scream was caught in your throat as the cold water washed over you, your limbs thrashing violently.
Even though the saltiness burned your eyes they were frantic and wild as you fought with your captor. From this close you could see him fully. Could see the lower half of his body was indeed not human. A long fishtail with iridescent scales was in place of where legs would normally be. From down here his teeth were sharper and they were curled into a teasing smirk.
You fought against him but he kept dragging you down further and further into the depths. Water was filling your lungs making them burn terribly. Seonghwa dug his nails into your skin breaking the surface making rivers of blood trickle out.
The dastardly creature cooed at you as you struggled, “It’s ok darling, it’ll all be over in a second. Then you will always be remembered just as you are.”
You could not get away. You knew your fate was sealed as black dots started to fill your vision. The last thing you would ever see is this monster's teeth tearing into your shoulder and a flurry of dark red.

Map of the Island of Jamaica (1717)
PIRATE & MAROON HISTORY OF JAMAICA
When the English captured Jamaica in 1655, most Spanish colonists fled, with the exception of Spanish Jews, who chose to remain. Spanish slave holders freed their slaves before leaving. Many slaves dispersed into the mountains, joining the already established maroon communities. During the centuries of slavery, Jamaican Maroons established free communities in the mountainous interior of Jamaica, where they maintained their freedom and independence for generations.
Meanwhile, the Spanish made several attempts to re-capture the island, prompting the British to support pirates attacking Spanish ships in the Caribbean; as a result piracy became rampant on Jamaica, with the city of Port Royal becoming notorious for its lawlessness.
Spain recognized English possession of the island in 1670.
By the early 1670s, as the English developed sugar cane plantations worked by large numbers of slaves, black Africans formed a majority of the population. The Irish in Jamaica also formed a large part of the island's early population, making up two-thirds of the white population on the island in the late 17th century, twice that of the English population. They were brought in as indentured labourers and soldiers after the conquest of 1655. The majority of Irish were transported by force as political prisoners of war from Ireland as a result of the ongoing Wars of the Three Kingdoms. Migration of large numbers of Irish to the island continued into the 18th century.

Port Royal circa 1690 prior to the 1692 Earthquake, by Peter Dunn (x)
PORT ROYAL
On the southeast coast of Jamaica, it was the main port of Jamaica. It was given a powerful fortress by the British, but the withdrawal of the Royal Navy after its conquest left it exposed to Spanish warships. From 1657, Governor Edward D’Oyley, encouraged buccaneers of several nationalities to make the harbour their base and concentrate their plundering on Spanish ships, issuing letters of marque as authority to do so. England’s war with Spain ended in 1660, but many of the buccaneers continued their attacks on legitimate shipping. Subsequent governors were wont to encourage piracy since the presence of many well-armed ships in the harbour significantly lessened the threat from Spain, the Netherlands, and France.
Port Royal became a pirate hotspot in the second half of the 17th century simply because it was so far from the authorities in London and those officials on the island were more pragmatic. Its advantages included a naturally protected harbour that could hold up to 500 ships and a strategic location right in the middle of the Caribbean-Americas shipping routes.
Buccaneers like Sir Henry Morgan, who repeatedly attacked Spanish ships and colonial ports, were based on Jamaica. Morgan was even appointed Lieutenant-governor in 1675. Port Royal became awash with goods and riches, so much so, one contemporary author described it as having more cash than London. By 1680, the haven’s prosperity is evidenced by the presence of over 100 taverns. There were, too, so many gaming houses and brothels that a visiting clergyman described Port Royal as “the Sodom of the New World” (Breverton, 260). This clergyman did not even bother to stay but returned to England on the very same ship on which he had arrived “since the majority of its population consists of pirates, cut-throats, whores and some of the vilest persons in the whole of the world, I felt my permanence there was of no use”.
In 1681 the Jamaican authorities finally outlawed piracy, and the pirates moved to other havens such as New Providence. Port Royal was destroyed on 7 June 1692 by a combination of earthquake and tsunami. Several thousand people were killed in the disaster. Although half of Port Royal slipped forever into the ocean, the spot would eventually return to prominence as a place where several notorious pirates were hanged and operate as a British naval base.

Port Royal circa 1840 after rebuilding from the Earthquake, by Peter Dunn (x)
THE JAMAICAN MAROONS
Jamaican Maroons descend from Africans who freed themselves from slavery in the Colony of Jamaica and established communities of free black people in the island's mountainous interior. Africans who were enslaved during Spanish rule over Jamaica (1493–1655) may have been the first to develop such refugee communities.
When the English captured Jamaica in 1655, the Spanish colonists fled, leaving a large number of African slaves. Former slaves organized under the leadership of Juan de Serras and Juan de Bolas, and they established themselves in modern-day Clarendon County, fighting on the side of the Spanish against the English. When de Bolas switched sides and joined the English, the Spanish abandoned hope of recapturing Jamaica, accepting that de Bolas and his men were better equipped for fighting in the forested mountains of the interior than the Spanish. Juan de Bolas and his Spanish Maroons then served as a "black militia" for the English. In 1664, de Bolas was killed in an ambush. Some historians believe that de Bolas was killed by Maroons from the group led by de Serras.
Following the death of de Bolas, his group of Black Militia Maroons faded from history, while de Serras and his community continued to trouble the English authorities for years to come. In the mid-1660s, they relocate to the Blue Mountains in eastern Jamaica, from which they soon resumed attacks on the English colonial authorities. Juan de Serras' group of Jamaican Maroons established a distinct independent community, and they survived by subsistence farming and periodic raids of plantations. Over time, the Maroons came to control large areas of the Jamaican interior. In the second half of the 17th century, de Serras fought regular campaigns against the English colonial forces, even attacking the capital of Spanish Town, and he was never defeated by the English.
In the early 18th century, Maroons frequently defeated the British in small-scale skirmishes In response, the British colonial authorities dispatched the colonial militia to attack them, but the Maroons successfully fought a guerrilla campaign against them in the mountainous interior.
THE FIRST MAROON WAR
Later Maroon groups were formed in the Blue Mountains in the eastern end of the island, and in the Cockpit Country in the west. They were known as the Windward Maroons and the Leeward Maroons respectively, and they conducted a decade-long war with the British colonial authorities throughout the 1730s, known as the First Maroon War.
Cudjoe and his lieutenant was Accompong led the Leeward Maroons in the Cockpit Country. Quao and Queen Nanny led the Windward Maroons in the Blue Mountains.
Disturbed by plantation raiding, the colonial authorities of Jamaica wanted to eradicate the Maroon communities in order to promote British settlement. Their strategy, beginning in the 1730s, was to break off lines of communication between the Windward and Leeward Maroons, then first pick off the less organized Windward Maroons. After much fighting, the British took and destroyed Nanny Town in 1734, but most of the Windward Maroons simply dispersed and formed new settlements. At this point, however, fighting shifted to Leeward, where the British troops had equally limited success against the well-trained and organized forces of Cudjoe.
Eventually, the Maroons signed treaties with the British colonial authorities in 1739 and 1740. These treaties granted the Maroons a certain amount of political autonomy and economic freedoms, in return for which they agree not to harbour new runaway slaves, but rather to help catch them. In all, about 600 Maroons came to terms with the British authorities through these two treaties.
Not all the Maroons accepted the treaties. Rebellions occurred in Maroon communities in the years that followed. After the treaties, white superintendents appointed by the governors eventually took control of the Maroon towns.

Defend Your Blurbo Submission (this is LONG—1105 words, sorry!)
Dorsal Fin Appreciation or Lack Thereof
Hear me out y’all, but Arlong the Saw seriously needs more love in this fandom than he is getting. This is not a plea to the folks who don’t go feral at all for anyone in One Piece, this plea is for my fellow One Piece fans. Why so angry?
Out of all the villains in the entire franchise, and I am 100% ignoring the Live Action by Netflix—this is about OG canon Arlong from the anime (haven’t really read the manga yet), he seems to be the most hated. I have seen more genuine love and affection for Kleenex Boi Trebol than I have for He Carries Two Fish Sticks Everywhere He Goes Arlong.
Yes, he did conquer an island in the East Blue. Yes, he did extort money from the citizens monthly (effectively making him a loan shark). Yes, he took a young Nami and had her work for him, originally under horrible circumstances. And yes, he did kill Nami’s adoptive mother Bell-Mere. I feel like y’all shut him out of fandom love simply for killing Bell-Mere.
Out of all the villains that regularly see love, he killed a whopping one person. One.
He let Bell-Mere give parting words to her girls, he let her say goodbye, and he actually killed her rather quickly. He didn’t torture her, didn’t rape her, didn’t drag anything out. He stated that if you can’t pay, you die. He didn’t lie. She couldn’t pay so she died. Arlong is very cut-and-dry, you know exactly what you’re going to get with him.
Compare him to someone like Eustass Kid, who has killed way more innocent people than Arlong ever will. Kid got his bounty based on his egregiously high civilian casualty count. His big bad bounty came from innocent blood being spilled, that’s what makes Kid so damn dangerous to the government. Because let’s face it, he fails as much as Buggy does in the whole pirating thing. He took on Kaido at least once and lost and he took on Shanks twice and lost. He doesn’t win his pirate battles; he just wins at killing people who can’t defend themselves against him. And y’all eat him up like candy.
Arlong kills one backstory character and he’s the most hated man in One Piece. He’s better looking than Hody Jones and many other characters, he’s more humane than even he wants to admit, and he had great character development too.
He started off treating Nami like a slave or a pet and in ten years’ time grew to consider her a valued officer and crew mate. He wasn’t just fighting to keep his cartographer; he was fighting to keep the only female member of his pirate family from leaving.
Doflamingo killed his own father when he was a child, murdered his own brother, murdered countless other people, and overthrew a fucking country. And y’all drool over him like a stuck pig at a luau.
Arlong was a pretty solid pirate all things considered. He plundered consistently over the course of 10 years and built himself an empire on land rather than a fleet. He had a cunning plan. He had minions within the Marines (just as Doffy did with Vergo, but Arlong’s were actual marines), so he infiltrated through human frailty. He only committed one act of murder.
He had all the maps, a creature from the Grand Line and let’s not forget he and all but one of his crew were also from the Grand Line. He kicked ass. He even had convictions; he wasn’t all about himself. He cared about his own species, every single member of his crew, and he never turned on any of them. He did exploit a loophole with Nami but regarding his own people, he treasured all of them.
When they did something wrong or disagreed with him, he never harmed them. He didn’t treat them like shit. Their lives were precious to him. Hody Jones not only abused other fishmen/fishwomen, but he also flat out killed them. He murdered his own monarch and any fishman who didn’t agree with him 100% was killed. Arlong would fall on his own sword before even letting so much as the idea of killing any of his own kind cross his mind.
When Arlong did have disagreements with other fishmen, he just separated from them and went his own way. He never killed his own kind, wouldn’t dream of it. Arlong has lines in the sand that he will not cross, he has boundaries and respects them. Arlong actually has morals that he adheres to. Hody Jones is amoral, and Doffy isn’t far behind. Hell, Arlong has more solidified convictions and morals than Sakazuki, who like Hody, kills his own subordinates if they disagree with him.
Arlong really isn’t that villainous of a villain. In my opinion, he is a deeply traumatized person who never dealt with his trauma. He bottled it all up and is slowly consuming him. He’s damaging himself by doing that and he is able to be mislead by thinking he’s doing right and following solid ideals. He truly believes his species is superior and he truly believes that they need to rise up and take their freedom.
Now, he isn’t wrong. Fishmen are treated horribly and they do need to take their freedom, but treating humans the exact way they have been treated is also wrong. Arlong is so deeply wounded that he hasn’t figured that part out yet. He was starting to with Nami evolving in his crew. He even admitted to her intelligence and skill a few times, he was slowly starting to mend his ways when she left.
Arlong is deeply traumatized, misguided, but redeemable. And yet, no one gives him a chance. How can you all heap the love on civilian slaughterer Kid, pirate failure Buggy, snotastic Trebol, familicide Doffy, royal traitor Crocodile, domestic terrorist Sakazuki (because like me, some of y’all out there love him too), fish gutter Hody Jones, delulu “deity” Enel, lard ass Blackbeard, or giant psycho Kaido with the scrawny legs that shouldn’t be able to support him but y’all can’t find three nice things to say about Arlong the Saw and his glorious dorsal fin?
I mean come on! Have you seen that sexy dorsal fin of his? He’s tall, has luscious locks, teeth that regenerate, two fresh fish sticks in his pants, a cool ass sword, decent fashion sense, and he can breathe underwater which is just so cool.
Why must you hate him so? He’s not that bad all things considered.
Defend Your Blurbo #7
Please remember this post is about curiosity and genuine fandom discourse. Be kind with your answers because this is not a debate essay, this is a discussion between fans.
Tumblr media
Well, in case anyone doesn't know who Arlong is, he's an early One Piece villain.
Now, this anon took a much different approach to the series than the others, so have fun with this and One Piece fandom. Defend your Blorbo

The raucous tavern was packed to the brim with rowdy patrons, the air thick with the pungent aroma of spilled ale and the boisterous laughter of drunken pirates. You and your weathered crew had just returned from a successful plundering expedition, нщгк hold brimming with the spoils of their latest hunt.
"I told you everything would be great! You all deserve a break! I truly have the best crew! Here's to you guys!" You shouted loudly.
"Here's to you, Y/N!" Your crew shouted in unison, raising their glasses of drinks.
Eager to celebrate their triumph, your crew, the salty seadogs wrapped their calloused hands around glasses of foaming, amber liquid as they regaled each other with tales of their daring exploits on the high seas.
The din of clinking glasses, raucous singing, and riotous cheers echoed off the wooden walls, creating a cacophony that seemed to match the celebratory mood. Tankards were slammed down on the scarred tabletops, sending frothy splashes onto the floor, while burly men with wind-chapped faces slapped each other's backs heartily.
Amidst the revelry, you and your crew revelled in the spoils of your successful hunt, your hearts swelling with pride and your spirits high as you toasted to another triumphant voyage on the open waters.
"Who's our best captain?" Your crew shouted loudly. "Y/N!!"
"Come on, guys!" You burst out laughing. "Although yes, I'm the best! And the best thing is that we sto--" Your voice was drowned out by someone else's loud laughter. "That.. Fuck! That we stole another map that should lead us to even more treasure. Tomo---. Tomor--." You turned the scroll over in your hands. "Tomorrow we will gather in my cabin and plan everyth--- out. Fuck! Who's laughing?" You looked around and noticed several men in the corner.
In the corner, a group of scruffy-looking scallywags were engaged in a raucous game of dice, their hushed curses and raucous laughter mingling with the general din.
"Okay." You downed your beer and walked over to the table. "Hey, you… You're at the table!" You wobbled slightly as you approached the group. "Could you stop laughing like crazy? We're celebrating."
"I don't give a shit what you're celebrating." A tall man, half-turned to you, rolled the dice. "Yeah, I won!"
"Listen, me and my crew…"
"Your crew? That bunch of idiots sitting by the bar?" The man turned to you, pointing at the bar.
"Oh, my God!" You wobbled slightly as you saw the big red nose and face painted with makeup. "Oh, wait, I know you! I saw your wanted poster in Shells Town. But apparently you're so inconspicuous that I don't even remember your name."
"Hey, honey, you're talking to the future king of the pirates." The clown crossed his legs and started tapping his fingers on the table. "And I'm Buggy, by the way. Who are you?"
"Y/N. The Captain of Cherry Blossom Pirates. And I'm worth a lot of money, unlike you, Buggy from Shells Town or wherever you are."
Buggy silently scanned you from head to toe. He noticed your crisp white shirt, cinched at the waist by a worn leather belt, gave way to well-fitted trousers tucked into sturdy boots. He looked at your eyes for a second and burst into laughter.
"Fuck! I'm so scared." Buggy started to mimic you. "Captain of the Cherry Blossom, and I'm worth a lot of money. I don't care who you a--" He noticed the scroll in your pocket. "What's this?"
"Nothing." You carefully lowered the scroll deeper into your pocket.
"That's the map!" Buggy pointed at the paper. "And more over, that's my map!"
"Does it have your name on it?" You shrugged. "That's my map, I stole it from some scatterbrain at the port."
"Hey! I'm not scatterbrain. I got distracted! Listen, strawberry queen. Give me the map back!" Buggy stood up from his chair and reached for your pants.
"Cherry, actually. I told you the name of my crew two minutes ago, idiot." You narrowed your eyes and slapped his hand.
"Give me back the fucking map!" Buggy was about to touch your thigh, but you grabbed his hand. "Ugh! You took my hand. I like that!"
You quickly pulled a knife out of your boot and held it to his throat. "Don't touch me, clown. I'll cut you into pieces."
"Oh, I'd like to see that too." Buggy winked at you and saw how your team got up from the table, slowly walking towards you, drawing daggers. "Okay, you know, cherry blossom or whatever your name is, I think things are getting tense.  And I think... I'm gonna get out of here." Buggy took your hand, kissed it and snapped his fingers at his team, abruptly leaving the bar.
You shrugged and, ending the evening, you returned to your ship. You decided to take a walk along the deck before going to sleep, at the same time checking that everything was in order, and that the guard shift was in their places. As you strode across the deck of the mighty galleon, your presence commanded the attention of all who laid eyes upon you.
"A quiet night tonight, huh, captain?" One of the crew members came up to you and handed you your favorite lemon tea.
"Yes." You took a sip. "Delicious. Well, everything is fine. I'm off to bed. We'll dock at the island in a few days, where I hope to find the treasures that this map points to." You patted your pocket with your hand.
As the golden rays of the morning sun peeked over the horizon, illuminating the gently lapping waves of the tranquil island shore, you set out with a sense of eager anticipation. You split up with the team to get a better look at the island. The weathered, aged map you clutched in your hands had led you to this remote, secluded locale, its faded markings promising the potential discovery of long-lost treasure. With each step you took across the powdery white sand, your eyes scanned the lush, verdant landscape, searching intently for any sign or indication that would point you towards the elusive coordinates the map had indicated. The soft crunch of your footsteps was the only sound that broke the peaceful silence, as you made your way deeper into the island, ducking under the broad, hanging fronds of towering palm trees and pushing through the dense, tangled underbrush.
"Damn, I feel like someone's watching me." You looked around.
"What, Y/N? Your precious crew abandoned their captain?"
You heard Buggy's voice from behind you and turned to him.
"Oh, my God! What are you doing here?" You jumped in surprise, clutching the map in your hands.
"I came to take what's mine. My map and my treasure. And by the way. Thank you for bringing me here! You made my treasure hunt job easier." Buggy came closer to you. "I really had to follow you for a few days. You take so-o-o-o long to plan everything. I thought I'd get old."
"Oh, my God," You rolled your eyes, "are you so-o-o-o lazy that you can't even find your way around, and you just decided to follow a defenseless girl? Don't you have anything better to do?"
"You're defenseless? Don't make me laugh, baby!"
"Don't call me that!" You barked. "Wait. Were you following me? How did I not notice?" You whispered quietly.
"You must have been so enchanted by my beauty that you couldn't think of anything else." Buggy took two big steps and pressed himself against you. "Wait." He put his finger to your lips. "Do you hear that?"
"What?" You mumbled.
"The sound of you losing." Buggy gave you a sharp peck on the lips, grabbed the map from your hands and ran away. "I told you it was my map, and I'll give it back! Bye, strawberry queen!!!"
"IT'S A CHERRY!!!" You shouted after him. "Fucking clown!! Stop!" You ran after Buggy, and seeing part of your crew, you signalled them to run after you.
As you raced after the fleeing figure, your heart pounding with exhilaration and anticipation, you finally caught up to him near a remote, overgrown area that according to the map to conceal a hidden trove of valuable treasure. Breathless, you watched as Buggy furtively began scouring the ground. His eyes were narrowed in intense concentration, darting back and forth as he searched for any signs or clues that might lead him to the elusive prize.
"Hey, you!" You shouted at Buggy. "Didn't your mother ever teach you that stealing from girls is bad?" You pulled the knife out of your boot.
"What?" Buggy came at you like a predator at its prey. "You want a piece of me? Come on, let's see what you got."
Your face, set in a determined scowl, gripped the hilt of your knife tightly, the metal glinting in the afternoon sun. Your lithe form coiled and ready to spring into action at the slightest provocation. The air was thick with tension, the sound of the crashing waves and cawing gulls providing a wild, primal backdrop. You and Buggy began to circle each other, your footsteps leaving imprints in the pristine white sand, each one trying to anticipate the other's next move.
You swung the dagger, but Buggy grabbed your wrist, squeezing your hand with each passing second, and then suddenly hooked your leg with his own, winked, threw you down on the sand and fell on you with all his weight.
"Listen, you haven’t even taken me out to dinner yet, and you’re already practically lying on me." You chuckled. "Let me go, fucking clown!!" You tried to kick him in the knee.
"Calm down, strawberry!"
"CHERRY, for heaven's sake!"
"You know," Buggy ran his finger over your cheek, "I've read about you since our first meeting and I don't understand why we need to fight."
"What? What are you talking aboyt?" You looked at Buggy with a surprised look.
"We are both smart, famous, amazing, fabolous and scary pirates."
"What? Are you afraid of losing the battle for fucking ego and dominance to a girl? Let me go!" You tried to jerk away, but he pressed you even harder to the ground.
"No, I'm just going to take what's rightfully mine and get off this fucking island." Buggy leaned closer to you and began to whisper in your ear. "But under good circumstances I would offer cooperation, Y/N. But we are not in good circumstances."
You noticed how your team jerked from their place to begin the attack. "Don't! I'm fine, guys!" You shifted your gaze to Buggy. "Give me at least one reason to cooperate with you, clown?"
"I'm handsome and funny, isn't that enough?" Buggy shrigged, sqeezing your hand.
"You're an idiot." You rolled your eyes. "Okay, listen! Let's do it this way. I agree to cooperate, theoretically, what next?"
"Well, for example, although I don't want to suggest it, for starters, we'll split the treasure. 50\50, okay?" Buggy lost in thoughts for a second. "Then we'll go to the nearest bar and discuss our plans. We can create a strong alliance, baby."
"An alliance? Well.. Sounds good. Let's try. Just let me go." You sighed and felt him release his grip.
Buggy helped you up and you both gave orders to your teams to start digging in the area indicated on the map.
As you and Buggy stood on the sun-drenched beach, watching intently as your respective crews began furiously digging into the golden sand, you couldn't help but steal occasional glances at your notorious pirate companion out of the corner of your eye. Buggy's typically animated and mischievous demeanor had been replaced by an uncharacteristic air of confidence and self-assurance, his muscular arms crossed firmly over his broad chest as he observed the proceedings with an unwavering gaze. There was a distinct sense of certainty in his posture, a silent conviction that this treasure hunt would yield the coveted prize he sought. You couldn't help but be intrigued by this shift in Buggy's normally jovial persona - it was as if he knew something you did not, some secret that gave him an advantage over the situation at hand. The way he carried himself, with an almost regal bearing, suggested a deep-seated belief that victory was all but assured, that the chest of riches lay just beneath the sandy expanse, waiting to be unearthed and claimed as his own.
"There's nothing!" Your teams said in unison, digging a deep hole.
"What?" Your eyes widened. "No way! I definitely read the map. Here, look." You stood next to Buggy, pointing your finger at the map.
"Let me see." He picked it up. "Fuck. It's mine. Fre-e-aks." Buggy looked at his crew.
"Yes, Captian!"
"It's time to run!" Buggy chuckled.
"WHAT??" You squealed. "What do you mean, Buggy?"
"You read the map wrong! You miscalculated the coordinates." He winked at you, putting the map in his pocket. "Sorry, sometimes I like to do things right, but not today."
"What about the alliance? Did you deceive me?"
"I'm a rogue and a deceiver. But about the alliance." Buggy folded his hand, pointed his thumb at you and winked. "Maybe later, strawberry queen!" Buggy screamed, disappearing between the trees.
"THIS IS A CHERRY!!!"

Do you have any lore for your pirate AU you can share? 👀
so its not super developed, and im not sure if ill build on it much, but i have a bit of lore!
doom is the captain of the Comet, and hes super feared and has legends around him and stuff. out of nowhere he just goes off the map, radio silent for years. then, after the years of nothing, theres sightings of the Comet sailing again, but with a new captain, aka Shadow.
shadow has the third eye in this au because it's essentially dooms way of keeping things under his control from the background. shadow may be the new captain, but dooms the one pulling the strings.
meanwhile, sonic and co are all childhood friends. they all grow up hearing about the pirate legends, and sonic actually saw the Comet once.
sonic, being who he is, decides to sail when he grows up, and challenge the Comet. when he hears tell of the new captain, rumored to be a deity of the ocean, and the fastest pirate alive, sonic cant NOT go after it!
amy has her own ship, shes not a pirate, but she ships goods back and forth. eventually the entire crew is convinced to tag along on sonics little quest.
when they run low on goods, they make a plan to plunder a kingdom. they kidnap their princess, blaze, and make their demands. sonic whispers to her that they arent actually gonna kill her obviously, its just rough out here you know?
blaze however, is sick of stuffy palace life, and asks if she can tag along. the crew agrees, so with a new member and replenished food, theyre back on their way. (yes blazamy is implied)
when the do find the Comet, they get. absolutely thrashed.
however , the captain is impressed at the show of skill, and agrees to let the rest of the crew go free in exchange for sonic.
doom, however, isnt pleased that shadow let the rest of the crew live (that one comic). sonic ends up overhearing that doom isnt actually dead, and realizes this great legend he read about for so long was much more of an abusive asshole than he anticipated.
sonic ends up befriending eclipse and rouge, and obviously slow burn sonadow as well. they all agree doom needs to die, but shadow doesnt know if he can bring himself to do it, when being afraid of doom is all hes ever known.
thats pretty much everything solid i have! im really bad at writing endings, but i may work on it!

All right this took me. ALL DAY. To color. And it’s not even that impressive (to me anyways) BUT, at long last- the Dark Orca Pirates in my crossover AU.
Tumblr media
The Dark Orca is a mighty pirate ship, heralded from generation after generation of pirates roaming the seas. The ships current owners are the family of Captain Hammerhead, and his children. The Dark Orca and her crew spend most of their time at sea, searching for unsuspecting traders or fishermen out at sea, plundering them of their goods, or raiding the various sunken ships or forgotten temples that they find of their treasures. Sometimes, they even tackle the various tidal class dragons that emerge from the depths to poke around the ship. The Dark Orca was once an old armada ship, its size and military might on par with that of the Grimborn brother’s strongest ships. The crew that handles the Dark Orca, it’s sheer size and militia prospect, and the foreboding ‘ghost ship’ feel that the Dark Orca has means that most other people tend to leave her and her crew alone. However, the Nekton family with their own similar in scale ship, the Aronnax, aren’t above tussling with the Dark Orca’s pirates, especially if there’s a dragon or treasure of their ancestry home Lemuria involved. When the Dark Orca isn’t at sea, plundering it and its travelers for their treasures, she can be found at many different markets, from the markets filled with clothing stalls and food markets, to the seedier markets where underhand deals and questionable trades occur, and sometimes even at the markets frequented and run by Dragon Trappers, meant for their business. The Dark Orca’s crew have heard rumors of people riding dragons, though with the cesspool of rumors and gossip that the pirate community is, they’re not sure how genuine these rumors are. Though, with Dragon Trappers being the ones to spread most of the tales, they’re wondering if there’s any merit to the stories.
Captain Hammerhead is the head of the Dark Orca, steering it and his crew in every direction that they go. Every wreck they visit, every ship they plunder, it is all done when Hammerhead says it will be. Hammerhead is the Captain, and everything is done as he says it will be. Hammerhead is like any other pirate, obsessed with all the gold and jewels and treasure that he can get his hands on. Hammerhead however is also determined to live up to the legacy of the ship that he inherited through his father, and his father before him, and as far back as five generations before his grandfather from the Dark Orca’s original captain, Grimbeard the Ghastly himself. The Dark Orca has a fearsome and impressive reputation, and Hammerhead is determined to ensure that legacy lives on. Gold and jewels, artifacts the likes of which no one has seen, maps that entail the most exotic of lands and treasures that not just anyone can get, power and adventures that make an even bigger name of the already legendary ship that he commands. Hammerhead is determined to make sure the Dark Orca’s legend lives on, hoping that his name and that of his children will live on in the Captain’s log and diary that lives in their ships helm, and amongst the tales and legends that circulate the widespread community that the pirate trade is. Recently, Hammerhead has found a rather inconvenient annoyance in the shape of a group of children that have started making their rounds around the markets that he takes their ship to sell goods and plant stories. A group of children seemingly bearing no knowledge of the way things are run in this corner of the world, who buy supplies and other odds and ends through means of trade, using dragon scales from more than one species and more gold and jewels than children seemingly on their own should have as currency. Hammerhead is determined to figure out where these children are getting their dragon scales and jewels, though he is unaware of what exactly he may be getting himself into.
Smiling Finn is Captain Hammerhead’s eldest child. He’s not as interested in the pirate business as the rest of the Dark Orca’s crew, his dad, and his little sister. Finn wants to travel the world, and living on a pirate ship does help ease that passion. All Finn wants to do is snag a ship for himself, even if it’s a small one, and go see the world for himself, no piracy attached. Finn’s dad has named him first mate of the Dark Orca, something that Finn knows is rankling to some of the older crew members. It only makes Finn’s resolve to leave his life of piracy behind even harder, because his dad isn’t super sentimental or anything of the likes, yet he refers to Finn as his first mate with pride and boisterous passion. However, the life of a pirate isn’t all bad. Finn’s desire to see the world is satiated by seeing all the places that the Dark Orca goes, the numerous variety of dragons and the scenery of all the locations they go to incredible. Sure, the dragons they come across are usually attacking the Dark Orca, or his dad is having the crew attack them, and they’re usually stealing treasure from all the crazy places that they go to, but Finn gets to see it all! And he’s usually allowed to roam around the places they go and look at everything, so long as he brings something interesting back with him. And then there’s the Nektons, specifically their only child, a girl named Fontaine. Fontaine is sarcastic and sharp-tongued, always ready with a witty comment. She’s practically at home at the sea, and while Finn is definitely developing a bit of a crush on her that his sister Maddie canNOT know about, Finn’s also finding a friend with common ground and interests with her. Finn tells her all about their adventures, especially about how there’s this group of kids his dad is starting to try and track down, though why, Finn doesn’t know.
Mad Madeline is the youngest pirate on board the Dark Orca, and quite possibly the youngest pirate on board a large-scale pirate ship in pirate history. Madeline lives for being a pirate, she loves plundering for treasure, and testing her skills and their limits at pick-pocketing and stealing things right from under people’s noses. Madeline lives for exploring the seven seas, for braving the watery channels and the raging storms and the fierce dragons that erupt from the depths. She knows Finn’s heart isn’t with piracy and their ship and families legacy, and while she doesn’t understand it she hopes that she herself might one day get to stand at the Dark Orca’s helm and create her own legacy. Madeline listens to her dad and all the other old pirate captains and all their tales of great pirates that ruled the seas. Her favorite is of Grimbeard the Ghastly, who once steered the Dark Orca herself. But Madeline is also interested in more than old pirate stories. She loves to collect stories of ghosts and various legends, mythical creatures and sea monsters from the deepest parts of the oceans. Madeline is obsessed with dragons, specifically the Tidal Class dragons, who are like the sea beasts from the book her mother gave her as a birthday present come to life. She’ll even pretend not to be eavesdropping when the matriarch of the Nekton family tells her daughter something interesting about the dragons that come from the sea. The Nektons are infuriating, but things are always even more exciting when they’re around, and Madeline loves sneaking onto their ship to look at all the cool stuff they’ve found, and then try stealing it. Madeline was the one who first saw the kids trading dragon scales and jewels for expensive leather and clothing and tools, and she’s baffled on why they settled for mundane items such as the things they buy and trade for. She hasn’t told her dad, but she saw them trading jars of green gel, chicken eggs, exotic flowers, and even fish as well to get the items they leave the markets with, though the dragon scales and jewels and gold seemed more important to tell Hammerhead. Madeline can just tell that these kids are hiding something, because why would they be at the markets buying such weird things with such hard-to-find items? She’s determined to be the one to crack the mystery about them, looting them for all they’re worth.
The Dark Orca and the Pirates were fun to figure out and plant within the rest of the story. All the lore of the Dark Orca, and the rest of the pirate community and the Floating Market is gonna be so much fun to flesh. Does anyone else remember how the Dark Orca was made out as some terrifying myth or legend in the first episode they showed up in? And then how they just…weren’t really like that through the rest of the show? It makes sense with the way Hammerhead is in the show, but in my crossover AU? Not happening. The Dark Orca will be the terrifying legend that people who venture out into the open ocean fear and try to prepare against. People steer clear of the Dark Orca when they see her. And the realization some character, important or not, will have that they’re talking to someone that works on that ship? The pirates will be pirates and they will be competent. Though, six kids riding freaking dragons and a family of do-gooder aquanauts will still be an issue for them. But it won’t be so butt-end-of-the-joke with the pirates of the Dark Orca

Exchanging something personal as a keepsake, Marco gets a blade from Ace, who has a few hunting blades for skinning and gutting, they mean alot to him and the one he passes to Marco is wrought from seaking bone and forged himself and sharpened for his purposes, its even in weight and curved wickedly near the end
Sabo’s gift to the phoenix is a pretty piece of embroidered lace, a square large enough to be a sash, a scarf or another other sort of accessory, he had accepted it gracefully but with a wry smile because what good does a seafaring pirate have with such a delicate piece of fabric?
Think of it as a token
Sabo says and its all he has to say, he never mentions just how much it cost to obtain because none of them care about the monetary aspect of worth and the association of it with gifts
So it becomes a game, Marco’s tucking the folded square into Sabo’s breast pocket, its edged with his favourite cologne, a token he replies when Sabo misses his jaw with the clip of his lips inching for a stolen kiss that now he must wait for because hes behind schedule and they both know it
Ace receives it next time, there is a hole in the lace, something he dutifully patches up because hes always been skilled with his hands, small craftwork is easy on his mind and he enjoys the visible progress made on fixing something important to his lovers
He keeps it for a while, tied around his belt and when sabo returns he complains that it smells of grease and gunpowder and nothing like marco at all, liar Ace whispers into the seam of Sabo’s shockingly soft mouth
Sabo doesnt reply, greedily inhaling Ace because he missed him and so Marco receives the square of lace again its seen some better days but its proof that its kept close to the ones he cares the most about
He trades a map, its coded naturally, not that Sabo will have any problem deciphering it, drawn up by Ace specifically in that bold almost illegible scrawl of his that Marco has taken the time to annotate and Sabo doesnt mind because both of them have had a hand in documenting their future movements, they can make time far easier than Sabo so its nice to receive their intentions
Intentions where Ace has another gift on the other half of the grandline because leading Sabo on a treasure hunt is thrilling and he never got to play pirate but seek he does and the x that marks the spot is a cheeky mark splashed across Marco’s chest, the paint smeared over his cheek and nose, brows even from where Ace got frisky and kissed the hell out of the phoenix before leaving him gilded for Sabo to plunder
Its a game, a scrap of lace it means the world to them

So for Nicktoons Re-Unite!, I wanna start the series off with a pilot movie, similar to what Samurai Jack and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends did.
You know, for the readers get a good feel for the characters and their dynamics.
And that movie will be called The Curse of El Pirata del Río!
The movie will see The Nicktoons and their pals heading to The Caribbean in Arnold's world to visit Miles and Stella's old friend Eduardo, who's receiving special award in his honor after discovering ruins of The Green-Eye People throughout the islands.
But unfortunately, this reunion goes south when the gang find themselves attacked and captured by a crew of undead pirates, led by Lasombra (returning from Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie).
In the time since his death, he's gone from a pirate of the river to a pirate of the seas.
And if you couldn't tell already.....he's also undead.
And ever since forming his crew, he's been terrorizing the seas, pillaging and plundering to his heart's content.
However, there are a couple of members who aren't undead.
Two of those being Coco LaBouche (returning from Rugrats in Paris) and Eric Golem Jr. (from Rocket Power: Beach Bandits), who have joined the crew at some point.
The reason for capturing the gang is because Eduardo holds a piece of an ancient map that leads to mysterious legendary artifact known as El Pulpo, which is said to hold untold phenomenal powers.

After nearly 6 years of research and writing, “𝑃𝑖𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝐺ℎ𝑜𝑠𝑡𝑠 & 𝐵𝑢𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑑 𝑇𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑢𝑟𝑒𝑠 𝑜𝘗𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘎𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘴 & 𝘉𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘥 𝘛𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘕𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘊𝘰𝘢𝘴𝘵: 𝘈 𝘏𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘈𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘗𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘍𝘰𝘭𝘬𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘦” is not only complete, but you can pre-order signed copies now by messaging the page!
The book comes in at 343 pages, relaying all pirate folklore along the American shores of Maryland up to Maine. Tales within, consisting of pirate-relevant hauntings and buried treasures, are presented as they are known, and then extrapolated on regarding true pirate history, my own notes on their origins, and those who have sought them out. The book begins largely the same as my first title, the "𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘊𝘰𝘢𝘴𝘵," exploring the history of pirates and their associations with buried treasure and the undead, before delving into the mysteries of New England superstitions and William Kidd!
Every pre-order also comes with a color-printed slip on period-appropriate laid paper of a 1700 period pamphlet cover titled “𝘚𝘢𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘮𝘶𝘴 𝘛𝘳𝘪𝘶𝘮𝘱𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘴, 𝘰𝘳, 𝘍𝘶𝘭𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘌𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘈𝘱𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 : 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘸𝘰 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘴 : 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘦𝘹𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦.” by Joseph Glanvil. This book, originally printed prior in 1681, heavily influenced puritan clergyman Cotton Mather regarding the 1692 Salem Witch Trials and his own publications, and is mentioned by name within the fictional short story “𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘭” by Rhode Island horror author H.P. Lovecraft.

PLUNDER EDITION PRE-ORDER PACKAGE: $65 + $5 Shipping (within US), message to place an order.
As a surprise for you all, for those interested, a deluxe pre-order package exists as well! In addition to your signed copy of Northeast Coast and your pamphlet cover, you will also receive the following plunder!
1x 9”x12” Aged map on laid paper of Fishers Island, New York. This particular island has a sizeable entry within the book’s chapter on New York, with numerous claims of buried treasure and ghost ships. This map is a more modern recreation of a 19th century map of the isle with many interesting locations noted, two of which are alleged “treasure sites” mentioned in the book’s entry. Note that this map will come tri-folded in your package.
1x 5.5”x8” Aged Wanted Poster on laid paper for Captain William Kidd. This poster, stylized after those within the movie Cutthroat Island, and utilizing a woodcut-style depiction of Kidd burying his Bible (turning his back on an honest life), is imagined as if issued by Governor Richard Coote, Lord Bellomont, who historically was responsible for Kidd’s capture. His name will come up a lot in the book - with this Wanted Poster you can look at his name one more time.
1x .999 Pure Silver Pine Tree Shilling. Through collaboration with The Black Spot Guild - shop in New Hampshire, included in your package will be one hand-struck silver shilling. These coins are of particular importance regarding the Northeast Coast’s colonial history, as one of the first types of coins ever struck in the American Colonies, minted in Boston, Massachusetts in 1652. This coin, however, features the date of 1692, noting the year of the Salem Witch Trials, which come up time and again within the book. The pine tree is depicted upon them as the New England area provided many pines, which were straight and tall - prime material as ship’s masts. One side reads "In Masathvsets," the other "New England An Dom."

I am accepting payments of Zelle, PayPal, and Venmo. Please reach out stating your preferred payment option, state if you’d like the Plunder Package, and how you would like your book/s signed - either just the Author Signature or if you would like it to be addressed to a particular name/crew, or otherwise personalized message.
Please understand that I will be addressing messages as timely as possible, there will be enough books for all, and I will honor the timestamp of messages in order for the limited supply of Plunder Packages.
Those who place pre-orders within this first week will likely receive their copies before the actual Release Date of the book. I kindly ask that if you have a chance to reasonably check out the book before that date, and are comfortable doing so: Please leave a review of the book, if you will, on Amazon's listing the day it goes live - September 18th. Round 2 Part 2 Poll 3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda
Lucius started out as a spoiled, naive daddy's boy, but after stepping up as captain of his own airship, The Stormchaser, he really grew as a person and found his confidence. Also he's fabulous and can draw magic power from colours.

I guess Knuckles views Captain Plunder more favourably than I realised, since the next part of this story opens with him having not only taken him to the Emerald Chamber, but piloting the island towards the ghost ship Plunder mentioned
Oh yeah, if you’re just seeing this without context then, yes, the Floating Island can be piloted in StC. He can just straight up fly this thing around. It’s very cool and funny
Tumblr media
Anyway, here it is: The Ghost Ship of Tantaragor. I’m not sure if there’s any reason tat Plunder specifically wants to find it beyond “treasure”, but the last ghost he employed has worked out so well for him that maybe he’s looking for more?
Tumblr media
Ohhh, so that’s why Knuckles is helping him!
Tumblr media
Y’know, as much as this could be added to the “Knuckles being gullible” pile, I actually assume Plunder’s being honest here. Back in that Sandopolis story, he did come to the Floating Island because he’d had some old maps that he’d previously assumed were fake until it became public knowledge that there really was as Floating Island. And he was talking to his crew, not Knuckles, back then, so he had no reason to lie Ofc he could be fabricating these other maps to get Knuckles on side now. I guess we’ll see. I’m inclined to believe him, but maybe I’m gullible too
Tumblr media
The pirates board the ghost ship and they didn’t even ask Knuckles to come along with them, but he decides to tag along anyway. We do know that Knuckles secretly yearns for adventure (sidenote: I just recently read the IDW Sonic 2024 annual and the Knuckles story in that is cute - would recommend)
Tumblr media
Yeah, I’m sure absolutely nothing will go wrong with stealing this
Tumblr media
We end this part on the reveal that maaaybe Plunder should’ve mentioned these guys to Knuckles. Also, is that Emerald Hill folk they’ve got there?

Audience between Emperor and Vampire. (I don't even remember, when I did it. It got lost and found. xd)
Regis focused on the massive gold ring, listening to his thoughts. With Emhyr, they were not loud and colorful, like Dandelion's, or moderately restrained, grumbling, like Geralt's. Rather disciplined burdening, eruditely placed. Sharp as the rays of the golden sun on banners. He needed to focus on that particular stone, determining its significance, its scientific name, and the iridescence of incident light as the Emperor's fingers slid across the map. The audience moved into the category of joint negotiations on trade routes. "The land routes have been virtually smoothed over, despite problematic uprisings by rebellious minorities and attempts at plundering trade waters." "Your Imperial Majesty is really interested in my opinion on the political sphere?" "Speak up. I'm always interested in an opinion from the outside, outside the competence of my advisers on politically important issues." "Well, let me…" Emiel leans over the table, careful not to hit the pieces on it, not to knock them out of place. "I guess there will be no problems with Queen Cerys. She is more loyal and does not seek war. Given the right amount of time, you might be humane enough to build trade routes across the sea." "Yes, Cerys strives for neutrality and peace. My advisers offered to once again go to war on the territory of Ard Skellige, but I considered it reckless to touch neutral waters. When it came to Cirilla, I had no choice but to pay a visit to their domain." "No one likes having pirates in the sea, Your Majesty. I think you should form an alliance with her that will lead you both to the desired result. Trade points and an alliance will be a great resonance for the occupied territories and perhaps you can get along with them relationship." " You're for humanism, Regis. I understand and respect this. But you are well aware that my enemies have a much less positive opinion of me in matters of conquest and striving to overthrow the current position of my heritage. I always expect a stab in the back. And it is unlikely that an uncontrolled part or one standing on the threshold of my borders will be happy with peace with Nilfgaard." "I know, that humanism cannot be achieved in everything. But sometimes, people do not even try to go this way. It is for them impossibly complicated." "The fragility of this design must be supported by two opponents, as you know. Or several. In any case, you only confirmed what I doubted." "At your service, Your Majesty." "Have you thought about my offer?" "Becoming a court physician is quite generous of you." "There is one more thing - as a friend of Geralt - you could help Cirilla. She needs someone she knows, someone from the world that she knew before the legacy that came into force." “Do I still have time to think, Your Imperial Majesty?” " Very little. " "Then I will take it from you. Thank you for the audience."
