“I’m gonna marry you one day.”
@seasidewriter1 - So this prompt was asked with 10 - “I’m going to marry you one day” and ended up involving 1, 2, 35, 46, 47, 63, and 64. I may have taken a page out of your book and gone a little overboard (it ended up being over 2k), but I doubt you’ll care. lol. I hope you enjoy!
Adali supposed it wasn’t exactly how she ever thought it would happen, but then again, when did life ever really go her way? Not that this was necessarily a bad thing in this case, but it was surely unexpected and that was hard to do with the Master Jedi. Though, again she supposed, Poe Dameron did always seem to find a way to surprise her and keep things interesting. There was never a dull moment with Poe around.
It had been years since Poe had extracted Adali off of Coruscant on General Organa’s orders and after a slightly rocky relationship in the beginning, as Poe definitely did not trust Adali as a newcomer, and Adali didn’t trust anyone for that matter. But the two slowly grew on one another like a fungus. And, to both their surprise, it seemed that Adali and Poe had become the best of friends in that time.
They were growing into something much more than just best friends too, though Adali was hesitant and petrified to admit so. She did recall, however, that her mother had said this: “The strongest marriages are formed when you marry your best friend.” Now, there certainly wasn’t any talk of marriage at this point. The two hadn’t even admitted their affections for one another. They had started flirtations and that was where the two humans stood.
It had been a hard day not in terms of danger, but in strenuous work loads. Adali had spent the early morning hours before the sun had arisen over the horizon getting ahead on her work orders before the rest of the day was spent training Rey in the humid jungle of Yavin 4. Poe Dameron had spent his day training up the new Red Squadron of x-wing pilots. The two hadn’t run into one another until Poe found Adali resting under a tree with her carving materials in hand while enjoying the orange hue of the sunset.
Poe had leaned against a nearby tree watching the young woman until the sun was nearly completely hidden over the horizon. The warm dimming light made Adali’s blue eyes almost look purple, and her hair (which was down for once instead of pulled back in some elaborate braid Poe didn’t know how to manage), looked shiny and almost strawberry blonde instead of dirty blonde.
He would’ve been blind not to notice how absolutely stunning she looked in that moment. Not that she wasn’t always beautiful, he found, but in that moment he found it harder to breathe and his chest a fraction tighter than normal when he found himself lost gazing at the young woman. The thought of someday losing the chance to bask in her warm air, which she most likey would’ve said was her Force signature, was nearly debilitating for him to think about.
Someday the war with the First Order would be over, and he would follow General Organa or return to the New Republic and continue to fly. Or maybe he would take a page out of his father’s book and retire there to Yavin 4. It hadn’t been what he wanted as a child, but he’d seen so much death and destruction for one lifetime. As long as he could still fly, Poe didn’t really care where he went.
But Adali would most likely try to reopen the Jedi Temple to train future Jedi. Or, as Poe refused to think, would be dead by the hands of her cousin. There were even chances for either outcome, and the more favorable one still left Poe wondering if he’d ever get to see the young woman again. It was something he didn’t like to think about, and he tried not to accept that it was there. But if there was something he could do about it, he definitely would.
Adali was one of the kindest people he’d ever known despite all of the horrors that had been done to her, and everything she’d been forced to do with the war invading into every aspect of their lives. She always went out of her way to make others feel better and to help solve their problems before ever trying to fix her own even if it put her in a bad place mentally, or physically. She’d arrived from Coruscant in a very bad way, but it was cleaner now, especially to Poe as he looked at her whenever she wasn’t looking, that she was still troubled, but she was much happier than she’d arrived. That sweet girl that smiled with her eyes, and loved with ever fiber of her being was not afraid to stick up for those unable to do so for themselves, and she definitely wasn’t afraid to put people (namely Poe) in their place when they stepped out of line.
“Are you going to just stand there all night, or are you going to join me?” Adali asked without looking up from her carving. It looked like she was carving some sort of blossom, but he was no expert on plant life.
“Sometimes it still freaks me out how you do that,” Poe admitted as he made his way over to join her under the tree to enjoy the rest of the evening in the hot jungle.
“It didn’t freak you out when I was able to find you on Jakku,” Adali pointed out, glancing up through her lashes with a coy smirk on her lips before going back to her work. The Force Bond that had somehow managed to connect them together despite Poe’s lack of Force Sensitivity had perplexed them for quite some time after they’d discovered it, but it was far easier to handle now. “Nor do you seem to complain when you drew me into your dreams and tried to have s-”
Poe cleared his throat and rubbed the back of his neck as he interrupted the woman. “Yeah, still don’t know why you went along with those,” Poe muttered, though not regretting where his dreams often took him. After all, his dreams just gave him what he wished he had in the real world.
“I was just as confused as you were,” Adali said. “But it’s perfectly natural to dream about such things, I’m told. Dreams are perfectly normal.”
“Except for Jedi.”
“Except for Jedi,” Adali agreed.
“What else is unusual for a Jedi to do?” Poe asked.
“Depends on when you’re asking,” Adali clarified. “Are you talking about the Old Republic when the Jedi Council existed, or do you mean now with only me and Rey actively living and practicing as Jedi?”
“Let’s go with the first one?”
Adali just chuckled at his hesitance to pick. “Well, Jedi weren’t allowed to form attachments, but it was expected of us to have compassion for all living things. Relations weren’t forbidden, but many refrained from them as relations often would lead to emotions and attachment. It just made things too complicated.”
“What about now?” Poe asked. “I mean, your dad married your mother, and Leia had Han. Where do you stand?”
“Emotions and attachment are perfectly natural and normal for anybody,” Adali said. “The issue that the old ways did not understand was that fear and loss, anger, depression, and all other negative emotions are also natural. Everyone, not just Jedi, had to work through them and learn to deal with them in healthy ways. Just because you can have one doesn’t mean you’ll always have the other, but sometimes it does and that’s normal. We have to accept that pain and loss is as much a part of life as love and hope and pleasure.”
“So if you were to, I don’t know, fall in love, then you’d be willing to get married and have the whole family experience?” Poe asked.
Love. Love. Love was an emotion that was not a stranger to Adali. She supposed she may have felt too much and too deeply, but she wouldn't have it any other way. She would not change herself because love was the best feeling of all. Love was happiness, serenity, peace, and joy. All she felt she needed ever was love.
But at the same time, love still caused her grief. She loved her family, and though they were falling apart, she still loved them which many didn’t understand. Kylo Ren wasn’t just Kylo Ren, he was Ben Solo, the sweet boy that used to laugh and play with her in the flowering fields and place Force Ball with. And it wasn't just familial love either.
Romantic love was tricky. Often she found herself stammering, flustered, and utterly confused on what was going on or how she felt with the man sitting beside her. These questions were not exempt from this either. When inquiring of it personally towards her, Adali’s heart skipped a beat, and the fluttering in the pit of her stomach seemed to nauseate her. The man always threw her curveballs and she wasn’t sure how to deal with those emotions.
Usually the casual flirtations they’d fallen into were something she could easily handle now. In the beginning, however, that was a very different story. But now, she looked forward to their playful banters and sweet words. Just the thought of the man and his warm brown eyes and his goofy smile warmed her, and brought a smile to her lips. But when things got more serious, like with the question he was asking her now, Adali didn’t know what to think. Was he being serious? Was he asking for himself? Was this all just friendly and innocent, or was Poe actually interested in her. Poe was a flirt and had a reputation, but she knew he’d never intentionally hurt her. But where they really stood with one another, Adali didn’t know.
“I would,” Adali finally admitted after a long while of silence. “A husband, kids, maybe some animals around for them to play with and teach responsibility. At least two,” Adali went on to clarify. “I want my kids to have a sibling like I had with Ben. Nobody should feel alone growing up.”
“Yeah, I would’ve liked a sibling to grow up with,” Poe admitted. “Two is a good number, to start and if we decide more than all the better.”
“We?” Adali squeaked and gaped, her carving tool slipping to jab into the metal finger on her left hand. Thankfully the prosthetic was more durable and was simple scratched ever so slightly. Nothing that couldn’t just be buffed out.
“Yes, we,” Poe said, smirking at how adorable Adali looked when she was utterly flushed in the cheeks. “I’m going to marry you one day.”
“Oh, you sound very sure of this!” Adali huffed. His casual tone was hard to figure out. Either he really did believe this and was casual because he knew he’d make it happen, or because he was joking and that option did not please her one bit.
“I am. You know we’re meant to be,” he declared.
“Poe, we’re not even dating! How could you possibly know th-”
“What, you’ve never thought about us?” Poe retorted, reaching over to stop her from working more. If she was going to keep using that sharp tool with how distracted she was, she was going to end up nicking her flesh and dealing with blood right now wasn’t what he wanted. Plus, by doing this he could hold her hand, something that never happened quite enough for his taste.
“What us?” Adali asked. “Poe, you’re my friend, and sure, we may flirt some but-
“Then why is your hand sweating so much?” Poe interrupted.
This is nothing to aid in rectifying her flustered self. Pulling her hands away, Adali rubbed them against her pants in an attempt to dry them. “It’s hot and humid and we’re in a jungle, I was working so of course my hands would be sweaty! Give me one good reason. Why should we date?”
“Because we’re attracted to each other,” Poe said.
Now that was hard to deny, at least on Adali’s part. While the orange and white jumpsuits the pilots wore were highly attractive, that didn’t mean Poe was. She’d seen him on many occasions in nothing more than his underthings thanks to those forsaken dreams they shared, and the man, despite not working out, was incredibly toned and tan. It had to be all those hours of picking up and working with BB-8, she assumed. But it should’ve been illegal just how delicious that man looked.
“That’s not how you build a lasting, healthy relationship, Poe,” Adali sighed.
“How about this? You’re my best friend,” Poe said. “And just seeing you makes my heart flutter, and thinking about you makes me smile. The thought of losing you scares me more than I’ll ever admit to anybody else. And I’m not just talking about losing you in this war…”
Now those words hadn’t been expected. Those words ruined her insides, and caused her breath to catch in her throat painfully. With much caution, Adali looked up into his warm eyes as the sky really started to turn dark. The sun was gone and the beautiful colors of the temporary painting in the sky was now just a memory, but somehow that just made his words ring more true. It wasn’t just some temporary, flowery thing to say to someone to flirt with. This wasn’t just some casual, playful thing.
His words were close to the definition she had in her own heart for love. Subconsciously Adali’s flesh hand moved to her prosthetic and fiddled with the wedding ring that had belonged to her mother. She’d have to replace it with something else, something that was hanging around Poe’s neck if this were true. But while she could simply move that ring to another finger, the fact that there would still be something so meaningful there in it’s place, like how her mother and father never took their rings off until their deaths, meant so much to Adali. More than she could’ve ever put into words.
“Tell me again,” Adali whispered.
“I’m going to marry you someday,” he repeated, his eyes never leaving her’s, his face serious without a trace of a smile which just pushed his point further. “I am going to marry you.”

Carrying On - Regency!AU Part 1: The Porcelain Princess
Here is the first installment of many to come of my Regency!AU for Carrying On, a Star Wars Poe Dameron/OC story.
Description: Poe Dameron hears rumors of the Porcelain Princess, Princess Ami Norin Skywalker.
High society events were only good for two things, Poe Dameron found. Firstly, though the servings were incredibly small, the food was always devine. After eating whatever he could get around town, or from the grool the cooks upon the ships would somehow concoct (he was still hard pressed to admit that it was created from entirely edible ingredients), the food was absolutely heavenly. The sustenance alone was worth all the formalities of socializing. Usually.
Secondly, though he’d most likely only admit this to his male compatriots, were the beautiful women. It was no secret that Poe Dameron took a strong liking to female company. It would’ve been a tad bit harsh to say he was a rogue, but a rake was a smidge more accurate. He was no stranger to the minglings that transpired between a man and a woman in the solitude of a bedroom. But never would he completely dishonor a woman in such a way to leave her in a bad way because of his involvement with them.
Even if he was not accompanied home with a divine woman to warm his bed that evening, he relished in the banter and the double meaning behind hushed flirtations. Gossip around his name was not uncommon, nor was it something he cared about in the least. Poe Dameron had far more important things to focus on than whispers of his immoral misdeeds. The only gossip he typically listened to were the words on a woman that he may have success taking home.
This was not the only thing that Captain Dameron cared about, but when one was in charge of the lives of many men, and the outrageous price of the naval convoy of the Naboo Royal Naval Fleet, as well as risking his own life for the safety of every man, woman, and child back on dry land, indulging in fornication and delectable foods to release his stress and remind him why life was worth fighting for was simple something he allowed himself the immense pleasure of having.
Upon the invitation of a compatriot, Prince Ben Solo, though he took more pride in his rank of Captain in the army, had extended an invite of his friend to his cousin’s “Coming Out” Ball for her eighteenth birthday. A bit late in terms of a young woman coming out into society as an eligible woman to marry, but considering her status of Princess, and since she was second in line for the throne of Naboo, second only to her father, Luke Skywalker, it was far more “acceptable” for it to be a bit later.
But Poe couldn’t help suspect that the reason they had delayed Princess Ami’s introduction into society was for other reasons than the excuse of allowing her to further pursue her education. If the Princess resembled Prince Ben in appearance at all, Poe thought, she’d be a rather homely looking woman. With hair so dark that it made his pale skin seem almost translucent, with a nose and lips far too big for his face, feminine cheekbones too high and rather small, and with dark eyes, Poe always thought that if Ben wasn’t a prince, he wouldn’t have gotten as much attention from women as he did. Not that he was ever too interested in the attention. He’d always been hopelessly in love with his cousin’s lady’s maid. It was the woman he’d married, and was currently expecting their second child with.
While the attention from the female variety was a perk, Poe suspected he’d hate the attention and expectations that came because of the title. There was always a need to behave and think about other’s well being before their own, as well as duty to the country. While he did have a strong sense of duty, and he did well with the pressures of a naval officer, having to act like a societal gentleman at all times sounded exhausting.
“You are positively certain she resembles Captain Solo none?” Poe inquired on the carriage ride to the palace with fellow Captain Temmin “Snap” Wexley and his lovely, mouthy wife Karé Kun-Wexley.
“Yes, Captain Dameron,” Karé answered, though it was clear that she was getting tired of answering his question despite the fact that she’d been the one to bring up the topic of the Princess. “Princess Ami is petite, fair skinned, blue eyed, and blonde. They do not refer to her as the Porcelain Princess without due cause.”
“The Porcelain Princess?” Poe inquired. “Why would anybody wish to be called this?”
“There is no doubt the dear girl is privy to the disagreeable pet name,” Karé said. “Though, one would be mad if they were to dare say so to her face. It would be hard pressed to say she would ever respond to such childishness. Ever the portrait of perfection.” The implication of that the young woman was always polite sounded so taxing to Poe. “Forever painted smiling and feigning interest, never straying or addressing what is considered inappropriate to a lady. It is no question she is called as such, for she is the perfect porcelain doll.
“Appearances can be quite deceiving,” Poe insisted. “There must be some deep, ominous secret hiding behind that painted façade.”
“Be that the case, it is quite unlikely we should know,” Snap said. “I doubt Captain Solo would allow for such a man as yourself proximity to his dearest cousin, with the exception of a customary introduction. You are, after all, a personal guest to the Princes.”
“You doubt the Porcelain Princess would find my company enjoyable?” Poe chuckled, knowing very well what Snap was saying. No princess would be associated with a rake such as himself. “Perhaps it is best to let the dear woman decide such a thing for herself?”
Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed! You can read Part 2: Rumors of the Rake here

I’ve been meaning to send this in for a few days but my mind ran away from me—I’d love to see something with Poe and Adali with: “It’s nice that your voice was the first thing I heard today.”
My mind immediately jumped to your Aladdin!AU, for this one, but I’ll love any setting! ☺️
I managed to make this one shorter than your last ask, but I’m sure I could’ve kept going on and on with it. It’s just so soft and fluffy. I really adore this AU. I hope you enjoy!
“Its nice that your voice is the first thing I heard today.”
Whoever has said “Life was a journey, not a destination” surely had the right idea, but the fact that the journey could’ve been hard and emotional clearly meant they didn’t want to dissuade anybody from taking the hard paths in life. There should’ve been a large disclaimer attached to life warning of side effects such as, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, heartbreak, diarrhea, nausea, and shortness of breath with the added benefits of joy, happiness, laughter, and love.
But, despite all of the issues that had occurred in the most recent months, the path Ami had gone down was one she’d trek over and over again if it led her to this spot. Not only was the city nation of Ahch-to prospering with new trade treaties, lower rates of unemployment, and lower numbers of people hungry and homeless, but it was all under Ami’s new rule of Sultan after her father passed the duties down to her.
While her people were happier, Ami also found she was in the same boat as them. She was finally making the difference she always wished to. Her father was happily retired, remaining there on the premises to advise his daughter with far less stress and could focus on his own health. Ben was back to normal and pursuing a relationship with the scavenger from outside town that Poe had met after Ben nearly killed him (but that was not the point here).
And Poe…
Poe and Ami had gotten married not too long after the ordeal with Vizier Ben, and the magic genie, Yoda. Yoda had decided to take his leave to retire peacefully somewhere, but Poe remained despite nearly succeeding in leaving back to Yavin without Ami’s knowledge before she could attempt to reach out to him. But now, reconnected, the two were married and running Ahch-To together with the kindest, most prosperous rule the city nation had seen in a decade.
It was where Ami found herself, dressed only in her thin dressing gown at the heatwave made it nearly impossible to keep cool in the late morning. She smiled softly and onto the bed next to the tousled Yavinian fast asleep due to their late night activities.
“Breakfast will go to waste if you don’t get us, dear,” the woman murmured softly as she leaned down to whisper the words into his ear. Her hand rested on his chest, while the other supported herself beside him, sinking into the plush surface. Her soft lips brushed against the soft, slightly stubbled skin at the junction where his jaw transitioned to the skin under his ear. “We can’t stay in bed all day.”
Poe released a groan as he slowly exhaled, but he remained still for several long moments before he opened his eyes. It was clear he wasn’t asleep, but just refused to get up from the comfort of their bed. His warm eyes bore into hers before slowly making their way down to the sheer material she wore only in his presence. His lips formed a smirk, his thoughts clearly displayed in his expression.
“You no longer live on the streets, dear. Please remove your mind from the gutter,” Ami chuckled, but decided to recline onto the bed using Poe’s chest as her own personal pillow.
“It’s hard to stop myself when you look as ravishing as you do,” Poe defended. “But, I suppose I could be persuaded to get up. Doesn’t exactly look as though you’re ready to leave our confines either though.”
“You looked too comfortable to refuse,” Ami hummed, nuzzling her face into his neck.
“Since when have you ever been able to resist me?” Poe retorted.
“Me resist you? I think you have it all wrong, dearest. It was you that could not refuse me,” Ami corrected.
Poe just hummed in reply. It ended the playful banter between the newlyweds as they severed their moment of peace together while they could before they were pulled away to run the kingdom. “It’s nice that your voice was the first thing I heard today,” Poe murmured. He lazily turned his head to face his wife and smiled tenderly. “There’s no better way to wake up than to have you here with me.”
Ami smiled and leaned up to place a sweet kiss upon his cheek. “I wouldn’t have it any other way either,” she assured him. “I love you, Poe.”
“And I love you too, Princess.”

“What the heck was that?”
“A spin? I just turned us around!”
“What kind of maneuver did you think you were trying to pull? You almost crashed us into that building!”
“But I didn’t!” Adali pointed out. “It’s just a little trick I picked up from my grandfather!”
“Your grandfather should have his license revoked.”
“I’ll be sure to tell him.”

Carrying On - Regency!AU Part 6 - An Uncommon Sight
A Poe Dameron/OC story.
When it came to the mornings after a ball, it was very typical for nothing to start until far later in the day than it would otherwise. Very typically, nobility tended to sleep into the late morning, and retire later than the average working person. It was a luxury that they could afford, while others did not. In this instance, however, Poe was extremely grateful for he’d had a bit too much wine the evening before, and had rested his throbbing head into the late morning.
After a large, fatty breakfast, Poe made his way to the palace for his meeting with the Prince, and several other high ranking military officials. While the invitation to the ball last night had been received in advantage to this scheduled meeting, the only reason for attending Poe could make was the fact that it was conveniently coinciding with his trip to the capital for this meeting. While the perks he enjoyed, it was hard for him to make a reasonable excuse to travel so far for one ball when there were far more pressing matters to attend to as a naval captain.
Upon arriving, Poe discovered he was the first to arrive. Prince Ben had come formally dressed to greet him after he’d been informed by a footman of his arrival. While prestinely dressed, it was clear that he hadn’t slept too well. He’d seen the man fatigued so many times before that it was just as easily noticeable as the metals donned on his jacket.
“Hello, my friend,” Ben greeted. “Thank you for coming. I do believe we will get much done today.”
“I do hope so, too,” Poe answered. “The sooner we end this war, the better.”
“I couldn’t agree more,” Ben said. “Shall we head into the library to wait for the other’s? I can have some tea made and brought in with biscuits.”
“That sounds nice, thank you,” Poe said.
The library was on the first floor in the west wing. Poe had to admit that he’d never really been much for reading, but he did quite enjoy a good story if one was willing to tell him. His attention always seemed to stray from the pages when he attempted to read.
Prince Ben made his way to the desk closes to the set of double doors they’d entered through, and was looking over some papers while Poe made his way to the other side of the room to take a seat on a sofa to wait for their refreshments to arrive, but as he rounded and his eyes peered over the top of the back. His brow knitted together as he studied the figure semi-reclined on the piece of furniture.
Princess Ami Norin Skywalker was asleep on the floral sofa with an open book left open on her lap, one hand draped over the top of the pages while the other had slipped to the top of the cushion beside her. She was no longer dressed in that exquisite formal dress she’d draped herself in the night before, but was in a very simple blue corset dress with very little fine or elegant detailing. If he didn’t know any better, he would’ve mistaken her for a commoner; a maid out of uniform. She had no gloves, and her shoes were simple slippers.
Her blonde hair was wavy and half down, with the sides pulled back so not to fall in her face as she read. Her makeup, if she were wearing any at all (he couldn’t tell), was so very minimal and natural. This was definitely not the Porcelain Princess he’s met and challenged the evening before. While it was clear she was still such a natural beauty, he no longer looked like a painted doll on display for all to see. She actually looked comfortable.
It helped that the fake smile she plastered on was significantly lacking. She did not look bored, or pained. This woman looked soft, calm, and so peaceful that the thought of having to wake her was something Poe dreaded. He stood there longer than he should’ve, he knew, for polite society as he watched her sleep. But the young woman before him was far more appealing and intriguing to him than the one he’d accompanied briefly the evening before. This woman that would one day be responsible for all the lives of the citizens of her country looked like an actual human being.
Ami looked so very pretty.
Poe smiled and watched her one last, long moment to take in the sight and imbed it into his memory to cherish for he knew this would not be something he would come upon again. He cautiously walked back over to the other side of the room and addressed his Prince. “Pardon me, my Prince, but it would seem we have a guest,” Poe finally spoke up.
“Pardon?” Ben asked, looking up from the desktop.
“Your dear cousin seems to have fallen asleep while reading,” Poe clarified, turning to nod his head to the sofa across the room.
“Rin?” Ben asked, his brow furrowing. “Dear me, my apologies. When we returned last night we found that our wetnurse had fallen ill, so to let me rest for this meeting, and to let Rey rest for obvious reasons, Princess Ami volunteered to stay up with Ren. He simply refused to sleep last night, and only went down an hour ago. I believe this is her first shut-eye since she awoke yesterday morning.”
That was an interesting little story, Poe found. It wasn't exactly what he’d think a royal would do. He’d heard stories of how there were armies of wet nurses and governesses to take care of, and raise the children of the household so the parents would not have to be bothered with them. While he knew that the Skywalker line was very different - their marriages were evidence of this alone - he had not expected the Porcelain Princess to have a fondness of children.
“I take it your son is very fond of her?” Poe inquired as they made their way across the room.
“Oh yes,” Ben said, “she’s always playing with him. I swear she’s with him more than the staff is. Not that I’ll complain. It does them both good. She will be a wonderful mother someday.”
A side he couldn’t imagine in the rather strict looking woman. But then again, he’s managed to get some reactions and expressions from her last evening that nobody else had managed to. So there could’ve very well been sides to her that he did not know, nor could picture. Not that the news was bad, though. It was nice to hear that there was a soft, relatable side to the woman that seemed almost otherworldly.
“Do you wish for children?” Ben asked as he picked the book off her lap carefully to place the bookmark in.
“I shall admit I have thought little other than bringing this war to a close,” Poe admitted honestly. “Perhaps once things settle down, I may contemplate the notion of doing so myself.”
“Ah yes,” Ben said. “Rin, dear, you must wake up. We have company arriving. Rin?”
Ami’s brow furrow briefly as her closed eyes squeezed tighter. She made the smallest of noises as she awoke, her eyes fluttering open with evidence of sleepiness still present. “Ben?” she mumbled softly, sitting up a bit. Her back straightened and popped from the awkward position she’d fallen asleep in. “What time is it?”
“Mid-afternoon, cousin,” Ben answered. “My meeting is to begin shortly. Perhaps it is best for you to retire after the long evening.”
Ami took in a deep breath and slowly let it out, as if doing so helped wake her up some. She stood slowly, more joints popping on their own before she turned and nearly ran right into Captain Dameron. Her eyes shot wider, her mouth agape. His presence had shocked her, and it was clear on her expression. It lingered longer than it had last night with his topics of conversation. It may have been due to her lack of sleep.
“C-Captain Dameron,” she greeted, curtsying quickly before her eyes fell to her dress, and her face flushing. It was clear that people outside of her immediate family and the staff never saw her in such informal attire or state. Poe smirked for he felt rather privileged to have managed to catch such an informal sight of the princess. “M-My apologies for the intrusion and my current state.”
“It is a pleasure, as always, my Princess,” Poe greeted, bowing respectfully, eyes never leaving her face. “I do hope you find some much needed rest.” Ami cleared her throat, her eyes shifting from her cousin, to Poe, and her ungloved hands. “Yes, thank you,” Ami said quickly. Her blush still had not diminished whatsoever. “If you’ll excuse me…”
“But of course,” Poe said. “Good day, Princess.”
“Good day, Captain Dameron,” Ami said back sweetly, her smile polite, but her eyes softer than they’d been the evening before.
Well, Poe thought, his eyes watching after the woman as she left the room. This certainly made my day.

Carrying On - Regency!AU Part 2: Rumors of the Rake
A Poe Dameron/OC Story.
Description: In which Ami and Rey relax and chat before the event that evening in Ami’s Honor.
While Ami had been her cousin’s best friend in childhood, in adulthood it could be disputed on who held the title. Rey, of course, was his wife so clearly there was attraction and an enjoyable relationship while in one another’s presence. Ami was still ever present in Prince Ben Solo’s life, but there were technically some things that would be considered inappropriate for them to do and discuss. This, however, did not stop them from attempting to push the boundaries of the norm while the two found themselves alone.
But there were times when Ami was not around. This, of course, primarily consisted of when Ben was out performing his military duties as a Captain in the army. This was where Ben Solo became acquainted with Poe Dameron, Captain in the navy. When Rey had informed Ami that the man would be in attendance that evening for the gathering in her honor, it left her rather surprised.
Ben was rather keen on leaving his military duties and royal obligations separate unless it involved the attendance of high ranking military officials. This was not such an occasion.
“You needn’t worry yourself, Princess,” Rey insisted, relaxing with her feet elevated on the sofa in the women’s parlor room. Her ankles were already swelling and she hadn’t even been on her feet for the party yet. The joys of the effects of pregnancy, Ami supposed, as she bounced the nearly one year old Ren on her lap, making silly faces at him while he giggled in response.
“Ami,” Ami insisted. “Tis simply us, Rey. It would make me very happy for you to address me as Ami. You are my sister now.”
It was a hard habit for the former maid to break, but the warm welcome into the family had been so pleasant that she really wanted to try to change. Ami had always been very good to Rey, never treating her as the help. They discussed feelings, social ongoings, and their hopes and dreams with one another even before there was the discussion of Ben proposing marriage. Ami had been her friend, and now her sister and godmother to her son that just adored the future queen.
“My apologies, Ami,” Rey said, but didn’t wait for Ami to insist there was no harm done. Rey continued, “Ben assures me that, though Captain Dameron’s reputation with women may be questionable, his character is just. You will not find a better man to serve our country than he.”
“Perhaps he deserved the benefit of doubt, then,” Ami murmured as Ren pulled on one of her blonde waves. “There is no greater honor than to lay down one’s life for the sake of the greater good as long as it is simply not for glory.”
“I cannot speak on this, but I do hear he is quite handsome,” Rey stated. “Even if he is truly an undignified rake, at last he shall be pleasing to the eye while we suffer through the intolerable mundane conversations that await us tonight.”
“I do suppose this is true,” Ami laughed, smiling down at the baby. “But nobody is as handsome as you, Reny. No, absolutely nobody. Nobody,” Ami gushed and giggled as her sweet tones soothed and pleased the baby into fits of giggles.
