For the love of God I hope the gen 10 starters don't stand up on two feet again. I don't mind furry bait but I want cool monster creature things like Skeledurge and Venesaur and Swampert.
$20 says the gen 10 water starter stands up tho

Heads up for Pokemon fans that don't want to know shit about nothing: There's apparently been a hack at Game Freak where leakers "allegedly" got about 1tb worth of data. This is not a post to spoil you, this is a post warning you so you can update your filters and stuff.
The type of stuff allegedly includes source codes for gens 4 and 5 games (I'm seeing HGSS and BW2 mentioned, good for preservation at least), code names for gen 10 (which are largely useless if we look at past games, being fair), and some other unannounced stuff.
Among this information is apparently a build for ZA- apparently they don't want to show this information last I saw, but go ahead and add stuff to your filters so you can avoid spoilers just in case.
There's other information regarding the Switch 2 code name. That's mostly useless unless you want to compare it to a past leak or something.
For my part, I will probably seek out this information out of curiosity, but I will not share any info I come across due to the fact that Nintendo will probably nuke anywhere that has this information.
That's all. Have a good night

I wonder what questionable bit of youth culture that's gonna rapidly become dated is going to make it into Gen 10. Like, an endearingly cringe old man asking you what "cheugy" means was very funny but literally no one is gonna know what that word is in a few years (as a non-TikTok user over the age of 25 I'd never heard the word once in my life). I adore Raihan, he's my second favorite character in literally all of Pokemon at this point, but that doesn't change the fact he's a product of the time "selfie" had just entered common parlance and NO ONE would shut up about it.
So I guess what I'm saying is that in the best case scenario Gen 10 is gonna give us some new flavor of cringe ass man to cherish...and at worst Gen 10 is gonna have a Skibidi Toilet reference and we need to start bracing ourselves for this RIGHT NOW.

Potential spoilers for gen 10 due to what I'm talking about mentioning alleged information about it revealed from the teraleak
Tumblr media
I wonder if we will get any information about the war that was talked about in gen 6.
I wonder this bc looking at this piece of concept art from gen 6 that came out during the teraleak, those human soldiers look obviously Grecian, and it is alleged that gen 10 will take place in a region modelled after Greece.
Additionally, with Legends ZA taking place in Kalos, and will be likely the biggest title that will be put out before gen 10 drops, that would be the prime opportunity to sneak in some lore or connect the two in some way.
Idk, just food for thought

my wildest pipe dream to somehow make the best of the current geopolitical situation is like. even though i'd absolutely *prefer* actual material improvements and reforms in global geopolitics, human rights, and economics, Even If there was an indirect negative impact on my own comfort/convenience in regards to USAmerican privilege. since that seems really unlikely in the near future. there's a part of me huffing copium and hoping for something Probably Only A Little Less Unlikely: All this bullshit gets gen 10 of Pokemon delayed. Then they're forced to spend more time on it and make it Actually Good and Actually Able To Run Properly in exchange for it and the new Switch being so fucking overpriced.

If Gen 10 or a future game is inspired by Greece/Rome, I really, REALLY Wonder if we'd actually get to learn more about the celestica people? I know this sounds batshit insane but hear me out-
The architecture they left behind is INCREDIBLY similar to real life greek and roman buildings and ruins, and the multiple deities such as the creation trio, arceus, the lake trio, ect. could parallel nicely with the greek pantheon, Mt Coronet possibly even serving as parallel to Mt. Olympus. Hell-a certain merchant in the postgame of PLA's outfit seems HEAVILY Inspired by those cultures.

Pokemon Fans are all "Where are the Black and white remakes?" and "Why aren't you making a legends Unova?"
Because it's still gen 9, they aren't going to break out the gen 5 stuff until Gen 10, because math and symbolism or whatever, so please calm down.
(I do hope it's better than the gen 4 remakes though)

Still covering my bases depending on what the anime does. A recent leak states they’re going back to a boy character, but it’s not stated to either be Ash or a new character yet as of typing. As it’s the 30th anniversary next year, it would be grossly inappropriate to not include Ash AND Liko in the festivities, but with Liko not returning (according to leaks) and it up in the air with Ash going by TPC’s constantly fluctuating stance, we can’t say right now. Surely at some point, both kids appear alongside a new protagonist for anniversary stuff if that’s the direction they take though.
For now, I’m fleshing out my Gen 10 concept based on leaks. The fanon stuff collectively is called “Type Wild”, which also includes the SV stuff I’ve been doing. The big change is including OC Pokemon, to fill niches I was wanting to complement whatever G10 does.
Main rules: Fakemon are only regional/divergent species, with any “new” Pokemon being evolutions of the subspecies, like Zigagoon getting Obstagoon.
Ash is joined by Percy, a boy descended from the mysterious “Majin”, who is coming back to his home region after trying to avoid his family problems. The main story sees Ash, Percy and a third companion travel the new archipelago which contain “canon” and “OC” islands to play with the official G10 Pokemon and new variants for the scenario like Eiscue.
Stabby and Stingler are Divergent species similar to Krabby and Kingler. These crabs evolved stronger iron defense and sword and shield like claws to defend themselves against predators and other Pokemon battles.
The fire Pikachu is based on a scrapped regional variant that was considered. It probably goes to Percy or the third companion.
The Sunflora regional is a species that evolved on a grassy plain island. It’s a Fire/Grass type, and seems to be a rival with Alolan Exeggutor, competing over who is tallest.
The Cubone line are also regionals that instead of using bones, they use masks and clubs built from scrap metal. They’ve become Steel and Steel/Poison types, and work with mechanics on a few islands.
Nidoran on these islands have evolved to fly and roost in trees and cliffs. The females are more adapt at flying, and mate by swooping down and capturing males of interest. Upon evolution into Nidowing, the males become better fliers and hunters, while the females become cantankerous homebodies, protecting their young. These species become Flying and Flying/Dragon, with a separate Nidoran species discovered in flatlands and more arid regions having become Ground/Normal, evolving into Nidoraptor, a high speed dinosaur like creature that’s Ground/Dragon.
Some species living underwater can only be seen by Percy, due to his fatherly connection to the Poseidon themed Majin, because he can reach the depths to see them o without needing a submarine like Team Rocket. A family of sponge like Pokemon resembling the Oddish family are a common sight, being Water/Fairy. A convergent Diglett species, Water/Fairy, also exists, though if they’re related to Diglett or Wiglett isn’t clear yet.
When the Eiscue Island is discovered, the kids see more variants that have evolved to fill niches on the island’s different ecosystems. The Steel and Poison types evolved from a human presence that used to be on the island, as Ash and Percy find abandoned factories these Eiscue use as nests.

Broke: Playing Scarvio as Paldea MC and feeling sad that we hurt Kieran/witness his negative character arc.
Woke: Playing Scarvio as Kieran and letting him become a big damn hero of Paldea while being able to see Ogerpon as her true self and fight alongside her.
Bespoke: Playing whatever game Generation 10 will release as Kieran to give him a character arc and chance to become a beeg damn hero separate from Paldea MC, who he admired.

With Pokemon Legends Z-A releasing in 2025, we’re probably looking at Gen 10 releasing, or being announced at least, for the 30th anniversary and releasing sometime in 2026 as part of the 30th anniversary celebration. I’m ok with Gen 10 and the 30th anniversary coinciding like this as they’re both major milestones, but I’m also iffy on how TPCI will handle Gen 10.
Like, on one hand, Game Freak likes to lean hard into Gen 1 nostalgia. But on the other hand, everything about the PLZA (can we call it “Plaza”?) trailer says they’re listening to the fanbase for once - i.e. the later release date, Pokemon Z actually happening, and Megas returning.
So what could happen with Gen 10? I have some guesses that maybe I’ll expand into two bingo cards eventually: one for hopes and one for realistic expectations. For now though…
Hopes:
New region set around Italy, India, or China
A new mega-esquse mechanic
A soft reboot similar to Black and White (no old Pokemon can be caught until post-game)
Full national dex available after beating the game
Return of the Battle Frontier
Realistic expectations:
Kanto/Johto part 3 (like how GSC was Kanto part 2)
A weird and uninspired battle mechanic (hello Dynamax)
Kanto pokemon thrown in your face every 10 minutes with some Johto mixed in
Pikachu gets a new form and a new hat
Still limited to 400 pokemon until DLC
Burned Tower is now a Battle Tower
I mean, it could honestly go either way.

Whenever I see or hear the phrase "gen 10", my brain immediately hits me with the original Ben 10 theme song and I hear gen 10 said like it does when the song says Ben 10.

I think I want to do some speculation about the next couple of pokemon games, but it is largely based on internal findings from the Teraleak and breadcrumbs from leakers. So with that being said, I'll drop it under a cut.
To be precise, this concerns ZA and Gen 10. I have no insider info, I'm just bored.
First, ZA.
The main thing I'm gonna speculate here are some small bits compared to Gen 10, but it's still something to consider after information revealed about Legends Arceus- that information pertaining to the whole reason LA was made.
They made it to be a future testing ground to shape the future of the franchise, basically using it to try things they wanna do in the future. Sounds basic enough and reasonable enough on its own considering what it's laid the foundation for.
However, this being said and keeping this info in mind, there's something they wanted to put in LA that even they couldn't do despite the extreme progress made:
Voice acting, at least beyond basic Grunts.
New data shows they actually had a bit more they wanted to implement but cut out- nothing like fully voice acted scenes as far as I'm aware, but there are recorded phrases such as "Hai," "Arigato," "Hello," very basic things like that.
So imo, I think they're gonna try to implement voice acting for real. Maybe nothing beyond a few specific scenes and some generic phrases, one liners, and Grunts, but a step up from LA since we have a firm understanding the Legends series is a sort of testing ground for new ideas.
I think we all know how awkward some of the clips from the Switch Era (and imo even 3ds era) are without voice acting- after reading over leaks, I'm sure even some devs at GF think that, too. If ZA is going to test using one huge city as a setting, they may as well test out voice acting, too.
The hacker has stated that the game is mostly done, all that's missing is side quest stuff and more accurate translation- this is from a beta of the game that he most likely acquired in August 2024. With that said, maybe a reason we haven't gotten a trailer yet is because they want to get voice acting for the scenes in it, and polish up translations.
As for anything else, the leaks will definitely affect something in production- dunno what yet. Script may be rewritten, a Pokemon shelved, that kind of deal.
On that train of thought, there's a strong chance that info could come out BEFORE Pokemon day in response to the leaked info- if for nothing else than as a force of hand, or to reveal something before the hacker changes his mind and reveals something else for them. But I'd say to get comfortable with the idea we won't see anything for a few months, and if we do, it'll most likely be something very small, like starter or character pngs.
I'm also starting to have doubts about Snivy and Piplup being starters, mainly because it's obvious and Serperior is on the gates of that one palace.
That's all for ZA.
Onto gen 10:
We've gotten only a small tidbit related to this from the hacker himself- that being that gen 10 will be based on some sort of archipelago of islands, and that Gaia is the code name for this, much like Ikkaku is ZA, Titan is SV, Beluga is LGPE, etc. It should be noted that code names usually have little to do with the final result, save Titan- as in Titan pokemon.
There's also some info from leaked documents of correspondence between GF and the anime team- that being some concern of how there was island hopping in Horizons and that for a bit, it was heading towards a "Gaia like direction," and how they wanted to steer the anime away from this if possible.
The above seems to correlate, so we'll say there's a high likelihood it will indeed be an island hopping Advent through an archipelago.
Before anyone goes "nooo too much water-" I need you to understand the last time we really had any sort of major ocean route in a Pokemon game was LGPE, and before that it was ORAS. Notice the key difference here is that ORAS was still using random encounters- everything on the Switch has been using OVERWORLD encounters that you can easily avoid. Even then, we can directly compare the idea to how Alola handled it- you know, the other island hopping region that is surprisingly mostly land locked in terms of where we can go, and traversal between islands is mostly locked to story progression by boat, flight, or a surfing minigame.
It can be handled a variety ways imo, and personally I really adore the idea of islands again, so I say go for it.
This information can also help us narrow it down significantly- it kinda sucks that it seems like Australia is off the menu, but maybe in the future? Still, that's a huge chunk of the world off the table. There is also a chance this is a lie, do it's not totally dismissed just yet.
Mainly if we continue the island trail, it leaves SEA, the Caribbean, Arctic Archipelago, or the Mediterranean as most likely candidates. Out of these, SEA or Mediterranean seems most likely, mainly because they're probably more popular in terms of Japanese tourist destinations and lore to work with, although I think a Caribbean region needs to be made at some point too.
So between SEA and Mediterranean, it's probably going to be somewhere Mediterranean, and specifically- Greece.
Tumblr media
Lots of islands, tons of history, and even though it would be the third European region in a row and 4th in total, Greece could be the least milquetoast out of them due to the diverse cultures of the Mediterranean. The lore and mythos to draw from is plentiful, so much so that they've already drawn upon it with Sinnoh's Spear Pillar, Hisui's ruins, and Hoenn's Sootopolis. The lore especially is world famous and can be used to inspire a lot of pokemon- I for one would love a hippogriff Pokemon. Now that being said, regional influences barely affect the dexes, but there's plenty of Pokemon that usually are influenced.
As for the topography itself- I can see it being a One Piece situation with extremes taken to each island- maybe one is engulfed in a snow storm, maybe one is volcanic, one has weird ass plants- you get the idea. Pokemon tries to diversify the topography of each region anyway to include a little of everything of the basics, so it could feasibly work in that regard.
More importantly, what could the overall theming be? Well, that's the tricky part. It could be super heroes for all we know due to the sentai figure in Penny's room, but I certainly hope not because that barely tracks at all.
If we assume gen 10 will release in 2026 during the 30th anniversary, I think it's reasonable to assume we might be getting another nostalgia region like Alola. That many areas could easily represent a little bit of each region in the Pokemon world, and could even serve as something akin to Sonic Generations in terms of a "best of" for each past gen or game. Maybe not a direct thing like an Ecruteak City copy, but that's not exactly off the table either. However, something like this COULD solve the regional variant issues that will arise once we get to Switch 2, particularly with an island having certain "auras" of certain regions to allow for certain evolutions to occur. Maybe even embassies to get unique pokemon.
But that might not happen and it could be it's own thing- I certainly hope so. As much as I adore Alola, it rode Kanto's dick too much.
Of course if we talk about Greece, there's PLENTY of sailing stories to be drawn from from the island hopping perspective.
Now, I'll be honest- I think I'd prefer SEA. Maybe Indonesia especially, because A. It's not another European country, B. It is mostly in the Southern Hemisphere, which we have yet to have a region in. In fact, Indonesia is the most populated southern Hemisphere country. C. I don't know much about it's mythos or lore, but I've researched just a tad out of curiosity- it would probably be the most curious place to visit simply because it isn't as well known as Greece.
But, admittedly, Greece does have a higher chance.
Now, I don't particularly enjoy Khu as a leaker, riddler, or person in general. His riddles suck ass and barely make sense even after the fact, he likes to stir the pot by causing trouble, and he has been known to lie for fun. I've stopped putting as much stock in his riddles for these reasons, also because some if his info can be reasonably inferred without him.
That being said- he has had info in the past and seems to be hinting at information that correlates to a Mediterranean island region. To one user, he said "near you," in which Pasio was their listed location- Pasio is loosely inspired by Italy (further confirmed by a leaked concept map of the region that looks a lot like Italy on its side... sigh, there goes Pokemon Venice I guess). He also tweeted out 🙏, which now has some sense- praying, as in worship. What do you worship? Gods. What's a place known for gods? Greece. What's also near Italy? Greece. He also said "too much water" in regards to the region.
Again, I don't like him. However, if we simply use his info as a guide, it adds some believability to the info above.
But again, all of this could be a big ass lie like his lie with the BW remakes as a "prank" and it all DOES turn out to be Australia.
But we won't know for sure any time soon.
But if I were to pick starters on Greek mythos, the smart man would easily use Greek Myth of gods and monsters as inspiration. Pegasus, minotaur, hydra, Gordon, there's a lot to pick from. You could even try animals that specific gods turned into, such as a bear, spider, bull, what have you.
Anyway, that's all
