The idea Is cool but if I had to Guess Who get a Miraculus based on the Kids choise.
Manon sincerally She would give Her Miraculus to Marinette so here you can make It so that Mari Try give One of the two Miraculus back to Fu, and he Will choose Someone new that she doesn't know (if that the case i think that It would be funny if Fu gave the returned Miraculus to Adrien)
Ella or Etta would give their Miraculus to Alya and either Nora (Anansi) or (if they are already dating and the Twin meet Him) Nino.
Chris would probably fall for Lila charm and (Maybe similar to the Canon Finale) Will give his Miraculus to Her.
So if this goes like i Just explained we would have:
Alya: Fox or Bee
Nino/Nora: Fox or Bee (the One Alya doesn't have)
Marinette: Ladybug or Turtle
Adrien: Ladybug or Turtle (the One Marinette give back to Fu)
Lila: Black Cat
That give Lila the ability of choosing to side with Hackmock and still let the Hero fix the damage!
The 4 (in my opinion) Best possibility are:
1) Ladybug Adrien, Cat Lila, Nino Fox, Alya Bee and Marinette Turtle: Because Marinette already know how to best use the Turtle (and it make so that Paris trust Her more because they Remember Her from the Kids Heroes) Lila has the ability to switch side each Battle without the risk of permanent damage, and a comb (Bee) Is more "Easy" to Hide on a girl, while a neckless Is "normal" for both girls and Boys.
2) Ladybug Marinette, Cat Lila, Alya Fox, Nino Bee and Adrien Turtle: because Is the most similar to Canon while also not going against the "Kids Logic".
3) Ladybug Marinette, Cat Lila, Alya Fox, Nora Bee and Adrien Turtle: Nora can punch Someone and put Them K.O. (I mean Nora use "Venom" to paralise Them)
4) Ladybug Adrien, Cat Lila, Alya Fox, Nora Bee and Marinette Turtle: This Is my favorite because It get EVERYTHING; Trusted by Paris Hero Marinette, Switch Side Lila, Nora punch KO villains.
Also there Is still the possibility that Fu doesn't choose Adrien so you can change Him with Who you want (Just Need to make sure it's not One of the other One chosen by the Kids)
Also Also there Is the possibility that Chris doesn't choose Lila and instead he gave It to Nino making It so that we have:
Marinette and Adrien*: Ladybug and Turtle
Alya and Nora: Bee and Fox
Nino: Black Cat
*or Someone else
Fun AU idea for Miraculous

So like…. Miraculous, but small. I thought, what if Master Fu was trying to make power ups without the grimoir and accidentally did something that age locked all the miraculous, making it so that they can only be used by elementary schoolers? (All except the Turtle, cuz he was wearing it.) I know, it makes no sense, but like….
Miraculous. But small. Really I just wanted Manon as Ladybug. And just the idea of Marinette as the Turtle running around and trying to coral all these little kids with superpowers while trying to fight Akkumas is just… really really funny to me. So yeah—you’ve got Chris as the cat and Alya’s twin sisters as the Fox and the Bee. And that’s the ida. :)

anything in particular that he’s guilty about or just general religious guilt?
Realistically i (as a fellow north african diaspora muslim) think nino, who i assume is the mildest flavor of religious possible, would be having a very long very quiet internal crisis the entire time.
"ok so there's this magic (demon ???) spirit turtle creature who makes me invulnerable and gives me fancy supernatural abilities (deal with demon ???) for about half an hour once or twice a week depending on whether or not ladybug needs me but it's chill its not witchcraft bro i promise you its some other shit. bro. also the magic turtle says its billions of years old and is immortal. but ITS CHILL. ITS NOT A DEMON. ITS NOT LYING TO ME. IM FRIENDS WITH THE TURTLE. WE'RE FRIENDS.
oh my best friend is a creature created using one of the not-demons ? he's not included in the religious text i was raised with and believe in ? that renders him technically soulless ? ok. ok. im choosing to ignore the ramifications."

Logic talk time,

There was no reason to bring him out other than narrative. I know it works for the story, but practically speaking (in the show) there is no use for him. I mean by practical, superhero standards.
In the movie they made it that Ladybug's and Cat Noir's power grows when they are used in unison, so it's right to put both of them in action. But there isn't any hint for that in the show. However, there is a real danger: it's Cats miraculous that villain needs with Ladybug's to make a wish.
Ladybug is required to cleanse the akuma and repair the damage. Paris wouldn't survive without those abilities. But she could do with any help, Turtle or Fox miraculous are first bets. Especially Turtle given the idea to give her someone who will protect her, so yeah, give her a guy with a sheald. From strategicall point, Master Fu made a terrible blunder by revealing two miraculous that the villain needs to obtain.
Now, it probably would make for a completly different story. And narratively it's hard to imagine Ladybug without Cat Noir. But there is some potential in that plot, where Master Fu has a team already formed, but the challenge, for example in the season finale, rises to greatly to deal by any means and then he unleashes the second main miraculous holder he picks himself to save the day after thorugh deliberation whether to run and keep miraculous safe or to risk losing it for the possibility to safe Paris.
Imagine Ladybug and Chat falling for eachother in that one fight only for Master Fu to order Adrien to give miraculous away. Next season conflict is Marinette being extremely salty with her master because he doesn't want to bring Cat out again and also conflicted, because this one time guy suddenly makes her feel disloyal to Adrien (in that AU Adrien isn't distracted with Ladybug, so he goes for Mari immidietly). Or complete opposite. LB dislakes Cat and is fighting her pride everytime she needs him, making a pros and cons list to calling for this flirty, distracting, unserious, flamboyant boy. Or anytime she needs cotactlism, she tries to persuade Master Fu to give her black cat miraculous so she can chose someone "more fitting" but Master Fu is set on keeping as little people involved, therefore it's either that guy or no Black Cat at all.
Or even better, don't tell us who he is at the start. Make one time Chat Noir just show up in the darkest moment, then be gone and Puff, no sign of him until he is needed again. Show revolves around Marinette anyway, they didn't need to pretend like Adrien is main character. It's like, Chat Noir is on minds of so many fans because he us underexposed constantly. So maybe the fix was to intentionally underexpose him. That way people would lounge for him instead of resenting writers. Introduce him far later into the story, don't tell us who he is and roll with the mystery man who either is this fantasy lover Marinette is ashamed to dream about or the most annoying teammate to work with (and just imagine how much more impactfull would it be for the first Marichat scene if we didn't who he was and had generally no idea about his personallity). Make however some clues, enough for people start theorizing, like phew puns here and there coming from Adrien, he wears a distinctive ring, he knows something about miraculous that no outsider should, but also, put some decoys along the way, is it Felix, maybe it's another introduced character, maybe Luka (there is a whole Reddit post with that idea). And then, big reveal, it was ADRIEN all this time. Then people watch the show again and are like "OW MY GOD, I TOTALLY SEE IT NOW". Imagine

The Perfect Partner (Part 2)
Prompt by @ironicreality
“What?” Adrien was confused, he thought he was supposed to look like Ladybug’s old sidekick, but instead he was in this weird restrictive mix of a skintight supersuit and a vaugely ‘royal prince’ uniform..
Cat themed of course, complete with silly pawprints for the buttons. If they weren’t in a literal life or death situation he’d probably find it kind of fun in a childish way.
“You- I…” Ladybug shakes her her and scowls. “Of course it was one big trick- I’m going to-”
There is another crack a stone wall behind them shudders with a superpowered blow.
“Ladybug, whatever it is we have a job to do.” Adrien sharply reminded her.
Ladybug’s scowl didn’t let up, but her attention returned to the present. Wordlessly she grabs his arm and practically drags him closer to the enemy.
“Uh, Ladybug- what’s the *plan?*” Superpowered or not, Adrien wasn’t looking forwards to seeing the Akuma he’d suicidally upset for some reason.
Abruptly they passed a piece of rubble and they were suddenly in view of the thing. A bunch of other heroes were desperately dancing around it with no other apparent goal than drawing attention and hoping to avoid immediate death.
“Distract it and keep it in the school.” Ladybug *growled* and literally *threw him* at the stone monster. Adrien found himself slamming into the thing, rebounding off the hard body with a sharp gasp (some part of his brain confirms that the collision would have been lethal normally, so superpowers were confirmed) and landed on his backside before the thing.
“Oh hey, who’s the new guy?” The turtle themed-one asked.
“Carapace, back before you change back!” Ladybug interrupts. “Everyone else, leave this to *Cat Walker*.”
Wait, what?
Adrien stares in shock as the rest of the team wordlessly abandons him. 'Cat Walker’ stares up at the Akuma, and somehow dodges to the side in time to avoid being crushed.
What follows is a full ten minutes of Cat Walker continuing that trend. The super-agility, strength and speed help but the monster still knocks him through a few walls. Surprisingly he doesn’t immediately die but instead just feels bruised and winded.
At some point he notices that he has a metal stick attached to his back and finds that it snaps wide to become a staff of some kind. It’s kind of neat.
It also does nothing what-so-ever to the giant rock monster-
Oh, never mind. The Akuma *laughs* like it’s being tickled.
By the end of the ten minutes Cat Walker is tried, sore and quite sure that he’s going to need to be “brought back” by Ladybug. But luckily for him, that’s when the rest of the team comes back, this time with a stripey wasp-themed hero and within moments the Akuma is contained and then paralyzed before Ladybug comes over with some a bottle of spray (red and black spotted of course) that reveals a choker around the Akuma’s neck.
And so Cat Walker witnesses his first (?, it feels familiar… did he see it on TV before?) purification and the Miraculous Cure.
Honestly it’s kind of awe-inspiring up close to see the school rebuilt in a second around him but, the wonder is quickly cut off as Carapace turns to him again. “So hey newbie, not bad-”
“He’s a temp!” Ladybug interrupted again, sharply with that same sour tone, “*just a temp.*”
“Hunh, oh.” Carapace shrugs, “shame Dude, you did pretty good there for first time.”
Cat Walker finds his voice. “… I nearly died six times.”
Ladybug *snorts*, and the Dragon-themed hero calmly- but *snidely* in a way that reminded him of Kagami when she was feeling smug- speaks up; “we noticed.”
“Thanks for your help!” The wasp quickly distracts from that, “sorry about taking so long. I had a thing and-”
She was giving a polite and possibly true excuse. Which was more than he’d probably get from anyone else here- did they *really* need to leave him alone to fight the monster?
Oh well. Adrien knew when to cut his losses, so he drops into the appropriate script.
“That’s alright, I’m sure you had a good reason.” Cat Walker slides into the polite etiquette with a disturbing ease, almost like he *meant it*. “But I’m sure we all have our lives to return to.”
“That’s right!” Ladybug chirps, clearly in a good mood now, “so everyone get to your rendezvous points and-”
Cat Walker pulled off the ring.
“ADRIEN!” Carapace’s eyes bulge. “You-” he turns to Ladybug. “You picked *him*?”
From the sound of things, Carapace’s good opinion of him had disappeared like Cat Walker’s confining suit. Come to think of it the same seemed to apply to the Wasp Heroine, and the Dragon’s eyes had become hard.
Adrien, for his part, couldn’t say exactly why he’d suddenly tugged off the magic ring. Well, no: of course he could. The form felt powerful for sure, but it was also confining, and the fact that he’d been thrown to the giant rock monster without warning didn’t make it more appealing. But somehow being Cat Walker also felt like…
Embarrassment? *Anger*?
No. Not just that, there was resentment burning under his skin but also…
Submission?
Whatever it was, some part of him utterly *loathed* being Cat Walker even before Ladybug threw him at the giant monster and wouldn’t stand for wearing the ring a second longer.
“You wanted this back right after, right?” Adrien found the box from before -where had it gone when changed?- in his hand, and spied the little black cat-thing from before in the corner for his eye for a second before he popped the ring in and snapped it closed. “Here.”
He pointedly pushed it to her, and Ladybug reflexively took it even while apparently still in shock.
“Right, so was that it?” He put on a winning smile, just like the creepy cameramen at his job loved. The rest of the team still seemed lost for words, and Adrien- still feeling his skin crawl with *whatever* from the ring and the phantom pains of being beaten- decided to escape the little clan of Superfurries before that changed. “Great, thanks for all your hard work- say, is she all right?”
He pointed to the Akuma victim, currently dazed and slowly coming to. She looked like a girl a little past four.
“Uh-yeah…” Carapace looked over to her, “hey so-”
“One of you should probably get her out of here, bye!” Adrien shot another smile and promptly *left*.
—
If you asked him, he couldn’t say for sure *why* he so jerkily left the team like that. Even more than the shock and frustration of being made into an impromptu mouse for an Akuma to play with, it was something *else* like what he felt from the ring.
If Father had seen him act in that way, he was sure the uptight man would have shoved him straight back into etiquette lessons again. But Adrien was quite sure that if he’d stayed he would have said something worse.
Either way, the whole thing was behind him as he found his class restored, so he promptly put the surreal experience out of his mind.
And things mostly went back to normal after that. There were some odd looks from his classmates, especially from Chloe and the Class President’s clique, he just paid attention to the lessons and moved on.
Father actually spoke to him at dinner, which was kind of a novelty. Somehow he’d found out about his little ‘heroics’ in saving Chloe (not about the superhero part, just the suicidal part) and gave him a lecture about basic common sense and not running into danger.
It was… actually kind of fair. The man was a complete jerk most of the time but Adrien had to admit that he’d been a bit of lemming, so he just took his medicine without complain: and that satisfied Gabriel enough to leave him be after that.
What *was* surprising though was finding Ladybug waiting for him in his room.
The pleasantries are short (nonexistent).
“Today was a one-time thing. Don’t expect to touch the ring again.” Ladybug is professional, but there’s an undercurrent there that he doesn’t care for.
“I wasn’t planning to,” Adrien keeps his tone airy, like he’s not bothered that she’s there.
(Something in the back fof his skull crawls)
“Good. Then we’re done here.” Ladybug turns to leave.
But Adrien, whoever he was in the past, was just a *little* too ‘imperfect’ now, just a little petty now to just let his all-too-long career of spontaneous Akuma hackysack slide without at least one jab in of his own;
“Do you usually leave people to fight the enemy on their own? Or is that just for temps?”
Ladybug ignored him as she left.
—
Adrien, having not enjoyed his brief time as a hero/punchingbag as much as you might think, was quite happy to ignore *her* and the entire war once more. Which he did for a full day, a full week, and very nearly a full month.
But there always whispers about Ladybug having to use different ‘cats’ now, rumours that even he couldn’t close his ears to. And it turned he also couldn’t close his life to either.
It was a dour afternoon while Adrien was practising his piano (there was something kind of nice about the ‘click’ of muscle memory guiding him to the notes before his mind realised). The wind was blowing quite heavily, so he’d shut his window-
So imagine his surprise when suddenly the thing opened from the *outside*, and a miserably wet Superheroine dropped in- no wait.
She was also just flat out miserable to be there, judging from her expression.
“Why hello Ladybug, come in, come in,” Adrien hid his surprise as best he could with , but some inner barb poked through his good sense again (why am I antagonising a superhero?). “Don’t mind the water damage I’m sure I can pay for it.”
Ladybug stared as him like she was facing a needle to the eye.
She said nothing as she pulled out a box like the one from last time.
Something bitter twisted in him.
“I thought we agreed last time-”
“I need Ryuko *and* a black cat.” Ladybug’s words were sharp and to the point, like they hurt her to say.
Adrien looked at the box. “And you want me to be the cat?”
“*No.*” The re was venom there before she composed herself, “But you’re… good with the ring.”
Adrien wasn’t stupid.
This Ryuko was the Dragon Hero, and from the way Ladybug was speaking- she was also Ladybug’s first pick for Black Cat when she didn’t need both seperately.
But there was no way that he was so ‘good with the ring’ after one try spent running from one beating after another. He knew she had other backups as well, but maybe it was the same thing and she needed them with other Miraculouses…
“*Chloe* is out there,” Ladybug seemed to have picked up on his hesitation, and she growled the name. “I know you care about *her*, so just take the ring and get going.”
Adrien opened his mouth to refuse- But again, something in him twisted. Maybe it was some left over feelings for an old friendship he couldn’t remember? Whatever it was, it enough to overpower the feelings of *wrongness* as he stood up to take the box.
“Follow my path out of the garden,” Ladybug’s words were clipped again as she turned, “the cameras won’t see us.”
—
As expected, Ladybug more or less dropped him on the Akuma and left him to absorb the heat.
“Aww, poor little kitty left out in the cold?” The weather-themed Akuma mocked him, “better hold on tight if you don’t want to be blown away!”
No sign of Chloe anywhere, but maybe she’d had the good sense to run while Ladybug left. Unlike some other poor souls.
A supernatural gust of hail struck one of said souls with full force, almost throwing him over a bridge railing before some instinct pushed him to extend his staff for support.
He looked up at the Akuma. A dark dress, purple hair in two large pigtails and an umbrella; something clicked in his head;
“Stormy Weather was it?” Cat Walker looked up at the floating Akuma.
“The one and only,” Stormy confirmed with sadistic glee. “Now, why don’t we see if this little kitty swims like the old one-”
Okay no, Cat Walker had better things to do that to just take beatings today- or any day. There were better ways to waste time; why not try ‘diplomacy’?
“That seems unnecessary,” a perfect model smile crossed Cat Walker’s face.
“Oh, and why’s *that*?” Stormy smirked.
“Because clearly you’re going to win,” Cat Walker sighed with apparently sincere resignation.
The Akuma’s face dropped in surprise, and the model continued on; “anyone can tell where this battle is heading.” He put a hand to his chest, “I’m but a poor novice to this war, and then there’s *you*, well… don’t you think this is a bit unfair?”
Stormy giggled like an idiot; “yes, yes it is!” Fine lines of Lightning flickered into existience around her as she circled in closer to him. They licked the ground and left scorch marks, but Cat Walker’s eyes focused on the umbrella instead while Stormy’s attention was elsewhere. “You’re helpless before me!”
“I have to agree,” Cat Walker mournfully concurred, and as if in deep fear; he flinched away from Stormy Weather, drwaing closer to a stone Pillar like she was a predator he was retreating from. “This is, is, is…”
Stormy’s eyes gleamed with a sense of power over the hero and she advanced closer, “*go on*….”
“A cataclysmic disaster!” Cat Walker threw up his clawed hand in emphasis.
In a second, Stormy realised the ruse and hissed; her eyes darted to his right hand.
And left herself vulnerable to his left. Having floated in close, she barely had time to blink as he lunged forwards with his ringless hand and ripped the umbrella from her grip.
“Wait-”
Chat Noir’s power hadn’t activated, but Cat Walker only took a second to break the umbrella in two under foot. To his pleasure, not only did Stormy’s power vanish, but a butterfly suddenly flew out of the broken implement and the Akuma victim reappeared in human form from a weave of dark magic.
“Where… where am?” The girl blinked in shock as Cat Walker nimbly plucked the Akuma butterfly from the air, “Are you a hero? Where’s Ladybug?”
“Oh don’t worry, I’m just a temp” Cat Walker gave her the same smile that had charmed her a moment ago. “The real heroes should be here any minute.”
—
And I’m just going to leave it here for now. With the core dynamic established and parts of the mystery of Chat Noir’s end implied: the next parts will be covering just how a Black Cat who 'takes things seriously’ would clash with Marinette’s approach.

In your miraculous rewrite how does ladybugs unlock heart ability fully work? ( you don't need to answer if it's a spoiler but how did alya turn her miraculous permanent?)
Miraculouses are basically a god liking your vibes and granting you a power because of it. Marinette, Adrien, Chloe and previous owners of the turtle, peacock and butterfly miraculous had a link so strong with the god it manifested a miraculous just like that.
Ladybug can see when a potential link with a god is possible. She sees it as a little spark within someone usually when they get character development and can create a miraculous from it. It's only temporary as she can't just create miraculouses for people forever, and only the person can make it permanent.
Hope I'm making sense?
For example Alya gets her spark when Kim gets akumatized and Paris goes into Chaos (he got power like Discord from mlp); her sense of justice and instincts align with the god of Intuition, and thus Ladybug can create her a miraculous for her
As for Alya making hers permanent... I literally don't know yet lol. I'd probably mix it with the idea of the gang of secret episode tbh, with Alya being able to stop being akumatized and gets her miraculous there?

The Dueling Fates of the Guardian Neos & Lady Glasswing
In a world familiar yet strange, tragedy and a gifted Butterly pendant sends a child on a dangerous and destructive path in a bid to undo what was wrought.
While circumstances and the will of the Kami see a very different child granted an opportunity to be something she never truly thought possible, a hero.
These designs are for an AU, I have outlined but only written a fraction of, where in Marinette and Chloe oppose one another as the mysterious Lady Glasswing and the fiery Neo Guardian of the Kwami.
Thematically, its centered-on idea relating to "good victims" and "Bad victims" and how that status impacts victims. How systemic and social failures can lead to destructive and harmful behaviors while support and guidance can serve to correct and heal.
Both would serve as sort of mirrors to one another, spoilers below:
Chloe was a "bad victim" in response to emotional and psychological neglect and abuse. Which largely caused her to act out in harmful ways and be rejected, only reinforcing her behavior.
Marinette was a "Good Victim" after a tragedy. She didn't make waves or lash out, didn't try to cause trouble & so didn't get the support she needed & began spiraling as a result.
Thanks to the support of the Kwami and a growing team of people who refuse to be chased away by her temper as well as an outlet that sees her getting positive feedback, Chloe begins to heal and improve.
Meanwhile Marinette's increasing alienation from people born of systemic and social failures, exaggerated by the Butterfly's use see her becoming more destructive and callous in her isolation.
Thematically and narratively, the idea would also be for Chloe's attitude to steadily shift from "Spite/defeat Lady Glasswing no matter what" to "Save Marinette from herself the way others saved me."
Notes:
Glasswing is also a type of Butterfly and rather fitting as Marinette comes to believe her Akuma are forcing people to show their true selves. She also has to Akumify Caterpillars into cocoons to get butterfly's.
Chloe starts out constantly swapping between Kwami and so doesn't have a "Designated" Kwami, but she trends towards Sass for the Second Chance theming and Roaar for the combative outlet, her suit adapts its colors to her Kwami.
The team is loosely made up of:
Adrien - Horse & Ladybug
Sabrina - Fox & Turtle
Zoe - Black Cat & Dog
Kagami - Dragon & Peacock
Fei Wu - Mei-Shi & Mouse
Lamb & Rooster are indetermined, & I'd be using my 12/15 Kwami Lore, seen over on my main blog.
Lila would have Trixx at the start but lose him due to irresponsibility in the field due to fame-seeking. She ends up wielding the stolen Prodigious on Marinette's side while beginning to realize she is in over her head.
Ironically, with no Gabriel to ruin her life, Fei's much more well off but wants the Prodigious back.

Thank you for answering my Origins Dragon!Marinette and Turtle!Adrien question! Please don’t worry about disagreeing with the idea; I asked for YOUR opinion and analysis on why it would OR wouldn’t work, and that’s what I got. 😌 It also made me consider meta and in-show stuff that I hadn’t before, which is cool. You mentioned wanting all of the Kwamis to be part of some sort of set of two or more, and I’d love to hear what those sets are in your head going down the full Chinese Miracle Box list and why you’d pair them together with consideration towards both the Kwami themselves and their Powers.
(Post this ask is referring to)
Oh good, I'm glad that you found it useful and not discouraging!
Talking about how to pair the Kwamis is a little tricky because of an issue that I've discussed before. That issue being that the "Chinese" miracle box seems to be about as Chinese as fortune cookies. That makes me uncomfortable because - as far as I'm aware - the Chinese zodiac is a major part of Chinese beliefs and traditions. As such, I personally feel like the box should reflect those beliefs and traditions, but I also don't know those beliefs and traditions, so I can't tell you how I'd effectively group the zodiac Kwamis in order to honor their cultural origins. I can't even be sure if my criticism is valid or just me being overly cautious!
In an ideal world where I had money to invest in this sort of thing, I'd hire a cultural consultant to work with me to design a Chinese miracle box that feels Chinese (or to tell me that I'm overthinking this and to just do whatever I want). Assuming that I'm not overreacting, this would probably mean redesigning a lot of the powers and looks so that they honor Chinese lore and not Western lore.
For example, one thing that I know for sure is that black cats are not unlucky in China. They're actually symbols of good luck (all cats are), so a Chinese box would not have the implied good luck/bad luck thing that we get with Ladybug and Chat Noir. My limited research has also raised some doubts about ladybugs being a go-to symbol of good luck or creation in China, but I'm a lot less confident about that one being a bad choice as the association may exist. I couldn't find anything definitive one way or the other. This leads me to think that, if the association exists, then it's probably a bit obscure, meaning that a Chinese box would probably go with a different animal if we were trying to be culturally accurate to what a Chinese-inspired box would really look like.
I can say with reasonable certainty that Creation is associated with the masculine yang and Destruction is associated with the feminine yin, so Tikki should possibly feel masculine to feminine Plagg. At the very least, their spots in the miracle box should probably be reversed with Plagg in the black and Tikki in the white since yin is black and yang is white?
[Image Description: center of the original miracle box showing that ladybug earrings are placed in the black part of the yin yang symbol while the black cat ring is in the white]
I also known that white rabbits being associated with time, watches, and umbrellas comes from Alice in Wonderland and not China. Are you starting to see why I'm doubting the cultural accuracy of the miracle box?
The alternate way to approach this is to remove the possible issue of Chinese culture being treated as "mystical" or nothing more than ornamentation by making the Chinese miracle box into the miracle box of no specified culture. Since that's kind of what the box already is in terms of deeper meanings and cultural ties, I think we can go that route for this discussion since we have taken a moment to acknowledge the potential issues with the box's existing design and why that's leading me to take this route as - to me - this seems to be the only way to stick to canon's lore while avoiding potential further insults to Chinese culture.
If we went to my ideal extremes with this approach, we'd actually massively cut down the number of miraculous in the box because I think that there are way too many miraculous! Who needs nineteen "unique" powers to arm and fight one villain? This is extra true since there's no real theme to the miraculous beyond the initial setup of Creation/Destruction + five random powers followed by the addition twelve more random powers with no clear ties to any culture or theme other than the look of the Kwamis that grant the powers.
But that's getting real extreme, so for this ask, we won't go there. Instead, I'll talk about some general ideas for grouping the powers that we already have and some ideas for how you could fix the randomness of our current powers to make them feel like they make sense.
To start, I love the fact that our two main heroes are supposed to be a pair power wise. That's a lovely way to approach your lore and is why I think that they should have grouped the other miraculous, too. Why are Creation and Destruction the only set? Why aren't the others in any sort of group? Why do these miraculous have the powers they do? What ties them to this box and not another box?
There are a few ways to approach pairing the other miraculous. You can come at it from a theme perspective such as the fact that both the snake and the rabbit are all about time. You can also look for opposites such as the turtle being all about defense and the dragon being more about offense. You can even go more broad and say that a given group of miraculous is all aspects of one type of power such as the peacock, the goat, and the ladybug all feeling like aspects of creation. There's really no clear way to go about this because the current powers are so freaking random!
When I approach this stuff, I don't just come up with powers. I come up with the lore and let that help guide the powers or I shape the lore around the powers I want to use until both things make sense. For example, it makes sense that Creation would have some magical being guiding it. It also makes sense that Creation would either create Destruction for balance or that they both popped into existence together so that there was always a balance. Once you have that, you say, "Okay, what other Forces would these two want in order to help guide the universe? What can't they do or what do they do consistently enough that they might want to hand it off?"
Going from there, you start to come up with ideas like maybe they wanted Time to have a physical embodiment so that they could get some guidance on the long term effects of the things that they were making, so that's Fluff coming online. But Time is a lot and they liked their balance, so maybe Sass was brought online too in order to balance Fluff with Fluff being focused on what was and what could be while Sass is focused on what is, thereby giving Fluff someone to ground her. Or maybe you even add in a third Kwami to be some sort of historian who remembers the past while Fluff is the future and Sass is the now.
Another thought path is that most things are not pure Creation or pure Destruction. You must destroy to create. When you make bread, yeast consumes sugar to create air bubbles. Creation and Destruction working together. So maybe Tikki and Plagg wanted to make "children" who could do what they couldn't do solo and that's how we got the peacock?
No matter how you go about this, I really don't think that there's a great way to explain/group all nineteen miraculous, especially if you add in the eagle and Fei's wacky prodigious with it's animal abilities. It's just too random! But I do think that there's a lot of potential in strong subsets of the ones we get in canon, especially if you're allowed to edit the powers or the Forces a bit to make them fit their supposed Force or granted power better. I've talked before about how I'd mess with Lucky Charm to remove the odd Luck association and focus on Creation and that's what I'd do with most of the miraculous because, right now, most of them don't make much sense.
For example, Ziggy - the goat - is supposed to be the Kwami of Passion and that somehow gives the power to create anything you want? I know creatives are passionate, but that still doesn't fit in my mind. It would make more sense for this to be an inspiration power like the pig or for the Force to change to Creation and Ziggy is just a lesser ladybug for some reason? And Stompp - the Ox - is Determination, but I'd actually label his shield power as an aspect of Protection, making him in some sort of pairing with the turtle. Self defense verses defense of others?
In short, the canon lore is a disaster that needs major work to feel solid which leads to lots of paths for fixing the mess. In my opinion, the best way to go about fixing it is to take the element that worked best - the Creation/Destruction pairing - and expand that out to make strong, logical lore for the other Kwamis and their associated powers. Lore that probably won't be rooted in any one culture because no culture seems to be a solid match for the lore that canon is using, which is only concerning because of the current obvious associations with China and that's not even touching on the whole Tibetan monks + Chinese culture issue. Go check out the post I linked at the start for my thoughts on that which basically sum up to, "I am not even remotely qualified to talk about this one, but it seems like a terrible idea."
(Once again, reminder that I'm not Chinese or otherwise deeply informed on Chinese culture. I'm just a person who tries her best to respect other cultures and the miracle box sets off a lot of warning bells for me. Those warning bells could always be a false positive, so you shouldn't take my thoughts as some sort of final say on this topic. Please feel free to look into this on your own and form your own opinions.
If you are Chinese or otherwise educated in these topics, then please feel free to reblog this or send an ask giving me some additional context as I really do love learning about this stuff, but it's near impossible to research! I spent a good hour talking to a local librarian trying to find books or articles in our library that talked about the Chinese zodiac from an academic perspective and we found nothing. I've got a few interlibrary loan requests out to academic libraries in our library network though and I'll follow up on this if those books end up having information that adds to the discussion.)
#ml writing critical#ml writing salt#anon ask#lore discussion#I kept thinking I should bite the bullet and do more serious research on this topic since the box really does bother me#So thanks for getting me to finally do that anon!#There's a good chance that this will go nowhere though#I've heard elsewhere that it's really hard to research this kind of topic in the west#Most of the good resources supposedly come from China and are not translated#If they're even available in the west

What we liked about it: Such a fun and clever crossover with Star Trek - it fits perfectly in the ST universe, and can also be read fandom-blind. The characters have such different histories but are still so clearly /them/. It's funny and cute, with a healthy dose of angst and hurt, too. There's a very interesting undercurrent of mystery, adventure, and discovery.

Read on Ao3
What we liked about it: The premise alone is enough said, but it also had some sweet fluff mixed in with the hilarity.
Mamma Mia! (Rated: M)
By @ladynoirfanao3
Tags: Cat Walker, unplanned pregnancy, aged-up, identity reveal
Summary:
When Marinette discovers she is pregnant, she is distressed to realize any of the three men she slept with in the recent past could be the father; Chat Noir, Ladybug’s partner and ex with whom she had gone through a tearful breakup - the mysterious Cat Walker, Ladybug’s rebound - or Adrien Agreste, Marinette’s current boyfriend.
But does she quickly discover all three potential fathers are, in fact, the same man? No, of course not; where would be the fun in that?
Read on Ao3
What we liked about it: What a better way to play with all the different tropes! Identity shenanigans galore.
What We're Made Of (Rated: M)
By @uptoolateart
Tags: I have spent the last two years thinking of nothing but sentibeings, I'm taking the sentibeing idea as far as possible
Summary:
Humanity has just survived the apocalypse – with a little magic, and the help of several hundred senti-soldiers. Now, they need to figure out what to do with them…and what to do with the news that the Mayor of London is a sentibeing himself.
Meanwhile, Hugo, the twins, and other children of sentibeings have developed magical powers. But with the trauma of the war still fresh in people’s minds, prejudices are forming and tensions are riding high.
Now, Adrien, Marinette and Felix – and some unexpected friends – must band together again to face old demons and find a way to move forward at last.
Read on Ao3
What we liked about it: Cerebral, emotional, inspiring, and always inventive. I love it when a well-written story expands the lore in a creative, yet plausible way. There’s a direct line from canon to what this story and its siblings in the Breaking Free series do, and it’s a gift to the fandom.

Reworking ML's Power System
Now that I've ranted about all the ways I think the Miraculous don't make sense, it's only fair I tell you what I would've done instead.
My goal here is for each Miraculous to have its own distinct identity and a broad range of powers all built around the same theme, and to have as little overlap with the others as possible. That way we don't have to bring in a new character for every single power under the sun. Each Miraculous would also then have a lot of ways to interact with its user's character development, something I feel was sorely lacking from the actual show.
The Forces of Magic
I know what I said in the last one about how I like the idea of the Miraculous being based on abstract concepts, but the kwami actually being embodiments of said abstract concepts in universe doesn't really make a lot of sense from a worldbuilding perspective. I mean, the kwami don't really make sense from a worldbuilding perspective in a lot of ways, but that's a story for another time.
So, instead, the kwami are conduits of the primordial magic that holds the universe in balance; think the Cosmic Forces from World of Warcraft and you're basically on the right track. In this world, there's eight Fundamental Forces of magic, organized into four equal and opposite pairs: Reality (Creation/Destruction), Structure (Subjection/Transmission), Information (Illusion/Vision), and Substance (Protection/Evolution).
Ladybug
The Ladybug is the Miraculous of Creation, and is basically a combination of the canon Ladybug, Goat, Peacock, and Dragon. Kiiiinda.
The Ladybug's most basic power is to create an inanimate object. The user can either call for their power and get something random (actually random, not "seems random but turns out to be the exact object needed to win"), or they can create something specific, like Adrien did with his Lucky Charm in Reflekdoll. From there, the user learns to create things that are a little more abstract, like flames, bursts of lightning, or gales of wind, and finally living beings—usually barely sentient minions with a single, simple goal. Unlike with the canon Peacock Miraculous though, the creature's life isn't tied to an object, and there's no convenient way for the user to control or dispel their creation. They have to rely on the Miraculous that actually have the power to do that, the Bee and Black Cat respectively. The most talented Ladybug wielders can create beings so complex as to be indistinguishable from humans, but only a scarce few of those are born in any generation. Marinette is one of them, unsurprisingly.
The Ladybug works most effectively in the hands of someone who is brave and has a lot of trust in themselves, and will backfire if the user second-guesses what they're doing. The logic here is that perfect is the enemy of done.
Cat
The Cat grants the power of Destruction, and is used to well, destroy stuff. Very straightforward, I know. Jokes aside, the Black Cat can destroy literally anything, both concrete and abstract. It can bring solid objects to rubble, disrupt and cancel magical abilities, break magical bonds, and even do things like erasing memories from the minds of others. (Thanks for canonizing that last one, S6!) This makes it a very powerful tool and, together with the Turtle, a check against the power of all the other Miraculous.
The Cat's powers are fueled by negative emotion, especially hatred. For the user to destroy something, they must well and truly want it gone.
Alongside the Ladybug, the Cat forms the Reality pair, which when used in tandem can reshape the universe.
Bee
With this one I'm using the more conventional meaning of the word "subjection". To put it simply, the Bee gives its user the power to control anything. This manifests in telekinesis, in bestowing matter with instruction such that for example a weapon can only be wielded by a chosen master, and finally in controlling the minds of animals and other people.
This Miraculous works most readily in the hands of those who value order and act for the good of others, and will go haywire if the user acts selfishly and tries to upset the balance of the world for personal gain. If the other forces of magic don't particularly care about moral alignment, Subjection has to: rules must apply equally to everyone if they are to mean anything. On the flipside, the Bee Miraculous can end up empowering extreme zealotry, and the user must never fall into the trap of becoming a pitiless crusader who viciously hunts down the nonbelievers.
Butterfly
This one would see one of the most radical changes, incorporating the abilities of the canon Butterfly, Horse, Rabbit, and Dog.
The equal and opposite of the Bee, the Butterfly is the Miraculous of Transmission, and governs change and movement in all its forms: of matter, of ideas, of emotions, of state, of magic, and of time.
The most straightforward of these is the movement of matter. The user can open portals to teleport themselves or other people, and can also teleport objects away from someone else.
Next up there's the movement of ideas and emotions. Butterfly users can feel and influence the emotional state of others, read their thoughts, and communicate telepathically.
Then there's the change of state and of magic, which is only available to advanced users. This manifests in transmutation of objects and shapeshifting, and in turning the emotions and internal motivations of other people into magical power (akumatization). Unlike the Miraculous, akumatization can only give one power at a time, and the user has little control over what the power is going to be, so they have to choose who to transform very carefully.
Finally we have movement in time, but like with the Ladybug's ability to create life, only a scarce few who can actually use it are born in any generation. I like to think this is because while time travel sounds straightforward, few people can actually conceptualize it and just end up moving in space instead.
The Butterfly works best when the user frees themselves of mental barriers. Unfortunately, this makes it prone to falling into the hands of people who have no scruples and for whom the rules are just suggestions.
Fox
The Miraculous of Illusion, this is another straightforward one, giving the user the ability to fool the minds and senses of others. Aside from vanilla illusions, it also has the power to make someone else believe anything the Fox user says is true, as well as induce hallucinations of all kinds. It can also conceal things, such as allowing the user to become invisible.
For this power to work, the user needs to trust it completely, and get into a mindset where they truly believe their own lie. If they acknowledge at any point that it's not real, the illusion breaks down.
Peacock
With its canon concept going to the Butterfly and its abilities to the Ladybug, this is essentially a new one altogether, and I'm going with the power I initially thought it was going to have.
The equal and opposite of the Fox, the Peacock has the power of Observation. Whoever uses it can see into both the future and the past, find the answer to any question, remotely observe and track other people, be a living lie detector, and see through any illusion, including the glamour that conceals Miraculous users' identities.
The Peacock works best if the user keeps an open mind. If they go in thinking they already know the answer or expecting to see something, their powers will fail.
Together with the Fox, the Peacock forms the Information pair. Whoever has access to both is a one-person Ministry of Truth—while this pair can't actually change reality like the Ladybug and Cat can, it can change how reality is perceived.
Turtle
The Turtle is the Miraculous of Protection, and is the immovable object to everyone else's unstoppable force. In its most basic form, the Turtle's power creates a shield that protects someone from a physical threat. With time and experience, a Turtle user can make themselves and others invulnerable, imbue objects with durability, deplete objects of their momentum, and prevent others from entering a space or taking a certain action.
The Turtle's powers are fueled by the user's will. The logic is that the ability to protect something comes from how much the user wants to cling on to that thing.
Crane
I considered two animals for this one, the crane and the rabbit, but I eventually chose the crane, for two reasons. One, in Asian cultures the crane and the turtle are both associated with longevity; there's a saying in Japanese that goes something like "the crane lives for a hundred years, and the turtle for a thousand". This makes the crane a great choice for a counterpart to the Turtle. Two, Kagami's last name contains the Japanese word for crane, "tsuru". Okay, the second one is not that important, I just thought it was a fun Easter egg.
Anyway, this is the Miraculous of Evolution, and it has the power I feel should've gone to the canon Rooster: upgrading the user's already existing abilities and that of other people, including other Miraculous users. This also manifests into minor healing and restoration abilities, but this is far from the reset button the Ladybug and Cat would provide. For one, the Crane's ability is much more localized. For another thing, the Miracle Cure brings something back exactly the way it was, while the Crane brings something to its optimal state.
The Crane's abilities are fueled by the power of love. Aww.
Unifications
When used together, two Miraculous (or three, or four, or five...) can unlock a new range of powers that is a combination of their existing domains. This can be done by wearing both Miraculous like in canon, or more simply by combining one's power with that of another wielder. The second option is considered the preferable way to unify—for one person to wear multiple Miraculous would require a good spiritual balance that most people don't have. Those who unify still have to be in sync with each other, though, otherwise the unification might either not work, backfire, harm the wielder, or damage one or both Miraculous. I like to think this is how the Peacock would come to be broken.
Some common unifications include:
the Ladybug and the Cat, which re-shape reality;
the Ladybug and the Turtle, which creates an object that has the power to protect whoever wears it from certain types of magic (basically, the canon anti-akuma charms);
the Ladybug and the Butterfly, which creates a physical manifestation, usually an object, of the emotions of whoever it's used on (the canon Pig Miraculous, kinda);
the Ladybug and the Bee, which creates a non-sentient minion that the users can command (the canon sentimonsters, kinda);
the Ladybug and the Crane, which creates an object guaranteed to solve whatever problem the wielders are currently having (the canon Lucky Charm);
the Butterfly and the Turtle, which creates a time loop (the canon Second Chance);
the Butterfly and the Peacock, which gives the user(s) the ability of astral projection;
the Cat and the Butterfly, which opens a portal that disintegrates everything falling into it;
The Miracle Box
Unlike in canon, the Miracle Box is a magical object in and of itself. It's bound to the Guardian, who essentially has admin powers over the box and all the Miraculous inside, and can: locate Miraculous (Observation), summon Miraculous and the Miracle Box to their location (Transmission), prevent certain people from using the Miraculous or opening the Miracle Box (Protection), assign Miraculous to specific people so that only they can activate it, and making sure that the Miracle Box can only open by their or their chosen successor's hand (Subjection), repair damaged Miraculous (Evolution), and even sever the bond between a rogue wielder and their Miraculous (Destruction).
Alas, Fu never had access to these powers. For security reasons, the ceremony that binds the Box to a new Guardian can only be performed by the current Guardian or, in the absence of one, by all off the eight kwami. With the previous Guardian dead and Nooroo lost, there was simply no way to give Fu the Guardianship. As Guardian-in-training he was allowed to open the box and give out Miraculous, but nothing more than that.

Zoé Lee - An Analysis (Part 1)
It's been quite a while since I have been wanting to do an analysis inspired on miraculous. Today, I decided to make one inspired by the most divisive character in the fandom: Zoe Lee.
I already talked a little about her in my asks to @nerd-chocolate
This first part will be about her role pre-canon.
Just a small warning: Zoe is a character that I grew to like overtime. So, this analysis might not be the best if you are a Zoe hater. I am trying to analyze her based on a more neutral view, but there are sections were I say my opinion.
So, I ask you two things: one, if you hate Zoe, be respectful in the comments. If you can't, just ignore the post.
Pre-Canon
First, I think it's important to say that... we don't know much about the process of creation of the majority of the miraculous characters. We only know about part of Marinette's long history, and some things of Felix/Adrien.
But, as for the rest of the class... we know nothing. And Zoe is included. We don't know for sure where the idea came from, the inspirations, what changed during her creation, early sketches... nothing.
A lot about the creation of miraculous was never revealed to us... and, with this little, I managed to come up with my own theories...
One of the first pieces of information of miraculous that we have is on the quantix kids. At first, Marinette and Adrien would be a part of a group of superheroes that didn't use miraculouses, but had other sources of power.
This heroes included Kid Mime, Gavroche and Melodie...
Although we can't be 100% sure of who became who eventually, the fandom usually assumes Gavroche became Nino or Max, Kid Mime became Nathaniel, and Melodie became Chloe.
Later concepts show a blonde character with long hair that seemed to be very nice and friends with Marinette.
I think this concept makes very clear that she would have become Chloe eventually. But, as you guys can see, she is nothing like Chloe personality wise... and she has longer hair...
Am I implying that Chloe's original concepts might have been used as a reference for Zoe in the future? I can't say for sure, but, it's definetely a possibility.
Either way, new ideas were brought into the table, the plot suffered changes, and the show we know and have a love/hate relationship with started.
But, when season 1 ended, the fandom faced the first big hiatus...
I was very small back then, but I remember how active it was. People made comics, made theories on how the characters would be like, who would have the remaining miraculouses on the box (back when we didn't know the chinese zodiacs were a part of it) and how the show would continue.
We were sure season 2 would have the reveal, Love Square becoming canon, Lila being a new threat that would change the game, new permant holders changing the dynamic between the heroes, Master Fu giving us answers, and a more mature tone...
Well, none of it ended up happening, and it's a bit sad that nothing that we as fans predicted about season 2 happened... with the exception of new heroes.
They didn't work as we expect, but, they were still there. Back then, we had many theories as to who would use the remaining miraculouses...
Some theorized Sabrina or Nathaniel could get the fox, or that new characters would become the new permanent holders of the miraculous (because people thought Astruc said once that 'those that were akumatized weren't worthy of having a miraculous'... he didn't say that, I think, but, who cares now?).
A few of us already guesses Alya would have the fox, and Chloe the bee. (There were fanarts of Nino with the turtle, but, the majority of the fandom didn't put much faith into the idea because they thought it seemed too fanfic-y... look at how the tables had turned).
Then, they started using this concept of the Bee holder as a reference for new theories...
Some insisted on saying that it was Chloe, others said it was Rose, others that it would be a new character... but, some were a bit more creative... they said that the holder of the bee was Chloe's twin sister who lived with their mother.
With this theory becoming more and more popular, a friend of Astruc, who had acess to the plans of next season in advance, and even made fanart of Adrien and Mari with kwagatamas way before season 2 (if I remember correctly, I might be confusing them with somebody else) posted an art of this character.
Amber Bourgeois, Chloe's twin sister who would become the holder of the bee...
Eventually, it was revealed this was all a joke and Chloe would become the holder of the bee.
Even though Amber wasn't created by Thomas, and she never even happened... it's a bit hard not believing she was part of the inspiration behind Zoe...
She uses a black jacket, and a bee shirt underneath.
This whole section is here to say that: we don't know what was the process behind Zoe's creation and my theory is probably fake... but there are some very interesting coincidences here that we can't ignore.
The first official sneek peak we had at Zoe's creation was during the hiatus of seasons 3 and 4.
The fandom was feral... and not on a good way.
Many were bitter at how Chloe's situation was handle, and started to hate this "replacement" and blame her for what happened to Chloe.
I will be honest, I always hated what they did to Chloe, because, her arc is messy, she is a character that is inconsistent, and she doesn't make sense. It seems like there are many Chloe's that swap with each other before the episodes... that is, before season 4 and 5 when they literally made her one of the worst people in the planet.
But, I literally had no idea what to think of Zoe.
Then the trailers of Queen Banana started to come out, and people started to spit even more venom, write fake leaked scripts of how her debut would be and more...
But, I kind of understand why people thought that, because, from what the trailers were hinting, Zoe would receive her miraculous the same episoded she debuted, because the production of this season was a mess and so was the Chronological order.
Then, a new episode was revealed: Sole Crusher.
And the interesting part was that no one know what to few about the episode. Everyone seemed to just feel nothing about it. It wouldn't be good, nor bad, just meh... but that's for the next analysis.

I absolutely completely loved this beautiful fanart of Miraculous Ladybug from the DjWifi ship of the characters Nino Lahiffe and Alya Cesaire together but above all because I really love it absolutely completely how in the Alya and Nino exchanged their Miraculous but above all because I love the idea that Nino took the name of Dj Fox while using the Miraculous of Zorro while I also like to imagine that Alya took the name of Wifi Turtle while she uses the Miraculous of Turtle but at the same time also and above all because it reminds me of the episode of Reflekta when Marinette and Adrien changed their Miraculous and Marinette became Lady Noir while Adrien became Mister Bug but above all because it really gives me a lot of tenderness but really a lot to see how they 2 are affectionately holding hands in this beautiful fanart of them together and above all because I really can't wait to see them again during season 6 of the Miraculous Ladybug series in every possible way

By the way, these beautiful fanart of them are not mine and the credits are not for me, but I will let you know that right here I am going to leave you the link of the real creator on Tumblr.

The Turtle Armour-Up could be called Hardening.
Though I have to say that the propose Fox idea feels remarkably close to the Pig's power. The main caveat I can think of that would differentiate them from each other is that Gift is just the Thing They Want Most illusion-type thing, whereas this proposed idea could possibly grab from any source. Which could mean calling it Mirror Image or Fata Morgana (which is a particular type of mirage, though the real ones tend to be distorted beyond immediate recognition) or something.
On one hand 'hardening' makes sense on the other hand imagining a bunch of teenagers saying that with a straight face is unlikely.
Oh yeah no like. Both the Fox and Pig create visions that are pulled from the target.
But the Pig is more exclusively a 'hearts' desire' thing, while the Fox will pull from anything. This is on me for using the Emilie example but to continue the Rena vs. Hawkmoth she could also conjure images of Adrien or Gabe's parents (or Emilie's since they're in Gabe's head) or a childhood friend or some annoying coworker from 20 years ago or anything.
Rena can also make these Illusions do whatever she wants. Like she could roll off what she pulls from the mind, but she could also take control and have Illusion!Emilie call Gabriel a bitch ass motherfucker.

Miraculous: Magical Connections Power Changes
I went over certain power changes briefly in my backstory rewrites, but I wanted to go into more detail as well as add a specific link to the master post I have pinned
Let's get into it (keep in mind, certain things won't be said to avoid spoilers even if you're reading this after things have been revealed)
No Changes:
Rabbit Miraculous (Only it's concept which is now Time)
Turtle Miraculous
Monkey Miraculous
Mouse Miraculous
Eagle Miraculous
The Prodigious
Weapon Changes:
Goat/Rooster/Dog/Horse Miraculous:
All four of the original weapons (Paintbrush, fountain pen, ball, and horseshoe respectively) were not good weapons, so I changed them to keep the same feeling as the original but actually work as proper weapons
The Goat now has a bat, the Rooster has a dagger, the Dog has a flail, and the Horse has a tekkō (the tekkō is similar to that of brass knuckles and resembles a horseshoe)
Pig/Snake Miraculous:
Neither of these weapons (tambourine and lyre respectively) fit and unlike the other four, they aren't even on brand with the power or animal, so they've been changed to be good weapons and fit with them better
The Pig now has a rapier, a weapon that needs precision to use as it is a stabbing, not a slicing weapon, and the Snake now has a whip, a fitting choice for it as it resembles a snake tail (both of these also play into their powers)
Minor Changes/Tweaks:
Cat/Bee/Horse/Fox Miraculous:
When the user activates their Cataclysm/Venom/Voyage/Mirage, it won't start their timer until the use it, meaning they can also deactivate it after it's been primed (This is only the case for these four as these do not immediately activate)
Bee Miraculous:
The user sets the time for Venom to last, ranging from seconds to hours to days (depending on the experience of the user), however if the user doesn't have a set time it'll simply be "Indefinite" as it'll either disappear when the user wants it to or when the user detransforms (or an outside force frees them)
Cat Miraculous:
We've seen before that the Cataclysm can spread; however it can only spread if it is the same item, so it could be spread further and faster along something like a billboard, but the moment the user's hand is not touching something it'll stop
Dog Miraculous:
It's not a simple touch anymore because it was too easy to do accidentally, now the user most use the end of their flail (the weapon was changed) and say "Sniff" to activate it, and "Fetch" to retrieve it like in canon
Fox Miraculous:
We've seen this in canon, but it's never been clarified, so I wanted too here: it's possible to create a "scene" of illusions which will not all disappear when one is disrupted (ie; an illusion of Ladybug and Chat won't both be disrupted if the Ladybug illusion is)
Ladybug Miraculous:
Very small tweak that the power adapts not only to the user but to the villain, while this is sort of true in canon, I wanted that to be more apparent here
For example, if Marinette were to fight Mr. Pigeon, she'd get a coin for the vending machine, if it were Adrien, he'd get a clothes pin because of his allergies and fight him head on, if it were Alya, she'd get a bird call to confuse the pigeons and so on
Peafowl Miraculous:
When an Amok uses negative emotions it creates a Sentimonster, whereas if it uses positive emotions, it creates a Sentibeing
The name of the Miraculous has also been changed to Peafowl
Major Changes:
The "Miraculous Ladybug" Ability:
It still exists but in concept but in concept alone, the entire power has been reworked to be less overpowered and not be an undo button at the end of each battle
The first change is that, to use it, it can only be used by combining the magic of the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous (not unification, but two holders combining their powers)
The second is that it can only fix damage directly caused by magic, so it'll put the animal's that Animan controlled back in the zoo, but if Ladybug ripped out a streetlight it wouldn't fix it since, while it was her enhanced strength that did it, it wasn't magic in nature
The third is that this power takes a lot of energy from both Ladybug and Chat Noir AND Tikki and Plagg, meaning this isn't something that can be done constantly without taking a physical toll on the users
Butterfly Miraculous:
The thing is, there wasn't anything wrong with them before, but since I wanted to reduce the Ladybug Miraculous to not being a magic fix-all, I had to change how the power worked
Akuma and Kamiko are the same and work identically with the exception that Kamiko target positive emotions and Akuma target negative emotions, so Akuma aren't just a reverse of a positive power because none of the Miraculous are inherently good or bad
Second, if the Butterfly wielder recalls their Akuma/Kamiko, it'll stay powered and can be reused, however if it is forceable removed (Ie; Ladybug/Chat Noir breaking the item it's possessing) the magic will disappear completely; however, either way once the Akuma/Kamiko is no longer possessing an item, all the magic disappears and everything that needs the magic to work will go back to normal (ie; Reflekta's clones, Syren's water, and Kung Food's mind control)
While this isn't really a change, I wanted to clarify that if someone is unwilling Akumatized OR Kamikotized, they'll only remember fragments or it'll be fuzzy, in other words they don't just have a gap in their memory, rather it's just not a clear image of what happened
Dragon Miraculous:
The Dragon's power was one of the MOST powerful in canon, and since it was three-in-one, I needed to fix that
The power is now "Storm Dragon" which transforms their body into a cloud-like state in which they can control wind, water, and lightning; however, as a tradeoff, they cannot physically interact with anything while in this state
This basically puts them into a ghost-like state, however magic can still affect them the same way their magic can affect others
Goat Miraculous:
Originally the power was being able to create any one object (or set of objects) but not only does that directly interfere with the Ladybug, given it's, y'know, the concept of creation, plus it just being an overall boring power, I changed it to be "Magic Repel"
This makes it so any and all physical, mental, and magical attacks don't do anything, however this only lasts for five minutes (regardless of their timer) and they still feel the effects even if it leaves no physical/mental damage
Ox Miraculous:
I changed the power because I decided to make it better and give it to the Goat instead, plus I wanted to go with a popular headcanon/theory for it instead
Stampede increases the Ox holder's strength, stamina, and speed to superhuman level, allowing them to act as a one man stampede
Rooster Miraculous:
Like the Dragon Miraculous, the Rooster's canon ability is too overpowered, especially since it can quite literally cross dimensions
To play into the whole "Mother Hen" phrase, I gave the Rooster the ability to heal any and all injuries of a person under the pretense that they could otherwise heal from it, so it can't be used to bring people back from the dead or save them if they otherwise cannot be saved
It also cannot heal emotional, mental, or spiritual damage unless it was directly caused by a magical source, so it's mostly for physical injuries
Snake Miraculous:
To keep from the ability crossing over into Fluff's concept of time, I changed the power to instead focus more on the user's true intuition
Ontological shows the user anywhere from a few to thousands of possible future timelines, forcing them to figure out what the best course of action is at any given moment, this will also update whenever something drastic enough happens to change their entire future (ie; Ladybug's identity is exposed)
(The name Ontological comes from the Ontological Paradox in which a future event causes a past event which therefore causes a future event)
Tiger Miraculous:
I liked the idea of the Tiger being invisibility, so I went with it (especially since the Ox now had super strength)
While invisible, the user's heat signature is also gone, and they also become much quieter, however they aren't silent

What miraculous do you think are the ideal matches for the madrigals?
Also I love your art
It depends on if you want to go by a strict gift basis or personality. Some of those aren't exclusive though-
TLDR-
Julieta- Wayzz, Alma- Nooroo or Liiri, Pepa- Daizzi/Longg, Bruno- Sass or Tikki, Felix- Diazzi, Augustin- Kalkki, Isabela- Pollen, Dolores- Longg or Barkk, Luisa- Pollen & Duusu, Camilo- Pollen, Antonio- Duusu/unclear, and Mirabel- any of them really.
Bonus Turtle Julieta who didn't make it into AVB- Her name is Hicotea

Julieta for example I think would do well with the turtle both because it's the closest to her gift (since besides the ladybug there isn't a healing power) and I think she and Wayzz would get along well.
Alma would theoretically either have the butterfly (Matriarch deal) or the Ladybug and Cat. But I don't think she'd get along with any of the kwamis very well. Maybe Liiri, but she'd not here.
Pepa would power wise have the dragon, and I think in personality it fits okay. But I would personally either give her Wayzz or Daizzi. Possibly also Orikko.
Bruno would have either Fluff or Sass based on his gift and I think he'd get along with both. I also think he and Tikki would get along (hence Cochineal) and Plagg would have a similar dynamic with him that he does with Adrien, albeit less parental/familial, more platonic. I think he and Mullo would also get along.
Felix would get along with Daizzi, Ziggy, or Orikko. All three seem to thrive on holders with high energy and positive attitude
Augustin could do well with Wayzz and possible Kaalki, since she's probably help with his clumsiness through sheer determination. As well as Stompp who would go "Fuck it, lets just throw shit." I gave him Sass in AVB since I figured he'd be willing to try a million times to get it right, but its not my fist pick.
Isabela would probably do best with Pollen, both because haha Bee, but also- Pollen is a very loyal bee. She calls Isabela her queen but if her queen wants to throw color bombs and do fancy acrobatics with vines? Bravo! Keep going. I stand by the idea that Isabela and Longg could never really get along. Second choices would be Xuppu or Trixx since they'd encourage her to have fun but Trixx for sure would not let her get away with being bitchy. Tikki would also probably do her good.
Dolores could still do well with Mullo at the best of times but I'd be more inclined to give her Pollen, Longg, or Barkk. Pollen and Long would be very respectful of her sensitive hearing while still helping push her, and Barkk would bite anyone being too loud. She is very loyal. Dolores would probably also do well with Plagg for the simple fact he is high demand for food, but very apathetic the rest of the time.
Luisa would match with Roaar in terms of gifts but personality wise I think Pollen, Duusu, Kalkki, or Barkk. With I think Pollen or Duusu being the strongest two.
Camilo would match with Trixx for powers but I wasn't kidding in A Lawless Cat when I said I thought he'd make a good Bee. They're leaders and need to hold attention, but can get in a good sting if you turn your back. Other pick would be Orikko.
Antonio I think does well with the Peacock but otherwise he's a bit to young to know what other miraculous he would thrive with. His compassion would potentially also do well with the butterfly.
And now Mirabel, the character who i think has the widest picks.
Sticking to Cannon Encanto Mirabel I still think she'd have the widest variety. Obviously Nooroo is the top pick, Mirabel likes to help people but most of the time she's teaching them to help themselves first. Even to her own detriment. I think she and Tikki would thrive as two creative spirits, same with Ziggy. Her compassion and good understanding of feelings and others, would make her do well with Duusu. Plagg would encourage ehr to fight for herself, Liiri would want her to break free. Xuupu, Trixx, Orikko, and Diazzi would help her bring fun back into her life as well as spread her strengths to others. She's intuitive enough to work well with Sass, Roarr would push her to take power into her hands and be heard. Stompp would teach her to defend herself. The only kwami I think she wouldn't get on perfectly with is Longg, but even then it wouldn't be particularly bad. It's just that- Mirabel has specifically gone her whole life seeing herself as Imperfect which would strain her connection to him.

Finally got time to watch the teaser of CARTOON IN DANGANRONPA next episode.
And, as any normal person would do: I decided to make my "idea" version of a "V3-esque" CiD!
So, I present you all:
CARTOONS IN DANGANRONPA V3 - SHOWS OVER!!
PROTAGONIST:
→ Marinette Dupain-Chen = Ultimate Fashion Designer
HELPER:
→ Kirby Ben Tennynson = Ultimate Hero
SECOND HELPER:
→ April O'Neil = Ultimate Mentalist
ANTAGONIST:
→ Kevin Levin = Ultimate Delinquent
SECOND ANTAGONIST:
→ Yumi = Ultimate Guitarist
OTHER STUDENTS:
→ Milo Murphy = Ultimate Lucky Student
→ Danny Phantom = Ultimate Paranormal Investigator
→ "Irmão do Jorel"/"Jorel's Brother" = Ultimate ???
→ Adrien Agrest = Ultimate Model
→ Michelangelo Hamato = Ultimate Ninja Turtle
→ Diego = Ultimate Biologist
→ Gwen Tennynson = Ultimate Alien Magician
→ Kim Possible = Ultimate Spy
→ Dora = Ultimate Explorer
→ Ami = Ultimate Singer
→ Becky Botsford "Wordgirl" = Ultimate Linguist
OBSERVATIONS:
→ Marinette's obsession with Adrien is noticed and called out by the rest of the gang. Such an obsession may even prove detrimental in certain class trials.
→ Curiosity for those who are not Brazilian. NOBODY KNOWS THE NAME OF JOREL'S BROTHER, it is literally a gag in the show that every time he is going to speak something happens that gets in the way.
→ On the same note as above, he has Ultimate "???" because he shouldn't be in the room! Jorel's Brother is not an Ultimate student, Jorel is (ultimate basketball star)! He just got lost from his family and ended up in this mess. (at least as far as he remembers)
→ Milo is the only survivor in mind that I have so far because that boy lives the "Final Destination" daily (that doesn't mean he's innocent)
→ The original casting I had for the AU included characters such as: Yugo (Wakfu), Steven (Steven Universe), Monica (Monica's Gang) and Buttercup (The Powerpuff Girls). However, I changed my mind so as not to be confused with a casting of other people who tried this idea, and because I wanted to put something a little more original in the mix.

TA claimed that miraculous are not indestructible and that the line in Queen Wasp was an error. However, it's hard to believe it when every occasions where miraculous is destroyed/broken, it was using Cataclysm (The bee in Queen Wasp, the rabbit in Timetagger though only mentioned, and the turtle in Optigami)
While the first two can be seen as situational, as Chat was there to fight the bee and the rabbit was an accident, the turtle raised that doubt, since why would LB go all the way to Chat to Cataclysm it if she can just destroy it herself?
I believe the official story behind the peacock getting broken is that it happened in the below scene, so the show does support the idea that things other than a cataclysm can destroy a miraculous:
[Image description: a scene from Fu's memories taken from the episode Feast. In this memory, we see Fu jumping over a chasm full of lava. Feast is seen falling into that chasm along with the guardian's Grimoire. The episode implies that the butterfly and the peacock also fell into the chasm and we do see the miracle box open with several miraculous flying through the air.]
We're going to ignore the fact that the Grimoire should have burned up in the lava and focus on the miraculous-based lore implication instead.
I don't hate the idea that something like lava can destroy a miraculous since that's not exactly an abundant and easily-accessible resource, but I still wouldn't go that route with the lore because it raises questions like: why did the butterfly survive undamaged? And why was the peacock only minorly damaged and not destroyed? And what kind of things can destroy a miraculous? Is it just lava or are their other things that can do the trick? Or can normal things only damage a miraculous, but only a cataclysm can destroy them? If normal, worldly things can hurt the miraculous, then do they get damaged by the passage of time?
I could keep going, but I think I've made my point. It's just so much better for the lore to be that miraculous are generally indestructible with Plagg's power being the only exception. I genuinely think that was the original lore. My money is that Feast was a retcon as they probably hadn't fully figured out the peacock's backstory prior to season three and it would be far better for the lore to be what it was stated to be in Queen Wasp:
Cat Noir: I bet the Akuma's in her Miraculous. Ladybug: That makes sense, but Miraculous are indestructible. We will need your Cataclysm to release the Akuma.
Quick reminder: Queen Wasp came a full season before Feast, that's why my money is on retcon. I'm not even sure if they'd decided that the peacock was damaged before season two since it's not show to be damaged when we first see it back in Volpina and that is a horribly missed opportunity for quality, subtle foreshadowing (ignoring the whole issue of Plagg somehow not being able to sense that the peacock miraculous is RIGHT THERE and - as far as we know - not tied to a holder):
[Image description: the contents of the secret safe behind Emilie's picture. We see a brochure for Tibet, a picture of Emilie, the fully intact peacock miraculous, and the guardian's Grimoire. Plagg is also in the image as this comes from the scene where he helps Adrien break into the safe.]
Meanwhile the Evolution flashback - and every other peacock moment I could think to check - shows it to clearly be damaged as you would expect:
[Image description: the peacock miraculous sitting in Gabriel's hand, clearly broken]
Admittedly Evolution shows us the back while Volpina shows us the front and it's possible that the damage was somehow only on the back in spite of the whole falling into lava thing. There's also the issue that the miraculous design changes from nine feathers to five, implying that the thing in the safe may not even be the peacock? Idk, it's weird. Everything about the peacock story line feels slapdash up to and including how it got damaged in the first place. I think they did have some general ideas that never changed, but I don't think they'd properly worked them out to the level they should have to avoid inconsistencies.
To be fair, if this was the most inconsistent the lore got, I wouldn't have much to talk about because it's not terrible. The pre-Adrien part of the peacock story is decent enough for TV (which is part of the reason I don't watch much TV, lol).
TV shows have pretty limited writing schedules, so it's not uncommon for more minor errors like this to pop up, especially when the writers have no idea how many seasons they're going to have to write, which makes it hard to tell a story well. The writers often don't have the knowledge or even time needed to polish things to a mirror shine. Remember, almost nothing else in the production line can start until the writing is done, so writing is generally a really small early part of total production time. Just the nature of the beast.
