Darcy (stoicaly): She's not like other ladies. She doesn't want me for my money.
Darcy (tearfully): She just doesn't want me.

Because I'm (again) reading too many Pride & Prejudice fanfics here some memes.
The colonel is always placing bets on when Darcy will propose, and he always lose.
In a lot of fanfictions Darcy is equal to himself and always outdone himself to make Elizabeth hates him more.
And as readers, it can be very frustrating sometimes.
When they are courting at Pemberley and Georgiana is like "I like her I want her as my sister" and Darcy is like "well in fact I already proposed to her but she has every reason to refuse because..."
And at end of his story, Georgiana is taken aback by his stupidity.
Just Lady Catherine sending an angry letter when learning that Darcy is marrying someone else than his daughter.
Anne, in a lot of fic, doesn't even care about this marriage and is happy when he's marrying Elizabeth.
And the best for the end, Caroline ruining her reputation by making a fuss when learning about Darcy and Elizabeth.
Bonus point for when it happens in the middle of a big event where all Town is here, and when everyone sees her losing her mind and signing her social death.

Don’t mind me, just out here creating Jane Austen memes out of Good Omens stills while processing season 2 (Go watch it!). I’m sure Aziraphale would approve.
Pride and Prejudice x Good Omens
Just like Crowley, Elizabeth knows what’s coming, and she wishes she didn’t have to be there.
I wonder what Wickham’s punishment in the Good Omens hell would have looked like.
“Ah! Jane, I take your place now, and you must go lower, because I am a married woman.” I kinda love how obnoxious married Lydia is.
Truly one of my favourite moments in Austen’s novels, and any love story ever, is Mr. Darcy declaring Elizabeth “tolerable” and looking at her again to confirm his original verdict, only to go: “Daaamn. I was wrong.” (Also, the things I’d do to get a version of Darcy that does the Good Omens apology dance for Elizabeth.)
Thankfully, 10k a year helped Mrs. Bennet to change her mind about Darcy again very quickly.
The biggest change I’ve gone through since first getting into Austen was definitely going from loving Mr. Bennet because of his sarcasm to thinking he’s actually kind of awful.
Caroline Bingley, the original pick-me girl?

One of my absolute favourite things about P&P 2005 is that during the first proposal, the moment when Mr Darcy gets irate is when Elizabeth mentions Mr Wickham. Up until then, he kept his distance, was relatively cool, calm, and colected while she absolutely trashed him.
Elizabeth: You are the worst person ever. You hurt my sister, you hurt your friend, you insulted me.
Mr Darcy: I have my reasons.
Elizabeth: Not to mention what you did to Wickham...
Mr "Insult me, insult my behaviour, loathe me, all is fine, just don't breathe the same air as Wickham or I'll lose my breeches" Darcy (in a jealous fit): Mr Wickham? Wickham? WICKHAM?!
