#Project progress

Yesterday's quick project was a garden flag. Some of my color options were limited but I'm very pleased with how it turned out.

Also finished quilting the cactus quilt so now I just need to do some thread clean up and make the binding. I think I will skip quilting the border.

new ears AND new paint! he’s gonna get his faceplate painted white soon to cover up her sun damage, as well :3

the backing fabric i use for my ears is this very soft minky fabric that is so nice to pet and rub, 10/10 definitely recommend using minky fabric for custom ears

it's going well so far except for the hour of revisions required to adjust a corset bodice to the concept of top surgery but we got there in the end

Remember that Wally Darling ball gown project I've been working on? Well, I haven't forgotten it. It's just been a bit hectic over here.

But, I do have a few bits of good news! I found a good amount of fabric in just the perfect shade of yellow for like, 10 bucks while I was thrifting. And it's like, yards and yards and yards of fabric.

And, on a trip before that (to the same store, no less), I found a crinoline!!!!! Oh, and on another trip, I got a battery powered sewing machine! And it works!!!!!!

And today, well.....

THE SHOES CAME IN!!!!!!

Now, I'm a couple of steps closer to being able to cosplay as Wally!

I have two more pieces of hair left, and my instinct to hold it up to see the progress is to place my finger in the opening of the plushie so I can see it without my hands in the way. If I do that now, I have to risk possibly stabbing my finger with one of the 29 T-pins that are holding this thing together.

So, when I was planning cosplay stuff for this coming Dragoncon, I wanted to do an Eddie cosplay. Because I've never seen it done and I'm a sucker for any opportunity to do something unusual (and because I have absolutely zero chill), I decided this absolutely had to include the guitar.

For various reasons, a real one is not a good option. I needed something preferably both very lightweight and able to fit in a suitcase.

Once it's done and painted, I'll make a post about the eleventy bajillion mishaps that happened along the way, but for the moment I am so, so excited to have finally pulled off what I was going for. This weighs less than a pound and sticks together with magnets. It needs some serious sanding before I start on the paint job, but the last two months of crafting nonsense has finally paid off, so I'll take it!

Added the supports for the second shelf. Today I need to calculate dimensions for the door and cut the sides.

Finally finished the stems of two leaves of the monstera plant. Three more to go!

Here's something I wasn't expecting about my embroidery experiment: the cotton thread seems to have shrunk in the wash

I’m working on this proposal for a solo show in my hometown and…I have until the 25th at midnight to submit it. Which is not a bad timeline - I’m already done with a lot of documentation they are asking for, but I’m being quite ambitious for this proposal (for context, it would basically be like…about a whole apartment worth of space the selected artist would have to use up) and I’m proposing things at a bigger scale than I’ve ever done-

And part of me is not very convinced I even have a chance to get it - but I at least want to participate so the jury knows my work.

And part of me is TERRIFIED that I actually get selected. Like. The project I’m submitting has a lot of potential, and I think the fear of success here is what’s making me stall and procrastinate.

Anyways, I’m taking a small break - I have my project summary, CV, and previous work samples about 75% done. I’ll get my references and preliminary sketches together today and then I’ll take a day or two just to edit/revise.
