Proverbs Daily Reflection – January 13, 2025
Ephesians 4:29: "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths. Speak only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs. This will benefit those who listen."
Proverbs 13:3 warns us: “Those who guard their lips preserve their lives, but those who speak rashly will come to ruin.” This verse reminds us to guard not only what we say but how we say it. Words are powerful—they can build up or tear down, bring life or destruction. As followers of Christ, we must think before we speak. We need to ensure that our words align with God’s will. Paul reinforces…

Wealth gained hastily will dwindle,
but whoever gathers little by little will increase it.
Proverbs 13:11
No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Matthew 6:24
For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.
James 3:16

13 Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, 14 for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. 15 She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her.
(Proverbs 3:13-15, ESV)

He gives us the Holy Spirit, who joins our hearts together in love. We may go for years praying for someone, not knowing how they are doing with the Lord, whether they are growing or falling away; and what joy we have when we get good news of them! As Solomon said, "Like cold water to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country" (Proverbs 25:25).

Embracing Christ's Peace: A Journey to Purposeful Living
The peace offered by Christ is genuine and lasting. It stands in stark contrast to the fleeting and often illusory "peace and happiness" that our world frequently promises but seldom delivers.
But now in Christ Jesus you, the ones who once were far away, have become near by the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace~ Ephesians 2:13-14 LEB ~ Finding peace, purpose, and direction in life can often feel elusive, especially amidst the challenges and chaos of today’s world. However, the Apostle Paul’s teachings remind us that we were once “far off” and have now been “brought near by…

It is better to live for love, than to die for pride
There is a saying that goes “it’s better to rule in hell, than to serve in Heaven.” I don’t think people really understand what hell is like if that’s something someone would proudly say. Hubris is a crazy thing and I’ve taken a few lumps because of it over the years. There is no ruler in hell, it was created for Satan and his angels for eternal punishment, The lake of fire is not a place you’d…

Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
Matthew 7:1 & 2
Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.
Luke 14:33
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.

And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its affections and lusts.
Galatians 5:24
The Lord detests all the proud of heart.
Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.
Proverbs 16:5
And the publican, standing afar off, would not so much as lift up his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’
Luke 18:13
"We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”

Psalm 51:3
Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tried you in the furnace of affliction.

The Sweet Payoff of Love
Wednesday night, at our church’s family dinner (a weekly blessing), we sat across from the cutest couple who married in December. He is 90 years old; she is 86. They are just recently out and about because three days before they married, she fell, broke her nose and required stitches from her nose to her lip. He fell a couple of days later. They are both going regularly for physical…

PROVERBS 26: 12 AND HEBREWS 3: 13
Caught by strong delusion, From opened up thought inclusion…. A troublesome time Led astray in mind By sin and sacred confusion! – Too easy to say what you say, Foolishness for which one pays…. Friends losing For hasty words choosing, Too often it’s been that way! – Deceptiveness of sin, How easy it is to fall in… No one to help guard Your mind by the Word, The ice you’re on is…
