Entropy Domain | Being a cleric of death is cool, but what if you went further?

So, at the end of the year, I couldn't help but think? What about the end of all things? Kind of a thematic parallel of my Circle of Rot. Emissary of the End

Well, if you're worshiping the end of things, killing is probably important. As is making sure that the undead be proper dead.

Nullify Impact

I was considering doing something akin to the grave domain turn a critical hit into a regular hit, but that's a 6th level feature, so that seemed rather unfair, so instead you get some Battle Master parry/missile catching, which seemed more appropriate.

Inevitable Fate

This time I felt like it would be fun for the CD to be more of a "stop struggling" kind of a deal. Maybe I'll should have added an upgrade to make it stop their healing for the same duration, but at just level 2, that was a bit overkill. Vanilla werewolves bewere.

Extra Attack

Well, I gave it martial weapons proficiency, of course I was giving it this.

As I was creating this, I realised that the timestop spell exists, and it doesn't really feel like you're stopping anything, so I decided instead of stopping the world, what if you stopped one thing in particular. Something very absolute, great for taking a threat out of combat or ensuring something's safety.

the goddess of war and craftmanship emerged fully formed from the mind of the god of rulership and wise counsel, freed by the hand of the god of the forge and invention. his head hurt because he is giving birth. this is a "the curtains are blue" level read.

You will get to choose early on though, not like their name or title but their domain (if that makes sense). Like you’ll get to see an example of some of their power in an early choice/scene

Yuuji's domain felt like itafushi propaganda since the end of the Shibuya incident.

This post has aged well so far (ch. 267 is out now, only 4 remain)

But I noticed something else from those scenes in shibuya!

First, that Yuuji holds a rabbit as soon as they appear.

And the rabbits can keep appearing, after they've been taken out.

Second... The dogs? I forgot about that. And I can't say with certainty what they represent, but...

This page from the culling game arc reminded me of it.

In summary, Yuuji's domain was always itafushi propaganda, and the cryogenic sort of property feels even more foreshadowed now, so do with that what you will.

The fact that the rabbits can't truly be killed, and the white dog (who died in the detention center in season 1) appears there first. And then the black dog (who still lives, might have represented Kenjaku in this scene, but could also represent Megumi, in reference to Ch. 266)

I was pouring a promised libation out to Hermes, Apollo, Aphrodite, and Dionysus this afternoon (I'd asked them for help with a personal matter involving a sibling) and as I was looking up at the sky talking about the situation I saw three hawks start to circle something a little ways in the distance. Hawks aren't exactly uncommon here but it had been a while since I'd seen any, let alone three at once, so it caught my attention.

And while I was trying to figure out what type of bird they were (not an eagle, too short a neck to be a vulture, etc) one of them swooped down into a neighbor's backyard and back up along the tree in my backyard, close enough that, if a branch weren't in the way, I would have been able to see its feather markings. While hawks were somewhat usual, experiencing that certainly was not. So, of course, when I got inside I looked up if any Greek gods are associated with hawks.

And, of course, Apollo is.

I've been thinking a lot about the difference between "this is just a Thing That Happens" and a sign so it was nice to see a direct example of how something differs when it's coming from a god.

So, in this month of deceit, what sort of trickery could I devise? No… revise! Haha! I've always been slightly disappointed in the trickery domain. It has one of the coolest channel divinities (the coolest belonging to forge) but past that, everything else is unremarkable. At will advantage on stealth for one person. Be invisible for 1 round when you could be doing the cool thing. and finally cool thing, but stronger! The divine strike was okay, but that's also the one thing that it only had one of two options for anyway

Bonus Proficiency

Behold the divine providence of lies! What do you mean it doesn't teach you to lie? I considered getting disguise kit, but I solved that with the next issue.

Sacred Mask

So, warlock's get unlimited disguise self at level 2, so what if a cleric could too? But how do I rationalise making it more limited, I know! By making it mundane so as to bypass divination magic

Invoke Duplicity

How do you improve upon perfection? Not sure, but I had to do something. I am all for fuckery with a doppleganger of some sort, well, I decided that making an important feature of this CD require melee combat doesn't really fit every kind of trickster. But what is tricky? What if what you thought was an illusion is now suddenly real?

Redirect Attack

I was inspired by the old treachery paladin and this seemed fun. This could probably do with some kind of restriction, but one reaction per round is a pretty good limit

Sacred Visions

When designing domain capstones, I find it useful to ask 'what is the ideal of this aspect?' So, when tricking someone, what if it was REALLY convincing? This is similar to my programmed hallucination spell, but more specific.

Very late to the party again, but I think it is insane the comfort and many ways in which the World Beyond Numbers crew is comfortable with breaking the “rules” of actual play.

They have such an ability to forgo the instinct of playing nice and instead stick to nuanced and complex character choices that I would be terrified to take- ame checking out and escaping because she prioritized her duty over conforming to the citadel’s ways, Eursolon being ready to free spirits and fully go rogue to find his answers, Suvi’s decision to stick with orders at all costs- they are all so ready to go “fuck this, let’s make it interesting” and it leads to so much amazing and deep character work.

Dunno, I just think we should talk more about how insanely good they are as players and storytellers
