Some of my pieces felt 'flat' to me recently. Decided to do a bit of value and composition study. I guess this poor psychemon ended up in the Dark Ocean somehow. Whoops.

Can spawn balloons out of thin air, which she can use for fun or combat. They explode into colorful confetti and bright light when punctured.

Alright time for another subspecies post!

Here we have Gabumon and Psychemon!

Psychemon's name is likely derived from the word psychedelic, in reference to its bright colors.

The Digimon Reference Book describes its personality as just as bright and showy as its colors., although it's shy like Gabumon without its pelt.

BT3 and BT8 has treated us to some sweet Psychemon cards~

The symbol on its belly has 2 different designs. Early on it was the same as Gabumon's, but more recently it's depicted as a skull pattern.

The BT3 card still uses the old design. This might be because it's a reference to its appearance in Digimon World!

So does this mean every black recolor digimon (Gulus notwithstanding) has black digitron and are thus immune to GRB? What about all the other recolors and pallet swaps like Psychemon, NiseDrimogemon and IceDevimon?

(this was Regulusmon’s profile BTW. Bandai Namco mentioning GRB in Gulus’ Digimon Web profile would be a massive spoiler)

Edit: In case anyone else wants to fail to gaslight me for knowing that Psychemon’s pelt is not only not the only difference, it’s not even the most notable:

Anyone with functioning eyes can tell the difference beyond the pelts. Even the colorblind should be able to tell the difference.

Fun fact! In digimon, there’s a Garurumon variant called Gururumon! For reference, image 1 is Garurumon, and 2 is Gururumon

As you can see, there’s… a choice, that Bandai made, but considering how Psychemon, a Gabumon variant exists, I tried to make Gururumon look more like Psychemon’s pelt!

Challenged myself with a random digimon generator and then drawing whatever came up

So, the True Shadow Howl evolution line-up for the Vital Bracelet proposes Gabumon (Black) as a possible pre-evolution candiate for Dorulumon, which I think actually works pretty well -

It also made me wanna try and draw a Gabumon (Black) variant with a pelt made of Dorulumon data rather than Garurumon (Black), see what that might look like.

(Also threw in regular Gabumon and Psychemon versions, just for fun.)

Not sure what this might be called though -

DoruluGabumon? I don’t imagine it as a completely seperate species, so maybe just Gabumon D? Gabumon ver. D?
