Bitcoin in a Post Quantum Cryptographic World
Quantum computing, once a theoretical concept, is now an impending reality. The development of quantum computers poses significant threats to the security of many cryptographic systems, including Bitcoin. Cryptographic algorithms currently used in Bitcoin and similar systems may become vulnerable to quantum computing attacks, leading to potential disruptions in the blockchain ecosystem. The question arises: What will be the fate of Bitcoin in a post-quantum cryptographic world?

Bitcoin relies on two cryptographic principles: the Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) and the SHA-256 hashing function. The ECDSA is used for signing transactions, which verifies the rightful owner of the Bitcoin. On the other hand, the SHA-256 hashing function is used for proof-of-work mechanism, which prevents double-spending. Both principles are expected to become vulnerable in the face of powerful quantum computers.
Quantum Threat to Bitcoin
Quantum computers, due to their inherent nature of superposition and entanglement, can process information on a scale far beyond the capability of classical computers. Shor's Algorithm, a quantum algorithm for factoring integers, could potentially break the ECDSA by deriving the private key from the public key, something that is computationally infeasible with current computing technology. Grover's Algorithm, another quantum algorithm, can significantly speed up the process of finding a nonce, thus jeopardizing the proof-of-work mechanism.
Post-Quantum Cryptography
In a post-quantum world, Bitcoin and similar systems must adapt to maintain their security. This is where post-quantum cryptography (PQC) enters the scene. PQC refers to cryptographic algorithms (usually public-key algorithms) that are thought to be secure against an attack by a quantum computer. These algorithms provide a promising direction for securing Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies against the quantum threat.
Bitcoin in the Post Quantum World
Adopting a quantum-resistant algorithm is a potential solution to the quantum threat. Bitcoin could potentially transition to a quantum-resistant cryptographic algorithm via a hard fork, a radical change to the blockchain protocol that makes previously invalid blocks/transactions valid (or vice-versa). Such a transition would require a complete consensus in the Bitcoin community, a notoriously difficult achievement given the decentralized nature of the platform.
Moreover, the Bitcoin protocol can be updated with quantum-resistant signature schemes like the Lattice-based, Code-based, Multivariate polynomial, or Hash-based cryptography. These cryptosystems are believed to withstand quantum attacks even with the implementation of Shor's Algorithm.
Additionally, Bitcoin could integrate quantum key distribution (QKD), a secure communication method using a cryptographic protocol involving components of quantum mechanics. It enables two parties to produce a shared random secret key known only to them, which can be used to encrypt and decrypt messages.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the advent of quantum computers does indeed pose a threat to Bitcoin's security. However, with the development of post-quantum cryptography, there are potential solutions to this problem. The future of Bitcoin in a post-quantum world is likely to depend on how quickly and effectively these new cryptographic methods can be implemented. The key is to be prepared and proactive to ensure the longevity of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in the face of this new quantum era.

The No-Maintenance Asset Class

As the newest Assert Class in the market, Cryptocurrency, birthed just 16 years ago, has proved to be a juggernaut in the marketplace, eclipsing all other markets that have come before it. For those in the space, you have seen first-hand the value of your tokens / coins increase in rapid succession due not only to the population realizing the supply-shock, but also the regulatory barriers which are finally being dismantled. While these known factors are part of the secret weapon of crypto, what is sometimes overlooked is the comparison of how the value of how crypto stacks-up against well-known assets we're familiar with. While there are physical moving targets associated with most traditional investments, digital assets such as XRP and Bitcoin have none. To illustrate, consider Real Estate vs. crypto. Once you have taken possession of a house, it immediately begins to degrade… not necessarily in ticket value, but rather in the 'hidden' costs that slowly eat away at your investment. As a homeowner, you need to constantly maintain the interior, while sustaining the exterior. Over time, the flooring will need to be fixed (or replaced), plumbing issues will most certainly occur at the most inconvenient of times and of course, the natural disintegrating conditions. Should a natural disaster occur, your costs could surge to unprecedented amounts, even if you do have insurance, and while such an occurrence was no fault of your own, you are still the one stuck with the bill. Then there are the monthly and annual costs such as property taxes, heat, hydro, insurance and other expenses that are as regular as the rising sun. True, real-estate is a good investment, but to pretend there are no maintenance costs that go with the territory is just plain ignorant. Consider this… when it comes to sell your house, guess what you can buy? One just like it. The house didn't become more valuable, it actually is less valuable because your 20-year-old estate does not hold the same purchasing power than a new one does. Building supplies, cost-per-square-footage and land continually go up, and when attracting new buyers, would they gravitate to one with new materials and new appliances, etc. or the one with slightly warped floors, cracking paint and electrical issues? Maintenance sucks, but it's a constant with buildings of all types - residential, commercial or industrial.

So what about crypto? Simply put, it has none of these issues. Cryptocurrency tokens are not physical entities, which means they are not prone to the same conditions. It makes no difference how much fire or hail occurs in any given day, it has no effect on a virtual asset, as dust doesn't settle on Bitcoin. For evidence of this, look at how much Bitcoin has gained in value over the last year, let alone the last 15 years. The only Kryptonite that could have an affect on crypto would be that of an electro-magnetic attack or a thrust in Quantum Computing, which some have made a big deal about. Let's put this in perspective. First, an electronic disturbance or loss of internet access would disrupt a lot more than crypto, with entire industries halting the means of production. World leaders are very aware of the consequences of this with the only gains being degrees of loss, with no winners. To quash the quantum-computing debate, cryptographers, quantum engineers and mathematicians realize what is at stake with crypto's multi-Trillion market, and are planning right now for such an eventuality. At it stands today, we are just learning to crawl with the promise of what quantum computing can provide and it will take many years until this technology begins to mature, and because the underlying foundation to crypto is simply a computer, it can, and will be upgraded no different than your operating system's threat-protection software. So, be it a house, a car or other physical entity which constantly needs maintenance, with crypto, you simply buy it, transfer it to your cold storage device, and over time, let the fixed-supply coin appreciate. Bitcoin, XRP, HBAR or your token of choice doesn't care about your emotions, the type of car you drive or how old/new your house is, which should come as comfort to you, the investor. While it's a sound economic posture to have a diverse collection of assets, be it housing, metals or derivatives, holding crypto adds a palliative element not possible with other investment strategies due to it's fixed-supply and hands-off approach. Like other investments, however, the 'maintenance' involved is to simply let time do the heavy lifting.

Yes, someone needs to figure out what the implications of quantum computing are for cryptography, but I guarantee you that it is not Synergy Greg, who does not have any skill that you can identify other than talking very fast and increasing headcount. Synergy Greg should be not be consulted on any important matters, ranging from machine learning operations to tying shoelaces quickly. The last time I spoke to one of the many avatars of Synergy Greg, he insisted that I should invest most of my money into a cryptocurrency called Monero, because "most of these coins are going to zero but the one is going to one". This is the face of corporate AI. Behold its ghastly visage and balk, for it has eyes bloodshot as a demon and is pretending to enjoy cigars.

Crypto is digital money that exists only electronically. It’s not controlled by central banks or governments. It uses blockchain technology—a ledger enforced by a network of computers.
You store your crypto in digital wallets and can use it for purchases and investments. Just like stock market you can convert to real dollars and withdrawal.
For the last couple of years, large financial companies have been testing a quantum financial system (ISO 20022) which would be an international standard for exchanging electronic messages in the financial industry. This is estimated to be rolled out on a large scale in about a decade.
XRP for example is a digital currency created by Ripple to enable quick money transfers. Some believe it could play a key role in a future global financial system, often referred to as the Quantum Financial System (QFS), by acting as a bridge currency that facilitates value exchange between different currencies and networks.
In plain words, cryptocurrency is a new form of currency and we are still in the beginning stages of it all. Which means the ability to make a ton of money easier than ever before :) Bitcoin is a perfect example, was at 40k I believe beginning of the year and now 100k, this means that if you invested $5,000 USD in January, you would now have made 13,000 USD letting it just sit there. If you are actively trading in crypto and meme coins you have the ability to 100x your returns. For example when people buy in to a coin that’s trending/ new/ getting hype, like XRP recently, there is a significant surge.
To trade crypto you can use centralized exchanges like Binance, Fidelity Investments, Robinhood Crypto, OANDA etc. These platforms allow you to buy, sell and trade various cryptos. This is basically what the general population does. There are other ways like using bots, staking, futures and options, margins and leverage etc.
With meme coins, as they trend you have the ability to make a lot of money overnight. This ofcourse depends on your ability to study the trends and the communities built around those coins. It is always a risk!!!!
Here’s an example for meme coins:
$330k to $34M (100x) in less than 2h for a meme coin created for Luigi Mangione last week. So if you had put in $3,000 in the coin when it was at 330k, in 2 hours you would have made $300,000.
I can’t say enough that this involves you being on top of trends and markets.

Who am I?
Hello, my name is John Perepelkin.
I am a third semester student for Information Technology Services at SAIT in Calgary. I have been enjoying the courses very much, and though it seems difficult sometimes, if I study hard I seem to do well. I have not done a lot of research into what field I want to pursue within IT, but it seems to me that I have a knack for virtualization and good skills with server management. I think though, that cypber-security is a field in extreme demand.
I am an older student, and when I was a child, computers were just becoming PC's. First one I had seen was an Apple I. Very basic. Nowadays the technology seems to almost be outpacing our ability to control it.
I have a wife and we have been married 14 years. Good timing, for this information on the blog, because we met on valentines day, and it is the 13th today. We have one 10 year old daughter, and she is kind, smart and has recently gotten her first degree black belt in tae-qwon-do.
We enjoy the outdoors and in the summer we go camping whenever possible and sometimes we travel to the U.S. or to other parts of Canada. I enjoy fishing, and just being in the great outdoors when we go out.

WHY EMERGING TECHNOLOGY IS RELEVANT
I think emerging technology is important for me, especially as I am in the IT field, and everything I work with involves technology, if the technology is new and improved from an old technology that's great. If it is a completely new technology it is important for me to understand it and how I can affect my chosen field of work.
A new technology can open up new industries, and new fields of employment. Twenty years ago, the internet and networking was taking off at an exponential rate while ten years before that, networking existed only at a rudimentary level. The new technology that had emerged that made our current social network and technological network possible was video cards. The video card enabled a computers memory and cpu capacity to be used for raw data, and the data used to create and transmit video was transferred to the new video cards. That is an example of how emerging technology has effected everyone from then, until now.
Today, the newest technology that everyone is excited, or worried about depending on your viewpoint. This of course is machine learning, or AI(artificial intelligence). From what I have seen this newest technology is in it's infancy. We have learning models that can help us in our everyday work, but these models cannot actually do anything on their own. However the applications for industries and automation seem to be very interesting, it is possible that in the future our manufacturing plants will only need an AI to run it with robots doing the 'hands-on' work. This will be possible revolution for human society, as we will a)have no jobs besides maintaining the AI and the machines, and lots of the work we do will instead be done by machines. Automation to the most extreme point possible.
These are just a few examples of how emerging technology is relevant, in fact it is extremely relevant.

The rapid development of extended reality, includes virtual reality , augmented reality, and mixed reality. These technologies are transforming gaming, education, and even remote work, imagine the possibilities extended reality can produce for our military, industry, and advanced educational by creating more interactive experiences. Breakthroughs in biotechnology, such as gene editing and AI-driven drug discovery, are pushing the boundaries of healthcare. As these technologies evolve, businesses and individuals should and must, adapt to the changes that will define the future our world and humankind.
