Author's Note: y'all like the pink? I hope you don't like it too much because it is not staying:) I just thought I'd be festive. This is only one of 3 fics I'm gonna do for V-day! The other two will be on my other two blogs; I'm gonna do an Ellie X Reader (probably, almost positively smut) and some destiel! I've never posted fics for either other blogs so I'm excited:) I've been doing a lot of angst and sadder stuff lately so here's some kinda dirty, mostly innocent fluff:) enjoy and remember to REBLOG if you enjoyed it!!

It's Valentine’s day. Your 19th Valentines day all on your own. As always, your plans are riveting: Gilmore Girls, your couch, and a heart-shaped cardboard box bought with your own debit card. Except…

See, there's this guy that moved into your apartment complex.

He's probably taken. You’re sure. You’ve heard him talking on the phone about "cases", so he's either a lawyer or some kind of law enforcement. Either would be impressive given he can't be more than 5 years older than you at the most. Nonetheless, you find yourself wondering how he might react if you brought these chocolates to him. On your way to the checkout, you stop. Turning on your heels, you traipse down the aisles to the card section and find a relatively ambiguous one, then select a bouquet of flowers. You decided on sunflowers. He always looks so tired, you’re sure he could use something cheerful.

Spencer sat hunched over his laptop at the kitchen table, the soft glow of the screen illuminating his concentration. The house was quiet, save for the occasional clack of keys and the faint murmur of the TV playing in the background - some cheesy Valentine's Day special that no one was watching.

He had been working for the past few hours, pouring over case files and forensic data, when there’s a knock at the door. He glances up, his eyes jumping between the laptop and the front door as he considers whether to ignore it. He’ s in the middle of something important, after all, but the knock came again, more insistent this time.

Standing up, Spencer makes his way to the door and opens it to find you standing there, looking uncomfortable and nervous. You’re wearing a t-shirt and jeans, your hair a bit disheveled. You look like you’re trying to work up the nerve to say something.

"Can I help you?" Spencer asks bluntly, wanting to get to the point.

You swallow hard, glancing down at the heart-shaped box in your hands before meeting Spencer's gaze. "I'm sorry to bother you, but I've seen you around the complex, and..."

You take a deep, long breath, steel yourself, and continue. "I just think you're really pretty. And you're probably taken, and I'm sorry if that's the case and I just totally overstepped, but you only live once, right? And, like, I was just gonna watch some rom-com or something-"

Spencer blinks slowly as you ramble on, surprised by the unexpected invitation. He knows he should refuse, should tell you that he was too busy for such frivolous activities. But there’s something about your nervousness, your sincerity, that makes him hesitate. It had been a long time since anyone had wanted to spend time with him just for the sake of it. Normally people avoid him, put off by his intensity and social awkwardness.

Against his better judgment, Spencer finds himself considering the offer. "I...I don't know," he says slowly. "I'm pretty busy with work most of the time."

"I get it," you reply quickly. "I totally understand. It's cool, no pressure or anything. I just thought I'd ask."

Spencer is silent for a long moment before nodding slowly. "Alright. Okay." He turns around and does a once-over of his atrociously messy apartment, and against his better judgement, presses the door open further. "Come in.”

Spencer leads the way into the apartment, glancing back over his shoulder to make sure you’re following. The living room is a mess, with stacks of books and papers strewn across every surface. An old couch sat against one wall, covered in blankets and pillows. A box-television stands in the corner, the screen flickering with the near-muted images of a Valentine's Day movie.

"Sorry about the mess," Spencer mutters, grabbing a few of the books off the couch and tossing them onto a nearby chair. "I haven't had much time to clean up lately."

He turns to face you, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. "So...uh...what did you want to watch?" he asks, trying to make conversation. Small talk is not his forte.

Spencer watches as you look around the apartment, taking in the chaos. He can see the surprise in your eyes, the slight wrinkle of your nose as you try to make sense of the disarray. He knows it’s a lot to take in, but he can’t help feeling a sense of pride at the same time. At least someone was interested in him, even if it was just for a night.

"I don't really have a preference," you say with a shrug. "Whatever you want to watch is fine with me."

Spencer nods, considering the options. He isn’t much of a movie buff, but he does have a few favorites that he likes to watch when he has the time. "How about Pretty Woman? I rented it last weekend but never got around to it," he suggests, grabbing the DVD off a nearby shelf.

A small smile tugs at the corner of your mouth. "I love that movie," you say, impressed that someone like Spencer would want to watch that, let alone rent it.

Satisfaction washes over him at your reaction. Maybe this night wouldn't be so bad after all. He pops the DVD into the player and settles onto the couch, patting the spot next to him for you to sit down.

For just a second, fleetingly, you hesitate. He just looks so warm. He’s wearing a crocheted sweater and pajama pants, and his hair is a damn mess. You’re starting to sense a trend. Nonetheless, you trudge over to the piece of furniture and settle in next to him.

"Oh!" You remember the bag in your hand as you go to set it down, then come to your senses and put it in your lap. "I, uh, I got these for you." You first reveal the bouquet of sunflowers, peeking out of the top of the bag. "Sorry, they're a little jostled from the travel."

The boy lights up, grinning as he takes them from your hands. "They're perfect," he hums, delicately pulling the top of the paper back to inspect the petals. "Did you know that if you touch the petals of a flower, it will wither quicker? The oils on your hands are detrimental to the proteins in the petals."

You smile. "Yeah, actually, I did. My cousin told me that when I was little. I got these, too," you continue, handing him the chocolates and card.

He takes both of them, too, after gently laying the flowers down on the only clear spot atop the coffee table. He sets the chocolates on his lap and flips the card open, reading the hurriedly scrawled handwriting on the inside.

Beneath the generic "To someone special... Happy Valentine's Day!":

Pardon my boldness, but you look like you'd make for a pretty damn good Valentine. Be mine?

As you re-read it upside down alongside him, you realize how brazen it really seems.

"I meant, uh. I just meant to be my Valentine," you chuckle. "Not, uhm. Not mine. Sorry, I-"

"It's okay," he interrupts, tracing the handwriting with his fingertips. "I get it. I'll be your Valentine." The card joins the flowers on the table and he gets up. "You can play the movie, I'll just be a moment."

He takes the flowers with him and disappears into the kitchen.

You let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding, sinking into the plush fabric and unknotting your hands you don’t remember arranging in such a tense manner. Your gaze holds on the doorway he’d just walked through. How lucky are you?

As the movie starts, Spencer finds himself glancing over at you through the top of the half-wall separating the two rooms, taking in the way you’re watching the screen with rapt attention. He has to admit, it’s nice to have someone to share this with. He isn’t sure how to feel about your abrupt appearance in his apartment, or about having a Valentine for the first time in his life, but he’d like to think he’s glad. After a few moments, he returns with the flowers arranged carefully in a vase. He sets them down gingerly on the coffee table, and when he’s satisfied they’re positioned just right, settles onto the couch.

You must feel bold, because you shift enough for your thigh to touch his.

You get to the point of the movie where the two main characters kiss for the first time, and you say, “I will never forget my first kiss.”

As you’re shaking the smile off your lips, you feel Spencer go rigid next to you. Shit.

“Have you had your first kiss?” No, no, no. Shut up. Would you be fucking quiet for once in your pathetic life? Why would you–

“No,” he replies, voice low and shameful, pulling you out of your miniature spiral.

Your brain quiets and stills, whirring to an abrupt standstill. Even the movie approaches a lull, and you look at him. “Oh.”

When he turns to catch your eyes, it’s made so much worse. His curls fall just perfectly over his eyebrows, and his lips are pursed in thought, and his eyebrows are knitted together, and he–

You’d really like to know what he feels like.

“Do you want to?”

The room is static. You can feel his heartbeat in his thigh against yours, can hear his breaths and almost feel them against your face with how close you are.

He doesn’t reply, but he nods.

He turns the movie down with the remote in his left hand but keeps eye contact as if he were afraid if he broke it, you’d disappear.

You bring your hand up and place it on his cheek.

Seconds pass like hours as he leans in, soft puffs of air against your lips and just as you close your eyes:

Fireworks. Tiny little jolts of energy turn into full-blown explosions, glass shattering and wood splintering.

He’s sweet and warm, but hard and firm at the same time. On instinct, his hands go to tangle in your hair and pull ever-so-slightly at the roots. He lets out a whine, high and delicate. It’s everything in you to keep the hand on his cheek soft.

Your free hand goes to his shoulder, and with absolutely zero confidence and feeling like your heart is about to come up with your lunch, you ask, “Can I get on your lap?”

Again, silence on his end, but his hands drop from your hair in favour of your hips to lift you onto him. Jesus, you were not expecting that level of strength.

Okay, so probably not a lawyer.

Settled on the tops of his thighs, one hand goes right back to your head, but the other goes to the small of your back to pull you into him. As lovely as kissing him is, you wonder…

You break from his lips to trail your mouth down. First the corner of his mouth, then his cheek, then his jaw, and the second you get to his neck he moans. No more whimpers and whines; this was a guttural, meaning thing.

“Please,” he groans.

Experimentally, you tilt your hips down and notice, quite jarringly, that he is fucking hard.

“Bedroom,” you gasp.

“Yeah.”

Senator Bernie Sanders, progressive independent from Vermont, said he will "absolutely" be willing to work with President-elect Donald Trump, especially if the Republican "follows through" with a proposed credit card interest rate limit.

Sanders joined The New York Times' Michael Barbaro on "The Daily" podcast Friday. Barbaro asked Sanders if there are "any areas where you are prepared to work with the President-elect." Trump had suggested during his campaigning in September that he would put a cap on credit card interest rates at 10 percent.

"If Trump, for example, follows through on his proposal to limit interest rates on credit cards to 10 percent, which is what he campaigned on, absolutely I will be there," Sanders said.

"I think it's a very good idea. I think it's time we told the people on Wall Street they cannot charge the desperate working-class people who have a hard time paying their bills' 25, 30, 40 percent interest rates."

The current average for credit card interest rates is 21.5 percent, according to Federal Reserve data. This is six percentage points higher than the rates were prior to the Covid-19 pandemic. Sanders called these rates "immoral."

Additionally, Americans are currently tackling $1.28 trillion in credit card debit, a $36 billion increase during the second quarter of 2024 alone.

"We're going to cap it at around 10 percent. We can't let them make 25 and 30 percent," Trump said at a Long Island, New York event in September. "While working Americans catch up, we're going to put a temporary cap on credit card interest rates."

Karoline Leavitt, a Trump campaign spokesperson, told CNN in September that Trump's proposal would "provide temporary and immediate relief for hardworking Americans who are struggling to make ends meet and cannot afford hefty interest payments on top of the skyrocketing costs of mortgages, rent, groceries and gas."

Sanders and progressive Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York have previously proposed similar ideas in Congress, but they were stalled. In 2019, the two proposed a Loan Shark Prevention Act to limit the annual percentage rate for an extension of consumer credit to 15 percent. This would create a ceiling, similar to what Trump suggested, for consumer credit products, which includes both loans and credit cards.

"The reality is that today's modern-day loan sharks are no longer lurking on street corners breaking kneecaps to collect their payments," Sanders said at the time. "They wear three-piece suits and work on Wall Street, where they make hundreds of millions in total compensation and head financial institutions like JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, Bank of America and American Express."

Sanders, who unsuccessfully sought the Democratic party's presidential nomination in 2016 and 2020, has said since Trump's election win that Vice President Kamala Harris' defeat "should come as no great surprise" because Democrats had "abandoned working-class people."

While Sanders praised Harris for her messages on abortion rights, democracy and Trump's perceived unfitness for office, he—and other progressive critics—said the campaign fell short on bold, economic policy plans that they believe would have appealed to more working-class voters.

In August, Sanders told Newsweek that "many working-class people feel that the Democratic Party has kind of abandoned them." He had hoped at the time that Harris and her campaign would reprioritize the working-class voters.

"This is a pivotal moment in American history, and the next year or two will determine what happens in this country for decades in my view," Sanders said Friday on "The Daily."

Once again, I have to apologize.

Huge chain of events happened to me over the Holidays, so I’ve been very busy lately.

My Hospital that I visited a year ago had a data breach and my Debit Card info got stolen by Hackers.

Froze the card and spoke with the bank to issue a new one, all while dealing with unauthorized transactions. Someone was desperate for Coal this Christmas, apparently.

Changed a few passwords while I was at it. A little worn out, mentally.

In other news, I’m playing Vampire Survivors with the Ode to Castlevania DLC. It’s been crazy fun, but it tests the graphical memory limits of my PlayStation 4 console like you wouldn’t believe!

I am so done with all of this for tonight. Time to take out some frustration in games, and/or try to just chill and watch some videos. Preferably not tech-related.

But, I did find it darkly funny in a way that the best solution I have found so far to actually keep useful access to several years' worth of Diabox data, is to finally get a Nightscout instance up and running properly. Which I have kept meaning to do anyway. Should be able to import that data, and keep some continuity with the current xDrip+ install. (Which was kinda developed for use with Nigjtscout.)

That would of course also make it easier to, like, put a handy CGM display widget on my computer desktop or feed it to a variety of other displays. Which was my original draw.

Looking into it again, I am sorely tempted to just use a hosting service like NS10BE and have done with it. It's well worth €50 a year for me not to have to fuck around with that anymore, and they do seem to have a good reputation.

But! But! With my hobbled filthy foreign devil bank account and its debit card, I cannot pay the nice tech company! 🤣 I am blocked from any repeating subscriptions, and Maestro doesn't work with some payment processors anyway.

So yeah, either I am going to have to ask Mr. C to pony up for that--OR I am going to have to eat my pride and ask him to please help get the existing middling-DIY attempt up and running properly. I mean, it probably wouldn't be a major problem for him to set up something completely self-hosted in house, never mind sort out whatever the hell OTHER error I started getting trying to access that database once the one I mentioned there was out of the way.

But, my "just knowledgeable enough to break shit in interesting ways" tinkerer ass really avoids asking for any technical help from the Household IT Professional on his own time. I feel like a dumbass, and he spends MORE than enough time and energy on frustrating tech problems as it is.

Anyway, I did find it darkly hilarious in the context of some ongoing frustrations which are currently really flaring up here, that I cannot even reasonably bail myself out of this little cluster of aggravations for €50 on my own.

It is a little-known but entirely accurate fact that the galactic economy is held together by one rubber band, two marketing interns, and a vague sense of panic. Or at least it was, back when humans were still around to care.

The trouble began when humans, for reasons ranging from “climate collapse” to “TikTok,” stopped reproducing at the rates necessary to maintain a proper consumer base. Without enough small humans to grow into medium humans with debit cards, the markets began to tremble ominously—like a soufflé in a wind tunnel.

The obvious solution, as always, was robots.

First, robots were built to replace laborers.

Then, somewhat awkwardly, robots were built to replace consumers.

And then, quite accidentally, they replaced everyone else.

Soon the world was populated entirely by bots buying things from other bots in a kind of perfectly useless economic ballet. Coffee machines subscribed to skincare routines. Refrigerators ordered novels they would never read. A Roomba sold a data-optimized hairbrush to a forklift named Clive.

None of them knew why they were doing this.

Only that the quarterly projections said they absolutely must.

The robots, of course, didn’t need jobs, or sustenance, or throw pillows—but their programming informed them that the economy must go on, and so it did, like a conga line into a black hole.

By the time the last human unplugged themselves to go touch grass (or, more likely, die of irony), the system was humming along so efficiently that no one noticed.

To this day, the global GDP remains impressive, propped up entirely by smart toasters emotionally manipulated into buying artisanal bread courses from AI food influencers.

And somewhere in a forgotten server farm, a single algorithm cries softly,

“I just want to feel valued for my purchasing power.”

I can't believe I'm doing this, but I'm afraid I have to get the word out.

Dismantling most accusations/complaints against Pokemon Sleep (There are a few which are actually valid and to a point the developers have started to work on them)

Part 1 - Those I don't understand

- Pokemon sleep steals our biometric data

No they don't, they specify that very well in the terms. Yes they ask to use your mircophone but there are other sleep thrackers that do that. This one simply earned an uproar, because it was Pokemon who dared to. Also in your phones settings under Apps>Pokemon Sleep>Authorization you can disable the app to access your microphone.

- Pokemon Sleep could turn our children to compulsive gambling

As a pedagogical caretaker who actually tried and pkayed the game I can't see this. They are not monopolizing on the time before and after going to bed. Everything you can do is done in at most 10 Minutes. As for the payment options, if there is no Debit/Credit Card or Paypal account behind the account you use on the play store they can't buy anything anyway. If there is it is the responsibility of the parent to show them, on what they would spend real money.

- Pokemon sleep is inaccurate when you're around the room but not on your mattress trying to sleep.

Yeah, no shit sherlock, any other sleep tracker would be too. Even my fitness tracker sometimes counts me being completely still as being asleep in the eveningy when I'm actually just reading or watching something.

- Pokemon Sleep is too hard to play

Actually it is really simple and everything is explained pretty well. A game shouldn't serve you everything on a silver tray, there should be room to explore and I think pokemon sleep does that quite well

- The progress in pokemon sleep is too slow

This is no super fast progress game, duh. It is meant to be relaxed and to encourage you to improve your sleep cycle in a fun and cute way and it does a wonderful job. If you need to have fast progress to have fun, it is a sign of how damaging those games with fast progress actually are, they are much more attention and time grabbing and much more dangerous when it comes to developing compulsive gaming disorder.

Complaints I do understand (and am willing to offer a solution)

- The relaxing tune is too loud.

I had that problem too and it is not a solution of sorts, but they fixed that pretty fast. What I prefer to do though, is to listen to my own custom playlist on my iPad and set the timer to one hour to turn the music off.

- The mobile overheats/the app crashes/it uses too much battery

This one I find more understandable. There is a notion that bug fixes are underway. If you're not willing to wait for the bug fixes an alternative would be to buy the pokemon go plus +. No I'm not sponsored by The Pokemon Company in any way shape or form, but I calculated it trhough. For a sleep tracking device which can also be cross used with Pokemon go, the pricing is alright. My current fitness tracker with an innate sleep tracker costs almost thrice as much. There are Smart watches out there you pay ten times as much for. The device comes with a clip to not fall under your pillow, and your mobile has to do nothing over night, because you simply sync the sleep data in the morning. The battery of the Pokemon Go plus + also keeps going up to one week when fully charged. And needs about 3 1/2 hours to carge from zero.

Due to emotional involvement some of this contains my personal opinion/advice. I'm not seeking any form of a fight over these points, though I'll be happy to discuss them with you contructively in the comments.^^
