When I started this build in late 2022, I ofc had no idea there would be a pack specifically dedicated to apartments coming out a year later. At most I planned for people to use mods, but I had also never used any such mods myself. All this to say, I'm honestly not sure how well this build plays as a rental! It is almost completely un-playtested and still largely unfurnished, and is only being released from the vault early in honor of finally getting rental residentials to exist.
But since the exterior facades and interior floorplans are done, its still an excellent shell for you to fill out! Only the first unit is (partially) furnished as an example for which rooms are which. In terms of build and furnishing, this is the wealthy decades player's dream, a Gilded Age townhome worthy of Upstairs, Downstairs.
Lot Features:
30x30 lot
3 four-story townhouse units
Fire escapes with roof access
Family and service stairs for each unit
Front and Back entrance for each unit
Large kitchens with separate scullery and pantry
Servant's dining hall, Housekeeper's quarters, and staff dormitory
Three story stair hall with glass skylight and picture gallery
Parlor, Library, and Dining room enfilade
Butler's pantry
Master bedrooms have private sitting room, ensuite bathroom
Children's room on third floor has private playroom, ensuite bath

This SEL timestamp takes place about a year after the events in Rio and a few months after they've toured the rest of South America. As mentioned in chp 25, they've started traveling to preternatural villages around the world. This covers some of that.
This is sort of integral to stories about vampires, but there's a lot of talk about feeding, etc. Just fyi!
Enjoy!
The Inner Village might be Harry’s favourite of all the preternatural villages they’ve been to. He’s not saying he’s ready to move to New York City and he can’t imagine Louis is either. But there are pockets of the Inner Village that are incredibly wonderfully gay and coming from their close-minded town, it’s a relief. There, they attend a drag show operated entirely by witches. They also meet Kristen and Teo from the Stonewall Coven, a found coven made up of queer witches. Harry has never met or heard of a found coven, at least not in Europe. He has a loving coven of his own, but the idea that there are witches uniting to support and love each other as family nearly makes him cry. Seated at their dimly lit bar table, the emotion is so obvious on Harry’s face, although only Louis catches it. He smiles and gently squeezes Harry’s hand in his own. The two of them garner some attention of their own, although they’re used to it by now. Even here in such a progressive place, a vampire and witch coupling up is rare.
“Like, sex is a different story,” Teo says. “Obviously, we’ve all fucked a vampire.”
Louis lifts his brows, his lips curling. “Are we just a fetish to you?”
Harry sputters, trying to complete a sip of his martini.
“I mean…” Teo shrugs. “I think most vampires would say fucking a witch is a fetish to them. And listen, I’m trans. I have to deal with men fetishizing me for that too. None of it’s ideal. But when it comes to witches and vampires, it’s like fire and water. Anything beyond a hookup is uncharted territory. And no one ever dares to try.”
“You should,” Louis says. “You’ll have more men to pick from. Ones who aren’t dickheads.”
“Well, if you have a twin brother, send him my way,” says Teo, their gaze lingering on Louis for a second longer than Harry likes.
“We were a bit like that at first, fire and water,” Harry cuts in. “But now, nothing makes more sense than this. We’ve just been told for centuries that witches and vampires can’t get on. And it’s not true.”
“And how long have you been dating?” Kristen asks. “Because if you say it’s only been a month or so, I’ll need more proof than that.”
“It’s been a little over a year officially,” Harry says.
“And also,” Louis says, lifting their joined hands from beneath the table, turning their hands so Harry’s ring catches the scarce light in the room. “We’re engaged.”
“Well, fuck,” Kristen says. And when Louis presses a kiss to Harry’s hand a second later, she adds, “Okay, I’m sold.”
It’s not to say that great love only exists between a vampire and a witch. Harry’s parents had a beautiful marriage, exactly the kind he wanted for himself. And Louis’ mum and Perry love each other deeply.
It’s only to say that great love exists in places some might not think to look. Sometimes it starts between rivals. Sometimes it takes years to flourish. Sometimes it feels like the universe is completely opposed. But sometimes it’s there waiting, in the most uncanny places, if you want it badly enough.
Every day in New York, they get up to something new. They tour museums and art galleries, including one where Louis buys him a painting and has it shipped to the estate for safekeeping. They dine at restaurants from Michelin-starred rooftop establishments to hole-in-the-wall haunts. They day drink (and night drink) and nap in parks in between. They make the most of their month-long stay. No, they won’t be relocating but Harry already knows they’ll be back. Often.
That day, after brunch and a bit of shopping, they retire to their rental penthouse to escape an incoming thunderstorm. The day isn’t a loss at all. He found the stick and poke kit he wanted so that Louis could attempt to tattoo him. After an order of sushi and a shared shower, they get started.
“Was nice to see Teo and Kristen again last night,” Harry says, mostly to distract himself from the initial shock of pain. “And all their friends too.”
“Yeah, they’re a fun lot,” Louis says. “Fucking crazy too. Crazier than us when we want to be.”
“I think Teo has a tiny crush on you.”
“Yeah, but it’ll go away.”
“Oh, so you agree?”
“When we hugged, their heart did a bit of a thing. That’s all.” Louis looks at him. “Now yours is too.”
“Do you think they’re attractive?”
Louis exhales a small laugh. “They’re objectively good-looking. Haven’t thought about it beyond that.”
“Everyone has a crush on you. It’s annoying,” Harry says.
“Who’s everyone?”
“In every place we’ve been to, there’s always someone who starts to fancy you a little. Isabelle in Argentina, remember? Damien? I think he was in Peru. Oh, when we went to Italy. The twins we met? Justine and Luca? They were both into you.”
“Isabelle was technically into both of us,” Louis says. “And I’ve got a list of my own, love. You’re just a bit better with names than I am. The girl with the pink hair last night? She couldn’t stop looking at you.”
“Venus?”
“Should’ve remembered that, to be fair. But yes.”
Harry doesn’t remember her looking at him, but maybe that’s the point.
“I don’t mind, so long as none of them get too close,” Louis says. “I know you’re all mine.”
Then he glances at Harry. Harry actually feels his heart skip a beat. Louis smiles and refocuses on his work. He’s tattooing a bird to match the one Harry tattooed on him a year ago. It’s just a simple outline and for his first shot at tattooing, it’s looking quite nice already.
“Does it hurt?” Louis asks.
Harry shrugs. “Not too much. You’re gentler than I am when I tattoo myself,” he says. He watches him wipe blood and ink away. A thought strikes him. “Do you feel thirsty doing that?”
Louis’ hand stills momentarily.
“Just a question,” Harry says tentatively.
“I always feel thirsty around you,” Louis says, his gaze focused intently on the tattoo. “I’ve said so before.”
“But not literally.”
“No, literally.”
“So, even after you’ve fed?”
“I’ve said so before,” Louis says again. “Even when I’ve fed, the thirst is still there. Just…quieter or something.”
“So, if you could keep drinking, you would?”
Louis pauses and looks at him, lifting the needle away from Harry’s skin. “I don’t get the question.”
Harry's senses tingle slightly due to a subtle shift in Louis' mood. He tries to choose his words carefully, but no matter how he twists and shapes the sentences in his head nothing really works.
“I’d never hurt you,” Louis says. “It’s impossible for me to hurt you. Because I love you and you’re my mate. And if something were to happen to you and you weren’t here, I wouldn’t want to be either.”
“I know that,” Harry says quietly. And he should leave it there, but— “I don’t know if that fully answers the question.”
“Have you got infinite blood? ‘Cause that’d be news to me. There’s no universe where if I kept drinking, it wouldn’t kill you, is there? So, no. The answer is fuck no.”
“Why are you getting so angry? It’s just a question.”
“Why are you asking me if I want to drain you of blood?” Louis fires back.
“It’s not like it’d kill me, Louis. I’d come back.”
Louis blinks. “What?”
“I can’t die. We’ve established that.”
“But you did die!” Louis says. His voice breaks. His jaw locks. Willow finally appears in the room and curls herself around Louis’ ankle. After a breath, Louis tries again. “Your heart stopped for long enough that you were dead. I know it.”
“Yes, but I came back,” Harry says.
“But you still died, yeah? Whether you came back or not, you’d be dead. So, no, I don’t want to fucking kill you. I don’t think about it. I don’t want to think about it.”
“Okay.”
“Now, explain to me why it sounds like you want me to?” And when Harry doesn’t immediately refute that, Louis’ eyes go wide. He puts the needle down on the sterile tray beside them with the small ink pots and stained tissues. “Are you actually serious right now?”
Harry just wants to be honest. Because truthfully, he never considered these thoughts so egregious, but he also never dared to share them with Louis either. Now, that he mostly has, it feels deceitful to not come out with all of it. And he’s also learned that it’s better to expose the whole truth as uncomfortable and as painful as it may be. Better to do that than spend an eternity keeping this to himself.
“Before, when I thought I’d die from the curse, I thought about it,” Harry says. “But only ‘cause I feel safest with you, and it seemed like the most ideal way to go if I had to go at all.”
Louis laughs. Actually cackles. And stands. “Good thing you didn’t think to ask. I would’ve assumed you’d gone completely insane.” He yanks his latex glove off and tosses it onto the coffee table.
“Where are you going?”
“I need a drink,” Louis says, strolling off towards the kitchen.
Harry puts his face in his palms for a moment. They bicker on occasion, solely because they’re both stubborn, highly opinionated people. But he can’t remember the last time either of them was genuinely cross with the other. He feels Louis’ cloying anger even when they’re in separate rooms.
Willow lingers in the corridor, visibly uncertain about who needs the most comfort. Mentally, Harry sends her to Louis. He could use a drink himself. He loiters there on the couch for a minute or two longer, waiting for Louis to come back. And when he doesn’t, Harry sighs and goes after him.
In the kitchen, Louis has a beer open in front of him while he taps away furiously at his phone.
“Will you please relax?” Harry asks.
“No, I don’t think so,” Louis says. “Here we are having a nice night and you reveal you’ve got a death kink or whatever it is.”
“I haven’t got a death kink,” Harry says. “For fuck’s sake…”
Louis sets his phone down. “When you had that thought back then, did you also consider what it’d be like for me? To watch you slip away? To be the cause of that?”
“I did, actually. Which is why I didn’t bring it up back then. I knew you wouldn’t do it.”
“Because I can’t.”
“Fine. But you clearly don’t know how it feels for me either. On the receiving end of things. It’s like…euphoric. It feels like I could just sink into it and stay there forever. And I’m sorry if that worries you or whatever. I’m not saying I want to die. I’m not saying I want you to kill me. I’m saying when you feed, if there was a way to feel the way I feel infinitely, I wouldn’t be opposed to it. I’m just saying I’ve thought about it. That’s all.”
“But that’s impossible. Without me killing you.”
“Yes, you’ve said. I get it.”
“I could never.”
“You said that too,” Harry says. “There’s the blood curse anyway, so—”
“Even without the blood curse…never.”
“Okay,” Harry says. “I’m sorry I mentioned it at all, alright? Can you finish my tattoo, please? Before you get drunk?”
Louis rolls his eyes and has another swig of his beer.
“I’m sorry,” Harry says again. “Come on, Lou, please?”
Louis looks at him, his eyes slightly narrowed as he thinks. With a shake of his head and a sigh, he says, “Yeah, alright,” and starts back to the living room. Quietly he puts his glove back on and sterilises the needle. Then he starts on the tattoo again.
Harry pushes his fingers through Louis’ fringe. “Are you cross with me?”
“No,” Louis says. “Just let me concentrate. Or I’ll tattoo a penis here and be done with it.”
“I don’t mind a penis, though, do I?”
“A lopsided one,” Louis clarifies. “With very hairy wrinkly balls.”
Harry laughs and relaxes his arm. “Such an arsehole.”
“I can add one of those too.”
When they laugh, the tiny hint of tension left between them is hardly of any consequence at all. And later, when they crawl into bed, Louis draws him into his arm like always. Harry traces his collarbone with his fingertip while listening to Willow scurrying about on the floor. For a cat who can phase silently through the air, she’s making plenty of noise with every move. When she darts up onto the bed and then immediately flings herself to the floor, Louis laughs.
“You wouldn’t think a familiar would get the Zoomies, would you?” Harry says.
“She’s just like any cat, I guess,” Louis says.
“I don’t think she’d like that,” Harry says. “I think she considers herself a very unique, one-of-a-kind cat.”
“Makes sense, considering who she’s bound to.”
“Are you saying I think too highly of myself?”
“No,” Louis says. “You should think highly of yourself. And you’re definitely one of a kind.”
Harry smiles. “So are you. There could never be anyone like you.”
Louis turns and presses a kiss on Harry’s forehead. Harry nestles more comfortably into Louis’ side, his eyes slipping shut.
“I’m sorry I lost it a bit earlier,” Louis says quietly.
“It’s okay. I’m sorry I brought it up.”
“You don’t have to be sorry. I don’t want you to feel like you can’t share things with me. Even something like that.”
“I don’t. But if it’s something you’re uncomfortable with, I should be more careful. And I will be.”
Then there’s silence and more inexplicable tension. Harry suddenly feels less sleepy than he did seconds ago. He lifts his head off Louis’ shoulder and looks at him.
“It’s impossible for me to do it, I mean that,” Louis says, meeting his gaze.
“I know, Louis,” Harry says. “And I’m not asking you to.”
“But I am who I am,” Louis goes on. “Or what I am. So it’d be a lie to say I haven’t thought about it.”
Harry hesitates. “About draining…”
Louis pinches his eyelids. “Don’t say it like that.”
“Okay. How would you put it then?”
“There’ve been times after I’ve fed, especially…if we’re fucking at the same time, when I want to drink again or I want to keep drinking, even though I know… And there was a time when I was drunk and it was a little hard to stop.”
As he speaks, he doesn’t look at Harry. As if he’s ashamed. Harry reclines again and takes Louis’ face between his palms.
“Look at me. That’s alright,” Harry says. “I love you. I love how much you want me.”
Louis winces at that. “That makes it sound more innocent than it is.”
“Whatever. I won’t lie and say it’s not…sort of exciting? And like…It’s not that much different from when you choke me a little, is it?”
“It’s completely different.”
“Not to me. Not completely. You say you wouldn’t hurt me but spanking hurts,” Harry says with a laugh. “And I like it.”
“Also, different.”
“If you say so,” Harry says. “I know that for you it’s something you have to control. For me, I know you’re in control, so I don’t worry. I just let go. And it feels nice to let go. I know you’ve got me.”
“I do,” Louis says. “Always.”
“You’re getting enough to drink, though, yeah? Like that’s not the reason you want to keep going, is it?”
“Trust me, it’s not. I get enough,” Louis says.
“You’re just greedy then.”
“I’m a vampire,” Louis says. “Greed is what we’re all about.”
“You’re not like most vampires, though.”
“Maybe not, but there are things that are just biological. Like my bond with you. Can’t do anything about that. And no matter what, if you say something like you said today, offering yourself up like that, there’s a part of me, even if it’s small, that wants to take you up on it. And just…devour you.”
Harry looks at his mouth. “And I’m meant to be afraid of that?”
“Maybe,” Louis says. “Not of me, but the general idea of a vampire wanting you in that way, yeah.”
“You’re the only vampire that matters.”
Louis grins, his ego visibly stroked. Harry can’t take his eyes off of him.
“If it were any other vampire, I’d never say the things I said today. It’s only because it’s you. I trust you. Completely.”
Louis looks at him. He takes Harry’s hand and presses a quick kiss to his palm. “I can’t do it, though.”
“I know,” Harry says. “I thought I lost you that day too, you know? I felt like I couldn’t breathe. And like the world was closing in on me or something. So, I know what it’s like. And I’d never want you to have to go through that again.”
Louis nods. “Me neither.”
Harry looks at his mouth again. “But I think you should feed,” he says. “Right now.”
Louis lifts his brows. With a small exhale, he says, “You’re going to be the death of me.”
“Literally the opposite. I’m offering you a late-night snack.”
Louis laughs. “You’re definitely that,” he says. He licks his lips. Then, after a second, he leans in and kisses Harry slowly, capturing his jaw between his fingers and his thumb. He kisses him for so long Harry nearly forgets what they were talking about at all. He’s hypnotized by Louis’ tongue against his own. He’s lulled by the comfort of their bodies close.
Their lives are not perfect because no one’s is. They still have occasional worries, especially when they have to decide which parties and gatherings to attend back home when everywhere they go, they’re a topic of discussion or gossip. Returning to Ravenoir even for short periods is often stressful. And like earlier has proven, they can still misunderstand each other.
Life might not be perfect but being with Louis is. There’s nothing questionable or unsatisfactory about this kiss or the way Louis holds him. There’s nothing as sublime as the moment he pulls away suddenly, holds Harry’s jaw firmly and sinks into his jugular.
Harry shudders and digs his fingers into Louis’ bicep. The burst of pain is quickly washed over with warmth that floods his whole body. His head feels light and airy as if he’s floating on a cloud. Weightless and worriless with nothing to fear. With Louis’ need so evident and certain and all-encompassing.
Louis pulls away with a deep breath and kisses him again. Now that Harry can move, he moves with purpose, shoving Louis' pyjamas down past his waist, wrestling with his own.
“Thought I was only getting a late-night snack,” Louis says.
“It’s more like a late-night buffet,” Harry says. “All you can eat.”
Louis laughs as he sinks down Harry’s body, leaving kisses all along his chest and abs. “Mm, I do like the sound of that,” he says.
Harry will have to blame it on all the pent-up tension, good and bad, but when Louis deepthroats his cock, he thinks he could come with just another second more of that pressure. Then Louis pulls off, smiling as if he knows it, and licks a few times along the length of his cock instead. Because as he’s clarified thoroughly today, Louis is a vampire. Vampires like to toy with and tease their prey. And Harry knows Louis doesn’t think of him as prey, but sometimes Harry feels like he is. And he doesn’t mind at all.
The truth is that Harry would bare every part of himself to Louis without hesitation or fear. He would accept whatever Louis wanted to give or take from him. Maybe if it were another vampire, that sort of thinking would be insane. But it’s solely this vampire who matters. No other would do.
He often likes to hold Louis atop him after they’ve come to prolong the closeness. He likes the weight of him. He likes running his fingers through his hair until Louis drifts off. "Louis?"
"Hm?"
“It’s not difficult, is it? Feeling thirsty all the time?” Harry asks quietly. Because the thought is on his mind and if he doesn’t ask, he’ll just stay awake worrying about it.
“No,” Louis says sleepily. “Not at all."
"You're sure?"
"I promise," Louis says. He draws a breath. "Thirst is tied to emotion. Like lust and love… And you’re a triple threat, that’s all. You’re hot. You taste incredible. Can’t help that. And I wouldn’t want it any other way.”
Harry smiles. "Makes sense..." He listens to Louis’ breathing evening out. He feels his limbs loosening further. “Wait, what’s the third thing?”
“What?”
“You said triple threat.”
“Oh,” Louis says. “You’re hot. You taste incredible.”
“Yeah?”
“Are you fishing for compliments?”
“Just tell me,” Harry pleads.
“You’re the love of my life, Harry,” Louis says. “I reckon that’s the biggest one of all.”
It’s not the first time Louis has said so, but it’s also impossible to get used to something like that. Hearing the person he loves most affirm the inverse is true will never cease to amaze him. So, he feels his eyes prickle slightly, but he doesn’t actually burst into tears or anything. He simply wraps his arms more tightly around his fiance. “And you’re mine.”
“I know,” Louis says. “Can I sleep now, babe?”
“Yeah. I love you.”
“I love you too.”
“Good night.”
“Night,” Louis says.
“I love you so much.”
“Harry.”
“Okay. Sleep well.”
“You too,” Louis says. And then after a second, he whispers, “I love you.”
Willow hops up onto the bed in the midst of their laughter at which point, they mutually decide to turn their love on her. Because great love is also infinite, which means there’s plenty to spare.

Sally Michel’s story cannot be told without bringing in her life partner, Milton Avery.
Milton Avery (1885-1965) and Sally Michel (1902-2003) met painting in Gloucester, Massachusetts in 1924. They admired each other’s dedication to sketching all day. Married in 1926, Sally and Milton worked in New York as a unit until Milton’s death in 1965. To provide support, Sally worked as a freelance illustrator, an occupation she could pursue at home. This allowed her to remain by the side of Milton and their young daughter, while continuing to develop her own painting. The couple would rise at six in the morning and draw or paint straight through to dinner. Sally was gregarious and Milton was taciturn, so she became his spokesman. Every Saturday they went to New York’s galleries and museums. They continued to sketch from a model at the Art Students League and later with a group of their artist-friends, at each other’s studios. Through the 1930s, fellow artists of Sally’s generation, including Mark Rothko, Adolph Gottlieb, and Barnett Newman frequently came to the Avery home to discuss art. By the mid-1940s Milton and Sally had each developed their own parallel but unique approaches to painting.
The refinement of their artistic visions evolved over many years of sketching, painting, looking, and sharing ideas on art. The Averys structured their year so that summers could be shared creating together and later with their artist-daughter March (b. 1932). Because rental apartments in New York were plentiful, Milton and Sally were able to leave the City each summer and return in the fall. They sketched non-stop on their trips, gathering source material for future paintings to be executed in the studio. A list of the summer trips gives some indication of which location inspired a painting’s subject. With limited funds in the 1930s, the Averys drove to summer locations in Connecticut (1930), Gloucester, Massachusetts (1926-1933), Vermont (1937, 1939, 1940), and the Gaspé Peninsula, Québec (1938).
Sally Michel did paint directly from nature throughout her career, but developed most of her artwork from sketches. She often created an intermediary watercolor or gouache that then informed the finished oil, transmitting a mood, time of day, weather, or season. The fluidity and luminosity of gouache and watercolor provided freedom to experiment with color and tone, which could be duplicated on canvas by painting with thinned pigments. To create an overall textural softness, Sally used a stiff brush to apply matte pigments in thin layers. If a pigment became too thick it could be scraped from the canvas to reveal lower coats of pigment and achieve the desired tone. In looking over a group of sketches to select one to paint, Sally considered contrasts between straight and curving lines, discrepancies in scale, and different views of a single scene. Sally’s portraits of individuals were often close-ups isolated against flat backgrounds. Scale distortion, exaggerated color, or caricature could provide social commentary when she desired it. This sketch-to-painting approach allowed Sally to achieve simplified and abstracted shapes locked together into finely balanced compositions.
Milton and Sally Michel Avery were artists dedicated to painting what they saw at a time of uncertainty for realism in American art. From 1946 to 1958 Abstract Expressionism, a gestural or action painting style with roots in European Surrealism, was at its height of popularity. Abstract Expressionists considered any reference to recognizable imagery to be parochial, out of date, and taboo. The Averys saw that bridges between realism and abstraction can go both ways and color, structure, and light are the common denominators. This realization led to recognizing that shapes, spaces, and color form a set of unique relationships independent of any subject matter. The Averys modernized realism by using the shapes of things, the spaces around them, and color in new ways. They treated color less naturalistically to reflect mood and transcend the factual aspects of realistic subjects.
Realism traditionally relies on light and dark contrasts to create depth. They found the use of non-naturalistic color suppressed that contrast and led to a new challenge of how else to produce depth. The solution they found was that a highly structured composition would still be read as a landscape, still life, or figure. To capture further universality and interconnections in their paintings, the Averys worked with shapes and their edges. They used thinly applied paint so the canvas ground was revealed around the edges of shapes, making the bare canvas function as color. The boundaries of soft shapes could be achieved through intricate color transitions, creating contiguous forms that blend into one another. This approach led to a new and important discovery that the distinctions between objects in a painting are fundamentally illusions and that the borders between shapes are what create representational art.
The Averys also found that reducing the number of shapes and colors in a painting and eliminating illusionistic rounded volumes and modeled forms added modernity to a scene. Shape and color could become equal when shapes were used as containers of color and that areas of color could be stacked as abstract signs of foreground, middle ground, distance, and sky. The Averys used patterns, organic or geometric, to express the forces as well as the forms of nature. Liquid or transparent areas of paint could embody the forces of wind and water. This demonstrated that painterly surfaces associated with the Abstract Expressionists could be used in realism to express more than angst.
In March of 1964 Milton’s health put him in a New York hospital where he died in January of 1965. Sally worked tirelessly to ensure Milton’s legacy while also continuing to paint and evolve the way she used materials for another twenty-five years. To achieve a dry paint surface with a soft matte feel, she mixed large amounts of turpentine with her paint rather than linseed oil. Always frugal with pigment, Sally used rags to moderate layers of color in a shape, and added luminosity by tinting colors with white pigment. Her experimentation with color harmonies was often daring. When she wanted textural interest or to bring attention to the two-dimensional surface of a canvas, she scratched into the paint. In the figures, animals, still lifes, and landscapes she painted, Sally worked to achieve mood and movement rather than detailed representation. She continued to find her imagery in the visible world, often inspired by her own travels abroad. To present it in a modern way took careful consideration and skill in her non-associative color choices for mood, selection and placement of realistic shapes, and attention to the edges of her reductive forms to achieve flattened compositions. In her art, Sally Michel understood and adapted elements from the two streams of representation and abstraction to refresh realism, keeping it relevant after Abstract Expressionism.

THE FRIDAY PIC shows a pair of little sculptures, under 10″ tall, from Natia Lemay’s new solo show at Yossi Milo gallery in Chelsea. I wrote a few words about these pieces for today’s New York Times, pasted at the bottom of this post.
But I didn’t have space to discuss how Lemay’s work reveals the complexities of any discussion of “native culture,” rather than taking the concept for granted. As I said in the Times, the format of Lemay’s carvings gives them links to totem poles — usually associated with First Nations of the West Coast. The soapstone they are carved from tends to evoke the Inuit and Eskimo peoples of the far north, and their vexed relationship with “fine-art sculpture” in the European sense. So what does it mean for a fine artist like Lemay, with roots among the Mi’kmaq of the East Coast, to call on those “foreign” traditions? Her pieces don’t answer that question, but they manage to raise it in powerful ways.
And here’s my Times review:
Three tiny sculptures, each less than 10 inches tall, fill all the psychic room in Natia Lemay’s solo at Yossi Milo.
She stacks up miniature versions of banal furnishings — a chair, a sofa, a rocking horse — glued one on top of the other. Carved from soapstone, they copy the crude softwood miniatures that kids build from dollhouse kits.
Lemay was born into hardship in Toronto, with roots in African-Canadian culture and among the Mi’kmaq peoples of Canada’s East Coast. Her generic home goods seem to commemorate the rough years she spent moving between public housing, homeless shelters and low-end rentals. I think of her sculptures as “memory towers,” and their diminutive scale seems to concentrate their energies rather than diminish them. (Don’t memories always feel small — small enough to fit into a skull?)
Lemay links her towers to the Native art of the totem pole, which makes sense in terms of their form and mnemonic function.
The soapstone she uses, some of which came to her from her father, also recalls Indigenous crafts. Using that material to render the troubled urban world she has known, Lemay claims it as her continuing birthright. She reclaims it from the decades it has spent in the tourist trade.
There are also 20 oil paintings in Lemay’s show. To me, they accept the authority of the old master tradition rather than pushing back against it. But then, I feel that way about most recent painting. Lemay’s terrific little sculptures seem more like hand grenades, primed to blow a hole in our hierarchies.

Sibiiiiiiiii! Thank you!!! I 💜 you!!! And yes please write the Greece trip/ Kook’s trip and tell us where else these hot vampires own property! 😩😩😩 As if they weren’t hundreds of years old and hot as fuck, they own villas and castles and houses all over?! 😩😩😩 Please give us as many HCs as you want!
Of course they do 😏😩 I mean djsjs not all of them obviously. Hear me out
Jungkook is the BROKEST vampire ever. Because of his curse, he couldn’t ever get a real job which in return meant that he never aquired enough money to invest it in passive income. So that man is as broke as one could get jsjsjs.
Hobi has decent amount of money. He came from a upper middle class family and saved enough money to invest in a small passive income, which has gathered a good amount these days. But because he is still technically only in his sixties, his wealth is very much in human levels still.
Jimin is the third brokest vamp of the bunch. Example given: how he had to live while he was still persumed dead. I mean, one could argue that he was in hiding and didn’t want to risk getting found out, but there is also a good possibility that he is simply broke in vampire terms. Most property he owns, Tae either bought for him or they bought it together. And then there was also the whole part of where he had to live as Namjoon’s slave for centuries, so he didn’t really have alot of opportunity to, you know, buy property. He does have a very healthy sum on his bank accounts though, mostly because of the shared property with Tae and because Tae is tranferring him money on a monthly basis.
I would place Seokjin next. This man was already wealthy when he was still human and had two properties and some factories/warehouses as well as ships in his human years and he also invested in a lot of start-ups which bring in a lot of money these days. He is actually a huge stock holder in the mobile phone market and has his fingers in other techonological fields as well. For properties he owns the one Sanguis spent their "frat years" in, owns a house in South Korea and bought Emma her own shop in town so she could expand her perfume business. He also owns an apartment complex where he gets constant income. Fun fact? OC actually rented an apartment in the complex when she first moved here, which is why she never got in trouble for randomly stopping to pay rent. She and Seokjin laugh about the coincidence these days. He gets most of his money from his countless shares though.
And now this is where it gets hard to talk about because damn those vampires are RICH jdjdjs they're old, they've seen too much and they got way too much money to spend.
Taehyung I'd place third. He's both share holder in many businesses, owner of multiple art galleries and possesses property which is used commercially, as rentals or as his private escapes. So passive income is very much guaranteed on a constant. He owns a homely cottage in the Austrian Alps, owns a chateau at the coast of France and a small farm in the French countryside, owns a little Greek ocean house and invested in apartments in Paris, New York, Hong Kong as well as London. If he spends money he spends it on new property, promising shares and other investments. If he spends fun money he spends it on trips, whatever expensive item suits his taste, art and fashion. He also regularly wires money to Jimin and ever since recently, he opened two separate accounts for Jungkook and OC where he also makes monthly deposites. Trust that this man does not feel any change in his numbers with those new tranfers. And also that he LOVES spending his money most when he can spend it on his darlings.
And then there is Yoongi. Woof woof. I would say that he and Tae aren’t that far apart actually despite their age difference. One must consider though that eventhough Yoongi’s been alive for ages, it was rather difficult to make money which can still be used in the 21st century. You get me? He does own a lot of castles though from the earlier days. The one they all currently live in he bought around the time of the French Revolution, but he owns another castle in Romania and one in Germany. He also owns a town mansion in Geneva and has a penthouse in New York, which he never uses. He won’t ever mention it, but he owns a private island in the Carribbeans and treated himself to a very secluded cottage somewhere in the deepest Canadian forests. He also forgot about it already, but he owns property in South Korea and a villa in Osaka. It brings in money as they are both used as rentals, but Yoongi hasn’t set foot in either of them in decades. He gets most of his passive income through the various rentals he owns as well as being shareholder in some of the biggest markets these days. He also regularly buys property and sells it again to a higher price. Right now he plans on buying a house with OC close to Meredith's place and he also thinks about surprising OC with her own small plant shop in town. He doesn’t transfer to their accounts, but he never says no. If anyone of the family wants something, he'll get it for them no questions asked. He will also regularly hand over his black card with a nonchalant "don't look at the numbers, princess" and he genuinely gets pouty when she wants to pay for something when he’s with her. This man always pays even if she sometimes complains about it. And no sum is ever too big for him. You remember those 100€ he gave her in Paris for a cab? Yeah that was the equivalent to a few cents for him.
I don’t know where to put Namjoon on the list because being stolen of his powers and then hidden from the world kinda just cut him off from his wealth. You know? I do believe though that in his prime, he was the richest. And also the one who spent his money on the most fucked up shit.

If you're planning an event in SoHo and in need of the perfect venue, here's a helpful guide on how to find the ideal event spaces Soho for your needs:
Define Your Requirements: Start by clearly defining the requirements and objectives of your event. Consider factors such as the type of event (e.g., corporate, social, cultural), the number of guests expected to attend, the desired ambiance and style, and any specific amenities or features you require. Having a clear understanding of your needs will help narrow down your search and find a venue that meets your criteria.
Research Online: Begin your search by exploring online platforms that specialize in event venue listings. Websites such as Peerspace, Eventective, and The Bash offer comprehensive databases of event spaces in SoHo and beyond, allowing you to browse through a wide range of options based on your preferences and budget. Take advantage of search filters to refine your results by location, capacity, amenities, and more.
Check Venue Directories: Many event venues in SoHo are listed in local venue directories and directories specific to event spaces. These directories often provide detailed information about each venue, including photos, descriptions, pricing, and contact details. Browse through these directories to discover hidden gems and lesser-known venues that may not appear in mainstream search results.
Utilize Social Media and Networking: Social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn can be valuable resources for discovering event spaces in SoHo. Follow event venues, event planners, and industry professionals in the area to stay updated on new openings, promotions, and special offers. Additionally, join relevant networking groups and communities to connect with others in the event planning industry and gain insider recommendations.
Attend Venue Open Houses and Showcases: Keep an eye out for venue open houses, showcase events, and industry networking mixers hosted by event venues in SoHo. These events provide an opportunity to tour the space, meet with venue staff, and envision how it would suit your event. Take advantage of these opportunities to ask questions, gather information, and assess the venue's suitability for your needs.
Schedule Site Visits: Once you've narrowed down your list of potential event spaces, schedule site visits to tour each venue in person. Pay attention to factors such as the layout, decor, lighting, acoustics, and overall ambiance. Take note of any amenities, such as audiovisual equipment, catering facilities, and parking options. Be sure to ask about rental rates, availability, and any additional fees or restrictions.
Read Reviews and Request References: Before making a final decision, read reviews and testimonials from past clients to gauge their experiences with the venue. Additionally, don't hesitate to request references from the venue's management or event coordinators. Speaking directly with previous clients can provide valuable insights into the venue's customer service, flexibility, and overall satisfaction.
By following these steps and utilizing the resources available, you can navigate SoHo's vibrant event scene with confidence and find the perfect venue to host your next memorable event. Whether you're planning a corporate meeting, a wedding reception, or a social gathering, SoHo offers an abundance of event spaces to suit every style and occasion.

Lennon and Yoko Ono’s First New York Home Is on the Market for $5.5 Million

The couple bought the two-storey property as Lennon released his "Imagine" album.
Yoko Ono and John Lennon's First New York Home Hits the Market
John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s first New York property has gone on the market for $5.5 million.
The couple bought the two-story, loft-style building at 496 Broome Street in SoHo following their relocation to the city in 1971, after the Beatles broke up.
They moved in just as Lennon released his second studio album, Imagine.
The Broome Street purchase came after stays at the St. Regis Hotel and a rental apartment at 105 Bank Street in the West Village.
It became a meeting spot for artists, musicians, poets, and more.
A man and a woman sitting at a desk in front of a bank of microphones
It was later used as a recording studio, as well as a base for other creative projects once the couple decamped to their more famed address at the Dakota, on Central Park West and 72nd Street.
The couple went on to own five units in this luxurious co-op, which was known for housing a number of celebrities.

Ono now lives on a farm in the Catskills and still owns an apartment at the Dakota, but she has decided to part with the Broome Street building after 53 years.
Real estate services company JLL is selling the property on behalf of Ono and her son, Sean Ono Lennon.
The property was built around 1920 and features an Art Deco façade with a decorative checkerboard of glass squares, accompanied by curved cast-iron railings, and a redbrick upper, complete with ornamental facing.
Despite its seemingly diminutive stature, it features 3,832 square feet of space, including an open-plan living area featuring hardwood floors, leading to a bedroom loft with a large skylight.
Alongside two “gallery” areas, there is a fully sound-proofed recording studio and a considerable cellar.
The slick, modern feel is seemingly at odds with a more decadent bathroom, which features a roll-top bath with brass finishings.

The property is currently vacant, apart from a few white goods and a safe.
It comes with 4,600 square feet of air rights, meaning that it could be extended upwards by several floors.
A statement on the listing’s executive summary reads, “With its premier location, versatile zoning, and unique historic pedigree in global popular culture, 496 Broome Street represents an amazing opportunity to own a special piece of New York history in one of its most desirable and trendsetting neighborhoods.”

How to purchase a brand-new home in Brooklyn's Williamsburg
The Brooklyn neighborhood of New York City contains the Williamsburg neighborhood. Its location on the East River is bounded to the north by Greenpoint, to the south by Bedford-Stuyvesant, to the east by Bushwick, and to the west by the East River.
Williamsburg used to be a working-class area with a sizable Puerto Rican, Polish, and Italian immigrant population. It has experienced fast gentrification recently and is now a well-liked vacation spot for young professionals and artists.
With its abundance of galleries, live music venues, and performance spaces, Williamsburg is renowned for its thriving arts and music scene. A wide variety of tastes and interests are catered to by its numerous hip boutiques, cafes, pubs, and restaurants.
The Brooklyn Brewery, which provides tours and samples of its regionally brewed beers, is one of Williamsburg's most well-liked tourist destinations. Many parks and outdoor areas can be found in the neighborhood, including McCarren Park, which has a pool, sports fields, and a running track.
Many subway lines, bus lines, and the East River Ferry, which offers a beautiful journey to Manhattan and other areas of Brooklyn, are among the transportation choices in Williamsburg.

Residing in Brooklyn's Williamsburg
It can be thrilling and energetic to live in Williamsburg. The area offers a blend of modern conveniences and old-world beauty, and there is always something to do or see.
Williamsburg housing costs can be high, particularly in the more upscale neighborhoods close to the water. Nonetheless, the northern and eastern portions of the area also offer more affordable options. Many locals reside in remodeled lofts and apartments, while others like the comfort of contemporary high-rise structures.
There are numerous bars, clubs, and music venues in Williamsburg, which is well renowned for its vibrant nightlife and entertainment scene. Also, there are lots of eateries and coffee shops that offer a variety of cuisines and can accommodate different dietary needs.
Williamsburg offers easy access to transportation, with numerous bus and subway lines serving the area. A beautiful alternative for getting to Manhattan and other areas of Brooklyn is the East River Ferry. Also, there are numerous bike lanes and rental alternatives, making biking a popular mode of transportation.
The fast gentrification and rising cost of living in Williamsburg are two possible drawbacks. Long-term inhabitants have been displaced in some cases as a result, and the neighborhood's distinctive character has been lost. Yet, a large number of neighborhood organizations and activists are trying to protect Williamsburg's distinctive identity and advance possibilities for affordable housing. How to purchase a brand-new home in Brooklyn's Williamsburg
The process of purchasing a new home in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, can be difficult, but it can be simplified by doing the following:
Establish your budget: Setting your budget is the first step in purchasing a home in Williamsburg. Decide how much you can afford to spend on a new home after taking your income, savings, and debt into account.
Study the market: Find out the going rates for houses in the neighborhood by looking into the Williamsburg real estate market. To have a better grasp of the neighborhood real estate market, search online listings, visit open houses, and consult a local real estate agent.
Get mortgage pre-approval: Before looking at homes, obtain mortgage pre-approval. This will help you determine your spending limit more accurately and will increase your appeal to sellers.
Get a neighborhood real estate agent: Work with a neighborhood real estate agent with Williamsburg home buying and selling experience. They can assist you in navigating the neighborhood market, haggling with sellers, and locating the ideal residence for your requirements.
Tour houses and submit an offer: Make an offer on a house you like after visiting properties that suit your tastes and financial situation. Your real estate agent can assist you in negotiating with the seller and can also walk you through the offer submission procedure.
Complete the transaction: After your offer has been accepted, you must complete the transaction. A house inspection, financing, and the completion of the purchase agreement are all included in this. Working with a neighborhood real estate agent and conducting research can make the process of buying a new home in Williamsburg smoother and more successful.
