We have been sharing incredible women who exhibit rising feminine leadership and the powerful messages that drive them to shine for Women’s History Month this past week and I’m stoked to introduce you to Stephanie Satchouk. As a sister slow fashion movement change maker she’s a gal after my own heart! Stephanie owns Recycle Bridal Boutique, a second hand bridal shop in San Ramon, California which was voted Best Bridal Shop in the East Bay in 2022! She says “Everything in my shop has been bought second hand - even the furniture! I take dresses back from my happily married brides, and consign them, so they have yet another lifecycle of re-use. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the demand for new goods dropped significantly? We can get there… and then companies would produce less, meaning less toxic water, dyes and chemicals ending up in our waterways, soil and air! I do everything I can to reduce, reuse, and recycle. For example, in my shop, I reuse shipping materials when mailing a dress. I use my dress tags twice/on both sides before they go into the recycling bin. I serve water from a pitcher, in washable glasses instead of individual waters in plastic bottles. I reuse garment bags when the bride takes her dress home. I don’t print receipts; I email them.
