The thing that would be really cool about this particular poster (since it is familiar) is if this version is the same background but instead of their backsides that are encased in shadow, it would reveal them from the front in full view and in detail....Hopefully!
Yeah so with the Blu-ray rereleases being released month by month made me believe that there’s going to be some kind of big v10 update at the end of it…. And I just got the v1 blu-ray in the mail today. That “exclusive art card” that comes with it has a piece of the v10 concept art on the back

Why even include that if you weren’t building up to an announcement about v10

i've got the blu ray for volume 1 playing and i'm watching the behind the scenes video and Monty explicitly spells out how important collaboration with other creatives was in building RWBY, saying how he wanted to work with Kerry and Miles on it in creating the world and how he mostly gave them broad strokes. and it's mentioned how they all put the show bible together - i'm gonna put the whole transcript for the video under the cut (which i'm having to do myself because no one has uploaded this video anywhere as far as i can tell and there's no fucking subtitles)
Monty Oum [Creator and Director]: It’s the stories I’ve always wanted to tell versus the idea I came up with about, a little over a year ago. And we were talking about doing another show, and I just kind of half-asleep came up with the idea of a color rule for a bunch of characters. The red, white, black and yellow color scheme was something that was very prominent even in my previous work, so I started matching names up, matching ideas up. Also thinking about like, some of the ideas I’d stored up over the years. At some point or another the word ‘RWBY’ came to me.
Monty: Starting the show out originally, I designed the original character, Ruby, as well as going into the other characters. So once I had the first trailer done, and thinking about the rest of the characters for the show, I started bringing in other artists who I had watched for years. People I’d always said “someday I’ll work with them, someday I’ll have them design for me.” And when I was certain about having certain characters, I first contacted an artist I admired and found over DeviantArt. Her name was Ein Lee, she’s actually from Taiwan, and I found her art probably well over five years ago, and just loved her art style, and therefore wanted to incorporate it into my characters. So, I would do rough designs for team RWBY as well as designs for team JNPR, and she would flesh that out to be even further. To the point where eventually I didn’t need to design characters anymore, she started designing a bunch of the rest of the characters down the line.
Monty: The second person I brought on to RWBY was Kerry, because we had just been having conversations about the kind of show we could make. I’d been working with Miles on Season 10. He was writing scenes while I was making scenes, and so the three of us would have a lot of meetings and collaborate on the show to the point where I just started coming up with the broad strokes eventually and they had pretty much written the bulk of the show. Collaboration’s a big deal here, and I tried to include as many people as I can.
Kerry Shawcross [Co-writer]: Right after RvB ended, we wanted to just go straight into RWBY, but that was like right when we were going into commercial season. So we would work our normal hours here. Like 10 to 7-ish, then we would go back to one of our apartments and just start writing.
Miles Luna [Co-writer]: Monty really was enthusiastic about having these characters that may appear really one-dimensional for like the first few scenes that you see them, but the longer you get to know them, you realise “Oh, Yang isn’t just a dumb blonde party girl. She’s a very caring and nurturing girl, that has had to essentially be there for Ruby when she was young.”
Kathleen Zuelch [Producer]: When Monty and Miles and Kerry came to me, and really took me through the story. I started becoming a huge believer, because I’m a big fan of old school, traditional fairy tales, I love the Brothers Grimm, I love all the Snow White, and I love Little Red Riding Hood. I grew up with all of those stories, and the way that they were very clever in creating this whole world that’s kind of making homage to all of these amazing stories really inspired me to get more on board with what they wanted to do with this whole anime show.
Taylor McNee (née Pelto) [Art Director]: The world of RWBY, it looks very familiar. We wanted a blend of very classic looking architecture and clothing and cars, but we’re also mixing in this really kind of futuristic feel, like these little touches of some really futuristic stuff like holograms and things that you wouldn’t find in a classic [inaudible]. And that’s how we’re making this world unique. Our assets have to go through this pipeline of concept, modelling, texturing, and then finally being able to be put into the 3D program. So we start out with the concept and we usually bring that image into Maya, which is the main 3D software that we use. We have to make a 3D model that looks exactly like the concept that we were given, and it’s quite a process. Basically, we’re pushing polys and extruding stuff until we make the perfect shape, then afterwards we have to UV unwrap it, and then lay everything out on a texture sheet and then paint it, and that will put the image on the model. After that we’re basically done with the model and texture, and then we have to give it to the animators. So then we will set it up in Poser so the animators can grab it and use it for their characters.
Gray Haddock [Lead Editor]: There’s a lot of people working on this show, and there’s a lot of different elements in the pipeline. Editorial kinda serves as a hub between all the different departments, so we help all the communication and coordination between all the different pieces of the show, depending on what part of development that they’re in. Editorial’s getting involved way early in the process, we work alongside the director and the writers and the storyboard artists, and we use the scripts to help develop the storyboards and the camera angles for all those boards. So editorial is responsible for building up the moments of any given scene in terms of the timing and what you wanna look at, at any given moment. So we take the script and we help develop the camera angles and how long you wanna linger in a particular camera angle, look at one character or another or the scene as a whole, and the rhythm of the scene in terms of how long is it gonna take to spend on a particular line or when you want the music to come in, things like that. So we build up a set of animatics with the storyboards, and the first pass of all the audio. This is what then is handed off to the animators, so they can know exactly what is in what shot and how long do they have to animate it in a given shot. And once they’re done animating and their shot’s been approved, then their shot goes to the render farm, we get the rendered shot back and we drop it into the timeline for our episode and finesse the cut a little bit if we have to. But for the most part, we’ve done our job right and everything should pretty much be locked in for the most part by the time we’re getting animation.
Kerry: What’s kinda interesting as we’re creating the characters is, we kinda knew what kind of character they’d be. We knew Ruby would act a certain way, we knew Weiss would act a certain way, but we didn’t really know much about them. So we would get to the point where we’d be figuring out plotlines or figuring out dialogue and we’d be like “What would Weiss say here? What would Nora say here?” And then it turned into “Oh well now we know.”
Miles: Obviously we put a lot of thought into Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang before we started writing the dialogue. I remember sitting upstairs and we made a show bible, and we’re starting- we talked about likes, dislikes, personality traits. One of the first things I remember making was “Weiss drinks coffee. Blake drinks tea.”
Kerry: It’s important. It sounds not important at all, but it’s very important. It says so much about them
Miles: But it’s so important. So much about them, also it says nothing about them. It was just like- that’s just what it is.
Monty: I want the show to have resonance with people who are growing up. Cos everyone’s story is the story of kind of becoming who they are. Especially these days when the path of becoming who you are tends to be marginalised with reality. Having done what I’ve done, where I’ve essentially dropped out of high school, started learning this stuff on my own, and therefore land in a position where I get to take the things I was dreaming about when I was growing up and make it real. I tend to get a lot of response from people who are also not sure what they’re meant to become, a lot of them also have the same bright imaginations and with the way the world is, the hardships of what it means to grow up tends to marginalise who you are, and I would hate that to happen to anyone because the future is in creativity and that’s not something you can just manufacture. I actually would like this show to grow up with the people, so unlike most shows where they tend to be ageless or age very slowly, I’d like our fifteen-year-old fans watching fifteen-year-old Ruby, when they’re twenty-five, to be watching twenty-five-year-old Ruby, and to actually have some resonance with the character. Probably one of my favourite types of feedback is to say “I know this person” or “this person is just like me,” and that’s probably one of the best things about coming up with these characters.

Honestly, the best thing Viz Media could do while figuring out how to handle the future of the series would be producing more shorts in the style of Beyond Volume 9.
They're probably cheaper to make than Chibi shorts or a full Volume, at the very least.
Another good idea could probably be a home-media release for RWBY Chibi. Seasons 1-3 + the Neon Konbini shorts (but probably not Neon Konbini itself, for copyright reasons).
If only because Chibi has NEVER been available offline, so the only short I could REALLY see being left out is the one where Nora drinks too much coffee and becomes a Funko Pop.
Why?
That's not really a Chibi Short, it's just a VERY funny advertisement for Rooster Teeth merch that isn't being sold anymore, and Viz Media doesn't even own the rights to half the merch being plugged (i.e. the Red vs Blue and Blue vs Red shirts that serve as the red pill and blue pill stand-ins in the Matrix parody).
But yeah, home media release for RWBY Chibi, plus more shorts in the style of Beyond Volume 9, would both be good ideas for Viz Media to pursue.
Heck, maybe put the Amity Arena Bios into a guidebook or Blu Ray bonus menu? There was some PRETTY important information in that now-defunct mobile game, so it WOULD be nice to get access to the bio that told us Gretchen was Hazel's TWIN sister and not significantly younger than him like Hazel regularly implied.
Heck, we could probably even get another RWBY Novel as well. I imagine a book would be cheaper to produce and publish than a movie or video game.
Speaking of video games, you know what would be nice?
Getting some closure on that Dr. Merlot cliffhanger from Grimm Eclipse! That sequel hook's been left unresolved for over a DECADE and it's PRETTY DANG CLEAR that the writers remember him, given that he got a mention in the second Justice League crossover movie! He was referenced in Amity Arena, Combat Ready, and APPARENTLY Japan-only Light Novel "RWBY: The Session".
Oh yeah, I almost forgot, think we could get THAT localized? It's been YEARS now! I would LOVE to be able to verify all the second-hand information I've heard about it! I know the broad strokes, but not if Merlot Industries was actually referenced in the text or not!
Ahem, sorry about that rant. It's just always bugged me that there's that bit of RWBY media I've got no access to.
Let's see, what else...
We might get reuploads of the Grimm Campaign!
That's something Viz Media has access to and doesn't necessarily need to make more of!

Do you have all of RWBY on Blu-Ray? Because I got a Vol 1-6 case offline and I'm wondering if I'm missing anything since it has no special features discs but the later, single volumes do.
I've got the same V1-6 set you do I believe. I think there were individual seasons sold at one point but I don't know if the contents were different.
But I think all the special features on the set (commentary, trailers, featurettes) are on the discs for each volume in the set.

So the RWBY V9 Blu-ray is out and it seems like people are talking about Weiss telling the team about Jaune and Penny 'offscreen' in episode 1.
I generally do agree that the fact that Weiss told the team should've been clearer, but I'm not super torn up over it like a lot of others seem to be.
I think the fact that Weiss told them isn't actually all that off screen, just not delivered clear enough. Weiss actually does talk about Penny in episode 1, it's just that her voice slowly gets harder to hear and Ruby faints. It's clear what Weiss is talking about, it's just not clear the level of detail she's delivering the story. Weiss' dialogue should've definitely gone on for longer before becoming inaudible.
Otherwise, I don't have the problem I've seen other people have where they wanted the talk to be a much bigger discussion. I think Ruby fainting and then mostly trying to ignore talking about it makes a lot of sense for the direction of the volume. Having the team slow down and talk runs antithetical to Ruby's tendency to bottle things up and inevitably hit the breaking point the volume was building towards.
I also agree with the decision to have Ruby internalize Penny's death as her fault rather than blame Jaune. Having Ruby blame Jaune for that takes away from Ruby's slowly degrading mental state and undercuts the things Penny's illusion says to Ruby if she didn't blame herself for her death.

[ original link to article ] [ Japanese interview article ]
( interview below the keep reading 👇🏼, using google translate so it may not be 100% correct 😅)
Top Anime Interview with Da Vinci "I want you to pay attention to the expressions of the rubies shown in the last scene" - "RWBY Ice and Snow Empire" Interview with Ami Koshimizu as Yang Xiao Long.
A new history of the "RWBY" series is now born.
In 2012, American creators who were influenced by Japanese anime created 3DCG animations and distributed them on the Internet. Cute girls swing huge weapons and decide on a sharp action. I was drawing the feeling and taste of Japanese hand-drawn anime in 3DCG. This work called "RWBY" attracts attention from Japanese anime people when it becomes a hot topic on the Internet. And when the Japanese dubbed version by Japanese voice actors was produced, the Japanese version of the DVD/Blu-ray Disc was released, the event screening at the theater, and the edited version of the TV broadcast was held.
The setting of the story is a world called Remnant. There were Grimms that threatened humanity and those who used the power called dust and semblances to fight. Ruby Rose, a 15-year-old girl, enters the Beacon Academy, a training school, aiming to be a hunter who will get rid of such a Grimm. Even now, about 10 years after the start of production, Rooster Teeth Productions in the United States is still producing new works, and it is a series that depicts a magnificent worldview and drama. From the "RWBY" series, "RWBY Ice and Snow Empire" was created by Japanese creators as a new work. Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long are guided by the new character Zion Seiden to confront the new Grimm.
In the dubbed version of the "RWBY" series, Ami Koshimizu plays the role of Yang Xiao Long. Yang is Ruby's older sister, and one of the irreplaceable companions who watch Ruby and fight together. As a mood maker of Team RWBY, we will liven up our work gorgeously.
How did she approach Yang from "RWBY Ice and Snow Empire"? She talked about the character named Yang and her feelings for the new work.
“Yang is the girl who embodies America's daily life the most.”
- The Japanese dubbed version of the "RWBY" series was first released in 2015. It's been 7 years this year. For Ms. Koshimizu, who has been involved in this work since the beginning, what is the charm of the "RWBY" series?
Ami Koshimizu (hereinafter referred to as Koshimizu): It's been a long time since I was involved in the Japanese dubbed version of the "RWBY" series. " I think the charm of the RWBY series is that comedy and seriousness coexist at the same time. Especially from "Volume 1" to "Volume 3" in the first half, I think the first attraction is the comedy line centered on school life and the worldview where serious and cool battle lines are depicted simultaneously. It is. In addition to that, especially the battle scene was drawn with a special camera angle that can be established because it is an animation, and I thought the sense was wonderful. To put it simply... the action scene is depicted in camera work like a Japanese robot anime.
- That's right! If you can enjoy the action of the so-called robot anime.
Koshimizu: In the "RWBY" series, something like the romance of robot anime is also included in the character's battle scene. That's where I feel respect for Japanese anime.
- So it's packed with the essence of Japanese anime.
Koshimizu: That's right. Not only that, but it also contains elements unique to the United States. " The RWBY series is made in the United States, so the so-called American life and American problems are often reflected here and there in the work. There are various races in the characters, and people who have various characteristics come out. In addition, we carefully incorporate expressions that have been attracting attention in the past few years, such as LGBTQ. In addition, Ruby and Yang are half-sisters, but if you imagine from the names, they probably have different races (Ruby Rose and Yang Xiao Long’s fathers are Taiyang Xiao Long). Among the very fun works, various possible elements are scattered, and I think that's very interesting.
- In the American "RWBY" series, Barbara Dunkelman plays Yang. Was there any influence of Barbara's play in dubbing?
Koshimizu: That's right. The actors in the original story are talking pretty fast and stuff a lot of information into one line. When we dub, speaking a line fast in a fast tempo is indispensable for building a character. For example, Blake is talking a little more calmly, especially Yang and Ruby have a fast tempo. However, there is an expression that can be done because of its speed, and I think that is a feature of the "RWBY" series.
―I think it's been a long time since I played the character Yang Xiao Long. How do you feel about the fun and difficulty of playing her?
Koshimizu: I think Yang is a girl who has a lot of American elements in the "RWBY" series. Pizza and popcorn seem to look good on you, and it seems to be the most embodied American everyday life. I cherished the feeling of being alive in the hope that I want to be free without being bound by the frame. She is Ruby's older sister, although her mother is different. I think of the talented ruby as a treasure. The place where Yang is nice is not to love Ruby in a box saying that everything is dangerous, but sometimes pushing her away, sometimes letting her free, keeping a firm distance and watching over her. That's right. When Ruby hits the wall, I'll listen to you and help you to solve it. I feel more like a mother than a sister. Of course, there are times when I can't stand it, but basically, there is a big pocket that throws it out into a wide world. I think this is Yang's deep love.
- As you can see from Ms. Koshimizu, what kind of girl is her sister Ruby?
Koshimizu: Ruby is troubled and often hits the wall, but every time she goes over that wall, she absorbs a lot of things like a sponge and level up. The girl who was wonderful shines more and more and becomes even more wonderful. You can't take your eyes off that kind of thing. I have a good sister and I have a high nose (laughs).
“I want you to feel Yang's subtle feelings in the bright lines.”
- How did you feel when you saw "RWBY Ice and Snow Empire" this time?
Koshimizu: The original "RWBY" series has not been completed yet, so when I first heard that a new "RWBY" series will be made in Japan, I was wondering what kind of work it would be. So when I learned the contents of "RWBY Ice and Snow Empire", I was surprised because it was a very challenging work. " Around the time of RWBY Volume 3, it was certainly depicted the family problems and relationships of Weiss, but it was a time when everyone was living a student life while having trouble, so it was drawn up to the deep part. She wasn't there. But I'm sure she's also conflicted in the deep part. That's what is depicted in "RWBY Ice and Snow Empire".
- In "RWBY Ice and Snow Empire", you specifically depicted the inside of Weiss as one world (empire).
Koshimizu: What I felt was the kindness of Weiss. Because I know the pain well, I can understand people's pain and be kind to people. You felt it deeply, didn't you? At the same time, Yang also has a problem. You're thinking about what I really want to be. So, if the timing had been misaligned, Yang might have collapsed too. Everyone, I had a feeling that I'll be myself tomorrow, so I think all the members will work together to help Weiss.
- What was your impression when you saw Weiss's Ice and Snow Empire?
Koshimizu: You showed me a lot of Weiss. Lolita Weiss, the giant Chibi Weiss, Negaweiss that makes you feel Winter's older sister... It was interesting to reflect things like Weiss's longing and fear. My younger brother Whitley (Schnee) is like a bat, but I think Whitley might have looked like that in Weiss when he was in reality (laughs). The characters in the work are in a very serious situation, but as a viewer, it was an exciting world.
- Yang will appear on a motorcycle.
Koshimizu: Yang likes to ride a motorcycle very much, so the battle scene when she rides a motorcycle was trying to exhilarate with her voice.
- Yang in the dream also had a slightly different image.
Koshimizu: Yang had a strong side of the mood maker, so she tried not to show her face that she was worried too much. I'm sure you're thinking a lot, but even if you think about it, there's a feeling that it's useless to think that there's no answer, and I thought that's how the balance of the team is established. Saying a line in a brighter tone than the other members is also a sign of Yang's seriousness. I value that sense of balance. I'm worried about Ruby, but I suppressed that feeling. " I'm a little worried about the line "Okay, leader." If you read this interview, I would be happy if you could feel the subtle feelings of Yang when reviewing "RWBY Ice and Snow Empire".
“Thank you very much for your hard work and I want to tell Hikasa (Yoko)”
- What was your impression of Negaweiss played by Yoko Hikasa?
Koshimizu: This time, Weiss is the main character. I think Hikasa (pron) was the hardest. I think that the assembling of emotions and the construction of words is different from the usual Weiss, and not only that ... a lot of Weiss will appear this time. It's Weiss, but I've played many roles that are not Weiss, so we have to play different nuances. If it's the original Weiss, I'm going to show you a blur of emotions that you can't hide your kindness while saying harsh things, and that you can't keep cool but cool, but this negative Weiss has tough emotions and cool emotions. You have to stick to it. It's surprisingly difficult not to shake your emotions like that. You can't be in a single tone, and you have to show one emotion firmly.
- Various types of Weiss, large and small, appear, and among them, Negaweiss is hostile to Faunas' break. Negaweiss has been making negative emotions all the time.
Koshimizu: That's right. I've been playing various negative emotions all the time, so I think it must have been hard. The day I frescoed, the frustration would have been amazing. In my case, when I play Yang, I don't get frustrated at all (laughs). Yang can express her emotions as much as she can and vent her frustration, so she feels refreshed after dubbing. I'm recording it neatly, and Hikasa is recording a lot, and I've been curious about it for a long time. I really want to tell her (Yoko Hikasa) that thank you for your hard work.
- In the second half of "RWBY Ice and Snow Empire", what kind of place would you say that Ms. Koshimizu would like to see again?
Koshimizu: First of all, it's the school cafeteria (dining room) battle of the final episode (Chapter 12). In the video I saw during the recording, there was a cut where Yang was fighting with chicken. When I come here, Nora (Valkyrie) will come alive. This battle is very impressive. After that, it's a negative Blake. At the stage of this interview, I still don't know what kind of visuals the negative Blake is appearing, so I'm looking forward to seeing what the video of the scene is like. As a little jealous part, the negative Blake is wearing something that mimics his mask, isn't it? As Koshimizu, who plays Yang, I wanted to support Weiss a little bit. Also, if you say Yang and Blake, the scene where you take your hands and help out is still an important scene, so I want you to see it as many times as you want. What I'm drawing in this work is a story about Weiss, but I'd like you to take a closer look at what kind of expression Ruby and everyone has in the last scene.
- In "RWBY Ice and Snow Empire", a Grimm called Nightmare will appear. It is a Grimm who possesses a person and emphasizes the negative part of that person and creates the world in their dream, but what kind of dream world do you think you will create if Ms. Koshimizu possesses Nightmare?
Koshimizu: I'm not very good at insects in general. So, if there is a nightmare, it will create a world with a lot of insects (laughs). When it comes to such a world, it's horrible and scary, and I really don't like it (laughs).
- "RWBY Ice and Snow Empire" has finally finished broadcasting. What do you expect from Ms. Koshimizu for the future "RWBY" series?
Koshimizu: I don't know what will happen to the original "RWBY" series from now on, so I can't say anything. But...if possible... If it comes true, I hope that the Japanese creators who worked on "RWBY Ice and Snow Empire" and the original creators who worked on the "RWBY" series can make a new work together. I hope there will be one that makes use of the goodness of Japanese creators and the goodness of overseas creators. Thank you for your continued support of the "RWBY" series!
( just fixed some spelling and grammar errors, probably didn’t get them all. oh well *shrugs* if there are any error you wish me to correct pls let me know! :3)

Follow-up to the Accidental Team RWBY Project Discovery/Leak
So for anyone unaware, I made a few discoveries that kinda heavily prove Team RWBY Project is going to be an anime. I saw some confusion about the stuff I found so I might as well clear up some info.
What the hell is a subdomain
I gave a brief explanation of it in my last post but basically, a subdomain is something you add before your regular URL that takes you to a different part. It isn't a separate domain or a new site. More like your homepage vs a link to a specific tweet. Like how Roosterteeth.com leads to... itself but store.Roosterteeth.com takes you to the merch store.
What if they're just doing it for copyright like Nintendo?
This isn't like Nintendo buying fake pokemon or mario game sites like "pokemongray.com to never use them" you will only find a subdomain if it's supposed to be there and is usually intended for use.
More subdomain information
These were the subdomains I mentioned last time:
I did not find these myself. I am not a hacker. I simply found out that Virustotal automatically does it to all sites it scans.
The test.team-rwby site has a login popup meaning unless you have a username and password you cannot get in. This is where they most likely tested the site before making it public on the normal URL. I actually left out a specific detail. There is a fourth subdomain called test.anime.team-rwby-project.com This is likely where they are holding the anime site and information where people like us can't reach it. I didn't share it because I didn't want anyone to spam it. But just it being there is proof.
How is it proof? What if the subdomain is for something else like recaps about [American] RWBY?
Alright, this'll be a doozie here. So stay with me; and take this long-ass list
I mentioned last time from passive DNS replication the Team RWBY site is connected to other various anime/film sites. I mentioned the slime isekai and healer girl but the list is very long and includes a lot of anime and even live-action film. I included a list of every website that touches the same IP. Specifically, I'd like to look at a recent example.
ten-sura.com is the regular site for the slime isekai franchise. But it has a subdomain called movie.ten-sura.com this site is up and active and is to promote the upcoming film. Just based on that I think it's reasonable to assume the Team RWBY site is intended to be a sort of hub for this General-Weiss/future/whatever AU and the anime project is the first major announcement we're getting from it.
Something you'll notice in the list of Url's is that the ones about anime specify it. Like pripri-anime.jp or burn-the-witch-anime.com
It does not seem like they use the word to describe anything else besides anime. So I personally 100% believe this means we are getting an anime set in this AU or whatever.
Why not an OVA?
OVA's are incredibly expensive and blu-ray sales cannot support them alone. The anime industry is heavily pointed towards film and series production so I'm placing my bets on a 12-24 episode anime to fill the time before/after volume 9.
What about the Bandai Namco connection?
For anyone unaware, my last post mentioned that a sizeable amount of the passive DNS replication sites had something to do with Bandai Namco, in most the connection is really strong, Rifle Is Beautiful, My Name is Yours, One Punch Man S2, Eureka Seven, Burn the Witch, New Black Rock Shooter and many many others all have Bandi Namco Arts or another Bandai Namco company attached. I have gone through many of them and besides 1 or 2 anime nobody cares to translate information for it looks like Bandai is involved in almost every film/anime and are be involved in funding/production for each of the sites. You guys are free to check it as well. Anime News Network has a comprehensive wiki on all things behind the scenes for anime.
Goodsmile?
I remember some tweets mentioning GoodSmile retweeted the RWBY announcement. And while we typically associate them with figures. I also found out they really enjoy funding/producing anime. Now some of the anime mentioned in the list are Black Rock Shooter and One Punch Man. You guys can do with that information what you will.
Which studio will animate it?
IDK lol. Someone could go through and figure out every single studio and what they're currently working on but both companies have worked with what feels like every studio. So someone else can handle that. We're probably gonna find out in March anyways.
Where does that leave us?/Conclusion
Well, hype. In a single sentence it's just:
We are getting a RWBY anime based on some sort of new AU they wanna start and build in Japan, also maybe Bandai Namco Arts and GoodSmile are involved in some way.
I'll try and answer any other questions I get in the comments.
#rwby#rwby spoilers#rwby leaks#Shoutout to rwbytwt for losing their minds#Don't spam the links#these discoveries aren't accidents any more but the subdomain one still is

Re: the new chapter.
It was fantastic and I WILL be commenting, I just don't have enough time to dedicate right now (or rather, I have the time management skills of toddler).
Re: miscellaneous
I've now listened to the Camp Camp theme about 40 times because I love the fact that it's technically Jaune singing it.
I was also very guiltily watching rwby amv's like the shameless 2000's fanfic reader I am, and you know what I found? There's like, ONE single Knightfall amv, of unknown quality since I haven't yet seen it. And since you're the Designated Knightfall Person... guess who it falls to to Deliver us from hopelessness.
If you feel like it, that is XD, but I certainly couldn't do it and you are, as I've said, the #1 knightfall content creator.
Hope you're having a nice day:)
Re: the new chapter.
No worries about commenting, I appreciate the ones you've left on previous chapters. Thank you for reading. (: These past few chapters have been pretty hard for me to get through mentally, I mean I've enjoyed writing them but I get the sense they're not very good. At least next chapter might prove interesting. I hope everything is going well for you; if your time management skills are as good as a baby, then make sure you're getting those afternoon naps in. :D
Re: miscellaneous
Have you seen Red vs. Blue? I think I've mentioned to you I was a fan of it and that's how I got into R/WBY, but um. Jaune's voice actor (and writer for seasons 11-13, though he also wrote one episode in season 10 which at the time had me confused when he said he couldn't write romance, because it had the only and most romantic scene for that couple in the show) also voices another character in RVB and it's. Very funny. He has a lot of range, let me put it that way. (I actually really like Miles' voice acting lol).
EDIT: Lol and Cinder's letter X-ish shaped scar even reminded me way back when of Locus' visor, she matches with her boyfriend's voice actor's character in RVB. Incredible.
I like fanvids conceptually but there are very few I actually really like. I generally prefer the ones without lyrics, like instrumental scores. The ones I do like I go back and rewatch frequently though. I really love how fanvids themselves can be so convincing of an idea and string together different scenes, it's argumentative like an essay.
And since you're the Designated Knightfall Person
This is a very high honour, thank you.
guess who it falls to to Deliver us from hopelessness.
I have one plotted out in my head already. :( I would really like to get Skimming Eye done as soon as possible and on time according to my schedule so other stuff I want to do keeps falling to the wayside. The fanvid living in my head is really awesome though. I put together the music already.
The one thing I can't find is a source for downloading R/WBY episodes. I'd prefer to buy them so I actually want to OWN them and load them up in VLC media player etc.
It's such a pain in the arse always going to the website, for that matter I can't make a fanvid without actually having the episodes. I've surched in all of the requisite places.
I guess there are only the DVD versions? Is it blu-ray now? Sucks to be me without a disk drive. This is when I really want to get a desktop again.
and you are, as I've said, the #1 knightfall content creator.
An extremely high honour lol. There are lots of other talented fic authors and people into the pairing, I'm very sure. I'm just doing my thing. I've parked myself here and I'm not moving. I suppose also I really like R/WBY and I'm very much into the show, V8 was my favourite volume etc., so that influences my reading and my output/interest. But trust me I have absolutely no conceited ideas about myself, I know I'm a weirdo.
Thanks for your ask and hope you have a good night. (:

‘Well if RWBY is so popular in Japan how come they stopped dubbing it for half a decade HUH?’
*the dub is covering Volumes 5-7...and Volume 5 started in 2017. 4 years ago.*
So...can’t even get the time period right huh? Not like they released Volumes 1-3 as a set either too...
‘Well, FUNIMATION does simucasts of My Hero Academia!’
Did-did you fucking imply that RWBY is on the same level as MHA? RWBY isn’t even a fraction of it’s popularity IN IT’S OWN COUNTRY. That’s fucking dumb.
‘W-well, RWBY barely has any plays on Nico Nico Douga, which is the Youtube of Japan!’
https://www.alexa.com/topsites/countries/JP
Funny how the ‘Youtube of Japan’ ranks 35th as opposed to the apparently less-used Youtube’s SECOND.
Also, at it’s peak: Nico Nico Douga had 23.7 million users...with Youtube standing at 2 billion and counting. While Nico Nico Douga is dying faster than your justifications.
‘B-b-but Google Trends says RWBY isn’t searched-’
According to Google trends, the height of GoT’s popularity was Season 8. Wanna look me in the eyes and say that?
Thing is- It doesn’t make any sense to dub RWBY and sell Blu-rays if you don’t expect a profit, especially from a company as large as Warner Bros.
You’re just so dependent on RWBY being viewed as shit that any contradiction causes insurmountable cognitive dissoance.
And worse, you HAD an argument prewrapped that was simpler, didn’t need evidence to fuck up and can’t be countered.
*ahem*
‘Popularity and Sales =/= Quality’
But no, your ego was destroyed and you needed to feel right.

So I heard a rumor that you could find Blu-ray/DVD bundles of RWBY at the Dollar Tree - not the Dollar General, where prices can be anything, but the Dollar Tree where everything is a dollar. There were pictures, so I assumed that it was true, but probably only in a few select areas where Wal-mart had gotten too many copies and dumped them.
Well.
In the past two weeks, I've had to go into two different Dollar Trees for various reasons and decided to take a peek at their movies. Lo and behold, between the two stores I found Blu-rays of Volumes 2, 3, and 5, a buck a pop. Also a few Red vs Blue, but I know nothing about that show.
I actually did buy Volume 2, because I prefer having physical copies of media just in case it gets nuked off wherever I was watching it, and the first four volumes are still enjoyable enough that I'll drop a dollar on them. I already own Volume 3 from when I bought it years ago (imo, its the only Volume that I would argue is probably worth more than $1), and I couldn't remember anything that even happened in V5 so that was a good enough sign to chuck it back in the bin.
So, yeah, if you want physical copies of RWBY but don't want to pay more than a candy bar for them, try your local Dollar Tree~
Also a great place to grab large amounts of cheap candy to sneak into theaters but you didn't hear that from me

Looking up the hbomb guy and his rwby video is THREE YEARS OLD but ppl still cite it?? I will admit I have not watched it, and given its length I don’t plan to. Anyone can criticize any show there’s nothing wrong with that. But I hate that ppl are like “well the trailers were cool but the show didn’t live up to it” and it’s like
It’s a character trailer
Yes they did just not in the way ppl thought they should
I’ve never done any video essays before and I have NEVER done any video editing but looking up positive rwby videos and finding a playlist of only 17 videos makes me really sad. Ppl can be objective about the show and not be total assholes about it so I’m not sure if I wanna try a volume by volume fan critique of it or go by character but I want more ppl to talk about how they enjoy the show even with its weaker parts. A show having weaker parts doesn’t mean the whole thing is bad
(Like I learned recently the Naruto anime totally butchered how Sakura actually acts in the manga and I know ppl hate her guts due to the anime so)
people hinging all their expectations on the Red trailer was so dumb because it was only ever a proof of concept tech demo - Monty outright said at RTX2013 that it was "out of character" and a "weapon resumé" that didn't have a lot of story to it, and in a behind the scenes video on the volume 1 blu ray he outlined that he essentially made the Red trailer before getting anyone else on board and there was no story until after that
people based their expectations of a show on something that was never meant to be indicative of the final product and got pissy and held a grudge about it for a decade and when you lay it out like that it makes it seem even more pathetic, right?

My Opinions on RWBY Beyond: The Adventures of Somewhat
Nice to get some closure on the Afterans, like with the Hawker returning (because they weren't eaten by a REAL Jabberwalker) and the Red Prince learning how to lose with grace, as both characters WERE actually pretty tragic if you think about it.
The fact that Ruby's narrating this would imply that Somewhat must've told her about this at some point, which means she'll probably be returning to the Ever After at some point.
The fact that all the character voices are done by Ruby EXCEPT for Somewhat (and Juniper's horse noises) could also hint at the whole "Somewhat told her all of this" interpretation.
I also like how the Red Prince dropped the package with the Tree's leaves, hinting at him deciding against Ascension for now.
After the final episode of RWBY: Beyond Volume 9, I'm going right back to Ice Queendom to finish disk 1 of the Blu-Ray.

#seriously though like #RTX is not profitable anyway - they've admitted to that #and that makes sense because RT is fairly niche internet content #you're not getting a big enough outreach to justify the costs for it #secondly other things to consider are that RWBY is their biggest moneymaker #that will almost certainly be the last thing to go #and remember how they removed RWBY from youtube because they weren't making enough from the ad revenue for it to be worth it? #this year all the rwby content has had to be released through partnerships with crunchyroll and warner bros in the case of the movies #meaning RT aren't seeing all the profits from those #because usually they're making most of their money through first subscriptions and the ad revenue of their own player #which they didn't get this year because the movies are straight to blu ray releases through WB and crunchyroll got 1 year exclusive release #so volume 9 doesn't go on the RT site until 2024 #so while they're making some profit off that it's not the amount they usually would #which is why greenlighting volume 10 is in the hands of crunchyroll because they're making a lot of the money off the show with that now #so cancelling RTX - which is a big profit sink - and likely looking into restructuring how they do community events that doesn't leave them #with a massive loss only makes sense when this year didn't go super well for them #especially as the landscape has changed since they started doing RTX and things have only gotten more expensive #but for real - so many people are so fucking eager to hop to doomsaying at the slightest fucking provocation i'm convinced half of them #want the show cancelled
Preserving @sir-adamus' tags.
Inb4 we start panicking about RTX 2024 being cancelled.
The economy stinks and believe it or not, COVID is still a thing and RTX is hardly the only con to decide to cut their losses.
It's worrisome, yes but I'll believe it's the end of RWBY when I hear it from Kerry himself.

RWBY Volume 6 Crew Commentary Notes!
I just got the Volume 6 Blu Ray and I'm going to be watching the crew's commentary! Kerry was talking with a few others as well as Miles after chapter 1. I wrote what I found interesting or important:
Chapter 1:
They took out the blood at the White Fang Headquarters but had to add it back in later
The train station was the first new set of the season
They used Houdini for crowd shots this season
Showing what's in the bag RWBY got for Yang is planned for next season
On each boba cup lid (from the food in the background of the train station scene) has the RWBY chibi characters
Originally they planned Ilia to wear a kimono. Also a hint to seeing her again!
Kerry's mom wants him (Neptune) to be in the show more
The whole train set is a circle track
The Grimm manticore design was from an artist from the RWBY subreddit! Kerry saw it and he loved it and he contacted her to hire her.
There was an inside joke for the audio team where Dee dies it sounds like the track says "Oh Dee..."
Dee and Dudley barely graduated from their academy
There was originally going to be a closer shot of Salem in the OP but they wanted to keep the mystery about who she was
Chapter 2:
They put in some lines from the house (what Nora says) that were a response to the criticism from Volume 5 about them staying there too long
Nora was originally going to tell Blake everything she needed to know with some whiteboards on the train, but they decided to just show the house where things are explained
The footsteps in the snow were made using nulls in After Effects. They explain the process which is pretty interesting.
Oscar struggling was done in mocap
Lil Miss Malachite is an allusion for Little Miss Muffett (duh) and turns out she is the mother of the Malachite Twins
The Malachite Twins went to live in Vale and be bad guys
Jinn's hair is separated/split more than a normal character's. Same with Summer Rose
Chapter 3:
Salem's story one of the first things ever written for RWBY
They really wanted a character's story to revolve around 'happily ever after' then a few steps after that, so Salem was the perfect character for that
Originally the Lost Fable was chapter 3 and 4, but they combined them into one
The whole episode was mocapped in a single weekend
The crew has a Ruby body pillow prototype that's used during mocap
The Gods are inspired from the Gods of Greek Mythology
They want to show more natural wildlife in RWBY, but due to budget constraints it's hard
The video game Brutal Legend inspired the scene where Salem throws herself into the pool of Grimm
Originally the Gods were closer to human size but were scaled up
The story structure for the episode took inspiration from Harry Potter and Game of Thrones
Originally there was going to be more dialogue from the main cast, but they decided against it
They were originally had Salem look like her current form (well coloring wise), but decided to remove the red veins she has so she looked less spooky
The toy dog one of the children has is a Wizard of Oz reference
Jinn was meant to be an objective outside observer but also a storyteller
The children for one of Oz's reincarnations have silver eyes (confirmed)
Chapter 4:
They were excited to explore Qrow's alcoholism past it just being a joke
Hazel is the most compassionate of the villains
Salem knows how to manipulate people and has different methods for motivations for each of her lieutenants
For example she doesn't have to say that many mean things for Tyrian to take it to heart because he is so loyal
She also knows just how fearful Emerald is of her
Chapter 5:
Neo has begun to evolve her semblance, as shown in the fight
Neo wasn't originally planned to be in this Volume, but was decided when they thought of what they could do better to make Cinder's storyline better and for when Cinder gets to Atlas they thought her having a partner was cool
Brunswick Farm was another idea they had since the very beginning
The Apathy fit so well in this volume because the characters are at a low point
Blake doesn't always get the nuances of relationships and makes a misstep (when Yang and Blake talked and she told Yang she would protect her)
Chapter 6:
The Apathy came from an image of a horrifying scarecrow and they came up with the idea of a grimm that wasn't physically formidable. As well as a planet from the movie Serenity where everyone fell to sleep and died, and a short story about depression and not wanting to do anything
The Apathy work through proximity but if they see you their effect gets even worse. But you can get it jolted out of the apathy for a little while if you are startled
The artist that made the Apathy was the same one that made the Manticore
Maria is colorblind, which was evident in the episode when we learn she couldn't tell Ruby's eye color immediately
Seeing the burning Apathy, Qrow realizes that he almost let everyone get killed and now starts to hate himself (his depression changes)
Chapter 7:
Them having a restriction for how long fights could be (because fights are expensive) led to Miles thinking of a fight that had to last 60 seconds (and Tock)
Maria's weapon and use of dust was inspired from the God of War reboot as well as Marvel's Thor
Maria was originally from Volume 5 but they had to take her out because it was hard to balance out all the storylines
Originally Maria was going to have a cat, and Qrow was supposed to find her in his search for Hunstman
The Arc siblings are all a color of the rainbow, with one set of twins. Saphron is orange.
The toy Adrien is playing with is foreshadowing to the plane and the Leviathan
Chapter 8:
Only Cordovin's guards are so goofy (compared to the rest of Atlas guards), and Cordo is considered a nuisance. This was a job they thought she could do well without bothering anyone
Kerry wanted an old lady fight in the show, so he got one
The Old Lady in the Show was something Monty thought of. The boot is the foot of a giant mech. And the giant mech was originally going to be at the end of V2
Butterflies are normally not out in the winter but this is Remnant ;)
Chapter 9:
Miles likes to think of Tyrian as one of the most insightful villains. He is really good at observing people and knows how to take them apart mentally and physically
This is where they said this is the first time we see Mercury and Emerald being vulnerable to each other (I didn’t include this earlier, sorry!)
They say they’ll never confirm who the Red Haired Woman is, but they said use your brains lol
Looking up at Pyrrha and seeing the airship fly by made Jaune think of the idea to steal one
Chapter 10:
Adrian's crying is not a semblance, that's just comedy
They pitched Jaune's voice down when he says "Roger" so he can sound more serious
Originally there was going to be another episode (episode 14t) where we would see Atlas and Mantle. But they didn't want to end on that because it would require a ton of new assets because of the buildings and the people wearing different clothes
The next season will start with a bang
The Iron Giant was a reference for the mech
Chapter 11:
The mech fight was the most effects-heavy of the fights this season
Blake has always had the scar on her body since the new outfit, but it has been hard to see until her jacket comes off
Yang hitting Adam with her bike was thought of early on in the scripting process
Chapter 12:
A lot of talk about how the animations were made and such
This season had a core fight team that animated all the fights
The way Adam dies is apparently similar to how something in Nier: Automata plays out. Kerry has only played an hour of the game so he did not know that was a thing
But Nier: Automata was actually referenced for the mech fight (the mechanics of how the fight would work) since a robot was involved in the first boss fight.
Shots from the Adam and Yang fight were similar to those from Naurto, but that was also a coincidence
They called the Leviathan Levi in the script because it was easier to type
Chapter 13:
They considered Adrian being a very young baby, but later changed him to be a toddler
Gurren Laggan was another reference used for this part (haven't seen that anime but it was referenced when the mech drills the Leviathan)
They really wanted to make sure we could hear liquid in Qrow's flask
Salem is no longer willing to confine herself to a room, and is going to start being more active by creating her army of minions
