Since in-game art is simply inconsistent I was thinking about how I want my version of iterators designs to look like
And concluded the auricles are missed potential so I decided to make them more prominent, make them stand out
Also, I love all the different robotic designs other artists have come up with but I think I'll go with soft body robotics; at the very least soft (maybe organic) mass over mechanic squeleton, like a soft animatronic or a glove over bones. Both because I just want to emphasize the purposed organism angle and to contrast it with the metallic, clearly mechanical auricles

Apologies if the entries seem kinda random by the way! I’m just writing down what I already have and I was just going with my flow of thoughts to be honest :3

I'm not against fanon but I think "scavengers are ruled by strength and the chieftain gets its title through being the strongest" is a misunderstanding of what we see ingame
The chieftain passage is obtained by getting high enough reputation amongst them, and that reputation is obtained mainly by trade but also by fighting alongside them:
It is obtained by helping them out, by being a helpful ally;
If anything, their community is a meritocracy;
The chieftain we fight as artificer could've probably been the one to open metropolis for all of them, given that they have a citizenship drone, which would mean it effectively contributed this whole city of resources to the community, that gotta be worth at least like, a hundred pearls dude;
Stronger individuals have more capability to contribute more, so an overlap is prone to happen;
But if you're a hindrance to them, you'll lose reputation and no longer be fit of chieftain;
Artificer cannot get the chieftain passage;
The scavengers will never acknowledge her;
Even when defeating their chieftain, they attack artificer regardless; what we see after the ending is not scavengers being subservient, is them being scared, understanding they can't bring her down: you're not king of the lizards for sporting a vulture mask, you're just proving yourself to be too much of a threat
Now, I might just be stating the obvious with all this, but just wanted to put it out here

choices made in anger cannot be undone
rambles under cut
Something I find interesting about the Artificer and their campaign is that they never seemed to have truly intended to become as violent as they did.
During the dream sequence where you see how they lost their pups, they don't immediately resort to mindless killing in retaliation. They run. They just wanted to get to safety with the pup they had left.
With how scavengers are so heavily based around reputation, I imagine that Arti lashing out in vengeance spiraled out of control far quicker than they'd expected. They couldn't live in peace anymore, and with scavengers now deliberately hunting them down, all they had left to do was fight. It stopped being about the pups, and became a mix of self preservation, and blind vengeance.

Being able to see hardened, dead rot cysts on the wall of Silent Construct in Saint's Campaign implies that 5P's rot got so bad that he looked something like this at some point between Rivulet and Saint's campaign
It spread to the outside of his body after totally enveloping his internals

So let me get this straight:
Hollow knight is about the journey of a small creature possessing the corpse of a god's discarded child, and the character arc that unfolds as they realize they're more than the path they were set to take, eventually defeating the corruption instead of merely postponing inevitable destruction.
Rain world is about the journeys and experiences of many small creatures sent by a bunch of gossiping computers, and the efforts to help stop the destruction caused by a corrupted god that unfolds over hundreds of years, all to postpone his inevitable death.
Man, video games are fun!
