I LOVE RANDOMLY GENERATED DROIDS SO MUCH IT IS MORE THAN A HYPERFIXATION AT THIS POINT. I HAVE SO MANY HEADCANONS THAT IT COULD BE CONSIDERED AN AU.
I COULD TELL YOU HOW THE DROIDS WORK. I CAN TELL YOU WHAT MOST OF THE CHARACTERS PERSONALITIES ARE AND WHAT THEY THINK OF EACH OTHER. KEEP IN MIND NONE OF THIS IS DISCUSSED IN CANON AT ALL (UNLESS YOU COUNT THE ONE ROOM IN DROIDS HQ).
I HAVE PLAYED THIS GAME SO MUCH. I NEED MORE FAN CONTENT BUT NO ONE CARES WBOUST GMIS GAME. PLEASE I NEED TO SEE MORE INTERPRETATIONS OF THESE CHARACTERS PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
— rgd brainrot anon (giving myself a tag since i KNOW i'll be back. also sorry if this seems chaotic or weird i struggle to put my thoughts into words. heartbreak emoji)
know nothing about this game but it sounds interesting

So we know there’s a Grand Army of the Republic Broadcast hosted by this lady⬇️ where troopers can and will request songs for each other and here are my thoughts (cloneshipping ahead don’t like don’t engage)

Grand Army of the Republic Broadcast, voice of the Outer Rim, one-stop service for everything from love song dedications to shout-outs, GAR’s go-to source for gossip, troopers’ much-needed morale booster.
Each week a different legion takes over as the temporary hosts. The 104th had Vode An and Force Bless the Republic as the daily opening tracks of their week; the 501st held an event called which curse word sounds funniest coming out of this⬆️ broadcasting droid; in the 41st’s turn, Generals Yoda and Unduli were invited as special guests—the audience loved the Jedi tales they kindly shared so much they petitioned for the duo to start a new broadcast of their own together. Sadly it never happened.
After teaming up with Clone Force 99, Ghost Company spent months trying to get them an opportunity to host purely because they wanted to watch the world burn. Cody violently shut that down and Crosshair was extremely disappointed.
When they were still on Rishi Moon, Fives, randomly decided to tease Echo, teamed up with Cutup to dig out every single love song that had ever existed and started dedicating them to him on the broadcast every day. Echo, for his part, pretended to be annoyed but was actually flustered as fuck for how gay this thing is. Then it stopped for a while when Fives lost his crime mate. Then he started again when they actually started dating. Then there was no one around to be dedicated to anymore. And then there was no one left to request the songs.
The first time Tech heard the name Echo from Rex, it sounded oddly familiar. Eventually he realised that he was that guy whose idiotic boyfriend bombarded the GAR broadcast with all those love song dedications from I Was Born to Love You to Ye Hua Xiang. It was actually a surprise to find how non-idiotic the man himself was. He had noticed those oddly out-of-place songs for that Echo among all the military anthems since the very beginning of the war. Some of them were surprisingly good, so he saved a few into a playlist and would listen to them whenever he’s working on some small inventions that didn’t require much focus.
Some time after Echo joined the bad batch, one day after a particularly gruelling mission, Tech shared that playlist with him. Over time, both of them added a few songs to it—tracks they heard during missions, or ones Echo remembered from the broadcasts Tech had missed. Sometimes, when they sat quietly together reading, they’d let the radio play them in the background.
And then that playlist too was never played again.
#fox shouted out to seventeen to return him his socks once#the radio hissed for so long the audience thought there’s some technical problem#and then#seventeen’s voice#beautiful as wine#said ‘this is why jango doesn’t like you’#star wars#the clone wars#the bad batch#arc trooper fives#arc trooper echo#tbb tech#clonecest#cloneshipping#echofives#domino twins

Half Baked Acolyte Thoughts with Dani:
So I have a theory that we will one day see R2D2 in The Acolyte if we get a continuation. I was sitting at my desk yesterday, half dozing and half baked and my mind was just wandering, thinking of other theories I have when I randomly started dreaming about Osha talking to R2D2 like she did with Pip? That made me instantly sit up wide awake, like, holy forking shirtballs, is it even possible?
So I started digging into Artoo's history as well as rewatching The Acolyte. So please feel free to keep reading if you want to get into the mess that is my brain.
First thing that correlates with my theory is that they started manufacturing R2 units during or prior to 132BBY - which is the year that The Acolyte is set.
(From Wookieepedia)
(From Wookieepedia)
And that got me thinking about Astromechs and how Osha was a meknek. And that made me think about Pip's functionality, which I then went looking for in the pictures we got from the Visual Dictionary preview.
And I started thinking about how similar Pip's functions are to Artoo. Pip needs a Meknek (he's their tool) to do what Artoo can do by himself.
Then I thought about how we're introduced to Osha as a Meknek by fixing a shield generator on a Trade Federation ship. Which then led me to Artoo's first introduction of fixing Padme's shield generator while they were FIGHTING with a Trade Federation ship. Which then lead me down the rabbit hole of remembering that Anakin & R2D2 took out the Trade Federation ship at the end of The Phantom Menace. (The part on top of Artoo's head in the thumbnail looks very much like Pip's droid head unit! Which also made me think of his light functionality in Episode 5 and Artoo's light!)
youtube
youtube
Osha loved Pip and helped created his personality by her interactions with him. R2 droids are most known for their "compassion".
(From Wookieepedia)
He's strangely loyal, just like Pip is loyal to Osha. While fighting Mae, Pip was mindwiped by Mae and Mae takes over his ownership (which she is then mind wiped as well). Artoo has never been mind wiped and has been with multiple owners.
(From Wookieepedia)
(From Wookieepedia)
Then I started rewatching for any potential easter eggs and I found a few in the first 2 episodes. Sorry for the grainy pictures because I had to take a photo of my monitor but here we go. In Episode 1 when we are introduced to Osha she sits up in her bed and there's a photo of what looks like R2D2 or of a general Astromech R2 droid. Then we have Jecki mentioning R2 droids in Episode 2 when Osha helps her with the ship.

Maybe I'm crazy but what a great way to connect The Acolyte with the main storyline, by having Artoo be there from the very beginning. I really hope we get another season, because I for one, would be very excited to see Osha hanging out with Artoo. They would be really good friends. It would be cool if that's what makes him such a good Astromech, because Osha is one too. This would also tie Osha to Padme and then to Anakin by being Artoo's previous owner. I really hope I'm right.

The AU I Got from a Dream About the 501st Getting a Pet Dog (Part 3)
Part 1 & Part 2
Rex thinks that it would be a good idea to train Junior to be able to actually contribute somehow, though not by fighting or anything since that would be too dangerous. Instead, they make Rex Jr one of those little donkey side packs, where she can carry things like medical supplies and help Kix with stuff. They still worry about her getting hurt, so someone suggests they make her some custom armor. Rex knows how to do that, so they all work together on making Rex Jr her own custom set of clone armor. They even paint it and make a special helmet with the Jaig eyes on it (Rex rolls his eyes at that).
During Rex Jr’s first little “battle” (they make sure to only bring her on a low stakes mission first just to see if it’s a good idea at all), something interesting happens. She starts randomly barking and growling at something, and everyone is confused at first until a bunch of droids jump out and ambush them. Rex Jr has already seen the droids attack her friends, so she associates them with danger. Since she is a space-dog with space-dog powers (mostly just regular dog stuff but more) like being able to smell that shit, she was able to tell that the droids were hiding, and she was trying to alert everyone.
They all realize that she is able to do a lot more stuff, and so while they try to keep her not as close to the fighting, she is still given tasks like looking for the injured and survivors, warning them about ambushes and approaching enemies, and probably more things. She is the goodest girl, and extremely helpful on the battlefield at multiple points. They basically start to consider her an honorary trooper.
I think perhaps maybe a Separatist general ends up shooting Rex Jr, and the second they do, everyone is immediately ready to kill, and said general is curb stomped. Rex Jr survives. Nobody messes with the dog.
~~~~~~
There is only one truly plot-important part left, and then the rest of the stuff I post in regards to this AU will likely be things like how some different characters react to Rex Jr's presence, her dynamics with other characters, and other things like that. Part 4 will hopefully make you love her, though, because it made me really get attached to this silly little creature just by writing it.
the character arcs we were promised in TFA:
where we started
Finn: renegade stormtrooper, lightsaber wielder, friend-maker. brave guy who wants to be good in spite of what he was taught.
rey: random scavenger whose life experience actually sets her up well to be good at Jedi stuff. protective of nice droids. defensive of self, but can be friends under the right circumstances.
poe: tortured, basically made responsible for a massacre of civilians after carrying out a mission under Leia's orders. made a friend of a stormtrooper and immediately welcomed him into the fold. killer pilot, deeply respected by his fleet.
what that was leading to
finn: serves as an example and liberator of other stormtroopers. proof that stormtroopers aren't just faceless baddies. show that a random kid can be force sensitive and learn Jedi stuff. get his own lightsaber or inherit Anakin's.
rey: learning to trust people when presented with people and situations where trust is reasonable and necessary. showing that anyone can have the Force, not just the Special Family. her walls built from her difficult upbringing is a foil to Luke's bright eyed naivete, but she still learns to use the force in good ways and reject its darkness.
poe: eventually taking over command from Leia. A fight with Leia over acceptable casualties, possibly over the fact that her son tortured him, something remotely consistent given that Leia got those civilians killed just to get Luke's coordinates and Poe got some of the fleet killed in TLJ for an ACTUAL military reason and YET somehow Leia found the civilian deaths more acceptable. I mean, they didn't talk about it at all, which is the problem. anyway. what it should have been leading to: consistent characterization and complicated disagreements between Poe (de facto boss, as the fleet commander) and Leia (official boss)
what we got
Finn: meets other ex-stormtroopers, but nothing really comes of that. vaguely tries to tell Rey he's force sensitive but nothing really comes of that. randomly appointed co-general in a painfully unearned weird scene. stormtroopers largely remain faceless baddies.
rey: actually she's Palpy's granddaughter which means she can use force lightning and she decided to be a skywalker because everyone loves those guys and she's a girl so she's in love with baaaad boys oh btw she can force heal now. even though that's like a really difficult thing that most can't do and takes a lot of work and would be really cool except we have no idea where she learned or when.
poe: DEMOTED. by leia who is NEVER wrong. re-promoted after learning you're not supposed to let any of your guys die in war. duh, everyone knows that. *sniffle sniffle* idk if i can be the general...that sounds hard... :'( Oh! I know! I'll ask my best friend Finn, who has never suggested he wants to be general, and has not had any kind of arc showing he would be good at it, to be my co-general. Surely this will be good and not look like he's my sugar baby. oh btw I used to smuggle drugs and i am a straightie heteroman.
I have written a fun little Cody/OC meet-cute, by which I mean Cody and a bounty hunter beat each other up in the middle of a marketplace as a prelude to a very weird road trip. This snippet will be expanded on slowly and randomly and eventually posted on AO3, but for now below the cut you can find: murder! mildly homoerotic grappling! desperate rationalizations of cognitive dissonance!
Leaving the Empire should have been harder. It should have felt like the end of all things. Cody could feel the back of his head pulsing whenever he considered it, everything the Kaminoans had told them and everything he knew about the Empire and the Republic and his duty vying for dominance over Cody’s own crazy impulses.
But the Empire wasn’t the Republic. And Cody wasn’t fighting anymore. Not properly. He told himself, when the headache got to be too much, that he was only searching for a way to serve better. To be the clone commander he’d been before – before.
The headache would ease. He would keep moving. He wouldn’t think of his former general.
It would all begin again the next day, but he was Cody. He could survive a headache, after everything else he’d lived through.
He bartered for passage on a dozen different ships of varying levels of legality – traders here, smugglers there, always people who’d never needed to know a clone’s face. With clones being phased out altogether, he managed to convince himself the danger was almost totally past. Nobody would care about a clone on the streets.
But they hadn’t been released from duty yet, and it was a rude awakening when the man Cody tried to sell his holdout blaster to for just a few more credits decided instead to blackmail Cody for all he had.
“I know the Empire would love to have one of their favourite investments back,” the man said, leaning forward into Cody’s space. He was taller than Cody, with a brutal grip on his wrist and breath that smelled of a local vinegar-soaked fish dish. Cody eyed his blaster. He could figure out another way of getting the credits he needed to get to his potential contact. He wasn’t letting go of that blaster again.
“You’ll want to let go of me,” Cody intoned dully. He gave his wrist a half-hearted tug. He hadn’t wanted to draw attention to himself. Not that he had any faith in the Empire caring about their “investment,” not the way this woefully out-of-date local did, but he knew he’d be in for a painful punishment if the Empire got him back. High-ranking deserters brought that out of people.
“I don’t think I –“
Cody rolled his eyes and yanked, pulling the surprised human past him and sending him to the floor with a kick to the knee. He flailed, releasing Cody, and Cody snatched up his blaster and fired a single clean shot at the man’s head. The pawn shop was quiet again.
Cody was used to droids. They didn’t bleed. He’d shot organic beings before – Umbara, for one. He’d fired on Sith. He’d fired on his traitor general.
But the headache was back. Cody remembered he hadn’t eaten. Had he had any water today?
“Shouldn’t have gone after a trained soldier,” he muttered, annoyed at the pang of guilt he felt. The man was an untrained civilian with eyes bigger than his blaster maybe, but he’d been a threat. Cody ended threats.
Threats to the Empire? His brain felt like a traitor. He wasn’t if it was betraying him or the Empire or the Republic, but it was betraying somebody. Cody holstered his blaster and turned away. Someone would come in, soon enough. He needed to leave. Preferably the planet.
Unfortunately, it was some kind of holiday here on this backwater planet, and the civilians were out in droves. Cody ducked his head as he pushed through the crowd. He just had to get back to the ship he’d come in on. The crew may not have liked or trusted him, but they were criminal enough they couldn’t turn him in without risking scrutiny of their own, and they let him work off debts instead of paying in credits he didn’t have. He liked those things in an ally, right now. It was all he had.
Someone caught at his wrist.
“Hey,” said a low, rumbling voice. Cody glanced up into the grey-furred face of a Cathar. “Don’t I know you?”
“No,” Cody said, twisting his hand free of the stranger’s grasp. “Sorry. I’m late.”
“No, no, you owe me twenty credits!” the Cathar said loudly, turning heads.
“You have me confused for someone else,” Cody hissed. Was there another clone out here? Could that be why he’d been recognised?
Focus.
“Believe me, I don’t,” the stranger said. They leaned in closer, whispering into Cody’s ear. “So come with me, Commander Cody, or these fine people will think you’re guilty of much worse than an overdue gambling debt.”
Cody punched the Cathar in the face. The stranger grabbed their nose, swearing in a language Cody didn’t know, and raised their other hand. Cody shoved it away, trying to plant his foot in the stranger’s gut, only for the stranger to seize his ankle and twist. Cody hit the ground before he knew it. He wheezed, but that didn’t stop him from tossing the stranger over him. They both panted for a second.
“You’re good,” the Cathar said.
“You gonna let me go?” Cody gasped, feeling his ribs gingerly. He curled to his side slowly, hoping to get the upper hand in a way that wouldn’t tip the stranger off.
The stranger chuckled breathlessly.
“No.”
They both rolled up onto their knees at the same time. Cody grappled the stranger, who rolled them over until they hit a wall. Space had cleared around them. Most locals were standing far back for safety. Some, to Cody’s dismay, seemed to be recording for the HoloNet.
“Would you just go down already!” said the stranger, digging their fingers into Cody’s hair and trying to slam his head against the wall. Cody bucked his hips, throwing the stranger off.
“Who are you? What do you want?” he snapped, pinning the stranger to the ground. They had a blaster, Cody realised. He was probably lucky the stranger was as prone to hand-to-hand as Cody was. Cody didn’t think about the man he’d already shot today.
“To do my job,” the stranger said. “You’re a wanted man, Commander. I assume you know why.”
“I did my duty,” Cody said. He didn’t know if that was true. Except leaving – that was his duty, most of all. “I’m done with the Empire.”
The Cathar grinned, a cocky, lopsided thing that made Cody want to smack the smug look from their face. “They’re not done with you,” they said. They hooked their leg over Cody and rolled them over one last time, finally drawing their blaster. Cody tried to push it away, but he was too slow; one burst of light later, he was out.
Clone Wars - Rookies
Now that I've got a laptop I can actually type on... time to get back into the rewatch with AN EPISODE THAT WILL PAIN ME.
'The best confidence builder is experience' yeah assuming that you get to have that and don't just get brutally killed on your first assignment. If you get past all of that, then you can get confidence building experience.
Unfortunately, because of the relentless demands of battle, many young clones must join the struggle before their intensive training has been completed.
LIKE COME ON. I'M FERAL. THEY DIDN'T EVEN GET TRAINED FULLY AND WERE SENT OUT ANYWAY. Tragic how that Just Has to Happen, there's no other way we definitely can't recruit people that aren't clones and have volunteered for this. That's impossible, sorry.
*checks time* we're at about 40 seconds now, I'm going to be so normal about this. Sooooo normal.
God though do I love Echo. I LIKE THAT IT'S SO QUIET OUT HERE :D GIVES ME TIME TO CATCH UP ON THE REG MANUALS :D what a nerd. A precious, precious nerd. Who knew that in a few short years they would be running around with a squad full of unadulterated chaos like the batch?
Shout out to Sergeant O'Niner for extreme handsomeness, I just love the greying look, so sue me.
Also Obi-Wan getting after Anakin for not sleeping, this is likely such a long running argument. I seem to remember the ROTS novelization said something about how Anakin didn't sleep for pretty much the entirety of it. BAD HABITS WILL GET YOU IN THE END. One day you're skimping on sleep to find General Grievous and the next you haven't slept in five days and you've murdered the younglings.
I love "Good man, that Cody" how often does Obi-Wan just randomly compliment Cody the instant he hangs up?
Hevy is so unimpressed by the meteor shower, in one last bit of humor before clone boys start dying. O'Niner's death is particularly brutal with the POV shot of three blasters gunning him down, but I hate all of it 😭Wasting absolutely no time cutting the clone numbers in half, including poor, unfortunately named Droidbait. (I can't get over that name, I simply can't. Nothing says awkward like memorializing your comrade Droidbait, who was murdered by droids.)
Also the specific way the droid changes its voice, the grabbing at its neck and apparently physically forcing its voice module into a clone voice. Upsetting to look at! But worth it for 'we do not need an inspection! Everything's fine! :)' Maximum suspicious behavior. And Cody's main reaction is just 'you know what? I need this to not be my problem. Rex is in charge.' I feel like we underestimate the amount of Little Shit Cody can be when he feels like it.
Mid typing of course, Cutup got eaten by an eel. RIP. I do feel like this part is played a little too lightly, they call out Cutup's name and say poor Cutup and all but no one seems all that like, distressed, that he's gone. At the very least that's 25% of their remaining manpower! Show some concern guys!
Moving on though, this lighting is doing Cody's paint job no favors.
I do love how unnerving the droid pretending to be a clone is though. Droid like 'how do clones act? Gestures? They gesture right?' and proceeds to do it in the worst way possible.
Rex is showing off a great dichotomy here, with Anakin and Ahsoka he always comes off as the cool headed one that tries to do things by the book, but when he hauls off and shoots the suspicious 'clone' in the face, Cody is HORRIFIED AND CONFUSED. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT? One squad's voice of reason is another squad's absolute lunatic.
Speaking of characterization notes, I still find it a little odd that Fives has gotten the full party boy characterization of the Echo & Fives set in fanon when he's almost as rigid as Echo here, at least when set against Hevy. He introduces himself to Rex and Cody by his CT number and it's Hevy that fills in their actual names. I feel like he loosens up over the show, but he's definitely more by the book than people give him credit for. The real difference between the two as set up seems to be that Fives is a little more assertive (but kind of quieter) to Echo's soft spoken but chatty personality.
HANDPRINT THOUGH, HANDPRINT HANDPRINT. Literally if I could change one (1) small thing about TBB it's that I would give Echo back their handprint. I hate that they don't have it, it's integral damn it.
Rex breaking back in is still one of my favorite parts. Holding up the severed head up to the camera while Cody just goes THIS IS NEVER GOING TO WORK. Give him some credit, Cody, he knows what he's doing.
"Permission to take point, sir?" "I'm always first, kid."
Every day, Rex is just out here being unspeakably attractive. (And Echo is being unspeakably cute. "I GOT ONE :D")
Rex yet again showing his insane levels by going straight to 'guess we blow the whole place up' as his battle plan. No chill in this man, none at ALL.
Also, the detonator not hooking up with the handset. I can't believe that Hevy gets killed by fucking. Bluetooth issues. Imagine that your life rests on getting two pieces of technology to fucking communicate with each other. And Rex and Cody's immediate reaction is they need to GO BACK AND GET HIM RIGHT NOW, no one wants him to sacrifice himself, that wasn't what he was supposed to do when Rex left him to fix the detonator. I'm sure he gets hella survivors guilt from that. He left the rookie behind, it probably feels like his fault that Hevy is gone. Just pile the problems on him, just do it.
Echo having a tendency to make questionably timed jokes is. Certainly something. Like, Cutup gets eaten by an eel - that's why the regulations say don't go outside! Hevy gets blown up - Hevy always did hate that place! Like. Baby. Do you have to say that NOW? They perhaps have some filter issues.
Triumphant ending! Everyone except these two has died horribly! But they have medals you see!
It's still one of my favorite episodes though. All clones all the time, lots of chances to fawn over my boys, I can never turn that down. Echo my beloved ❤️
Bahryn Festival Day V Challenge
Taking a break between scenes in the next chapter of the Force User Zeb fic.
Anyway here are some headcanons in celebration of @bahrynfestival
-Rex and Kallus are good friends, Kal has a great appreciation to the clone. He gets along with pretty much all the clones. He enjoys camaraderie wherever it happens to bloom, and there's a lot of that with them.
-Once Hera comes to trust Kallus, the two are very quick to become best friends, though it's more reluctant/gun shy from Kallus. Hera sees him and tries to adopt him, as she does with any stray she finds, and ended up with a uno reverse. Kallus very quickly started regularly checking in with her. He used the "if i have to be mindful of how many hours I spend working, so do you, general," card frequently. Their friendship initially began to pick up quickly when Hera sent Kallus out onto base to make good, appropriate use of his spy skill set. Gathering the tea.
-Sometimes Zeb gets stuck in his own head. He'll space out while doing a task for hours, just falling deeper and deeper down the rabbit holes. Kallus catches on to this very early on and keeps coming up with different ways to help pull him out of it. He'll help Zeb with whatever task he's on, he'll become very playful because he knows Zeb will fall into the playfulness like a kit every single time, he'll give Zeb a smooch and Zeb doesn't let him leave until he gets a kiss (human kiss or lasat kiss), Kal will challenge Zeb to a spar and make sure to keep him present and grounded in the fight. He finds new ways of doing this continuously.
-Kallus is one of the few people Chopper doesn't fuck with. Hera laughs about it. No one can tell if Kallus is genuinely unaware of the fact that the droid is a menace or if he's pretending not to know just to fuck with people on base. Almost everyone on base has been mercilessly shocked by the droid at least once.
-Zeb likes to lounge any where he finds comfortable, which is pretty much anywhere. He'll rest or sleep on the most random shit. Ships, buildings, trees, crates, tables, equipment, Kallus so he is unable to move therefore cannot overwork himself and has to sleep.
-kids love Zeb. They will randomly start following him around. Sometimes in groups. One time Zeb was walking through a town and turned back to see 25+ children following him. He has genuinely no idea what to do about this and is very awkward around children. Babies are sometimes scared of him when he's anxious, but once that child becomes mobile, Zeb will be followed by them all.
*drops this one and fucks back off to my writing hole* -Ahsoka was the one who officially recruited Kallus as fulcrum. And no one knew this.
