I LOVEEE it when biologists say "depending on the individual." I love acknowledging variation within a species and the realization even the most instinct driven organisms don't have their natures set in stone. I love when organisms sit between boundaries of our clearly defined categories.
I love you let's piss on biological determinism togather.

✒️ + Beatrice
SOURCE || CLOSED
(( Disclaimer: this is written in accordance to my personal headcanon, in which Beatrice is not a separate entity from Raum. That is not to say I reject fanon or other interpretations ofc, it's just what I've been going by personally uwu ))
Imbuing the demon to his person had been the easy part. Of course, there exists no such thing as a manual on demon handling. Jericho could only rely on what little research of his parents' had not been confiscated by the Rose already in the time of his absence & his own knowledge as a warlock to build his own archive. Acquiring use of Raum's hand, as an example, is not something that happened overnight but, rather, the result of perseverance & meticulous experimentation that often took a toll on him or others. For that reason, he spent several years in self-imposed isolation after his return from Ionia.
Naturally, he is still confined by his humanity. And as a mere man, he is no less prone to sentiment; loneliness being one of many that Raum has had him taste. Albeit preoccupied with his scheming at the time, he was not impervious to it. At first, he had treated the ravens with weariness, having known them to be a herald of the demon's presence. They haunted him; tapping on his window in the middle of the night, watching him from the fence-top on his daily walk around the garden... They were always there.
After a while, their omnipresence forged a sick feel of familiarity.
Now, several years in co-existing with the entity, he has finally begun to grow used to them. He could even be sighted showing affection towards the infamous blackbirds. One of them he has named, even though he cannot be sure it is even the same one he is addressing every time. Still, the bird seems to respond to that name. Maybe the demon has scouted this weakness of his human psyche and is simply capitalizing on it to send him crushing even harder afterwards. Jericho is no fool, and he is an experienced warlock. He knows a patron could never be his friend, or true partner. Theirs is an alliance of interest, and Raum is incapable of producing its own sentiment.
But every now and then he allows himself to give in to that weakness, if only for his own sanity's sake; allows himself to pat down on soft, glistening feathers, share a treat or make one-sided conversation (venting to her). Beatrice is no more than a figment of his imagination; and yet in those times, it is she who gladdens him the most.

Sorry, im going nits with your au, but query! Why didn’t twilight learn to fly until he was 18? If we can’t know who he’s mimicking, can we know if their a character in his games? Or from another au? Really do we know them yet?
I will throw you a bone and tell you that, yes, it is someone from his game! But that is all I can say as I feel that already gives away a big hint to who it is.
For your other question, Twilight didn't learn to fly till he started his adventure! He had to teach himself along the way, because at some point, it was really the only way he was going to survive. Growing up in Ordon Village, where he was the only Hylian, he had no one to teach him the ropes. Some of the adults did their best to help him with branching, and the kids in Ordon loved to see him climb and hop through trees. But that was as far as he could get with no real practice or places to go other than the village.
