The years aren't exact, btw. 2010 stuff started in like 2008, 2015 stuff stretched from around 2012/3 to 2017ish, and 2020 stuff is like 2018 to now.

A new era will be ushered in with the release of the next comic, I'm sure. I wonder who the next Scout will be, if 2015 Scout was Spy. My bets are on Sniper or Demo, but probably Sniper.

I have a particular headcanon for how the faces of living engines and other large machines and vehicles work, that I am dying to write one day... Mayhaps if people are interested in discussing such things?

THE MERCS BUT THEYRE THE CLEANING CREW ON HOARDERS. I DOMT KNOW WHY I THOUGHT OF THIS.

scout: he is gagging. retching behind his mask. giving the camera hard stares while the client is speaking. scout will make anyone feel embarrassed about the state that they live in, and not in a good way. if it wouldn’t catch him a lawsuit, he would shake some of these people by their shoulders. takes a scalding shower after every house. he is a commercial liability in those houses, honestly. but his interviews make the episodes… so funny. you know if scout is in an episode because the ratings on those episodes are solidly tripled and intensively meme’d. and the studio is not losing their viewers. so scout stays on the show.

soldier: a commercial and legal liability except he is interacting directly with the clients. soldier will shake them by their shoulders and tell them to get their life together. but he’s not the therapist. he is a cleaner. single handedly costs the studio the entire lawsuit budget for emotional damages. soldier will absolutely just… physically remove the client from the house and return them when they’re done. they don’t even have to pull soldier aside for the interviews, you can hear the man down the street. viewership is doubled when soldier is in an episode, and react youtubers have a field day with him.

pyro: pyro is all of us in some of those episodes. pyro is only called in by the sheriff’s department or the police department to torch the house to the ground. nobody calls pyro in for anything other than absolute incineration of a condemned property, or incineration of contaminated items. and they’ll let pyro do it with plausible deniability and give them the time to get out of the scene before they feel obligated to take pyro in for their multiple felonies and warrants. but really, they consider that community service. pyro just considers it a good time. sometimes though, that stench is awful.

demo: one of the therapists. he can usually hold it together, but the extreme cases will drive him to drink once filming is done. he is a kind man, understanding and patient, but he also will get in the client’s face and become a very direct man if they start getting aggressive with the rest of the team. the client is not to get in his team’s face. they can feel however they want to, and demo will let them, but they won’t take it out on his team.

heavy: the best therapist saved for the worst cases and he hates it. they only call him in for the most combative clients. able to maintain composure through the most explosive moments, heavy is not a man who is easily intimidated, especially not by hoarders. he will touch your hand and let you know you live in filth, and will immediately point out exactly where this behavior is coming from. react youtubers have a field day with him too, since he seems to be the only person speaking any real sense on the camera.

engineer: head of the cleaning crew. he will call the cops so fast at any escalation, and the southern charm is enough that he can generally manipulate and sway most clients into getting rid of more than they otherwise would. before the client can second guess themselves the dump truck is speeding away, and engineer will continue to work. fast, efficient. will usually just bring a pickup truck, fill the bed of it, and speed it off so that the client simply doesn’t have the chance to try to go back through it. by the time the client starts asking, engineer is already steering their attention elsewhere.

medic: the worst therapist. he will find the most sensible adult and put them in charge. will just physically remove the client from the property, offer them lunch, directly lie to them, hardly actually figure out why they are the way they are, give them a referral to someone else and drop them off to a clean house and speed away. he’s not there to actually help, he’s there as a distraction for the rest of the team to work with the family to clean the home. whatever the repercussions of it, he won’t be there to experience.

sniper: will normally drive the dump truck. he would prefer to not go into the house, but he will if absolutely all hands are needed on deck. he can maintain a straight face, unlike his offensive teammates, but the second he thinks he's out of earshot he is gagging behind his mask. and the mask will never come off, because then it's obvious he's grimacing. he attempts to hold the nuance that these clients are sick, that this is an illness and they are suffering, but holy hell. he can't even begin to imagine what could happen to someone that would turn them to this. doesn't have nearly as much of an issue with demo's drinking after these jobs.

spy: resident lawyer. exhausted and inundated with countless court cases from soldier, every time the team gets called to a house spy has to triple check the paperwork to see if there's any possible way to make the contract more iron-clad than it already is, but somehow soldier always finds a way nullify those attempts. if it were up to spy, soldier would've been fired by now. soldier would've never been hired. but the ratings are too good. so instead spy has to work for every penny he makes. will never show up to a client's house unless it is an emergency, and to spy, there is no emergency dire enough for him to have to show up to the house. you can meet him in his office.

I saw a post going around calling out race control/marshals for not communicating to the drivers (especially Lance) that George was stopped on track + the delay in calling for VSC.

The timing is certainly interesting, I do think race control could have responded a bit quicker but Lance knew about George's accident well before he approached the turn.

Note the screen signals a flashing yellow triangle, which is a double waved yellow, so Lance knew well before making the turn that there was imminent hazard and that the hazard was on track. (I'll be honest, the camera on that Aston belongs on an old Nokia, at first I thought it was a solid white flag lmao) This is also when Lance's engineer started saying "Yellow ahead, yellow ahead" - George was stopped in the section after that screen, so no marshals with yellows out at that point. So it's not accurate to say that Lance was surprised by George's car. Still, no VSC.

Note the side screen which should mirror the marshaling post is still showing a white flag (????) - [I don't think it was flashing or showing a VSC, it looks like a solid white, but I can't tell because the video is too quick and the quality is poor. Also I can't see the VSC message on the steering wheel but feel free to correct me if y'all can make it out.] *EDIT* THE WHITE SCREEN IS NOT A SCREEN AT ALL, THAT WAS MY MISTAKE - It looks to be a sign of some sort

When he found out his team was responsible for his Father's death:

Complex and layered, with pain held just beneath his calm exterior. His response would be grounded in his pragmatism and tendency to compartmentalize intense emotions. And Engineer would likely reason that they were simply " doing their jobs. " This would practically be his first line of defense — creating a distance from the event to avoid breaking down. (maybe he'll just coldly walk out of the room when one of them get on his nerves EVEN at the slightest) The first few weeks were rough. Engineer was barely interacting with his team, but doesn't seem to mind the visitors. (but we all knew this was a facade) Although he might not fully forgive or forget, he'd work to maintain stability within the group, prioritizing their unity over his personal pain. His philosophy seems to reflect a stoic sense of duty, where his loyalty to his team — and his respect for their shared work — would likely outweigh his personal suffering, at least in his outward actions. Everyone was paid to do this job, he can't blame them nor drag them down.

ramble ahead about time, tatinof, 2015 and changing one's life

tatinof is very special and im so happy they did this video to acknowledge that its not cringe at all and that theyre proud of their past selves !! there's sth genuinely healing about that !! ive had a hard time in 2015 and even tho i was 12/13 and just discovered that online fan communities of things i was into were a thing and was nowhere close to the phandom (i joined after BIG), this is the fandom internet that i joined back then. thats why its so poetic that they sing 'the internet is here', because to me this is the time it started to be there for me. it wasnt always kind to me and instagram was not a great platform to start on if your bullies and other ppl from school were also on it, but it was also when for the first time ever i realised that there were not only people who liked what i liked but that those ppl also have created their own culture and community online !! i was not totally alone !! there is a life outside of school !! i would never chose to go back to that time ever like it was horrible (that applies to any time in the past tho, i hate the idea of 'going back in time' with a passion) but im glad that the internet was there for me because no one else really was if im being real with you.

this all is maybe why i find it hard to go back to watch dnps older content and also the stuff from the tatinof era. dan's sarcastic self-hating persona and phils innocent nerd persona are both hitting a bit too close to home and i want to both cry for them and for myself. we knew nothing back then. we were lost and yet did sth we were proud of. yet here we are almost 10 years later and how the fuck did we end up here but oh my god im so proud of us. all it took for me was to watch dan's coming out video. all it took for them was to be embraced and loved by their audience (us). dan also needed a break which is something that at the time it happend was really hard for me but then i found my wonderful lovely phannie discord friends here. we really all got here together and if i ever see any single person say that dnp hate us or dan hates it or that dnp are cringe or that we are cringe etc etc i will block you so hard because what are you even doing bringing up drama when in reality dan and phil and the phandom have developed the most remarkable symbiotic relationship between artist adn fans ever. they are our dads and i honestly just want to say how fucking proud i am of them for how far theyve come and what theyve done since 2015. dan really did the whole mental health and gay thing but then he did the mental health again!! and i think ywgttn and wad need to be given more credit here because idk if you remember pre-wad dan but he wasnt anything like post wad dan. every since wad he seems so happy and genuinely authetic and in peace. (im ignoring dystopia daily here because that was filmed before wad and his dd persona also reminds me too much of 2015 depressed dan than whatever high concept he was going for lol, im just not a dd fan). like wad changed his relationship with us and its warming my entire heart when i see dan smile so much now. he deserves to be happy and proud. and if dan deserved it after going through so much and coming out on top (literally), then i deserve it too. and phil? i love how he's just so confident now. fuck. (literally). he is not the innocent nerd anymore like he actually is fully really himself now and feels comfortable in his body (crop top, phlonde, etc) and openly expressing his sexuality ! even compare this phil to phil from the beginning of the hiatus!! he got so much more confident and relaxed since then!! like fully, really, if he can do it, if he can strip himself of the persona that ppl have attributed to him because of his anxiety, then i can do that too. im so proud of phil. he is an inspiration and the more he's being himself publically with no shame, the more an autistic phannie will feel hopeful for their future. im so proud of both of them.

like its crazy you go through your life thinking you're going nowhere and never making any progress and will never reach your goals but then you stop and look back what you were like 6 months ago and realise how many lives you have lived since then. it always goes back to BIG when dan said this:

this everyone, changed my life. and i will never be able to thank dan enough for it, no matter how much i pay for tour tickets, how often i watch their videos or share my love for them on here. i just want to mention this because its never just 'light entertainment', it means the world to many of us and we have build a wonderful and loving community despite the hardships of the past and pointless discourses of the present. like, we can change shit for ourselves because we see these gay idiots do it who have done soooo fucking much in the last 15 years like they were on radio 1 and on a hollywood billboard and hosted various big big events. and yet, they decided they want to use their time to do things for themselves and their community. they have said many times that they havent made a profit from (parts of) their tours but they do it regardless. they do really love us and i dont think ive ever really felt loved by people who i was in a fandom for like that. its really not as parasocial as it might seem anymore. we got here together and we should be proud of that. i love dnp and i love you phannies so much !! 💕💕💕💕💕

speaking of the bible, another thing i really didn't like about prometheus is that the movie basically states that the engineers wanted to destroy humanity because we crucified jesus. lmao. like...apparently jesus was an engineer? and he was just trying to teach us how to be all loving and peaceful and we killed him and this made the engineers mad. lol. so lame and stupid. really? the engineers are really a bunch of petulant hippies? lmao.

my personal retcon of this is that they decided to destroy humanity for some undisclosed reasons and then they sent jesus as some kind of herald of the coming apocalypse (which the engineers intended to bring). because jesus was an apocalyptic preacher.

we could emphasize jesus' teachings of love and peace and all that but imo this makes the engineers sound lame as fuck. i'm choosing to instead emphasize his apocalypticism. that seems much more in line with what i envision the engineers to be. i can actually get on board with this.
