Go Hug A Tree

I find the disconnect from Mother Nature that our modern-day Western society has to be quite inhumane to be quite frank.  The Earth provides us with all that we need to survive and yet most members in our society spend very little time connecting with her.  Each time that I place my feet on the sand or soil, I feel her presence, her pulse, her heartbeat.  Each time I place my hands on a tree, it tells me its story.  All of us sentient beings are interconnected and yet most of our society does not seem to know or care.

Today, I completed Day 1 of my in-person Shamanic training.  We did the first half of this training outside in a nature park.  As we sat under many trees that hung over us, I could hear their stories and feel their presence.  I felt incline to connect with these trees so I did so during our breaks. I walked over to one of the trees.  I placed my hand firmly on the tree and felt its presence.  I looked up at the tree to take in all of its braches and leaves.  I wanted to listen to its story and take in all that it had to tell me.  I sent Love and Light to the tree and felt this Love and Light being returned to me.  I hugged this tree.  I thanked it for its messages and for all that it does for us.  Trees provide us with the very oxygen that we need to survive so they should be thanked.  I continued this process with several trees throught the park as each tree has its own story.

I find myself drawn to trees as trees are steadfast, deeply rooted, yet tall and soaring towards the sky.  I admire their strength and generosity.  Because they are deeply rooted in the Earth, I feel as if they hold a certain type of wisdom and knowledge that they can share with us if we only listen.

Every time I am out in nature, I find myself in awe of the natural elements around me.  So often, I see how they work in unison with each other.  It often saddens me that we as humans don’t seem to recognize the importance of this connection and unity.  

The next time you see a tree that speaks to you.  Go put your hands on it, thank it, and listen for the wonderful stories it has to tell and knowledge it has to provide.

Today, I renew my connection to Mother Earth, to Gaia. Today I remember out interdependence upon each other for I come from her and she comes from me. Today, I put my forth the energy and vibration of Love, Peace, Joy, and Oneness into Gaia as she does for me. As my feet, hands, and body connect with the sands upon her beaches, I am reconnecting with Gaia herself.
