Asher’s words often tell Babe of how much he loves them.

But his eyes say more.

His gaze is intense, so deep, and when Babe looks into them, they get breathless at what they see. His eyes are big and so expressive like a puppy’s, and the devotion and love that pours out from him makes Babe’s knees weak.

It’s those quiet moments where he doesn’t feel the need to light up the room with his chipper energy that he truly can be himself. And if the mood allows, he takes the opportunity to spend some quiet quality time with his mate. Usually this happens when they cuddle on the couch - Babe’s head resting on his lap, or them sitting on it facing him.

Babe rests his arms around his neck, looking into his eyes in comfortable silence. Their fireplace cracked in the background. His eyes are beautiful - the light from the fire giving them a warm golden hue. They reach one hand to cup his cheek, and he leans into the touch, eyes never leaving theirs. He doesn’t need to say anything. Babe knows how he feels, and his eyes communicate a thousand words within that one moment. His gaze flickers down to their lips, and Babe reciprocates with a soft, slow kiss, taking their time. Asher’s hand rubs up and down Babe’s back, and he leans further into the couch so that they can rest their weight further on him.

They’re so close that they can hear each other’s heartbeat, and Asher melts at the way their heart speeds up and their cheeks turn red when he opens his eyes to look at them after they separate from the kiss. They’re so cute.

It’s these quiet intimate moments that he loves the most.

Babe bakes for large pack events (and just whenever they feel like it) and always has to bat Asher away from eating raw dough - he’ll just linger behind them with his puppy dog eyes (he would cling to their back but I think he’s gotten too close to eating raw cookie dough by just grabbing for it from behind them, so he was banished from the kitchen).

And then he’d shift and annoy them by almost tripping them in the kitchen. Ash would put his paws up onto the countertop, and let’s face it - Babe would attach his leash to the dining table a room over just to keep him out.

He’d shift back eventually - but I still think he’d just sit there watching Babe lovingly, still attached to a table by a leash he really could untie with his human hands at that point.

Ever since Sam admitted to hearing the others getting it on with their mates, you can’t convince me they haven’t accidentally butt-dialed each other before. Especially Sam and Darlin—those two are always too busy feeling each other up to notice they’ve accidentally called someone. They genuinely give Milo & Sweetheart a run for their money.

And god forbid it’s Asher who gets butt-dialed. The man won’t hang up right away—oh no. He’ll just sit there, listening in, every now and then he'll comment on what he's hearing, waiting to see how long it takes for someone to realize what they’ve done. And if he finally hangs up without being noticed? He’s not letting it go. He’ll immediately blow up their phone with the most unhinged, out-of-pocket texts until someone responds.

Babe found Asher waiting for them just outside their office. Excited, they ran towards him and Asher notices, opening his arms with a beaming smile on his face. Babe jumped into his arms, and Asher held onto them tight, burying his face in the crook of their neck while spinning them around. Babe threw their head back laughing, and Asher can’t help but think that it’s the most beautiful sound.

After they spun a few times he gently set them down, arms still around their waist to pull them in a proper hug. He pulled back slightly to pepper kisses all over their face, chuckling when they complained about how it tickled.

Finally calming down, Asher seized the moment to kiss them on the lips, soft and sweet, wordlessly communicating a message of love and affection. Babe melted in his arms, and Asher tightened his hold on them, letting them lean their tired body against his.

“I’m home.” Babe whispered into his ear with a smile.

Asher chuckled and booped them on the nose. “Silly, we’re still outside the office.”

“I know. But your arms feel like coming home.” Babe gave him a shy smile, a faint pink tinting their cheeks.

It’s a rare moment of sincere sappiness from them, and Asher felt his heart speed up at their cuteness.

I feel like once they all met, Sweetheart took Angel and Babe under their wing.

They were both so clearly lost, being so new to the world of magic and feeling out of their depths. And well, we can't have new family feeling scared and confused, can we?

So Sweetheart invited Angel and Babe over for dinner and drinks. They sent Milo out to hang with pack for a night, got to cooking enough food to feed an army, and did their best to make the apartment feel warm and welcoming.

Once food was served, Sweetheart laid out the true purpose of this dinner: "You've got questions about the magical world, you don't know where to start, and you're worried about the questions David and Asher might not be able to, or want to, answer. For example, yes, after a while, there are some things you'll be expected to take on, as the mates of the pack alpha and beta. And no, you can't use magic to get rid of lactose intolerance. "

Angel and Babe blink, look at each other, blink again, then simultaneously turn to Sweetheart and launch into every single question they could think of, because they both starting to feel overwhelmed by everything they could tell they didn't know, and they're so grateful to have the chance to ask their questions in a non-judgmental space.

That night, the Mate's Groupchat is born. Sweetheart is both happy to make them feel welcome and excited to have friends to gossip about the pack with.

Pack Smash Tournament 2!

This is how I imaged them sitting + headcanons below!

Headcanons (Text on image) + details:

- David is on the far right with a drink perched on his armrest. Next to him is Angel, but they’re sitting on the floor with a the plate/bowl of brownies on the couch where they could’ve sat. Occasionally they’d rest against David’s leg or attempt to tickle him while he was playing.

-> Angel threw popcorn at Darlin’ throughout the whole night just because why not. (After the tournament, Darlin ran after Angel and picked them up off the ground as payback, Sweetheart videoed it)

-> In a fit of ‘sore-loser passion’ Angel threatened to put bleach in Babe’s conditioner when Babe got them out of the 1v1v1 with Lovely.

- Lovely sat behind Vincent the whole time, their legs straddling him, and sometimes they’d rest against him and just put all their weight on him if they were tired. They also played with his hair and kissed him on his neck or cheek from time to time too.

-> Using their vamp speed they stole a good handful of brownies from Angel’s collective. When accused, they blamed Vincent, and he was so shocked.

- Darlin’ had their legs over Sam’s thighs the whole time to a) stop him from getting up, and b) so Sam could grab them, and stop them from getting up. But mostly just because it was comfortable.

-> Darlin nudged Lovely with their foot a couple times in friendly affection to get their attention.

-> Darlin was scheming the whole night about stealing Milo’s hat from Asher to expose the new haircut, but whenever they showed the slightest inclination to get up, Sam would hold their legs down and smile at them (he somehow knew their plans).

- Sweetheart and Milo were sorta just all over each other on the beanbag. I don’t think they lasted more than fifteen minutes without changing positions.

-> Milo had to move to the right side of the beanbag because Asher kept on trying to kick him.

-> Sweetheart cloaked at one point because they were so focused on the game. Angel has a photo of the floating controller.

- Babe whispered compliments to Asher throughout the night about small things, mostly about the haircut, but also just little things they noticed - lots of “good job” and “well done” comments with a slight tone that got Ash buffering at moments.

-> Somehow at the end of the tournament Ash ended up in their lap.

-> Babe accidentally kicked Sweetheart during their 1v1. Sweetheart threw a pillow in retaliation.
