Most Representative Personality:
Samurai - A strong-willed sort who doesn't hesitate, sticking to their first decision
Additional Personalities:
Clergy - A deeply gentle soul who offers a hand whenever someone is in need
Artisan - One with a passionate focus on a particular character, item, or action
Hidden Personality:
Runner - An active type who can achieve goals quickly and places importance on results.
Most Distant Personality:
Philosopher - A perfectionist who always stops at a decision to consider it until satisfied
You always receive 1 main, 2 sub, 1 hidden, and 1 distant personality. These are chosen from different catagories with a total of :
Daring - 5 different personalities
Judgement - 4 different personalities
Methods - 5 different personalities
Morals - 5 different personalities
Passion - 4 different personalities
A fun mechanic of this game is that it shows what percentage of players have also made that same decision.
@spyro3
There's a new game called refind self. Essentially it shows your personality based on the choices you make (lowkey the ending made me sob). But they ask you to play through it three times too get an accurate feel for who you are.
My personality is said to be one who is strong willed, gentle, and passionate. I don't have a strong sense of self or of what i even enjoy. Yet it says I'm this.
The person I am said to be is created from the choices I make.
It's so poetic.
It says every little thing i do creates me every day. That each day I'm different and yet also repeat choices I've made over and over.
I am the cumulative sum of the choices I've made in my life. And just maybe it'll help me find myself again

NaNoRenO 2025 Post-Mortem Blog
Hello everyone! Now that NaNoRenO has officially ended, I figured it'd be the best time to write up a little post mortem about all the work that went into my entry: Madame Ro's Curiosity Quiz!
Inspirations and Ideas
It should come as no surprise that one of the main inspirations for my personality-quiz game is the other main personality-quiz game, Refind Self: The Personality Test Game. The way the game is presented, and how it tracks your stats to give your final results was super fascinating, and I even got direct inspiration for what possible stats I could track for Madame Ro from it.
I also wouldn't have had the idea to make this game for NaNoRenO if it wasn't for Stella creating her Make Visual Novel Quizes Kit, which was a huge help in figuring out the backend and debugging a lot of issues early on.
As for Madame Ro herself, her design overall was the result of a random idea of a "mysterious entity who wants to quiz the player". I decided to take this idea and try making up a concept, and thus Madame Ro was born!
Tumblr media
My original mockup sketch before I started NaNoRenO.
The final big inspiration, and the reason for one particular question in the game, is actually Ekkoberry's past few O2A2 games, Hollow Victory and Holonomy! I got really inspired seeing them use the pydraw functions available in Ren'Py for their games, and I decided to start playing around with them. After some noodling to see how it works, I then thought "how hard would it be to randomly generate a shape?", which then spiralled into the thought of "what if I made a Rorschach Test in Ren'Py?"
The Process of Making Madame Ro
Madame Ro is the first game where I made the entire outline and rough script in Obsidian! I've slowly been getting more use out of this program and I'll definitely be using it more in the future!
As I was working on the initial outline, I did some design brainstorming for Ro herself and the setting the game will take place in.
Tumblr media
My original brainstorming canvas for Ro's design
The rough script and rough sketches overall took me about 5 days, which was faster than I'm used to, with the thing that took the longest being thinking up the questions. I didn't want all of them to be too similar to what you'd see in other personality quizes ‒ or just be outright copies of them ‒ so I spent a long time thinking them through carefully.
Madame Ro's personality really started to shine through when I started to think up the demon-aligned questions, and it helped me solidify the direction I wanted to go in with the overall "plot" of the game.
When I was thinking up the stats and results I suddenly had the idea to make the images for the results screens my OCs! It was a super self indulgent idea, and it made that part of the process extra fun.
Some of you may have recognized a certain someone from the Daring result (and you can check out her game here:)
As for everyone else, not all of them will have games made for their stories. It'd be nice to, but for now this quaint little cameo in this project is where the most of the attention they'll be getting comes from.
Madame Ro was also the first time I used music and sound effects from Itchio! I'd been neglecting to use the vast amount of resources available on the website, and made it a point to try and use at least a few things for this game. Because of that I found music and sounds that fit really well with the overall vibe of the game, and I'll definitely be using more things from Itchio in future projects!
How I Made the Rorschach Test
Now let me ramble for a bit about the other main feature of Madame Ro: the Rorschach Test.
As I mentioned earlier, I was inspired by how Ekkoberry used the pydraw tools to add in new "assets" for their O2A2 entries without going against the rules of the jam (for reference, the acronym stands for One Of Any Asset). The way they used it for the second game especially caught my eye, and I immediately wanted to noodle with it.
I have a sandbox project in Ren'Py that I use to practice ideas I might want to use in a future project (something I highly recommend everyone do tbh), and in there I was able to learn exactly how this feature worked and just how far I could push it.
Tumblr media
Screenshot from my sandbox game, showing the testing grounds for what would become the Madame Ro Rorschach test.
When I took this into Madame Ro I wasn't really happy with how it looked, and I didn't know why. It wasn't until a sudden brainwave when I realized that it wasn't a symetrical image, and decided to tweak the output a bit so that I could make it more like I envisioned.
The result is as you see in the final game, the Rorschach test which the player will always get as the fourth question.
Tumblr media
The "apron" that one of my playtesters Glueblade got on their first playthrough.
I'm super happy with how it turned out, and I'm honestly excited to figure out more ways I can play around with the pydraw tools in future games.
Final Thoughts
This was the first NaNoRenO game I completely finished for the jam (my other attemps being in 2017, the sketch demo of what became Battle Live, and my 2024 NaNoRenO game which got cannibalised by the school version of Locked Room on Rails because they were in dev at the same time haha).
I'm really really happy that I finally managed to get one game out for a NaNoRenO, and this makes me confident I can make even more games not just for it, but for other jams as well!
Along with that, my workflow this month was super good! I used a lot of the new project management skills I've learned to really keep myself organized and on schedule, and because of that I even released the game a whole week earlier than expected!
Whether I join NaNoRenO 2026 remains to be seen, but if I do I look forward to what sort of game I'll end up making.
Thank you to everyone who's checked out and shared Madame Ro so far, and I'll see you in the next game!
See ya~!

Game thoughts post, those don't happen a lot, lately!
Tumblr media
Refind Self is a big fat liar tbh? It presents itself as, obviously, a personality test type game... And I'm not entirely certain it's effective at that, given the fact that it has an actual story it's trying to tell over three playthroughs.
Does it have personality values and an in-depth description of them? Yes. Does it show you a reasonably comprehensive result of your test after you're done? Yes. Does it roughly make sense what actions add to which attributes? Mmmm- nnnnooooo. Specifically because there are random and unskippable events that make your personality go one way if you engage with the game at all. You know. The thing you're here to do. Like I'm here to play the game, why is this tied to a forced section that really really weighs one of the personality types way too hard? That's fuckin' stupid.
Lots of secrets. That's pretty neat. But you're also only allowed three playthroughs to explore the entire world and find them before they're meaningless. You can still play, after, but????? Like we can neither influence the outcome of the story nor get an effective personality test with that in mind.
Also possibly there is a mild language barrier problem, which is admittedly attached to post-game content primarily, but it's good to note.
Anyway scientist/robot yuri, 10/10.

Refind Self: The Personality Test Game for Switch launches October 3 - Gematsu
Tumblr media
The Switch version of exploration-based adventure game Refind Self: The Personality Test Game will launch on October 3, publisher PLAYISM and developer Lizardry announced.
Refind Self: The Personality Test Game first launched for PC via Steam, iOS, and Android on November 14, 2023.
Here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page:
About
All players approach games in varied ways, making different choices. No one ever plays in exactly the same way. Indeed, how a person plays can be an indicator of their personality… And Refind Self is a game where you can learn all about that personality.
Story
You are an android. The story begins with you standing at the grave of the Doctor who created you. The world is populated by robots in various forms, created for numerous purposes. Travel to places key to your memories of the Doctor, interact with the robots, and unravel the secrets behind the future the Doctor sought and what you were entrusted with.
Important Characters
Protagonist – The player, a robot created by the Doctor as an EAI: an AI that can take action based on emotions.
Dull – A robot clerk at the café. Always lazy due to misconfiguration by the Doctor.
GoGo Scrap – A robot that collects scraps. Sociable and boylike.
Inori – A shepherd robot created to carry out orders.
How to Play
Go wherever you feel like, converse, investigate, play minigames… Simply play as you please. There are no game overs, and there’s no right or wrong way to progress. With each action you take, your personality will be analyzed. Once analysis is 100% complete… Congratulations, you’ve beaten the game! Your personality results will then be revealed. If you want to know more about your personality, you can go back to play again and again. Of course, this also goes for those who want to know the truth of the story.
Personality Comparison and Sharing
Your test results are stored in an online database, and you’ll be issued a unique results ID. You can share your results ID, and view others’ results to compare them with your own. Perhaps similar personalities mean good compatibility? That’s another way of having fun with your results. *Test result data does not include any personal identifiable information.
Examples of Possible Personalities
Adventurer (Passion) – One dedicated to going where none have gone, and doing what may be impossible.
Leader (Morals) – A proactive and responsible sort, who keeps promises and fulfills duties.
Planner (Methods) – A meticulous sort who does anything they can to prepare and increase odds of success.
Sage (Daring) – One who always prepares for possible crises; better to reliably avoid loss than to chance gain.
Samurai (Judgment) – A strong-willed sort who doesn’t hesitate, sticking to their first decision

Onto more positive stuff...I got back into wuwa and am working very hard to catch up. I don't think the rewards are bad, I just took a break, so now my pull progress has been reset back to 0, and I'm having a tough time. Plus I don't know who I should pull for. I'll get there, I'm sure.
Excited to play some new upcoming games! I'll be trying out new gachas and one not-gacha just to see if I like them. Here's a list if you're curious.
Ananta: Urban Open World Gacha. Everyone seems hyped about this one, but I'll admit I'm not sold solely because the character designs don't speak to me. I'll try it simply because a lot of the CCs I follow have hyped it up and because the gameplay does genuinely look good.
Neverness to Everness: Basically the same as above, which is why I've seen people say they'll skip it for Ananta. But actually, I like the art style and character design for this game more. Just a personal preference.
Etheria Restart: A turn based gacha like HSR. I LOVE the character designs so far. There's a dark skinned character who's supposed to be meta right off the bat too. He ashy af but he hot so I'll let it slide. The women are sexy too and THERE'S SOME THAT WEAR PANTS.
Blue Protocol Star Resonance: This is an MMO, actually, and I'm looking forward to trying it just to see if I can get some friends to play with me. Might quit early on cause I don't care for overly grindy games but I'll give it a go.
Azur Promilia: Fantasy Open World Gacha. Idk if it's related to Azur Lane, which I've never played, but it looks cute and you can collect pets. Look at this fucker.
Tumblr media
Silver Palace: Open World Gacha but make it Victorian and noir at the same time. I love a good detective story and the aesthetic speaks to me. Gameplay is solid too by the look of it.
Arknights Endfield: The open world experience looks really cool with base/factory building. The music is also probably the best out of all the other games on this list. I actually am super excited to try this one so I'm hoping that it won't let me down.
Project Bang Bang: Italian gooner gacha. Or a dating sim, maybe both. Apparently, it's just labeled as a women-targeted game. Anyway you're a badass mafia boss surrounded by hot men and also you fight people. Looks really good art-wise. Probably a Love & Deepspace competitor. It's 18+ too so Spicy. (I could probably jerk off to the trailer alone)
That's a lot of new games to look forward to. I'm looking forward to hearing about some games that look pretty interesting to me too:
Star Garden - A single to multiplayer game where you can explore, collect creatures and race. It was inspired by Kirby air ride and the chao garden feature from Sonic I really loved both of these games when I was younger though they were owned by my cousin so I never had the games myself. The style might not be everyone's cup of tea and it looks dated compared to games currently released but if it's fun and actually works without a horrific frame rate that's really all that matters.
and
Grave Seasons - Narrative farming sim where there's a supernatural serial killer and you try to figure out who it is. You can do most of what's typical in farm sims like growing your own stuff, befriending people, romancing a townsfolk but you could romance the serial killer too and like you wouldn't know it because the killer is randomized every play through. Everything you do matters in this game I want to see how it goes because it takes my love for farm sims, horror, mystery and smashes them together.
There's a few more but those have already been released or are at least on early access: Echoes of the Plum Grove, Fields of Mistria, Refind Self: The Personality Test Game, and Rusty's Retirement. It's mostly just a list to go see a little of the gameplay of others to see if I'd truly enjoy them and want to buy them. There's more but the rest of that list are more old games I'd like to play one day if I get the chance.
