🌟💼🤝🌿🌱Accountability, integrity, and intentionality hold immense value. Emotional and spiritual intelligence are also of great importance. In a world that often prioritizes wealth as a measure of worth, it's crucial to remember that true value comes from being spiritually fulfilled, not financially rich. Reflect on a time when you prioritized integrity and spiritual fulfillment over financial gain. How did it impact your sense of self-worth and fulfillment?🔄💰🚫💔

🚀📘 Monday Musings: Quick Cause & Effect Tips! 📘🚀
Happy Monday, fabulous families! Let's kickstart the week with some brainpower! 🧠💥
Dive into cause & effect with these easy steps:
🎯Question Time: Learn together with your child by asking "Why?" and "What happened next?" more often. This helps trace the sequence from cause to effect!
🎯Story Detective: While reading or telling stories, pause and discuss what led to key events.
🎯Real-Life Connections: Connect everyday situations to their outcomes. Why did that glass break? What happens after we water plants? 🎯 Experiment Fun: Simple home experiments can show cause and effect in action- like what happens when you mix baking soda and vinegar. 🎯 Reflect journal: Encourage writing or drawing about daily events and their causes/effects.
Let's light up this week with curiosity and fun! Here’s to a week of discovery and learning! 🌟

A Day Without Laughter is a Day Wasted
Laughter is more than a momentary release of joy: it’s a quiet rebellion against the weight of life. In a world that often feels burdened by deadlines, losses, and unrelenting noise, laughter is the pause that reminds us we are alive.
To go a whole day without laughter is not merely to miss a joke or a funny video. It’s to miss connection: with others, and with yourself. Laughter is a mirror; it reflects what delights us, what surprises us, and what reminds us not to take ourselves too seriously. When you laugh, you return, briefly, to something pure and present.
Some might see laughter as trivial, but its absence can tell you everything about the emotional weather within. A joyless day may still be productive, but was it lived? Did you feel something genuine, even for a second? If not, what was all the effort for?
Laughter doesnt require perfect circumstances. Often, it shows up in the midst of chaos: a joke in a hospital room, a grin shared in traffic, a silly memory in a moment of grief. These aren’t escapes; they’re reminders that we are human, and that even the hard parts of life can be softened with perspective.
So, when we say that a day without laughter is a day wasted, we’re not romanticizing happiness. We’re advocating for presence. We’re saying: Don’t let a day go by without finding at least one moment that lifts you, lightens you, and connects you to something joyful.
Because that moment, that laugh, might be the most honest thing about your day.

Week 9 Racer Game Post Mortem
For this project, I've added some more functions to the game. The player can now move up and down, and the turn speed is slightly faster making the player more agile
What went well: -Adding vertical movement (up/down) made dodging obstacles more flexible and fun.
-Improving turn speed made the controls feel smoother and responsive.
What Didn't go well:
-Collisions with traffic is too big making it difficult to move through tight spaces between traffic.
Future improvements/additions:
-powerups.
-fix collisions.

Reflective Journaling Extra
For the Reflective Journaling Assignment I actually went over by 23 words and had to cut it down. I hope that it doesn’t make less of an impact because of it, or less sense by that same way.

📑Reflective Journal 4 : Dealing with the Challenges of Adolescence Stage

“Life is about accepting the challenges along the way, choosing to keep moving forward, and savoring the journey.”― Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart
I learned a lot from the discussion. We can all relate to some of the discussions regarding our current situation. We've faced a lot of challenges, because adolescence can be difficult, and we teenage years can be an emotional assault course for all concerned. During adolescence, the gulf can grow between parents and us their children. One of the reasons many of us find it so difficult is that it is a time of rapid physical development and profound emotional change.
In addition, We teenagers had a responsibility as a student and as children at home so living life would never be easy, but it's not impossible to get the life we want, and for me I also had a lot of responsibilities, but my parents and the people's expectations and concepts about me are what motivates me. It's really hard to try it all. And having someone I can open up with really helps me to lift my self up and avoid downfall, especially anxiety and depression. Someone who can help us be physically, emotionally and mentally prepared for the challenges that we face in our lives. It may be the family, a peer, a teacher, or someone who understands us. Sharing can make your problem turn into halves.

Cleafe Mae's Reflective Journal
Personal Development
Day 3: Entering the phase of adolescence
As we wrap up the class, there's this quote of Nathaniel Branden that caught my attention and it is quoted as "The first step towards change is awareness. The second step is acceptance." Indeed we can never take one step forward and change ourselves for the better if we are not aware of our self-identity. How can we face the viciousness of the world if we will continue living in the shadows unaware of identity, though knowing one's identity may take time. Hence, whatever the result may be, we should learn how to accept it wholeheartedly. We should learn how to accept ourselves for who we are and not for who we wanted ourselves to be.
And if we put the quote in the sense of adolescence, the first step towards changes lies on us, it lies upon us by acknowledging our self-awareness, awareness of the changes happening on us physically, emotionally, spiritually, mentally. Thus, to accept the reality that as we age we will always encounter changes and we will always have downfalls in life but what's important is we will embrace it and keep our heads up. Consequently, I am also enlightened as to why adolescence compare. We cannot deny the fact that there will always be times where we compare ourselves to others and we are peer pressured and lying in a state of confusion. Hence, the factors why we usually compare ourselves is mainly because of our Physical Changes, Cognitive Changes, and Socio-emotional Changes. And we need to overcome these factors, we need to learn how to love ourselves and accept who we are. Because we need to love ourselves first to be loved.
All through out the three lessons that we had tackled today I can say that I've learned a lot. I became more aware of myself and also more aware about the things being affected by the adolescence period we all faced and is currently facing. I was enlightened and realized that all of the things I've experienced and changes in me were normal. Every teen goes through it and it is up to us how we handle thise things. May be it be in a positive or in a negative way.

Communication Design Studies Course Reflection
For me, participating in class activities and discussions was a great way to get introduced to the concept of communication design. The play doh activity especially provided me with a valuable insight on how symbols and imagery can be designed in a way that conveyed information efficiently and accurately through a shared understanding. Furthermore, having class discussions about good and bad book covers helped me determine what design elements and principles were needed to exist to create a good design.
Learning about scripts, designers and design movements throughout the course has allowed me to gain a vital understanding of the influences it has had in current design practices as well as in my own design practice.
The transition from face-to-face to online was quite smooth for me as I didn't have any problems accessing resources and attending classes but I did find it hard to have in depth conversations with tutors and classmates as I didn’t have access to a microphone. I also found out that I got easily distracted and too relaxed so I had to create a strict time management plan to follow and complete my assignments on time.

Communication Design studies (GRAP2199) course
This class was full of joy. I would like to say it was my favourite class.
It pushed me to keep exploring design history and create pieces.
Although we studied online due to the COVID-19, It could not interfere with our study. I was thankful that I could learn something in this chaos. I met a lovely teacher and classmates, who gave a lot of impression and warmth for each other.
The key learning outcome of this study is a passionate attitude for creation. I can say it is the same as “Gesamtkunstwerk.” We saw “Everything will be ok” balloon in every lecture. Everything can be done in this course. Apart from the formal design, we made fresh and experimental images. In the process, we learned how to give and reflect feedback, and learn from others.
This reflective journal was the place where I could pour my passion week by week. Hopefully, It will last until graduation.
Future demands a whole designer. That means us.
I will keep learning, creating, enjoying this journey.
Shayna, Andy, and Karen thank you for teaching me!
And my lovely classmates, all the best!
Warm wishes,
Sojung

Week 8 Racer Game Development Post
This week, i focused on completing the core gameplay for my racing game. The game is a top-down endless racer where the player controls a car to avoid randomly spawning traffic obstacles while driving down a highway. What I implemented:
-Basic Car movement with top-down controls.
-An endless scrolling highway.
-Randomly spawning traffic cars that the player must dodge.
-Player death when colliding with a traffic car.
-Score system that increases as the player survives longer.
Next Steps
-potentially add powerups
-Implement high score saving between runs

Final Reflections
As the semester concludes, looking back on ‘Communication design studies’ as a whole, my understanding of design history and ultimately, who I am as a designer has developed significantly. Additionally, the course has led me to become more confident in discussing and presenting my work which is something I have always found quite daunting. I found that my work ethic and self sufficiency improved simultaneously as I was eager to seek feedback from both my teacher and peers each week and therefore I ensured that I had made significant progress from week to week.
One of the key moments from the semester was the completion of the ‘Positionality portrait’ assignment. Going into this assignment I felt intimidated by its vulnerability. I had never really thought about personal identity too much as I have lived a pretty typical life. Beginning my research I found that I had so many unanswered questions about my identity. Initially, I found the prospect of not having myself completely figured out to be scary, however, by the end of the assignment I felt like I had learnt a lot about myself. I came to the realisation that who you are as an individual is a dynamic thing, so naturally at times you won’t feel completely sure of yourself, and that's okay.
As someone who has never taken much interest in history, I was surprised to find that I really enjoyed the weekly lecture discussions. One thing that I found really influenced my attitudes about communication design history was from the week 6 lecture. The video linked titled ‘Is Soviet Constructivism Bourgeoisie?’ led me to question the accuracy of what we know of design history. The way in which the public perceives a design movement is often overlooked in design history. What we know of the impact of design movements is often recounted from the perspectives of designers and art lovers, meaning that this information is often biased. This video taught me the importance of providing a representative sample, and looking into the general public as a whole.

📝Reflective Journal 1 : Getting To Know One’s Self

Getting to know one’s self starts with a self-concept that each one of us sets our own perception, how we define and understand our self. but not all the concept about our self is the actual, some are the opposite. Our actual self is what we are and who we are that we seen right now. But if you know yourself, you’re going to understand that life is really easy and that you are able to control your destiny. Knowing who you are is always more important than knowing what you are. Some people will never get it; their egos won’t let them down.
In addition, You have to be able to see yourself objectively, to know yourself. The “you” that knows you cannot be the same as the “self” that you know. If you know yourself, you know what makes you similar and unique to the other billion people living on this planet. We also have the theory of self-discrepancy, which means the mismatch between your ideal self and the actual self. Having a mismatch is causing us distress. It’s because our actual self has not met the concept of our ideal self. We’ve set our standards and expectations, but once it doesn’t meet it brings discomfort to us so we should be aware. To be aware we should be unbiased and non-judgmental and think differently.
