Stress has been said to be linked to fertility and with the rising metropolitan lifestyle, many couples are facing the problem of conceiving and going for a planned pregnancy. Today Fashion and The City is going to tell you all about how stress affects your fertility and how you can reduce stress with some simple steps.

Our body releases cortisol secreted by the adrenal glands that help regulate blood pressure, sugar levels, and metabolism. All the side-effects of stress can be combatted with the secretion of cortisol, but over time with increasing stress that leads to burn-out and fatigue, the production of cortisol decreases. This affects our health.
Progesterone is responsible for the tropism of the uterine lining, this creates favourable conditions for the successful implantation of a fertilized egg, and supports the embryo’s development.The corpus luteum produces progesterone after ovulation. After fertilization, the corpus luteum is also responsible for the production of progesterone, and then after 7 days, this role is taken over by the placenta, which produces progesterone before childbirth. If progesterone levels are insufficient during the luteal phase (14 days after ovulation), then even if fertilization has occurred, the embryo will not develop.
Production of cortisol to combat short-term or long-term stress causes a decrease in the production of progesterone in the body. Extreme stress leads to the production of prolactin which again negatively affects the fertility. Identifying stress-causing factors and dealing with them are solutions for creating proper hormonal balance in the body necessary for improving fertilization.
Simple steps to boost fertility in women:
- Studies have shown that yoga help boost fertility. Hatha yoga is a form of relaxation that helps women conceive by doing some relaxationexercises, by increasing blood flow to the pelvic area. Deep breathing helps to reduce stress too.
- Cardio helps to increase the blood flow in the body. Exercises like swimming, cycling, and jogging and dancing helps increase blood circulation.
- Mindful breathing practices helps you find your Stress free zone with each passing breath. It helps you focus on your body and become one with your emotions again.
