Hi there! So in private messages my friend tends to send me like 10 posts at once, and right now there is no option to reply to those messages individually. For example in messenger etc if you swipe right (or right click) you can immediately reply to that specific post/message. I was wondering if you guys had any plans on incorporating that or if you'd be willing to. Thanks in advance! 😘

Unfortunately, we don’t have any plans on adding that kind of functionality to direct messaging.

But’s it not all bad news—far from it. It sounds like what you’re doing could be much better served by Communities! Sharing posts with friends in a space where you can all comment on them is one of the reasons we’re building it, and we think it would suit you down to the ground. Like a glove, even.

One thing that I hate intensely about the dominant culture nowadays is how common it is for people to place strong social expectations on people to respond to messages (text, email, DM's, etc.) in a particular time-frame. Like there's this idea that if you respond too fast, you are creepy, desperate, or annoying, but if you respond too slowly you are uninterested, unreliable, disrespectful, etc. And being too fast and/or too slow can be seen as a sign of being socially awkward (read: neurodivergent and any negative stereotypes that come with it) or just not having your life together (like too slow means you are drowning and not on top of life, too fast means you have no friends or no life, etc.)

To me this whole pressure seems ridiculous.

Like it seems totally normal to me that sometimes you will happen to stumble on a message the moment it was sent, and have free time and motivation to respond right there, so an immediate reply is most natural. And other times you are busy and the message reaches you at an inopportune time, and maybe you also lose track of it and forget to reply for a really long time. And of course sometimes you're somewhere in between these two extremes. All scenarios are natural and fine.

And which of these scenarios happens is more dependent on random circumstances than on the importance of the matter in the message and how you feel about the person sending it.

I think life would be so much better if we just stopped assigning meaning to the rates at which people reply to specific messages. Allow people to sometimes reply instantly, or other times take a really long time to reply, without judgment. If it's really important, double or triple text. I won't judge.

And please, reach out to me how and whenever it feels natural to do so. Don't artificially delay or pressure yourself to hurry a reply in a way that doesn't feel natural. Human communication is meant to be varied in frequency and pace. We can have rich and healthy relationships without having all these unnecessary norms about this stuff. The norms aren't serving us. Let them go.

Wow your boss sucks. Is that even legal? Like, aren't your responsibilities/opportunities listed when you're hired and limited by that? I know it's probably a "how it should be" vs "how it really is" but I just want your boss to bite dust with this behaviour

"Is that even legal" *channels the limited law classes Ive had* They are listed yes! But there is also a very convenient little sentence at the end of that list, which goes like "this list isn’t exhaustive" :) "it may evolve based on the company's needs and on the improvement of [name]'s skills" :) Indeed it is "what the law says" vs "what you'll be willing to put up with to keep the job".

I don't want her to bite the dust, in perspective this isnt so bad, but it's being backed into a corner that irks me/rubs me the wrong way. Also pretending everything was fine for three months and suddenly this??

It's also kinda funny that they (the whole company) dare to pull that shit when I know, and they know, that they're having a hard time recruiting. Hell, they know I'm reliable/do the job well, and according to my coworkers, that's not something that's easy to come by here, even if it sounds like the bare minimum.

I will make a post for this once I have the proper time. But it really boils down to what each franchise proposes itself to do. Digimon as creatures are sometimes beings that exist influenced by human culture, other times they are literally how we perceive paranormal entities. A great game on both subjects is Digimon Survive, because it tackles the series from a very different view point. It doesn't have the need, nor it tries to be 100% accurate to the source material. It's just a take on it.

SMT in other hand, tries to convince us it is actually accurate to the source material, because the people involved in it really wanted it to be. And while in some cases they are accurate representations, this is not always the case and causes some confusion. But still, both are trying to achieve different goals.

In the end it really depends on your personal taste at the moment, really. But I do think Digimon oftentimes is superior, because they are not trying to be scholars in the matter. Is just their art on the subject.

And yeah, I really want to see more of the Mesoamerican pantheon represented in Digimon in the future. About FGO, that just offends me. It's like I had shown a chemist a periodic table, but every element is a porn character.
