Rivals Series Playlist
Okay, so this will be the first ever post I’ll do on this app and I’m not sure whether to laugh or cry about it being about a Yuri on Ice fanfic from years ago that haven’t left me since the first time I read it.
Tumblr media
This is a list of songs you can listen to here that I thought fit Yuuri and Viktor’s feels in the Rivals series by @kazliin, which you can find here:
Until My Feet Bleed and My Heart Aches
Of Bright Stars and Burning Hearts
Rivals- Past, Present and Future
I’m not kidding when I say it’s absolutely life changing (I reread it every year so safe to say it’s my absolute favorite). I would like to list down every single lyric and the intricacies of how I arranged the songs in order but the sane part of my brain is refraining me from doing so. Let’s just say that I followed the progression of both POVs and matched that up with the lyrics of the songs.
It’s almost 4 hours of pure feels so buckle up, here we go.
1. You’re Still a Mystery- Bleachers
2. State of Grace- Taylor Swift
3. Into My Arms- COIN
4. See Through- The Band CAMINO
5. Untouchable- Taylor Swift
6. O Mio Babbino Caro- Giacomo Pucini
7. You Are In Love- Taylor Swift
8. gold rush- Taylor Swift
9. Belle- The Shock Band
10. I Can See You- Taylor Swift
11. Crashing- ILLENIUM, Bahari
12. Movement- Hozier
13. Sun and Moon- Claude-Michel Schönberg, Lea Salonga, Simon Bowman
14. On My Own- Lea Salonga
15. Say Don’t Go- Taylor Swift
16. Let The Light In- Lana Del Rey, Father John Misty
17. K.- Cigarettes After Sex
18. Say My Name Cover- Hozier
19. illicit affairs- Taylor Swift
20. Foolish One- Taylor Swift
21. Never Change- COIN
22. Felt This Way- Carly Rar Jepsen
23. So Close- Jon McLaughlin
24. Magkasuyo Buong Gabi- Agsunta
25. Dark Eyes- The Broln Czech Radio Orchestra
26. Wake Me- Bleachers
27. First Light- Hozier
28. First Time- Hozier
29. Break My Fall- Doc Robinson
30. Pretty Boy- The Neighbourhood
31. TALK ME DOWN- Troye Sivan
32. Fucked My Way Up To The Top- Lana Del Rey
33. The Louvre- Lorde
34. august- Taylor Swift
35. The Other- Lauv
36. Somewhere Only We Know- Keane
37. Fire Meet Gasoline- Sia
38. Don’t Let Me Go- Cigarettes After Sex
39. Francis Forever- Mitski
40. Like a River Runs- Bleachers
41. You Are In Love- Taylor Swift
42. Daylight- Taylor Swift
43. One And Only- Adele
44. Water Under the Bridge- Adele
45. The Last Time- Taylor Swift, Gary Lightbody
46. Bravado- Lorde
47. The Archer- Taylor Swift
48. Falling Slowly- Glen Hansard, Markéta Irglová
49. The Night We Met- Lord Huron
50. Yuri on ICE- Taro Umebayashi
51. Long Live- Taylor Swift
52. Holy Ground- Taylor Swift
53. I Love You Always Forever- Donne Lewis
Forgive me for the abundance of Taylor Swift, she clearly read the Rivals series and made those songs for them specifically.
I tried my best to incorporate both POVs but I think it leaned too Viktor-centric. However, my fav Yuuri song on here is Bravado, it captured his anxiety during the Scandal so well and I resonate with that. It was hard to pick for Viktor but One And Only really stood out to me, it reads like his plea to Yuuri. BUT if I had to choose one song to explain their dynamic it’s Untouchable, applicable for both Yuuri and Viktor and just as heartbreaking.

Release: October 11, 1974
Lyrics:
I've seen the yellow lights go down the Mississippi
I've seen the bridges of the world and they're for real
I've had a red light of the wrist
Without me even gettin' kissed
It still seems so unreal
I've seen the morning in the mountains of Alaska
I've seen the sunset in the east and in the west
I've sang the glory that was Rome
And passed the hound-dog singer's home
It still seems for the best
And I'm far, far away
With my head up in the clouds
And I'm far, far away
With my feet down in the crowds
Lettin' loose around the world
But the call of home is loud
Still is loud
I've seen the Paris lights from high upon Montmartre
And felt the silence hanging low in No-Man's-Land
And all those spanish nights were fine
It wasn't only from the wine
It still seems all in hand
And I'm far, far away
With my head up in the clouds
And I'm far, far away
With my feet down in the crowds
Lettin' loose around the world
But the call of home is loud
Still is loud
I've seen the yellow lights go down the Mississippi
The grand Bahama island stories carry on
And all those arigato smiles
Stay in your memory for a while
There still seems more to come
And I'm far, far away
With my head up in the clouds
And I'm far, far away
With my feet down in the crowds
Lettin' loose around the world
But the call of home is loud
Still is loud
Songwriter:
And I'm far, far away
With my head up in the clouds
And I'm far, far away
With my feet down in the crowds
And I'm far, far away
But the sound of home is loud
Still is loud
Jim Lea / Neville Holder
SongFacts:
"Far Far Away" is a song by the British rock band Slade, released in 1974 as the lead single from the band's first soundtrack album and fifth studio album 'Slade in Flame', in promotion of the upcoming film of the same name. The song was written by lead vocalist Noddy Holder and bassist Jim Lea, and produced by Chas Chandler. It reached No. 2 in the UK, remaining in the charts for six weeks. The song was certified UK Silver by BPI in November 1974.
By 1974, Slade had become a big success in the UK, Europe and beyond, however the band felt that continuing to provide 'more of the same' was not what they wanted to do. Their manager Chas Chandler suggested they do a movie, to which the band agreed. To accompany the film, Holder and Lea began writing material for a soundtrack album, which would continue to see the band break out of their successful formula and try different musical ideas. "Far Far Away" was selected as the album's lead single and was released in October 1974, reaching No. 2 in the UK.
"Far Far Away" originated with Holder. While on tour in America, he came up with the opening line while sitting on a balcony overlooking the Mississippi river in Memphis. Manager Chas Chandler urged him to go away and write the song immediately. Holder went to his hotel room and returned half an hour later having completed a basic version of the song, with the title "Letting Loose Around the World". Lea later developed the song further, in particular the chorus. In the band's 1984 biography Feel the Noize!, Lea recalled: ""Far Far Away" was a real collaboration between Nod and myself. The verse was Nod's and the chorus was mine. I wanted to record it like a barrelhouse song with a very airy feel for us but Chas wasn't keen."
In a 1986 fan club interview, guitarist Dave Hill spoke of the song's lyrics: "The song was written about being abroad wasn't it? "Yellow lights go down the Mississippi" and all that - being in the States and wanting to go back home. They were just experiences. Obviously, when you are on the road, you are writing about being on the road, you're writing about what's going on." Holder has cited the song as his favourite Slade song, while drummer Don Powell has stated it to be one of his favourites. Holder recalled in the late 1990s: "The atmosphere, the feel of it, the melody and the lyric, it all sat into place."

Our Mother the Mountain & Led Zeppelin II!
Our Mother the Mountain
Be Here To Love Me
Well, the moon's come and gone/
But a few stars hang on to the sky/
Well, the wind's runnin' free/
Though it ain't up to me to ask why
But the poets are demanding their pay/
And they've left me with nothin' to say/
'Cept hold me and tell me/
You'll be here to love me today
Kathleen
It's plain to see, the sun won't shine today/
But I ain't in the mood for sunshine anyway
She Came and She Touched Me
And the mirror pleads sadly, has it all come to this?
And I wonder will she call my name?
Like a Summer Thursday
Her face was crystal, fair, and fine/
And her breath was morning and her lips were wine/
And her eyes were laughter and her touch divine/
And her face was crystal and she was mine
Out Mother the Mountain
So I reach for her hand and her eyes turn to poison/
And her hair turns to splinters/
And her flesh turns to brine
Second Lover’s Song
Would your eyes more brightly shine?
Would your laughter be so tender?
If you'd been only mine
For as long as you remember?
St. John the Gambler
And winter held high around the mountains breast/
And the cold of a thousand snows/
Lay heaped upon the forest lea
Tecumseh Valley
The name she gave was Caroline/
Daughter of a miner/
Her ways were free/
And it seemed to me/
That sunshine walked beside her
Snake Mountain Blues
Snake mountain blues/
Got me down low/
I could die in the morning/
But no one would know
My Proud Mountains
So friends, when my time comes, as surely it will/
You just carry my body out to some lonesome hill/
And lay me down easy where the cool rivers run/
With only my mountains 'tween me and the sun
Why She’s Acting This Way
Like silence, she stands, like laughter, she falls/
From a castle of sand, like a memory, she calls
Led Zeppelin II
Whole Lotta Love
You've been learning, baby, I've been learning/
All them good times, baby, baby, I've been yearning (more of a fan of the groove shift here but whatever)
What Is and What Should Never Be
Catch the wind, see us spin/
Sail away leave today/
Way up high in the sky, hey, whoa/
But the wind won't blow/
You really shouldn't go/
It only goes to show/
That you will be mine/
By takin' our time, ooh
The Lemon Song
Every time I go away and leave you, darling/
You send me the blues way down the line
Thank You
Little drops of rain whisper of the pain/
Tears of loves lost in the days gone by
Heartbreaker
Some people cry, and some people die/
By the wicked ways of love
Living Loving Maid
Come on, babe, on the roundabout/
Ride on the merry-go-round/
We all know what your name is/
So you better lay your money down
Ramble On
But now it's time for me to go/
The autumn moon lights my way/
For now I smell the rain/
And with it pain/
And it's headed my way
Bring It on Home
Wait this song has lyrics??? This is brand new information!!

Do ya have certain songs ya associate with each ro?
ah yes and no....
i did post one that reminded me of lea & the hunter a while ago (this one) and i do have two specific songs that i associate with merry but i can't share them because they will spoil her backstory LOL
so instead i like if i had a heart by fever ray for her which is a bit more general than the other two, but definitely still makes me think of her.
i do lean towards darker songs for clementine (for reasons i cannot reveal just yet 🙈) , and i like through the valley for both them and the hunter, more separate for each rather than them together... (yes the ashley johnson cover because im obsessed with her)
also this little tune i posted played on the pandura
rivers by leon bridges is one i associate with noel and the hunter. i think most people will see the connection in the lyrics if you've played xir blackwater route (hopefully. idk maybe not lmao but the chapter 2 reveals will make up for it i guess) i also really associate creatures in flight by the huntress and the holder of hands with again both noel and the hunter. (shoutout to the anon who rec'd a song by this band once and now theyre one of my faves lmfao)
i like. the last of us cover of wayfaring stranger for the hunter and jorah. if anyone has been around for a while u probably already know those games are a huge inspiration for me (obviously listing two songs from the game here) and i did genuinely unintentionally fashion jorah after joel but at this point i'm just leaning into it... i can deny it no more..... (when i made the artbreeder for jorah i was mortified that he was literally just older joel but it's fine i've accepted it now)
here is the live version because to this day it gives me chills when i listen to it
i do have a playlist and i have posted it before but it's kinda embarrassing and old now and it is mainly vibes though the two merry songs are on this (as well as the others here) and if you figure out which ones they are pretend like you didn't lmfao. i do pretty much exclusively write w this playlist in the background, or i really like the last of us game soundtrack for writing, as well as the red dead redemption game soundtrack.... unfortunately otherwise i tend to listen to the same 5 songs and i haven't really listened to any new music in a long time
oh also i do have a little music tag too for the rare times i reblog music

selection of lyrics under the cut
not a pretty girl
I am not an angry girl/But it seems like I've got everyone fooled/Every time I say something they find hard to hear/They chalk it up to my anger/And never to their own fear/Imagine you're a girl/Just trying to finally come clean/Knowing full well they'd prefer you were dirty/And smiling
all i really want
Do I wear you out?/You must wonder why I'm relentless and all strung out/I'm consumed by the chill of solitary/I'm like Estella/I like to reel it in and then spit it out/I'm frustrated by your apathy
the body is a blade
Try your best to slowly withdraw/From the darkest impulses of your heart/Try your best to feel and receive/Your body is a blade that cuts a path from day to day
sword
My body is a sword/It gets sharper when it gets ignored/My body is a sword/It gets sharper when it gets ignored
monsters under the bed
I stayed up to hear the breathing/Eyes adjusting to the light/But there's monsters underneath my bed/I can't see them but I still feel scared/They all say I'm not okay/Such a shame, never felt so good/They all think I'm someone else/Not myself (not myself)/But the feeling's good
situation
Take your hands off of me/There's nothing wrong with me/I don't like sympathy/Don't you dare pity me/'Cause you don't know my situation/We've had at most one conversation/Don't come out of the blue/And tell me what to do
pop song
Oh, won't you take me home?/I've got nowhere to be/I'm lonely, oh/I'm lonely, oh/And take me back to bed/And shoot me in the head/And don't let all this/And when did all this/And I'm not coming home, no, I'm never coming back/You'll miss me when I'm gone but I'm never coming back/I'm rotten at my core/I'm ugly deep inside
dig me out
Dig me out/Dig me in/Out of this mess/Baby, out my head/What do you want?/What do you know?
orange blossoms
I don't wanna be here/How am I supposed to be healed?/I don't wanna be here/Staring at the wall again/Somebody hold me hostage/Somebody make me think I might be worth something
dark turn of mind
Take me and love me if you want me/Don't ever treat me unkind/'Cause I had that trouble already/And it left me with a dark turn of mind/Now I see the bones in the river/And I feel the wind through the pine/And I hear the shadows a-calling/To a girl with a dark turn of mind
woman here
Oh, it'll take/The time it takes/But it's a Friday night/I wanna get shitfaced/And oh, in the morning, I'll forget this urge/And step out of bed/And stumble into some other trouble/'Cause I can't be a woman here/No, I can't be a woman here
oom sha la la
I'm throwing out the milk/The olives got old/I'm tired of my mind getting heavy with mold/I need to start a garden/I need to start a garden/I need to start a garden/I need to start a garden!
fetch the bolt cutters
I grew up in the shoes they told me I could fill/Shoes that were not made for running up that hill/And I need to run up that hill/I need to run up that hill, I will, I will, I will, I will, I will/Fetch the bolt cutters, I've been in here too long/Fetch the bolt cutters, whatever happens, whatever happens
like i used to
Sleeping in late like I used to/Crossing my fingers like I used to/Waiting inside like I used to/Avoiding big crowds like I used to
let it rain
Let it go/No mother, no father, no home/Forget as all others/Have forgotten/When I'm alone/But give me hope/That help is coming/When I need it most
hard drive
I ran into Perry at Lowell's place/Her gemstone eyes caught my gaze/She said, "Oh, dear, I can see you've had a rough few months/But this year, it's gonna be a good one/I'll count to three and tap your shoulder/We're gonna put your heart back together/So all those little pieces they took from you/They're coming back now/They'll miss 'em too/So close your eyes/I'll count to three/Take a deep breath/Count with me"

Every ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special’ Performance Ranked
Tumblr media
In late 2019, Disney+ premiered the first season of the highly anticipated spin-off series ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’, based on the Disney Channel franchise ‘High School Musical’.
A year later, the series released its very first holiday special, in which the cast member detailed their favourite holiday memories whilst performing covers of some Christmas classics (including two originals).
Below is a ranking of every performance from the least good to the best of them all! These rankings are based on both the performance and the quality of each song. So let’s begin!
Tumblr media
13. ‘Last Christmas’ - performed by Matt Cornett
Much like any Christmas musical special, a cover of the Wham classic was featured, and this time it was Matt Cornett (E.J. Caswell).
Whilst the vocals were fairly decent on this one, Cornett’s cover lacked the emotion, fun and vibrance that one would expect from a ‘Last Christmas’ performance. The song is known for either its high-tempo and exciting nature or its ability to captivate an audience with its emotional lyrics and somehow this version attempts neither of those.
The visuals appear to be based around Matt Cornett’s car, forcing us out of the Christmassy feel the song is used to giving off.
So with the fact that the visuals are pretty plain and how the performance lacks much feeling, ‘Last Christmas’ is unfortunately the worst performance from the special.
Tumblr media
12. ‘Hanukkah Medley’ - performed by Julia Lester
Julia Lester is an incredibly talented cast member, but this performance doesn’t leave much to remember her by.
Although the medley of Hanukkah songs is decent, it is (at times) pitchy and awkward, with the performance being particularly plain.
Lester isn’t the show’s best dancer, but she is definitely a powerhouse vocalist, so perhaps she should have gone for something that could have showcased that instead of attempting a dance-pop number like this.
Saying that, the song on its own isn’t bad and is a fun pop song, but combined with the clunky visuals and uncomfortable-looking outfit, it doesn’t leave a great taste in your mouth after watching it.
Tumblr media
11. ‘What Are You Doing New Years Eve?’ - performed by Kate Reinders and Mark St. Cyr
What is dubbed as Mark St. Cyr’s (Mr Mazarra) first televised musical performance, the Margaret Whiting cover is a fun and decent addition to the Holiday special.
We witness a cute few minutes of Kate Reinders (Miss Jenn) and Mark St. Cyr calling each other on the phone and singing to one another.
Whilst there’s nothing that is vocally spectaculor, Cyr and Reinders put on a corny cute performance together with their quirk and great chemistry.
Tumblr media
10. ‘White Christmas’ - performed by Larry Saperstein
With his background in theatre, there’s no surprise that Larry Saperstein (Big Red) is able to pull of a great performance. Throughout the number we see Saperstein setting up the stage and then donning a suit and tie as he takes on the Christmas classic.
The performance is sweet, and the vocals are nice, but it appears to lack much beyond that. Saying that, it’s not a bad performance overall, it just isn’t quite as good as the rest of the special, so for that reason, it’s our 10th best of the group.
Tumblr media
9. ‘Little Saint Nick’ - performed by Joshua Bassett and Matt Cornett
The second Matt Cornett song of the special delivers a lot more than his solo. This duet with Joshua Bassett (Ricky Bowen) is a fresh and vibrant take on the Beach Boys classic, whilst not straying away from the boisterous vibes from the original.
The visuals also follow suit with the song, and whilst they’re not the most re-playable of clips, it’s still a fun and sweet performance attached to a vibrant song.
Tumblr media
8. ‘This Christmas (Hang All the Mistletoe)’ - performed by Sofia Wylie
Kicking off the show we see Sofia Wylie take on Donny Hathaway’s song ‘This Christmas (Hang All the Mistletoe)’. Wylie is known as the show’s best dancer - by a mile - whilst also being a pretty decent singer, and this number is a great example of both of those.
The performance has its slight downfall with the vocals being slightly off at points, but when that happens, she makes up for it with her great dancing and camera presence.
A Sofia Wylie number would be expected to rank a little higher than her performance did here, but nonetheless her cover was still enjoyable. A more dance-focused visual may have been more beneficial for the young starlet, but this cover still does its job, and starts the special off to a wonderful beginning.
Tumblr media
7. ‘Feliz Navidad’ - performed by Joe Serafini and Frankie Rodriguez
Out of the three duets of the special, this ranks highest as the chemistry, visuals and vocals carry this performance to better heights.
Joe Serafini (Seb Matthew-Smith) and Frankie Rodriguez (Carlos Rodriguez) are the show’s most underrated couple, as their characters lack the screen time of many others but still manage to make the most of it regardless. The same can be said here in this exciting cover of José Feliciano’s Christmas hit.
Much like Julia Lester, the two probably would have found a better result with a ballad, but unfortunately not everybody could be given that opportunity. Still, Serafini and Rodriguez knock it out the park with this amusing and cutesy cover, which is combined with adorable visuals of the two decorating a Christmas tree.
Tumblr media
6. ‘That’s Christmas To Me’ - performed by Kate Reinders, Julia Lester, Frankie Rodriguez and Joe Serafini
In this thrilling Pentatonix cover we see four of the show’s best vocalists prove their place in this programme here. This cover features no instruments other than the vocals of the four performers, and it’s clear that they don’t need anything else.
Serafini is the standout of the group, but that isn’t to take away from the talent of the rest of them. The four vocalists create a perfectly spine-tingling cover that is both sweet and enticing.
Tumblr media
5. ‘The Perfect Gift’ - performed by Joshua Bassett
Another original song that also features on the show’s second season is Joshua Bassett’s ‘The Perfect Gift’, which he also wrote. This song is one of the standouts from the soundtrack, giving the romantic, coddling vibe that we’re so used to Ricky and Nini offering.
The lyrics of the song are sweet and warm, proving that ‘The Perfect Gift’ is a song that can easily become its own Christmas classic - and Bassett’s charming vocals make sure of it. This is a phenomenal song that one can imagine being serenaded with by the fireplace on a cold, Winter evening.
Its one letdown are the visuals, which could do with more ambitious B-roll, but other than that, ‘The Perfect Gift’ makes us even more exciting for the sophomore season.
Tumblr media
4. ‘Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)’ - performed by Dara Reneé
Vocally, this is the greatest song on the soundtrack. Dara Reneé (Kourtney Greene) hits every note and makes sure that the “replay” button is hit repeatedly.
Unfortunately, due to the fact that the visuals only feature two different shots and are combined with the closing credits, this performance isn’t placed as high as the song deserved.
'Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)’ has been covered by some of the greatest musical icons of all time, including Mariah Carey, Leona Lewis and Michael Bublé and - it appears that Reneé can find her place on that top 3 podium (sorry, Bublé).
Tumblr media
3. ‘Something In The Air’ - performed by the cast of ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’
One of the two original songs from the special, ‘Something In The Air’ is actually a part of the second season; the Drama Club creates an Instagram page and uses this to attract more viewers to the page.
The song itself is very Disney Channel-esque (in a good way), giving very similar vibes to ‘Set It Off’ from ‘Descendants’. But what really brings the tune together are the ambitious “one-take” visuals. It definitely took more than one take, and each scene is also most definitely not filmed consecutively, but that doesn’t retract from how seamless each transition is and how much hard work went into perfecting each shot.
Sofia Wylie is the clear star of the performance with her breathtaking dancing, whilst everyone else delivers with their impeccable timing and impeccable energy.
The song is fun, but the visuals are even greater, making ‘Something In The Air’ one of the special’s best numbers.
Tumblr media
2. ‘River’ - performed by Olivia Rodrigo
This Joni Mitchell song has been covered by Ellie Goulding, Lea Michele, and many more, and much like Reneé’s take on ‘Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)’, this deserves the same recognition as its predecessors.
Olivia Rodrigo (Nini Salazar-Roberts) can be given a piano and a microphone and create some of the greatest Disney musical magic we’ve seen, and her cover of ‘River’ is the epitome of that.
Her chilling vocals and solemn emotion gives this sad festive classic the mood it deserves, and makes us almost wish it were a part of the show’s canon with how sentimental Rodrigo makes it feel. This is a standout on the soundtrack, and definitely worth revisiting again and again.
Tumblr media
1. ‘Believe’ performed by Dara Reneé
If it were possible, we’d rename this show ‘The Dara Reneé Show’ as both of her performances take our breath away. Reneé’s cover of Josh Groban’s ‘The Polar Express’ song is the best song of the special. It is thrilling, emotive, and proves just how talented the young star is.
Reneé proved in the freshman season of ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ that she is one of (if not, the) best performer out of the cast, and if anyone were to ask you why you think that, ‘Believe’ would be your proof.
This stunning cover comes with so much charm and a fabulous set that it leaves no room for questioning why it is the best performance of the night.
What did you think of the special? Do you agree with these rankings? What performance was your favourite? Let us know!
‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special’ is available to stream right now on Disney+!

What’s a meme/quote that reminds you of the doctor/master (meme for each version pls)?
I’ll do song lyric quotes because I can’t think of any straight quotes rn (also I recently started making a Doctor/Master playlist so the songs are all there). And I’ll do two because I couldn’t narrow it down any more.
TenSimm
“I chased your love around a figure eight, I need you more than I can take. You promise forever and a day, and then you take it all away.” Ellie Goulding, Figure 8
“Deadly fever, please don’t ever break. Be my reliever, ‘cus I don’t self-medicate.” Billie Eilish, My Strange Addiction
TwelveMissy
“Sitting here talking to myself, thinking how I used to use you, only thing I’m used to. Last night was the last time, was the last time.” Selena Gomez and Trevor Daniel, Past Life
“Honey you’re familiar, like my mirror years ago.” Hozier, From Eden

“I can’t decide which one of us will leave here tonight...I’m just a shadow in the light you leave behind.” The Birthday Massacre, Midnight
“But it’s in my roots, it’s in my veins, it’s in my blood, and I stain every heart that I use to heal the pain.” Adele, River Lea
But also, at the same time (because the question specifically mentioned memes)...

I really, really hate titles, so very much, and like 95% of the time I just borrow a song title or lyric rather than figure that shit out on my own. It was interested to me to see what songs I drew inspiration from, so not only did I make a spotify playlist with all these songs, I also threw together a list of all of them. So, whether I listened to them while I wrote, obsess over these songs every single day, or simply heard them once 5 years ago and pulled them out of nowhere to title some gay fanfic, here ya go.
1) Lover- Taylor Swift all's well that ends well to end up with you (Kalluzeb)
2) Forward- Beyoncé, James Blake forward (Kalluzeb)
3) Crazy Little Thing Called Love- Queen crazy little thing called love (Kalluzeb)
4) Here I Go Again- Whitesnake down the only road I've even known (Kalluzeb)
5) Somewhere Over the Rainbow- Israel Kamakawiwo'ole somewhere (Kalluzeb)
6) Run to You- Lea Michele Run to You (Finnpoe)
7) Can't Help Falling in Love- Elvis Presley like a river flows (Finnpoe)
8) That Would Be Enough- Hamilton We Could Be Enough (Finnpoe)
9) Unconditionally- Katy Perry unconditionally (Kes and Poe Dameron)
10) The End of All Things- Howard Shore, Renée Fleming* *also largely and significantly inspired by the actual book/movie quote "insert here" Here, at the end of all things (Rex, Kix, Jesse & Fives)
11) The Night We Met- Lord Huron the only traveler (Finnpoe)
12) The entire My Fair Lady soundtrack (excluding like two songs)
Who Takes Good Care of Me ; 500 Follower Celebration (Finnpoe)

Day 10
Today’s album: Adele, 25 (2016)
I was trying to decide on an album for today, and I opened my albums on spotify saw this and decided it was perfect for a rainy, Friday night in.
I had completely forgotten how much 1) I love Adele, and 2) how damn impressive and good this album is. I’m so glad I listened to this again. There is not a bad song on this entire album. The album’s themes of heartbreak; moving on; the struggles, self-questioning, regrets, that come with growing up and adulthood really just “get it” for lack of more adequate words. When We Were Young has always been one of my favorites. Remedy and River Lea are other highlights for me. Her voice is always impressive, but in All I Ask of you she takes my breathe away. My favorite song on the album is probably Million Years Ago because those lyrics hit me hard. They are a little too relatable and it is painful and therapeutic at the same time.

5, 11, 13, 14, 20 (I just picked some numbers without checking fnfnf sorry in advance)
Sdfmhnh that’s fair.
5. it’s raining outside, what do you start playing?
Meet Me In The Hallway by Harry Styles, River Lea by Adele, Grace by Lewis Capaldi, Paper Houses by Niall Horan, On My Way by Foxes, Mystery of Love by Sufjan Stevens are the first ones that come to mind. Or some calming piano music.
14. favorite song in terms of lyrics?
Girl Almighty by 1D has some parts that really speak to me. I mean, in general the song makes no sense but especially the line ”let’s pray we stay young stay made of lightning”? I love it, It’s my favorite lyric. Throne by Bring Me The Horizon also has some lyrics I feel very deep in my ~soul, you know. I feel like I’m blanking, I’ll probably come up with ten more songs two hours after I’ve posted this and wonder why I didn’t say those.
20. song with the best bass riff?
Uhhh... Well honestly the first one that comes to mind is Another One Bites The Dust sdfhjnj.

put a “∞” in my ask box and i’ll shuffle my music player and give you my favorite lyric from the song that comes up!
Oh I can't go back, but the reeds are growing out of my fingertipsI can't go back to the river
But it's in my roots, it's in my veinsIt's in my blood and I stain every heart that I use to heal the pain
River Lea by Adele
so i cheated a bit, because i really love this song and i’ve been listening to its album this evening. it’s got such a wonderful vibe that i don’t think adele really has in a lot of her other songs, with that sort of otherworldy, fantasy/fiction feeling.

Tumblr media
In the big court, all the children were playing, running everywhere around, trying some football, dancing… Two teachers were keeping an eye on them because they were between three and six years old. And they were so many! Playing, running, screaming, laughing… There were just two children, lost in the big bed of flowers. One lying among the petals and grass, the other being sat on a yellow scarf. They were just five years old but the other, with his long blue mane, was too afraid to dirty his clothes and yet wanted to be there. His friend had to insist again and again for him to sit on the scarf… Not actually force him but he couldn’t dirty something that wasn’t his. Especially because the scarf was so important for the joyful redhead…
But he could wash it.
His parents wouldn’t scold him for getting dirty, in contrary. And that wasn’t surprising to see him coming back every day a little bit more covered by mud or soil...
Here again, he was surrounded by flowers, making fly petals each time he was moving. And he never stayed on place. Though, there? He was pretty sage, trying to do something with a flower while Isa was looking a book. Not only the images but the words because his nanny taught him that. Sometimes, he would glance at Lea, laugh at his goofiness, get interest to the most beautiful and unbelievable stories his child mind would bring him but just staying next to him was enough. Sometimes, they would lay and look at the clouds, sometimes they would touch each other hands.
Grab each other hands.
“Isa?” Lea called.
“Hmm?”
He looked up from the story of Patch the Dalmatian who basically passed the whole book to count his spot and see a few object to have his fur absolutely beautiful.
“Look!”
He had taken two flowers. One red, one blue, and had entwined them to shape their stem in a circle.
“Isa! I swear… one day, I’ll marry you!” He held out his hand, smiling. “Ya wanna?”
“Marry you?”
“One day.”
“I want to,” Isa replied, smiling.
“Yeeeeeeeeeees!!!”
Lea slid his homemade ring to his finger.
Isa leaned in and kissed softly his lips, the wind swirling in his hairs and petals joining the dance.
They were just children. They didn’t know what they were doing and maybe this kiss didn’t mean exactly the same thing as for the adults. Yet, this was their first kiss. And it meant so much for them…
  Summer was coming.
In Radiant Garden, ever Summer had the perfect time, warm enough to play with hotter day to go swim but nothing to choking, wandering in the park was delicious. The night were just tenderly warm, you could push out the blankets and keep the window open so you could hear the animals but not dying of the heat. And about mosquitos… Legend said they didn’t exist here…
It was perfect…
Except when you were about to have big exams and your parents were expecting from you to have perfect grades.
Isa worked every day since three weeks and he was surrounded by books of different matters. He never stopped. Except for going to school, to take a shower and to eat. But that… that was brought in his room by employee. Every year since ten years, he had the best grade and that wasn’t a surprise since he even slept so little to be sure he remembered everything.
Everything.
The slightest thing that could appear in the exam, he would know it.
He had his cheek against his palm, taking notes while reading two books of different matters at once when he heard a sound. An unusual sound. Not even the special cling of a tiny stone throw on his window. This one, actually, was pretty common or used to be common. Because, at some point, he just started to let his window open and someone would slid in at some point of the night.
Someone he trusted.
The window was still open but nobody sneaked in.
Instead, a soft music swirled around. Lyrics…
He listened.
“Shall I stay? Would it be a sin if I can’t help falling in love with you?”
Isa got up, letting go on his work. He could for a few minutes, right? He approached the windowsill covered with books and other items helpful for studying. He bent over it and saw, on the grass of his big garden perfectly maintained, among the colorful flowers, a beautiful redhead.
“Like a river flows surely to the sea, Darling, so it goes. Some things are meant to be. Take my hand, take my whole life too!”
Isa couldn’t help but smile when he saw Lea sang with so much passion this old song.
“For I can’t help falling in love with you!!!” Lea raised up his arms to him, the little lights around the garden beaming in the windows and in the fountain around, making him shine like an Angel. “Like a river flow surely to the sea. Darling, so it goes. Some things are meant to be. Take my hand! Take my whole life too!!! For I can’t help… falling in love with YOUUUUUUU!!! For I CAN’T HELP!!! Falling in LOVE WITH YOUUUUUU!!! FOR I CAN’T HEEEEEELP FALL…”
Water splashed Lea suddenly, making him stop singing.
“Can you stop?!” one of the employee shouted.
It was the old nanny Isa used to have. He was so attached to her, when time went, he begged to still have her around and she became the one in charge of the whole house.
“Lea? Are you okay?” Isa called.
“It’s just water!” the old nanny replied.
Lea shook himself to make the water fly away and he passed his hands in his firey red hairs.
“I’m fine!”
“Will you leave?! He’s studying and you will only disturb him!”
“Buuuuuuut IIIIIIII love him!!!!” Lea looked up at him. “ISA I LOVE YOU!!”
“Do you want me to throw you another bucket?!” she said. “Leave! Leave!!”
“I’ll come back! My love! Have my Heart!” Lea said, acting as if he was literally throwing a Heart to him.
He moved back, to the end of the garden, toward the barrier leading to the street.
“You have my Heart, Lea!”
“Isa!” the nanny said.
“Yes, I come back to work,” he replied.
“Why wouldn’t you come say goodbye to your friend? That’s what politeness asks,” she offered with a smile.
Isa smiled back and quickly left his room to run to Lea, which was coming back to the backdoor. He was jumping on place and, of course, he was thanking the nanny. Which pressed him to stay quiet. Her Mistress was in the living room and she could hear all of this… She wouldn’t be pleased.
But the nanny couldn’t help smiling when she saw her young Master arrive in the garden and hug tenderly Lea, when she saw him caressing his cheek tenderly and kiss his lips. She looked away and her heart became tight. Maybe she should tell him…
But he was so young and hopped so much.
He deserved to dream…
The house was always filled with sound. Either it was joy or scream. It was almost impossible to have the slightest intimacy here. Proof? Amalia was preparing herself in the bathroom when she heard sound and then she saw her little brother slid in and grab the hairbrush. Though the strangest thing was the fact he was wearing one of the suit of their father. Lea was becoming very tall as the puberty hit and the said suit was, in fact, a little too tiny. His belly was slightly appearing and without boots he would have look ridicule.
She enrolled a towel around her body and closed her arms, her long blond hairs sliding along her back and dripping.
“Can I know what you’re doing?”
“Sure! I’ll propose!”
“Propose?” she replied, frowning.
“Yup!” He turned toward her. “I’m gonna ask Isa’s hand! And I bet he’s gonna say yes! He already said so anyway.”
“But he was just a child…” Amalia pointed out.
“But he still loves me,” Lea smiled.
“And we all supposed he was smart,” she sighed with a smirk.
“Eeeeeeeeeh!!”
“Come on! I’ll help you to be prettier for your proposal.”
“Thank you!!”
Lea was excited like never and when she approached him to brush his hair and tied them, she noticed he had taken a tiny box and was checking he had the ring. It was very simple silver ring but she also knew that Lea only worked two hours per day and that he gave most of the munnies he earned to their parents so to have this, it had been hard. He certainly stopped to eat too much ice cream… Not that it was that bad.
But…
She held back a sigh, just making sure her brother would be absolutely cute. Cuter than usually!!!
Lea did his best, really. With the little munnies he still had, he bought a bouquet of flowers and he would certainly have brought something for the parents if he could have. But he couldn’t… he could just have the ring, those flowers, his undying love and some courage…
He was really excited when he knocked at the door.
Soon, the old nanny of his lover would arrive and in less than thirty minutes, he would kiss his fiancé.
Well…
He will, right?
He didn’t think that Isa would say ‘no’? Now… Now, he was afraid. Could he?
No… No, certainly not!
But…
When the door opened, he had a little jump and smiled to a thin man with tiny googles.
“Oh, hello, Sir! I’m coming to see Isa, Sir!”
The man observed his outfit, the flowers and he even noticed the tiny box coming out from his pants. He let out a slight groan coming from his tight lips and he entered the house, closing the door.
Lea hesitated.
Should he come and insist?
He knew Isa’s parents weren’t that easy to live with. It wasn’t a surprise Isa passed his days to work. And it was really rare for them to see each other because, not only he had stopped to go to school because they hadn’t the money for but also because Isa’s family thought it was a very bad atmosphere and that it keep disturb their son. It had been more than five years since Isa left his house except for going in the garden with him now. And still… Sometimes, they would even be sure it wasn’t more than five or ten minutes.
Lea approached the door to knock the door.
His fist was still raised when the said door opened on Isa’s father who looked him with the sharpest look Lea never received.
And he lived in the part of the World or you could be stab if you dared go out with food.
“Come inside, young man,” he said.
Lea nodded and entered in the house. He could see Isa’s head peaking from the highest stairs, Isa seeming to lean on a barrier, and he smiled him. Which the father didn’t miss.
“Go back to study, Isa!” he commanded with a severe tone.
Isa moved back without the slightest word.
“Come,” the man said.
He made him walk through the gigantic house until the living room and when they arrived there, he sat next to his wife who was doing accountant work for the household. While she could have let that for the servant, it was very important and so she preferred to keep an eye on that.
Lea approached the sofa in front of them.
“No,” the father said with a cold tone. “What do you want, showing a suit you can’t afford, flowers you found in your sad side and with… Would you dare show in my house with a ring? For my son?” he asked.
“Yes, Sir! I want to ask him to marry me!”
“I see,” he replied.
“It’s indecent to ask his hand rather than asked us if we’re willing to let you have our son,” the mother said.
“Oh… I didn’t know… So… uh, Sir, Ma’am, can I, pleaaaaaase, marry your son? He’s the only one for me.”
“What will you offer him?” the man asked.
Lea was surprised but he still smiled.
“My love!!”
He saw a frown in the parents.
“Well… I’m young but I swear I’ll do my best for him! I’m working to have a bit of money already, we will have a house and perhaps…”
“What about the dowry?” Selene, the mother, asked with a piercing glare.
“The… what?” Lea asked.
“The dowry. You’re not expecting us to give you money to have Isa. We know how you are…”
“No. I don’t want money… just to make Isa happy.”
“With this train of life?” the man snickered. “You don’t really expect that. Your family has nothing to give us to remove our heir to us. You have nothing to give to Isa if not the love you’re claiming. However… what will you do the moment you will have nothing but dirt to eat? And you’re giving that to our son? NEVER!” he roared.
“But Sir… I…”
“I accepted you to disturb my son when you had just this vain flirt,” the man said, getting up and walking toward Lea, “but now you’re using him?!”
Lea moved back.
“I’m not using him! I love him! I always said I’ll marry one day.”
“You were lying all along,” the father replied, walking toward him. “You will never marry him. Leave my house and never talk to my son again. I will never let you approach him. Never.”
“But…”
Lea felt the tears in his eyes as he kept moving back, the man walking to him.
“I love him…”
“He’s not for you. Disappear.”
Lea wanted to talk about the apprenticeship at Ansem’s castle but he kept quiet because, at least, he would be able to see him. He cherished this opportunity but he couldn’t hold back his tears because he was afraid. Because he didn’t want to lose he loved. Because Isa was all his life…
“But…”
“GET OUT!!”
The man was roaring like a wolf and Lea jumped of fear, he moved back and stammered.
He stepped outside of the living room and turned to ran away and leave the way too big mansion.
He glanced at the door of the garden. He could run there, scream Isa’s name and he would catch him, they would run away together. They would be happy.
But…
What if he really was about to destroy his whole life?
Isa was a Noble.
When his parents would die, he would have to be the Intendant of Radiant Garden and Ansem had no heir… it was more likely that he had to rules the whole World. He would stain his future. And someone as smart as him wouldn’t be with someone like… him.
He just entered his head between his shoulders, feeling so little suddenly, and walked down the street, fighting not to cry.
“LEA!!!!”
He gasped and looked up to see Isa from a balcony there, whatever from what room.
“Isa… I…”
Lea looked down.
“Lea! I love you!” Isa screamed out, passing above the tiny barrier.
Lea’s heart was beating so strongly in his chest. He couldn’t help but smile and, on the same time, was extremely afraid. Isa was approaching from a little roof.
“MASTER ISA!!”
Two servants arrived and grabbed him by the shoulders.
Lea’s heart ceased to beat.
He was too afraid.
“STOP IT!! JUST STOP!!”
“Lea!!”
“Isa! I’m… I love you! One day!” he swore. “One day!”
He smiled as much as he could and prayed that, from where he was, Isa could only saw his wide smile and not his tears.
