Hello all! Thank you for joining me for my first ever RobStar week! And thank you even more so for giving my fic a chance!!!
I plan to participate every day this week, but if I am unable to for some reason I'll be sure to let you know!
Sorry for the rambling! I'll let you go ahead and jump right in!
[Heads up! A little of the dialogue in this story is courtesy of a prompt by @welcometothewoes!]
RobStar Week 2024, Day 1
Friends to Lovers
“Well, what do you guys think?”
The others looked ahead to the sign where Robin was pointing, displaying a variety of mixed reactions.
Cyborg and Beast Boy had lit up at the reveal, no doubt eager to partake in a series of competitions that would supposedly prove who was superior between the two. Raven rolled her eyes, no doubt dreading the thought of being dragged into Cyborg and Beast Boy’s antics
Starfire’s reaction, strangely enough, was the most passive of the group. She looked up, reading the words displayed on the giant glowing sign.
“Jump City Beach Boardwalk?” Star tilted her head, confused more than anything else. “Please, what is the purpose of these “walking boards”? I was under the impression wood was not sentient.”
“Boardwalk, Star.” Robin gently corrected. “It’s an amusement park near a beach where people can go to have fun.”
“A park for amusement, you say.” Starfire noted. “Fascinating. Please, what is it you do in these kinds of parks?”
“Lots of things Star!” Beast Boy chimed in. “There’s a bunch of themed junk food you can eat, games you can win cool prizes in, and a bunch of rides you can go on ‘til you get sick!”
“How ‘bout a little game of friendly competition, Grass Stain?” Cyborg chimed in, a mischievous glint in his human eye. “Whoever wins the most prizes gets to plan next week’s dinner menu?”
“You're on, Gears for Brains!” Beast Boy exclaimed.
Cyborg ran through the gates first, eager for his 7-day barbecue dream to come true. Beast Boy followed suit, but not before grabbing Raven’s hand.
“C’mon, Rae! You can keep score!”
“Joy.”
Raven’s sarcasm, whether unnoticed or ignored, did little to deter the green teen. Together, they passed through the boardwalk’s gates.
And with that, only two remained.
Robin gestured to the boardwalk’s entrance.
“Shall we?”
Though Starfire was still unsure of the appeal of such a place, she decided to trust Robin’s judgment.
Standing side by side, the duo made their way through the gates.
~~~
“Remember guys, only 5 prizes per person. We don’t want a repeat of last year…”
Though Robin phrased it as a general statement, they all knew who it was meant for. Cyborg and Beast Boy laughed nervously, no doubt trying to hide their guilty expressions. Raven rolled her eyes and Starfire let out a small giggle.
“Only 5, got it!” Cyborg reaffirmed.
Now that he no longer felt guilty about last year’s prize incident, the cybernetic teen led his shapeshifting and dark-clad friends away. He shot a teasing look at their leader.
“Let’s go leave Robby for his date~” He said this in a sing-songy tone.
Robin glared, but he knew there was no ill intent. Cyborg laughed, all while Beast Boy grabbed Raven’s hand to excitedly show her how his favorite games and rides changed from last year.
Soon, all three were out of sight.
Robin let out a sigh of relief, happy to finally have some much needed alone time with his brand new girlfriend.
Turning to check on her, Robin could tell by Starfire’s beaming grin that she was in good spirits. In fact, she’d been wearing this expression since they first left the tower.
“Someone’s happy.” He playfully teased.
"Oh! Sorry, it's just..." Starfire perked up, the shining, uncontrollable smile still not leaving her features. "It's been awhile since I've been this... giddy."
Robin returned the smile twice fold, though his eyebrows shot up in the air.
"Really? We come to the boardwalk every year."
"Yes, but..." Star shyly held Robin's hand, intertwining their fingers. "Never like this."
Ah, so that’s what it was.
Robin could feel his cheeks warming up. Hoping it wasn’t too noticeable, he gave their intertwined hands a gentle squeeze for reassurance.
In a more than chivalrous mood, Robin gestured to the entrance with a little extra flair.
“After you, m’lady.”
Starfire giggled, returning the chivalry in kind.
“Thank you, kind sir.”
Together, one’s hand fitting so naturally with the other’s, the couple made their way through the amusement park’s entrance.
~~~
“Ready, you two?” Richard asked, a dramatic flair to his voice.
“Yeah!” A little boy exclaimed loudly, hands thrown into the air with glee.
“You sure?” Kori questioned, savoring the moment.
“Super duper sure!” A little girl replied, unable to contain her excitement.
Richard and Kori gave each other a knowing glance. At the same time, they removed the hands covering the eyes of the children they held.
“Surprise!” They both yelled out. “Happy Birthday!”
Jake and Mari, now an entire 7 years old, watched with wide eyes and slacked jaws at the birthday gift their parents presented them with.
“Wow / Awesome!” Jake and Mari remarked at the same time.
Squirming out of their parent’s hold, the twins ran up to the gates of the place their parents had brought them to. Right there, in giant, bold letters, displayed the words:
JUMP CITY BEACH BOARDWALK
Eager to begin exploring the beach and amusement park, the children ran back to their parents. Jake took hold of their father’s hand whilst Mari took hold of their mother’s. Together, all four walked hand-in-hand inside through the boardwalk’s gates.

Even when going out on a date, Robin and Starfire have to be ready for the occasional supervillain attack, as we can see here one romantic evening at one of Jump City's restaurants. Our heroes find themselves surrounded by a gang of criminals including the Clock King, Crackle and Psimon, who you may remember from Teen Titans series 5 who joined the Brotherhood of Evil.
This presented me the opportunity to visualise how the Clock King might possibly look as well as Crackle, a low-level goon with electrical powers who has worked under Clock King in the comics. Robin, after ditching his shades, is fighting the Clock King with his batons which he will later use as Nightwing. The Clock King is armed with a pair of buzzsaws that resemble cogs in a clock, but are sharpened to cut through just about any surface.
Of course Starfire ditched her pretty dress for her Tamaranean-style bikini to take on Psimon while her lover fends off the other two villains. She isn't exactly one to let clothing get in the way while she 'kicks the butt.' It can't be argued that she loves having her Robin in a suit and bow tie.

RobStar Week 2024, Day 5 - Date
Just a little something that I made a while back. It’s essentially just a retouched version of a screencap from the animated feature - “Constantine: The House of Mystery”. Except with Robin and Starfire
This was what happened after the date 😏

RobStar Week 2023 Day 3 - Crossover AU
Well this may be considered cheating, but given the circumstances, I'd rather offer something than nothing. I had every intention of participating this year but I'm working on a project that I need to get done to be up for a promotion at work.
That said, Day 3 of RobStar Week 2023 is a crossover AU, and so I offer you my multi-chapter fic still in-progress, Robin Rising.
This project aims to crossover a wide variety of DC animated content, which includes this one which focuses on the Teen Titans and Batman: The Animated Series.
And believe you me folks, there is PLENTY of @robxstar goodness to be had in here. I hope you enjoy!

Y'all know what day it is? 👀 That's right! It's Day #2 of Robstar Week!!! While the day #1 prompt was Friends to Lovers, let's pretend it was for Day #2 lol
Anyway, this song cover making process was fun but it was tricky lol Especially the overlapping part, I messed it up so many times and had to listen the song on loop so many times till I found perfection in the editing and actually memorised the whole thing perfectly lmao and that "ooo" part....don't get me started on how hard it was to edit to decent normalcy because AI absolutely SUCKS in tugging notes 😭

Hello all! Congratulations to all participating in RobStar week, both creator and audience!
Also, remember yesterday when I said I'd participate in every prompt this week? Guess which idiot decided to get covid!
This gal!
Luckily, it's not too bad! I have my Vaccines and was told I'd get better in a few days. Unluckily, I feel like I've been hit by a truck.
Thankfully, I already have drafts written up for this week! Unfortunately, a couple of them were unfinished and so I had to complete them in a hurry to meet the schedule.
This is one of two fics that were incomplete. If it is not up to par, I sincerely apologize!
Anyway, I decided to go for a more angst-y approach to today's prompt, heh-heh. Some of the content below may differ from what we are familiar with in the show, but fret not! I will expand on my ideas more once RobStar week is concluded!
With that, please go right ahead and jump right in! I hope you enjoy!
RobStar Week 2024, Day 2
Power Swap
Robin might have to kill Cyborg once he got a hold of him.
While a majority of the cybernetic teen’s inventions had delivered positive results, there were often some that proved more difficult than what they were worth.
The ‘Ability Monitor’ and ‘Flash Teleporter’ proved to be the latter.
A series of hijinks occurred, resulting in both Robin and Starfire getting caught together by both inventions.
And now here he and Starfire were, powers and clothing swapped with the other’s with broken communicators (and by definition GPS’s), as they tried to navigate the endless labyrinth that was Jump City’s National Park.
They must have been out there for hours, seeing as the sky went from beautiful day to stark night.
It did help that he was able to fly over the trees, gaining a better view of their endless landscape. Unfortunately, having trouble staying afloat mixed with being unable to find a definitive landmark certainly made things more difficult than they needed to be.
Yeah, it was no longer a maybe. He was DEFINITELY going to kill Cyborg once they made their way back to the tower.
“Everything okay?” Star asked from below.
Robin lowered himself from the air, hoping the action looked natural despite his trouble doing so.
“Everything’s great!” Robin landed next to her, internally cringed at how overly-peppy his voice sounded. “Perfect, even! Why, I’d go so far to say I've finally perfected your powers!”
Suddenly, as if fate itself decided to call out his bluff, Robin’s left hand glowed an intense bright blue. That hand, leaning against a nearby tree, caused the poor timber to instantly light up in blue flames.
“...”
“...”
Nothing, at least for the first couple of seconds.
“Huh, look at that.” Starfire said in a strangely calm tone.
“AHHHH!” Her partner was the opposite, his features displaying pure panic. “WE HAVE TO PUT IT OUT!”
Robin ran around in a panic. He needed to find something that could keep the fire from spreading throughout the forest!
What to do, what to do, what to d-
HISSSSSSSSSSSSS
A loud hissing sound pulled him back to the present. The poor tree was now covered with a white foam, the last of the blue flames flickering out of existence.
There stood Starfire, a mini fire extinguisher in her hands.
Ah, right. One of the many useful tools stashed inside that signature utility belt.
“Oh, uh…” Robin let out a light cough, cheeks warming up in embarrassment. “Nice work.”
Starfire’s mouth curved into a small smile, her eyes obviously filled with mirth despite being covered by one of the Boy Wonder’s signature masks.
“Well!” Star said in an impressed voice, putting the fire extinguisher back in ‘her’ belt. “Looks like you weren’t lying about perfecting my powers.”
Though his eyes were also masked, Starfire knew he was throwing her an embarrassed glare.
“Not funny.”
Though his hand no longer glowed blue, Robin still shook his hand in an attempt to “chase away” any lingering Starbolts. Star giggled at the sight (resulting in another glare) before she continued leading the way to their intended destination.
“Oh, do not be so hard on yourself.” The now human girl called out to him. “I know firsthand how difficult my powers can be to manage. You are actually doing quite well, despite what you may think.”
Even though he knew she was just trying to cheer him up, it wasn’t like Starfire was necessarily lying.
Robin remembered the Titans’ first month as a team, having to learn about each other and how to work together in-tune with their abilities. Starfire in particular had more than a few moments where her powers flared up out of nowhere, most likely a response to how she was feeling according to her.
On the bright side, thanks to her they managed to find better ways to fire-proof the whole tower.
Her powers, being somewhat fire-based, often had the unavoidable side effect of rising heat.
Rising heat…
Robin blinked in confusion. It was the middle of August and a relatively cold night, why was he so hot all of a sudden?
And why did his stomach start hurting out of nowhere?
Intense…
Suddenly, Robin felt his throat closing up. He tried to take a deep breath but found himself unable to. If anything, his breaths were coming out in short, heavy pants.
Burning…
“Robin?”
Starfire turned, uneasy at how quiet the other suddenly was.
She gasped at the sight before her. Robin was doubled over, one hand clawing at his throat while the other clutched his head.
“ROBIN!”
Starfire immediately ran to his side. She tried to place a hand on his back in an effort to calm him, maybe help him up to examine his condition. However, and much to her shock, the second she made contact with his skin she had to pull away.
He was hot. Burning hot. So much hotter than was supposed to be physically possible.
Starfire’s eyes widened in disbelief.
‘Why…’
She shook her head, utter distraught and confusion filling her head.
‘Why is this happening to him as well!?’
A loud, strained gasp filled her ears and brought her out of her stupor. Robin was now kneeling, purple and silver clothing sticking to his skin as he continued to burn from the inside.
‘No!’ Starfire internally yelled to herself. ‘This is no time to panic!’
She may not have known why this was happening to him, but she did know how to relieve it.
Starfire placed herself in front of Robin, kneeling to meet his level. She held his face in her hands, ignoring the intense pain as his skin burned her hands.
“Robin, listen to me!” Starfire commanded in a voice fit for a leader. “You need to manifest some Starbolts. Right now.”
Robin was more than confused. Why did he feel like his insides were on fire? Why was Starfire commanding him to produce a pair of Starbolts? Why was she so calm?
But regardless, what else could he do except listen?
He closed his eyes, trying hard not to think about the pain enveloping his whole body. His mind worked to recall as many rage-inducing thoughts he could muster.
‘Nothing but a sidekick.’
A different, more controlled heat began forming in Robin’s palms.
‘My last night in Gotham City.’
A small blue flame, bursting with energy, slowly manifested in each of his hands.
‘Slade.’
That did the trick.
A fully formed blue Starbolt, bursting with immense power, appeared in each hand.
“Nicely done!” Starfire’s voice was filled with relief. “Now, keep them in place for as long as you must. In just a moment, you will feel the burning sensation fade.”
Robin’s eyes widened, his masked eyes displaying a fair amount of uncertainty.
“Star, what-”
“Please Robin!” Starfire pleaded, never once releasing him from her hold. “Trust me!”
Robin trusted her. Though he was still unsure of the situation, that much he knew to be true.
Suddenly, Robin felt a wave of cool relief washing over him. The intense burning sensation slowly went down, his insides going from a painful boil to a subtle simmer.
They were both still for a moment. Not a sound could be heard, other than Robin’s labored breathing.
His breathing followed that pattern. His breaths went from difficult, painful huffs to the simple, mindless action it had always been before that moment.
Almost as quickly as it began, Robin was back to his not-so-normal current self.
“Thank goodness!” Starfire let out a sigh of relief as she helped the other to his feet. “I was so worried it would not work!”
Robin watched the Starbolts in his hand slowly fade away, trying his best to process what just transpired.
“Star?” Robin asked, his eyes never leaving the flame in his palm.
Starfire’s body froze. His voice, it’s tone… why did it suddenly hold so much weight?
“Y-yes, Robin?”
The dancing blue flame, once brighter than the moon shining in the black sky above, flickered when the hand it stood on closed.
Even if it was dark, Starfire could not miss the heavy stare directed her way.
“guys…”
Ears perked up, Starfire quickly snapped her head in the direction of where the sound came from.
“robin…”
“starfire…”
The others! They must have been locating them with Cyborg’s heat sensing technology!
Starfire was relieved, thankful for their perfect timing.
“R-Robin.” Star pointed up ahead. “Did you hear that? The others, they must be nearby!”
Grabbing his hand, Starfire tried to listen for the direction of where the voices were coming from.
“They must be over th-”
She tried to walk to where the voices were, but was halted in the process. Looking over her shoulder, she saw Robin planted firmly in place.
“Robin?”
Another tug of his hand. Like before, he wouldn’t budge.
“Why are you…?” Starfire tried pulling him with her, but without her super strength it was no use. “What are you doing? We have to go find the others-”
 “What was that, Starfire.”
Starfire stopped pulling. Her eyes widened behind the mask.
“Wh-what do you me-”
“You know what I’m talking about.” Robin was now the one to hold her hand, keeping her from running away. “What happened earlier?”
Starfire held her breath, more nervous than she had been when she discovered her powers had been transferred to the team leader.
She needed to be careful how she worded this, lest she makes things worse.
“O-oh! You mean that.” Starfire giggled, attempting to diffuse the situation. “You needn’t worry about that! It simply happens whenever I go for long periods of time without releasing my Starbolts!”
“Wait!” This revelation shocked Robin. “Are you saying you’ve felt this on multiple occasions!?”
“Well… yes.” Starfire admitted. “I hadn’t used my Starbolts since we defended the city last week. However, I did not think my condition would pass to you.”
“Forget about that.”
Robin grasped her shoulders, forcing each other’s masked eyes to meet.
“How long have you dealt with this?”
Starfire grimaced, unsure of how he would take her answer.
“Robin…”
“How long, Starfire.”
She considered lying for a moment. The last thing Starfire ever wanted to do was make things difficult for her friends, as it was her personal duty to aid and make things easier for them.
Unfortunately, Robin knew her. He would know if what she said was untrue, especially since he was refusing to let this one go.
“Since I first landed on Earth.” Star answered truthfully. “I noticed it after I first flew away from you all, and I also discovered how to relieve it soon after.”
Robin’s eyes widened, the revelation striking him more painfully than the sensation ever felt. Seeing his reaction, Star knew she needed to resolve this problem as quickly as she could. .
“Robin, please do not worry about me.”
Starfire squeezed his hand in reassurance. She removed the domino mask she wore, wanting him to see the sincerity behind her words.
“I promise you, I can handle it. It is not so bad once you are used to it, and it helps that I do not recall a life where I do not experience the feeling.”
Robin could not believe what she was saying.
How was he not supposed to worry, when she had just revealed that she had been experiencing that awful burning sensation since she first arrived on Earth?!
Even if she’d had it for as long as she remembered, which was proven to be short due to the loss of her past, Starfire shouldn’t have to experience such a painful feeling on a constant basis!
Robin wanted to say this. He knew the alien was hiding more than she let on and he wanted to know why.
But, even if that was what he desired, it would not matter. Starfire’s eyes, while showcasing her sincerity, also displayed her resolve.
She was not going to reveal more than she wanted.
“Fine.”
Robin finally released her. There was a tension in the air, so thick and heavy it needed to be hacked with a knife.
He nodded his head to where the voices continued to shout out.
“We shouldn’t keep them waiting. Cyborg’ll restore us back to normal once we reach the tower.”
Starfire nodded, not wanting to risk him questioning her any further. She was not sure if she would be able to resist had he continued to be persistent.
Star just hoped Robin would no longer look into the setbacks of her powers, for both of her sakes. Even if she did not know why, or maybe on the chance she could not remember why, she knew the answer would only lead to trouble.
Unfortunately for her, Robin was not finished. If anything, he was just getting started.
He was going to get answers, for both their sakes.

I know, not an exact following of today's Robstar prompt for @robxstar, but the words 'costume swap' gave me an opportunity to try out an idea of mine that involves the Teen Titans and GI Joe alliance again. So the GI Joes pick Robin and Starfire for a mission to go undercover where they have to pose as Cobra Vipers. Scarlett, Joe intel agent and expert rifleman Grunt hand the lovebirds some Viper uniforms and armour to disguise themselves, Starfire admiring the Joes' resourcefulness while Robin stares at the bodysuit he will have to hide his hero outfit under.
In the Cobra base, Starfire and Robin scout around in their disguises, Starfire herself finding it hard to see behind her silver mask. Robin and Scarlett, over Joe communications, immediately alert the Tamaranian to Cobra Commander, his second-in-command the Baroness and their ally Mad Mod coming their way with a pair of elite Crimson Guards. Can the two Titans maintain their cover long enough to not raise the Cobra leaders and their old enemy's suspicions?

RobStar Week 2023, Day 2 - Carnival/Amusement Park
(Shhh, I know I'm late.)
---
Kory glanced aside at Dick knowingly as he switched the turn signal on, moving them towards the right lane of the highway.
He took his eyes off the road briefly, sending her a conspiratorial wink.
Grinning, Kory waited until they were about half a mile away from their exit, before calling back to the two children in the backseat, both slumped over and staring glumly out their windows, disappointed over the end of their trip.
"Mar'i? Jake? Can you look out the window to your right and tell me what you see?" she asked them, failing to hide the mischievous sparkle in her green eyes.
Mar'i was on the right side, and lifted her head from her chin curiously, sending a puzzled squint out the window as the sign for the exit came up.
They knew the moment she'd realized because an ear-splitting excited squeal at an unholy decible shook the car.
"IT'S WETZLEYWOOOOOORLD!" Mar'i shouted, fists clenched, bouncing in her seat.
"What's Wetzleyworld?" asked Jake, leaning over and straining to see.
"Oh my gosh, Jake, it's so fun! We came once when you and I were little, I think you were two, it's the most awesomest, funnest, coolest place ever!" She squealed again, the seatbelt straining to contain her as she floated a half-inch above her seat. "It's got bumper cars and rock climbing and rollercoasters and a Ferris wheel and-"
Dick and Kory smiled at each other from the front seats, pleased at having kept the impromptu visit a surprise for their little ones.
"Hope they still have the Whirl-a-Gig Tower," Dick commented, sliding the car neatly into the exit lane.
"Oh yes, that one was one of my favorites as well," Kory agreed, nodding. Her eyes pinched suddenly, skin wrinkling between her brows. "Did you hear they tore down the Sonic Splashdown?"
He glanced askance at her. "No!" he said, dismayed and in disbelief. "Aww man, we loved that one. It was the perfect cooldown ride for summer."
"I hear they have revamped it with a newer style. It will still be a water ride just... not as big," she hastened to inform him, not quite able to hide her own disappointment.
Dick gave a grumbling sigh. "Guess it can't be helped." He checked over with her, pulling them up to a stoplight. "You've got all our passes?"
She nodded, slipping her hand into the canvas bag in her lap and producing them, four slightly folded sheets of paper. "Indeed. We need to present these at the front gates, which will gain us admittance, and then we must report to the Customer Service booth to gain the laminated badges."
He reached over and squeezed her hand, warmly affectionate. "Thanks for handling that, Star," he told her gratefully. "I know it was a lot to handle on short notice."
Kory flipped a bit of her hair back proudly. "It was nothing," she declared. "I rather enjoyed talking to the service representative; she was very nice and helpful and is expecting a third child in May."
Dick chuckled. Leave it to his Starfire to make friends with a total stranger.
The light flipped to green and he released the brake, taking the turn into the drive that led to the main entrance.
***
The crowds were impressive, several groups of students, families, and youth groups in matching shirts scattered here and there, and dozens of individual families milling around as well. The noise of their talking was matched only by the noise of the amenities, roaring coasters rattling on their tracks, vendors hawking for players at the prize booths, popcorn and cotton candy machines going full steam. The park's kindly mascot, Wetzley the Walrus, twinkled round black eyes out from plushies, billboards, and signage.
Mar'i was already begging for a giant pink flamingo prize hanging above the baseball toss. Dick paid the extra fee and let Kory have the honors, watching her wind up and let a rip with just a touch of her alien strength.
Just a touch was all it took, toppling the whole stack of weighted bottles with a magnificent clatter. Kory beamed as the attendant handed her the flamingo, and Dick felt a rush of nostalgia and adoration; His wife had wanted the same stuffed prize years and years ago when they'd first come here, on what was technically their first date. Technically because they had still been in that weird awkward stage of, "We're just friends, we don't totally like each other at all, but I still really care about impressing you."
The asshole who had prevented him from even taking a turn at the game was no longer working that particular booth, he was satisfied to see.
Mar'i was making grabby hands with her fingers. "Can I hold it? Can I? Can I?"
Kory frowned. "I do not believe that is a good idea, Mar'i. It it much larger than you are, and we do not want to attract attention."
"Awwww!" Mar'i groaned in disappointment, dropping her hands.
"Besides," Dick said, coming up closer, "we're going to have them reserve it at the front for us. That way it won't get wet or dirty before we take it home."
Mar'i mumbled but accepted that logic. Jake, meanwhile, had spotted the carousel.
"MOMMY!" he squealed, pointed excitedly. "DADDY! THEY HAVE A SEAHORSE!"
"Yeah?" Dick responded, leaning down with hands on his knees, matching his son's excitement.
"Yes, see!"
"Well we'd better go ride it then," he urged, taking the flamingo as Kory passed it to him, handing it in turn to the park runner who had just been summoned to fetch the large prize to the front for safekeeping.
Jake was off like a rocket, his sister three steps behind him.
"Do not get too far ahead!" Kory called in worried warning, trying to keep up.
***
When all the coasters had been ridden at least once—and some of them twice—multiple snacks consumed, both children's faces painted with bright designs—Mar'i had gotten a swirling gold and silver configuration called Azure Princess and Jake had gotten the tusks and beady eyes of the ever-ubiquitous Wetzley—and everyone's calves and feet were thoroughly exhausted Dick finally called an end to the day.
Mar'i trudged along sleepily at his side, while Kory held a dozing Jake, his little arms draped around her shoulders.
"I am glad we could share this with them again," Kory said, as they made their way through the exit gate, picking up their flamingo on the way. She smiled in a way that made his heart flip inside him. "This is still my favorite place to come with you," she said, voice soft.
His cheeks heated and like that he was mentally fifteen again, gaping in awe at how pretty she was, how vibrant and full of life and endless enthusiasm.
"Yeah," was all he could say to agree.
Their hands found each other's as they walked across the parking lot, son and daughter and flamingo in tow, the orange light of sunset splashing across the sky.
