Happy birthday to Robert Watts!

Today is his -432nd birthday!

Watts was born on Mars and enlisted in the UNSC Marine Corps. He was deployed to the outer colonies to combat insurgent forces on the frontlines. Over time, he became disillusioned with the UEG and sympathized with the forces he was sent to destroy. He defected, and re-emerged in 2494 as the leader of a unified colonial independence group called the Secessionist Union on Eridanus II.

Watts was an effective leader, successfully driving out the UNSC presence on Eridanus II and amassing a small fleet.

Eventually, the UNSC targeted the Secessionist Union in kind, sending a fleet the rebels could not possibly repel. He fled but gained the respect of other outer colony independence groups, who joined his cause. The UNSC mockingly branded Watts' forces as a "united rebel front", but Watts leaned into the term, becoming the founder of one of the largest organized rebel groups--the United Rebel Front.

Eventually, Watts planned to re-take Eridanus II, but the UNSC anticipated the attack and already had a force waiting for him. He was the target of multiple failed assassination attempts, including one by Avery Johnson. With his new fleet decimated, he was forced to flee again.

He relocated to the asteroid belt Eridanus Secundus. His forces weakened, they turned to looting UNSC ships for supplies. Once ONI developed coordiantes of Watts' general location, they began making arrangements for his capture.

At this time, the SPARTAN-II candidates had just completed their training, and ONI viewed this as an opportunity to test their new supersoldiers. John-117 was chosen as the operation leader, and he chose to command Blue Team, consisting of Samuel-034, Linda-058, Fred-104, and Kelly-87. Blue Team went undercover and hitched a ride on a ship containing goods to be sent to Watts. They made short work of Watts' security and took him alive to be interrogated by ONI, demonstrating how the Spartans could do what the UNSC could not. His fate after being taken into ONI custody is unknown.

In canon (~2560), he is turning 105!
