I was inspired to do a slight update to Breezie the Hedgebot and Robotnik Jr. from Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. Gave Breezie a bit of a style update so she’d look plausible if she showed up in modern Sonic without changing the actual look too much, and made Robotnik Jr. more of a modern Eggman Jr., using Dr. Don’t from Sonic Prime as a bit of a model for how a teen Eggman would look (surprisingly, Dr. Don’t already seemed a lot like Robotnik Jr., down to the mohawk). I have a bit of a concept here for Breezie as well in which her torso can open up to reveal a Metal Sonic like body when she gets serious.

Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog - Robotnik Junior (Screenshots and review)

Well,Well...remember how in my last review I mentioned the problem with how the playlist I was watching through had the episodes out of order? Well, the next episode I was going to review was "Sonic the matchmaker" but just like last time it featured a returning character that I didn't get to see the introduction of - Robotnik's son! Thankfully, he has a whole episode revolving around his origin, so I decided to do that one first. I ended up watching this episode on another YouTube channel, which noticeably presented the episodes in a widescreen format, so that's a nice bonus for my screenshots this time. Now onto, the review! The episode begins with Robotnik lamenting the failures of scratch and Grounder yet again, and locking them out of his fortress. As he stands by the drawbridge controls, he is suddenly hit my inspiration - he is going to create a new son for himself!

He soon brings his new son to life in a lab, and Robotnik Junior immediately starts causing trouble by spray-painting graffiti all over Robotnik's butt. Robotnik is angered at first, but then remembers that this is how he behaved as a child, and feels proud of his kid.

Robotnik wants to bond with Junior, so he plans a camping trip for them, and orders Scratch and Grounder to starts destroying the area around the forest so he'll enjoy it more (Robotnik seems to be really trying to summon Captain Planet in this episode!). Sonic puts an end to this environmental destruction, so next Robotnik decides to give Junior some schooling about Sonic being a threat, and trains him on his newest plan to trap Sonic inside a metal labyrinth. When it's time to trap Sonic, he gets locked inside as planned but then escapes by simply cutting his way through the labyrinth wall, but doesn't anticipate Junior's extra trapdoor he set up outside, so he ends up getting trapped in a sewer (though it looks more like a cave). Robotnik is overjoyed at this and is even more proud of Junior! However, Scratch and Grounder have reached a breaking point of jealousy to where they actually decide they want to off the little kid!

I like seeing these more complicated themes in this silly slapstick show) Oblivious to this, Robotnik decides he wants Junior to learn how to fish next, so he has Scratch and Grounder take him to a local lake. Unfortunately for Junior, the two take this opportunity to try and murder him with a cement truck, but Sonic shows up to rescue him! Junior is very surprised by this and Sonic tries to explain to Junior that if he let's himself have bad friends, they're eventually gonna do bad things to him, too! Junior is standoffish about this at first but starts to consider Sonic’s words after a little while. This was one of my favorite parts of the episode because of how it touches upon things like being an enabler for shitty friends, and how even if you're the selfish person who doesn't care how they treat others (which makes you a total dick, by the way), they're probably also going to hurt you sooner or later, as well.

Robotnik arrives to check on things and is horrified to see Sonic talking to junior, so he quickly scoops up all 3 of his robotic kids and flies away. "Don't talk to me or my kids ever again!" Back at home, Junior tries to tell Robotnik that Scratch and Grounder attacked him and Sonic was the one who saved him, but as soon as Robotnik hears him speaking well of Sonic he begins to panic and start gaslighting Junior, telling him he's ill and that he needs a doctor (to which Grounder points out that the only Doctor he knows of is Dr. Robotnik himself). Scratch and Grounder exploit this by tying up Junior so he can't tell the truth, claiming he needs to be bandaged up so he won't hurt himself.

Robotnik insists that revenge is the only cure for what ails Junior, so he tries to kill Sonic with a giant magnifying glass as Junior watches. This situation gives Junior the inner strength (the magic of friendship!) to break free from his bindings and save Sonic from the device by blocking its ray with his egg-o-matic, and Sonic in return jumps into action to save Junior from getting hit by the device by toppling the entire thing over! Robotnik loses his shit, as one might expect someone to do after being betrayed by their own kid, and Sonic seems to take sadistic pleasure in seeing Junior turn on Robotnik.

The Sonic Says segment briefly goes over episodes overall message - don't give in to peer pressure from crappy people who want you to do bad things!

This was another nice episode! I like seeing stories about Robotnik's family life, and seeing Scratch and Grounder get jealous of "the new baby" was an interesting angle. Robotnik trying to bond with his son was cute with all of over-the-top villainous behavior. Best of all, we get a wholesome ending where Junior realizes his dad is toxic and moves on to live his own life doing more positive things!

Mario and Bowser's rivalry after 30 years: Exists mostly just to uphold the status quo, instantly dissipates whenever the situation calls for it, Peach's kidnappings probably follow a very specific schedule and after every single one they all go out for coffee together. Luigi is unironically Junior's favorite babysitter.

i think one difference is like

Bowser Junior will one day be the Koopa King or whatever title Bowser has. And Bowser knows this, and acts accordingly.

Eggman has no intentions of Sage replacing him, or any of his creations for that matter. The Eggman Empire is run by one person and one person only

YEAH that's another great compare and contrast. Bowser Junior is the next in the royal Koopa line and he's more important and valued that way and he'll be sure to take pride in him as his son and raise him to be strong and confident to be the next king or whatever, combined with Bowser also caring about Jr more ways than Eggman- though as I said before that's not hard to do at all :P

Meanwhile Eggman wants to conquer the world and rule his EGGMAN Empire, where it's all about him. Emphasized even further by how it's not the Robotnik Empire/Robotnikland/etc anymore, it's the Eggman one, making it undeniably clear that it's all about himself and nobody else. He wants to conquer the world and have full and total control over everything and all the power in the world!

He'll never share, certainly not in life and definitely not even in death either. He's far too selfish, egotistical, greedy, and self-centered. Nobody gets as much attention, focus, power, control, and high status as him if he can help it, he won't allow it, especially not when he finally succeeds. IDW actually understood this well with him saying it's "all or nothing" for him. It's always been "me, me, me" and always will.

He wants it all to himself, that's one of the whole reasons he wants to take over the world- he sees himself as the only one brilliant, powerful, and worthy enough to own and rule it all by himself. Everyone and everything else is far beneath while he's far above and superior in his eyes, even his creations as they're built to be subordinate servants. And he doesn't see anyone else deserving of his place either.

He definitely wouldn't share even an ounce of that power with anyone while he's alive, let alone pass the empire on to anyone else in death because of all of this. Not even to any of his greatest creations because he still sees himself as greater and superior to them all because they're only great because he created them as he says- but they still can't ever be as great as the glorious emperor himself.

I'm certain that he wouldn't be able to even STAND to entertain the thought of someone else having everything that he worked so hard for all to themself just like that when he's gone, no matter who the fuck they are. Especially because he wouldn't even want them to have even a bit of that power while he's alive to have the rest of it too. He's too selfish and greedy and power hungry for that.

As for what he actually plans to become of the empire and the world IF he dies- I don't think he ever thinks past that unless it's the scenario where he finds a way to live forever to rule for all eternity because if he could he would. He just doesn't plan on dying even if he doesn't know quite how he'll accomplish that yet. Or the empire and the world just dies with him because fuck a world without him in it! XD 💜

I know sonic's real name is Ogilvie Maurice "the" Hedgehog, but I don't think shadow has one. There are two options:

1) Decide an equally embarassing name for him. Given that he is a creation of Gerald Robotnik and big brother figure to Maria Robotnik, I volunteer the name Gerald Robotnik Junior

2) as a G.U.N. experiment, Shadow is actually his last name. his first name? Project.

Took My Wallet (A Stobotnik Fic Pt1)

I wrote a series of Stobotnik One shots that at this point flow into a story so uh here you go.

For basic context this is an AU where Stone and Eggman are childhood friends!

After graduation Stone had said something the Ivo honestly should have expected. And yet it still caused the now no longer high school student to process.

"Ivo. I'm a guy." 

No not that. That's not the right thing!!!! But it is funny. Not the point! Anyway. 

"Yeah. I've been thinking about going to college. And I got accepted! It's pretty far out though. Like 15 hours by car? But it's got a pretty great curriculum and has what I want to major in!" 

Baffled.  Ivo stands there for a moment. Others chatting loudly and their parents congratulating them, some just enjoying the other's presence. And some rough housing like normal. 15 hours. That meant that they-

I mean. He would live. Would just be really bumming to know he wouldn't be able to see the other often, if ever during the next couple years. 

"But hey. I promise to write to ya. Ok?" Ivo stops, before chuckling. 

"Alright. Good luck then, Stone."

"You too, Ivo. Now c'mon! The night isn't over yet. And I'm not gone for another week! So let's make the most of it." 

And that was true.  

Though the week went by faster than Ivo would ever like to admit. But. They promised each other to write.

Weekly.

Every week, same time, letters would be mailed. And if they missed a day that was made up by being sent later. 

A specific letter that always stuck out to the young Robotnik was this one in particular. At least certain lines.

'I miss talking to you in person.  Everyone else seems so much less intelligent without you around. It's kind of infuriating. '

Which was a fair assessment. No one could truly match his intelligence.  But the other one.

'Exams are coming up so I probably won't be able to write to you as often as I'd like. Sorry Doctor. I promise to make it up to you. I love you <3' 

Doctor. I love you. Odd choice words considering. The last one was certainly new within their messages. Ivo leans back into his chair, spinning around in it. 

What he wasn't expecting was for the letters to stop altogether. The first 3 weeks he brushed under the rug. By the time 4, 5, and 6 went by he found himself worried. Stone couldn't have forgotten,  right? Surely everything was… ok.

It wasn't like their Junior year. It wasn't. Stone was fine. Maybe the letters just got lost in the mail. Incompetence was common within mailing. 

Still. He couldn't help but feel uneasy.

Weeks turned into months. And before he realized it. 4 years had gone by. 4 years, 5 months, 2 weeks, 3 days, and 14 hours. 

Why had he still been counting, anyhow? What was the point? Stone hadn't sent him a trace to know if he was alive or not. So why keep counting? Every second that ticked by, every minute, hour, day, week- he was still waiting. This was silly. Even when he pondered his orb something would nag at him.

Why did Stone leave?

(had an idea for Robotnik Junior in satam becoming Underground Robotnik but specifically the good one from the reverse universe, which is what the third and forth pics are. The first and second are from a different Sonic Underground headcanon for good Robby, where he lost his limbs to a disease he picked up from poor living conditions and inability to afford a doctor for regular checkups that would have caught the disease earlier. This huge gap between the struggling and dying working class and the ruling class of Mobius would lead him to become a revolutionary.

for not having a mouth he should be introduced to metal.

especially when mouthless robots are so rare over there.

ivo really loves to put at least a placeholder mouth with sharkteeth.

as such the inner machinations of metal would be an enigma to everyone else but dufus.

maybe getting to know someone that does not have any difficulties whatsoever for the first time would be nice.

besides, should metal be thinking about overthrowing robitnik, it would be ensuring that the desire to do so can only be read by someone who already has overthrown his master.

it should not be forgotten that robotnik's dumbbots are dumb for a reason. (relatively) smart ones like breezie and junior are known to eventually stop responding to his orders, and he is well aware of the fact that smart robots will eventually go against him.

either metal is still dumb at the core yet the lack of expression functionalities is preventing him from acting dumb, or is going through brainwash every single day. every single hour, even. having a servitude chip installed also makes sense, since that removes the limit of one's extent of what they would do to follow orders.

It's the first thing that Shadow has said since his arrival. He'd taken his perch atop a crate of salvaged badnik parts and had been watching Snively work, cool and quiet as a wandering stray cat. What had initially led Shadow to seek him out was anyone's guess—maybe he just had nowhere else to be.

(Or, privately, it could be that Shadow craves the familiar background noise of someone tinkering away. It's a sound that he hadn't realized he missed until recently.)

"What are you working on?"

Snively is like most who've survived years in a perilous and unpredictable situation: he moves very little when he can avoid it. He makes himself small and quiet, erases himself from the picture of any conflict. Movement opens the pathway to pain.

So when Shadow, renowned (infamous?) all over Mobius, appears in the doorway of the workshop shared with Tails, Sir Charles, Rotor, and other inventive prodigies of the Resistance-turned-Restoration, well....Snively's pale, frigid eyes turn toward G.U.N.'s once-weapon. And nothing else.

A sniff of his sharp nose.

"I'm rather curious to know what part's so similar," and out comes a voice always just nasal enough to rankle nerves. "And while I'm at it, I'm wondering whether you're just socially inept, or attempting to compliment me in earnest."

His head tilts a little. He doesn't blink enough for an ordinary "Overlander" (the slang of most Mobians, for the dwindling human population of this planet). He knows it's unnerving: one of his few effective weapons. Because Snively once had great ambition, but he knows now he was always too craven to see his schemes through. Nah, these days, he'd rather be the man behind the curtain, tapping on a makeshift keyboard at lightning speed, inventing code for the "good guys." Code over which--he must pause, smugly, to acknowledge--even his genius uncle the "Eggman" would stumble.

There's a reason Colin Junior was Dr. Robotnik's right-hand servant for over a decade. He worked like a dog, with no illusion of grandiosity, no poetic vengeance, no "here's my evil plan in verbose detail while I hold you at gunpoint," to blind him to the most practical, logistically sound solutions. No glory, just bloody results.

Shame his uncle rarely listened to him. Or, perhaps it's no shame at all. He IS alive and well now, because Sonic didn't die.

Maybe Shadow knows all that. Maybe he's clocking the kinsman of everyone's common enemy for signs of double-dealing.

Well, the human quietly scoffs and returns to his work, better put on a pot of tea, kiddo. You'll be waiting a while. My motives are very simple these days: fuck over Uncle Julian in any way possible. My allies are anyone who can make that happen. Hate is an exceptional motivator.

He hums a bit, off-key. He runs a simulation on the laptop he built (in hours) last week. He clicks his tongue, puts his welding mask back down, and continues fusing together the parts of old Badnik "friends" from his planet-destroying youth. Scratch, Grounder and Coconuts haven't shown up yet. Maybe they survived the last long war, and don't need to be swept and reactivated as....eugh...Goodniks. Maybe. But doing something with his brain and his hands keeps his mind from roving down even darker paths of memory.

"Reconstructing the past more efficiently," he drawls. "And you?"

The urge to ask something deeply irreverent, like, How they hangin', Doom Patrol?, momentarily seizes Snively. But he lets it pass, like the urge to sneeze. He's very good at placating big egos.

But the silence drags on. So he finds himself lifting the mask again to peer at Shadow. A small smirk wins over his attempt at a pokerface.

"Well?"

God, what a weirdo.

Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog - Sonic The Matchmaker (Review & Screenshots)

It's been a while since I've visited the ol' blue pincushion and his Badnik "buddies"! This one's another episode based around relationships, so it's probably gonna get weird!

The story starts with Scratch and Grounder coming home to Robotnik after yet another botched attempt at murdering Sonic, which results in Robotnik getting blasted by a stick of dynamite. Now in a very poor mood, Robotnik demands that the two badniks pamper him and fluff his pillows. Scratch comments that he sounds like he wants a maid, and Robotnik goes on to say he wants someone to love, cherish and (most importantly) obey him. Scratch takes this to mean he wants a wife (though it's just as possible he could want a husband, Scratch!)  and Robotnik is inspired to build a wife of his own, Bride-of-Frankestein style.

Showing a surprising amount of observance, the two badniks express concern that this might not be a good idea as when he recently made both Breezie and Junior, they both ended up betraying him.  Robotnik decides he is going to kidnap Breezy and Junior so he can examine their programming and find out why they betrayed him. He sends the two badniks off to do just that.

(This Hippo kid is a terrible friend, and his hands creep me out!) The two badniks easily in doing so, but as this occurs we do get a neat little glimpse into the lives of these two robots since their introductory episodes. Robotnik Jr. seems to have a made a friend with a hippo kid, and is helping to repaint a playground (though the see-saw he is painting with a red spray can is purple...how did the colorists mess that up?!). The hippo kids hands disturb me as they just look like swollen nubs with a few holes on the sides. I think he needs to see a doctor! Also, when Junior gets abducted, the Hippo kid is incredibly nonchalant about the fact. Not a very good friend! Fix your personality and your gross hands, Hippo kid!

As Scratch and Grounder catch up with Breezie, we see that she has her own talk show on TV. She is interviewing a coyote and a mouse about lost love, and I am curious what went on with these two! Neither the coyote or mouse seem particularly upset about the subject - I like to think it's because the two of them are now interested in each-other. :)

Breezie gets abducted just as she's starting the interview, and fortunately Tails just happened to be watching the show on a window TV display at the time, so he's able to let Sonic know. (I can't recall the last time I saw a TV store window display, that must have been something that ended in the 90s). We see that inside Scratch and Grounders stranger-danger kidnapping van, Junior is trying to untie Breezie but is somehow so incompetent that he just ends up tying them both together, much to Breezie's annoyance.

After Sonic & Tails arrive and rescues the two, the four of them hang out in a snowy field and talk for a while. Breezie makes fun of Junior, likely for his inability to navigate a rope, and Sonic calls her out, which a pleasant surprise as Sonic can be very rude sometimes (though the artists again do the weird thing of having Sonic show a vacant smile when he should have an expression more of concern or disappointment).  Breezie then asks Sonic if he missed her, attempting to flirt. Sonic says he did, and even wrote a poem about it: "I miss my Breezie, I miss her lots, but it makes me queasy, because she's a robot!" Wow, looks like Sonic doesn't really practice what he preaches in terms of being nice. Nobody can help what they find unattractive, but there's no need to be rude about it!

Unfortunately, Breezie doesn't seem to get the hint that Sonic is saying she makes him uncomfortable, and she continues flirting and hugging on him, even after Sonic straight up tells her that they wouldn't work as a couple because she's a robot. Junior is saddened by this because he himself finds Breezie attractive but so far all she's done was make fun of him. Tails concludes (with all the logic of a 4 1/2 year old) that Breezie would like him more if he was a hero like Sonic, and tries to stage a fake rescue for himself by Junior to impress her.

(Without context, it looks like Junior is giving flowers to Sonic! Honestly, if it wasn’t for Sonic’s discomfort with robots, they might work better as a couple) To Junior’s disappointment, as Tails pretends to fall into a  ravine so Junior can catch him, Sonic is already saving Tails before Junior can even get close, and Sonic ends up having to save Junior too when he loses his balance! After the incident, tails and Junior explain what they were trying to do, so Sonic decides to give Junior some flowers to offer to Breezie and he and Tails leave the two alone to talk. Shortly after they do, Scratch and Grounder return and manage to recapture the two.

Back at Robotnik's lair, we see the rather grim sight of Junior and Breezie's severed on a table, still conscious as Robotnik scans their minds and finds out what went "wrong". Once he figures it out, he dumps their heads and bodies out the window into a junk pile, and prepares to go on a honeymoon with his new robot wife on a nearby mountain, where he is planning to cause an ecological disaster.

Sonic and Tails arrive and reassemble the two, and the robots tell our heroes that they overheard Robotnik's plans for the mountain - he is going to block off the river flows there so as to make sure no water will splash on his new wife Omletta and cause her to malfunction. As an added bonus for Robotnik, the lack of water flow will cause a nearby drought and make people go hungry, much to his delight. Sonic and Junior head off, and this gives Tails and Breezie a moment to talk. Tails tells Breezie about Junior has a crush on her, and she seems to be starting to have a crush on him, too.

(The rivers/waterfall at the mountain were quite pretty and nicely animated, too! The water looked quite inviting.) At the mountain, we can see Omletta pampering Robotnik, as Scratch and Grounder destroy the ground under the river, causing the water current to redirect into a cavern system below. Sonic and his friends arrive, and Sonic knocks a boulder into the hole that the two made, bringing the water current back. Unfortunately, Junior ends up falling into the river and Sonic isn't around at the time, so Breezie jumps in to save him herself! It's nice to see her get to do something besides fawning over a male (though she's about to immediately start doing so again).  After she brings Junior back to the shoreline where Sonic and Tails are waiting, she seems to want to be in a relationship with Junior because "he needs her too much, and she likes that!" (that sounds like a really unhealthy and even predatory basis for a relationship, Breezie) and Sonic puts his arm around Tails saying "he understands", which makes it sound like he and Tails are a couple, too.

As this unhealthy and likely doomed relationship er, blossoms, we see that Sonic is fixing the river flow caused  Omletta to get splashed with water, causing her to "malfunction" in such a way that she seems to gain free will, and as any self-respecting gal would do, she immediately begins clobbering Robotnik for creating her to be a mindless slave for him. Good for her!

The Sonic Sez segment touches on dangerous playground stunts, featuring Sonic catching Junior after he's flung really high off of the seesaw from his creepy hippo friend. Sonic says to be careful with stupid stunts on the playground, and also don't trample over little kids there! I'm sure most little kids do appreciate not being trampled, so that sounds like good advice.

This episode was definitely another one of those weird "the straight are not okay" sorta episodes. It was nice to see Breezie and Junior again, especially with Breezie getting a chance to do something heroic, but the fact that she wants to have a relationship with Junior based on him being too dependent on her doesn't sound healthy. It's also kinda weird that the writers wanted to pair a robot who looks like a sexually mature woman with a robot who looks like a child/adolescent. On the other hand, we did get to see Robotnik get beaten up for trying to make a robot woman his slave, which was cool.  Now that Omletta has gained her free will, I wonder what she'll be doing?
