Arena, RTÉ 1, 6.30pm: As the weekday arts magazine takes an earlier start time for the coming weeks, an interview with Cork's Cillian Murphy about his new film Oppenheimer, directed by Christopher Nolan....'
Made the deeply unhinged choice today to take my Suzuki Swift (it’s got AWD but like. It’s still a Swift.) on the fucked up highland roads in Iceland. Absolutely should have been at home resting because of the whole pneumonia thing but hey. The Swift successfully forded multiple rivers and I got to see some bizarre landscapes, plus it was snowing on one stretch.
Woke: Stoick the Vast is a realistic portrayal of parents who love their children but don't know how to but still try and make an effort. Making mistakes doesn't destroy the relationship he has with Hiccup.
Based: His death left Hiccup without a guide on how to set limits with himself and others amd while he is a great leader on his own Berk would have never given up the dragons had Stoick been around.
I was tagged by @creepycrawlycreaturefor a selfie and for 15 questions for 15 mutuals. Thanks!
Selfie above. Prove it isn't!
1. Are you named after anyone?
I'm like the fourth or fifth of my name, if not more. So Jr, Jr, Jr, Jr,.. (ad nauseum).
2. Do you have any kids?
Someday. To eat all my tin cans!
3. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Very dry sense of humor. Sometimes people think I'm making fun of them when I'm being serious for some reason. Making fun of people is not my bag. Never was. Hate bullies.
4. When was the last time you cried?
Got teary at a recent wake.
5. What’s the first thing you notice about people?
Nothing. Usually terrified and overwhelmed. But other times not.
6. Eye colour?
Wouldn't you like to know!
7. What sports do you / have you played?
Everything, until other dad's started telling their kids that they had to win to be a man! Then I was like, "This is not for me. Say, this Star Blazers show is pretty cool. This. This is my new thing."
8. Any special talent?
I mean, nobody is ever like, "Get that guy!"
9. Where were you born?
On an ice floe.
10. Scary movies or happy endings?
Happy endings, but I've watched tons of scary movies.
11. Do you have any pets?
Man, even the local birds like me! That's not Brit slang. I'm talking Grackles and whatnot. There may be a Chihuahua-Jack Russell terrier mix that haunts my life.
12. How tall are you?
Not tall.
13. What are your hobbies?
Plays music: badly, Draws: illegibly, Drinks: unsated.
14. Favourite subject in school?
English. My only way out. I literally was failing due to nonattendence and my English teacher (God bless her), had me write a ton of essays to graduate.
15. Dream job?
None of my dreams involve labor.
And there you have it! I'm not tagging any of you; I'm far too lazy. Don't take it personally. Do this if'n you'd like!

Traveling North by Mark Stevens
Via Flickr:
While at a roadside pullout along Indian Service Rte 13 with a view looking to the north across the northern New Mexico high desert setting. Off in the distance are ridges and peaks of the Ute Mountain Area with Ute Peak, Black Mountain, and West Toe (as identified using the PeakVisor app on my iPhone). My thought on composing this image was to have a balanced, leveled-on view with the horizon. I liked the balance with the earth-tones in the lower portion of the image with those of the blues and whites in the skies and clouds above. I also liked the dirt road and how it somewhat acted as a leading line into the image.
Rhiannon Giddens, who kicks off her US tour tonight, was on RTÉ Radio 1’s Arena to talk with presenter Seán Rocks about her new album, You’re the One; her Pulitzer Prize–winning opera with Michael Abels, Omar; singing "American Tune" with Paul Simon, and more. You can hear their conversation here.
So, I needed some footage of everything Domhnall has ever had a part in for a project of mine. And this one - The Last Furlong - a 2005 RTE production, was literally impossible to find.
No video, no gif, not even photos, apart from one (1) group photo of the cast.
Try it yourself, I dare you haha.
I was about ready to give up, when I found this gem. And I want to share it with you <3
Just a small update, I finished editing the prologue and chapter 1 including bugcheck (hopefully I didn't miss anything, but if I did... welp, I hope y'all help me out with that) And I have been writing chapter 2 for quite a few days now, currently around 30% of it.
Some of you might have noticed that I have been editing/adjusting our RtE blog to its newer version.
As for ch2, I might actually release it along with the first chapter bc if I were to be honest I feel like there's not much going on in ch1 and I personally am excited more about ch2 as the plot itself starts to kick off into a more thrilling direction. Which, if that happens to be the case, please kindly note you'd want to expect to see the demo around the beginning of January instead of late December. I have to apologize in advance for the delayed release.
