The Rise of Small Language Models: SAS’s Approach to Efficient and Focused AI Solutions
AI is advancing rapidly, but not all businesses need massive, resource-heavy language models like GPT-4. That’s where Small Language Models (SLMs) come in. Unlike Large Language Models (LLMs) that require vast computational power, SLMs are compact, efficient, and designed for specialized tasks.
SAS is at the forefront of this shift, developing SLMs that deliver high accuracy while minimizing costs and energy consumption. Whether you’re exploring AI through an SAS Tutorial Online or looking for scalable AI solutions, SLMs could be the future of business intelligence.
Why Businesses Are Moving to Small Language Models
SLMs offer several advantages over traditional large-scale AI models:
Faster Processing: SLMs work efficiently on standard hardware, eliminating delays in data processing.
Lower Costs: Unlike LLMs that require extensive cloud resources, SLMs are cost-effective.
Privacy & Security: Because they use smaller datasets, SLMs reduce privacy risks.
Domain-Specific Accuracy: LLMs are generalists, while SLMs focus on industry-specific needs.
For businesses that need AI-powered insights without the complexity of massive AI systems, SLMs provide a practical solution.
How SAS is Leading the Small Language Model Revolution
SAS understands that businesses need AI that is accurate, efficient, and scalable. That’s why SAS is investing in small AI models that deliver:
1. Industry-Specific AI Models
SAS develops SLMs tailored for industries like:
Healthcare: AI-assisted diagnostics with faster and more accurate results.
Finance: Fraud detection models that analyze transaction patterns in real-time.
Retail: Personalized customer recommendations with minimal data usage.
2. Optimized Machine Learning Pipelines
SAS integrates SLMs into existing workflows, making AI adoption seamless. With tools like SAS Tutorials, businesses can train employees to use these models effectively.
3. On-Premise and Cloud Flexibility
Not all businesses want to rely on cloud-based AI. SAS provides on-premise AI solutions, ensuring full control over data security.
4. Privacy-First AI Development
Because SLMs use smaller datasets, they minimize privacy concerns. This is particularly valuable for industries that deal with confidential information, such as banking and healthcare.
5. Low-Latency AI for Real-Time Analytics
SAS’s small AI models are designed for real-time processing, enabling businesses to make instant, data-driven decisions.

piccolo and goku's reunion at the beginning of dbz is so funny. Like. the last time they saw each other, they fought to the death, goku showed piccolo the first kindness he'd ever experienced in his life (healing him when he could've killed him and been done with it, even if that meant that kami died too), and then piccolo fucked off for five years. didn't do a damn thing after he'd went on and on about being king piccolo's reincarnation and taking over the world and whatever. and THEN.

the REUNION. and goku's first reaction is immediately "oh and what the fuck do YOU want" which is funny as hell considering he was apparently always telling gohan about how piccolo (jr) really wasn't all that bad:

but y'know. Gotta Be Cautious and all that. but immediately afterwards their back-and-forth is actually hilarious:

because they talk like i'd imagine normal rivals would instead of mortal fucking enemies. and goku's behavior makes sense because he's GOKU and because, again, he was already telling gohan allllll about how he didn't think piccolo was all bad anymore, but piccolo? mr. "cracking a smile as he tells goku how nauseous the thought of teaming up with him is"???? he has ZERO excuses. and then during the actual fight with raditz they start bitching at each other like they're longtime friends who someone dipped in divorce sauce which is HYSTERICAL to me:

"you always were a lazy one" LIKE WHAT IS HE TALKING ABOUTTTTTT if you go over the entire chain of events from goku starting his revenge quest against piccolo daimao to goku and piccolo jr facing off against each other at the world tournament there is nothing in goku's actions that imply laziness. quite the opposite, actually!!! the ONLY thing goku did that piccolo could maybe consider lazy would be. not tracking piccolo down and killing him (read: leaving a loose end alone instead of tying it up). that's It. where is he getting the "lazy" from. where is he getting "you always were..." from. They're not FRIENDS.
and then of course. The Plan.

piccolo: haha yeah i made this technique to kill you
goku: but it's helping me instead!!! love that!!! hahaha!!!
piccolo: yeah haha it really is funny isn't it
raditz: Can These Two Crazy Motherfuckers Stop Giggling With Each Other And Come Fight Me Already
and finally. This.

piccolo: HELL YEAH I GET TO KILL GOKU ALONGSIDE HIS FUCKASS BROTHER WIN-WIN
also piccolo: (...and then he'll get brought back with the dragon balls so it'll all be fine. Just so i can fight him for real of course)
the whole thing is just so funny. like i said, goku's demeanor is understandable because he's goku but piccolo???? goku gave him one senzu bean and he went from "KILL KILL MURDER KILL" to "ahhhh yeah son goku. that guy who i'm totally going to kill one of these days. really looking forward to that haha >:)". and then immediately after that he gets smacked upside the head with gohan
#THE WAY THEY BITCH AT EACH OTHER IS JUST SO FUNNY TO MEEEEE LIKE#'y'know piccolo i coulda WAITED to hear that' 'i pray i contain my NAUSEA at the thought of joining with you'#(a few years later) 'heyyyy piccolo wanna train with me and gohan? :)' 'yeah sure sounds great'#AND THEN ENTER CHICHI WITH THE WHOLE 'goku-sa‚ piccolo-sa' THING#really got fully integrated into the son family unit but he doesn't have like a title or anything he's just standing there. Menacingly#we were robbed of him and goku bitching at each other more actually. there should've been so much more of that#anyway.#goku#piccolo

TW; sa
someone replied to a funny-haha comment I made on ep 120 and it's got me thinking cause this person so smart anddd you should all go like their reply
hereeee are the screenshots;

first off, if you dont know what they're talking abt when they say monty is likely an sa survivor (yes ik hes dead but that was because of a TRAIN so hes still a survivor), im pretty sure they're referring to the flashbacks in ep 87. that ep always made me uncomfortable, but I haven't seen many ppl mention the implications behind it

like putting your hands on him while he screams at you to knock it off is already setting off red flags, but the fact you can see marks on places like his thigh and hip? that reaaallyy rubs me the wrong way
alrr now back to ep 120
when will kissed him, his reaction was definetelyy more than just "whut is this sissy white boy doin he is about'tuh DIE".
every time we see montresor in an intimate "relationship," hookup is proly a better word, it was always him that initiated it. he likes to keep control over that aspect of his life because its something he couldnt always control. will kissing him was the first exception to that rule.
so for monty to lose his last bit of control, especially in a situation like that, mustve been horrifying for him. imagine having to relive some of ur trauma while also actively developing a new trauma. not fun!
also add in the internalized homophobia he definitely has from his time period and the church? HORRRIBLEE combination of things 😭
i rly hope they have a sit down in the future and just vent to each other because god they need it
#tw; sa#PLEASEE do not force yourself to read if that makes you uncomfortable!#hope this all made sense i typed it out as fast as i could 😭#didnt wanna lose my train of thought#monty needs a hug istg#i know hes a little bitch but guys drop ur complicated lore with eachother and comfort him#bro cant catch a break#nevermore theory#montresor nevermore#willtresor#nevermore webtoon

Another SAS: RH thought(s) + headcanon:
I wondered when it is for Eoin that normal friendship and camaraderie with Paddy became 'lately I am changed by him', because that particular wording was so subtle and yet so strong.
Like, we know that the RL Eoin is a writer. He writes beautiful words and sometimes pens letters for other soldiers for their beaus. He doesn't rave and yell random poems at people, he keeps his spoken words close to his chest but it pours over on paper. I want to imagine that sometimes he writes poems that Paddy then looks over and comments on. Little scrawly scribbles at the edges of the paper.
I want to imagine that he writes poems about love and Paddy reads them and memorises them, but despairs that his muse is some fair-haired lady back in Belfast.
I want to imagine that Paddy recites the words that Eoin wrote, randomly to Eoin when they are in private, in their tent, at Heliopolis.
I want to imagine that Eoin indeed wrote them about some faceless woman, soft, not-yet-hardened by the coarseness of the desert, pure. But somehow the words shifted as war rages around him. And in everything he sees, he sees the purity that is Paddy, and his tone shifts. He doesn't write about the rolling green hills and the misty lakes, he writes about the sand and the heat and the blood and the unforgiving desert. And Paddy reads them, offers some changes, pores over the details and Eoin forgets which words were his and which ones were Paddy's.
His vernacular changes. His world changes. In every line he writes there is Paddy, but Eoin has no way of telling him.
And maybe when words fail, even when he is the conjurer of words, he smiles openly and adoringly at Paddy instead. And he will follow Paddy to the ends of the earth. He will offer Paddy the acts of service to communicate the words he could never say out loud.
Maybe he has written the words and Paddy figured it all out, implicitly. Maybe he showed it to Paddy in private, in Kabrit, and Paddy realized that that it was him Eoin was writing about. So Paddy recites them over and over, silently in his mind. Knowing their secret is safe. For a moment they were truly happy.
But we will never know this, because those words don't survive, and people weren't kind to those who loved the way Paddy and Eoin did.

Leveraging SAS for Predictive Analytics: Techniques and Tools
SAS is one of the most widely used programming languages in data analysis, and its capabilities extend beyond simple descriptive statistics to more advanced forms of predictive analytics. Predictive analytics involves using historical data to make predictions about future events or outcomes. In this article, we will discuss how you can leverage SAS for predictive analytics, explore some of its key tools, and highlight techniques to improve your forecasting capabilities.
What is Predictive Analytics?
Predictive analytics uses statistical algorithms and machine learning techniques to identify patterns and trends in data. By analyzing historical data, predictive models can forecast future outcomes with a reasonable degree of accuracy. These models are critical in industries such as healthcare, finance, marketing, and retail, where predicting future trends can drive decision-making and provide competitive advantages.
Why Choose SAS for Predictive Analytics?
SAS provides a comprehensive suite of tools for building predictive models. Whether you're a beginner or have significant experience, SAS Programming Tutorial offers resources that can guide you through the process. From simple regression analysis to advanced machine learning algorithms, SAS is equipped to handle the most complex predictive tasks.
Here’s why SAS stands out in the predictive analytics domain:
Advanced Statistical Procedures – SAS supports a wide range of statistical methods like regression, time series forecasting, and clustering. These are essential for predictive analytics.
Ease of Use – With a user-friendly interface and extensive documentation, SAS Tutorials cater to both beginners and advanced users.
Integration with Other Tools – SAS can be easily integrated with other platforms like Hadoop, which is beneficial for big data analytics.
Key Predictive Analytics Techniques in SAS
To make effective predictions, it's important to understand the key techniques that you can implement in SAS. Some of the widely used techniques include:
1. Regression Analysis
Regression analysis is one of the most fundamental predictive modeling techniques. It helps in identifying relationships between variables and making predictions. In SAS, you can perform linear and logistic regression through procedures such as PROC REG and PROC LOGISTIC. These tools allow you to model the relationship between dependent and independent variables.
2. Time Series Forecasting
Time series forecasting is critical when you need to predict future values based on past data. Whether you're analyzing sales trends, stock prices, or weather patterns, SAS provides excellent tools for time series analysis. PROC ARIMA and PROC FORECAST are commonly used in SAS for modeling time-dependent data and making predictions about future values.
3. Decision Trees
Decision trees are a popular machine learning algorithm for predictive analytics. They split data into smaller segments based on feature values, helping to predict an outcome. In SAS, PROC HPSPLIT is used to build decision tree models. These models are particularly useful when the relationship between inputs and outputs is non-linear.
4. Neural Networks
Neural networks are a type of machine learning algorithm modeled after the human brain. They can capture complex patterns in data and are particularly effective for large datasets. In SAS, you can build neural network models using PROC NEURAL, which allows for deep learning and optimization.
Tools and Procedures in SAS for Predictive Analytics
SAS offers a variety of tools and procedures to help you build and evaluate predictive models. Some of the most useful include:
SAS Visual Analytics – This tool allows you to build predictive models with minimal coding. You can easily visualize data and gain insights through interactive dashboards.
SAS Enterprise Miner – This is a comprehensive tool for data mining and predictive modeling. It provides pre-built algorithms and workflows that make it easier to develop models.
SAS/STAT – For advanced statistical analysis, SAS/STAT is indispensable. It provides an extensive range of procedures for regression, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and more.
Real-World Applications of Predictive Analytics with SAS
Predictive analytics can be applied to various industries and sectors. Below are a few examples:
1. Healthcare
Predictive analytics can help healthcare professionals anticipate patient needs. Using SAS, hospitals can predict patient admissions, optimize resource allocation, and prevent readmissions.
2. Finance
In finance, predictive analytics is widely used for risk management, fraud detection, and customer behavior prediction. SAS models can analyze past transactions to identify fraudulent activities or predict market trends.
3. Marketing
SAS is also used to predict customer behavior, personalize marketing campaigns, and optimize customer retention strategies. By analyzing past purchasing data, companies can forecast future buying behaviors and tailor their marketing strategies accordingly.
Conclusion
Leveraging SAS for Predictive Analytics enables businesses and individuals to anticipate future trends and make informed decisions. With its powerful tools like SAS Enterprise Miner, SAS Visual Analytics, and its ability to handle complex datasets, SAS provides a robust platform for predictive analytics. By understanding key techniques such as regression analysis, decision trees, and neural networks, you can develop predictive models that bring value to any organization.

Simon Riley it turns out, doesn't have a taste in furniture.
It's not that he has objectively bad taste. He just has none at all.
Which he reckons in hindsight he should have anticipated. He never really furnished his own place after all. Always lived in cheap, outfitted places. Never homes, always just places to stay.
And now he's being confronted with a question he can't answer.
"What would ye like?"
Instinctively answered with "Whatever you'd want, don't really 'ave an opinion."
Only apparently that answer doesn't count.
Even as a kid it was second-hand furniture. The few times there was enough money to repaint something Simon as the big brother had to let Tommy pick first. He usually went with blue. No blues then, that's a start right? He doesn't need to give his brain ammunition to pull him back to his childhood. It has more than enough.
And Ghost has all the blue he'll ever need to see in his life in Soap's eyes.
Good thing he didn't say that sappy shit out loud.
Knowing what he doesn't want is a start but nothing prepared him for a vast store full of things. To make choices like "Which couch do you think will give you the least back pain when you can only test-sit them for a few minutes?"
The only thing he knows for sure is that these gigantic stores would make for a mean close-quarter training ground. He's half tempted to ask Price if they can find one that's about to close down and no one would mind getting shot to shit. It would be a fun challenge.
"Simon, ye with me love?"
Shaking his head to clear it and then giving Johnny a quick thumbs up he struggles up from the sofa he'd been sitting on and contemplating.
"Ye like tha' one? Went right to broodin' on there like ye felt all at home."
"Fuck off."
The defense comes instinctively but he has to admit Johnny is right. Giving the couch another cursory look, like it might jump up and bite him, he can't help but be a bit perplexed.
It's very large, definitely bigger than Soap's old couch. It's also very...red. Which isn't blue. But still it looks like someone spilled an intensiley dark wine all over the thing. Did he like red couches?
Apparently.
Simon Riley, it turns out, has a great taste in furniture. It just took him a moment to figure that out.
He picks sturdy things. Solid woods, iron fastenings, robust. Somewhere in the realm between industrial and old hand made styles.
Soap has been trailing him happily, barely saying a word because letting Ghost pick is easy, he almost always found himself agreeing. It wasn't always his first choice or even something that caught his eyes, but slowly and surely the flat was coming together.
It made him giddy, even knowing it would be a while until everything was delivered and assembled.
It would be lots of warm colours, light wood and dark iron in contrast. But most importantly it would be theirs. Something they'd make their home together. And wasn't that novel?
Two trained SAS operatives picking the carpet they found most cosy? Not plotting for tactical advantages but for a home to come back to. A place to share comfort and to share nightmares and panic attacks.
Because no matter how right they got it they would still be themselves, drenched in blood and now on an appropriately coloured sofa.
Johnny knew he should snap out of the line of thought he was barrelling down before it took him to darker places, but he was ensnared already.
Would one of them sit in that flat, drowning in grief when luck finally ran out for them? Would the signs the other left behind before deployment be a comfort or would they feel haunting?
Or would it just be Price and Gaz, lost in a place that had been a home and was just empty? Soulless. Ready to be emptied of all traces that could tell of secrets that better stayed hidden.
Would it just be one of Laswells people, burning the place without a care, just a precaution after a taskforce lost?
"So it's no' tha' one for sure."
Torn from his thoughts Soap looks up at Simon in confusion.
"Starte' broodin immediately. Can't 'ave you in a shit mood every time you hit the sack. 'ave too many plans for tha' place."
Soap finds himself snorting as he gets up from the bed he was testing.
"Fuck off." he throws back softly. Sees a warm smile spread behind the medical mask on Ghost's face.
"Ye're right though and ye need to tell me of these plans."

This is perhaps bitchy and uncharitable and certainly almost a year late to really be complaining about but fuck it, we complain anyway.
Yes, I am still unreasonably upset about Sutekh clinging to the side of the TARDIS since The Pyramids of Mars, and upset because I was sort of foolishly hoping we might get some actual characterization fallout from that addressed properly this series, which of course isn't going to happen. And the reason I'm upset about it while it seems fairly few people care all that much is because it's a litmus test for the degree to which any given person sees the TARDIS as a character in her own right. And it's fairly obvious now that rtd doesn't, or at least, only does when it suits him.
Because the thing is, if the TARDIS is a character, is a person, then the manner in which Sutekh uses and usurps her, and the ambiguity in whether it was consensual ('seduction' vs 'coercion') becomes extremely important to the Doctor and the TARDIS's relationship, and the TARDIS's characterization as a whole, both going forward and echoing back. Like bearing in mind that what actually happened is so ambiguous, what Sutekh being 'there the whole time' even fucking means, that trying to pull a point out of it is almost an exercise in futility from the jump, but to borrow some wildly inadequate or perhaps even inappropriate language, it's the difference between whether the TARDIS has been cheating on the Doctor for more than half the length of their entire relationship, or whether she'd been being (sorry) raped that whole time and the Doctor just hadn't noticed.
And yeah, evidently it was too much for me to hope that there would ever be any kind of real emotional or plot-relevant followup about that, because, again, that requires you to see the TARDIS as a character whose choices and emotions and relationships matter beyond their immediate relevance to the plot. And this isn't new by any goddamn means. This isn't actually the usual split between the traditionalist and the avant-garde camps. The TARDIS's sapience and autonomy do not begin with The Doctor's Wife; this is established (more or less) in The Edge of Destruction, the third ever serial in the history of the show, all the way back in nineteen sixty-fucking-four.
And y'know, yes, it would still be a big deal if Sutekh jumped on in Wild Blue Yonder (as would make way more logical sense) rather than Pyramids; the ambiguity of consent that the show either doesn't care or lacks the stomach to address would still be a blow, but it wouldn't have the unutilized capacity to fundamentally alter the dynamic of the relationship between the two longest-running characters in the franchise if it was the span of a season, rather than thousands of years in-universe and nearly five decades in real life. And not to be conspiratorial or assume categorical bad faith on rtd's part, but yeah, it's hard not see that particular unnecessary detail as a petty response to Moffat and Chibnall's own diametrically continuity-and-paradigm-altering retcons, and an attempt to get his own shot in.
And it's just. Never gonna get talked about, huh. 'Cause it doesn't actually matter, right? 'Cause it's not like the TARDIS is really a person, right?
#megan whines into the empty abyss of cyberspace#doctor who#the tardis#doctor who meta#rtd critical#sa mention#in an extremely abstract sci-fi kind of way#forgive me I am trying not to be grumpy#I'd managed to sort of put it out of my mind but this has been bothering me for nearly a year now#and the closer we get to the end of this extremely short season the more I'm resigned to it never coming up again :/#the TARDIS is unironically non-jokingly one of my favorite characters on the show and if you're gonna do *this* with her#can we at least have any emotional fallout??#can it matter for more than the span of one otherwise deeply mediocre episode?#and the answer is no because that would require rusty in particular to actually think through his finales#which I'm not convinced he was doing in the mid-2000s and definitely isn't doing now#as he's all but openly admitted#whatever#this is all totally irrelevant to anything going on in this series but it's been rotating in my mind again ever since we started back up#esp with all the doomer talk about nuwho getting canceled#and like again not to be the sour note in the hype train but if we are getting canceled again and king rusty isn't enough to save it#then imo we could have at least got some cartmel-esque new blood in before we get the axe#rather than dragging out the nostalgia-poisoned geezer tour#wow this got shockingly mean and bitter down here at the bottom of the tags#wild that this is bubbling up out of me after The Interstellar Song Contest#which I largely found quite fun (and obvs no matter what ends up happening I'm glad we're getting Carol back on the show one last time)#anyway if you don't care about or respect the TARDIS then what are you even doing writing dr who??#that's their wife you MUST love her as much as they do it's imperative
